It’s 3am, can’t sleep so here I am thinking of how unnecessary killing off the adorkable character of the show at the end of season ONE was

hi I’m going to list off my favorite emotional scenes in Teen Wolf that made me stop and think “oh my god - I thought this was just a campy teen drama.” Don’t mind me. (Not in a particular order.)
1) When Stiles thinks he has the same type of dementia that his mom had, and him and Scott hug each other before he has his CAT scan, and he just sobs as he holds his best friend. That scene WRECKED me and I will never get over it. It, in my opinion, was the most emotional scene in the entire show because it wasn’t about anything supernatural or mystical. It was a real issue that people have to face every single day.
2) In s3, again when Stiles is mentally fighting the nogitsune and hasn’t slept in weeks. He goes to Scott’s mom for help, because that’s who he has for a mother figure. He needs someone to take care of him and he knows she always will. He breaks down in front of her, terrified over what’s happening to him, and she makes him sleep with a sedative (in a loving, caring way). He calls her mom as he goes under, and that scene might never leave my heart. Ever.
3) When Aiden dies in his twin brother, Ethan’s, arms. The fact that his last thoughts were that he still was going to die as the villain, even though everyone knew he was redeemed as a hero. Ethan and Aiden were never my favorite characters, but his death was so immensely sad and it was too much for me. He was just a kid.
4) The entire episode of Motel California. Isaac literally having to relive his childhood trauma - like what the actual heck? And of course, the scene when Stiles not only tries to talk Scott out of suicide, but then tells him if he’s going to kill himself then Stiles is going to die with him. AND THEN HE STEPS INTO THE GASOLINE. I literally ... I can’t. The relationship between Stiles and Scott might be the most wholesome friendship in any show I’ve ever seen.
5) When the Sherriff refused to let Stiles admit himself into Eichen House and uses the excuse that Stiles needed his pillow because he couldn’t sleep without it. Then, as he’s near tears fighting his son, telling him he couldn’t live with himself if he left him there without his pillow because he wouldn’t ever sleep, Stiles just looks at him and says, “Dad, I haven’t slept in days.” I think Stiles and his dad are my second favorite relationship in that show. There’s nothing compared to their father/son bond.
6) When no one will believe Lydia that Stiles is real in s6 and she breaks down outside of where his door should be. What hurts me the most from this was that Stiles ALWAYS believed in her. It didn’t matter if she had zero proof, he always believed her and always convinced everyone else to believe her. If no one went along with it, Stiles always did. But when he was gone, she had no one to believe her, and no one to help her find him. Lydia always went to Stiles when she needed his help, and in many scenes she’s at his door for his help. This scene killed me because it reflected how she needed him, she came to his door, but it wasn’t there anymore and the way she broke down against the wall made ME break down.
7) When the Sherriff remembers Stiles in s6 and his wife has to “die” in order for him to fully remember. Just. That’s it. There’s no other words to say. It was a BEAUTIFUL scene and I... I can’t.
8) In s3b when Stiles has the nightmare within a nightmare within a nightmare, and when he finally wakes up he’s screaming and panicking and his dad has to come in and hold him down like this wasn’t a new thing. That’s called PTSD guys, and it’s real. This scene killed me.
9) s3b again, but when Stiles can’t read in class and runs out and has a panic attack in the bathroom. Scott follows him and Stiles is insisting that its a dream, and Scott has to talk him through that panic attack as well as showing him he’s really awake. The realness in this scene just... all of s3b had me crying tbh.
10) When Stiles has a panic attack in s3a. I swear this show got so real sometimes. They dealt with panic attack's a lot in the show and I appreciated it so much because YES. Teenagers going through this crap WOULD have panic attacks. I mean heck I have panic attacks without my friends and family all almost dying on a regular basis. It was so so sad and it just broke my heart for him.
11) in s6, when Stiles is being erased and he runs to his dad. He goes to him terrified of what’s happening and he hugs him and is frantically explaining and his dad asks him what his name is. That scene hurts. Stiles not being remembered by his dad is crushing, and it really hit me that he was really being taken. Seeing the realization on Stiles’ face is heartbreaking.
12) When Stiles is about to be taken in s6 and tells Lydia she’s going to forget him and she says “I won’t” and he just says, “Lydia, you will,” but she still refuses to believe it. Then once he’s taken, she sits there and says “remember, remember” and the next scene Scott and Malia ask her what she’s forgetting and she says she can’t remember.
13) When Lydia walks to and waits by Stiles locker in s6a after he’s been taken, and she doesn’t know who’s she’s waiting for, she just knows she’s supposed to meet someone there.
14) When Lydia realizes/remembers she never once told Stiles she loved him.
15) When Lydia stays with Stiles even though she knows Allison is about to die, and then can sense her death and sobs as she lays on an unconscious Stiles for comfort. Lydia goes through hell in s3b and I don’t think we realize it enough. She not only was emotionally tied to Stiles and had to not only watch but feel the pain he was going through with the nogitsune, but she knew Allison was going to die and knew there was nothing she could do about it.
16) s3a when Lydia can feel what’s happening to Stiles but she can’t do anything about it so she just cries and banshee screams in her car.
17) When Isaac has a breakdown in Argent’s arms after Allison’s death.
18) The entire backstory of Isaac. Like. Guys he was so abused that poor boy deserved so much better. His goodbye made me mad - we got so attached to him and then he just left and never came back.
19) in s5 when they save Lydia from Eichen House but they think she’s dead, and Stiles begs her to open her eyes. I literally hold my breath every time I watch that scene. The tears in Stiles’ eyes, his broken expression, Scott and Deaton looking at Stiles like they don’t know how to handle Stiles if she’s dead, it’s... it’s so much emotion. And the relief on everyone’s face when she finally breathes. Just... damn.
20) The entirety of Stiles dealing with the death of Donovan. I can hardly get through s5 because I can’t stand to watch the pain Stiles go through the entire season. He is emotionally tortured the whole time, and it’s not like is s3 when its a supernatural force - it’s his own darkness being used against him. He almost loses his dad, he almost loses Lydia countless of times, Scott (his BEST FRIEND, the guy he calls BROTHER) loses trust in him, and he has to live with the death of Donovan on his conscience with literally no support. Stiles was always, like Lydia, right about just about everything. Yet, no one ever picked his side - which left him having to fight his demons, AGAIN, alone.
I’m gonna leave it there at 20. However, I could go on for hours. This show man - how is it one of the campiest, yet funniest, yet most emotional shows I’ve watched in a really long time?

I absolutely despise the way Jeff Davis and the Teen Wolf writers/producers kept diminishing other characters to highlight Scott. They really had Derek claim “Lydia would never run or hide because of Scott” when 1) Derek and Lydia barely interact throughout the whole show 2) Lydia Martin has more power, charisma, personality, talent, and leadership skills in her pinky than Scott will ever have in his entire life 3) the right answer would have been “Lydia would never run or hide because of LYDIA”
Jeff tried to push his gross ‘Scott made Lydia a better woman’ narrative down our throat again using Lydia herself – LYDIA: Not all monsters do monstrous things. MEREDITH: Like who? LYDIA: Like Scott McCall. They propped Scott up at the expense of canon and of everyone else in the cheapest, most blatant case of Tell Not Show that I’ve ever seen These are the two Lydia messages? Yes? I hope so, so I’m putting them together. They started with this concept in S3a, making it blatant in the episode “The Girl Who Knew Too Much” when Lydia randomly starts telling Scott how much she trusts him to help her find a way to prevent the deaths that she keeps predicting. Then they did the whole holding hands thing, which....what? I’ll be honest, the introduction of Kira in S3B as a love interest for Scott really surprised me, because it very much looked like they were trying to build up a romance between Lydia and Scott. Jackson had just left, and we know Scott’s original desire from the start of the show was to have what Jackson had. Since Allison still wasn’t getting back together with him, Lydia would be the next best thing. And it wouldn’t be the first time that they got together while Scott was without Allison. Plus there was the storyline of her falling for the ‘bad boy’ serial killer werewolf, and how that would’ve been flipped on its head if she then dumped Aiden for being ‘bad’ and fell for Scott because he was ‘good.’ But I’m kind of off-topic. I agree that it was super frustrating. The whole show took pains to point out that the growth of literally any character had to be in some way caused by Scott. Derek couldn’t grow until he learned to let Scott take control. Stiles couldn’t grow without Scott to keep him on the ‘right’ track morality-wise. Ethan and Aiden gave up their murdering ways because Scott was so inspirational, yadda yadda yadda. When the truth is, Lydia was the way she was from the beginning. From the start, Lydia didn’t run or hide. Half the time she didn’t have the option to, because she was cornered or surprise attacked, but Lydia faced her issues head on. When she got dumped, she freaked out in the hall, and then she tried to move on. When she was called out by Allison for kissing Scott, she took it in stride. In season two, she tried to make amends with Jackson and be chill about their breakup. She didn’t hide from the other students even when she started having episodes in class. And from the fucking BEGINNING of S3, without any interaction with Scott, Lydia was fucking strong as hell. She took her own initiative in her relationships--and I STILL stand by the opinion that she never would’ve dated Aiden if someone had fucking told her what he’d done instead of her getting a tiny little glimpse when he helped kill Boyd--and she stuck by all of them when Scott got sick. She helped Stiles save Boyd, Ethan, and Isaac, and saved both Stiles and Scott in the end. Lydia has NEVER run away from her problems. Yeah, she suppressed a lot of trauma and hid her feelings from Others, but that’s not the same thing. Lydia has always been headstrong and brave loyal, and Scott has nothing to do with that.

Ranking teen wolf seasons from worst to best.
Season 6- was very rushed in my opinion and I could tell they just kinda threw in as many of the past actors as possible. Also, the lack of main characters (especially Stiles but I understand why he wasn’t as present) was a turn off for a last season. Also, the villains in part b weren’t that interesting. Don’t kill me but Scalia felt so forced. I felt like they wanted to just pair Scott and Malia with someone so they wouldn’t be alone. They needed more time to build that relationship for me to like it more.
Season 5- Really wasn’t feeling the dread doctors or the beast as villains. They were very meh. Also, didn’t like how Kira wasn’t in this season. Some good parts were seeing some nice Stydia scenes and the acting was amazing. But overall it was a mediocre season that I wouldn’t dare to watch the entirety of again.
Season 4- I actually liked this season’s main villain. The thought of a Deadpool was extremely cool but I was turned off by Derek’s decision to leave and the fact that Isaac wasn’t in the show anymore. Those two were fan favs so it felt weird without them. Also, I’m not a big Stalia fan so naturally I’m not too crazy about some of the scenes in this season. Also, Malia’s mom wasn’t really a necessary villain in my opinion. She’s more of an origin story for Malia.
Season 1- and now we’re down to the top three. This season was so pure compared to others since it was introducing us to all our mains. I rarely ever think the first season of a show is the best strictly because the characters aren’t developed yet, which is why this season is third best to me. Also, Peter and the Argents make great villains tbh.
Season 2- I loved seeing Jackson as an actual villain instead of just some punk. Also, it was the end of that toxic ship Jydia. Some iconic Stydia and Scallison scenes come from this season, and it’s the season where Allison’s mom dies (yay). We also get introduced to some beloved characters like Derek’s pack. It was a cultural reset luvs.
Season 3- Come on do I really have to tell you why this is and forever will be the best season of teen wolf? Dude, it’s the only season where almost every single main character except for Theo, Jackson, Liam, and Mason were in it. Kira, the twins, and Malia are introduced. The villains in both parts were ICONIC and so interesting. The Stydia scenes were off the chain. STYDIA KISS!! The rave episode. MOTEL CALIFORNIA!! The humor and character development was amazing. DYLAN’S ACTING OMFG Finstock vs. Greenburg at its peak humor. VOID FUCKING STILES!!!! It’s the only season to date that I’ve watched completely from start to finish more than once because it’s that good. 10000/10.

“Stop ignoring or sidelining Scott McCall when he is the true alpha and the main fucking character of Teen Wolf!”
LOL the fuck is Scott/Posey Stans’ problem https://scintalla.tumblr.com/post/650697822782586880/i-am-really-done-with-the-tw-fandom-i-mean-this
https://scintalla.tumblr.com/post/650260868277370880/scott-mccall-is-not-dumb
@scintalla:
I am really done with the TW fandom. I mean, this post isn’t about ALL fans of Teen Wolf but the majority have just ruined my experience in this fandom. Keep in mind that these are my opinions which I’m sharing and not a personal attack on anyone. So here’s why I’m fed up with both the fandom and even the show to an extent:
1) The hatred towards Scott McCall is just appalling. I genuinely can’t think of a reason why anyone would hate this precious ray of sunshine who is always trying to protect everyone. Like is a 16 year old and doesn’t know everything about being a werewolf the second he was bitten? *Lol, he’s so ‘dumb’.* Doesn’t immediately trust Derek because he has no reason to? *Poor Derek Scott is such a 'meanie’* Doesn’t abandon Allison the moment Derek tells him to because the latter is a stranger and Allison doesn’t even know about her family being hunters? *Everything is Scott’s 'fault’.* Makes a masterplan to defeat Gerard and save everyone? *Fandom shrugs and continues to make everything about Stiles* His ex girlfriend dies in his arms? *Fandom cries a tear and moves on to fawn on Void! Stiles* Saves everyone in the show, becomes the true alpha from the merit of his character *Fandom closes its eyes and fawns over one liners that Stiles threw* Literally dies and is attacked by his best friend for not saving his father when he was DEAD? *Poor Stiles, Scott is such a bad friend. Why can’t he just do everything according to how Stiles wants him to? Who cares that even Stiles himself trusted Theo and confided in him only about having to kill Donovan and never clarifies to Scott that he did it in self defense.* Like I can go on and on about how much of Scott’s trauma and pain are shrugged off because of fandom’s obsession with Stiles and even the show makes it appear as if it was Scott’s fault somehow that he died and couldn’t save Stiles’ father. I’m so tired. Tyler Posey was so good at playing Scott and his performance is ignored by 99.99% of the fandom.
2) KIRA YUKIMURA DESERVED BETTER! She was treated so badly by both the fandom AND the show! People were continually comparing her and Allison even though Allison was okay with Scott moving on and even teamed up with Kira in 'De- Void’ episode. And why can’t Scott move on? Allison wouldn’t have wanted Scott to mope over her forever. And Kira’s story and character development are thrown in trash and she isn’t even mentioned in season 6! Like, I’m not mad that she chose herself over Scott because it’s okay but they could have spent AT LEAST five minutes to talk about Kira and where she was and how she was doing. And the fandom’s unwarranted dislike of her even though the show had made it clear that she isn’t Allison’s 'replacement’ or whatever reasons people use to justify their hatred of her. Like she is a sweetheart, her relationship with Scott was cute and healthy and she doesn’t deserve any hate thrown towards her. Arden Cho portrayed her so well and I hate that she was treated like this by both fandom and writers of the show.
3) Malia Tate is treated so badly by the fandom that even I was surprised by the venom hurled towards her. Malia spent eight years as a coyote, so obviously she doesn’t know how to handle complex human emotions that even teenagers struggle with. And she does better than expected . She is not an 'unsupportive’, 'abusive’ girlfriend that toxic Stydia (i.e. not ALL stydia shippers, only the toxic ones) shippers make her out to be. She even figured out that Stiles had killed Donovan in self defense and said she didn’t judge him for it. And what did she get in return? She was ditched by her boyfriend for her efforts. And no, it’s not toxic that she was jealous of Lydia and Stiles because she was just dumped and wasn’t given closure over it, so obviously she isn’t going to be okay that her boyfriend was moving on so quickly. Like it’s not ideal but it’s not the worst thing. And even if you don’t ship stalia, you have no reason to hate on her. Just ship your ship and leave others who don’t agree with your personal opinion alone.
I haven’t even scratched the tip of the iceberg but these were the only ones that came to my mind. The blatant sexism and racism from the fans really saddens me and I wouldn’t be so mad if actors like Tyler Posey, Arden Cho, Shelley Hennig etc.. weren’t hated on for doing their literal jobs. Like, I’m not telling you to hate Stiles or Derek (which is impossible as it is when it comes to TW fandom) or tell you to stop shipping Sterek and Stydia (There’s nothing wrong with the ships inherently but I wish its stans weren’t so hell bent on making everything in TW about their ship). Only that you stop hating poc, female characters for no valid reasons and stop excusing your white faves’ problematic actions because they cried about it once or whatever. Like no wonder why white men are able to get away with the worst shit while poc and women suffer for no fault of theirs and hated on for things they can’t control; like their race or gender.
//
“I’M NOT TELLING YOU TO LIKE SCOTT AND HATE STILES AND DEREK” Antis screech at the top of their ragged lungs as they proceed to hate Stiles and Derek for daring to eclipse their whiny fav Scott from day one without even trying, throw a temper tantrum because everyone – including the whole Teen Wolf cast and their bitter flop fav Tyler Posey himself – prefers Stiles and Derek to Scott, and go out of their delusional way to twist and/or erase canon in order to blame Stiles and Derek for Scott’s own canonical toxic actions and behavior.
I also luv the way they try to paint Tyler Posey as a poor mistreated, sidelined, discriminated victim and pretend to give a shit about Arden Cho and Kira Yukimura as if Posey hasn’t been texting Jeff Davis begging his buddy to give him a job for the past five years and didn’t refer to Kira as “a good distraction for Scott”
@scintalla post is another proof that Scott Stans never watched an episode of the actual show:
“Scott makes a masterplan to defeat Gerard and saves everyone? Fandom shrugs and continues to make everything about Stiles”
Except that Scott didn’t save anyone in Master Plan – Stiles, Peter and Lydia did – and failed to kill Gerard. The only thing Scott achieved with his dumb excuse of a plan was prompting his buddy Gerard to order the Kanima to slaughter everyone in the warehouse, including Scott.
“His ex girlfriend dies in his arms? Fandom cries a tear and moves on to fawn over Void Stiles”
Did you notice how Scott/Posey Stans, just like Tyler Posey and Jeff Davis, try to make Allison’s heroic death all about Scott? Also: the Teen Wolf fandom can call the show writers out for shitting on Allison and making her heroic death all about her toxic ex boyfriend AND fawn over Stiles and Void Stiles at the same time. Just saying 😘
“Scott saves everyone in the show, becomes the true alpha from the merit of his character” Lmfao sure Jan! Like, everyone knows Jeff Davis came up with that true alpha nonsense last minute just to make his self insert Scott a little less irrelevant. But go off I guess
“Who cares that even Stiles himself trusted Theo and confided in Scott only about having to kill Donovan and never clarifies to Scott that he did it in self defense”
1) Stiles never trusted Theo. Theo himself had no problem admitting that Stiles was smart enough not to trust him. Unlike Scott, who fell for Theo’s cheap lies and got played by Theo like a cheap kazoo throughout Season 5 #Oops
2) Scott is neither Stiles’ dad, alpha, nor authority figure. Stiles is not obligated to share his traumas with a toxic friend if he doesn’t want to
3) Scott’s the one who yells “B-b-but it is not self defense anymore!” at Stiles in Lies of Omission
“I can go on and on about how much of Scott’s trauma and pain are shrugged off because of fandom’s obsession with Stiles… Tyler Posey was so good at playing Scott and his performance is ignored by 99.99% of the fandom”
If Scott/TP Stans are so butthurt that everyone is in love and obsessed with Stiles and Void Stiles instead of paying attention to superior true alpha Scott, then why don’t they take their jealousy and frustrations out on Posey? Tyler Posey is just as in love and obsessed with Dylan O’Brien, Stiles and Void Stiles as everyone else is (if not more.)
As for @scintalla & Scott McCall defense squad circle jerk whining and throwing a tantrum cause “Posey’s performance got ignored”, well… they should be fucking grateful everyone – including critics, fans, viewers, the whole Teen Wolf cast, and Posey himself – were too busy praising and gushing all over Star & Breakout Star of the show Dylan O’Brien’s phenomenal acting talent to pay attention to Tyler Posey’s cringe worthy attempts at acting

Season 1, Episode 3: Pack Mentality
Hey there beautiful reader! If you’re new here, this is a series I’m writing where each chapter is an episode from the first season of Teen Wolf. If you’ve been here before, hey! I missed you! Previous and future chapters are linked at the end of each part if you want to catch up.
Pairing: Stiles x Psychic! Reader (eventually)
P.S. Derek is *ominous* and Scott is a dumbass.
Tumblr media
                                                            ----------
“I don’t know, it just feels like something is off.” Allison groaned from beside me.
Lydia, who was heading to lunch with us on my other side, rolled her eyes. I couldn’t really blame her. Allison had been complaining about Scott’s odd behavior this morning for the past five minutes. Apparently, he was avoiding her.
It’d been exactly one week since my weird encounter with Scott and Stiles last Friday. I hadn’t spoken to either of them since. Stiles had tried cornering me in the halls on several occasions, but I managed to get away each time. I honestly wanted nothing to do with them or their supernatural problems.
I just wanted to be normal for once.
So imagine my horror when Lydia went straight for their table in the cafeteria. Allison looked all too happy for another chance to talk to Scott, but I just stood frozen in place.
I knew it wouldn’t be possible to avoid them forever—Beacon Hills isn’t a huge town—but I wasn’t ready to confront them again yet. As I finally approached the table after everyone else, the two boys stared at me before sharing a long look.
Well, that can’t mean anything good.
“Why are they sitting with us?” Stiles leaned across the table to ask Scott, who just shrugged, as we all sat down. Man, someone needs to teach this guy how to whisper.
Scott ended up sandwiched between Lydia and Allison. Danny plopped down beside Stiles and Jackson took the chair at the head of the table. The only option left for me was on Stiles’ other side, so I begrudgingly sat there. I felt his eyes on me but did my best to ignore it.
“So, I hear they’re saying it was some type of animal attack. Probably a cougar?” Danny played with his apple and leaned his elbows on the table.
I assumed he was talking about the poor man who’d been brutally attacked in one of the school busses overnight. There were enough rumors going around school to host an entire newscast, but no one really knew anything for sure.
“I heard mountain lion.” Jackson corrected.
“A cougar is a mountain lion.” Lydia muttered, seemingly embarrassed to know that fact. She constantly downplayed her intelligence, but I knew she was practically a genius.
Jackson furrowed his brows at her in annoyance. “Who cares? The guy was probably just some homeless tweaker who was gonna die anyway.”
Stiles put down his half peeled orange and fished his phone from his back pocket. Within seconds he had a news article about the incident pulled up.
“Actually, I just found out who it is. Check it out.” He put his phone in the middle of the table so everyone could see.
I had to lean forward to get a glimpse of the small screen, which had my shoulder just a couple inches shy of resting on Stiles’ arm. I chewed on my bottom lip as I felt the warmth from his body. He let out a quick huff and stiffened beside me, so I took that as a sign to back away. My cheeks grew hot as I leaned back into my chair and avoided his wandering gaze.
The video he played stated that the victim was a bus driver for the district. Stiles and Scott shared a wide-eyed look that told me there was more to the story before Lydia changed the subject to a double date she wanted Allison and Scott to go on tonight.
They both looked uncomfortable with the idea, but eventually agreed, even after Jackson said it would be more fun to stab himself in the face with his fork than hangout with Scott. A little dramatic, if you ask me. But whatever. I was just glad I wouldn’t have to sit through it with them.
Lunch ended shortly after, and everyone dissipated quickly. I had plans to meet Allison at our lockers after school so she could drive me home in her new car, but I wouldn’t see any of my friends until then.
I collected my things and stood to leave, but stopped when a hand wrapped around my bicep.
“Not so fast.” It was Stiles. He looked from side to side before leaning only a few inches away and once again failing at whispering. “Have you told them?”
“Told who what?” I decided to play dumb and he cocked his head at me in annoyance.
“Come on, Y/N. You know what I mean. The wolfy stuff?” He waved his free hand around as he talked.
“Look, I don’t want anything to do with you, Scott, or the supernatural.” I tried to make that sound believable. It wasn’t that I was lying. Its’s just, without all the weird things going on, I would love to be both his and Scott’s friends. I just couldn’t risk getting involved in this kind of thing.
His eyes twitched at me and I sighed. “I don’t plan on telling anyone.”
“Okay. Good. Because Derek and Scott? They can’t afford...”
Out of nowhere, a sudden wave of dizziness washed over me. Stiles’ voice faded away until all I could hear was a low ringing in my ears. The ground tilted beneath me and I stumbled to the side, growing faint. Stiles’ eyes widened and he pulled me upright with the hand that was still holding onto me.
I could see his lips moving, but no sound reached my ears. It was like his words had somehow triggered an episode. I closed my eyes tightly but instantly regretted that decision as images flashed through my mind quickly. It was Scott, fighting someone. Or something. He was in a dilapidated building that looked like it was going to crumble to the ground any second.
After a moment I realized it was the Hale house, and the monster he was fighting was Derek. He looked different. Almost animalistic. Like...a wolf.
I gasped myself out of the vision, and Stiles’ panicked voice filled my ears in a rush.
“What is that? What are you doing? Are you having a stroke or something?”
I tried to catch my breath and piece together everything I’d just seen. Whatever it was, I gathered that Scott would be in serious danger if he came anywhere near Derek today. I hesitated, not wanting to sound crazy, but then remembered Stiles had just seen that whole thing.
“You can’t let Scott go to Derek’s tonight.” I sounded way more worried than I’d meant to as I hurried to get the words out.
“Derek?” Stiles’ thin brows pinched in question. “We had him arrested a few days ago.”
I blinked, surprised. I knew he was in jail, because I’d heard the Sheriff talking in the hall this morning about his upcoming release. But I had no idea Scott and Stiles were to blame. That might explain why Derek would want to kill Scott...
“You didn’t hear? He was released this morning. They determined the animal that attacked the bus driver was a...” I trailed off, my eyes growing wide as I put the pieces together. “Wolf.”
Stiles’ face mirrored the horror I felt inside as he finally let go of my arm and stumbled back a few steps. “Yeah. We’re dead.”
                                                --------------------
I fidgeted with my hands in my lap as I sat on Allison’s bed. She and Lydia were picking out what they wanted to wear for their double date tonight, but I could hardly focus on a word they were saying.
My stomach was in knots and my anxiety was only rising with each passing minute. I didn’t even know Scott well, but the thought of him being killed by Derek was still unsettling. I’d already figured out that Derek is a werewolf. And most likely a murderer.
The police and hospital staff determined that a wolf killed the bus driver, but there haven’t been any wolf sightings in Beacon Hills for nearly sixty years.
Yes, I looked it up.
All signs pointed to Derek, and I could feel that my earlier vision was getting progressively closer to coming true. I had no idea how, but if my jitters were any indication, nothing good was coming.
“Y/N?” I snapped back into the present at the sound of Lydia’s voice.
I looked up from my hands to see that both of them were staring at me expectantly.
“Um.” I cleared my throat. “What?”
Lydia rolled her eyes and put her hands on her hips. “I said, Allison’s taste is dwindling by the minute. Don't you agree? Come take a look.”
I hesitantly joined them at her closet and flicked through her clothes. They weren't terrible by any means. Definitely not mine or Lydia’s style, but they didn't have to be. I found a black shirt with glittering sequins on the front and pulled it free.
“What about this?”
Lydia hummed and watched Allison hold it up after she’d taken it from me.
Just then, Allison’s bedroom door popped open gently. Her dad walked in with a pleasant smile on his lips. He was pulling his arms through a green jacket that complimented his red flannel shirt, but stopped with one arm still free.
His eyes traveled over the three of us. “Sorry, I forgot to knock.”
Lydia threw herself on the bed and landed with one arm propped beneath her head and the other on her hip. What the hell was she doing and why was she making that seductive face? “Hey, Mr. Argent.”
Allison tucked her hair behind her ears and dropped the shirt beside Lydia. “Dad. Did you need something?”
Her demeanor had instantly changed the second he walked in. I knew they had a good relationship for the most part, but she clearly didn’t approve of him being in here right now.
“I wanted to tell you that you’re staying in tonight.” He continued putting on his jacket casually, as if he didn’t just ruin her plans.
“What? I’m going out with my friends tonight.” Her eyes widened in shock at his words.
I suddenly felt out of place. The last thing I wanted to listen to was one of my friends fighting with their parents. It just was plain awkward. Lydia sat up on the bed and I could’ve sworn I saw a little disappointed frown pull at her lips.
“Not while some animal is out there attacking people.” He shook his head like he couldn’t believe that Allison wanted to leave the house at all.
I mean, he had a point. There was a psycho killer out there. They just didn’t know that it also happened to be a mythical creature. And a brooding recluse in leather.
“Dad! I... I’m—” Allison raised her voice and threw her arms down in frustration.
“Hey, hey.” Her dad interrupted with a stern look. “It’s out of my hands. There’s a curfew. No one’s allowed out past nine thirty.”
I had actually forgotten about that. It was pretty dumb, really. It wasn’t like an animal would look at the clock and say, “Oh, crap. It’s not nine thirty yet. Can’t attack anyone for ten more minutes.”
Allison’s dad turned to leave and she huffed. Looks like they’ll have to find another way to go on their date.
                                                    ------------------
It was nearly midnight now, and I hadn’t heard any grief filled screaming from next door, so I figured Scott was okay. The car in the driveway let me know that his mom was home and I took that as another good sign. He probably was too. I needed to stop freaking out.
I was home alone, which didn’t help. There wouldn’t be anyone here to distract me from my mounting anxiety until five in the morning, when mom got off of work. To pass the time, I put on a random trash reality show and laid mindlessly on the couch.
I didn’t want to think right now. I wanted a distraction from the craziness that was ensuing all around me, and TV was always reliable.
I nearly had a heart attack when someone began aggressively banging on the front door. It wasn’t even close to normal knocking. No, it was I’m being chased by an axe murderer and you need to let me in right now before I’m decapitated kind of hammering.
I jumped to my feet and jogged to the door to see who it was, afraid something was wrong. I pressed my eye to the peep hole and frowned in confusion, the wood vibrating beneath my fingers. The incessant pounding continued up until the very moment I swung the door open.
I stared expectantly at the boy in front of me, who still had his right hand raised as if he were going to continue trying to wake up the whole damn neighborhood.
“Scott’s not home.” Stiles somehow managed to be out of breath from the short walk between our houses.
A few tense beats of silence passed between us as I waited for him to continue. When it was clear that he wasn’t going to, I prodded. “And?”
“And that’s bad. Very very bad.”
I let my eyes sweep over him, half convinced that he was drunk or something. He wasn’t making any sense. For starters, why would I care if Scott is home or not? And why was he in such a frenzy over it? It looked like he’d jumped out of bed and ran straight here. He was only wearing a pair of dark wash jeans and a grey t-shirt with a skull on it, so I knew he hadn’t taken his time in getting ready. If he had, he’d be wearing at least two other layers.
“I already checked Allison’s. His mom thought he was still on the date. He isn’t answering any of my texts.” Stiles was rambling, clearly very worked up.
I moved to pull my phone out of my back pocket. “I’ll just call Allison, I’m sure she knows where—”
“No!” Stiles slapped it out of my hand and I watched as it clattered onto the concrete a few feet away.
My jaw dropped in shock and his eyes widened as if realizing what he just did. He stood frozen for a moment before scooping it up and shoving it into the pocket of his jacket.
“Are you crazy? Give that back.” I took a small step outside, but didn’t go far. I still wasn't wearing any shoes.
He shook his head quickly. “He has to be at Derek’s. You’re coming with me.”
“Okay, now I know you’re crazy.” I let out a humorless laugh but grew serious again when he just stared at me with his wide caramel eyes. “Why would I come with you?”
“All I have is my Jeep and a baseball bat, but I need to make sure he’s okay. I’m slightly terrified. And I have your phone.”
I frowned. So he was holding it hostage now. There was no way I would ever willingly set foot on that property again. The last time I was there, I saw half of a dead body. I did not want to see the other half. Or a new dead body, like Scott’s.
There was absolutely no way.
                                                 ——————
The Jeep skidded to a stop outside the Hale house. It was so abrupt that I whipped forward in the passenger seat, my face just barely missing the dashboard due to my seatbelt.
Stiles sent me a sheepish, lopsided smile before bolting from the car. I rolled my eyes up to the sky and sighed. I was so going to regret this.
I jumped out and followed him to the front door, noticing that Scott’s bike was laying beside the porch. I silently pointed at it and Stiles stiffened as he stood with one hand on the door. That wasn’t exactly a good sign.
Suddenly, Scott’s voice echoed from inside.
“Derek! I know you’re here. I know what you did!” He sounded frantic.
Stiles immediately ran into the house and I had no choice but to follow. Scott whipped around at the sound of the door slamming open. His wide eyes moved from Stiles to me in confusion.
“I didn't do anything.” Derek’s disembodied voice drifted from somewhere upstairs.
Seemingly forgetting about our existence, Scott turned back to the wide staircase in front of him.
“You killed him!” He called upward.
He must be talking about the bus driver. It was only logical that Derek was the murderer, but why Scott thought it was a good idea to confront him about it, I had no idea. He must have a death wish. My heart started hammering in my chest. I didn’t want to be anywhere near the guy.
“He died...” Derek responded, sounding as ominous as ever.
Scott took the first step. “Like your sister died?”
His sister?
“My sister was missing.” His voice raised a little in anger. He was still nowhere to be seen. “I came here looking for her.”
“Well, you found her.” Scott continued moving up the stairs slowly, looking for Derek with each movement.
“I found her in pieces! Being used as bait to catch me!” His voice echoed throughout the entire house now as he grew louder. Scott was pissing him off, which was quite possibly the dumbest thing I’d ever witnessed.
Oh, shit. The body in the yard was his sister. My blood ran cold. What kind of sick bastard kills their own family? Being here was such a bad idea.
Scott was at the top of the stairs now, turning in circles slowly. “I think you killed them both, and I’m going to tell everyone. Starting with the sheriff.”
Stiles stiffened beside me at the mention of his father. I didn’t blame him. He may be the sheriff, but that didn't exactly qualify him to investigate supernatural murders. I saw a shadow shift upstairs and my heart plummeted into my stomach.
“Watch out!” I called, but it was too late.
Derek appeared from the darkness and shoved Scott down the stairs violently. I gasped and covered my mouth as he tumbled down like a rag doll. Derek just stood at the top, watching. Stiles jerked into motion, running to his side as he lay crumbled on the hardwood floors.
Scott pushed himself up to his knees and groaned. Then, he lifted his head and growled loudly at Stiles. His eyes widened in fear and he stumbled back, falling on his ass. He scrambled away as fast as he could, rejoining my side.
All I could do was stare with wide eyes, my jaw almost hitting the floor. Scott looked half animal, half human. His eyes were glowing bright yellow, his brow was thicker, his ears were pointy, and he had deadly long canines. His fingernails had been replaced by lethal claws. He was in full werewolf mode.
Derek jumped down the entire staircase in one fluid motion. When he landed gracefully on his feet, Stiles gripped my arms and tugged me backwards. I stumbled into him, my back hitting his chest, but I was too shocked by the sight before me to move away. We ducked down beside the staircase.
The two werewolves stared at each other for a long moment before Scott clutched the lapels of Derek’s jacket and threw him into the air. I couldn’t help but gasp as he went flying through a nearby wall. Scott was strong as hell, which would be cool in any other situation, but right now it was kind of terrifying. The house fell into silence as Derek collected himself in the other room.
“Get out of here.” Scott growled in our direction, his voice thick and guttural.
He didn’t need to tell me twice. I was about to do just that, when Derek came striding back into the foyer. I froze in a half crouched position until Stiles pulled me back down against him. If we weren't in danger right now, I would've blushed at our close proximity. My back was pressed to his chest again, and he had a hand clasped around one of my shoulders to hold me in place.
“That was cute.” Derek slowly removed his leather jacket and discarded it on the floor.
Oh, God. That couldn't be good.
The two beasts growled at each other while walking in circles before Derek suddenly lifted Scott by the shoulders and slammed him back into a wall right in front of where we hid. Stiles let go of my shoulder to grip one of my hands tightly as we stumbled up the stairs, having nowhere else to go.
Derek looked utterly petrifying. He was way bigger than Scott, and clearly stronger. He was pretty much handing him his ass in this fight already, but it looked like he was holding back at the same time. I didn’t doubt for a second that he could easily end it at any moment.
He landed punch after punch, and all Stiles and I could do was watch. At that moment, I realized he hadn’t even brought his bat inside. We were utterly useless.
It seemed to go on forever. Scott landed some punches, but it was nothing compared to the damage Derek was doing. I let out a shaky breath when I realized I’d been holding it in for several seconds. I cringed as Derek lifted Scott into the air by his neck, only to slam him down onto the floor. He repeated this action several times, until Scott was left groaning on the ground in a crumpled heap.
Then, they both shifted back to normal.
“I didn’t kill him.” Derek clenched his fists and took a threatening step toward Scott. “Neither of us did. It’s not your fault, and it’s not mine.”
“This? This is all your fault! You ruined my life!” Scott, being the dumbass that he is, got in Derek’s face and yelled his frustrations.
“No, I didn’t.” Derek insisted, raising his voice a little too.
“You’re the one who bit me.”
“No, I’m not.”
I shifted uncomfortably beside Stiles. It looked like the fighting was over, but that didn't make me want to be here any more. This place would give me the creeps even if there weren’t two werewolves bickering in front of me.
“This seems like a private conversation.” I muttered and popped to my feet. He spazzed out and grabbed my arms quickly.
“Are you insane?” He forced me back down with a glare.
“What?!” Scott suddenly shouted, and I jumped.
“I’m not the one who bit you.”
Scott fell back onto a nasty green couch behind him. That news had taken the air right from his lungs. He stared at the dusty floors for a long moment, processing. “There’s another...”
“Its called an alpha. It’s the most dangerous of our kind. You and I, we’re betas. This thing is more powerful, more animal, than either of us. My sister came here looking for him. Now I’m trying to find him, but I don’t think I can do it without you.” Derek was looking at Scott intensely, urging him to listen. To help him.
I wasn't entirely sure that he was even telling the truth. It really did look like he killed that girl. His sister. Half of her was buried in his yard, for God’s sake. We didn't know him at all. Why should be just believe him?
“Why me?” Scott asked breathlessly. It seemed he was a lot more willing to go along with this.
“Because he’s the one that bit you.” I stiffened. Didn't that mean they were somehow connected? I’d done as much reading about werewolves as possible, but there wasn't as much online as you would think.
“You’re part of his pack. It’s you, Scott. You’re the one he wants.”
“You don't believe this, do you?” I whispered to Stiles, who shook his head solemnly.
“Not for a second.”

I have a feeling your ask box and I are going to be familiar. You might be hot-taked out after that killer Satomi discourse. But whenever you’ve got it in you, I’d sure love to hear what you think about Kira and her Jeff-deemed-absolutely-necessary departure.
Oh, definitely. And I do love content, so...
Kira Yukimura was done so dirty by the writers and Jeffrey “I’m not racist I’ll prove it by arguing to poc calling me out for it on twitter” Davis. Her treatment was racist, tokenizing, and it wasn’t even high-brow racism. It was sloppy and lazy. If you’re gonna write all your characters of color off the show, commit to it. She went to the desert like 5 times before she stayed. Cowards.
Kira was only meant to be on the show for the Nogitsune storyline in 3b. However, fans liked her so much that, as with Theo in season 6, she was brought back for more episodes. The difference is that Cody Christian is white-passing and male and Arden Cho is not. Female characters don’t exist on Teen Wolf without a relationship to a male character. Hayden existed for Liam. Tracy existed for Theo. Melissa existed for Scott and Argent. Allison existed for Scott. Lydia, the female character with the most screentime of all of them, spent a lot of her time existing in relationship to Jackson, Stiles, Parrish (shudder), and other male main characters. Women on the show were reduced to love interests and mothers more often than not, and Kira was the same.
I loved her character. I loved her arc. I loved Arden Cho, who in real life is as sweet and kind as her character. I enjoyed her parents, both Noshiko, who’s surprisingly funny and a total badass, and Ken, who’s the most wholesome man in the universe. The only straight man we stan. I love him.
Anyways, Kira was getting a fun arc outside of being Scott’s girlfriend, with her parents and her powers and all, and then wham, white-passing boy shows up and no more main character status for Kira. Guess there wasn’t enough room to keep the only interesting plot line of all the ones happening in s5. Personally, I would have chosen Kira over the Marrish garbage fire of underage relationships, but that’s just me.
Then. The Skinwalkers. I could write a whole essay about them, but this is a Kira post, so I’ll limit it to her. At least Luther got sent to the moon for a reason. Kira got sent to the desert for “rEaSoNs”. There was no indication that her power was out of control, but every indication it wasn’t. She was growing and learning. Then, suddenly, she was “too powerful” so she had to go to the desert and disappear for a few episodes and then go back and forth for a while before they wrapped up sending Theo to the upside down or wherever he went and she could finally go... hang out with the people who we were told could help her control her power but who only threw spears at her and gave her a season finale ex machina. Then back to the desert with you!
You can tell something was going on backstage in her treatment. Arden Cho wasn’t informed she was being cut, she had to be told by fans. Her departure was carried out as swiftly as possible, and not for any real reason. Kira would have been tremendously helpful against the hunters and in a lot of later scenes, against the Ghost Riders (and let me remind everyone that KIRA WAS THE ONE WHO TOLD LYDIA ABOUT THE WILD HUNT), against pretty much anything. Immune to electrocution? Don’t help with the hunters who love electrocuting people. Sloppy writing through and through.
And what’s more is that Kira was cut just in time for the Scalia thing, which was so fucking rushed oh my GOD nothing has ever been less natural- this is a Kira post, calm down capsicle. Anyways, Kira got replaced as Scott’s love interest and not much else by a white girl, no hate on Malia or Shelley but much on the writers. I loved Malia and Kira’s friendship, and if anyone should have gotten with Malia, it should have been Kira. (The first time I saw Malia I wondered if we were getting another ambiguously brown character, actually, but no, just Georgian and well-tanned. But I bet not all my followers knew Tracy was played by a Chinese and Cherokee actor. Or that Nolan was played by a Mexican and Caxcan actor. Or that Theo was played by a Penobscot Native actor. The list goes on of white-passing POC who got to stay marginally longer than Black or brown characters.) The “Scott ends up with a white girl he has no chemistry with” threw me for many loops, especially after I was surprised to find myself liking Scira, even though I’m usually bored by straight relationships because of their one-sided focus and nonexistent chemistry. Kira got to be a character outside of Scott, and I liked their romance better for it, and then desert for a thousand years!
TLDR on the canon end of things is that Kira and Arden were done dirty by a group of powerful white men who wanted to tell a cishet white story.
Now, on the fandom end of things, I’m stepping into the real hot water. It’s safe to say that Kira’s story was sloppy and Arden didn’t deserve that ending, but it’s less safe to say that this fandom doesn’t treat her that well either. Here’s the most popular x Scott ships on Ao3, under the Teen Wolf tag with no other filters.
Tumblr media
Scott and Allison. Scott and Stiles. Scott and Isaac. Then Scott and Kira, in dead last. Scott and Malia don’t even make the top ships list, probably because of how rushed and sloppy it was, but I digress.
People love Scott and Allison a lot, and I get that. I liked her too. I was also sad when she died. But, unlike a lot of sentiment I see in this fandom, I don’t think she should have been brought back to fight the beast in season 5 and get back with Scott. Not only do I think bringing characters back to life without very good reason and explanation (which they wouldn’t have, come on) cheapens their death, and that bringing characters back to life is weak storytelling in general, but let’s recall that Scira is still a thing in season 5. They’re still madly in love when Kira leaves. Allison should not have come back and love-triangled so Kira could be written off for a different white girl or so the massive amount of young white girls in the fandom who love Allison would be angry at Kira for breaking up their OTP. That would have been the one thing that could have made season 5 worse. (Well, they could have made Marrish a thing or killed Mason, but Jeff Davis thought about it and a shiver went down his spine because the ghost of Christmas future hears my name in its nightmares.)
Even if people aren’t “bring Allison back” campers, they largely ignore Kira’s entire existence. People who post gifsets and posts about Allison or Lydia don’t give anywhere near the same amount of attention to Kira. I see more Malia posts, actually. And while all of them had more runtime than Kira, none of them paired with Scott quite as perfectly, or had such strong independent storylines. Lydia almost did, but it kept petering out and she kept going back to main plot only. I see lots of appreciation posts for Allison and Lydia and Malia and the men, obviously, but NOTHING for Kira or Arden Cho. We all know what happened backstage because we read the same post in 2016 or whenever and then we all stopped talking about it.
Even the racism in this fandom skips Kira. Scott antis, I’m looking (controversially) at you. I’m glad Kira isn’t the subject of a bunch of obvious racism (as much as “bring Allison back!” makes it subtle), but not because she’s a forgotten side character. Kira made the main credit sequence! She has a sword! What else could you all POSSIBLY want?
And here’s where I burn at the stake: Kira was written off her own damn “look Fun Japanese mythology” storyline half the time so it could center around Stiles. A white boy. There were numerous issues with the mythology before that — “Oni” means demon, not “firefly samurai ninja”, and it refers to a similar mythology as the western “fae”, a large collection of creatures benevolent, malevolent, and in between, with different traits and origins. Kitsunes are meant to be red or white, not gold, and they’re foxes, not cats, animation team. “Nogitsune” refers to the malevolent class of “low” Kitsune, or “wild” Kitsune, who didn’t align themselves with the goddess Inari and do divine and pious work. There are many of them and the most they really do is harass people at shrines, not murder indiscriminately for funsies. They’re only malevolent in that they like doing bad deeds, not that they’re serial killers. And they’re not one of the usual 13 low Kitsune, two of which are bad of their own accord! (Spirit and Air. Google it!) They are meant to be dealt with by Inari-aligned high Kitsune, not your average tricky fox. Among other things.
So Stiles. Outside of the Kira storyline, he’s used in a lot of fandom discourse about racism and sexism. And queerbaiting. Y’all love a scrawny white boy. Anyways, Stiles gets possessed by the Nogitsune (that’s NOT how that works but okay Jeffrey) and suddenly s3 is about him. Kira’s not evil, now let’s look at Stiles being tired and messy and killing people. Dylan #1 did a great job playing that part, no hate on him, but the fact that a white boy became the main character in a Japanese (or Korean, if you’re Jeff, same thing) girl’s storyline is. Hmm. How do you call it? Blatant racism. And erasure. Which is racism. YIKES, Jeff. There is so much wrong with Stiles being the Nogitsune and controlling the Oni and his whole story (and oh my god the other guy who got possessed was also a white boy instead of a Japanese character played by the same actress Jesus fucking Christ). I’m not going into that, because that’s its own essay.
Anyways, because of how much this fandom loves Stiles, it’s easy to ignore how Kira and Japanese characters were treated. People project onto Stiles with glee. He’s white. He’s awkward. He’s (supposedly) not super attractive. (Yikes.) He’s ditzy and bouncy and all that fun stuff, but he also always saves the day. He got written off for most of 6b and he still saved the stupid day. And hey, dark!Stiles (let’s not get into calling him dark instead of Nogitsune that’s just too much wine we’d have to crack open to say it) is a fun trope and people like posting and creating about him. Except that he’s the white boy who took Kira’s storyline. Her independent story about Kitsune and the like was all given over to him, not just by the show, but by the fandom. So now every post about Kitsune is a Stiles post, even if it started with Kira. And because it’s Stiles, and this fandom loves him, and is easily offended by people leaning too hard on the glass house around them and him, Kira gets forgotten and swept aside. Everyone would rather talk about Stiles. Who is incapable of bad. Or cultural appropriation. But if you attack him you’re being ableist because he has ADHD. This is why I relate to Nolan for anxiety feels instead.
TLDR on the fandom end, y’all don’t treat Kira better than the show did. I see a few posts here and there from some dedicated users — typically the same people posting about Boyd, Deaton, Morrell, yeah that’s it I’m the only one posting about Kali. (Un-fun fact: Kali was not played by an Indian actor, but by a half-Black actor. Jeff Davis, when called out on twitter, said “wow ok idiots we tried to find an Indian actress but it was hard actually SUPER hard so shut up and stop telling me how to write MY show”, which is paraphrasing with intent to make fun, but exactly what he said.) Y’all who know about Arden and Kira should diversify your blogs to include more POC, especially ones where the actor AND character were rudely sidelined for vague white people reasons. Post gifs of Kira along with Allison, Lydia, and Malia. Post ship stuff of Scira too. Post about kitsunes, the origin story of the Nogitsune, when you post about the white boy who became the main character of that arc. Call the show out. Call the fandom out. Stop making every bit and piece of her story about Czechoslovakia White Boy. Demand Kira in any future runs of the show, if season 7 or whatever does happen. Include her in your fanfictions, in your headcanons, in your art. You don’t have to love her, but you have to remember that she’s as there as any of the white characters are.
This take is very hot. If I receive racist asks and/or messages about this, I’m going to make fun of each and every sender.

FAVES & FAILS: #1 (Teen Wolf)
I’ve decided to do this questionnaire when a show/book series/movies where I answer these questions with fun gifs too (its Tumblr, what did you expect?), if you want more info, the original idea post with links to each of my completed lists is here ⚡️. A bunch of my faves have already ended so getting all of these out will take a minute, but I’m aiming to post a new one twice per week. 🤞🏻Anyway, enjoy!! OH!! ALSO, I’ll be discussing plot elements in this list so...SPOILER ALERT!!
Tumblr media
TV Show FAVES and FAILS: TEEN WOLF
FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: STILES STILINSKI
HANDS DOWN, no question about it! He was the soul of the show, and funny, and so incredibly human on a show full of the inhuman, and that was what made him so integral.  Anyway, I could go on forever about how much I love Stiles, but here’s a gif:
Tumblr media
LEAST FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER: GERARD ARGENT
There isn’t really a male that makes me want to punch something, so good for the writers, I guess?
Tumblr media
FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: LYDIA MARTIN
I really want to say Allison but it HAS to be Lydia, hands down! Her character development from a girl pretending to be vapid and shallow and who hid her genius so she could “fit in”, to a strong, powerful, confident woman secure in who she really is and the power inside of her (figuratively AND literally, lol), this girl is the real MVP.
Tumblr media
LEAST FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER: MONROE
This was hard because there are several female characters that made me want to throw my laptop out of the window.  The short list is Kate Argent, Allison’s mom... I could go on... but Monroe’s systematic attempt to wipe all supernaturals out of Beacon Hills and then maybe the rest of the world gave me fucking high blood pressure and a rage issue. I don't care how “scared” you are, killing a kid who hasn't done anything wrong just because they are different than you is some fucked up, borderline genocidal bullshit. And she survived the finale!!? Like I had to deal with her self-righteous smirky attitude and you didn't even have the decency to punch her in the face and let me watch?!? Rude.
Tumblr media
THE CHARACTER THAT DESERVED BETTER: Aiden (and kind of Ethan)
I badly want to say Allison again here because I love and miss her tons. But she died protecting her family and friends and I believe that she is happy wherever she went afterward.  Watching Aiden die in his twin brother’s arms I don’t know who I felt the worst for.  The boy dying, or his brother who now has to live without him... I’m gonna go cry now, brb.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE DEADWEIGHT CHARACTER WE SHOULD’VE DUMPED IN 2009: Kate Argent
Luckily she was not a regularly appearing character, but when she showed up it was always “for revenge” and I'm like...can we just...not this season? I was having a lovely time and then you showed up with your petty anger for whatever fucking shit that happened in, like season one.  Like, honey... if it’s been so long since you’ve been relevant that I have to google what you’re upset about because I have honestly forgotten...maybe it’s time to let that shit go.  Kindly fuck off now, please...
Tumblr media
OVERHYPED CHARACTER: Derek Hale
Like, don’t get me wrong, he’s great and I loved when he was on the show, but I feel like some people think he carried the show and it wouldn't survive without him.  Well, surprise! because he went away after season 4 and I still think some of their best shit came in season 5 and the beginning of season 6.
Tumblr media
UNDERHYPED CHARACTER: Deaton
Um, he was basically Scott’s druid emissary and he got no recognition for it.  He saved all of the main pack members’ lives at least once.  Also he didn't make Stiles pay for the windows, so he’s apparently not an asshole.
Tumblr media
OVERHYPED SHIP: Scott and Malia
I feel like they had to adjust the final season A TON because of Dylan’s injury and Kira not coming back and I think the writers panicked when they didn't know who to put Scott with (because our leading man could never not have a girlfriend, *gasp* THE HORROR!) because Lydia needed to be with Stiles and I think they picked Malia because she was basically the only one left...I was never into it.  In fact, when my friend texted me after we watched the episode where they get together, my response back to her was literally “meh 🤷🏻‍♀️”.
Tumblr media
UNDERHYPED SHIP: Allison and Isaac
It would’ve been so nice to see where that relationship went.  Don’t get me wrong, had she lived, I would’ve wanted Allison to end up with Scott.  But I loved that the show was willing to say that it is okay to fall in love more than once in your life.  Sometimes the shows aimed at a younger audience have a tendency to act like your first love has to be the one you’re with until you die and that’s just not realistic. It was nice that the writers didn't box these characters into that mold because it gave them more depth as characters.
Tumblr media
FAVORITE SHIP: Stiles and Lydia
I don’t know how to explain how much I love this pairing.  Like, from the beginning he saw her for how amazing she was and he supported her as she came into her powers and then she was always there making sure that someone was taking care of him when he was taking care of, literally, everyone else, and then when he disappeared SHE KNEW something was wrong nearly instantly, and ‘remeMBER I LOVE YOU’ I need to stop before this run-on sentence goes on forever.  ALSO they’re canon official, which never fucking happens for my ships so I’m fucking excited, sue me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FAVORITE VILLAIN: Deucalion
His backstory was well-developed and deep, he was clear with his goals, he actually executed said goals in a logical and timely manner, he was a fucking ALPHA OF ALPHAS, nuf said.
Tumblr media
MOST HEARTBREAKING MOMENT: Allison’s Death
Hands down, the most heartbreaking moment on the show, and I will fight anyone who comes at me with a different opinion. Because like--she was smiling when she was stabbed because she had figured out a way to help her friends and then she died in Scott’s arms and told him she loved him even though they weren’t together she still loved him and he still loved her, and I truly believe that she had zero regrets when she died, and how bittersweet is that???!  But Scott couldn't take her pain because it didn’t hurt anymore, and Lydia had to feel her best friend die and she screamed Allison’s name and if you are not hurting right now are you a monster???!?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FAVORITE STORYLINE: Eichen House Escape/Dread Doctors in Season 5
It was hard to pick between the Dark Druid storyline in season 3A, but the Eichen rescue/Lydia learning how to be a BAMF Banshee from Meredith while she was catatonic (ALSO ‘Stiles saved me’ I AM DEAD!!!), and the whole la bête du gévaudan thing was great, and reuniting the pack after Theo had royally fucked it up earlier that season, it was all just superb! *chef’s kiss*
Tumblr media
STORYLINE WE COULD’VE DONE WITHOUT: Like, the whole second half of the last season, TBH
It was a petty, counterintuitive, and just garbage. The monster was dumb, Monroe is a royal twat (as I stated above), and it didn't have a conclusion.  Like, the fuck? This isn't Game of Fucking Thrones you guys do not need to leave every season finale with so many loose ends it make people want to throw their laptops off of a cliff into a vat of hydrochloric acid.  And it was the LAST SEASON so there’s no hope of fixing this bullshit storyline. ugh, kill me now.
BIGGEST PLOTHOLE: Scott’s pretty selective “True Alpha” powers
They, like, kind of tried to pass it off as it taking a ton of energy so he can’t always do it all the time.  But he got through a mountain ash barrier to save Deaton and activated his True Alpha but then couldn't get into Eichen to get Lydia out because of the mountain ash...? oh and also where the fuck did Cora and Isaac go? (I, sincerely, hope he’s not still just chinning in fucking France wondering were Argent fucked off to)
Tumblr media
OVERALL MARKS OUT OF TEN (10 being that watching this show has probably increased your life’s worth by at least five percent; 1 being the only thing this show has given me is a stomach ulcer and trust issues):
8.75 out of 10.  This show was a blessing and I would definitely recommend it to other people. (mostly because I love to get people hooked on my favorite shows and then they're stuck and we can be tortured together).
Tumblr media
THE END! Thanks for reading my overly-long and overly-obsessive list.  Do come again soon.  I’ll probably have another of these up next week.  🤍🤍🤍

“B-b-b-but Derek Hale’s a failure and a shitty leader whose only purpose in the show was to be surpassed by Trash Wolf Scoot and make the audience realize what a great, competent, superior leader and better character Trash Wolf Scoot McCall is compared to him! Derek Hale got exactly what he deserved for refusing to obey Trash Wolf Scoot, really!!!!” https://princeescaluswords.tumblr.com/post/185664990955/stans-will-excuse-dereks-actions-by-portraying
russianspacegeckosexparty *whines and screeches and froths and drowns in his own bile because Teen Wolf fans and viewers have the nerve to prefer actually compelling fictional characters over his shitty idol Scott and because his shitty idol Scott is not EVERYONE’s fav*
Shitty, entitled middle aged white man & actual harasser PEW:
There are two competing impulses here in relation to the narrative. When these impulse are combined combined they form the toxic woobification also known as “Derek Deserves Nice Things.” This is the belief that Jeff Davis tortured Derek for no other reason than his and the audience’s sadistic amusement. They miss the writers’ goal: to show that in Derek’s role as a foil for Scott, he got exactly what he deserved for allowing his painful history to control him. Derek’s failures came from his inability to manage his trauma, to separate the people who hurt him from the people who didn’t.
In Season 1 and Season 2, Derek let his fear of the Argents and his shame about his actions with Kate (and Paige) influence his actions. He didn’t trust Scott; he didn’t share information freely with Scott; he relied on anger and its attendant violence to keep him safe. It didn’t work.
(It’s noticeable that when Derek let go of the past – when he started to trust Scott, when he started sharing information with Scott, when he did things like hand out Halloween candy to children – he got nice things! Derek ended Season 4 – a season which showed him being open, friendly, trusting, and complimenting and encouraging Scott – with a sexy, protective girlfriend; revenge on his tormentor, and the inheritance of his mother’s legacy!)
The first impulse was the need to make Derek more important than Scott McCall. The thought that Derek Hale was only there for Scott to learn what not to do never even occurred to them, even though the name of the show was Teen Wolf. Derek’s aggression, violence, and lies weren’t seen by them as obstacles for Scott McCall to overcome – which they were definitely intended to be by the writers. When the narrative had Scott overcoming and surpassing Derek, they were flabbergasted. Derek was a hot white man with an incredible body and a sad backstory. To viewers weaned on television culture, he should have been the lead – or if not the lead, the controlling narrative of the show. It should be Derek’s story that took precedence. But it wasn’t!
The second impulse was, of course, Sterek. There’s nothing wrong with the ship itself, as long as the viewers realized that – no matter what the MTV PR department said – it never had a chance of happening. Regardless of subjective chemistry, Derek wasn’t going to have a romantic relationship with Stiles because it would have taken too much focus off of the actual leader and star of his own show Scott McCall/Tyler Posey. It could have happened, if the show was about Stiles or Derek, but it’s not, and having a relationship between the lead’s two foils, including one closely echoing Derek’s backstory and being illegal, would have required too much focus.
Given these two impulses, the audience had to sell themselves the story that Derek Deserved Nice Things, that he was Not a Failwolf, in order to satisfy them. So that’s why they ignored the terrible things Derek did to others, especially to his own betas – seducing Erica, hurting Isaac, withholding information from all three of them – that sent two of them running for the hills and one of them running for Scott.
Cookie: Oh my god. Oh my god this is so horrible, what the fuck.
PEW: This is the belief that Jeff Davis tortured Derek for no other reason than his and the audience’s sadistic amusement.
!!! That is exactly what happened. Tyler has remarked on how he had to work any scraps of backstory for Derek aside from Tall Dark and Brooding like he was trying to pull teeth. Dylan said in an interview that “Have you seen him? We have to torture him, otherwise everything is too sexy for him.” Derek was only there to be abused. And that’s fine! God knows I love a good whump, and it is a popular dynamic that one of the main characters always has to be. Think Jace Wayland from The Mortal Instruments, with his tragic backstory. Or Harry Potter, spending his childhood abused at worst and neglected at best. The only difference is, those characters got a break from the abuse, they had sanctuaries to go to and people who protected them, but Derek never did*.
*Except, of course, for Stiles, who protected Derek even when he hated him, even when he was afraid of him. I’m not even saying in a shippy way, but the only person who consistently was there to defend Derek was Stiles. Not Scott. Scott would never do anything for Derek unless he somehow got something out of it first; how about, trying to make Derek promise not to hurt Allison before being willing to free him from Kate’s torture dungeon? This even after Derek has done nothing to hurt Allison or imply he ever would, and going so far as to take her home when Scott decided going to a party was more important than learning how to werewolf, thus putting everyone, and Allison, in danger. This even after Derek has every right to hate Allison’s family, and not go out of his way to protect her. Which he absolutely did here.
I had to scroll back up for this, but: “the toxic woobification also known as “Derek Deserves Nice Things.”
How lacking in empathy do you have to be to think that one of the main characters deserving nice things is toxic? Derek Hale DOES deserve nice things, for fucks sake he’s EARNED them after everything he’s been through. (And, not to compare trauma because that is equally toxic, but since they seem intent on doing it anyway: Derek has been through much more and much more than Scott. He, more than anyone on the show, deserves to have a goddamn break and a little sympathy.)
I just. I can’t even touch on that last part about Derek deserving everything he got. That is so tone deaf and blind, how did PEW even manage to watch this show? Clearly he can’t see what’s right in front of him. Derek did not deserve what he got at all. Hell, NO ONE deserve the level of unending abuse Derek was put through for the sake of whump.
“Derek let his fear of the Argents and his shame about his actions with Kate (and Paige) influence his actions. He didn’t trust Scott; he didn’t share information freely with Scott.”
Yikes. First off, as I already said, Derek had every reason to fear the Argents. They murdered his family. Derek has no way of knowing how many of them were involved; the only one who couldn’t have been was Allison, since she was a child. But Chris? Victoria? Yeah, Derek was right to fear them. And even if you take away the death of his family, the Argents are HUNTERS. They KILL WEREWOLVES, something Scott never did manage to figure out because he was too concerned with getting his dick wet. Even going so far as to side with them in the worst moment of cinematic history, before he even knew them or had reason to defend them. Allison was a pretty girl, and Derek was telling him what her family did to his, and Scott decided the Pretty Girl won over the death of Derek’s family, children included.
As for trusting Scott? When did Scott every prove himself trustworthy? I’m sorry, but if someone looked me in the eyes and told me that maybe my family deserved to burn alive, I wouldn’t ever trust them. There is nothing they could do to earn my trust after that. But eventually Derek comes around, showing that he is in fact a better person that I am. Because I would have thrown Scott right at the Argent’s feet for that comment, and let them see just how merciful they really are. And that isn’t even touching on how Scott lied to Allison about her mother’s pack, directly resulting in her hunting down Derek and his pack, and attempting to kill two of her classmates. Conveniently, the two people Scott had claimed to care about when it was convenient for him as a way to keep Derek from building a pack.
“The thought that Derek Hale was only there for Scott to learn what not to do never even occurred to them.” No character’s sole purpose is to be a foil. A character may be designed as a foil, but first and foremost, they are their own character. A thought that apparently never occurred to PEW. As much as he wishes it did, the show did not revolve around Scott, and neither did the characters. Because while he was the main character, he was not it’s only character.
“Sterek. There’s nothing wrong with the ship itself, as long as the viewers realized that  – no matter what the MTV PR department said – it never had a chance of happening.”
Once again, PEW entirely misses the point. I don’t think anyone ever genuinely believed Sterek was going to be canon. We all knew better than that, we were not yet in an age where queer relationships happen on screen for anything other than comic relief like a sideshow freak; there only briefly. They weren’t going to do that with their main characters, because then they would have to get rid of them! Like when they wrote off Danny and Ethan, and kept Mason and Corey mostly out of the picture when they were together, or when they brought back Ethan and Jackson for the very end-for no reason other than exploiting Colton coming out and getting those diversity points! (Which were very much not earned, in my opinion. It was pandering at best.)
It wasn’t the fact that Sterek was never going to be canon that made people so angry; it was the fact that Jeff kept dangling it in front of the fandom for years, once he saw how popular it was becoming. He would talk in interviews about how much he loved the Sterek dynamic, tweet about how much he supported it, and then write barely any scenes were Stiles and Derek interacted. We knew it wasn’t going to happen, and we didn’t appreciate being mocked.
“[...] and having a relationship between the lead’s two foils, including one closely echoing Derek’s backstory and being illegal, would have required too much focus..”
But it wasn’t too much focus when any other characters got together? No, of course not, because other relationships didn’t challenge Scott with their popularity. It’s okay not to like a ship, but don’t be so sanctimonious about it.
Also, illegal? Cute that he brings this up as a ‘concern’ when it comes to Sterek, but where was the outrage when they started pushing for Lydia and Parish? You know, that 24 year old cop fantasizing about showering/amking out with a 17 year old girl? I think the power dynamics with that are inherently far more problematic than little old Sterek.
“So that’s why they ignored the terrible things Derek did to others, especially to his own betas – seducing Erica, hurting Isaac, withholding information from all three of them – that sent two of them running for the hills and one of them running for Scott.”
The tag Derek Hale Is A Failwolf currently has 569 works in it. That’s a pretty good amount, considering many people don’t get into specific tags like that. I’ve never seen anyone ignore what Derek did; and on a broad level, no one is ignoring that Derek seducing Erica was kind of gross, or that hurting Isaac was wrong. Keeping information from them wasn’t the best idea either, but Derek did it from a place of trying to protect them. They were kids, and he was their alpha; he was trying to deal with the dangers like the alpha pack on his own because he didn’t want to put them in harms way. Unlike Scott who withholds information that directly puts them in harms way (see: lying to Allison about her mother).
Derek also hurts Isaac during training. Rough? Yes. Unnecessary? Well, I would say that depends. Derek was showing Isaac what his body was capable of doing; he could heal, something he never had before. You can’t deny that gave Isaac some new perspective and a hell of a lot of confidence, no longer afraid to be hurt.
And then you have Scott, who disgusting abuses Isaac to assert control over him. He was not trying to teach Isaac anything, he was just angry and jealous that Isaac wanted to kiss Allison, who had broken up with Scott, and made it clear that she didn’t want him waiting for her. They. Were. Not. Together. Scott had no claim to her, he wasn’t ‘defending her honor’, he was being an asshole ex. And Isaac paid the price, getting abused by his so called alpha. And what could he do in that situation? Scott was housing him; by challenging him, Isaac would be risking getting kicked out with nowhere else to go. A great situation to put an abuse survivor in. Scott had all the power and authority in their relationship, so do not try to paint Scott as the savior that welcomed him after he was banished by the big bad Derek.
As usual, PEW is watching a very different show than the rest of us. But it does not revolve around Scott, and it never did. The characters all had their own lives and motivations.
And, Derek Hale does in fact deserve nice things. Especially if those nice things involve a long vacation to somewhere that has no wifi, no cell reception, and no way to  be reached by a certain self-righteous teenager, with a certain human at his side.

1/9 So this started as a joke & then it fit until it didn't & now I don't know what to do so I'm sending it to you. You don't have to answer it if you don't want to, just take it as a fun (?) ramble. This'll probably be long, sorry. So I was in this conversation about how Teen Wolf missed out on having a big bad. The series long villain. And I made the joke "Well, they could've always stolen from Harry Potter, if they'd wanted to". And then I started thinking about it, if Teen Wolf *had* stolen
from Harry Potter how would that've worked out?
Hey anon! Since this is long, I’m gonna be breaking your ask down and responding to the individual pieces instead of trying to respond to it all at once at the end. Your parts will be bolded and mine won’t be.
First off, I think this is a really fun idea, I love thinking about how characters would fit in other situations. This will be extra tricky, though, since we’re trying to not only parallel characters but also individual season arcs to each of the books. I think what we’re going to end up with, probably, is a lot of elements that we can say connect (this situation is like that situation, this character is similar to that other character in some way) but might not really tie into a coherent narrative on its own. If we want to, we can look at it again later to see how TW could work if it broke more from its own structure and just became more of a loose Harry Potter AU, but for this one I’m mostly just going to focus on similarities and differences.
 Let’s see how we do!
One problem is how you would count the seasons. Are seasons 3A&B 1 season or 2? Either way it doesn't fit. You either end up with 6 seasons and 7 books or with 9 seasons and 7 books. So I took the first option, which leaves me 1 season short. But if TW *had* stolen from HP maybe they would've been more successfull *shrug*. So in the 1st book (very, very roughly summarised) the hero goes against the severely weakened big bad who (we later find 3/9 out) put the hero in this position in the 1st place. When applied to TW season 1 you get: Peter. (Sorry Peter fans, I like him too but for this ramble he's gonna be our big bad.)
There are definitely some fun parallels here.
We start off with Scott, a slightly awkward and out of place teen, definitely more optimistic than Harry but also in a better place physically than Harry, until one day he’s attacked by a crazed, half-feral Alpha werewolf (just as Harry was attacked by Voldemort, albeit earlier) and is introduced to the supernatural world. This attack, we’ll eventually learn, starts our hero down the path toward becoming a Super Special Chosen One/”True Alpha.” If neither of them had been attacked, chosen, by the Big Bad, this wouldn’t have happened). Scott’s skeptical at first, to say the least, but he’s introduced to new mentors and learns how to start harnessing his new abilities.
Throughout this, Scott seems to have a mysterious connection to the unseen enemy, shown in flashes of headache and visions of what the Alpha is doing. Scott suspects his brooding mentor figure Derek as being the enemy, due to his harsh and closed off attitude, but eventually realizes Derek’s been doing his best to protect him (so yes, Derek’s Snape in this, at least for book one). Eventually they have a showdown with the Big Bad (Alpha Peter and Voldemort), burning him (molotov and physical contact) and seemingly destroying him for good.
(If we wanted to change things up a little at the series’ start to tie in more with HP, we could have Rafael McCall still living with Scott. Having the drunk and generally abusive father still around would pull in more parallels between Scott’s pre-magic home life and Harry’s, and once he learns to harness his abilities he could use them to shift and scare the man into shaping up or getting out.)
The 2nd book: the hero fights a phantom of the big bad, a girl gets possesed by said phantom & a big snake petrifies people. Ok, so that kinda fits. Peter is still the big bad. The only thing that would need to change in seasons 1 & 2 is that Peters resurrection *doesn't* work (that comes later). So no Peter in 4/9 season 3 (what did he do in 3A besides narrate the flashback? who would narrate it now? Cora? what did he do in 3B? show Scott how to enter Stiles mind & anything else?).
This book/season is my favorite for parallels.
Ginny/Lydia (both redheaded secondary characters at this point) get taken in by a shadow of the seemingly defeated Big Bad, who appears as an attractive, charismatic young man to gain their trust while insidiously taking over their minds and forcing them to do his bidding and try to resurrect him.
Meanwhile, various people in Beacon Hills are targeted and paralyzed by a snakelike creature, and the heroes make it their mission to discover the guilty party. CoS has a recurring location/theme of bathrooms, while TWs2 has a recurring theme of swimming pools. …I don’t know what to do with that, except that it popped into my head as vaguely parallel :P
There are also a few smaller parallels, like the ineffectual Dueling club Snape and Lockhart co-run, which could be paralleled to Derek’s training sessions with his new betas, and the slightly stalker-esque photographer who runs around after our heroes, snapping pictures. (Yes, poor Colin Creevey is being tied in to Matt here.)
Book 3: a person from the heros past who they think is a villain isnt, a animal is a human and later helps the big bad to life. So for 3A we have, Scotts dad and for 3B Malia? (I kinda get a laugh out of making Scotts dad Sirius, but making Malia Pettigrew? maybe if she had been a villain in TW but with how everyone hates 5/9 her now, ugh) So Peter doesn't show up in 3A&B. Allison doesn't die (yet). Kate doesn't come back. (In HP the dead *stay* dead.) I guess Malia could kidnap Derek but better to keep Mexico for the end of season 4.
Well, you know I would have loved it if M ended up being a villain, or if there was something more complex to her story to explain all the things that don’t make sense. But... ok, that said, focusing on what actually happened in TW, we could potentially pull in Jennifer as Peter? Someone our group trusts, with a specific tie to one group member in particular, who ends up betraying them and kidnapping some of our heroes to be used in a dark ritual to gain power, there are definitely parallels there. Granted, that’s tying together books three and four, and that’s where this whole parallel starts to break down because I think there are definitely some elements from season three that fit better with book four, for example; not to mention that 3A and 3B are completely different stories with independent villains and climaxes, so trying to fit them both into PoA is just a recipe for confusion. I’m gonna put my focus on 3A, I think.
So we have Jennifer as Pettigrew, disguising herself as a friend until she’s revealed as the murderous Darach. We have our main characters’ loved ones waiting to be executed by dark magic (dementors), with Stiles, Allison, and Scott subbing in for Harry and Hermione to perform potentially dangerous magic (ice bath/time travel) to set them free.
I really want to tie Lupin in to someone but no one’s coming to mind unfortunately.
Which brings me to the next question... do I skip 3B (my favorite season) entirely, or do we try to parallel 3B to book 4? That would fix the six season/seven book problem. But for now I’m gonna stick with season 4/book 4 since that’s what you did.
So book 4: A competition keeps the heros occupied while the big bad plots his resurrection with someone the hero thinks is on his side & in the end a "friend" dies. So deadpool (hitlist!) = turnament & Meredith is Moody? The season ends in Mexico were Peter with the help of a 6/9 Banshee, kidnapped Derek & *something* from Scott resurrects himself. Maybe Allsion dies. How would Peter resurrect with only Scott knowing? idk
I’m going to jump in and mention that in the end of season four someone does die dramatically: Derek. And while he does revive afterward (...somehow), he leaves Beacon Hills, leaving the pack noticeably floundering and Stiles in particular moody and desperate to cling to the people he has left. So as far as s4=book 4, I think Derek holds up as a good parallel for that loss. (If we were doing 3B=book 4, Allison would be a good fit.)
The end of the season I think is the best parallel between this book and this season, since the hero is swept away to a new place unexpectedly and made part of a dark ritual. I know you mentioned not wanting Kate back, but she would make a good parallel for someone the group thought was dead (Barty Crouch Jr) who abducts the hero to complete the ritual.
Berserkers sub in for Death Eaters, and as for Peter’s resurrection... however nonsensical, Kate and Peter working together in s4 is canon. And Peter wanted Scott gone and to gain his Alpha power back (at least... I think? His motivation was so nonsensical in s4 but what else is new) so making a deal with Kate to make that happen ties together as well.
So then book 5 (here is where the stories stopped fitting & I couldn't make them either, if you have any ideas go plot): everyone but the hero thinks the big bad is still dead, the hero and the big bad are "connected", a evil teacher appears, there's a prophecy and another "ally" dies. TW season 5: doctors experiment on teenagers, Theo tries to 7/9 get Scott killed, Mason turns into a beast, Peter doesn't show up & a Nazi escapes. So yeah. I got nothing. With Peter as the big bad it could've been interesting. Nobody belives Scott that Peter is back, Peter and Scott share a pack bond, no idea about the prophecy or the teacher, Scotts dad dies?
So just a reminder/heads up that I stopped watching the show after s4. What I know from the rest of the seasons come from other Tumblr users talking and gifs I’ve seen floating around. s5 was also another split season, meaning we can either choose one arc to parallel the book or try to blend them together into a muddy mess. The main parallel I can think of would be Stiles subbing in for Harry in this one, becoming moody and emotional after a traumatic loss (Derek), damaging his relationships with his closest friends.
Beyond that... yeah, I’m getting nothing.
So onward to book 6: the hero learns how to take the bid bads plot armour, a good guy may be a bad guy afterall & the mentor dies. TW season 6A&B: the wildhunt takes everyones memories, a 8/9 Nazi-werelion (omg) eats peoples brains, an anchient god of fear turns people into stone & Deucalion dies. (This show, I swear). So how would the new season 6A&B work? What is Peters plot armour (Hocruxes)? Does Deaton die? Who is Snape in this scenario? idk but I wish I did. What that season could've been.
Again, I’m going off very minimal information from these seasons. The mentor dying could be Deucalion (though... again, I can’t really deal with the fact that everyone’s so cool with him now after what he did in 3A. At least Derek wasn’t around and didn’t have to deal with everyone being buddy-buddy with Erica and Boyd’s murderer. *sigh* Pushing aside my issues, I am...)
The weird fear creature could be Dementors, though they didn’t really play a role in book six (here, again, we have the issue of trying to parallel specific books to seasons instead of tying in general themes). For book six.. maybe the liquid Dumbledore drinks that’s protecting Gaunt’s ring? It makes him fearful, pulls up some bad memories from his past, and more or less paralyzes him, weakening him while he drinks it.
Since Peter’s not actually a villain at this point in the season, it’s hard to pull up a parallel to the Horcruxes for him.
Which leaves book 7: the hero (& friends) find & destroy plot armour, get some info about the mentors life & all ends in a big battle not everyone survives. This would be TW fictional 9/9 season 7 (or TV movie?): Scott finally defeats Peter (& Stiles& Derek finally kiss, ofc). There you have it, well partly. I hope this was a fun read for you. Sorry, if I bothered you with it.
Overall I found this analysis really interesting, but I do think we were battling through the problem of balance between making our own story using TW elements and HP themes, or just pulling in parallels from the existing content, which makes it hard to build a coherent story.

My thoughts on the end of Teen Wolf
Well there you have it. Teen Wolf is finished it’s run forever. And while I’d like to say it finished on a high note, really, I’m feeling like it finished more like a college student cramming for their finals.
I started watching Teen Wolf just before Season 2 premiered. I literally binge-watched Season 1 in the span of a couple of nights and was addicted to the characters. I saw Sterek before I even knew it was a thing. I found Season 1 and 2 to be pretty well-written. I even enjoyed Season 3 despite a lot of criticism of Jeff Davis for killing off Boyd, Erica and Allison.
My problems with the show’s writing started in season 4 and honestly, I just stayed disappointed. The one show I used to watch while it aired, became something I streamed a few episodes at a time later on. It just didn’t do it for me anymore.
A lot of people were upset by the deaths we saw in season three; Boyd, Erica and Allison were tough pills to swallow. In my opinion, Boyd’s and Allison’s deaths at least furthered the plot and offered tremendous opportunities for character growth in the surviving members of the pack. Erica’s death was pointless, disappointing, and didn’t honor her character at all, but I suppose acted as realistic motivation to fight the alpha pack. By season four, we’d lost a ton of characters; Boyd, Erica, Jackson, Cora, Allison, Issac, Ethan, Aiden and Danny were all gone (and later, Derek just dropped off the face of the earth too). And Jeff Davis was scrambling for new material. I get it, actors and actresses grow out of parts and you have to find a way to write them out. Sometimes characters need to head in a certain direction. But 9 (10) characters?! From here on out, the writing was a complete disaster in my opinion. New characters were hastily introduced, while familiar characters wouldn’t appear for several episodes at a time. Relationships were developed out of nowhere and ended for no reason- versus the slow and steady developments of seasons past. Gaping plot holes were left. And the story lines were uninspiring and poorly constructed Overall the show felt distinctively and progressively sloppy from seasons 4-6.
This is where fandom did Teen Wolf a favor. Because the fandom was so large, a lot of people were jumping on board, even when the writing had taken a steep nose dive in terms of quality. In their own way (minus maybe Liam) each new character introduced seemed forced, almost as though they were bargain brands of various archetypes. From my perspective, newer members of the fandom grew attached to some of these characters, and were therefore more forgiving when it came to poor writing and characterization compared with seasons past.
Being a fan from earlier on in the show, I couldn’t help but feel like come season four, the writers simply didn’t bother to build on relationships from previous seasons, and this got to a point where the characters on the show began to exhibit the same apathy towards their fellow characters that the writers clearly had for them as a whole. To me, the characters just didn’t seem invested anymore, and this can be seen in the various clumsily strung together hook ups and break ups, friendships and shared experiences that were not fully explored or reflected upon later in the series. One can almost start watching in season four and see the show as something entirely new and different. Let me explain each of those points.
Full disclosure, I will always ship Sterek. There was a lot of unexplored potential there, and some of the best fics I’ve read in the fandom, feature this pairing as the central relationship. I think what was so captivating about it, was there was always a sense of what could have been happening off screen, and what many fans wanted to see on screen, but I digress, Davis never wanted to make this canon, but in order to keep fans, kept stringing many of us along with just enough to keep us wondering. But as the series progressed it seemed like Davis began to deliberately under-write the relationship, and in turn used this under-writing, to make half-assed relationships in its stead.
If I squinted hard enough, Malia and Stiles made sense having the shared experience of spending time in Eichen House. I don’t buy the whole kiss and make-up thing that happened at the end of the season after their fight. And then suddenly they… weren’t a thing anymore. And there was no awkward transition from relationship to friends as there would have been any other time. And don’t even get me started on Malia and Scott.
Lydia and Parrish should have happened, and yet the clear sexual tension and innuendo suddenly dropped off and went nowhere. So what was the point in the first place? Clearly this was a direction someone in the writer’s room wanted to go, but the powers that be (I’m looking at you Jeff) ended it in order to force Lydia and Stiles together by the series end.
I’m sorry to all you Stydia shippers out there, but I will never buy them as any more than really close friends. To me, it was clear when Stiles grew out of the puppy love/infatuation stage of his relationship with Lydia. They matured together and seemed to get to a place where they loved each other as friends and had their own separate relationships. Bringing them together felt clumsy and unbelievable– especially since their other existing relationships/budding relationships just seemed to dissolve without reason.
In terms of friendships, I’ve always found the response to loss shockingly cavalier. Just one example of this was when Stiles accidentally killed Donovan. He was totally shaken by this and there is no doubt it changed his character– and yet there are very few mentions about what he did while inhabited by the Nogitsune, and his actions and friendships continue on almost as though that period in his life never occurred, versus a disproportionate amount of angst over Donovan’s death. Next, very rarely do any of the characters grieve the loss of Erica, Boyd or Allison, and nobody ever seems to mention Isaac, Jackson, Danny, Derek, the twins anyone who isn’t around much anymore, in any detail. Yet these characters were important in previous seasons.
Finally there are the shared events and experiences the characters have gone through together. When in previous seasons this was drawn on to a degree, one of the weaknesses of post-season three Teen Wolf (I’d even give it season four) is that this past isn’t drawn on seemingly at all (or in all of the wrong ways) to bolster character growth OR drive the plot. It’s like nothing in the past mattered, and that has really weakened the characters in the show, and has ultimately led to what I consider a failure on the writer’s end.
Sure, the show brought back some fan favorites at the end, but everything seemed slapped together and contrived. There was closure, and yet it felt… artificial.
The good news is, as bittersweet as the series ending forever is, I’m kind of stoked. I have a million ideas buzzing around in my head in terms of fic ideas (including a total rewrite of things post season 3) and I know I can’t be the only writer who is relieved that they no longer have to worry about screwing up canon. Anything I’m working on now, I’m finishing, and I hope there are many other creators in the same boat that will see this fandom continue to thrive long after the show.

Season 4 Sterek: Scenes & Dialogue
Purpose: To identify and catalog all the direct and indirect Sterek interactions in season 4 of Teen Wolf.
Notes:
“Stiles Talking” or “Derek Talking” indicate only one person is present in the scene while the other is talked about or referenced with an image
if not labeled that, a scene incudes Stiles and Derek directly interacting
names for each scene are how the scenes are tagged on my blog, if a scene has a “/” it’s because there are tags relating to different parts of the scene
“…” indicates a scene jump or unrelated dialogue that’s been cut out
() have been added to clarify unheard actions in a scene that affect the dialogue or to clarify the presence/awareness of Derek or Stiles throughout the scene
dialogue source is http://transcripts.foreverdreaming.org/viewforum.php?f=137, episodes were watched to clarify in some cases
Ep 1: The Dark Moon
Stiles Talking: Poor Conversationalist
Lydia: We're here for Derek Hale.
Araya: Is that so?
Lydia: We know you have him. We've heard you can be bought.
Stiles: It's 50,000 for Derek.
...
Araya: Grief and loss, mija. I wonder why, when you and your friends have suffered so much loss, you would risk it again for someone like Derek Hale.
Stiles: 'Cause we don't like to lose.
...
Stiles: Aaaa... Come on. Just give us Derek. You don't want him anyway. Haven't you noticed what a downer he is? No sense of humor, poor conversationalist. Just come on, take the money.
Araya: Severo? Show them how the Calaveras negotiate.
Stiles Talking: Derek Texts
Stiles: Ok, so how long has it been?
Scott: Weeks. He hasn't gotten back to any of my texts.
Stiles: Has Derek ever returned your texts?
Scott: Once. Definitely once. But this time it felt different. So I went to the loft. The alarm was on. Everything looked okay. But then I found these. So I sent a picture of it to Deaton. He said that it's the mark of a family of hunters based out of Mexico. The Calaveras.
Lydia: What would they want with Derek?
Stiles: You don't think they killed him, do you?
Scott: I... I don't know. That's why you're here.
...
Stiles: Lydia, what? Is he dead?
Lydia: No. But I'm not sure he's alive either.
Scott: What does that mean?
Lydia: I don't know. There's something not right. I just... I don't know.
Stiles: So if the Calaveras have him, how do we find them?
Scott: Mexico.
Stiles Talking: Kate’s Impossible
Kira: But if the Calaveras don't know where Derek is, that means they didn't take him from the loft. Right?
Stiles: Maybe he left on his own.
Scott: Maybe someone else got to him.
...
Scott: Kate.
Stiles: That's impossible. It's impossible. That can't be what he said.
Malia: Why? Who... who's Kate?
Stiles: She's a hunter. An Argent.
...
Stiles: So what now?
Scott: She thinks she knows where we can find Derek.
Malia: She gonna tell us where?
Scott: Uh, actually, she's giving us a guide.
Stiles Talking: Kate Killed His Family
Malia: Okay, I'll ask. Who's Kate Argent?
Kira: Uh, I'd like to know, too.
Stiles: Well, we were at her funeral. So, I'd like to know how she got out of a casket that was buried six feet underground.
Scott: She was never in it.
Lydia: She was Allison's aunt. And a total sociopath.
Kira: You don't have to talk about it now if you don't want to.
Malia: Um, yes, he does.
Scott: Yeah, she's right. You guys should know. You need to know.
Stiles: All right. Kate was the one who set the fire that killed most of Derek's family.
Scott: Some of them survived, like Cora, and Peter.
Lydia: A very angry Peter.
Scott: Yeah, he's the one who bit and turned me.
Lydia: And the one who finally caught up to Kate and killed her.
Stiles: And we saw her buried.
Scott: No. We saw a casket, remember? She wasn't in it. The Calaveras heard that Kate had been killed by an Alpha's claws. They wanted to make sure she was really dead. Her body was healing. More and more, as she got closer to a full moon. She was coming back. So they switched out the bodies. If a hunter is bit, they have to take their own life before they change. The Calaveras, they treat the code like law. They make it their responsibility to enforce it.
Stiles Talking: Someone Find Derek
Braeden: What happened?
Stiles: I don't know. It felt like we hit something.
Braeden: Scott, we need to get there by night. It's too dangerous otherwise.
Stiles: Go.
Scott: Not without you.
Stiles: Dude, someone needs to find Derek. We'll figure something out. We always do. Just go.
Scott: Okay
Young Derek
Malia: Is that him? Is that Derek?
Stiles: Uh, sort of.
Ep 2: 117
So Not Ok With This
Deaton: Wow.
Stiles: Wow? Wow as in, "I've seen this before and I know exactly what to do," kind of wow? 'Cause that's the kind of wow we were hoping for.
Deaton: I think you might be overestimating my abilities.
Lydia: He's cold. Really cold.
Scott: Do you think this is permanent?
Deaton: I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate. This is well beyond my experience.
Stiles: So what do we do with him?
Deaton: Until he wakes up. Probably not much. It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here.
Stiles: You mean from Kate?
Deaton: If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate.
Lydia: Why would she want do this to him?
Deaton: Knowing Kate, it's probably for a reason that won't be any good for anyone but her.
Stiles: And bad for everyone else.
Deaton: You guys should probably go home. He doesn't look to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep? It is a school night... And you all need to start taking care of your own lives again.
Scott: Someone should stay with you.
Lydia: I'll stay. My grades are fine... despite missing a few classes.
Stiles: I'm so not okay with this.
Lydia: Guys, go.
Stiles: No.
Scott: Text us if anything happens.
Stiles: Nope, still not okay with it. Not going anywhere. All right, just 'cause you're stronger...
Stiles Talking: No Memory
Deaton: I don't think he's just younger in body. I think he's younger in his mind too.
Lydia: He didn't recognize either of us. And he looked like he was scared out of his mind.
Stiles: So if you're a teenage werewolf and you're scared, where do you go?
Scott: A wolf goes back to its den. But Derek lives in a loft.
Stiles: Not when he was a teenager.
Lydia: The Hale House?
Deaton: He wouldn't remember the fire. It wouldn't have happened yet.
Lydia: Hold on. Say you do manage to catch up to him? What are you going to say to him? That his whole family is dead?
Scott: I guess I'm going to have to.
Lydia: Oh... Good luck with that.
Stiles: She's probably right. Maybe you shouldn't. You know, at least until we figure out how to get him back to normal.
Scott: I can't lie to him.
Stiles: Okay, I'll do it.
Scott: I don't think any of us can. Remember, he can hear a heartbeat rising. When we find him, we tell him the truth.
Deaton: If he gets to the house first, you won't have to.
Stiles Talking: Time Traveling
Sheriff: I'll handle this. I want you to be honest with me. Absolutely and completely honest. Have you been time traveling?
Stiles: Hang on, what?
Sheriff: Because if time traveling is real, you know what? I'm done. I'm out. You're going to be driving me to Eichen House.
Scott: We found him like that.
Sheriff: Where? Swimming in the fountain of youth?
Stiles: No. We found him buried in a tomb of wolfsbane in an Aztec temple in Mexico underneath a church in the middle of a town that was destroyed by an earthquake.
Where’s My Family
Derek: Why would I go anywhere with you?
Scott: There was an accident. You lost some memory, but we can help you get it back.
Derek: How much memory?
Scott: A lot. But you can trust us.
Derek: You're an Alpha. Okay, who are you? And who is he? Who are you?
Stiles: Oh, we're the guys keeping you out of jail.
Scott: Let us help you.
Derek: No.
Stiles: Okay, dude, you almost tore apart two cops back there. You need to listen to us. And that starts with no fangs, no claws, no wolf man. You got that?
Derek: I'm fine as long as it's not on a full moon.
Scott: You still have trouble with the full moon?
Derek: I said I'm fine.
Stiles: All right, you coming with us or not?
Derek: You want me to trust you? Where's my family?
Scott: There was a fire. And... They're not here anymore. They're fine. Just had to move out of Beacon Hills. And we're going to take you to them as soon as we figure out how to get your memories back.
Stiles Talking: Ass is Fine
Scott: I shouldn't have done that. I lied my ass off.
Stiles: Hey, your ass is fine. You saved him a ton of unnecessary pain. We'll figure this out in a day or two, he goes back to being old Derek, everyone's happy. Except for Derek, who's never happy.
Scott: It's just another person that we're lying to. I always feel like it's always been better when we tell the truth. With Lydia, my mom, your dad.
Stiles: Yeah, but that is Derek Hale in there. He may be a kid right now, but he's still Derek Hale.
Scott: All right. Take him to my house and don't let him out of your sight.
Stiles: And where are you going?
Scott: I'm going to go talk to the guy we should have gone to before.
Stiles: Uh... Yeah, I hate that guy.
My Cousin Miguel (Young Derek) / Spanish
Stiles: We're going to wait here for Scott. We're going to sit quietly. We're not going to call or talk to anyone.
Derek: Do I talk to you?
Stiles: No.
Derek: Fine.
Stiles: Good.
Derek: Who's going to talk to him?
Stiles: Ah! Are you getting taller?
Agent Mccall: What are you guys doing here?
Derek: We're waiting for Scott.
Agent Mccall: Yeah, so am I. We're supposed to have dinner. I brought extra. You guys hungry?
Derek: Yeah.
Stiles: No. We're not hungry.
Derek: No, I'm starving.
Stiles: Neither of us are hungry. Thanks, though.
Agent Mccall: Okay, well if you're not hungry, Stiles, your friend can still eat with us. What's your name?
Stiles: Miguel. My cousin Miguel. From Mexico. So...
Agent Mccall: (SPEAKING SPANISH)
Stiles: Oh my God.
Derek: (SPEAKING SPANISH)
Agent Mccall: Fantastic. Egg roll?
Derek: Hell, yeah.
...
Agent Mccall: So, uh, Miguel. What did you say your last name was again?
Stiles: Oh, it's Juarez. Cinqua... Tiago.
Agent Mccall: That's a mouthful. How do you spell that?
Stiles: Phonetically.
Derek: Mr. McCall, you're an FBI agent?
Stiles: He's low level. Very low level. He doesn't even have a voice.
Derek: So do you investigate murders?
Agent Mccall: Sometimes. When it's a federal crime.
Derek: What about fires?
Stiles: Oh my God, I wonder where Scott is. Shouldn't Scott be here by now? We should call Scott.
Agent Mccall: What kind of fires are you talking about?
Derek: Do you know anything about the Hale family?
Wall Scene Redux
Stiles: Okay, I didn't lie. I omitted certain truths. Vital truths now that I think about it.
Derek: I don't want to talk to you. I want to talk to the Alpha. I'll talk to Scott.
Stiles: Okay. I'm going to go get him. My phone's downstairs. Going to call him real quick. You stay here, just don't move, okay? Don't move. Don't... I thought you...
Stiles Talking: Out the Window
Stiles: No, he's in your bedroom, he'll be totally fine. To be honest, I'm starting to miss the old Derek. So, if you actually think that Kate's coming to find him... You might be right.
Ep 3: Muted
Stiles Talking (maybe?): Muted Board
Stiles: Okay... I promised I'd help you study. Then we can go back to that. Lots of that. Like, so much... What's with all the highlighters anyway?
Malia: Green is for the things I understand. Yellow, is for "I'm working on it," and... Red means I have no clue. I am mostly using red.
(Malia explains her highlighter system ending with red, Stiles looks at his half-dismantled crime board that has his similar colored thread system, a picture of Derek is the most visible with red thread, Stiles turns forward again and smiles for a moment, he turns to kiss Malia)
Ep 4: The Benefactor
Stiles Talking: Stealing Lines
Stiles: Liam, hey! Scott: We need to talk.
Liam: No, you need to back the hell up, okay? Both of you.
Scott: Can you just listen for one second. Please? Liam... We're brothers now.
Liam: What?
Stiles: Oh, God. That's...
Liam: What are you talking about? We just met and you bit me.
Scott: The bite... The bite is a gift.
Stiles: Scott, stop. Please stop. You, you, we're trying to help you, you little runt.
Ep 5: I.E.D.
Stiles Talking: Murder Review
Stiles: So, the Walcott's were the first. At least the first that we know about. Four murders. Sean, his brother, and their parents. They were killed by a professional assassin called The Mute. Weapon of choice, a military tomahawk. But then The Mute was killed by Peter Hale after he tried to blow up Derek with a Claymore mine. Next was Demarco. He delivered a keg to the party at Lydia's lake house. And got decapitated outside his car.
...
Stiles: And then last night, 23-year-old Carrie Hudson.
Scott: It's a dead pool. A hit list of supernatural creatures. This is only part of it. The rest still has to be decoded.
Ep 6: Orphaned
Werewolf Strength
Stiles: What the hell is happening to this kid?
Deaton: He's been poisoned by a rare wolfsbane. I need to make an incision and you need to hold him as still as possible.
Stiles: Hey, Derek, how about a little werewolf strength?
Derek: Yeah, I'm not the only one here with werewolf strength.
Deaton: If you can't hold him still, the incision might kill him.
Stiles: Derek, he's slipping. I don't think I can hold him. Ah!
Peter: I guess I still have a little werewolf strength myself.
Derek: Yeah, maybe more than a little.
Stiles: Hey, Doc, I don't think he's breathing. Is he okay?
Deaton: I think he'll be fine, but probably out for a while.
Stiles: Guys, can you hear that? I think he's saying something.
Brett: The sun... The moon... The truth... The sun... The moon... The truth...
Deaton: Three things cannot long be hidden. The sun, the moon, and the truth. It's Buddhist.
Peter: Satomi
Derek Talking: Hyperactive Spaz
Malia: Maybe we need to try something different. Maybe we need to think like Stiles.
Derek: Like a hyperactive spaz?
Malia: Like a detective. If they're really Buddhists, then maybe instead of asking where werewolves hide, we should be asking...
Derek: Where would Buddhists hide. When Buddha sat under the Bodhi tree, he looked to the east for enlightenment.
Malia: Is there some kind of eastern point in Beacon Hills? Derek: Yeah. At Lookout Point.
Stiles Talking: Deadpool Key
Stiles: Okay, well, we know one thing. Both of the first two keys, Allison and Aiden, they're both names of the dead. Right?
Lydia: But we've already tried every other dead person's name we could think of. And if you haven't noticed, there were a lot of tries.
Stiles: Yeah, I noticed. You okay?
Lydia: The only other Banshee I've ever met. And I think I might have just drove her over the edge.
Stiles: Lydia, it wasn't your fault. I was there, too. And you're probably not the only... Hold on. Banshees predict death. Right? So what if the third key is someone who isn't dead...
Lydia: But will be... Call Parrish. We need to call Parrish.
Ep 7: Weaponized
Stiles Talking: Peter’s Money
Stiles: It's half a million dollars. Scott. What are you going to do, just slide it under your mattress?
Scott: I have to talk to Derek. The money's his.
Stiles: You mean his and Peter's.
Scott: What does that mean?
Stiles: It means maybe we should proceed with caution.
Scott: You don't think we should tell Derek?
Stiles: No. No. No, of course we have to tell him. I'm just... I'm just saying, some of that money's Peter's, right?
Scott: Yeah.
Stiles: Right? Peter. Homicidal killer? Remember? You want to give $500,000 to him.
Scott: So we should give Derek his money back. But not Peter?
Stiles: I didn't say that.
Scott: Stiles, what are you saying?
Stiles Talking: Satomi’s Pack
Malia: We found Satomi's pack. Derek and I. But they're dead.
Scott: All of them?
Malia: All the ones we found.
Stiles: Then where's Derek?
Derek Talking: School Quarantine
Derek: What's that?
Melissa: Naloxone. We need to wake her up.
Derek: I thought you said she needed to rest.
Melissa: That was before I found out the CDC just put the high school under quarantine with Scott and Stiles still in there.
Melissa: Braeden, look at me. You were shot, but you're in the hospital now and you're fine. Do you understand? Good. Okay. Last night you were in the woods and you came across another pack? Do you know what happened to them?
Derek: I told you, they were poisoned.
Braeden: No. No, they were infected. It was a virus designed to kill werewolves. It did. It killed them all.
...
Derek: I have to get to the school.
Satomi: What about the others at Lookout Point?
Ep 8: Time of Death
Stiles Talking: Evidence Board
Stiles: Hey. Where have you been?
Malia: Talking to Peter.
Stiles: Okay. You think that's a good idea?
Malia: If he can help me find my mother, I don't think I care.
Stiles: You might be related to him, but you're not like him.
Malia: Maybe I am. That night I caused the car crash...
Stiles: You mean when you were out-of-control on the full moon.
Malia: There's a part I didn't tell you about. Right before we got in the car, my mother... My adoptive mother, I guess... We got into a huge fight. I don't even remember what it was about, but... I remember what I said.
Stiles: Malia.
Malia: I said, "I wish you were all dead."
Stiles: Killing doesn't run in a family.
Malia: Maybe it does in mine.
(Malia puts the deadpool sheet with Derek’s name as the key up on the murder board with red tape before leaving, Stiles stares at the board with the camera zooming towards Derek’s name on the sheet)
Ep 10: Monstrous
Derek Talking (Scott talking to Derek): Stopping Deadpool
Braeden: Scott, you heard anything from Stiles or Lydia yet?
Scott: Lydia's still talking to Meredith. Stiles and Malia are headed to the lake house. They're trying to stop it.
Brett: What if there is no stopping it? What if it doesn't end until we're all dead?
Derek: Then let's send a message. Let's make something perfectly clear to anyone with a copy of that list. It doesn't matter if they're professional assassins, hunters, or an amateur who just picked up a gun. Anyone who thinks they can hunt and kill us for money, is gonna be put on another list. Our list. They get to be a name on our dead pool.
Ep 11: A Promise to the Dead
Date Kidnap
Stiles: What the hell happened?
Derek: It was supposed to be a date.
Sheriff: They were both here?
Braeden: And they're both gone.
Ep 12: Smoke and Mirrors
We Really Bringing Him
Derek: We really bringing him?
Stiles: We really bringing him?
Peter: We're bringing everyone that we can. And considering Scott and Kira were taken the night before a full moon, we should probably get going.
Malia: What's that mean?
Peter: If Kate took Scott back to the same temple that she took Derek, how do we know she's not planning to do the same thing to him?
Liam: What, she wants to make him younger?
Derek: Or take him back to when he wasn't a werewolf.
Peter: A werewolf can't steal a true Alpha's power. But maybe a Nagual jaguar, with the power of Tezcatlipoca behind her... Maybe she can. So, if everyone is sufficiently freaked out, I say we get going.
Stiles: We can't. Not without Lydia.
...
Derek: What's she doing at the school anyway?
Malia: We got Kira's sword, but we need something with a stronger scent. Lydia went to get a jacket out of her locker.
Stiles: Nothing.
Braeden: If she has a car, she can catch up to us.
Peter: That's a good point. We'll call from the road.
Stiles: No. What if something happened? What if she's in trouble?
Peter: Fine. You stay, you find her. We're gonna go on without you.
Liam: I could call Mason. He has a study group at school. Maybe he could look for her.
Stiles: All right. Fine. I need to be back there with Derek and Liam. I've got some experience dealing with out of control teen wolves. You'll be okay riding with Peter?
Malia: He is my father.  Maybe we could do some bonding.
Stiles: No. No bonding. Play the radio, play it loud.
Peter: Remember what we're dealing with. It's not just Kate, it's Berserkers. You might see human eyes behind those skulls. Do not assume that there's any humanity left. Oh. This little one is terrified of them, aren't you? Don't worry, my friend. It is that fear that will keep you alive. A reminder to everyone. You do not fight Berserkers to survive, you fight to kill.
Mexico Van
Derek: All good? Okay. I brought something to help you. This has been with my family for centuries. It's a very powerful, supernatural talisman. We use it to teach Betas how to control themselves on a full moon.
Stiles: Yes, it's powerful. Very powerful.
...
Liam: Whatever you’re gonna teach me, I think you better start.
...
Derek: Liam, you with me? We have a mantra that we use. You repeat it, you focus on the words. It's like meditating. You say the words until you feel control coming back to you.
Liam: Okay. Okay, okay! What are the words?
Derek: Okay, look at the triskelion. See the symbol? I have a tattoo on my back, it's the same thing. Each spiral means something.
Stiles: Alpha, Beta, Omega.
Derek: It represents the idea that we can always rise to one and fall back to another. Betas can become Alphas.
Stiles: Alphas can become Betas.
Liam: Can Alphas become Omegas?
Derek: All you have to do is say the three words. And with each one, you tell yourself you're getting calmer, more in control. Go ahead.
Liam: Alpha, Beta...
Derek: Slower.
Liam: Alpha... Beta... Omega... Alpha... Beta... Omega...
Derek: Good. Say it again. Remember, every time you say the words, you're getting calmer.
Liam: Alpha, Beta... Omega.
Derek: Say it again.
Stiles: Derek, I don't think the powerful talisman of self control is working.
Derek: Liam, say it again! Liam!
Braeden: Derek?
Stiles: I think we're gonna need to go a little faster.
Derek: Keep going!  Liam! Liam...
Braeden: We're almost there.
...
Stiles: Focus!  I really don't think Alpha, Beta, Omega is resonating with him.
Derek: You know any other mantras?
Stiles: Yeah. I do. Liam, Liam. What three things cannot long be hidden? Liam! Liam, look at me. What three things cannot long be hidden?  What three things?
Liam: The sun... the moon... the truth.
Stiles: That's it. Say it again.
Liam: The sun... the moon... the truth.
Braeden: Derek?
Derek: We're okay.
Liam: The sun... the moon... the truth.
...
Liam: I can't believe I did it. For a minute there, I thought I was gonna tear the two of you apart.
Stiles: Yeah. That would've made for an awkward ride home. So, thanks.
Derek: Think you can bring the same level of control and strength inside La Iglesia?
Stiles: Alright, we might actually be able to do this.
Save Him
Peter: How bad is it?
Derek: I'm fine, I'm fine. Just get to Scott. Just find him.
Derek: We'll be right behind you. Go. Go!
Derek: Hey, hey, save him.
Goodbye for Now
(Stiles comes up to join Scott, all of Malia, Liam, Scott, and Kira end up looking at Stiles almost at the same time with no dialogue, the scene cuts to Derek nodding at Scott and leaving with no wide shot to show if anyone else is still standing there)

It’s Teen Wolf Rewatch Time
Rewatching Teen Wolf, Season 1, Episode 4. Here we go…
(this episode took forever to get through. Mostly because my brain was all over the place)
¤   Kate. I think I would have liked her better if she had remained dead at the end of the season. Not like like, but more "oh yeah, Kate, villain of season 1. I hated her, haha! Thank god she's dead."
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, Now I hate her like that annoying mosquito you can hear around your head when you're trying to sleep, just DIE ALREADY YOU STUPID BLOODSUCKER, LEAVE ME IN PEACE!
¤   Once again Stiles is asking the relevant questions, like if Derek isn't the Alpha, who is? If Derek didn't bite Scott, who did? Scott doesn't want to hear it, or even think about it, and tells Stiles to stop with the questions.
Like, dude, I know it's overwhelming, but not dealing with it will only make it worse.
¤   Getting their exams back. Looks like someone's good at school!
Tumblr media
And someone else, not so much.
Tumblr media
Probably to illustrate how much Scott's been distracted by werewolf life, and how it's affecting his regular life in a bad way. The stress of trying to ignore what's constantly in your face is taking its toll.
But then, Stiles is Scott's best friend. He doesn’t have to deal with it on his own. If it feels like too much, just ask Stiles to look into it and he will! Give him a focus and he'll commit to-. Wait, he does that anyway, doesn't he? Scott's lucky Stiles is his friend. This story would have ended very badly otherwise. He would have killed someone (Allison?) in ep 1, and then been killed himself by Mr. Argent.
I wonder what had happened to Derek? And how would Stiles and Derek have met? Would Stiles be trying to solve the case, because "things don't add up, dad!". And while out looking for clues, by himself, because his dad does not agree with him, he runs into Derek, who is also out investigating, trying to find the Alpha. *brain happily frolics away into new sterek AU territory*
¤   I have this feeling that Scott is used to getting a bit annoyed/exasperated with Stiles at the regular. He's mostly really patient with Stiles (probably way more than anyone else has ever been with him), but it only goes so far, then he snaps. Especially when Stiles keeps going and going, like his brain is in it to a 120% and won't let go, while Scott's already dropped it, yesterday, and don't want to hear it and "god, Stiles, just shut up?! Stop, please?" (quotation from my brain, not the show)
¤   My poor Derek
Tumblr media
And Jackson got a claw to his neck.
Tumblr media
I'm blanking on the significance of that.
¤   It hurts me.
Tumblr media
Scott: "Why would I help you?!"
Derek: "Because you need me."
Scott: "Fine. I'll try."
I find it so tragic that he has absolutely no one to help him, so he has to go to Scott, and although he's dying, he still has to persuade Scott to help him, with the "you need me" argument. It's all the value he (and Scott) think he's got. *sobs*
¤   So here is the first person who actually helps Derek, even though he doesn't need him.
Tumblr media
Now, Stiles has a big mouth that can say... a lot of shit. Especially when he's stressed, worried or scared. Covers it up with jokes and morbid humour. Stiles says a lot, but it is what he does that tells us way more about who he really is. Where he really stands.
Stiles sticks by Derek's side through all of it, till he's healed again. He's even ready to cut his arm of if it will save Derek's life. So I'm thinking this is why Derek goes to Stiles instead of Scott later on, when he needs to hide from the law. Stiles, whose father is the Sheriff. It doesn't make sense, unless it's because he knows that Stiles is more likely to help him than Scott. Stiles has shown him, through his actions, that he will help Derek if he can.
¤   And then there's Scott. They're on the phone.
Derek: "If you don't find it [the bullet], then I'm dead, all right?"
Scott: "I'm starting to think that wouldn't be such a bad thing."
Derek: "Then think about this. The Alpha called you out against your will. He's gonna do it again. Next time, you either kill with him or you get killed. So if you want to stay alive, then you need me. Find the bullet."
Derek is definitely getting better at knowing how to get Scott to do what he tells him to do. Reminding Scott that the Alpha can control him against his will? Now that's how you do it.
And yes, we get it. Their relationship is built on the fact that Scott needs Derek to survive. That's it, nothing else. Got it.
It has me wondering though, at this stage (season 1) in their relationship, would Scott have been willing to kill Derek, if that was what would turn him human again?  If someone, say Deaton, had told him that "there is one way. According to a myth, you can become human again, if, as sacrifice, you kill the werewolf who first interacts with you after your transformation (or some nonsense like that)".
Because I think he would. If it would "fix him"? He's never liked Derek anyway, maybe because his brain already knew, somehow, that Derek's a bad person? I can see Scott going all in to convince everyone, including himself, that Derek's a bad guy, so it would be the right thing to do. In the end it would mean one less bad guy in the world, and what's wrong with that?
Oh, but how would Stiles react to this? *brain giggling like a five year old, twirls away into, yet another, sterek extravaganza!*
¤   I call foul play! This is how it looks when Scott translates something from French to English
Tumblr media
But when I try to translate stuff NOTHING MAKES SENSE.
¤   Oh Derek. "Because I'm gonna die without it." He's said it like five times by now! Why do people still look surprised. Lol! We do get a zoom in close up of Stiles worried face, so that makes up for it.
¤   Oh, the condom scene! Do you remember? Kate accuses Scott of going through her bags, being a thief, and then Allison's all like "twas I who stole from you" and pulls out the condom she took. Love it!
Tumblr media
Wait, they changed the music? I swear I remember the song, sorta, that played because the tune/melody of it enhanced the scene? (goes off to look stuff up)
The original song: "The Wolf" by Miniature Tigers
On the DVD: "Find a Way" by Above Envy
I HATE when they do this. It's one of my pet peeves. I bought both seasons of LIFE (with Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi) mainly because I loved how they had used music gorgeously in the scenes, and the director(?) had talked about how important the music was for the show and how a lot of thought went into picking the music. Guess what. They had changed EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. I got so upset I almost (ha! I totally did) cry, and I went down to my storage unit where I threw them into a dark corner never to be seen again. So mad! Anyway. Moving swiftly along.
¤   What.
Scott: "Okay, we saved your life, which means you're gonna leave us alone. You got that?"
Let me interrupt you right there, Scott, because we just went over this. You keep him around because you need him, remember? That's why you agreed to get the bullet in the first place. Or did you mean "if we need help, fine, but if YOU need help, even if is to stop you from dying, don't turn to us". I'm feeling the love. I really do.
Scott: "And if you don't, I'm gonna go back to Allison's dad and I'm gonna tell him everything."
Pretty sure he already knows. Also, everything? Like, that you're a werewolf? A werewolf who's dating his daughter?
Derek: "You gonna trust them? You think they can help you?"
Scott: "Why not? They're a lot freaking nicer than you are!"
Scott trusts the Argents more than Derek, after that dinner? Did I miss something, or is this just more of Scott being in denial? (Goes back to watch the frickin' dinner scene again.)
¤   Scott must have the biggest dissociation with the fact that he’s a werewolf. He still hasn't accepted it, and can therefore still view werewolves as the enemy. Probably why he connects with Mr. Argent somehow, but then don't seem to realise that as soon as the Argents finds out he's a werewolf he’ll become their enemy. The disconnect people.
¤   And it just keeps happening! Conversation in front of Peter.
Scott: "Is he like you, a werewolf?"
So "like you" not "like us". And then:
Derek: "Six years ago, my sister and I were at school. Our house caught fire. Eleven people were trapped inside. He was the only survivor."
Scott: "So, what makes you so sure that they set the fire?"
Derek: "'Cause they're the only ones that knew about us."
Scott: "Then, they had a reason."
Derek: "Like what? You tell me what justifies this. "
Tumblr media
You have a lead character, who is supposed to be the good guy, the guy we root for, who's first reaction to finding out eleven people were murdered goes "the murderers must have had a reason". What?
Now if he grew out of this attitude, of always trying to fit reality into his own biased narrative (even when it makes him seem like a horrible person from outside his narrative, which is the point-of-view a lot of viewers will have, with dialogue like this in the show) then okay. But he doesn't. And from the feedback I've gotten from my rewatch, it doesn't change in later seasons either. Why give your lead character this flawed trait if you are not going to fix it by having him grow out of it? I just don't get it.
¤  Derek explaining how hunters apply their code...
Derek: "They say they'll only kill an adult and only with absolute proof. But there were people in my family that were perfectly ordinary in that fire. This is what they do."
… a couple of scenes later the Argents are discussing how they're going to hunt down the Alpha and its pack. How great would it have been if these scenes came one after the other? From Derek's emotional world filled with hurt and injustice, to the Argents cool headed and detached planning on how to kill them. It would have been pretty great, I tell you.
¤   I'm loving how overt the signs are of who set the fire.
Tumblr media
They also make it super clear that Chris follows the code, Kate doesn't.
The show's telling us stuff so we can be part of the journey, and then we can feel gratification when what we know proves itself in how the story plays out.
Engaging the audience, even the casual viewer, in this way. When did they stop doing that? From what I've seen, nonsensical clues that don't lead to much is the thing now, which means that sense of satisfaction won't be there, because things don't add up in the end.
Well that's it folks. I knew there would be a lot of sterek moments in this episode, and was looking forward to those, but the Scott-Derek stuff got my attention and dragged my mood down. Now I'm all gloomy. Blah. Let me make some screencaps of Stiles and Derek to cheer myself up.

1/7 I’m actually a fan of the idea behind Scott and Stiles’ friendship and the story Scott told. Scott and Stiles worked together well when they first started in Season 1, because they were obviously complementary. I even liked how Stiles was able to shrug off Scott’s jealousy and possessiveness and kept putting up with Scott despite Scott treating him like trash (“I just made first line! I got a date with a girl who I can’t believe wants to go out with me, and everything in my life is perfect!
2/7 Why are you trying to ruin it?!”) and ditching him for the popular crowd as soon as he could. It wasn't a perfect friendship, but it worked well enough. The problem, of course, is that through the course of the show, Stiles grew up and Scott didn't. Stiles would lock himself up and sacrifice his own life to save everyone else’s (that’s literally the theme of Teen Wolf Season 3B). Meanwhile, Scott would gladly sacrifice other people’s life to save his own and to keep his true alpha title
3/7 (Scott begging others to do his dirty work for him is literally the theme of Teen Wolf Season 6A&B.) Stiles focused on responsibility and building relationships with other people, while Scott took them for granted; it bugged me how many times Scott would treat people as friends that he could make demands of just because he said so (Stiles, Lydia, Boyd, Danny, Kira) and then abused other people’s patience (Derek, Chris, Isaac, Allison, Malia, Liam.) Scott boasted about being a true alpha and
4/7 smarted off to his enemies because he knew that his friends would have his back. Until the last, for Scott McCall, it was always someone else's fault when Scott McCall fucked up. There's nothing more annoying to me than Pissbaby Scott Getting Pissy in the club in Rave because Allison had the nerve to prioritize saving Jackson’s life over Scott’s jealous fits and temper tantrums.
5/7 There's nothing more pointless than Scott lying about Kira’s fox to control her and then playing up his shitty little chest wound that had long healed just to convince his friends not to abandon him again. Scott was so tone deaf to other people’s pain, traumas and history that it seemed like he was obsessed with minimizing what they had gone through and making it ALL about himself instead. And even that wouldn't have bothered me if they had allowed Scott’s friends to say "Quit it, Scott.
6/7 You're 18, not 8." If they had allowed Stiles to get angry with Scott without portraying it as a crime, or Derek to beat the ever living crap out of Scott for violating and dehumanizing him, or Isaac to clap back when Scott abused him in front of Melissa, or Kira and Allison to shout at Scott when he lied to them. But the production didn't. The show basically said that "Stiles is a hero and a good friend because he lets Scott use him and gaslight him to his heart’s content and doesn't leave.
7/7 The show basically said "Allison loved being yelled at and stalked around so much, she started dating Scott." The show basically said “Derek realized that Scott violated and dehumanized him for his own good, so he doesn’t have to hold it against him.” The show basically said “Isaac accepted being hit and abused by Scott because he deserved it for looking at Scott’s woman.” It didn’t have to be toxic, but it ended up being that way.
A lot of my issues come around to the writing of the show. I honestly believe that we’re a little spoiled in our fandom world. There are so many fics with so much depth. So many writers that put so much effort into making proper foils and character arcs. They wait and wait and wait, revising until they know they’ve got the fic exactly how they want it, and then they post it.
Writing a tv show doesn’t really allow for that. Sure, they write a script and it gets looked over a few times, but there’s no time to stew in it. To consider how that episode’s script and plans interact with previous episodes, to consider how it will effect future episodes and the direction they should go in. The time is crunched, there’s a couple read-throughs and then you get those actors in front of the camera and go. I get it. I hate it, but i get it. My frustration came in my expectations of the forethought that I believe would’ve gone into the show before it ever came out. BEFORE it gets a pilot or green-lit, or whatever the terminology for that is (I’m a stage actor, not a tv actor), it was my assumption, that there would be so much thought out. If I’m working on a series of fics, I have at least a basic plotline for every volume. If I’m writing a 100k fic, I make an outline and I decide on the general plot and then? Then I decide what the character development/arcs will be. Taking a writing class, you get told constantly to think about how the characters should change from beginning to end. You get told to consider turning points in the story. You need to have a concrete understanding of each character’s personality, backstory, behavior, and have a PLAN for what to do with each other them and how you intend for them to grow (be it good or bad)
So when I went to watch this show the first time, I was totally caught up in YEs werewolves! Yes full moons! Yes, fangs and claws and superstrength! YEs even the human gets to do fun stuff! But that excitement quickly faded, because the foundation I thought I was seeing, wasn’t actually there. I saw Scott attacking people and yelling at his friend for trying to help. I saw Derek threatening people and clawing Jackson. I saw Jackson and Lydia being stuck-up and that stereotypical ‘popular’ kind of pompous and cruel. I saw Stiles being vicious and impulsive. Allison showed up as this...perfect person? I saw it and I thought that was the point. That they would all learn and grown and depend on each other and that this show about werewolves that spent so much of Season 1 talking about ‘pack’ would turn these people into a pack. That they would call each other out for their various issues and everyone would grow. That Allison would seem like this beacon of goodness, until she revealed a deep character flaw that she would have to work on like everyone else. And then we got to the second season, and it all just went sideways. Derek just got meaner and Erica and Isaac both joined while being just as mean. Boyd seemed like a decent dude, that voice of reason. And then he was barely there. Stiles kept hitting on Lydia and wouldn’t stop. Scott was awful to Allison. It all got worse and they were suddenly split into Sides. Derek and the other Hales that popped up were never actually a part of Scott’s pack/group. They were always on the outside, even after Derek just sort of...gave in and said Scott was in charge now? It was frustrating and confusing, watching bits of their personalities flip-flop all over the place to suit a plot that felt like it was just trying to cater to the audience, without having any actual backbone of plot. If you write something JUST for other people, it’ll never have integrity. The growth of these characters was constantly either completely skipped (characters going from bad to good in an instant), cut off at its ankles (killed off or sent away), nonsensical (Derek had to lose all his powers to become a full-shift wolf, and that somehow had an effect on his personality??), or it never happened (Scott. And, to some extent? Stiles.)
I find that I have the most fun in this fandom when I take canon and use it as a sort of malleable clay to play with and make my own worlds out of. I get to keep my favorite characters around (Boyd, Erica, and Isaac, and even Jackson sometimes), get rid of characters I don’t like (Ethan and Aiden, usually Jennifer and Gerard, and sometimes Scott), and toss what I’ve got into an au or a canon-divergence and see what they do. I mean, that’s basically what all fandom is, but for this one, it’s a bit like SPN. I refuse to acknowledge anything that happened in SPN after like...season 6 or something. I haven’t even seen past s8 (just like in TW i haven’t seen past S4) and it doesn’t matter. i mold the tv show to make whatever I want.
Canon gave me some good ideas, but I don’t like to stick to it too strictly in my own creative works.
I’m sorry that canon let you down, but fanfic will always be here for you.

okay, it’s far enough into the fandom to have this conversation people. listen, Teen Wolf peeps... i notice that a lot of people really, really dislike Scott, esp. in Seasons 1 & 2. And I get that, he ticked me the fuck off with all his stupidity there... but then, i realised WHY he annoyed me so much. it’s because of how old he was. like, we’re looking at a very attractive, twenty-something grown man playing a teenager, and your brain goes, “Why did he do that, he should know better?” but the thing is, Scott himself is like 14/15... (and if he was played by someone around that age, we’d have been more understanding). teenagers do dumbass shit, they would make the calls scott and stiles and allison made, we all know overdramatic teens who are ‘SO IN LOVE’ and are just disgusting with their handholding and smooching and etc. the way they showed scott/allison but because we are looking at flawless adults playing kids, some part of your brain goes, ‘why the FUCK did ____ do that?’ (like how shows use adults-playing-teenagers in student/teacher relationships in shows like Home & Away and no one feels its wrong bc they’re clearly both adults... whereas if it was a teen playing a teen everyone would flip their shit like they should) also, let me be clear that Derek did fuck up quite a bit in most seasons... like, a lot, but when you realise he’s only 20-something, he’s lost most of everything and just walked into a clusterfuck disaster involving his crazy uncle... it’s like, he’s not Adult! enough to handle this. i wouldn’t be. well, i wouldn’t have gone about it the same way, but would i manage to bungle things that much? probably. also, he was quite physically abusive (so were the argents tbh) against the teens which the fandom keeps twisting about as ‘sexy’ or ‘protective’ etc. can you stop that it’s been long enough if i slam you against a wall and tell you i’ll kill you, it’s not a hot thing. if you pulled that with me, i would make a marionette of your corpse... but find it sexy? a sign you love me/i love you? what? also, why adult/child... we all know the most popular ship, and how fucking weird the straight fangirls get about it. the AMOUNT of rape-turned-soulmate and abduction/stockholm syndrome love fanfics in this fandom alone... like, wow teenagers are still kids, no matter how ‘mature’ you wanna write them. which was why the whole Lydia/Parrish thing they tried to introduce raised a lot of red flags as well. like, he’s an officer of the law and knows, intrinsically, that she’s a minor and it’s weird anyway... bruh i have other complaints... Kira deserved more. she was kind of ‘use my backstory, then dispose of my character even though i could have been a powerful ally in the upcoming fight’. we need to know more about her... the fuck did Deaton go, too??? he’s pivotal to the show, and he went AWOL? for seasons??? malia requires more backstory, bc she went from age 9 to high school and we know she’s smart but struggling. Danny needs to come back, how did he find out, is he secretly something, c’mon you fuckers tell us like, character development kind of hit pause at some point and now we’re drowning in new characters... but what do we even know about them, really? how is the sheriff hiding all these deaths and things in reports “Yeah, big fuckin’ lizard fucked up the hospital, so jot that down” and so many other random things...

Some real talk about Sciles/Stydia/Sterek and the shitshow that is Teen Wolf
Thoughts on Teen Wolf (Scott/Stiles brotp/Stydia/Sterek) after reading a lot of vitriolic and just plain sad TW posts, from ALL ship bases and fans:
For one, I never hated Scott nor wished he’d die or anything, even though I don’t particularly “like” him. That’s because of how’s he’s been written. My issue with him is NOT that he’s imperfect (because he is), in fact, that’s one of the things I LOVE about Scott. He can (and always has been able to) be an utter asshole, and that makes him normal. No one is all good or all bad. Unfortunately, showrunners typically think that way. And partially because of that (I believe), Scott is written as this happy go lucky, gullible, perky puppy dog who loves everyone and has a messiah complex. But that’s not true. He is not the best friend in the whole wide world, although that doesn’t necessarily make him a “bad” friend. He can be both a bad and good friend because he can be both a bad person and a good person. He is not infallible or perfect, as we would be led to believe. Watching all of the seasons over again really cleared my head on this and reminded me why I had begun to build up some animosity toward the character, which surprised me. I began to get really fed up with him and liked it when Stiles and he butted heads because I thought Scott was acting like a total idiot and, yes, a shitty friend. The answer was simply that he’d always had the capacity to be that way, even back in season 1. He was the stereotypical dorky teenage boy who got lucky with a pretty girl and began to think he was hot shit, certainly better than his friend because he was succeeding at having what he called a “normal life.” He didn’t really “need” Stiles at that point, and he just used Derek over and over. It happens to the best of us. To be fair, Stiles was written to type as well as the dorky best friend who’s pining over the girl he can’t have. The difference for me is that Stiles has had Scott’s back more often then visa versa.
So for me, my agitation with Scott stems partially from the writers inability to allow Scott to own up and make some real changes. Think about this, in the final 6a scene, it’s Stiles who’s directing the “I need you” “I miss you” conversation. Scott doesn’t have a lot of self-reflection or heartfelt epiphanies as much as you think he would. His mostly deal with his status as an alpha and the responsibilities that that entails.
Another part of it, again not really the character’s fault, is how his status as a POC is used. I think it’s great that he’s a POC, but I also feel that the showrunners use that as a cop out. It almost lets them feel entitled to shit on other POC characters because they can still point to Scott and say “Look, our main character’s a POC, we’re so modern.” Honestly, Scott could totally be white and it wouldn’t affect his story, that’s how little a role his heritage plays, so the fact that he’s a POC to me just seems like Jeff Davis and company patting themselves on the back for being inclusive. I mean, let’s be honest, his acting ability in season 1 was embarrassing, so I’m a little cynical as to why they chose him. The shitty way they’ve written his character just rubs salt into the wound.
On Stydia:
First, to be fair, I’ll throw it out there that I’m not a Stydia shipper, but that’s not because I don’t like them together or because I ship Stalia or because I thought something crazy like he was secretly with Derek in canon (although I do ship Sterek). I’ll touch on Malia, but I honestly ship Scalia, so there.
I love them in a close friendship (kind of like the one he was establishing with Derek before it all went to hell). I thought it would be SO MUCH more meaningful and have much more of an impact if they remained friends. Why? Because it would have been playing AGAINST TYPE, something TW showrunners can’t seem to grasp. So Stiles was the stereotypical dorky best friend who pined and borderline stalked the hot girl and eventually “won” her affections. Is it a cute love story? Sure. Does it make me want to stab my eyeballs out with how cliché it is? Absofuckinglutely. Do I think it reduces both of their characters to the single purpose of satisfying an artificial and set in stone “ship”? YES. I say artificial because they’re fulfilling the roles that have been laid out for them since EPISODE 1. What is exciting, cute, sweet, or even remotely celebratory about that? And so all close male/female friendships have to end in them dating? Come on people, we’ve been fed trope after trope after trope, starting with the teenagers falling in love at first sight aka Scallison. Not hating on Scallison by any means, just how they got pushed together like wham bam thank you ma'am; although, yes, teenagers do fall in love easily so I can at least understand it even if I don’t like it. Allison falling in love with Isaac and him learning to trust her, someone who had tried to kill him, after everything he went through? Now that was something special. It was sad that it never had the chance to go anywhere.
I’ll never get over how they really just slammed Stydia in everyone’s faces with 6a. What was it really about other than to force Lydia into accepting her feelings? …Nothing. Literally nothing happened that changed anything from premiere to finale. Except for Mama McCall and Papa Argent getting their smooch on. Which I’m down for. I didn’t buy into her and the Sheriff, partially because it would have been so obvious and I think a little too campy and saccharine. So 6a just accomplished the “full circle” plotline of Stydia, in all its romantically forced and melodramatic glory. Again, I like them together, and I think her devestation felt real and it was sweet. But they really just slammed the romance aspect together like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. With STALE peanut butter and jelly. As in Lydia didn’t really give an inkling of romantic feelings beyond a few shared glances throughout the seasons and both she and Stiles were busy with other people. A Stiles and Erica relationship was baited right before the actress left, and then we were baited with Cora, who Stiles seemed interested in, and then of course we had the underage Stalia sex in the basement of a mental institution AKA one of the few black marks on an otherwise good season. And then he drops her and what, we’re supposed to pretend like they weren’t a thing for 2 whole seasons? O.K. Once again, we have another character introduced to serve very few purposes with no real plot herself, and that’s mostly to be a girlfriend to Stiles and Peter’s reason for self-improvement. What other purpose has she served? But yeah, we’re supposed to forget her because Stydia is a thing that must happen and it’s the last season. Jeff Davis pretty much said about a lot of season 6 plot lines and decisions, “It’s the last season, so we thought ‘Why not? Let’s do it.’” That is so unbelievably shitty and unfair to characters and their actors. Like, have some self-respect. THAT is why a lot of fans think Stydia is fanservice. Because of the showrunners attitude that they’ll just throw it all against the wall, give “everyone” the happy ending they always wanted because Teen Wolf is ending. Davis said he always wrote every season as if it was the last before they knew it would end with 6. HELLO. Stiles and Lydia don’t get together until 6a. That means if the show had been cancelled like Davis suspected it might, Stydia wouldn’t have been endgame after all.
As for Sterek, it’s my otp but not because I think they were romantic on the show. They weren’t that we know of. I just like them as a pairing, always have, and always will. Some of you spout that’s it’s gross because of the age difference, so obviously that means you’re not OK with all of the baiting they did with Lydia and Parrish? And you have a problem watching underage characters having sex on screen and constantly seeing minors being sexualized? Right? You have to if you think Sterek fans are disgusting. So I don’t put too much thought into the like 6 or 7 year age difference because when Stiles is 18 Derek would only be maybe 25. Hell, I’m 23 and I can tell you a few years means shit, especially this particular period of your life. Derek is still pretty much a kid. Not that I’m going to get into the age difference debate and the sexualization of Sterek. I don’t write, nor do I read fanfiction featuring a sexual canon Sterek relationship; if I do at all, it’s in AUs.
I do think there was more Sterek content in 3b and 4, despite them being apart, but what troubles me is how they pretty much did it on purpose to upset Sterek fans. Dylan and Tyler loved working together, they said as much, and they commented on not having as many scenes together. Meanwhile you have certain people making derogatory public comments and putting the ship and it’s fans down. Of course the fan base is going to be hurt by that, why wouldn’t they if they feel like they’ve been disrespected by the very people their viewership supports? And then they watch their two beloved characters have less and less screen time together and it feels very deliberate. Obviously Jeff Davis and company felt the need to send a message that Sterek was not going to happen, which is fine, but they did so at the expense of a very funny and interesting relationship–something that has hurt the show, no matter how much you dislike or disagree with Sterek as a “ship.” Stiles and Derek could have been real friends, something they were working toward; anyone remember Stiles being the one to show up in Derek’s semi-lucid dream state when Kate shot him? Some point out that could mean Stiles is an anchor-like figure for Derek, or that at the least he is someone Derek feels comfortable around to imagine him there at a time when he is hurt and needing reassurance and advice. And that emphasis on Stiles when Derek left in 4 and the touchy subject of his absence in 5a? Yeah, Stiles had begun to like Derek, and the show did a fair amount of queer baiting–not just for Sterek but a lot of other pairings. But that relationship was severed mostly because A. the showrunners were determined to make any ship other than Sterek exist B. they separated them a lot from seasons 1 and 2 to reduce the Sterek support and C. Tyler eventually decided to leave for his own personal reasons (the show wasn’t kind to his character for sure). After that we saw the slow decline of Stalia and the continued crawl of Stydia scenes, meanwhile having the brand new ship of Larrish being dropped on us out of the freaking blue.
The showrunners didn’t really want to commit to going all in with Stydia before the absolute last season. That’s gotta mean something to Stydia shippers. I don’t understand how you guys can gloss over that and ignore how it affects the integrity of the characters. Would I rather see Stydia than Stalia? Yes and no, but only because I acknowledge that Stalia was a crack pairing to begin with and it made no sense storyline wise. Stydia still feels rushed in 6a after a slow burn that could have just meant a strong friendship. And now we have these revelations such as Lydia admitting that everything changed when she first kissed Stiles. O.K. then, now why don’t we get an explanation as to why that’s just now a thing for her when the kiss took place back in freaking 3a, in a scene that was unrealistic to begin with? I understand the excitement of seeing your otp come true, but the lack of romance until the crazy plot of 6a harms the integrity of everything.
They should have made Stydia a thing before 6a instead of saying “What the hell, why not?” Believe it or not, Sterek shippers might actually be pissed if they’d done that to Stiles and Derek. Can you imagine? Having Derek come swooping in at the last season and have Stiles suddenly realize his romantic feelings for him? The fan base would be in an UPROAR for the lack of development and rightly so. Is Stydia more believable? Of course. Has Derek been absent since 5? Obviously. So they had no chance to develop any relationship at all, friendship or otherwise. Stydia makes more sense because they’ve had more time to become friends and have been pushed together, in part as a response to Sterek as an insistence that Stiles and Lydia would always be important to each other and would definitely get together. Meanwhile, characters like Malia are getting used like a rag doll, taking up space as Stiles girlfriend when it’s convenient, and tossed back aside to make way for Lydia once Davis and company feel good and damned ready to make Stydia a thing.
At the end of the day, the biggest reason I don’t want Stydia to be a thing is because their relationship matters more when they’re not doing the thing you expect. It’s much more mature for Stiles to say, “You know what? I always had this childish notion that we’d be together because it was fate, but I realize now that we’re too good of friends for this to be the right decision. I value your friendship more than the desire to fulfill my immature ambition of winning you.” The romantic subplot that never came to fruition between Rachel Green and Joey from Friends come to mind. They realized it didn’t feel right because they were too close, their friendship too strong. They made an adult decision not to pursue it further.
But no. We don’t get that kind of growth. We get the same old regurgitated same old, and that’s why I won’t really miss TW when it’s gone because let’s face it, the real show’s been gone for a while now.
Jeff Davis and company kind of gave up a long time ago for various reasons, but unfortunately by then the oldest fans, making up the loyal fan base, were hooked and still came back for more torture. The fact that we’re less than a month out, have only just been told that, and still don’t have a trailer, makes me livid in ways I can’t describe. MTV/TW showrunners have really shown their disdain for their own characters and their fans for the sake of going out with a bang, and it’s utterly disgusting.
Rant over.
