Thinking about that post about the show murderbot characters not being as 'developed' (as in, are still in the beginnings/middles of character arcs) as their book counterparts, and I think a big plus of it is it lets Murderbot be in the same category as them.

The most obvious example is it and Mensah - both of them struggling with anxiety and fighting through it because there are people counting on them. But the one I'm really thinking about is Murderbot and Ratthi.

Ratthi didn't get weapons training like he was supposed to because he 'slept through it' which was because he was hungover (would love to know if Mensah already knew that before he accidentally announced it over the comms). His very feeble, obviously shame-filled excuse is that he didn't think he'd need it. Just like Murderbot didn't think it'd need the hopper repair manual.

These are dumb, youthful things to do. Go out and party and be too hungover to make it to class the next day. Watch your favorite TV show instead of copying down your homework. These things happen and 95% of the time it's no big deal.

And then one time it is. It's a big deal and now they can't help when they really want to be able to help. And Murderbot and Ratthi react to their mistakes the exact same way - by giving themselves a lecture on what big fucking idiots they are. Ratthi then does something dumb and dangerous to try and make up for it and Murderbot has Mensah crack open its spine. It's a very fun parallel between them and I think it's going to add some really nice depth to their friendship as things go along. You fuck up. You do dumb shit to get the short-term gratification.

And people love you anyway.

I think it's actually soooooo funny that they killed off Xavier for a hot second just so he could come back as a paranoid believer. like I'm sorry but to attone for your cheating crimes we put you in a coma, gave you the death penalty, brought your ass back, and now you keep feeling ghosts but you can't see them yet and everything just feels weird and funky. also the girl you cheated on is kind of maybe sort of dead and you might be part of the cause of that. so like, good luck man, have fun.

isagi loves so carefully. he loves with so much intention. puts so much care and thought into your relationship it's a little insane. you're his first romantic partner like, ever, so he's incredibly conscious of what you guys do. he's also a chronic overthinker and sometimes gets a bit too into his head. very eager to please but sometimes gets a little lost on how to do that. he adapts easily tho! he learns you, really learns you, because love for isagi is the act of knowing and still choosing your person, even with all the difficult bits. he grew up in a household where love was freely given, not something he had to earn or barter for, and he views his parents as the ideal relationship. he's seen them work through rough patches together as a team and the way his father worked tirelessly to make his mom's heart flutter the same way it did back when they were still in highschool (he knows this because it's his mom's favorite story to tell). with parents like that, it's no shock that he's a romantic at heart, you know, and he really wants to treat you the way you deserve. and yeah, he knows it's a bit too early for anything concrete just yet and he's trying to be careful with his own heart as well, but he really wants to do right by you and make you as happy as you make him. you're both still young and not even isagi can tell where your relationship will be in the future because, well, time can bring about all sorts of changes. but isagi's a stubborn guy. and right now, he really really likes you, so he'll do his best to make you like him enough to stick around too

We are interrupting our regularly scheduled program to bring you a snippet of a potential ZoSan undercover as a married couple fic:

(Timeline wise shoehorned in sometime shortly after the timeskip, before the Strawhats make it back into the news big time.)

(People need saving from a exclusive circle of nobility, but most of the Stawhats have already been seen around the island, so the lot ends up on Zoro and Sanji to try get in posing as a freshly married couple on their honeymoon to try get more information.)

[after coming up with the plan and Zoro and Sanji hesitantly agreeing]

Robin: "You seem a little stressed, Cook-san."

Sanji, chain-smoking his third cigarette: "I'm fine, I'll do this… I just… I don't like lying about something as significant as marriage, alright? I know it's stupid, but that's just how I am."

Luffy, perking up from where one might have thought he wasn't paying attention at all: "Oi, Sanji, promise to protect Zoro?"

Sanji, puffing out smoke: "Obviously, the Marimo would get lost within all of two seconds without me having his back."

Luffy: "Good! Now, Zoro--!"

Zoro, already rising to the bait: "Oi, if anyone is protecting anyone, I'll be guarding your lanky ass, shit cook!"

Luffy, laughing: "Alright, then as the captain of this ship I hereby pronounce you married!"

Zoro:

Sanji:

Robin: "Oh my, congratulations!"

Brook: bursts into song

Luffy, grinning at Sanji: "See, now it's not a lie anymore, so you don't have to feel bad about calling Zoro your husband."

Zoro: "LUFFY!!! YOU CAN'T JUST--"

Sanji: wordlessly walks off to get ready for the mission

Usopp: "Wait, wait!" runs after Sanji, grabbing his wrist

A rather intriguing characteristic of psi battle is how it takes places in a mildly different timeline.

Although it happens after the cat tank arc, there's one key difference - Kuusuke did not make the device that removes Kusuo's powers.

This change is the driving force behind the plot, as in: pretty much everything happens because Kuusuke tried to find some other way to help Kusuo (which then backfired).

(That other way being creating fake worlds based on people's delusions.)

Modifying the plot like that also allows for some good moments, like Kusuo having to decide between accepting such reality and few characters' reaction to that.

the thing about julian's crush on jadzia is i love him being a bit pathetic about her in concept but i do not buy that he'd be obsessed with her for like actual years. he is a romantic at heart but i think he'd know when to give up. if someone doesn't stroke his ego within at least a month of him pursuing them it's over
