this one panel in issue #50 and it's, like, not THAT bad alright

fuck it im tired and had a long day this is my treat to myself. im talking about that panel. yes, THAT panel. which one?

THIS ONE. alrighty this is off the cuff and terrible, lets go.

so this panel isnt like, that bad in context when it comes to Sonic. i think specifically "ive made peace with enough enemies to know there is a better way" is a really interesting line here, because it calls back to the amount of times that the "villain" hes fought has just been a person whos hurting, and how hes been able to help those people. it makes sense that eventually hes more keen on trying to figure out someones whole story before deciding if theyve gotta go (which is rare).

but i want to talk about the FRAMING of this panel, and specifically the larger context of this issue in particular. theres a lot of flip-flopping in perspectives. usually, IDW is told through Sonic's perspective (loosely, this kind of thing is up to interpretation a lot), but in issue 50, it switches rapidly between four different groups -- Sonic and Surge, Tails and Kit, Eggman and Starline, and Belle and Metal. within these groups, the perspective its being told from changes a few times, but never as much as Sonic and Surge's do

i actually love these two when they interact as a storyteller myself, and one that has handled scripts too often for my own liking. Sonic and Surge do this thing where they push and pull the pacing of the script to fit their motives -- Surge keeps trying to escalate things, whenever shes in a panel everything starts pushing rapidly and it feels like the panels are tumbling off the page. when Sonic does anything, though, its slow and deliberate. hes having fun fighting, sure, but he can very much tell that Surge is trying to kill him and hes not having any of that. Sonic keeps things slow and focused, Surge tries to push things faster and unfocused. i could get into how this reflects her motivations and stuff but thats not what this is about i already lost track of what i was talking about fuck hang on

ok so. Surge knows shes supposed to be Sonic, to be BETTER than Sonic. its all she knows, really, and thats the problem. shes traumatized and full of rage and Sonic has been put on this high pedestal, not just by her, but by everyone. she cannot stand this.

this panel is how SURGE sees Sonic, specifically the composition. hes shrouded in light and physically above her -- its not even that subtle of a metaphor, they use it all the time in idw.

the entire overpowered saga shows Surge clawing for control of herself, her life, her freedom... this issue sets all that up in the main story. the way Sonic is framed here isnt how he sees himself at all. weve seen him do this exact same thing from his own perspective before, where everyone is on even ground. he doesnt see himself as above anyone, this instance of him being depicted as such isnt alluding to how Sonic feels about himself, its how Surge feels about Sonic.

and, look, its not the most well-done in the world. this issue has a whole host of problems, evident by the constant switching of focus from one group to a next (a problem that i think they did better on in the Phantom Rider saga). i literally forgot about Belle and Metal in this issue bc theres just so much more going on, i wouldve loved for them to slow things down a bit, maybe splitting it into two issues, but hey, what can you do, yk?

as an aside, i think its really weird how people narrow in on this specific panel of Sonic as being "so out of character", which i sorta like, 30% agree with (i think some phrasing could be better), and then ignore the page right after it...

...in which he pretty much says "you dont get freedom if youre gonna be a problem". funnily enough, on twitter i have this flow chart saved whenever i need a quick guide on Sonics morality and stuff, its really not that complicated

none of this is new imo, we see he has the same philosophy in sa1 and satbk. Chaos was blinded by rage and pain after being trapped for thousands of years RIGHT after they were attacked by the echidnas. Merlina was so scared of death (implied to be because she had lost family members and wasnt able to cope with it well) that she became a monster in an attempt to never let anything change ever again. these arent very different stories in my head i guess, just cases of Sonic seeing people who are hurting and doing his best to free them from that.

uhhhh anyways. all this is disorganized i forgot what i was talking about like 5 times while writing this but. people on twitter are ripping into this issue again. like its a b tier issue stop acting like its an f yk Q_Q i will defend anything if people are too mean tbh

HESITANT ALIEN AU LORE PT2 !! Meeting Maya "the Psychic"

so after gee and mikey r now settling in, starting to see how earth really is, theyre trying to fit in moreso than making music bc frank and ray sadly had to tell them that their alien characteristics r gonna make them be targetted and thats exactly what happened.

some scientists (ill come up w a name soon for their company im not that creative i fear) saw that there was paranormal activity in the area and tried to track it down bc they were wondering what it could have been to up the sensitivity on the radar so one of their skilled workers, maya, decided to take on the role to try and find who it was and where to find them. 

the four goofies went to a small coffee shop one day that wasn't crowded (suspiciously) to kinda just chat n work on things and so they ordered their coffee but the barista went "hey are you two  (mikey and gee) alright? you have some...green...on your face." and gerard panicked because even though theyre in their human form, some if the green still shows so he was like "yeah we're good! just uhhh face paint! that didn't wash off!" ... the barista got suspicious until she realised that gee and mikey were the paranormal activity that her and the scientists were trying to find all this time. she then decided to use a small suplement in their coffee that'll only affect them if they weren't human...how clever

the four got their coffees and mikey spoke up, saying that his coffee looked weird, and even had a small scent to it, and frank n ray were like "mkay just dont drink it then dw" and once mikey had calculated what was actually in the coffee, he tried to warn gee about it but he already was drinking it and mikey's face dropped. everyone was like "yo r you okay? have you seen a ghost or smthn 😭😭😭" and mikey couldn't even respond ... gerard soon then chirped that his head was starting to hurt, and he was growing dizzy, which is what mikey was worried about this whole time. it was a galatic drug that was inside of the drink that'd only affect aliens and orher creatures like him and gee, so soon gerard started to daze and then he passed out, the three guys panicking like wtf wtf wtf! bc they wanted to call 911 but knew if the doctors realised the two were aliens, something bad could happen. the barista soon came over to help like "what happened? should i call the ambulance?" and frank blurted "no!" and she looked confused, "why wouldnt i call them? your friend is unconscious.." and frank soon realised that did sound weird coming out of his mouth so he backtracked "well uhm i meant-" "dont worry, maybe i can help instead." and then a few secret soldiers from said scientific company or wtv came out and hit the three with the back of their guns to knock them out and then the barista clicked her walkie-talkie on, "we got one." 

soon, gerard woke up in a white room, in almost like a doctors or dentist chair with a woman leaning over him who suspiciously looked like the barista he saw earlier. she soon revealed herself to be maya "the psychic", working with an agency who researches the paranormal and they kept gee there to test on him n things and uhhh yeah he then turned into the blonde counterpart of himself thats seen in the ref sheet and then will be in the artwork im still working onnn

still tryna think of a way on how the other three find gerard to save him but thats abt it for now ... im ngl this extra lore is lowkey a flop only bc i just wanted to incorporate maya and this specific hesitant alien outfit gee wore during the tours in the au so.... srry this is lowkey shit but whatevs 👅 also gee still would have his alien antennas i just didnt feel like adding them dw dw

(sorry no hc of Eddie.... can only focus on Steve ❤️)..... my favorite favorite favorite autistic Steve hc is that he is so so charming so charismatic so cool but it's entirely an act..... like he learned it from books and movies and watching other people and like his emotional / social intelligence is thru the roof bc of that.... I think I saw it described in a fic once as "he knows exactly what people want to hear"..... and I think he does revel in being a chameleon and doing that but of course it's draining!!! my fav is him letting the mask down in front of Very Important people..... but yeah I really really hc Steve as being super high masking, very capable socially, very able to read people. he's used so much of his life to think about others and be what's best in any possible situation. he always wants to be perfect in his interactions with people, wants to 'win' at it. wants to be the best version of himself for every person that he meets. and he mostly does. he's good at it, he's smart and a lot of people follow the same sort of conversions, expect similar things. he’s been around enough people and been in enough situations to have scripts and reactions to most scenarios. he can recognise patterns well and so he does that, but with people, over and over and over. so much so that he doesn't even think about it now, doesn't really even realise what he doing.

he’s very capable, very good and smart socially, but it's to his detriment. it means no one really knows him. it means he doesn't really know himself.

it's like he's a little perfect puppet and when he's alone it feels like this freak monster comes out; with all these feelings and thoughts and emotions that he doesn't know what to do with, doesn't know if they're normal. and he doesn't know how to tell anyone about it either, how to express it or talk about in the right way.

because he's so so scared of being made fun of, or being alone; of being told off, or being weird. and sometimes it makes him so sad, because he doesn't always know how to stop - he's so quick to respond wth his scripts that he forgets to think about what he really thinks, really feels. and he can't stop.

to unmask, at times, most times, feels herculean - to show someone who you really are? that feels impossible. terrifying. to ask for time to think? to risk saying something wrong? being honest feels deeply unnatural somehow - to be honest about how he feels, what he thinks, what he needs. he just, he's never done that before...

so when he's navigating these people, these relationships he so so cares about. with Robin and Eddie and Dustin and Hopper, even.

this is the slew of feelings he has to wade through when trying to be close to them, to keep them, to do what they ask of him. this is what he has to work through. and sometimes, sometimes they act as if it's so easy. as if it is so easy to say the honest truth when asked 'what's up?' or 'what do you think?' or 'what do you want?'

that's not easy, its never been easy. and it makes him feel like a freak once he realises it should be.

I will give you a shiny quarter if you explain Morrowind to me like I’m five (pretty please)

its is quite difficult given i dont know how complex of topics 5 year olds can understand. but i can try to explain it in the most simple way possible because i explain it regularly to one of my roommates and wife who do not understand elder scrolls lore at all. be warned: this is still gonna be long and weird bc the story is long and weird.

(also excuse the swearing i wouldnt swear like this to a 5 year old)

a long long times ago, some 3000+ years before the game actually starts, there was a dude named nerevar. he made friends with some dwarves (dwemer) who lived underground and united the whole country of resdayn (later renamed to morrowind) to drive out the nords who had taken over. he also had a rly cool ring named moon-and-star, which was magic and let you be really persuasive, but he also enchanted it to kill anyone besides him wearing it so it couldnt be misused. this is relevant later

well he married the queen almalexia and made a big council of important people mostly made up of his buddies. he called it the first council and important people on it were his bestie voryn, his wife almalexia, and two younger friends sotha sil and vivec, along with the king of the dwemer dumac and dumac's mage kagrenac (the dwarves use weird magic with sound. if i go into details this will get very confusing).

for like 200 years because elves live for a long time, everything was pretty alright.

but it turns out the nords were there for a reason. they were looking for the heart of a dead god. the god's name for the sake of the story is lorkhan, but different places call him different things like shor or shezzar. the nords worshipped lorkhan and wanted to bring him back or something (probably, or at least just find it because hey thats their guy). but after 200 years of peace the dwemer found it underground in a volcano they lived in. and kagrenac had an Idea

the idea was to build a really cool really powerful giant robot mecha god (because the dwemer were really steampunk) to protect them. and it would be powered by the heart lorkhan.

voryn, nerevar's bestie, ended up finding out about this and told nerevar "hey the dwemer are up to something weird". and nerevar went "huh? they are?" and went to ask his goddess, azura, who knows a lot of things. azura said "yeah they are. stop them. what the fuck" and so nerevar went to his other bestie dumac.

and nerevar told dumac "hey why the fuck are you building a giant robot god?" and dumac's reply was "nerevar what the fuck are you talking about?" and nerevar, being mad his friend was Lying to him (maybe dumac didn't know. we dunno) because he already had multiple people confirm they were in fact doing that, he told dumac their friendship was over and kicked him off the first council and they went to war.

the details here get fuzzy. the nords showed up and joined in. the dwemer had steampunk robots everywhere. cat people showed up because why not. there were orcs there too. it was a big clusterfuck and there were different accounts of what happened. some people say voryn was fighting alongside the dwarves. some say he was fighting with the nords. some say he was fighting alongside nerevar. its hard to tell.

but most accounts have one thing kind of in common that a lot of the fandom agrees on: kagrenac grabbed their three cool tools to control the heart of a god, banged on it really hard, and then every single dwemer (except for one who was on holiday) vanished in an instant. and everyone was pretty confused by that, not really knowing what else to do. they now had a giant robot, the heart of a god, and 3 tools to wack the heart with to make weird shit happen.

so nerevar, unsure, said "hey voryn watch the tools for me." and left voryn with the tools and the heart. voryn said they should just destroy the tools, but nerevar wanted a few different opinions before just chucking them in lava or whatever. but while he was gone voryn started fucking around with the tools and the heart to see what would happen.

nerevar asked his buddies. almalexia, vivec, and sotha sil said they can use the tools to help resdayn/morrowind. nerevar didnt know if that was a good idea or not, so he asked azura. azura said "fuck no, dont ever do that". so nerevar made his friends pinkie promise him on azura's behalf not to use the tools on the heart.

and then again the accounts get weird here. some say nerevar died in battle against the dwarves/nords. some say voryn killed him. some say his friends (almalexia, vivec, and sotha sil) killed him. but regardless nerevar and voryn died. almalexia, sotha sil, and vivec had the tools. and they decided to use them on the heart and became gods.

this pissed azura off. they pinkie promised. what the fuck. so she made all the elves that lived there into dark elves. almalexia, sotha sil, and vivec became known as the tribunal and said "we dont need you anymore azura fuck off" and became living gods who could help their people and preform miracles! though they needed to take the tools up to red mountain and recharge their batteries on the heart regularly. azura tells them "nerevar will be back one day and beat all your asses" and made a whole prophecy about it called the nerevarine prophecy (reincarnations get the name+'ine' tacked on in the elder scrolls)

also the tribunal destroy voryn's house/family, the sixth great house of morrowind, house dagoth. just destroy it all. kill a bunch of ppl and the others kinda go somewhere else if they lived. because they sided with voryn or whatever and were deemed traitors

a bunch of other shit happens. septim empire rises to the throne. vivec trades the not working robot to tiber septim who makes it work with a bootleg wish version of the heart of a god and takes over. more time passes. its now the third era and its been 3500 years.

the protagonist is a prisoner who is released from their sentence in morrowind because the current emperor wants to use the prophecy to keep a better hold on morrowind politically. the protagonist was chosen because part of the prophecy is being born under a specific astrology sign and not knowing who your parents are. which could be anyone but y'know.

so the protag/nerevarine has to do a bunch of shit and finds out through weird dreams, oh hey, voryn's back. he's calling himself a god and dagoth ur now. asking nerevar to call him back, go grab the tools, and come meet him at red mountain. also maybe get married to or hook up with him or something. nerevarine thinks that's weird and ends up finding out dagoth ur has also unleashed a plague onto morrowind which turns you into scary eldritch monsters. and then one of dagoth ur's minions infects you with it.

nerevarine finds a cure which makes you not go insane and not turn into a big scary monster. but leaves all the cool shit of "you cant catch any other disease" and "you will never age". the never aging and getting diseases thing was also part of the prophecy. cool.

then the nerevarine needs to go to the nomadic ashlanders who live up north where theres a bunch of ash (hence the name) and worship azura (and the two other og gods) and ask all four tribes to name them nerevarine. they all think youre stupid because an outlander (someone not born and raised in morrowind) cant be the nerevarine. but you find an original copy of the prophecy and go "nuh-uh, i can be" and also go find the moon-and-star ring only nerevar can wear. then they go "well shit" and have you go a bunch of quests and then decide you're cool enough to be nerevarine.

then the nerevarine goes and convinces the three great houses you can talk to (the other two are on the mainland) to name you hortator, which is a war lord/classic roman definition of dictator, and it was the title nerevar had. you do some stuff, kill some guys, boom--named hortator.

then vivec hears about this and calls you in and says "well i guess you are the one doing the prophecy huh. look i need you to kill dagoth ur he's dangerous. here's our plan, are you in? i can give you one of the tools of kagrenac, you need to get the other two from dagoth ur's goons, and then kill dagoth ur's weird brothers he has put his power into. then bang on the heart with the tools and cut him off". vivec then teaches the nerevarine how to use the tools.

you can also just like. kill vivec and take the tool. you wont know how to use it tho and if you use it wrong you will take so much damage you die really fast. if you do this you can go to the only living dwarf who also has that disease but hasnt lost his mind and ask him how to use it and he'll be like "UHHHHHH i'll see what i can. fucking do i guess. i didnt make this." and he'll jerry rig it for you.

then you can kill voryn's brothers or not (you'll need to kill at least 2 for the other tools) and then march up to red mountain. dagoth ur will then be like "yo. are you really nerevar?" and you can say yeah or no or idk. and then have a conversation. and then you fight. but after you kill him he's not really dead, so you gotta run up and start wacking that heart while he yells at you to knock it the fuck off. and then he's cut off from the heart, you run away, and he falls in lava and dies.

and then azura shows up and goes "hey thanks man i have some other shit for you to do though". after which you can do some other content or play the dlc.

i could barely sleep so had to think abt tormenting datz like literalmente. imagine its a night out theyre hanginnnn theyre with their friendssss at the rebel sympathizer club. and theres this newish guy but hes been around for a while now so theyre chill. and he gets dhurke a glass of Drink and datz jokingly takes a swig of it first bc he is a menace...

And its fineeee for a while but maybe an hour passes and oh!dead datz. Well not dead but he passes out somewhere. oops! dead datz. kidnapped datz. goodbye datz. he wakes up tied up somewhere abd hes likeWHAT THE GODDAMN ... he was in comfy clothes so he doesnt have any of his usual rebel bullshit with him...no choice but to sit and wait...and try to figure out what happened and where he is

and then inga comes in and datz realizes it was a mole situation. Fuckkk. BUT WHEN? HELLO? datz never has his spirits broken so hes fine and mocks inga to his dumb beard face but inga sneers like oh its fine. we dont need your info anyway. we just wanted to give ya front row seats .. and datz is liek wtf are you talkin about. and ingas like. We got your mannnnnnn 🤪

datz runs cold then, smile knocked right off his face, like, what?! and ingas like yup we finally poached that annoying dragon!! we're gonna parade his corpse around the kingdom tomorrow and youre gonna watch!! Smiles. And leaves to go do inga bullshit. and datz is like ... ... ...W well thats. thats not true. Haha. Surely. Pfft. does he think im stupid?

but then thinking back... he realizes that wine mustve been poisoned, and even though datz did drink it before dhurke did, it was slow acting, so dhurke drank it too...but datz passed out first. which means he really doesnt have a clue if dburke is okay.

So its just him in this dinky room waiting the hours away...its not at all his first time with the secret police so even though he gets roughed up a bit when they come in, insisting dhurkes dead so he should give up and spill everything, he doesnt give in at all...the more they say hes dead, the less he believes it. still in the silence between those interrogations, doubt crawls in. because. like. what if he really...?

and they said oh we'll show you, we're parading it around town. you wanna see it? the corpse of your disgraced leader? thatll crush those delusions of revolution alright...! grabbing datz by the arms and hoisting him up and leading him all bruised and sore and hungover, out of that room... and datz thinks. surely he isnt dead. he cant be. but then where are they takin me?? they cant have a parade of nothing. so, do they have somethin' to show? ...is dhurke really...?!

but its not datzs first time. so in a split moment where the hold on his arm falters, he bucks and headbutts, frees himself, and runs off. escape king! slippery guy! he refuses to be led out by their design. he'll find the truth for himself! cackling mad and uh, panicking. and still tied up. he runs into the streets and escapes..

..there's no parading.

oh and then he gets grabbed into an alley with a hand over his mouth and hes like?!?! SCREAM only to get hushed- datz!! shut up do you want us to get killed!!! and it's, not dhurke but it is a rebel, like a friend, like someone he knows and trusts, and theyre like where did you go man?! dhurkes been freaking out all day! and... datz had been telling himself that dhurke was fine, no way he was actually hurt, but actually hearing that he's *fine* ... god he could drop dead of relief right then and there. but he cant. obviously. he has to see him!! he grabs the other dragon like where is- where's dhurke?!

that alley has its own manhole, so its not hard to return back to the dragons hq. theres plenty of other safehouses but dhurke's here, furiously texting (burner phone) to anyone he csn get his hands on, trying to find any trace of his right hand man that disappeared so suddenly ... only to look up and see a very familiar head popping out of the ground Yayyy

and dhurkes like Datz! and datz is like Me :D!! but inside his heart is singing, bc he knew it, he knew it!! dhurke couldnt get taken down so easily!! he nearly leaps into dhurkes arms, if not for The Bruises, and the rebel hes with explains how they found datz .. running through the streets like a madman (as always) and datz explains it. yup secret police. that one guys a mole Can we kill him. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY DHURKE ARE YOU..??? Bc the poisoning!! And!!

dhurke scratches his cheek like oh yeah i conked out. i slept like a rock. i should have known i wouldnt sleep that good unless something fishy wad going on. Did yousay they killed me

And datz is like, cackling and joking like always ... he spent all this time thinkin dhurke was dead but he was just a sleepy bear!! haha!! dhurke asks the other rebel to leave and spread word that datz is safe, though he'll be putting out his own message too. smiled. and once theyre alone datz stays silly ... but yuppp dhurke holds him close and checks over the bruises and most importantly makes sure hes Alright Emotionally. hello!!

Bc dhurkes already been through mock execution so he has no doubt they would have staged his own funeral just for the sake of crushing datzs spirit... they need 50cc of Holding gentle on a couch and also painkillers and also water

Me talking about the only Dinotrux episode that REALLY pissed me off & why i hate it

Dinotrux is really good at handling mature concepts. I was pleasantly surprised with it and i love it so, so, so much. As good as Dinotrux is at reflecting personal problems that the characters have, there is just this one episode, Sandstorm.

God, i hate it.

Never thought i would say that about a Dinotrux episode, but sweet jesus, this episode pissed me off. Now i'm not the type to explicitly slander or hate on something, especially if its about Dinotrux, so this is gonna be an honest review.

Problem 1: Dozer is NOT comfortable in the entire episode & no one cares

The first thing i noticed was that Dozer specifically wasnt comfortable with the idea of being in the garage for days. Everyone else was like "okay, we are gonna be locked in this house where we can barely drive a circle, with 4 dinotrux and 4 reptools, thats okay", but Dozer is not only not comfortable with that idea (and he seems to be the only one) he also distances himself from everyone, he mostly sleeps, he just wants to be alone. Its important to note that Dozeratops are naturally herd trux - so they usually live, sleep, eat and drive around in a group. Dozer shows multiple signs of being straight up uncomfortable. But NO. ONE. CARES!!! No one gives a shit and cant seem to regocnize some obvious signs, Ty doesnt even question anything...

WHEN DOZER LITERALLY ALMOST HAS A PANIC ATTACK!!!

Ty asks Dozer if he's okay, to wich Dozer wants to respond, but he literally starts panting and breathing heavily before actually responding, thats how stressed he is! Can you believe it!? Then he almost says his frustrations out, but Ton Ton interrupts them, Ty understands Dozer and he takes Ton Ton to play a game so that he leaves Dozer alone, but through the episode Ton Ton continues to annoy Dozer, and he is aware of it. Ton Ton knows that what he is doing annoys Dozer.

Problem 2: everyone blames Dozer for getting angry at Ton Ton, even though Ton Ton literally annoys Dozer thoughout the ENTIRE fucking episode

Now heres the most frustrating thing about this. Ton Ton is aware, but so is Dozer. Ton Ton knows that hes pissing Dozer off and he is pushing Dozers buttons of purpose. But Dozer is intelligent. He has at this point been working on his anger, and he almost lashes out to Ton Ton, TWICE, but keeps it in, because he knows everything will only get worse if he gets angry.

Dozer is actually such a saint. Being stuck with his friends in the garage, getting super uncomfortable and stressed, one person keeps pissing him off but no one cares, he is very stressed, almost has a panic attack and is straight up not comfortable but no one cares, keeps his anger (wich he already struggles with) in bc he knows itll only make things worse but no one cares, and when he finally does lash out... he gets blamed.

Seriously, i hated it. I hated it so fricking much. I hated how Ty didnt look at the meaning of the fight like he usually does, for context, Dozer eventually lashes out, looses his cool and attacks Ton Ton, they have a physical fight and Ty jumps in and pulls them apart. Now Ty knows Ton Ton has been getting on Dozers nerves, alright? He saw how annoyed Dozer was by Ton Ton.

And yet, he tells Dozer to back off.

Wow.

And one sequence later, after Dozer literally tries to escape the garage, Ty tells him: "Don't make me roar again."

TY, FUCK OFF. IF YOU ACTUALLY PAYED ATTENTION AND WERE ABLE TO NOTICE SOME OBVIOUS SIGNS THEN MAYBE YOU COULD HAVE PICKED UP ON THE FACT THAT TON TON WAS AN ANNOYING SHIT THAT KEPT PUSHING DOZER. TY I LOVE YOU BUT I HATED THIS WITH MY ALL.

3. Dozer isnt praised whatsoever for keeping his cool

This i dont just hate, i dont understand it. As i said Dozer has anger / agression problems for a long time now (Dozer is approximately 27 - 28). So being able to keep his cool like that twice is a great job. But yeah, i have to say it again, because it in fact does happen in this episode: NO. ONE. CARES.

4. It hits me on a personal level

In this episode i felt even more how Dozer feels. I strongly relate to Dozer. If u didnt know, i used to have anger and agression problems too, i was very explosive, and i have spent a long time in a center where no one listened to me, and if i lashed out and i got angry after trying to keep calm, i was blamed, i was locked up, and i was told to stop yelling, no one asked me if i was okay, i had no say about my care plan and i was just a kid. I think thats the biggest reason of my dislike for this episode - i know how Dozer feels, i know how it feels if no one, even your best friends, dont listen to you, how it feels if no one cares that you are clearly uncomfortable, stressed or scared. I know how that feels. I do.

And trust me when i say: It really hurts.

This episode overall just SUCKED. I felt terrible for Dozer throughout the whole thing. So yeah, this was my honest review of the only Dinotrux episode i truly hate ☹️ so yeah byeeee

i can confidently say, in my 6+ years of being a klance stan, i have never seen anything like this before or since. this fic is AMAZING. completely new idea, hilarious, sweet, and totally untouchable. i’ve always love testing fics that are done right (bc theyre always funny), and does this one ever knock it out of the park! the dynamics are amazing and the rivalry is EXQUISITE. bonus of vietnamese keith and filipino lance, and this one line (it’s a spoiler so im not going to put it here) that actually knocked me out of the water. its about the CHOICE.

this is one of the earliest vld fics ever written, and it has a CROWN idk. this fic makes me feel so many emotions all at once. like  i miss u 2016 fic i miss u keith gyeong i miss u bitchy klance i miss u early voltron found family dynamic i miss u old lance’s family headcanons i miss u bamf team. rip to the earliest voltron fandom (also. how did this author know about romelle. in 2016.)

i am so fucking in love with aus like this. cowboy or farmboy where theyre quietly in love in their own bubble of the world?? i cannot get enough of them. i would read a million of them. this fic in particular is SO soft and tender, it is so so important to me. ive read it so many times. its one of those fics that brings a smile to your face that u literally cannot fight back

Something that always sticks out to me in the book is that Ponyboy is religious and goes to church with Johnny (but then the gang RUINS that 😒😒) so perhaps some hcs for ponyboy going to church for the first time since that whole embarrassing moment anddd maybe curly is with him, hell maybe somehow curly the person to convince pony to go again? Idk I was thinking about this cause I'm in a church choir (just for their Christmas show, I've never even stepped foot in this church 😭😭) and it got me thinking. Also, i am putting pony in church choir and NO ONE can tell me otherwise (OOC? maybe. But let a girl dream)

dude i havent stepped into a church since i lost my 3ds in one, and ikkkk someone stole it but theyre going to hell for sure so its ok, im not religious but if i was thats the one thing im holding on for

•i hc that the shepards mom is super religious but she only actually goes to church for particular days, christmas eve, easter, yknow that kinda thing, and she drags her kids w her. now r the shepard kids religious???? some more a lil more than others depending on who ur asking, but curly specifically, least religious one, he just loves his mama and wants to hang w her, what a mamas boy that guy is

•pony was thinking of going back to church eventually, and curly knew pony used to go, so he just asked!! pony was hesitant bc he doesn’t have anything TO wear to church, but curly let him borrow some clothes from him and it took some more convincing bc if going to church w his gang was hell he could only imagine it w the shepard, but curly assured him they don’t do much

•of course johnny went a long way pony, johnny really had nothing better to do and he would go to church to get some food, johnny also didn’t have clothes and curlys clothes were NOT gonna fit him, so he just went w his normal outfit. curly said the people at the church don’t rlly mind WHAT u wear as long as ur there, so johnny didn’t feel as awkward about it for sure

•now the church wasn’t in a good condition like pony’s old church, it was in a basement (my old church was too lmaoooo) but pony’s not complaining, a church is a church in his eyes so it’s whatever, but one thing he made sure of when he was in there was that he was way from the shepards mom, tim, and angela for they scare him. semi thankfully tho, curly pulled pony and johnny to be in a different pew behind em, this is like the first time he’s actually been alright just being in a church and it’s bc he has friends!!!

•the pastor made pony and johnny stand up and introduce themselves bc they were new there, they were soooo uncomfortable curly knew that was gonna happen and didn’t warn em he wanted to see the color in their faces drain, pony said his name and they thought pony was trynna b funny, pony’s already wanting to run out the door

•when the service starts if u thought curly was gonna sit there and do nothing, ur wrong, ITS NOT BC PONYS THERE, curlys always acted up in church, pony being there just makes it worse, pony’s trying to pray and curlys whispering his name. doesn’t last for long tho bc tim turned around and smacked curly w a bible. pony would die to see that again btw

•pony’s not saying that the ppl at church can’t play their instruments well, it’s just WOW they’re passionate about it, pony respects the hustle cause the songs they sing r bangers, bonus points if curly gets to play an instrument and that’s y he wanted pony to come along

•that church service was long as shit, usually pony’s at church for 2 or 3 hours, but pony got there in the morning, and left at 5 god damn pm, his ass HURT, but aye,,, the food was worth it,,,pony and johnny got some leftovers plus some purse candy from aunties/grannies who went up to em after squeezing their faces

•at the end of it all, does pony go back to that church??? noooo not rlly, it’s not even a bad church, pony just can’t do a whole DAY of church, at some point he just wants to go home his social battery ain’t that good

THE LOVE TRIANGLE BETWEEEN JEAN, SCOTT, AND LOGAN IS RIDICULOUS.

Id imagine the comics probably go more in depth about Logans feelings, Jeans, and Scotts since its a thing happening since the beginning, and I havent read the comics so i cant fully comment on that since idk how fleshed out that whole thing is. I WILL SAY that i think it does bad to logans character bc i think it makes him seem creepy and weird towards jean sometimes when she explicitly says no. At least from the stuff ive seen.

SO BUT i will comment on the movies bc while i havent watched the 97 xmen and like i said havent read the comics either, i feel like the movies did such an extreme disservice to her. Her character is constantly described as super empathetic and caring and friendly, and yes shes supposed to be super mature and intelligent, but really i just got the intelligent part. I dont want to use the word "bitch" to describe her bc her charater analysis goes deeper than that but anyway. She just seems cold and serious. Ororo takes up the whole "super kind and nuturing lady" who she is but anyway.

When it comes to jean and logan interacting they barely have any type of convo or connection that I felt like worth the drama between them. You can always aknwoledge that more theres background knowledge that you dont see in the movie. Logan flirts with jean (alright shes pretty so hes just gonna be flirty) and she immediately gets irritated (pushes him in the xray). Should tell you no, shes not interested. Then later she shows him his bedroom, he flirts again, and she immediately shuts him down by mentioning scott- but then she goes to look at his memories and honestly the moment becomes super intimate. Very random. But i guess if you were looking into someomes traumatic pass youd get intimate too.

Honestly you dont really see much happen between them after. They fight magneto, logan saves the day AND THEN when jeans checking ovee logan in the x mansion and shes all like "rogues smitten with you for saving her" and logan says well she better move past it "my heart belongs to someone else" AND LOOK ITS A SUPER SWEET LINE BUT WHAT?? HOW CAAN YOU SAY THAT YALL BARELY HAD A CONVO???? Now you could say that my thinking from the post this all came from could connect that logan knows when hes got feelings for someone and maybe he feels them strongly but HONESTLY i could not see any connection between them. Logan spends more time being concerned over rogue, and his own past and youre gonna suddenly imply hes in love with her AFTER A WEEK?? No. I love a good love story but this aint it. Give me something between jean and scott that shows the stuff their relationship endures together and how much they love each other. Let logan figure his life out.

Thats when the next movies get super frustrating. In X2 jean is so mean to logan. First she acts so flirty towards him and gets his hopes up. Then when he tells her he likes her and he kisses her she LETS HIM and i honestly cant decide if she did it because she felt bad for him or if she did it bc she was truly interested. She tells logan girls flirt with the dangerous girl but they marry the good guy. The guy you can bring home to your parents. When logan suggests he could be the good guy (so sweetly) she says the good guy STAYS. Impying shes angry at him for leaving to go figure out what happened at lake akali?? Also implying maybe something couldve happpened between them if he did stay even though her and scott are still a thing?? Hello?? There could be several ways to decipher this but since this is going on long enough im not gonna add those.

I think if jean did have any feelings for logan, its as she puts it. Maybe hes dangerous and new, and that gives her some sort of excitement. She grew up in suburban middle class neighborhood. Got powers and went to a super school. She got with scott and her life was pretty set. Maybe logan gave her some excitement? She liked the attention from him but knew it was wrong? Idk. In the end though she knew she would pick scott. Perhaps jean was having complicated feelings for logan? If she was, that wass the only time you truly saw ANY sign of it. It felt more like she was leading him on, and then shutting him down quickly. And to her credit she did always shut him down in the end (when shes not possessed)

Im gonna add i dont think logan is fully innocent either. He pushes himself onto a woman who maybe she was giving him mixed signals but she still is commited to another guy (who was also missimg in most of the x2 movie??) Logan should have respected the boundaries but i suppose feelings esp romantic can be hard to deal with. While logan and scott had their qualms i think logan did have respect for scott in someway.

(Dont get me started on how they butchered my boy scotty in these movies btw. They gave him NO screentime)

So thrn the rest of the movie goes on and jean dies (death #1) and obvs everyones devestated. When x3 goes on logan doesnt seem all that upset. Scott was rightfully grief stricken. You could say that logan maybe pushed that stuff away, the grief and sadness, or mayb hes so used to it he can move on. He tells scott she wouldve want him to move on. (Sorry lo but he JUST lost his gf/fiance??)

When jean comes back and kills scott and logan and ororo find her, jean then comes on to logan and they have that intense makeout session EXCEPT it isnt jean its the phoenix, and idk much about the phoenix but its possible that it was displaying jeanss inner emotions and its described that her emotions when charles met her was powerful and sporadic. Jean wass literally about to kill logan the way she did scott and I think logan sensed something and thats why he stopped, he remembered scott and asked where he was, and to logans credit i think he knew jean wouldnt have really wanted that.

The rest of the movie happens and logan ends up killing her after they lose charles. He tells her he loves her. Bro, you knew her for maybe 1 week, left for idk how long a month? Came back and knew her for a couple more days- KISSED HER- she told you no anyway, she dies, comes back, and now you tell her just as shes having a full power break down being posessed by some immortal space bird that you love her? I mean, do you even know her favorite color?

I feel like their whole "love story" (both comics and movies) is some sloppy attempt to have romance and drama and to make logan seem more complicaated and add to his personal struggle (as if he isnt complicated enough) if youre going to do a love triangle, actually build up a relationship between people bc tbh we barely saw scott and jeans relationship either. If you want logan to have romance try Ororo (which FINALLY is happening btw). I mean, im always open for logan romance but i suppose storm deserves a chance.

I mean maybe its me, maybe im just a sucker for true love, a building of friendship/relationship first before finally realizing that you love them (or been in love from the start). There was no romantic devlopement of any sort and honestly any feelings logan and jean may have for each seemed more physical than anything else. I could prob write an essay about how wrong it all was, how it destroyed jeans character by forcing logan on her and making her seem like she was into it and made logan look pushy and disrespectful.

I dont mean to slander jeans character so hard. I think her character when done right is actually wonderful (and honestly someone i could relate too) but the movies didnt do right by her. Jean and scott didnt get very good development the way storm and logan did and honestly logan is the top contender in character development against everyone.

So yes thats my essay im sure you werent expecting me to answer all this but I REALLY wanted to get this out there. Its just my lil thinking about thesee movies

okay so. my opinions on their eyes were watching discourse that i disagree w. here goes english class essay on tumblr

starting w quickly one of the worst complaints ive ever heard, "its written in backwoods, uneducated, slave talk" "it portrays african americans as uneducated and lower class." dear lord. yes the book is written in heavy southern dialect or avve or both bc theyre basically the same thing, but it adds a lot to the book as far as im concerned. if i as a foreigner can manage to read it just fine and enjoy it, im sure you can deal w it. if i could read this when i was like 16 and had only been speaking english for 6 years rly, im sure u can cope. hurston was also an anthropologist who predominantly studied southern and carribean african diaspora, and thus her writing is heavily based on this. she also,,, was born in alabama and raised in florida, and thus, she was trying to portay not "those backwards rural folk over there" but her own people. and you can tell too, in the book, she was also trying to find and understand herself. others have called their eyes were watching god a brilliant capturing of the soul and culture of southern black ppl, and uhhH yea, id tend to agree. the fact she focused on rural peoples doesnt somehow mean she was saying all of the african diaspora is like this, and also...... .. theres nothing wrong with "uneducated" "backwoods" poor and rural people god damn get the classism out of here

but onto the main shit

a) its a grand love story love life goals. + her relationship w tea cake is feminist goals somehow

uhh,,, not quite, not as simple as that. even the summary of the book, along w many other summeries in some versions, calls it "an enduring southern love story" and to an extent it is, but also, its far from,,, something to be glorified too much. especially not as other book summaries say, "tea cake comes along and is the best thing ever a liberator etc etc"

its true that thats part of it. hurston from what i know said she wrote the book almost as a love ode to a man she fell in love with when she was in haiti, and it shows for sure. but tea cake, and his relationship with janie, isnt without problems. after they get married he steals her money, uses it to "feel like a rich man," to buy food and drinks for ppl, to buy a guitar, to party, leaving her alone for days while she wonders if he aint dead, or if he hasnt stolen her money and left her, used her - she's struggling, in pain, anxious through the roof, he finds her sitting on the floor staring into nothing when he come back. and sure, he apologizes, he explains himself with charm and humor, says he couldn't help but want to know, says he didnt wanna bring her around lower class folks out of fear she wouldnt like it - and when she tells him she'd want to be there, after that, he does always bring her w him and doesnt exclude her. he gambles the money back and comes back stabbed, bleeding, but keeping his word, "look in mah left pocket and see whut yo' daddy brought youh. when ah tell yuh ah'm gointuh bring it, ah don't lie." its playful, charming, you get drawn into his shpeel, and i think anyone whose ever had a habit of falling in love w,, , how to say, those rough around the edges, those w street smarts, can say yea, theres a charm to it. he tells her after, from that point on, they're going to be living on his money, that he's a man and thus he's gonna provide - and in truth he never steals her money again, never uses her money again despite her having it, and while she works at times, he also works more than her, and its clear hes okay w sticking by his word of providing.,, and janie forgives him for this ordeal, sure. at the same time,,, it could be said its a red flag and that yup, he stole her money once right after they got married and left her feeling bad for days, which aint alright

next, the domestic violence between them, and the jealousy too, which the book at times romanticized and portrays as normal. theres several instances of this throughout. janie talks about how he strikes her on multiple occasions, but also how she strikes him. she talks abt finding out theres consequences for trying to fight him, which is getting beat. when she gets jealous and thinks he might be sleeping w another woman, she slaps him and they fight from room to room, him trying to keep her from beating him, that time not beating her and ending up w them having sex. another time when tea cake gets jealous that a woman is trying to set her brother up w janie, even tho he knows she aint gonna leave him or cheat on him, he beats her just to show that he possesses her, owns her. he knows shes done nothing to justify the jealousy, but does it anyhow. "no brutal beating at all. he just slapped her around a bit to show he was boss. everybody talked about it next day in the fields. it aroused a sort of envy in both men and women. the way he petted and pampered her as if those two or three face slaps had nearly killed her made the women see visions and the helpless way she hung on him made men dream dreams." this line v much shows the romantization and normalization of domestic abuse. and then, tea cake goes on to talk to the other men about it, to brag about it, to talk about how bc his wife is mixed and lighter skinned you can see the marks and bruises a beating leaves on her. the other men say beating on darker black women aint the same, bc noone can tell the next day you beat them, and because they will fight you back and beat you back all night, but janie seems to just take it obediently (not exactly true in all instances, she does fight back and beat him at times) and u can see it on her skin. tea cake brags to the other men that thats why he likes his wife, and that she is wherever and however he wants her to be........ which is something janies previous husband joe said too :/ except janie seems to accept and romanticise this, while having an issue w her previous husband, when in many regards tea cake and joe are doing the same thing.

and this takes us to,, well, tea cake aint exactly a "liberator" and their relationship isnt feminism 101. its just not. yes, tea cake in a sense liberates her. he reminds her of the boy she had a crush on as a teenage girl and the bees in the bloosoming tree. he unlike her previous husbands lets her.. be. he teachers her how to play board games, teacher her how to shoot a gun, goes fishing with her, takes her to games and dances she wasnt allowed to go to before. hes proud of her for shooting better than him, and he never once tells her to shut up around pll like joe does. when shes with him she talks to other ppl, shes finally involved in community life like how she wished. they spend nights on the muck dancing, singing, gambeling, joking and talking w other people, joining the carribean dancers around the fire. its clear in a sense that throughout the progression of her marriages, janie ends up w a man who Does in some regards represent and give her freedom, and who is also much closer to lets say, an african spirit and traditions than the previous two, especially joe. janie says, tea cake made her soul come out of its hiding place, and he did.

but he also..,,, was a man of the times, and they were both people of the times. and while tea cake saw her as much more an equal than her other husbands ever did, he was also clearly in charge and their marriage was still following a series of traditional norms

janie is still in many regards submissive to him, and "like a child." despite her being older than him, he calls her a girl child, a baby girl, a little thing, makes several statements and allusions to this sort of thing a lot. he calls himself her daddy, he holds up the idea that a man ought to provide for "his woman" and take care of her. she wears blue like a young gal bc tea cake says it looks good on her. and still, yea, this isnt a one way thing in their relationship, bc janie also, especially when hes sick or wounded, calls him a boy, a boy chile, her baby, mamas him etc. and theres many times when hes all too happy to try to fulfill her wishes and needs and do what she wants. and yea, its part of how love makes you feel young, its part too of how some ppl search for that sort of parental care in their partners, especially those who havent had it much (like janie, who grew up without a father.) still, this is mostly seen the other way in their relationship

and here its important to take into account janies history of trauma and how she was raised. she was raised by her grandma, who was born a slave and raped by a white master, which is how she got her mom. her mom in turn was raped, and thats how she got janie. there is a deep history here of violence and submission - her grandma even tells her, the black woman is made the mule of the world by both white and blacl men. janie is also used to being struck by her grandmother as a child, thus, to her being hit is normalized, a part of life, and even a sign that someone cares about you a lot - loves you enough to beat you for your own good. janie is married off to a man x2 x3 times her age at 16 by her grandma, and shes expected to settle bc shes not being beat, shes not being worked too hard, and the mans got property. janie struggles throughout her entire life with the lessons and morality her grandma taught her, and her marriages taught her, even saying at some point she hates her grandma for it.... janie has been conditioned throughout her life to be submissive, and to accept violence, and while she definetely has a fighting spirit and craves more than shes told to settle for, while she certainly stands up to wanting a certain amount of independence, shes also... bound by her times, by her conditioning, and this has limits for sure.

and thus we see her submission in her marriage w tea cake, even as he gives her more freedom than others - even that phrasing, he "gives" her freedom, but really, it aint his to give is it...? not only does she forgive him for the money steling, and for the beatings, but its also shown regularly that shed much rather follow his lead w things. in many regards, shes the one that asks and does - they go where tea cake wants to go, they do what tea cake wants to do. hes the one that chooses where they get married, hes the one that chooses to go work on the muck, hes the one that tells her to come work the fields w him, and hes the one that tells her to stay home and not work... after the hurricane she tells him again, well do and go where u wanna go. and while she goes along w it, while she says well do whatever u wanna do,,,, shes still following his lead by all means. shes been sweeped off of her feet like a child, and in many regards shes following his lead, and its known that hes the boss. more equal than her other marriages, but, still

.... and so. its complicated. it sure as hell aint a relationship which is "feminist" or "liberating" in a feminist sense or a modern sense..... and yet. it would be unfair to say, it also didn't liberate her soul somewhat, and they didnt love each other

b) and this takes us to the second critique i dont agree w, that the book is outright bad bc it promotes and romanticizes violence and all this. and also its definetely not a love story at all

,,, and. yea i dont think this is a fair critique at all. i think its up to you to interpret zora's writing and what it means to you. she clearly had more than just a one sided puritanical moralistic view and feeling on all this, and yes, she wrote this book in part infleunced by a whirwind romance she had in haiti and im sure to a great extent her own life experiences. she also wrote this book in the the 1930s. there is something deeply deeply honest, raw, real, and soulful about it because of this, it is complicated in the way real life is

no, janie isnt some sort of modern day "feminist" protagonist but also. she wasnt meant to be, she just wasnt i dont think

and i dont think its,,,, fair, to dismiss this entire book and all the brilliance in it bc of that.,, or to say that they didnt love each other either. it was far from perfect thats for sure. and i do really get why some would look at all this and say yea, this isnt love. i do... but i think its more complicated that that. and i think in many ways, it is a story of people and love in the context of the, well, limitations of who they are. in the context of deep deep generation and current trauma, in the context of the times, in the context of a lot of things..... and ive said this before, to me its in many ways the same sort of conflict i had when writing that ethnography on my grand grandma and grandpa, child marriage bridal kidnapping and all that, and trying to make some sense of what love and marriage mean in circumstances like that. and i could not reach a conclusion which simply said, they never loved each other. i just couldn't no matter how much i wanted to, bc, despite how fucked it all was, that wouldnt have been the true, messy complexity of it all....... tea cake did love her, he did bring her to life, he did cherish her, he did protect her, he did see her as more his equal than other men - he risked his life for her and died for it. he was also possessive, and jealous, and physically abusive. and she beat on him too.

........ and on the ending of the book, it can be interpreted in different ways for sure. tea cake's death and the way he dies could be interpreted in many ways. it was rabies that took him, and rabies is why janie had to shoot him, but the rabies made the jealousy he had before and the violence he had before come out to a stronger extent. in a way it could be said zora ending the story w tea cakes rabies being the final issue relieves him too much of his responsibility and actions, gives janie a "justified" retaliation and end... zora also v much shows how the other black ppl shed been living w largely turned on her when she shot him, caring more for him they did her. surprisingly janie talks about how some of the white women in the courtroom pitied her and "formed a protective shield around her", while her own turned their backs on her..she hears the men say, "well, you know whut dey say, 'uh white man and uh nigger woman is de freest thing on earth'. dey do as dey please." even if soon they forgive her and feel bad for their turning on her and her treatment of her and come to their senses. and thus, were also reminded that the book is Indeed very vocal of black mens views and treatment of black women, (as well as on how colorism affects things but thsts a whole other long train of analysis) and that zora wasnt just saying and showing that all this is a-okay. she wasnt saying that the other men were all good all fine, she wasnt saying that tea cake was either

.. and as for janie coming back home. welp. i think it can be interpreted again in many ways. some say it shows she had to kill tea cake in order to truly gain her freedom, it was the final step in her coming to self and self actualization, and that the ending of the book is "feminist" in this regard. others say the ending is the ending of a great love story, with janie coming home now with her soul alive, having seen the world as she says, to rest and be at peace. she sobs of what has happened, and yet she realizes tea cake lives still in her love. a beautiful metaphor of how the dead live through the love of the living. his memory lightens up the room like a sun, she draws the fishnet of his light and love and freedom over her, she calls her soul to see.... she has also learned from tea cake in part to not care what others say, so she doesnt care that the town women want to talk shit about her.. others say, the ending of the book is a feminist disaster. it shows janie giving up control over her narrative by not caring what the other women are saying about her. it shows her shutting herself into her old house with memories of a man who really, wasnt all that great. others say, its not a feminist disaster bc while the ending means the above, in zora writing it even beautifying, were still meant to critique it

honestly by this point, not quite sure i know. id say its neither and all three all in one bc its way more complicated than just "a feminist or not feminist message" "a role model message" ,,,, but rather, something deeply real and complicated...

either way. im sure i could say more but thats most of my thoughts. i think its a pity to diminish this book either to some grand perfect love story, or to failed feminism, or whatever else. its so much more..... it is a book about deep deep trauma and pain, slavery, culture, humor, coming of age, soul, love, hope, hate, racism, colorism, women and men, religion, and beauty.... and id say, most all really, it is a story about how beauty somehow comes out of deep sorrow and pain.... reducing it into bits is a pity and disservice to its sheer raw and real spirit

So its a Thursday evening and im trying to catch up on the master-chef episodes I missed while I was fighting that bird braid Zykoz. Trust me with a name like that you would think he’s the villain. Unfortunately for him I’m good at getting away with the loot unlike some of the want-to-be’s in this city, but anyways I’m in my house on the hill minding my business and someone is tripping all the sensors in my alarm system which normally i wouldn’t worry about because I have measures in place to ensure the average human doesn’t make it up the hill but whoever was tripping these alarms wasn’t human at least not traditionally. Not many people survive both a chemical bath and a lethal laser show. So obviously I’m watching the cameras to see how much of a threat this guy really is but the security measures are creating so much spray and debris I cant see anything so I go back to watching master-chef because anyone who makes it to my front door deserves to come inside.

Five minutes into the next episode and guess who’s knocking at my door.

Fucking. Zykoz….

Now I know what I said earlier about whoever makes it here deserves to come in but what i meant by that was anyone but him.

I open the door and he looks terrible. I mean the suit is falling to pieces he’s covered in blood he’s definitely been beat up bc no way did my countermeasures do all this.

“It looks like you’ve gone on and met your match, ya’know I told you we shouldn’t see other people but nooo. You just had to go and save everyone from any and everything and now your at MY door expecting me to let you in like some pitiful lost puppy.”

He grumbles something under his breath but the only words that actually left his mouth were “didn’t know where else to go.” before he passed out in the doorway. I definitely wasn’t dragging his muscular ass into my house on my own so I had my robotic minions do it for me.

After about 2 hours of staring at him completely unconscious in my living room I decided to pour a bucket of freezing cold water on him which ruins my suede couch but I could acquire another one by tomorrow so I’m less worried about that, but hey at least he’s awake now.

“So you wanna tell me what all this is about?”

“Its all a bit cloudy but I remember being at this charity gala thing when I was told that somebody tripped the alarm in the Hazman Tech building so I went to check it out. When I got there I was blasted with a Raygun. I didn’t go down of course but they weren’t after the gun itself. After blasting me with it a couple more times they ripped what looked to be a purple jewel out of the center and places it into a item of their own and let me tell you it hurt way worse than that raygun did. The first blast from that thing sent me out the building and into the harbor. I woke up on an embankment and afterwards I crawled to your lair.”

“So you didn’t even go and see if he left the building?”

“Of course not.”

Honestly I am truly appalled that The Zykoz wouldn’t run back into the building to kick someone’s ass to get even but I guess that goes to show just how powerful that thing is. Wait a minute.

“You know its not a raygun right?”

“No it is definitely a raygun it shot a ray so its a raygun,”

“Thats not how it works.”

“Oh yeah you explain it then”

"In a literal sense if it were a ray gun you would have never seen it. A raygun beam will travel faster than the speed of light meaning it's invisible because color is just a reflection of light right so the name Raygun isn't even appropriate.

What you were hit with sounds more like a plasma ray which explains the burns and cuts you have on you. The big question is that crystal. What is it? Where did it come from? And how exactly can it be used?"

Zykoz opens his mouth to speak but is silenced by a knock on the door. We both turn to look at each other as if we were expecting company a clueless expression on both our faces.

"Alright big guy see who it is."

"What why me?'

"Because your plasma proof and I don't plan on dying today."

Zykoz limps over and peeks through the peep hole while I think about this unwarranted visitor.

"Hey did you order pizza while I was sleep?" He blurts while staring back at me from the door

“Wait? How the hell did he get past the security measures?”

You, a supervillain, answer a knock at your door, only to find your superhero nemesis shivering, bleeding, scared, and slightly dazed (as if drugged). They appear to have been assaulted. The hero mumbles “…didn’t know where else to go…” before collapsing into your arms.

Horikshi somehow managed to make mha more homophobic and worse than other shounens, its honestly impressive in a way. People often criticize shows like Naruto or Bleach but I dont remember those shows killing off queer characters to use them as tools to further a straight ship. I dont remember narrative shitting on Sasuke's character the way horikoshi treated Bakugo's character by leaving him like a doormat. All those talks abt Horikoshi supposedly being different and progressive for years went nowhere as he turned out to be shittier than even other shonen authors.

I mean, he just made Sasuke straight and told us to understand he is the happiest with a woman, I guess, so idk how thats not homophobic in comparison -im not saying it is directly; but I dont see how that would be better. I would have hated it if Katsuki was made to be with a woman or even giving advice to date one, tbh. There are multiple tropes that could be discussed in these conversations like the difference between bury your gays, queer coding and queer baiting, idk much about Naruto but I think it could fit the last category, as in the anime they added a kiss for fan service; I think in BNHA we have a clear use of bury your gays and queer coding or queer subtext.

The themes of BNHA are progressive, which is why it speaks to us -and we cant just say he is homophobic or directly conservative just bc of 431. While yeah the treatment of the villains was really, really disappointing, and unfair considering the themes, I dont think it means this is good -tbh it felt more like he wanted to give it a bittersweet type of ending in a harsh way, as the characters are not happy with this situation. On another hand, Katsuki's treatment was strange, but he is also a character he uses to break the 4th wall many times in the series, so to make him smile and be happy in 431 would feel unnatural to who he is; he is the one telling us "hey things arent all happy and alright, the protagonist isnt satisfied with this kind of life", and that could be interesting if they actually planned to expand on it. His feelings are so different from 430, that it cant leave us feeling like things are okay even if the extra happened. Or at least I like to see it that way!

But we cant accuse him of being directly homophobic for not making Katsuki straight -he is queer coded at least from my perspective, and we know he wasn't "punished" for 431 (if they wanted to punish him, the previous chapters dont give that impression, making him all cool and sympathetic; the best way to do it would be to just make him regress into being an asshole and unhappy in my opinion). We already know their bond is way stronger than izuku's and ochako's, there's this post unrelated to this but which discusses how in Japanese language you dont have to reaffirm bonds and feelings as it depends on context clues, the history between the characters, etc, and it makes me wonder if maybe thats just what happened -we already know they are the closest to each other, and in fact had it spelled out multiple times thru the series, while izuku and ochako dont really have much developed in their friendship. Making them not really talk in 8 years is also an interesting choice -kinda means this is the only way they could make these characters have a "moment" together. If they kept talking like previously, there would be no scene like this, bc they would be good friends -so, if they really wanted to make this homophobic, making this clearly romantic + bkdk not interact in any meaningful way was one of the ways to go. However, instead, we have the confirmation that Katsuki does yearn for Izuku and worries about him, and that Izuku is clueless to these feelings while he also wants to improve the communication between them.

we start with a party scene. drinks are out. people are dancing. these dancers are getting their money's worth. nick is host.

a cast off party. why are we throwing a party for this man. WHO ARE ALL OF EXTRA PEOPLE?????? and why does someone need a party for taking off a cast? okay

nick says he was not apart of it. and the gag is, he wasn't. mac gets loud and day appears. mac goes for a punch and gets pulled back by the chain. mac tells itt to help him. nick is like...well uh, you were being rude, gets pulled back by neil.

mac says he wants to go home. nan ask whats bad about his house. well, errr, huh. nan drags mac off. now everyone calms down day bc day is on 10.

also none in the club question this and get back to partying. so okay.

again, why does none have a poker face.

they all day the least they can about that. nick says he brought the models and dj for a nice price. neil said it was for him. neil isn't wrong. lmao.

yes nick. nick gets on stage with a dancer. and day says he never thought neil would get with someone like nick. but neil says he understands him. also we get nick lore drop. the son of a mistress, he wants to be loved so he acts out and thats why he makes neil jealous.

their story could be so cute. if i didn't know what i know.

neil goes to get his man. the couples are starting to couple.

night makes itt make day smile.

alright, time for us to couple. the music slowed down and the dancers are getting soft and sexy.

day asking for p'nam's cake, him telling day he was lonely. telling day to come back and tell him what to do(!!), i think from various times and when he was in the coma but it's all itt needing him

gets a bad enough headache/pain that he wakes up itt. itt ask whats wrong and he says headache and itt DIVES off the bed to get him medicine and day tells him to be careful

but he really dove off the bed

itt ask where the headache came from and day said forget it. he doesn't want to admit.

day lays back down and i still say you can STILL tip him over

while laying down, we get this memory/flash back of day, itt and itt's nephew salmon having a cut little moment. its cute and lee long shi's nipples were cold that day.

cut to downstairs, night, day, gear and itt at the breakfast table. day ask who salmon is. he's told it's itt's nephew. he gets told he was close to salmon and they video chatted a lot. itt ask him to pretend like he knows who salmon is for a video call.

itt tells him he's very important to salmon and the music changes

they brush it off. another headache. nan tells itt to call him for anything, unless it's about him. and i don't know if he means him as in day or him as in mac. but since itt replies with i hope you know what you're doing, i'm thinking mac? could be both. i wouldn't want either of those issues.

nick tells day to take care of it. and yes! neil, don't pull him back. take care of itt.

we're at home and itt is curled on the bed. no covers. ugh. day takes him up, time for medicine. then bed time. day is gonna take care of him and itt is too over the moon. stand up. but i'll let my boy have this.
