If you bring Sten with you to the Denerim market and get his comment about the children running around you can later ask him about it, which eventually leads to him telling you that Qunari parents don't raise their kids, and if you ask him about that he'll tell you that being raised by your parents clearly didn't work for you. The issue with that: I'm playing a mage. Tahel wasn't raised by his parents! In fact all things considered Circle mages and children given to the Chantry like Alistair are probably the closest Chantry land equivalents to being raised by tamassrans! And being raised in that environment is terrible for every character we see who was (Wynne, Alistair, and potentially the Warden). Tahel likely would've ended up considerably less messed up if his parents had raised him. It's definitely an oversight that you can't point that out to Sten.
