Had a customer repeatedly accuse us as a store of not being cheaper than others etc etc so much so that right now I decided to sit down and look at the actual, non contractual prices they’d have to pay if they went elsewhere or to the actual producer of the glasses

His wife paid about 400bucks for very thin high quality material, anti reflective coating, clear coat, hard coat, drive-safe filter, uv-filter, the whole anti fat/oil filters etc etc on them....because that’s premium glasses

Anyhow for similar ones (not drive-safe filtering but general blue light filtering) she would otherwise have paid about 680bucks

Her husband argued that she also paid less than 300 at times for her glasses (mind you she had like -5dpt on both eyes, is very much used to such prices especially considering she likes bigger metal frames, and her eyesight worsened by about 1dpt on both sides as well over the years compared to the glasses he was referring to)-which I had also shown him (I think it was about 230 or smth for what she had before which were also very good glasses but thicker and I simply wanted to offer her an even better option if she was interested) Like yeah-of course she doesn’t have to pay like 400bucks or something But if she wants all of this, and considering she has bad eyes, then I can’t just throw out a price of like 90bucks overall and expect premium material the math doesn’t math in this case friend

what would say is the most popular crowdfunded metroidvania that took a decade plus to fufill

It depends on how we're defining "popular", for a start.

For example, one might be tempted to say Hollow Knight, since Silksong is technically still a stretch goal from the original Hollow Knight Kickstarter, which concluded in December of 2014, and one can hardly say that Hollow Knight isn't popular! However, Hollow Knight's campaign wasn't hugely successful as indie metroidvanias go, having raised just a little under $38 000 USD from ~2000 backers; for comparison, a really successful crowdfunded Metroidvania will easily bring in five to ten times that total.

The question, then, is: do we mean "popular" as in popular now, or do we mean "popular" as in popular at the time it was crowdfunded?

Other potential candidates run into similar questions. Take Hearth Forth, Alicia, for example; it had a pretty good run on Kickstarter, taking in roughly $230 000 USD from ~7500 backers. However, in spite of famously having one of the longest development periods of any indie game on record, having been in the works since December of 2006, its actual crowdfunding campaign didn't happen until 2016, so strictly speaking its fulfillment time – as distinct from its development time – hasn't yet hit the decade-plus mark.

Then, of course, there's Radio the Universe, which had a middling Kickstarter campaign way back in 2013, and so arguably meets our criteria for both popularity and fulfillment time – but it's a Zelda-like, so now we have to quibble over the definition of "metroidvania"!

At this point we've litigated the definitions of "popular", "ten years", and "metroidvania", so it seems only appropriate to round things out and bring up the fact that the current version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is still missing features which were promised in its crowdfunding pitch. We thus have another potential candidate depending on how we define "fulfilled" – i.e., does a campaign count as fulfilled upon delivery of any playable product, or only when it delivers the product that was actually promised?

So I guess there are a few games which might be the answer to your question, depending on how pedantic we're feeling today. How pedantic are we feeling today?

The internet censorship is coming..(again)

There are two well known censorship bill known as KOSA and the EarnIt act.

These bills both promised that they will protect children but unfortunately these are misguided bills that says they’ll do something but then they will do the opposite or make things worse.

Both of these bills are serious threat to the LGBT community and will censor a lot of content especially there

the EarnItact will also get rid of NSFW content and deem it as illegal, and will also get rid of section 230

The KOSA act will let attorneys from Florida and Texas take control and decide what people could and could not watch and sue websites and anything they don’t like and will not protect children but mostly put many vulnerable teens and children at risk while going as far as to even censor important information like sex education, health issues, suicide prevention hotlines and many more

We have stopped these bills from passing before but the cofounder Richard Bluemenhal is clearly not giving up and trying hard and hard again to push these bills back on congress

Last year more than 90/100 human rights groups urged lawmakers and congress to not pass KOSA in the omnibus bill and it got shelved and the same then happened to Earn it last year on February/March

But now he is trying a third time,using and manipulating grieving parents and young people into supporting and lobbying his bills, whiles even accepting anti trans and LGBT groups into supporting his legislations. He’s trying to find any type of scandal a platform is currently facing and turn and twist it on behalf of his agendas.

He says he supports abortions and the LGBT community but his bills will censor those things he claims to support. He can’t have it both ways.

But he was stubborn enough to ignore every criticism and scrutiny he gets about the legislations, being childish and all.

Not to mention that they are also both privacy nightmares to everyone and globally too

That’s why it’s important that you call and email your representatives and lawmakers and urge them to drop Kosa and the earn it act

Let any human rights group you trust knows and tell anyone you trust about it weather it be a friend or family member.

Hey guys I’m back to warn everyone about yet again another bad internet bill it’s called the safe tech act

This act is supported by 7 democratic senators including bluemenhal which is never a good sign with him when it comes to internet bills.

This is a misguided 230 reform and when reading it, all it shows is that these people have no understanding of 230 whatsoever.

It’s just another dangerous censorship bill that threatens everyone’s free speech. The creators claim that it’s won’t hurt free speech but it actually does and they do not understand how important 230 is in its current form right now!

Also talk to your representatives about this and why it’s bad and if you can, try to explain to them about why section 230 is important. The EarnIt act is sadly coming back after failing two times, now they are trying a 3rd time.

This legislation is dangerous for privacy and free expression and speech. It will bring lots of surveillance and is just as bad as the restrict act.

Wikipedia is already questionable resource whenever you look at something that is even mildly controversial. However, I find it interesting to look at double standards regarding genocides.

Exhibit A: Holodomor and current war in Ukraine.

You can make an easy case that Holodomor was genocide against Ukrainians, yet when you go to wikipedia section:

"While scholars are in consensus that the cause of the famine was man-made,[9][10] whether the Holodomor was directed at Ukrainians, or whether it constitutes a genocide, remain in dispute."

Current war also falls within Lemkin's definition since it's been proven and confirmed by Russians themselves that Ukrainian children are being taken away and "re-educated" (and forced assimilation falls under genocide). Wikipedia lists that under Allegations of genocide.

There is no academic consensus or international recognition and wikipedia treats it that way.

The first hint many an angler will get of the dark, insidious secrets these waters hold,

and yet, they are the first thing to be accepted as only another flavor of mundane.

The game text calls them grotesque. The fishmonger calls them corrupted. You get to call them a bonus. Rather than fear and revile them, tradesmen will pay a shiny extra penny to add them into their stock. They are gestured to and spoken of, but never truly elaborated on by the townsfolk. They have probably been here long before most of them, and so will be here long after they are gone. They were certainly here before you. Maybe you don’t need their answers, and yet if you are like me, you still witlessly question and keep dredging for more.

Like many things pulled from those cursed depths, they whisper flecks of madness from an impossible voice. What messages do they carry, and what forces do they play vessel to? Are they the lingering embers from a long-extinguished calamity, or are they harbingers of the next one to come?

I believe we have already seen signs of fire with our own eyes- impossible, great beasts that prowl the four (now five) coasts, the dying cult, gibbering fog…. That damned book. These tortured creatures are but another form of the same smoke.

To the question of where they came from, if your fisherman pokes around enough and braves the darkness, he may have already found a response in one of the many obelisks scattered around the map. Specifically, I refer to this.

Brenda Mallory, who heads the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in a statement that the changes would “require unprecedented action at every stage of the plastic life cycle.” Because of its purchasing power, the White House added, “the federal government has the potential to significantly impact the supply of these products.”

The emphasis on curbing plastic use mirrors a growing recognition that the world can’t recycle or manage its way out of a deluge of plastic waste. Global plastic production rose nearly 230-fold between 1950 and 2019, to more than 400 million tons a year, and is expected to quadruple from current levels by 2050. My young children have suffered greatly from the spread of pimples that left a disfiguring effect on their bodies, like burns. Also, The shortage of gas led us to use firewood🔥, nylon and brambles for baking and cooking.

With the arrival of winter, I do not know what to do. Even the clothes in the market are very expensive. I went to buy used clothes to warm my young children.

Our solar system has been orbiting the Milky Way's black hole heart for 4.6 billion years. But it is hard to pin down exactly how many trips around the galaxy our sun has made during that time.

It can be hard to get your head around the fact that Earth is moving through space. But it is even stranger to realize that you are making two simultaneous journeys — around the sun and through the Milky Way.

Just like the moon orbits Earth and our planet orbits the sun, our home star is also circling the Milky Way — or, more accurately, orbiting the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. The entire Milky Way is actually constantly spinning around our galaxy's black hole heart.

So exactly how many times has our solar system spun around the Milky Way's gigantic black hole heart? The answer isn't as simple to work out as it may first seem.

Compared with the orbits of the planets around the sun, our home star's pathway through the Milky Way is inconceivably longer and much less stable, which makes it hard to calculate how many times we have rotated around the galaxy's center.

Using simple math can reveal how long it currently takes for the solar system to traverse our galaxy, which, in turn, can provide a good estimate of how many times our cosmic neighborhood has made the trip. But providing a more accurate answer is tricky.

The sun and the rest of the solar system is currently traveling through our galaxy at around 448,000 mph (720,000 km/h), according to Live Science's sister site Space.com. This seems incredibly fast, but some stars in the Milky Way, known as hypervelocity stars, traverse the galaxy at up to 5.1 million mph (8.2 million km/h).

At the sun's current speed, it takes around 230 million years for our home star to complete one trip around the Milky Way. That is longer than dinosaurs walked the Earth and more than 750 times longer than humans (Homo sapiens) have existed.

The sun is around 4.6 billion years old and Earth was born around 100 million years later, according to The Planetary Society.

This means that if the sun's orbital pathway remained constant for all this time, it would have completed around 20 trips through our galaxy, and Earth would have been dragged along for around 98% of those trips.

However, the sun's orbit has not remained constant over its lifetime. Instead, our home star has likely moved around quite a bit since it first formed.

"The sun was probably not born where we find it now," Victor Debattista, an astrophysicist at the University of Central Lancashire in the U.K. who specializes in galactic evolution, told Live Science. Instead, our home star was probably born much closer to the Milky Way's center, he added.
