#i finished binging the she-ra show#and it was fine? this is what people are so angry about?#i think catra's redemption was well setup and made sense#and while i still like the catra adora romance i wish there was like... more of it#here are some gripes i have tho#1) glimmer's decision at the end of s4 feels like it has no consequences#like for starters i'm annoyed that the issue ended being incredibly black or white and it zapped out the nuance of the respective decisions#but she's like alright i was completely wrong and after bow forgives her it's like... ok surely more people would have Opinions about this?#but no they don't. missed opportunity#but the problem in shows like these (idk if it's different outside western animation) is that there's no budget to deal with--#--cities and kingdoms having people. which makes them feel like shells that have little substance beyond being a narrative device#and yes everything in a show/piece of media IS a narrative device but you know. you gotta hide that. that's the beauty of media#but like... there's a universe where glimmer's subjects saw the consequences of her actions and rose against her. that woulda been fun!#2) adora's conflict in the finale of ohhh i have to Fulfill my Destiny(TM) comes so out of nowhere. esp when she had been against the--#--whole destiny angle for the previous four seasons. suddenly she's burdened with it and it's clear that it's a way to isolate adora#but it's SO sloppily done and there's no buildup to it#and 3) woulda like if they did more with the first ones. there's a lot of potential there and maybe a more natural way of isolate adora#like have her have this crisis of 'there's no one here who can fully understand me' and i thought that was what they'd do with the--#--cat creature they introduce in S5? but just ends up being catra's magic animal sidekick#idk there was a lot there to investigate. bow's dad could've been a good resource to make that happen too#uhhh that's it mostly?#at the end of the day this kind of western animated shows feel so pandering to kids. very formulaic and simple#tho i do respect that the show followed through the worst outcome in almost every occasion#(that's why catra compells me.... talk about a character who makes the worst decision at every point. she's just like me fr fr)#but yeah it was cute#i also like how bisexual the show felt at all times (except the ending where they were like ok monogamy is the goal but eh)#cute show. fun characters. easy 7/10#catradora good#not great but eh#no show can give me compelling couples to obsess over (except for skam espaĂąa i guess)

so I finally sat down and watched this movie. Overall enjoyed this movie, but I have my issues with it. I don't think the ending is sad [speaking as queer chinese diaspora but not mlm/gay]. I understand why this trailer was cut like this (romcom) but this isn't a romcom, it's much more dramatic/serious and touches on diaspora and racial topics that I find good discussion starters and mostly still relevant.
Things I liked, and my many nitpicks. spoilers ahead
Director/screenwriter Yueng really got the internalized racism down on Ryan. Taking "you're not really Chinese" as a compliment -- oof, that stings but a lot of us diaspora/ABCs know this is unfortunately common. I used to respond to "where are you from?" with "Oklahoma" or "Texas", well I still sometimes do depending on who's asking and their tone. Like Ryan's internalized racial hatred/conundrum even comes out in his behavior of only sleeping with white dudes. In direct contrast, I love how much pride that Ning has in himself being Chinese, even goes for the throat with "what do you know about June 4th?" (mildly disappointed that wasn't elaborated for the western audience, but then again there's not time to properly detail in this kind of movie). I love the casting for Ryan's parents, and the writing and acting, they're my favorite đđđ. I also appreciate that the film doesn't go out of the way to explain butterfly lovers or Chinese opera, iykyk.
I have a bunch of nitpicks though about minor details though. There were a lot of things off about how Chinese culture is presented imo. For example, the first meet scene at the restaurant. Nobody would be that openly rude to Ryan, like calling him a banana to his face, at best they'd say "ah, you're not familiar with our culture. This is our way." and like show him how to eat crab. Also R/L liquid consonants are distinct in most Chinese languages, particularly with the Mandarin dialect spoken by Ning's cohorts, so I'm very 𤨠about that decision for Ning to originally pronounce Ryan's name as Lyan. I'm not saying it doesn't happen with Chinese speakers but R/L is more common with native Japanese speakers, so this speaks to me as a gross stereotypical "all oriental Asians speak like this" generalization from the writing/editing department. ⌠and preference for sake?? girl what. are you telling me that an actor in a nationalistic movie about Nanjing of all places A. would even give [Japanese] sake the time of day and B. wouldn't be a baijiu king!!!!! I also have SERIOUS questions for who did the makeup+wardrobe for Ning's girlfriend. LMFAO for a movie about a "fashion stylist" they didn't take care to research what the street and gala fashion looks like in China. It's 2014, 2015, Hanfu movement has been in full swing, not even Angelababy beats her face like that. Also I think Ning was more southern China styled, ugh Beijing? Nah. Dude was more like from Shenzhen or at the very least Shanghai for the other Chinese city that white people would know.
Ending: I think Ryan's a bit of a bastard. His little press release comment was full of double-edged shade ("happy and confident with himself to be so accepting"). Soooo shady. No he didn't out Ning but his compliments were also calling Ning a hypocrite and a coward. But people and characters aren't nor should they be perfect.
I actually don't care about the two leads getting together in the end. However I would have preferred Ryan ending up actually visiting China for himself, and maybe even seeing a potential career there, because Ning is right, the economy and market are only growing over there, compared to stiff competition for fewer and often racist-colored opportunities in the west. Like... also seeing the gay scene in China for himself, because frankly, it exists, and Ryan should go check it out himself, we got a whole culture and history and it (the history at least, modern culture has some exchange) has nothing to do with westerner's version of gay or queerness. Ryan could totally find a Chinese boyfriend who's not closeted, and whose job isn't so high-publicity.
But at least it seems Ryan is more open to interacting with Asians/Asian community than in the beginning of the movie.
I do still think, with the type of nitpicks I had... idk. You see where I'm coming from though? One of the biggest themes of this film was "dismantling internalized racism" and "accepting who you are", but the movie committed stereotypes about China/Chinese that are incorrect to my experience and understanding, a faux pas on "knowing how you are".
Front Cover (2015) Official Trailer -Â FRONT COVER is about handsome, openly gay New York City fashion stylist Ryan, who rejects his traditional Asian upbringing. Ryan is given an assignment to style Ning, a famous Chinese actor, for an important photo shoot. After a rocky start, an unlikely friendship develops between them, leading Ryan to examine his identity and consider an enticing new path for his life and career.
#sino diaspora#diaspora media#internalized racism#i'm Not about to go on a rant about butterfly lovers nope#way too much to unpack there. and imo not for anglophones#the fujoshis need to back the fuck off on this one tho. wtf are some of these comments. jfc stop objectifying and infantilizing asian men#i didn't find this movie ''cute''. not saying you can't be in it for that but i'm really over western fujos ogling over kinnporsche etc ok?#like the topic of internalized racism of someone who's had to live in colonizer territory vs someone who doesn't and the different types#of pride they have in themselves is what i enjoyed from the movie. go find your fluffy tokenized 'racial representation' romcom elsewhere#chen yells at clouds. more at 10#also it's been almost 10 years since this movie came out. America hasn't changed much but China has changed a lot.#in my mind i also wished this movie wasn't twink x twink :|#thinking about it again. some details were off but plot/theme is more mature & on point for cross-section of lgbt&sinodiaspora than eeaao#<- i'm still standing by my crit of eeaao's central plot+themes being generic enough to swap it for a different culture w/ old homophobia

posting here because this just doesnât feel right to talk about in the horseimagebarn voice but this is extremely important to talk about.
my partner and i have returned to our hometown to stay with her family and my own has gotten a hotel here too (they moved to the town we currently live in after we did) so we are all safe and out of the thick of it
however there are tens of thousands of people who are not both in my own town and in the many surrounding it. appalachia will take an extremely long time to recover from this and there are more storms on the way. all i see on social media right now is people asking for shelter because their homes have been destroyed, or people asking for help searching for family members who are missing. hundreds of trees have fallen. hundreds of homes have flooded. roads are literally falling apart. preexisting sinkholes due to shitty pipes are opening up and consuming land. dams are on the verge of bursting and the only way to stop it is to release water so quickly it floods whole towns. all but one of our cell towers are down, so only people with at&t have service and the rest canât contact anyone. over half the town still doesnât have power. a major water supply issue occurred and the entire town is on a water boil order with no electricity to boil with. people are trapped in their homes and workplaces or out on the street because they have nowhere to go. law enforcement is blocking off roads but trapping people in the process. people have to be rescued by helicopter. our animal shelter has no water or power and boarding facilities have been flooded. entire villages like chimney rock nc are gone, and entire cities like asheville are cut off from the rest of the state and are completely inaccessible. ALL OF THE ROADS IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA ARE CLOSED. 400+ roads are closed because they are unsafe . that is INSANE!!!
when people say that climate change isnât real, they donât know what theyâre talking about. climate change and its father capitalism are only going to continue to worsen lives in every way possible. i live in the mountains and our infrastructure is completely unprepared to handle hurricanes and itâs only going to get worse. itâs such a strange and eye-opening experience to live something like this when you think that it could never happen to you because that type of weather shouldnât reach you in your environment. climate change doesnât care where you live. itâs real.
western north carolina and the rest of the southeast that has been hit by helene need help. more people need to be talking about this so that the government DOES SOMETHING because the government historically fucking hates appalachia and it still does!!! the major state institution near me took DAYS to respond despite being the only place in town with power and wifi connection because they had to wait for the state to approve their responseâthey could have allowed thousands of people to evacuate days prior to the hurricane hitting us but they didnât do anything before or after until it was too late!!! itâs bullshit!!! PLEASE get talking about this because something has to be done. climate change is going to continue happening and our mountains and the people in them are going to suffer immensely. hundreds if not thousands are now homeless. please talk about this look at the footage online of the wreckage and look how quickly our infrastructure crumbled. we need better. the people of appalachia deserve better.
iâll get back to posting horses soon. but for now this is a lot. my friends are homeless and my family had to get off the mountain or be trapped there without power and water for days. weâre all safe but exhausted. i hope everyone who has been affected by this is staying safe. if you are in western nc, dm me. when i come back, if youâre in my area, im happy to bring supplies. stay safe everyone

I wanted to make this post because we donât see a lot of asexual characters in western media and despite him being from a hugely popular show (Seaside Hotel) youâre unlikely to know of his existence if youâre not from Denmark.
His name is Hjalmar Aurland and heâs one of the more sympathetic and realistic asexual characters Iâve seen. He lives in a time and place where asexuality as a concept doesnât exist yet so heâs never labeled as such but rewatching the show made me realize that he acts exactly like the asexual people I personally know. Asexuality can mean a lot of things but his specific brand isnât naive to sex nor is he repulsed by sex, sexual desire or thoughts simply doesnât come naturally to him.
He can be convinced to have sex with his wife Helene but only if she appeals to their emotional bond. Just so you donât get the wrong idea, heâs not being forced or emotionally blackmailed to sleep with her. Itâs simply that he understands sex is a way to show emotional love too and he wants to express that love for Helene when itâs important to her, and seeing as sex isnât unpleasant to him, just kinda boring, heâs willing to do that for her.
Unfortunately that isnât enough for Helene and despite her love for Hjalmar she starts an affair with the dramatic and emotional actor Edward Weyse. He has a string of relationships, marriages and divorces behind him because despite what it may look like from the outside Edward doesnât really want shallow sexual relationships. He just canât help himself and keep falling in love with women left and right, fully and wholeheartedly, only to be dumped or dump them once the initial excitement has passed.
So Helene and Edwardâs affair that was only meant to satisfy their carnal desires quickly becomes romantic. Helene feels torn between him and Hjalmar who she still loves and Edward understands the difficult situation theyâre both in while also feeling jealous of Hjalmar. And Hjalmar? He doesnât catch on for years. Heâs not stupid but his brain just doesnât jump to sex. He just assumes theyâre good friends and why shouldnât his wife be allowed to have friends, even male ones? Things get really complicated when Helene gets pregnant and she has to have sex with Hjalmar so he wonât wonder how it happened. Edward even has to join in on the seduction, reminding Hjalmar how much Helene loves him, even though it breaks Edwardâs heart to do so.
But like Iâve said Hjalmar isnât stupid. He saw the signs but chose to ignore them until one night when Helene accidentally says Edwardâs name. It breaks the dam in Hjalmarâs denial and he has to face that deep down he always knew. Overcome by sadness and betrayal he wanders off into the night in nothing but his nightgown and gets a room at a different hotel where he can think in peace. Eventually he agrees to return to the first hotel with Helene and Edward and decides to take control of the situation.
He sits them both down and tells them that he understands that the three of them share a bond and that there are things he canât really do for Helene so from now on he wants their relationship to be open and honest. He wants Helene and Edward to keep seeing each other and Edward is welcome in their house, but Hjalmar wants to be allowed to call Edward by his first name and makes it very clear that Helene and Edwardâs children âbelong to himâ because he still thinks of himself as their dad and loves them as his own children. Both Helene and Edward agrees to it, though the emotional Edward is very flustered and confused by the acceptance and love heâs being shown by Hjalmar.
This is obviously a very tv drama situation but I was so stuck by how much Hjalmar acts like my asexual friends. Having a lover for your partner isnât the most common solution but itâs an idea Iâve heard a lot of asexual people be open to under the right circumstances and of course thatâs the most dramatic solution for a romantic tv drama.
Hjalmar is defined by so much more than his sexuality though. His main characteristic is his passion for social justice and equality, and other than some early show weirdness before they really cemented the characters, Hjamler is the only character who floats freely between the men and women. Heâs just as likely to sit with the men as he is the women, often appearing in otherwise entirely female spaces. Itâs never questioned or even brought up, not because heâs a âsafe asexualâ but because he cares and think their worries are as important as the menâs. Heâs often called a pessimist by the other men when in reality he is determined to be hopeful and compassionate and spread the love he feels the world is lacking as WWII draws closer.
So yeah, I just wanted to share this sweet ace guy with you because you probably wouldnât have known about him otherwise.

i think there is something to be said about the way a lot of popular western media (both within fiction and outside of it, now that i think about it) uses the pretense of nuance to obfuscate existing power dynamics.
the example i'm mulling over at the moment is netflix's Arcane, which depicts a pretty straightforward conflict between a brutally oppressive ruling class and an underclass that is out gunned, out manned, and lacks even the means to support its own population. despite this, the show takes a very even-handed "everybody's flawed" approach to how it portrays this conflict, one that seems to be increasingly popular in popular western media. this makes for a compelling story, the show takes the time to make sure we understand all the characters involved, their motivations, their flaws, their hopes, their dreams etc, but i think when people engage with that kind of narrative uncritically, they tend to miss the forest for the trees and get lost in pointless debates over which characters were more in the right or who's actions were more justified by their trauma etc. this kind of weightless, individualist approach seems to always lead to the same conclusion: that changing society is scary and traumatic and everybody is too flawed to be trusted with leading such a shift. how convenient that this always seems to benefit those already in power.
i'm thinking about this in regards to the reactions to the latest developments in the story of Arcane, which sees caitlyn supporting a military dictatorship, in part as a response to the trauma of losing her mother in jinx's terror attack. the reactions are pretty typical fandom discourse about whether or not her actions are understandable given what she's going through as a character, but what no one seems to be considering is that she's only able to undergo this change in the first place because of her class position, not just as a member of the wealthy elite of the overcity, but also as a respected member of the overcity's law enforcement. see, while the individual characters involved might be complex, the moral dimensions of the overall conflict really are not. one side has all the power and resources, as well as a vested interest in keeping the other side subjugated to maintain its dominant status quo. just because the dominant side is populated primarily with skinny attractive people a who're shown to be doing their best with the situation and the other are mostly grotesque caricatures of poverty stricken degenerates doesn't mean this is a difficult choice.
it remains to be seen how the actual show will play out, but i can't help but see it as continuing a trend of what i can only describe as a kind of smug liberal nihilism, crafting a brutal class conflict only to revel in the horrific spectacle of it all, basking in the complex moral greyness of its protagonists, uninterested in taking an actual stance. there's a point when nuance becomes a form of cowardice, imo

in the time loop the only way out is to leave her there but you don't ever leave her there, never in the roughly one thousand years you have been in the same day. it is probably like "50 first dates" but you haven't stooped so low as to watch "50 first dates" yet. (but who is to say what another thousand years of the same media will bring to you, maybe you will develop a new taste).
you spent about 200 of these years sulking in a bathtub or on the couch or staring at the seaside. 300 of them have been spent slowly mapping the geographical distance you can actually get before the time loop restarts. you have a list of favorite places: one library in Western Massachusetts called "The Bookmill", which has weird hours and has never raised an eyebrow to you arriving out-of-breath and panting, asking to see a specific book on a specific shelf. There is one beach without a name in North Carolina; it is an accident of geography and ownership title disputes - and it is pristine, untouched, warm and cozy. you've taken her on a lot of picnics there. Acadia National Park. One specific birdhouse in the mountains.
you were stuck in the time loop with the money you entered it with: not enough to rent a private jet. you've robbed a bank a few times, you don't like the way it ends. maybe next century you'll get the hang of it. you don't like the look on her face when you say hang on i have to stop at the bank.
you just have to leave her, and you can go back to being a person again. you took 5 years just catching a flight and sitting in the Grand Canyon. if there's one thing you regret more than anything, it's that you hadn't gotten your passport renewed before this fucking time loop. maybe you should spend some time learning forgery - but also, like, you look like an english teacher. nobody is going to be cool about you asking to see their paper printing machines.
the world is very big. that is one of the things groundhog day gets wrong. there are no consequences, so you have literally all the time (or none of the time?) in the world. in groundhog day, he does a lot of very cool things, but in reality - your muscle memory never gets better. you can't necessarily learn how to play piano or sculpt ice, because your hands never remember the practice. but hey - maybe you'll try violin next. drums. synth.
you can open any door and walk into any conversation. money isn't really an object. you can try every meal off every menu, forever. take her on helicopter tours and into every museum and on every event that is happening right-now at-this-moment. parades and funerals and calligraphy classes.
but you are somewhat trapped by the limitations of your body. if you were reading a book, you still need to get up and go back to the library and find that book again when the day resets. (thank god for the internet). it still takes like 2 hours to board a plane, and then takeoff and landing and traffic. you've gotten off to run around on the freeway. one of the little thankful things: since your brain isn't actually developing (it's a muscle too), the days thankfully don't feel shorter to you. that would be agony.
all you have to do to leave the timeloop is let that man get away with it. that's all. in every version of yourself - forever - you have stopped him.
the problem is that this experience has convinced you of the existence of the human soul. after all, how else are you forming memories? your very cells reset. information has to be transferred somehow. and if timeloops are real, you can convince yourself other magic exists. so you have two choices here: this hell, or the next. there might be a millennia where you have been worn down to the point you can accept fate's decision. this is just not one of them. ironically - she is the one thing you have left.
and besides! if you can't always find something new in your partner, aren't you failing them? there is something new about her, every day with the same morning. every brutal day with the same orange sunset.
after all, you wanted to live with her in heaven, in eternity, and, well - isn't this second-best.

biblically accurate, semi-realistic candace or kandake, who was a nubian queen
image renders:
Incoming yap about the current genshin problem:
As a Chinese person swarmed by western media, Liyue means so, so much to me. Seeing the culture that I've been taught to be ashamed of all my life being represented so accurately and positively makes me incredibly happy. It was the first time I saw the famous landscapes that I've visited in person and recreated a fantasy game. Seeing characters wear clothes with similar designs to what Iâve worn and eating similar foods to what Iâve eaten, is indescribable. The euphoria I felt when I first climbed atop of Qingyun Peak and heard the music is something I wish I could experience again.
That being said, Sumeru was a mess, and Natlan is just depressing. What I would give to have people from SEA/SWANA, Latin America, Africa, and Indigenous groups etc. to feel the same way I did when strolling through Liyue.
HYVâs colorism isnât just stifling their character designs; by whitewashing real-life people, real cultures and even their deities, they are inadvertently whitewashing history. They are taking from actual ethnic groups: learning their history and struggles, then retelling these narratives after replacing their people with bleached protagonists in orientalist clothing.
All this because of what? Out of touch beauty standards? The possibility of lower sales? Dehya is extremely loved in China and her fans donated thousands to a childrenâs charity in her name. Other Chinese companies like Lilith Games and Bluepoch donât have this problem. Dislyte is able to consistently pump out gorgeous character designs with varying skin tones and Reverse:1999 makes accurate designs and does in-depth research into the cultures of their characters.
Itâs a basic lack of respect.
I've heard that Iranian players were extremely happy and touched by their representation, and that's amazing. And most European, Chinese, and Japanese players are fine with theirs. I just wish this extended to the representation of people with skin tones that are darker.
HYV has shown that they are capable of making characters with darker skin tones and interesting designs, but they will only do that for npcs and enemies. Orientalism, culture mash-ups and inaccuracies across regions is unfortunately common in the game, but the problem with the unchanging pale color of playable characters reflects an obvious and sinister bigotry. I do personally believe that a lot of this has to do with the meddling of higher-ups; many playable characters look like theyâve been white-washed at the end of the process, and just from an art/design standpoint, they fit darker skin-tones much, much better.
It is impossible for Genshin to be a fully âfictional fantasy gameâ because they chose to bear the responsibility of incorporating real life cultures into their world-building. The criticisms about Sumeru and Natlan are what they brought upon themselves. If you donât want to represent properly, donât do it at all. You cannot take everything from a culture and leave their people out of it. They deserve the same respect and research as the region representing your own nation.
For the people who have seen themselves represented in media over and over again, or for those who do not care about being represented at all: even if YOU don't care, others do, and they have a damn good reason for it. This is a big deal, it isnât too much to ask for, and I will be blocking racists. Peace.

Dating A Foreign Partner
Ot7 x Reader
Summary: How the members would handle being in a relationship with a foreign S/o.
Warnings: brief mentions of racial/cultural discrimination,
A/N: Thank you to @bethanysnow for requesting this, I hope you like it!đđ I tried to keep these a bit lighter, but if thereâs something more specific that any of you would like to see, lmk!
Masterlist
°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘
Jin:
Sounds cliche, but I think he would really enjoy trying foods from where you're from, especially some of the more âunusualâ ones(I literally found out the other day that pb&j sandwiches are considered weird in Korea??)
I think you two would accidentally confuse each other with lesser known cultural differences, like when he first asks you to be official after only like two dates(which is normal in korean culture, but not so much in western dating)
Would become very aware of the prejudices and discrimination that foreign couples deal with in both your countries. Like, obviously he was aware it was an issue before, but dealing with it first hand made him realize just how much of an issue it was.
It would make his heart soo happy to see you learning how to speak Korean or embracing different parts of his culture.
(Secretly studies your native language to surprise you for your birthday or anniversary)
Yoongi:
I might be projecting a lil bit, but I can honestly see him having a foreign partner. Idk, I just see him not really paying much mind to things like race/nationality, he likes who he likes and thatâs it.
Might be a little shy about how much more comfortable you are with things like casual skinship tho, but he also kinda secretly loves it.
He would really love that youâre so direct sometimes, rather than trying to ask for things in a more roundabout âpoliteâ way that is considered proper in Korean culture. He would love that youâre to the point, like him.
Would be so flattered if you made the effort to learn Korean, grinning so big the first time he hears you use even something little like âHajimaâ correctly.
Heâd do the same with your language too. Learning about your culture would be really important to him, he wants you to know that he appreciates you and where you came from.
Hobi:
Tbh, I totally see him with a foreign partner, he would love the variety and unique energy that you bring to each other's lives.
I think he would tend to forget some of the differences in how you both grew up until you mention something more drastic like school safety drills and he has to do a double take like âwtf?!â
I think he would love how open and expressive you are about your home and culture, and loves learning about where you came from. Youâre his favorite person, he wants to know as much as possible about you!
Would have soo much fun teaching you about all the different holidays and traditions in Korea that differ from where youâre from.
Would be soo surprised if you learned to speak Korean, even if itâs just a few phrases at first. He just gets so happy and giggly hearing you speak.
Namjoon:
I think most people consider him the most likely out of the group to have a foreign partner, and tbh I kinda agree.
He would make a serious effort to learn as much about your country/culture as he could, possibly even wanting to visit there sometime with you.
Despite being pretty well versed in a lot of other cultures, he would definitely still have little moments of culture shock over random things like educational systems. Like I can imagine his surprise/confusion over the more lax approach in some schools or someone being homeschooled(hi).
Would be super impressed if you already knew some korean when you met, but if not, heâs more than happy to help you learn.
Lowkey quite protective over you, bc he knows how harsh Korean media can be towards celebrities having foreign partners.
Jimin:
Thinks your Korean is super cute! He finds it absolutely adorable the way you say certain words, and he loves the way you speak slowly and softly when youâre focused on pronouncing certain phrases correctly.
If youâre new to living in Korea, he would do his best to help you settle in and adjust to the differences in day to day life, as well as comforting you on the days when you feel homesick.
Loves learning about your culture, tho I think he would prefer learning from you than on his, just so he can watch how excited you get talking about your home.
Would be soo excited if he finds any similarities between your cultures, whether itâs how you celebrate certain holidays, or a similar dish. He loves finding those little connections.
Another who would be rather protective over you, especially if he knows you have anxieties about certain things due to public safety issues where youâre from. He just wants to make sure you to feel safe
Taehyung:
I know a lot of people see him as rather traditional when it comes to things like dating/relationships, but I could very much see him with a foreign partner, especially since he talked about wanting to live abroad at some point in the future.
I think he would find your different perspectives really refreshing, you really help broaden each other's horizons.
I honestly think he would be another who would sometimes forget the differences in how you both grew up until he brings up something and youâre like âWe never did that??â
Lowkey brags about you every chance he gets like âOh ,Y/nâs from (country name), and they were teaching me about-â
He never treats it as if youâre some sort of novelty tho, he just really loves you and wants to show you that he supports you and shares your pride for who you are and where youâre from.
Jungkook:
I think he would have a lot of fun with a foreign partner, learning about each other's cultures and sharing stories about your upbringings.
Might take him a while to adjust to things like your relationships/dynamics with other guys, just bc thatâs not quite as common in Korea, but I could see him actually really enjoying it if you fit into his friend group bc of that.
Another that would feel rather protective over you for similar reasons as Joon. If anyone so much as looks at you weird, heâs gonna shut them down soo fast.
He loves hearing you speak in your native language, thereâs something about it thatâs just so soothing and melodic about it to him. But itâs only when you're speaking, itâs not the same with anyone else.
Would ask you to teach him so that he can hear you speak it more(study dates where you help each other would be super cute and cozy)

A lot of the discourse on The Full Moon/Apology Tour has revolved around the pedestals that our boys put each other on. But I think the pedestal Stolas has Blitz on in particular often gets misunderstood.
I've seen a lot of takes that says that Stolas can't really love Blitz. He just loves the idea of Blitz . . . the one he's built up in his head based on romance novels and rom-coms and soap operas.
I think the reality is more complicated, and that even though, yes, Stolas idealizes Blitz, he also very much loves Blitz for his true self.
Let's look at some times when Stolas saw "the real Blitz," as his quirky, resilient, innovative, low-class self, and very much loved that person, and not just the knight in shining armor version of him.
The Circus.
Some have used this moment to say that Stolas idealized Blitz as a fantasy of what it must be like to be free.
And . . . yes. BUT ALSO. He only falls more in love (in a kid-crush kind of way) when he sees Blitz mess up on stage, get booed by the crowd, and make a joke that's clever but quite dark and niche. Creatively, to work his way through a difficult situation. There is SO MUCH in this short minute that reveals to us AND TO STOLAS who Blitz really is.
Seeing Stars
Oh boy. Let's make a list. I'm too tired to make this exhaustive, but in this episode, Stolas sees Blitz
Being careless in a way that puts Octavia in danger
Using an absolutely stupid costume to disguise himself
Getting terrible stage fright
Going way off script in the sitcom in (again) a way that's niche humor and does not appeal to most of the audience
LITERALLY HAVING A BREAK FROM REALITY AND SHOOTING UP THE TV STUDIO
Okay, so when Via is in danger, Stolas is unambiguously peeved by the mistake, but he forgives Blitz because Blitz puts in effort to find Via and make it right.
And in the rest of these instances, Stolas EITHER affirmatively likes the cringy and silly side of Blitz's personality:
Or without the slightest hesitation, when Blitz shows a real weakness, focuses not on disappointment that this man is not his perfect soap opera hero, but puts that aside and tries to help Blitz get out of trouble.
There's also this moment in Western Energy where Stolas is absolutely unbothered by Blitz's atrocious spelling and is genuinely just happy to think for a moment that Blitz cares. I feel like someone COULD twist this to be about Stolas having blinders on about what's right in front of him, but I don't think so. I think he's fine with Blitz not having all the same strengths that his society clearly values, and just wants to be loved back by this person who he has genuine feelings for.
So what doesn't Stolas know about Blitz before The Full Moon/Apology Tour? He doesn't know that Blitz hates himself. He doesn't know that Blitz pushes away people he cares about. He knows that Blitz has walls up but doesn't know why. You can fall for someone without knowing their deepest darkest hurts-- you can even love them. But you do need to know these things to have a deeper relationship with the person.
His focus on romantic media is a problem because it forms his expectations about relationships, not necessarily because it blinds him to who Blitz is. He wants to be rescued. He wants to be chased after. He doesn't understand that good relationships take a lot of work . . . and he'll need to learn that.
But he doesn't just love Blitz for these ideas. He loves Blitz for being Blitz.
This, like many of these essays, was inspired by a conversation with @akirathedramaqueen.
#stolitz#my helluva meta#stolas goetia#blitzo buckzo#blitz#blitzo#helluva boss#AND ALSO THIS IS A REASON WHY A RELATIONSHIP WITH âjust anyone elseâ WOULDN'T WORK#He's in love with Blitz#not just in love with love#I'm extremely healthy about this guys

SIDEREAL / VEDIC ASTROLOGY OBSERVATIONS #5
disclaimer: all of my observations comes from my observations on celebrities and my social circle who has this nakshatras. if you're offended just block me mwah đđđ
THE FAME PLACEMENT FOR ME ARE: The ones that i listed are the ones that I observed in celebrities and one hit wonders.
RAHU /KETU NAKSHATRAS (ASHWINI, ARDA, MAGHA, SWATI, MULA AND SHATABHISTA)
âď¸ Explanation: As much as vedic twitter wants y'all to believe that Ketu nakshatras are very "inactive" on social media, NO THEY'RE NOT!!!! They are most likely to be lurking and active. Not interacting tho but LURKING. They have multiple social media accounts. They gain followers really quickly (and likes) especially Rahu ruled nakshatras.
CAPRICORN RASHI, LIBRA RASHI AND AQUARIUS NAKSHATRA
âď¸Explanation: Capricorn rashi and Libra rashi is the most concerned when it comes to reputation. Libra rashis "people pleaser" stereotype stems to the fact that they value reputation and their public image a lot (and not about your feelings). Prime example is the Hollywood. It's dominated by Sidereal Libras. While Capricorn rashi interact with certain type of people with power to elevate their status and also they have a talent to knows who's to be friend or associate and they really love spotlight more than a leo does.
WHEN RAHU/KETU CONJUNCT YOUR LUMINARIES
âď¸ Explanation: I've just seen this placement on random people that has nakshatra that doesn't care about fame and yet they're still famous bevause they have a luminaries conjunct their rahu/ketu. It applies to especially when you're going through a rahu transit conjunct one of your luminaries.
SUPRISINGLY: 12TH HOUSE PLACEMENTS AND PISCES RASHI (especially revati)
âď¸ Explanation: They usually social media famous though, prime example is V from BTS and Angelina Jolie gained a large count of followers on Instagram in such a short period of time (ofcourse they're famous but I've seen this in my personal colleagues that have revati nakshatra also, huge following type)
MARS NAKSHATRA (MRIGASHIRA, CHITRA AND DHANISTHA)
âď¸ Explanation: The moon with this nakshatra especially, they go thru rahu mahadasha and this mahadasha/antardasha is a one of the indicators of potential fame in your life. Nicki Minaj became household phenomenon on her Rahu Mahadasha.
Don't underestimate the sun.
There is a reason why the SUN is our natural atmakaraka . I also often notice this in the Vedic community that "Sidereal Leo are being Sidereal Leo," and their prime examples are BeyoncĂŠ and Michael Jackson. If you have Sidereal Leo placements, it doesn't mean you exude BeyoncĂŠ or Michael Jackson. Most Sidereal Leos I know have identity issues, not just Rahu/Ketu Nakshatra. Atmakaraka is the soul's purpose (not the North Node, because the way the North Node portrays the soul's purpose in Western Astrology is not it).
What I will really illustrate here are Sidereal Libra suns. They are stereotyped in Western astrology that "Scorpios" are said to be obsessive. Sidereal Libra SUN needs to learn how to balance their relationships and love someone properly, so sometimes they become intense. They need to learn how to balance (just like their symbol).
Aside from ketu nakshatras infamous for being rockstar cult like fans, It's also applicable for Shatabhista and Arda. Swati dominates the movie/acting industry but music? Shatabhista and Arda. I emphasize that they're great at heartbreaking songs especially Arda (with Punarvasu).
The most obvious fact is that Mars dominating the rap/hiphop industry. (second on the list is mercury influence, and the runner up is Sagittarius rashi)
The Examples I can think of:
Eminem (Chitra sun, Dhanista moon)
Travis Scott (Bharani Sun, Anuradha moon)
Jay Z ( Jyestha sun but his Hasta moon contributed too)
Nicki Minaj ( Jyestha sun, Uttara phalguni moon)
Doja Cat ( Chitra sun, Uttara phalguni moon)
Megan Thee Stallion (Dhanista sun)
Logic (Jyestha moon)
Latto (Mula sun, the dispositor of her moon is Ashwini which is mars)
Central Cee (Sidereal taurus stellium (Sun, Mars and Mercury) dispositor is Ashwini Venus, Hasta moon)
Kendrick Lamar (Mrigashira sun, Dispositor of his moon is Jyestha)
Tyler the Creator (Anuradha moon)
Queen Latifah (Bharani ascendant)
Flo Milli (Dhanista moon, Dispositor of her sun and moon are Ashwini and Bharani)
21 Savage (Chitra sun, dispositor of his sun is Anuradha venus)
Metro Boomin (Sidereal virgo stellium (He has Jupiter and Mars in Chitra)
Future (Anuradha sun (Sidereal Scorpio stellium), Parivaritan yoga in his mercury and mars)
@//KisseslikeKay did a thread about video vixens (women who models and appears in hiphop oriented music videos) and they either have mars nakshatra or mars rashi.

No, ppl, VPNs aren't even possible for many MANY ppl in the third world. You can't buy a VPN in a brick and mortar store, and many of us (adults who are parents of kids in schools and everything) don't even own credit cards. Many who do still cannot afford VPN because what is easily affordable to a Westerner could pay my bills for a whole month. It depends on how poorly my currency is performing against the US dollar.
Even Paypal is sth mythical. I mean, I've had pieces accepted in US magazines for what the editors said was a token payment, about 50 dollars. Man, those 50 dollars would've paid off so much! That would be a FORTUNE. But I had to waive the payment EVERY time because Paypal doesn't work in my country. Grrr.
That doesn't mean third world countries listed on the Paypal site can use it either. My country is on it but every time I filled surveys etc and they transferred the money, I couldn't get my bank to let me have it. I know a third worlder in another country who has had that happen to them too.
My heart goes out to fellow readers and writers in Malaysia. Some of the most mindblowingly beautiful fics I've ever read (they were gushed abt by Americans and Brits and Aussies so I assumed the writers were native English speakers) turned out to have been written by fellow third worlders, one of those in my own country! The idea of waking up to find my country decided to ban ao3 is just... unbearable.
I hope the Malaysians find a way around it. And I hope whoever made that horrible decision gets the worst RPF written abt them AND hears about it from their political rival.
--
Yeah, I'm always meeting fans online from certain countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines. Some places just seem to produce a lot of nerds. Or maybe more people learn English? IDK. Both a lack of (popular-with-fans) local media and a lack of economic opportunity can incentivize foreign language learning, so I'm sure that's part of it along with a certain amount of randomness.
In any case, part of why AO3 is run on donations instead of having paid accounts with better features is that a lot of core fans who write the fic and make the recslists and make fandom happen turn out to be in situations where they literally cannot pay even if they have the money.
Someone who's popular might be able to get foreign friends to pay for their VPN, but even then, can they actually get access to it? Questionable.
As for the last, it will be with their political rival, and you know it! They'll have to hear from some aide. ;D

Israel, the worldâs most innocent country, fell victim to a horrific attack from Iran with zero reported casualties on the same day Israel killed dozens of civilians in Gaza.
Israel had been minding its own business, quietly bombing hospitals, schools, universities, mosques, and an embassy, when the Iranian regime launched their outrageous attack for no apparent reason. Thankfully, the US and UK scrambled jets to defend Israeli airspace because itâs wrong to bomb countries in the Middle East, unless your name is Israel, in which case you can do all the bombing you want.
Every British and American ship in the region is now in grave danger and the risk of terror attacks on our soil has surely increased, but you will be relieved to know our countries have not benefitted in any way from our intervention. Personally, I canât think of a better way for Israel to spend our tax money.
Our leaders have condemned Iran in the strongest possible terms, which is confusing because I thought we were supposed to remain ambiguous and say weâre investigating the matter when such an attack occurs. Perhaps this is one of those rules that only applies to Israel though.
When informed of the attack, a calm and rational Suella Braverman screamed: âWAR! I WANT WAR!â and when sheâd stopped hyperventilating, she added: âThis must be the end of western backsliding on Israel,â because she thinks we have not been sufficiently supportive of their genocide. Anyone who is not on the same side of the argument as Suella Braverman must ask serious questions about themselves.
Iranâs unprovoked attack involved giving Israel adequate warning and launching 30-year-old missiles, 99% of which were intercepted, and then saying the matter is closed unless Israel escalates further. The fact Iran would consider retaliating to further escalation from Israel shows just extreme these lunatics are.
Among Iranâs targets was the Israeli air base from which the missiles that struck its embassy were launched, killing 13 on April 1. As of yet, we have no indication as to why Iran carried out the attack, but weâre going to tell you itâs because they want to start World War III. Psychos.
Conspiracy theorists have suggested itâs actually Benjamin Netanyahu who wants escalation, but itâs unclear why the man who faces political oblivion, and possibly jail, would be incentivised to draw his allies into the fight and cause everyone to forget his many war crimes.
Israel, the country that definitely does not want war, has vowed an âunprecedentedâ response against Iran which will probably kill many more than zero people. If Iran expresses disapproval at Israelâs next mass murder, itâs because theyâre trying to destabilise the region. At this point, weâll have no choice but to help Israel do to Iran what weâve spent six months helping them do to Gaza - launch precision strikes that destroy 70% of the buildings in the country and leave survivors living in tents.
Worryingly, weâve just discovered at the most convenient moment that Iran has enough uranium to build 12 nuclear bombs. If it were true that Iran had so much weapon-grade uranium, it would be incredibly stupid to attack them, but weâre going to insist we must attack them because weâre weapon-grade idiots - and we think you are too.
Please just switch your brain off and accept what youâre being told, you simpletons! What matters is rich people can afford nuclear bunkers if this all goes horribly wrong. In the meantime, you can look forward to lots of exciting stories in the media about bringing back conscription and describing how you are likely to die in humanity's final war. Are you looking forward to radiation sickness and nuclear winter? Because they sound like brilliant fun! x
Thank you so much for reading! If you enjoyed this outstanding piece of journalism as much as I did, you can support my work here:

Hi! I would love to read a JC and WWX post and how it is diff from what youâve seen in western media!
I'd already started writing a JC post, so I wrapped that in to answer your question.
I follow a few JC fans so I see the backlash to the haters more than I see any haters, but apparently thereâs some question in some peopleâs mind about whether Jiang Cheng loves Wei Wuxian, and I find that a little silly. That said, I think that to understand MDZSâs JC at all, you cannot just read the surface, so if youâre not thinking about him as a person or giving him any consideration beyond what other characters say and think of him, youâre not doing him justice. Youâre also not going to see that he loves WWX and also loves several other people quite deeply, because a) JC's never going to be affectionate in his dialogue, b) JC's not going to even be affectionate in his body language or minor actions, and c) WWX, the main viewpoint character, is never once going to think about whether JC likes him or loves him.
Lots of posts have outlined better than I will how deeply loves not only WWX, but also his family, in particular JL. The short version is: JCâs his major flaws are all related to him loving his parents and getting shown very little affection in returnânone at all from his father and only some in a backhanded way from his mother, usually in comparison to WWX.
As for Jin Ling, JC threatens him all the time, and even shoves him around a bit, but Jin Ling obviously adores JC and feels adored. JC is the one Jin Ling goes to when he's crying; JC is also the one who leaps to JL's side when JL is hurt. JL knows he's in trouble with JC when JL does something unsafe, but JL knows that his own safety is the most important thing in JC's life. Tellingly, JL rarely takes any of JC's threats seriously, and even tells other people said threats are bogus.
Then thereâs WWX. Even while JC is berating WWX endlessly for making their clan look bad, he is literally carrying around WWX on his back. He is protecting WWX with everything he has. He sacrifices himself to the Wens to WWX won't get caught. After their falling out, after WWX lied to him for years and got their sister killed, JC still can't even stop himself from protecting WWX when WWX might get hurt by JGY's guqin string.
The guy is willing to throw himself on the fire for anyone he loves. Just heaven forbid he express any of it. But because he does not express love through speech, Wei Wuxian (who I will point out is a talker) doesn't understand this about Jiang Chengâand this is shown to be a consistent flaw that WWX has. He also does not understand that LWJ is in love with him, despite LWJ defying all of society to follow him around and lift him onto donkeys whenever WWX gets droopy.
But I'd add the pretty much no one, other than Jin Ling, understands this about Jiang Cheng. If the cultivation world had understood JC, they would not have believed that JC and WWX had actually had a falling out. Part of the reason people don't know him is the same reason JC has such a terrible time with everythingâWWX steals everyone's attention, praise, and fear wherever they go. No one is really looking at JC to admire his devotion or his loyalty, because WWX is there, doing it better than him, always. Imagine LWJ+WWX hadnât defeated the Tortoise of Slaughter and had just been holed up in that cave for six days. All anyone wouldâve talked about was how deeply JC must love his shixiong to make it back in such record time. It would all be âheroic rescueâ this âunflagging loyaltyâ that. But instead, LWJ+WWXÂ had to really just steal the limelight.
In fact, the book is partly about the fact that people don't analyze people's actions too deeply. They believe what they hear. They believe what they want to believe. JC really can just say "I reject WWX" and they believe it. JGS can really just say "WWX is evil" and they believe it. Everybody says LWJ is perfect, so they believe he can't be a cut-sleeve who is in love with WWX. And WWX, who knows better than anyone that rumors aren't true, believes it too.
Even after WWX's death, JC's reputation is locked onto WWX. I do think this is JCâs own fault, given that he canât accept his brotherâs death and is obsessed with him but idk. Canon demonstrates that thereâs a huge difference between what JC says heâll do if he finds WWX and what JC actually does, and itâs not because LWJ is in the way. But no one really seems to pay attention to the difference between what JC says and what he actually does when the chips are down, except JL, so itâs no wonder everyone says he has torture dungeons, no matter how ludicrous that is.
I think what makes JCâs love for WWX particularly complex, and particularly incomprehensible in the eyes of the cultivation world, is WWX's position in JC's family. JC thought of WWX as a brother. He loved him like a brother. And yet JC was deeply aware that WWX wasn't his brother. JC's mom made sure that JC was deeply aware of that at all times, and you know what, so did his dad. And then, the rest of the cultivation world constantly talked about the fact that WWX was not a part of the family, that the Jiang Clan raised him like a son but he was really the son of a servant. MXTX expertly shows that this fact gets trotted out whenever WWX does something questionable--when WWX is brilliant, he's a lauded member of the clan, but when he is bad, he is of low-birth and adopted through charity. The truth is, itâs an unusual relationship for a world in which thereâs a pretty big different between your clan (blood relatives) and sect.
How can JC hold both of these truths in his head? What makes it bearable for JC is that when they grow up, JC will be the Sect Leader and WWX will be his right-hand man; they will do everything together; they will be brilliant together; they never have to worry about blood or debt then, because then it won't matter whether they're brothers or best friends; the difference won't matter. They can both be the head of a family that they love. Except that doesn't happen.
JCâs parents die, and WWX disappears. I will, at this point in my understanding and credit to Jiang Cheng, say that the part about JC I find hardest to swallow is that he partially blames his parents' death on WWX. Yes, WWX stayed behind in the cave of the Tortoise of Slaughter to save LWJ, and yes, this meant that Wen Chao and WLJ have a particular grudge against him, which they use as partial excuse to attack Lotus Pier, but by god, that's a stretch. Lotus Pier would have been attacked anyway, and the fact that JC even partly blames the attack on WWX has far more to do with what his mom said about WWX showing off for the glory and bringing down the wrath of the Wens than it has to do with reality. YZY is going to say anything she can about how WWX being a hero with the Tortoise of Slaughter was actually a bad thing, because it's so fucking painful for her that WWX is a fucking legend when her son just . . . isn't.
As JGY points out, they were in fact the strongest sect once WWX comes back from the Burial Mounds and fights the Sunshot Campaign with JC. They could have been the power couple of JCâs dreams, but just as YZY pits JC against WWX, the cultivation world after the war pitted WWX against themselves and by extension, JC, and JC buys into it. I find this super understandable, and I think itâs pretty unfair to expect JC to be more understanding of WWX, given that WWX is constantly lying to him. Similarly, I think itâs pretty understandable that he doesnât understand the plight of the Wens, given that WWX doesnât explain it to him at all. From JCâs POV, WWX just leaves, at a time when JC really needs him, and he does it on a crusade for unrelated peopleâas though he never considered himself part of the family in the first place.
And you know what, that may be WWXâs POV too. He loves the Jiang family like his own family, but heâs also deeply aware that he is not blood. MXTX makes it very clear in canon that WWX felt that he owed the Jiang Clan, and not in the way you owe a family. That isâhe doesnât owe them his existence, but he thinks he does owe them his core and his cultivation. And he gives it all to JC.
I outlined above that the relationship between JC and WWX is unusual in the cultivation world given that they each feel like the other is family but are consistently reminded of the fact, and pressured to believe, that they are only sect siblings and that WWX is actually a subordinate. I also havenât found many relationships like this in other mediaâthough Iâll point out once again that my experience is mainly with western media. I think the closest things I can think of are stories in which the parties are of a different class but are raised together for whatever reasonâbecause they actually are somewhat related but one of them has low class relatives, or because they were not as well-supervised in their youth but one of them suddenly comes into money and is forced to leave his low-class BFF behind, etc.
Given that this relationship is unusual, you donât see a lot of situations like WWXâs, in which WWX feels like he owes the Jiang family his golden core and then gives it to him. But thereâs another element to this sacrifice that Iâve only seen in one other piece of media, and thatâs the fact that WWX knows that JC canât live without being special, and WWX thinks he can handle it.
There is so much in western media about brothers giving up their lives to protect their brothers (Supernatural), or even just giving up their dreams and ambitions so that their brother can follow his own dreams instead (Itâs a Wonderful Life). But these sacrifices are always framed as âI love him so much,â or âItâs my dutyâ or âI couldnât live with myself if he didnât get what he wantedâ and sometimes even, âI can handle the suffering and I donât want him to live with it.â But thereâs something about WWXâs âeh itâs not a big deal to me and it is to himâ or his âbroâs kinda petty and canât get over himself, whatchu gonna doâ that feels stupidly singular.
WWX never says it isnât a big deal. He never said that it didnât hurt or that he didnât make a sacrifice. He never said JC was pathetic or a loser or anything that diminishes JC or makes him less than he is. What he says is that JC is always competitive and comparing himself to others, which is true. But the other sacrifices in fiction that come close are a little more âI donât want you to have to sufferâ or even âIâm strong, and youâre weak, so Iâll take on this burden for you.â Meanwhile WWX doesnât think JC is weak, and while WWX doesnât want to suffer, he certainly doesnât want to suffer himself. The sentiment feels closer to âyou need to feel special so Iâll make that happen for you,â and thereâs something about it that is a little condescending.
I mentioned that Iâve only seen this kind of thing one other time, and it was in a baseball anime called Touch that aired in Japan in the 1980s. Touch is a story about twins, one of whom is smart, talented, and works hard. The other twin, Tatsuya, is good in school and good at baseball, but at first seems like a lazy guy who only cares about joking around and having fun. Then you find out heâs a genius and a one-in-a-lifetime talent, but just never bothered to focus on anything because heâs so stupidly good at everything that he would just show his brother up, and his brother cares about excelling and Tatsuya doesnât, so he justâŚwas careful to never apply himself to anything.
WWX isnât Tatsuya, in that when theyâre on an even playing field, WWX doesnât really seem to have any compunctions about showing off. But as soon as the playing field becomes uneven, he also has no compunctions about destroying himself so that JCâs competitive spirit is satisfied. Thereâs something about it that has a flavor of âIâm better than you,â even if itâs never what WWX meant to communicate. No wonder JC feels like a clown.
Like, in the end, WWX kind of did make a fool of JC, even though WWX did it out of both love and loyalty. I'm not sure I've ever read or seen anything else where such a sacrifice has such ambiguity, and it really makes the WWX+JC relationship one of the most complicated I've seen.

OP there first claimed that I was only using Western sources, then blocked me when I shared too many tweets from anti-Hamas Palestinians.
Not the first time. That is standard operating procedure in the pro-Palestinian movement. And it's probably the biggest red flag, out of a LOT of red flags, that this isn't any kind of grassroots progressive movement.
It's an astroturfed far-right Hamas movement, disguised with progressive buzzwords.
A progressive movement would be centering and platforming the activists on the ground. The people directly affected, who have expertise and knowledge in what's happening and what helps.
Not blocking them on sight, as many Palestinian activists have complained SJP leaders and pro-Pal influencers are doing. (Sometimes AFTER calling them "Zionists.")
Kudos to @queermarzipan for reporting OP for supporting terrorism. I'm posting this to show everyone how easy it is to do that. And to encourage fucking beg people to report worship of Hamas, PFLP, and all their pals.
This shit is screwing over the actual people of Gaza.
It's actively helping Hamas to continue silencing Gazan voices.
And it's abandoning the people of Gaza who have fought Hamas so fucking hard and suffered so fucking much at its hands.
I'll hand this post over to Gazan activist Hamza Howidy to explain more.
instagram
We Gazans attempted several times to remove Hamas from power. In 2019 and in 2023, the people of Gaza held peaceful marches against Hamas; for this crime, we were brutally assaulted by Hamas militants. Hamas imprisoned over 1,300 protestors at each protest.
I was one of them. I was personally imprisoned by Hamas and tortured twice, because I participated in these protests.
So I know firsthand that when ordinary Gazans like myself protested against Hamas, there was no media attention.
No human rights organizations demanded the release of prisoners held for months in Hamas prisons, not to mention those who were tortured by Hamas, and even killed by Hamasâlike Issam Al-Saaffein, who was killed under torture in Hamas's jails.
This trend has continued during the present war. Since October 7, hundreds of Gazans have been killed by Hamas' failing rockets. Hamas has confiscated the food, fuel, and medicine sent to Gaza, and they did not stop here. 13-year-old Ahmad Breka was shot in the head by Hamas in Rafah while attempting to collect humanitarian aid. Others were fortunate because they were merely shot in the legs by Hamas while attempting to grab humanitarian goods that Hamas stole and kept in their facilities. These inhumane acts, along with the agony that Gazans have undergone since October, prompted many to demonstrate anew during this war.
They demonstrated in Khan-Younis in front of Yahya Sinwar's house; others protested in the north, asking that Hamas free the captives and cease the war.
They received the same response from Hamas that I did: They were fired upon.
There have been protests in Gaza, throughout the war, demanding that Hamas surrender so they can finally have peace.
Nobody in the movement has heard of it or mentioned it. Much less coordinated protests with them, or amplified their demands. Instead, our protests ignore them at best. And often, openly fly Hamas flags.
Everyone who cares about Palestinians needs to reclaim this movement from Hamas and its supporters.
This is just one step towards doing that.

âArknights/Limbus Company/etc is obviously very political, why are these incels playing it?â Hereâs a longer answer if youâre interested.
If you havenât been watching gacha communities for the past decade this might be confusing to you, but these guys see the games as just apolitical stories with a majority or all-female cast being there to titillate the male viewer. They are for his consumption. Itâs why in both eastern and western âgacha gameâ communities you can see them talking about how these games are better for having âbeautifulâ anime women versus the hideous hags of western media. Iâve seen so many people asking âhow are incels playing a game with so many strong female characters?â They see them not as âstrong femaleâ characters but rather âeyecandy made for meâ. tbh when it comes down to it I wouldnât call any of the designs in these games absolutely groundbreaking for the anime genre theyâre aiming for. Arknights even follows the standard âfully animal faced-guyâ and the female equivalent âsmall featured anime animal girl with some furâ. This doesnât mean the designs are bad or youâre foolish for enjoying them of course, there are a lot of fun ones. Anyway, you can see the same sentiment in the majority of anime communities as well. Like do you think that stereotype of an anime nerd who âloves 2D women but hates 3D womenâ means heâs a feminist because the 2D girl is still female?
To be frank, after some of the actions taken by these companies (ex. the firing of women for posting anything vaguely feminist) can you honestly say an âapolitical game with anime babesâ is not the way the games are often enjoyed? The company Yostar who publishes Arknights in Korea literally wrote a statement saying the game is apolitical and calling feminism a dividing force. If the publisher can say something so flippantly like this just to appease their incel fanbase, how can the game be making any meaningful, hardline progressive political statements? I am of course not saying this renders any positive message you get from these games moot nor am I saying itâs impossible for the writers to be passionate about their work, Iâm just relaying the thoughts of the incels/âgacha gamersâ playing them because there seems to be confusion. What Iâm writing here doesnât mean the worst interpretation of these games are their defining interpretations. Iâm trying to explain how the games that many people see as being antithetical to incel beliefs can have these same men as high-spending fans.
Gacha games are unique in the world of consumer media in their extremely close and constant relationship with the consumer. You have to not only love each characterâs design (and sometimes story) but also be willing to drop serious gambling money to âbuyâ them every single month. Itâs like merchandizing on steroids. I think the term âwhaleâ has been watered down since younger kids have started playing, but these people spend thousands per patch. Over the years Iâve heard about multiple games like this being sustained by just a couple of high spenders. In 2018 there was even a western news article about a man who had spent $70k+ on FGO. The publisher canât rock the boat too much to displease the consumer too many times without risking EoS. Every character design and story of a gacha game is affected by this FIRST while any artistic intent comes second.
A Korean woman who had lost her job due to similar âfeminist huntingâ tactics wrote an article describing the way these incel men think. I posted it here and part of it summarized: the men that play these games see themselves as buying and âowningâ the female characters in gacha games, who are often dressed and presented to them in a highly sexualized manner and will obey their commands. In the same way they âownâ these 2D women, they also want to own the thoughts of the real live female illustrators who work on the games. Therefore, if these women have expressed ideas that the male gamers find upsetting, they will be angry she doesnât conform to what they want like the servile 2D girl and do everything to get her fired (this is where she mentions Limbus Company as the most recent example of this happening).
You can argue for some of these games, maybe the girls arenât dressed super provocatively and give (you) shit instead of being a simpering doll, but in the end itâs not like they can physically walk away or stop speaking to you. For the âwaifuâ hunter guy itâs just a different type of anime girl to collect.
The stories in these games are generally not what gets targeted as much by incels. In gacha âgamerâ communities, especially the Korean incel ones, their main concerns are: how revealing are the summer swimsuits? How many women work for the company designing characters? and related, Are the male characters designed for women or for men and do they âlook gayâ? If you search through this blog, you can see them directly speaking about these things in regards to their hatred of Genshin Impact and Star Rail. All of these have also been encapsulated in the original Limbus Company incel attack: they hated that the summer female character looked more âclothedâ (wearing a skintight suit instead of a bikini) than the male summer character. They thought the collar necklace and open shirt on the male summer character meant he was âa slaveâ for the female viewers, so obviously it was designed by a woman. When they learned a man designed and illustrated those characters, they searched to find a female illustrator who worked in the game and went after her instead. These guys WERE FANS that played the game beforehand and didnât think anything in the story was upsetting enough to attack the company about. They were familiar enough with the works of Project Moon to name their little group after an antagonizing force in one of PMâs previous (non-gacha) videogames. And Project Moon saw them as such a significant part of their gacha fanbase that they wrote an immediate apology and fired the artist. How do these actions in reality inform their fiction and the interpretation of it? Getting this out of the way, they were NOT in any danger, the âfansâ were not clamoring to get in their offices or camping outside, they were let in and calmly had a meeting with some employees at the office. You can still find photos of them goofing around, the ridiculous write up they brought with them and a transcript of the conversation. This was not a âguy shows up at Mihoyoâs offices with a knifeâ situation. In the end it was a financial and moral loss for the studio with many new and longtime fans completely dropping the games and Limbus Company taking one of the biggest financial and D/MAU drops for a gacha Iâve ever seen. You can read more regarding the ramifications of this here, this post is already pretty long for this website anyway.
Again Iâm not writing this to shame anyone who plays these games, loves their characters or enjoys their stories. I donât really care either way, and I obviously find the genre interesting or else I wouldnât have been monitoring it and the fans for a decade. I just want to shine a light on the thoughts of the more âincelâ gamers that play some of these games since I have seen a lot of genuine confusion as to why they would play them. In the future my aim is to write a more in-depth post about these issues, their history and the way antifeminists think.
