guys. guys. you DO get that remus is a plot device right? his role in the books is like mentoring harry for the duration of 1 (one) book, introducing sirius, being the reason why the other marauders were animagi. jkr had no idea of what to do with him after book 5 and that's partially why remadora happened. the reason why he's not on gof (helping harry, housing sirius or whatever) is because there was no space for him in that book. sirius and moody are the mentors now, those are roles to be filled and he already played his part. he is given no part on the next books, besides having a son and dying to show that war orphans are a thing or whatever (as if harry himself didn't exist), despite that fact that he'd be the best person to help harry process his grief after sirius died. hold him responsible for his mistakes, sure, interesting characters have to be flawed but have the decency to acknowledge when your issue is just a) narrative convention b) jkr being a bad writer which makes up about 70% of the issues in the last three books

Wolfstar and Anti-Wolfstar
So, as promised, I'm gonna get on everyone's bad side now:
The Wolfstar Fandom
I totally get why people who don't like the ship are annoyed with how popular it is. I am a wolfstar shipper and let me tell you something: I, too, am annoyed. Because part of the Wolfstar fandom seems to think that James and Sirius's friendship cannot coexist with romantic Wolfstar, so they play it down. Suddenly, Remus is Sirius's go-to person, suddenly Remus is the one who gets Sirius like no other, and Sirius runs to Remus when he runs away from his parents. James is reduced to some comedic side character without real importance next to the soulmates Remus and Sirius. (And James and Remus's friendship also gets played down). That massively annoys me because one of the reasons I love Wolfstar so much is that I feel it only adds to the love between the Marauders without taking anything away from James and Sirius, because they're up there anyhow, untouchable. So don't you dare touch them!
Besides, I don't think it's necessary, because romantic Jily can also coexist with James and Sirius being the closest of friends.
The Anti-Wolfstar Fandom
So I get all the frustration and the anti-Wolfstar posts (not talking about the latest post I engaged with though, that didn't feel all that anti), and that's fine. You don't have to like the ship. But I draw the line where the hate for the ship seeps into the depiction of their platonic friendship.
We don't have to argue about James and Sirius being the bestest of friends. But I feel that Wolfstar being so popular, and playing down James and Sirius's friendship, led to the anti parts of the fandom playing down Remus and Sirius's friendship - as some sort of counter reaction. Like now there's some resentment for Remus's character.
Remus and Sirius were close friends as teenagers and this is a hill I will die on (Remus and James were too, but this is about anti-Wolfstar, so I'm going to focus on Remus and Sirius). I really don't get how people can think otherwise. We got 'Snape's Worst Memory' and the information about the prank, and that's apparently enough to convince people they weren't really close as teenagers because how could Sirius have done that if they were?
Well... Sirius being dismissive of other people's emotions isn't reserved for Remus. He does it with James with that sarcastic remark after Lily turned him down before a bunch of bystanders, which James clearly hadn't taken well ('Reading between the lines I'd say she thinks you're a little conceited, mate'). He does it with Harry ('Personally, I'd have welcomed a dementor attack.'), he can even be deliberately mean to Harry ('You're less like your father than I thought'). Yet we don't see anybody questioning his devotion to Harry (obviously Harry was more important to him than Remus, we don't have to argue about that).
The truth is, both the prank and Sirius's 'I'm bored... wish it was full moon' are objectively insensitive. But the prank wasn't a big deal in canon and I think we're supposed to think the full moons, too, weren't - at least after they had become Animagi. Because Remus himself says in PoA his transformations were 'the best times of his life' (I'm not completely buying that but I think it's how he sold it, being so grateful that his friends had become Animagi for him and that he had stopped hurting himself at least). They planned 'next month's adventure' and so on. So I think Remus acted as if everything was fine in regards to the full moons (and his 'You might' was some passive-aggressive comment referring to the prank rather than the full moons in general). I really think we put too much weight on both of those things. But it doesn't really matter anyhow, because:
In PoA, they - Remus and Sirius - show such a deep level of trust and respect for one another that it's obvious they had to have been close friends as teenagers (not as close as James and Sirius though before someone thinks I'm implying that. I'm not).
Because where is this supposed to have come from? They didn't see each other for over twelve years (and before that Sirius thought Remus was a spy ready to sell out James). Yet Sirius lets himself be swayed by Remus not to kill Peter, although up to this point he had acted like the mad mass murderer he allegedly was. I've laid this all out before, so I'm not gonna repeat all the details, but he allowed Remus to take the lead, they checked for each other's reactions, they communicated nonverbally. And that's all true whether you see romantic Wolfstar or not. This is because they have some base with each other already, something they had built before Sirius's imprisonment. To me, this means they have to have been close at some point before.
Being close is always a matter of definition, of course. If you claim someone has to know everything there is to know about a person to be considered close to them, then, arguably, they weren't close. That's not my understanding, though
Do I think Sirius sobbed his heart out on Remus's shoulder about what happened at his parents' house? No. Definitely not. Do I think Remus opened up about how he really felt about his lycanthropy? No. Do I think Sirius - and to some extent James too, tormenting Snape after the prank had happened - were dismissive of Remus's emotions? Yes.
But I don't think that means they weren't close. They obviously cared for one another (becoming Animagi?), they cared for each other's opinion (Sirius listening to Remus in PoA and Remus having the power to make Sirius and James feel ashamed of themselves as teenagers already when they were both headstrong and arrogant - I think that's a huge deal).
To be honest I don't get the urge to rank their friendships and compare them all the time. I mean, I see where it's coming from with part of the wolfstar fandom being delusional - defending James and Sirius's friendship in turn, pulling up evidence why the two are the real deal. And I agree. But people are capable of having more than one close friend and friendships evolve with time.

Not really an anti thing per se, but something I feel the need to vent about:
One of the reasons I feel so conflicted on the Harry Potter thing is not only my concerns about continuing to give Rowling a platform, but also just, unpopular opinion, I… kinda think the fandom can be almost as performative as the haters?
I KNOW HOW THAT SOUNDS BUT HEAR ME OUT!
First off: they’re always going on about how "oh, we’re making ALL the hp characters trans to piss off the TERF!" and then you look at the fics and art and stuff and it’s like, at least 80-90% is just the same cookie cutter "Draco and Harry are gay trans men who make out 24/7 and there's some trans gay WolfStar in the background too, I guess, and also maybe black trans Hermione can have a cameo at some point as a treat, but who cares because it’s Drarryin' Time! *proceeds to Drarry all over AO3*" fics.
Like… why is it that after Rowling announced her status as a card-carrying fascist, "all the hp characters" suddenly became just Harry, Draco, Remus, Sirius and maybe Hermione if you're lucky? ESPECIALLY considering the fact that I know from experience that the fandom used to have way more diversity headcanons than this?
What about Ron "angsty because his mom wanted a daughter" Weasley? Or Neville and Hannah, who never had children (clearly, one of them is trans! Or maybe both are trans AND ace! Two groups Rowling hates for the price of one!)? Where are the Trans Dean/Seamus and Trans Lavender/Parvati fics? Trans Luna??? One of Bill and Fleur's kids being the first known male Veela hybrid in the series (literally a fuckin' goldmine of gender possibilities)???? What about fuckin' Nymphadora "gender nonconforming shapeshifter who hates her traditionally feminine name" Tonks (if ANY character would’ve been made trans or enby to spite Rowling, I’d have thought Tonks and her son Teddy would be the FIRST choices)???? EBONY DEMENTIA DARKNESS RAVEN WAY (objectively the BEST Harry Potter character)??!!!????
Part of me suspects that this is at least partly because these characters aren’t "popular" and therefore won't get the same attention as the Drarry "rivals to lovers" vibe and the All The Young Dudes spin-offs, but I can’t be fully sure of that.
And like… a lot of times it looks like their activism just, begins and ends with fandom activity? A lot of the same questions levied at HP haters ("are you supporting and/or donating to pro-trans causes?" "Are you making an effort to understand WHY TERF ideology is bad?" etc., all 100% valid questions) can also be levied against fans who make their headcanons and shipping the main source of their activism.
I’m not saying that NO hp fans are doing actual activism, I’ve seen a few examples, but it feels to me at least like the majority are not. It just seems they think shipping Harry and Draco whilst transing them to pretend it makes the TERF seethe (when really she probably doesn’t even know your fanfic exists) is a substitute for activism, just as HP haters think hating the series and patting themselves on the back for not reading it when they were twelve is a substitute for activism.
I guess the bright side is that at least the Drarry shippers aren’t harassing people? There are testimonies from trans people about hp fans harassing them, but the majority of those fans obviously wouldn’t also be writing trans Drarry fics so ehh?
Idk, like I said I’m conflicted and I need to vent. I’ve been holding this vent in for a while now.
I guess my thesis statement here is: HP fandom, if y'all really want to "diversify Harry Potter to spite the TERF", then please for the love of Glaux ADD MORE CHARACTERS AND IDENTITIES TO YOUR HEADCANON ROSTER.

Idk if you’re friends or friendly with Romance Dream, but I would suggest telling her to cool it on the posts. She’s making a fool of herself and misrepresenting Percy fans :/
I'm not anyone's babysitter.
I've already mentioned in a reblog or two that I do not approve of her RPFing, and to tone down the language when talking about Wenclair. I don't like it when she goes and uses negative judgemental language like "disgusting" when it comes to the ship itself.
What is disgusting is the insane objectification and projection going on with the Wenclairs. It's a behavioral issue, not an inherent "this ship is {insert whatever negativity you've seen/heard}".
Whenever someone says that the ship itself is disgusting, I have said that it isn't. LGBTQIA+ ships aren't disgusting. If I thought they were disgusting I would not write the Nightshade ladies in as I have (Tanaclay, Yokovina). Or write Moira!Chancellor/Larissa Weems (I started the 🔥, almost trans-centric post-Walker Wake deleted scene, it's in my files along with an unfinished Pink Bubblegum (Donovan/Wednesday/Enid) AU fuckfest...I haven't finished either because I'm just too busy with 8, Miller's Girl Universe stuff, and other non-fandom writings). Even ABW getting railed by Donovan while at the same time psychically experiencing a male orgasm counts as queer.
But I digress.
Again, I'm not her babysitter, and no one has any obligation to listen to someone you are just acquaintances with (I would only call people whose faces I've seen in long chats over multiple weeks/months "close"), but it would be nice if those who weren't Wenclair would be reasonable and not behave like a fucking homophobe who hates the ship "because they're gay", just as the more psychotic Wenclair people should back the fuck off when it comes to Ortega herself and her friends and co-workers. Bitches are already complaining about "the age gap" between her and Glen Powell under this post:
Tumblr media
The 🏳️‍🌈 are just pissy that she's swapping spit with cis males (and probably loves dick, just like her buddy Sabrina C.). They'll never fucking let up until she cuts all of the fans off for real (which she basically has, by avoiding all social media save for IG). Or until they make her job unbearable because she can't pretend to fuck men as part of her job.
I played a gay ass trans man on screen (yeah, I'm on IMDB 💩). I'm not gay. It was called ACTING.
There is such a dearth of reason and reasonable people in this damnable fandom. I'd say that most of the people in this fandom are kids whose brains haven't settled yet, but then again, I came across someone who's in their goddamn 30s who can't grasp simple concepts. The infantilizing of our youth/young adults is nearly complete.
ETA: While editing this post, I glimpsed at one of her later posts and comments. Does this work for you? FTR I didn't do it for anyone, I did this because it pissed me off when I read it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also FTR, I supported Trio Sandwich (Harry/Hermione/Ron), Drarry, Dramione, Snamione, Wolfstar, Gin & Tonic, Lucmione, and Weasleycest. My ex wrote a gnarly McGonagall/Lucius short before. Neither of us cared WTF was written, so long as it was written well. I wrote the first shorts/drabbles for certain rare pairs that no one would touch. We all wrote something like that because there was no lacking in creativity with the Potter people.
Jesus, I never thought I would ever say this — given how shitty JKR is — but I miss when that fandom was a big fucking family where we had our Weird Uncle Johns/Aunt Janies (like me...people from Pornish Pixies and Parry Hotter on LiveJournal) but we still understood that fiction is fiction and that we all loved the same canon. That all went to fucking Hell once this place became popular for fandoms and people started behaving like the goddamn Warriors for Innocence.

02. are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
benvolio and mercutio. nothing personal, benvolio. it's just that i imprinted my manifesting queerness on 1968 mercutio's longing gaze towards romeo in ninth grade english class. throwing back to my livejournal HP days: wolfstar. sirius black was madly in love with one of the marauders, all right, and it wasn't remus fucking lupin, i'll tell y'all that for nothing.
05. has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
that star wars ship. once upon a time, that might have been fun. then everything went radioactive and i've never forgiven either faction. would i have enjoyed jon and martin from the magnus archives more if the fandom for a horror podcast wasn't so obnoxious about not wanting their ships to be unsettling? probably not, honestly, but that certainly didn't help its chances in my eyes. (elias and jon forever.)
06. has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
i despised swan queen while watching once upon a time, mostly because i despised regina. now that i've grown up some, i...well, am still not crazy about her, but the fandom made me more sympathetic to her than the show ever did, and i have to admit i see the draw in the dynamic more now.
10. most disliked arc? why?
everything that happened to vanessa ives in season three of penny dreadful. my god, my god, why have you forsaken her/me? it made no sense whatsoever following all that she conquered in the first two seasons. it was disrespectful to her as a character and it was disrespectful to all of us who loved her and rooted for her and saw in her survival our own. and, most offensively, it was not supposed to be that way. i will die on the hill of "season three was rushed bullshit because of the sudden cancellation and they wanted to tie up all the ends however messily instead of leaving ambiguity, which actually would have been the better choice." john logan could offer me a million dollars to say that i believe he planned it that way from the start, and i would spit at his feet. (everything that happened to everyone in season three was absolute nonsense. ethan deserved better! henry jekyll, the most beautiful man on the planet, deserved more! i still don't know what the fuck they were trying to do with lily and dorian! but what they did to vanessa hurt the most.)
12. is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? why?
hm. i'll shout out to amilyn holdo again and mention her whole plotline, as well as the canto bight stuff in the same movie. everything was faintly ridiculous, yes, but at least it was interesting.

Hello, could you give your opinions about the Marauders, specifically about Sirius and Remus as characters? I am one of the very few people who doesn’t ship Wolfstar and doesn’t see Remus as the stereotypical nice, fluffy, shy gay man with no flaws or nuances, nor Sirius as the flamboyant and extremely eccentric guy. It actually baffles me how Wolfstar is so widely accepted as canon, even when canon establishes that those two distrusted each other (Sirius believed Remus to be the spy, and Remus started to doubt Sirius’ innocence only when he saw Peter’s name on the Map), not to mention the Prank and the fact that Sirius explicitly says that he doesn’t regret it (“...you see, Sirius here played a trick on him which nearly killed him, a trick which involved me —”Black made a derisive noise. “It served him right,” he sneered. “Sneaking around, trying to find out what we were up to...hoping he could get us expelled...”. Remus could have become a murderer thanks to him) and Sirius’ insensitivity towards Remus’ problem (“I’m bored,” said Sirius. “Wish it was full moon.” “You might,” said Lupin darkly from behind his book.). I don’t know about you, but this doesn’t scream romance to me. If anything, I believe Sirius could have had a crush on James, not Remus. How is it that the vast majority of the fandom ships them, going as far as believing it to be indisputably canon, and accuses everyone who doesn’t of homophobia? Sometimes, I think that Rowling’s black-and-white view applies to almost every fan. Not everyone of course, but so many are either Romione or anti Ron, either pro Marauders and vehemently anti Snape or vice versa, and the grey areas are never recognized. It’s frustrating! Sorry for the rant, hahah.
Hi there!
I certainly agree about the tendency of the fandom to overlook the grey areas or if you point them out you are accused of either whitewashing the villains or blemishing the heroes. It can be somewhat exhausting....
Anyway. The marauders. I realize that your question probably means that I walk on thin ice given how popular the marauders are.
A part of me gets it. When I first read the books and just gobbled up Harry’s PoV I really liked Sirius. What a cool godfather! Handsome, a motor bike, the opposite of the stuffy Dursleys, etc. And by book 3 we only learn that Severus Snape almost walked in on a newly changed WolfRemus and that James saved him in the very last minute. I really changed my opinion on Sirius later.
In contrast to Sirius, I still like Remus Lupin. I think he was the responsible one and should have detained his friends far more often, but I think in general he has matured well. I like the scene where he tells Harry that he should be careful with his life because his parents died for him. Also you can see, that he actually reaches out to Harry and he seems to be a good teacher and is one of the few adults in HP that is actually helpful. Remus is by far my most fav marauder.
We only learn more about the marauders with time. And the more I thought about the marauders the more I realized that I would absolutely have hated them if I had been at school with them. Irresponsible, bullying  (four against one), pranking, arrogant, probably never doing their homeworks and still getting good grades, carrying their ‘being gifted and rich’ on their sleeves, never adhering to rules, never getting into trouble because of it etc.
And in regard to how the marauders behave to Harry, I tend to side-eye them as well. I think Hermione is right when she accuses Sirius of mistaking Harry for James and I think Harry is right when he chastises Remus for trying to join the Horcrcux hunt when his wife is pregnant.
So, that being said, the one thing we know about the marauders which is good is that they joined the Order and fought against Voldemort. And they are ready to do quite a lot. Remus infiltrates the werewolves (can’t be that nice to hang around with Greyback) and Sirius is ready to fight for the order, he even swallows the fact that Snape is part of the order. He is not the best at hiding his contempt but neither is Snape. And in this situation they are both grown men and it’s one against one. So I don’t dislike their fights in TOotP as much as I dislike the bullying in school. And with their history it is almost impossible that they get along.
While I can’t see anything nice about the marauders as students Sirius and Remus do have redeeming qualities in the books and unlike James whose turn for the better we never get to see, we see both actually caring for people. And I wouldn’t even blame them for not caring about everyone, because we humans usually don’t manage that. Sirius is horrible to Kreacher but he is nice to Harry and I think that he actually has layers far beyond the ‘cool godfather’.
So, when I had finished the books, I saw Sirius as a grey character. And thinking about the whole betrayal of the Potters I had come to the following conclusion: Sirius was gay and in love with James (and unlike other things I did not blame JKR for not writing that openly, because at the time HP was written, children’s books couldn’t have homosexual relationships). While James might have been oblivious to the depth of Sirius’ feelings, Remus was not and neither was Dumbledore. Remus sort of knew that for Sirius, James would always come first, and Dumbledore had been in that place, so to say. When the Potters died and nobody but Sirius, James, Lily and Peter had been in the know about the switch of the secret keeper, everybody jumped to the conclusion that Sirius was indeed the traitor. Why? Well, Sirius had been the member of a family connected to Voldemort, but he had left this family behind and it made no sense that he suddenly would embrace his family’s legacy. I think Remus believed that Sirius had been the traitor because he finally snapped because of his unrequited love, and that is why he only believed that Sirius might be innocent when he saw Peter Pettigrew. Before that, he was extremely frightened for Harry and actually thought Sirius would kill Harry if given the chance.
So, that is obviously not in the text but has been my interpretation for quite some time. So, I agree that Sirius loved James.
That leads me to your question about WolfStar. Since I’m not a Remadora shipper, I’m sort of neutral towards the ship. The only basis in canon I see is their emotional reunion after it becomes clear that Peter was the traitor and not Sirius. And I sort of get why people take this and run from there.
I would argue though that canon hands us rather a few arguments why the ship doesn’t make sense. That Remus gets with Tonks in canon is not really an argument, because he could always have been with Sirius before that. Canon evidence against this is rather that for Sirius it was always James who was the most important member of the marauders. And while I can sort of buy that Remus as a teenager did not see how extremely dangerous the ‘prank’ Sirius played on Snape was, I think that the mature person we see in PoA would really, really hate that ‘prank’. Sirius basically tried to trick Remus into killing Snape or transforming him into a werewolf, when Remus himself was probably deeply traumatized by his own experience. It is quite clear that Remus hates being a werewolf - you could argue even up to a point where he forgets to take the drug that will make him harmless.
So, I don’t really vibe with the ship, like not at all, and I don’t think they make sense, not to me, not with how the characters are by the time of canon, but that is obviously irrelevant for fanon. People can twist canon, run with it, invent deleted scenes and that is all no problem for me.
There are so many things in canon HP that are a problem that I actually think we should be careful with using the argument ‘it is not canon’, because it is also canon that the elves are happy to be slaves, that squibs are discriminated against, that werewolves do not get the medicine they need, and that everyone is o.k. with it.
TLDR: I dislike the marauders and I don’t really vibe with WolfStar. I think Sirius was in love with James and didn’t actually care that much for Remus. But this is my interpretation. As for fanon Wolfstar: I just ignore it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for the ask!

Yes. Please Open The Box. I've been on hp brainrot cause I've been rewatching the movies with my mom. Please
i feel like i have a lot of opinions that are popular opinions, and fuck terfs, but nonetheless:
regulus black would have been the perfect example of a brave slytherin that albus was named after
arthur, hagrid, or remus could have served as other father figures instead of albus; tell me hagrid would not burst into tears upon hearing his child was named after him? also, arthur, for both ginny and harry!
i read the occasional drarry fic but it has to be very, very well-written; or, at least, it has to have the understanding that draco has to go through some sort of redemption, either through atoning for his own actions, or an au in which he already has—some fics make him the next-gen spy, a bit like snape
uh, draco and dudley are perfect foils, and people would simp after dudley if he was as “conventionally attractive” as tom felton
dudley had more of a canon redemption arc than draco did
fatphobia is rampant in the series—villains are the vast majority of fat rep, and even good fat characters like molly or hagrid still have faults (hagrid is “big and dumb,” a bit like dudley tbh, and molly is kind of just? a Mother? like that’s her defining character trait. nothing wrong with being a stay at home mom if that’s what you want, of course, it’s just that molly didn’t have much of a personality outside of her children until the later books.)
misogyny too—molly was so mean to hermione in the fourth book and fleur in the sixth, ginny was mean to fleur too, hermione gives off “not like other girls” energy especially concerning lavender and pavarti
poc harry and hermione—sure, jkr says she’s cool with it, but she gets a lot of credit for the bare minimum. she could have written them that way.
there’s a whole lot of white people in hp. wish there’d been better rep
same with dumbledore! it’s so clear she said he’s gay to get better credit for rep that’s barely there, but now she has the chance to expound in it in the fantastic beasts movies, she isn’t planning on addressing it. right. okay.
should i even get into the antisemitism of the goblins
most -isms jkr ticked, tbh, and described better by other people who these -isms directly affect, so i won’t get too much more into it
wish hufflepuffs had more house rep, in general, they mostly just get cedric, and i wish that “good slytherins” were expounded upon, especially concerning the whole “no slytherins stayed” for the final battle you cannot TELL ME that there wasn’t ONE slytherin who had ambitions to fight voldemort
(i’m a ravenclaw, btw)
cho, angelina, and ginny are all overhated; movie!ginny was albeit lacking a lot of the Spice of book ginny, and movie cho got shorted bc they didn’t include marietta as the betrayer of the da, but like. god. pls chill ppl
albus probably considered that sirius was innocent but decided to leave him in azkaban, even though he didn’t know for sure; albus probably also laid out the traps for the stone with eleven-year-olds in mind, just in case harry wanted to try and prove himself; albus was behind a lot of the machinations, and at the very least he left a child to be abused for years on end
i wrote a ten page essay on why snape is a garbage person for that college class i mentioned. i got a perfect score.
like seriously i could talk about how much snape sucks and why him having a crush on lily isn’t redemption, but like. we get it. c’mon. “i see no difference,” threatening to kill a student’s beloved pet, being that student’s worst fear....... come on.
harry should have been the dada professor when he grew up. like it’s right there.
tonks is genderfluid you cannot convince me otherwise
i love wolfstar as much as the next gal, but if we get a marauders tv show slash movie, you know she’d make that shit as straight as possible. no thanks.
someone on tiktok said florence pugh as helga hufflepuff tho and. yeah.
mmm jkr really should have kept her hands off a lot of the international schools; i know she messed up at the very least native american representation, even though native americans requested she not do that, and there are really big Colonization Vibes from those expanded schools. which like, i get, bc colonization was happening, but. still. so many fics have done better with those concepts.
speaking of! fic recs! these are all on ao3
the changeling: slytherin!ginny. takes her through all seven years and addresses various kinds of magic. i absolutely adore it. harry/ginny
boy with a scar series: takes various “what ifs” about the harry potter series and writes them; mostly canon ships
sunshine in my eyes: lily is raised by professor mcgonagall. jily
true, and unafraid of toil: a character study of autistic newt scamander
the dogfather: petunia turns down taking in her son, sirius escapes azkaban much earlier, and harry’s adopted by muggles. only the first year of hogwarts is written out in full, but there’s ficlets that follow through to the end of the wizarding war. wolfstar.
(the completely unwilling participants on) the bachelor: james is the first british bachelor; lily is a journalist who is sent on the show, undercover, by her shitty boss. james/lily
swung by serafim: a characterization of snape that i do not completely hate; i avoid the last two chapters, bc i do not like snarry, it squicks me out, and i didn’t see the tags for it until the very end of the work since it gets more textual in those chapters, and also it involves real life events that feels a bit strange to write about in fic, but. that’s just me. i think there’s cho/harry/cedric in there?
turn: genuinely just one of the best-written harry potter fanfics i’ve ever read. harry after the epilogue gets sent to an alternate universe where things went a little different. drarry
the debt of time: obligatory “hermione gets sent back in time to the marauders” fic; these were super popular on fanfic.net, where i started out, but i read this recently and really really enjoyed it. sirius/hermione, remus/hermione
the pure and simple truth: everyone goes out to a bar. drarry, romione
hogwarts, to welcome you home: harry as the dada professor from mcgonagall’s perspective
stealing harry: sirius never went to azkaban, but harry still went to the dursleys for a bit. it’s written up to part of the third book, but it has notes for how the rest of the series would have turned out. wolfstar
hermione granger’s hogwarts crammer for delinquents on the run: if harry was told he was a wizard at age seventeen, instead of age eleven. drarry
the reclamation of black magic: harry’s grandmother dorea was in a coma and never died. now she’s come to adopt her grandson and seek a reckoning on the wizarding world. this is unfinished and is in harry’s first year; sirius black/remus, for a bit, but also remus/female oc and sirius/male oc; probably harry/hermione, by the end of it.
if any of you have fic recs (especially fics featuring ginny, jily, or wolfstar) (i’ve been meaning to read atyd, i’m saving it) please let me know!

I was tagged by the gorgeous souls @silversickles @mooncat457writing @omgcmere @bi-disaster-fsotus Thank you so SO much babies!
~*~
name: I’m Len and I’m also  LupinMoons on AO3, though knowing me that’ll probs change soon enough RIP me and my dicey head
fandoms: The two main ships I write for are definitely Wolfstar and Firstprince, though I’ve got a bunch for Pynch as well— but yeah we’ll not discuss that fandom experience lmfao
where you post: So I’ve got a BUNCH of one shots ranging from like 2k to literally 10k on my writing tag here on Tumblr, Spilt Ink, but obviously the more polished up ones can be found on my AO3!!
most popular one-shot: Okay that depends I guess? On AO3 by hits and kudos it’s THIS little thing I wrote for Malec in my shadowhunters days, but on Tumblr I reckon it’s This one I wrote for Andreil?
most popular multi-chapter: So by Kudos it’s Look At You, Looking At Me which is a completed Amy/Laurie Two-shot, and by hits it’s hands down Come Back, Even As A Shadow, Even As A Dream, which is my beloved Firstprince Amnesia FIC that I fully intend on completing once my mental health is a bit more tolerable and I’m at a less busy time in my life.
favorite story I’ve written so far: This is so awks j becs this question can be taken in so many directions, and I’m always a self conscious little prick, but I guess probably
Head In The Clouds, But My Gravity’s Centered for Pynch because I think I really did capture their canon voices pretty well and it’s perfect winter vibes tbh
I’ll Breathe You In, If You Hold Me Close for Wolfstar because it’s such a guilty pleasure thing, and I remember being so terrified and embarrassed while writing it becs Victoria is such a remarkable author for Wolfstar and it was a belated Bday gift for her, but I think I had fun with it and that’s all you can ask for tbh
and lastly The One With The Marauders for it’s comedic value and how light hearted and fun it is to write and I get such amazing support for it by lovely souls whether on discord or Tumblr or AO3, notably RJ who’s like one of the top tear Wolfstar writers IMHO and has always given me ideas for it and just been a sweetheart<3
fic you were nervous to post: Okay this is two tear, becs apparently I don’t know how to make decisions lmfao. But like nervous over being judged is definitely from Metamorphosis which was ALSO a bday gift, and I wrote it for that dumb bitch Beth who is literally the most profound Firstprince author and author in general tbh and just beautiful inside and out! And I just remember staying up sprinting with Kathleen and shaking becs i was sure whatever I came up with would be pure shit and she’d hate it, but I think it was actually a catalyst which helped build the foundation of our friendship and she’s literally like one of the only people in my life that I trust wholeheartedly and love endlessly and I’m happy i ended up just going for it.
However, if we’re talking about like nervous to break into a fandom, it was hands down,  I Tried Writing Your Name In The Rain for wolfstar, because I’ve literally loved the idea of them since I was a fucking child— like when I thought I was still straight bahahaha— and There is countless masterpieces within the Wolfstar fandom and it’s so fucking huge and immense and rich with substance and beauty and I love them so much and I was so afraid of ruining their characters and dynamic but I’m so thankful that i’ve found so many amazing people who helped me get more confident with my take on Wolfstar.
how do you choose your titles: They’re almost always a lyric from either a favorite poem or the song I was listening most to while writing. Like I can tell you right now that the next thing I post will definitely have a Stevie Nicks lyric as a title lmfao!
do you outline: Outlines tbh intimidate me, and feel a bit stifling, but it’s definitely something I want to start doing because I’ve got two long ass Multi-chaps planned for 2021, and right now it’s just scrambled scenes written on this messy ass doc bahaha.
complete: Oh lmfao I will not be posting each fucking one shot I’ve written, but ya’ll can find literally everything I’ve ever written on either my AO3 or Spilt Ink Tag, every ship I’ve written for are Wolfstar, Firstprince, Pynch, Percabeth, Kit/Ty, Malec, Jimon, Hamliza, Andreil, Dair, Steroline, Jackie/Hyde, Peter/Jason from BAPO, Marvin/Whizzer from Falsettos and maybe a couple others?
in progress: So I actually have quite a few things in the works, and I’ll just mention the ones that are close to being published.
Firstprince secret snowflake gift posted on Christmas day
Wolfstar secret snowflake gift posted on christmas day
Wolfstar train ride one shot in January
Wolfstar next one shot for Friends AU before January
Wolfstar selkie Au in 2021
Tag some folks: So a bunch of people I was thinking of were already tagged, and I’m sorta not in a great mood but please if you’re interested in this challenge just consider yourself tagged! And tag me when you post and just have fun bubbyy!!!!

God Tier- Hannigram (Hannibal-One of my All-time Faves), Wangxian (MDZS-Another all time fave), Catradora (She Ra-One of the best things to happen this year), Ineffable Husbands (Good Omens- I know they were overhyped but they are super cute), Spirk (Star Trek), Connverse (SU), Peraltiago (B99).

heeyyy ellie! so you ship wolfstar and as a fellow potterhead i have to ask why them. i mean, i feel like i don't get why they are SO popular in the fandom, they are not even close and... you know, remus never doubted that sirius did kill all these people. so im confused, i guess. also how do you feel about prongsfoot?
hahaha hi ! ok so I guess it’s one of these ships that I ship mostly for the potential of it. I was one of those kids who grew up exactly with the books at the same age, and as a teen I just was more into writing shitty self-insert fics I am so happy are lost forever to the sands of time, I didn’t really ship anything except thinking Harry and Ginny were cool together.
But then I rediscovered HP in my early twenties and Marauders fic and I thought…wow this makes so much sense. I feel like Lupin and Sirius are the two most queer-coded characters (apart from Tonks but she doesn’t really have gay shippy potential) - with lycanthropy being an (extremely problematic) metaphor for AIDS, Lupin losing his job as a teacher when he’s outed, Sirius being rejected by his conservative family and running away, etc. And then I think I just love the whole ‘rebellious bad boy with a heart of gold’/’studious one with hidden darknesses’ trope. And I hated Lupin and Tonks for a reason I didn’t quite understand yet. Also i just love the idea that they’re Harry’s two most important parental figures in a way (after the Weasleys). And the idea of writing ah yeah those two were gay all along feels like unlocking the HP secret they didn’t want us to know lmao.
As for Remus thinking Sirius was guilty I think….that’s part of the appeal. Because the whole of the Marauders’ story is just so tragic. The older I get and the more I realize how terribly young they all were. And I mean, they trusted Pettigrew too. Imagine the fear and pressure they must have been under - and Dumbledore probably already was communicating very obtusely and manipulating people at the time (lol not a big fan of him tbh) and you have this group of friends who trusted each other more than anything in the world, splintering under the weight of the war and having to live in secret and being afraid for their lives constantly. Throw in a queer love story in the 70s and aaaah the sweet sweet angst. And the survivors’ guilt later and learning to heal and live in times of peace when you’ve lost so much. I just read some really good fics with them, just so lovely and bittersweet and fun. And in non canon/modern AU it feels very healing to give them the happy endings they never had.
As for Prongsfoot I have to say I never really thought about it because James seemed always so obviously into Lily but I kinda love the idea of all of them as an OT4 ?. Lmao I forgot to say but I also read Drarry fic from time to time it’s one of those ships I really don’t ship in canon but I like the potential of them after the war when they’re all grown up and everything is so much more complicated and ennemies to lovers is just a lot of fun. I really have a ‘fuck canon, this is our sandbox now’ approach to HP canon lol (also can JKR please stop for real). So in the end it just really depends on finding good fic.

Fandom Related Question I’m Going to Answer Although Nobody Asked Me Just Because I Want To
A: Your current OTP.
My all time OTP is by a landslide Zutara, but lately I’ve been on a Miraculous Ladybug kick and I’ve been especially passionate about the lovesquare (have you seen that dance seen? eek!). I know a lot of people prefer specific pairing within the square, but they’re all the same people so I don’t really care. I like all the interactions.
B: A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind.
Well the first one that comes to mind is Talisto (Talia and Mephisto) from LoliRock. It’s by far the most popular ship in the fandom and I certainly understand the appeal, but it wasn’t something that stood out to me. Personally my biggest ship in that fandom was Irisana (Iris and Auriana)
C: A pairing you wish you shipped, but just can't.
I can think of a few sitcoms where the main pairing was something I never really liked, such as Ross and Rachel on Friends or JD and Elliot on Scrubs.
D: What was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom?
I wrote a Zutara fic and posted it on my Deviant Art long before I really knew what fandoms and shipping even were. Man was I naive.
E: Have you added anything stupid/cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what?
Have I added anything stupid to my fandom? Some of the stuff I’ve written is pretty stupid. And I sometimes make some really ridiculous headcannons. But nothing specific comes to mind.
F: What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom? What fandom was it?
Probably the ATLA fandom. I didn’t get into HP until later on otherwise it’d probably be that. ATLA was sort of the first thing I became kinda obsessed about. I was livid about Zutara and Suki and Sokka are also so important to me. I was actually just reminded of how amazing Suki is on a post and it made me want to rewatch the series.
G: What was your first fandom?
Again, ATLA. My first fandom, which I am still a part of.
H: Do you prefer real-life TV shows or animated TV shows?
Normally real-life. Then I don’t feel like I have to hide it or make excuses for watching it. Because when I watch animated shows my brothers are always making fun of me for being a giant kid which doesn’t actually stop me from watching it, but I still prefer the option without the ridicule.
I: Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
I don’t think that’s ever happened to me. If I stop liking a fandom it’s normally because of me getting bored with it or upset about the writing.
J: Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr.
Supernatural. All the way. I don’t even really watch it. I’ve seen the first few seasons and a few random episodes but I haven’t watched the whole thing. Yet I have Destiel stuff on my dash all the time and I’m always reading Destiel fanfic that pops up.
K: How do you feel about the other people in your current fandom(s).
Well with my latest obsession, Miraculous Ladybug, I feel like there’s a lot of homophobia and a lot of unnecessary idealization of Chloe. I mean, Chloe is going to get a Miraculous and right now I hate that. I don’t think she deserves it and she would need to be written a Zuko-level redemption arc for me to be happy about it, but only a small number of people seem to care. It’s like they’re just excusing her behavior. I hate that.
L: Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for?
If I could have only one request I’d probably ask for something Zutara. Probably something to fix that horrible ending. Although, who knows, I might ask for something in my current obsession. I’d love to see some Broppy or Lovesquare work.
M: A person who got you into a fandom and what fandom they pulled you in to.
Actually, I didn’t get in to Miraculous Ladybug until after I got into LoliRock and one of the blogs I followed posted about how much of a great show it was. I respected and admired them enough for the LoliRock stuff that they posted, that I decided to check out Miraculous Ladybug. Now I’m obsessed.
N: Your favorite fandom (for the people; not the thing you fangirl over).
For the people? Probably HP fandom. It’s like the mothership of fandoms. Everybody knows HP and talks about HP. There are a few bad bugs but mostly everybody is just so awesome. They all just realize how special HP is to our generation.
O: Choose a song at random, what ship does it remind you of?
The only song I can think of under such pressure is Chore by Mark Forster and that’s because I just saw an amazing fan made animation for Broppy that had that song and it literally made me cry. It was beautiful.
P: Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
Au for Miraculous Ladybug: Uhm Girl Genius Au. Instead of having Miraculous, Marinette and Adrien have sparks and have to face off against another spark, the evil father of Adren who is most definitely not like Gil’s father.
Q: A ship you’ve abandoned and why.
Uhm let’s see. I shipped Eretria and Amberle in the first season of Shannara Chronicles. But seeing as how Amberle is now a tree I guess when I finally see season two that ship will be out the window.
R: A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships.
Uhm, I’m pretty passionate about Luna and Ginny in the HP fandom but I don’t really ever see anybody else ever shipping them. Which sucks.
S: What's a headcanon you have?
Well I have a lot of headcanons but since I’m assuming this question is about my current fandom, which is Miraculous Ladybug, I’d say that I headcanon Rose and Juleka as precious lesbians.
T: What are your favorite male/male ships or female/female ships?
I have plenty of gay/les ships but some of my favorites: Wolfstar, Supercorp, Destiel, Johnlock.
U: What are your favorite male/female ships?
Some all time favorite ships: Zutara, DoctorSong, Zenmasters, .
    * V: Do you have any 3-way ships? If so, what?
I am not opposed to the 3-way ship of the three main girls in LoliRock but otherwise I can’t really think of any others.
W: 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms.
from my five most recent obsessions
Harry Potter fandom: Luna is definitely my favorite character. I adore her.
ATLA fandom: Suki by far. I sometimes go through the series and just watch the episodes with her in it.
Miraculous Ladybug fandom: Alya. That scene where she flawlessly dances Adrien and Marinette closer to together and then goes back to her boyfriend who has an adorable little smirk. I just can’t handle it.
Trolls fandom: Aside from Branch who is sarcasm king, my favorite background character is Guy Diamond. He would make for an amazing best friend.
Brooklyn 99 fandom: Holt is my favorite character. When he pretends to be straight or when he acts especially gay are the best parts.
X: 3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms.
From 3 random fandoms
OUAT fandom: Captainswan although I haven’t really been into OUAT lately.
MCU fandom: ScienceBros!
SW fandom: Stormpilot for TFA and Rebelcaptain for Rogue One
Y: A fandom you’re in but have no ships from.
Lord of the Rings. I support some of the ships (Frodo and Sam, Barduil, Gimli and Legolas) but mostly when I read/watch LOTR I don’t really ship anybody.
Z: What's a ship that you want to ship publicly, but everyone on tumblr hates it so you keep your mouth shut about it?
I don’t think I have any of those. Even when I ship unpopular pairings, I don’t really keep it to myself.

Why I ship the shit I ship
So,I know that shipping in general is a fangirl’s main thing.Basically,it’stwo people or characters that have a chemistry, fanon or canon that makes you super happy and giggly. I know that shipping characters is usually fine, because they aren’t real people, though people do fight over differnet characters. Then, there is shipping real people in the real world. I understand why morals are questioned, but if it does not directly affect you, then don’t bother. I realize that it’s hard to avoid people who ship IRL people, but that does not give you permission to be an asshole.
Fandom communities are wide, broad and very diverse. You have artists, writers, bloggers, people who do all three, people who spectate, newbies, veterans and crack shippers along with many variations. It’s designed that way so that everyone feels like they have a place in a community. Fandoms are a great way to meet new people, observe writings from young writers and look at incredible art from all kinds of sources. So, why should a ship ruin your time.
I have many ships,as I’ve been in many differnt fandoms. Some, I stayed in a little but left, due to a new interest. Others, I am still in because I am so involved in the fandom or that I can’t get enough of it. Some fandoms I was in or currently are in right now, are: Thomas Sanders, Jacksepticeye, Crankgameplays, Markiplier, Teamiplier, Hetalia, Free!, Attack on Titan, Harry Potter, Supernatural,Sherlock, Doctor Who and at one point, Twilight. As you can see, almost all of them contain real people, whether actors or not. I know for a fact! that YouTube especially, is kinda new in the whole Fandom thing, as it can be hard to create and maintain a captive audiance and keep that audiance to create a fandom around that. But,with it’s growing popularity, YouTube fandoms are growing bigger. And with bigger fandoms, come shipping fangirls.
C’mon though, there are a lot of collabs and there are quite a few that make you smile, because there is a chemistry between the people. Little chemistries that blossom into amazinga nd pure friendships. These friendships lead to meeting IRL and collabing together in the same location. (I’m mainly talking about gaming channels here). Fangirls love a good chemistry, and they are pretty fricking good at finding a quality chemistry and blowing it out of the water. Soon, there’ll be fanart, fanfictions and posts about these encounters, ranging from fluff, to angst to smut and lemons. We all know it happens, so deal with it.
Then, come the realists, who start bashing ships with facts. “They aren’t gay”, “They have girlfriends” and “Why are you writing abotu REAL people??” So what?! It’s make believe and for fun anyways! FanFICTION! Fiction is not real / parallel universes, where this stuff can become a reality. Trust me, we know it’s not real. That doesn’t mean we can’t dream and create universes to make it real.
But, that is not what this is about. You all probably know this, since I’m writing this on Tumblr. This is about my ships (which I will list a majority of them) and then I will (try) to explain why I ship it the way I do without a lot of words.
My ships include the following:
YOUTUBE:
Phan (YT) This ship is one of the most famous, but I don’t ship it as most do. I view this glorious ships as the cutuest and purest brotp ever. I’m talking plaonic I love you’s, forehead kisses and hand holding. This ship for me is fluff! Because they’ve known each other for a long time, I don’t doubt they tried dating, but I can’t see it working out. I feel with their bond, it’d be awkward for them, so they break up, and just stay as incredibly close friends.
Jelix (YT) A semi-rare pair of YouTubers jacksepticeye and Pewdiepie. This is also just an incredible brotp for me. Any collabs they do are super fun and engaging and they almost seem like brothers. The playful fighting and insults remind me of a brotherly feel to their relationship. I know that Jack is dating Signe and she is an incredibly badass girl with killer style, and I ship Septishu so hard! They are absolutely adorable together!!
Septishu (YT / IRL ) Oh. My. God! I can’t even begin to explain this ship. It’s super cute and super canon! Wiishu is an INCREDIBLE person, with the gall to keep up with the loud tennis ball that is Jack / Sean. She has an amazing sense of style and her make-up is always gorgeous. How can ANYONE hate this incredibly adorable Danish badass?! Plus, she has her own YouTube! Any videos she does with Jack are incredibly cute and sweet.
Tythan (YT) This one will garuntee get me in trouble... Tythan. Oh, the newest (kinda) ship of Ethan from Crankgameplays and Tyler from Teamiplier. Two guys who (maybe?) live(d) together and appear quite frequently on Markiplier’s channel. But, there is a chemistry between the adorable Baby Boy Blue and Stone-Face Tyler. With subtle glances, a couple hovering incidents and a bunch of adorable interactions, how can you not like these two boys. They botha re incredible and sweet people who just wanna spread kindness. How I ship this,I still don’t know. It’s  mixture of lovey-dovey romance with platonic friends who just get along great! I just like seeing my bois together!
Crankiplier- A weird pair, but I like the weird ones. Basically, it’s just Mark and Ethan as their current relationship is. They get along great and Mark has said that Ethan impresses him, with his perservearance of not giving up on his YouTube channel. Plus, thei have great laughs together and their collabs are hilarious!
Cranksepticeye- Another odd-ball. I don’t know why I like this pair. It’s just, fitting? Both loud bois with colored hair with a dedication to making their fans happy. Plus, they have somewhat similar mannerisms, like constantly brushing hair out of their eyes, and their loud and hyperactive personalities, along with steadfast morals. To me, it’s a mirroring thing and besides, my bois are precious.
Septiplier-No, THIS one will definitelly get me in trouble... Okay, this originally wasn’t going to be on here, but I ship this. Now, before you get your panties in a twist, let me explain this. I love the friendship of Mark and Jack. The banter and the playful jabs are so funny. They have girlfriends and I only ship them as friends. Much like Tythan. The dynamic chemistry between them, plus the banter, their Prop Hunt videos and general collab videos are hilarious. I did ship it romantically at one point, but not the smutty lemons and that. Eck. I like pure things with dynamic characters that have great chemistry. Septiplier is dead, but their friendship lives on in my heart, because to me, that’s all they ever would be.
HETALIA: I should say this. All of these ships are based around Fanon only, as I’m not a fan of the show itself. I really love the fanon universe that’s been created.
RusAme- Shut up. I like a good, conflicting pair! A lot of good angst, and headcanons. These two are such a power couple.
FrUK- SIBLINGS!! I don’t ship this romantic. Their pasts are too deep and troubled for them to be romatically in love in my book.
USUK- SIBLINGS!! See FrUK for the explanation.
Spamano: A fiesty Italian matched with a lovey-dovey Spaniard who has a great ass? Sign me up! A pair tha’s dynamically opposed, hell yeah!
GerIta- It’s canon. You can notprove it too me othewise.
ScotEng- https://www.youtube.com/user/KamisWorld94 There ya go. These two (German??) cosplayers have created these characters so beautifully that I can’t help but NOT ship them.
AmeCan- Brotherly Love. Grown up together under heavy Native American influence until the British and French came, but still raised in similar ways and are the best bros ever!
DenAme- Two hyperactive, silly adults with the enerdy of 6 year olds? Yep! Two stubborn men with morals, a love for showing strength and then silly antics? Sign me up!
PrUK- Bros. I fully believe in the Head Canon that these two were twins. yeah.
SpUK- Pirate. Days.
Awesome Trio- Beer? check. Three men with childish energy levels? check. A home alone? check. Crazy, drunken antics? Sign me up!
SANDERS SIDES: Aka the zany personalities of the amazing Thomas Snaders
Polysanders- Because I love the idea of the aspects of Thomas loving themselevs and each other.
HARRY POTTER:
Drarry- Shut up. I can’t help it! I’m a slut for contradicting characters finally resolving all their hate for love instead, finding out that being gay is okay, and that they are happier. (I’m also a slut for 8th Year Drarry. Huh! be still my beating heart!)
Harmony- Come on! These two get along like brother and sister. Hermione always worrying about Harry, Harry making sure Hermione has some fun. He usually sticks with Ron on arguments, but he does side with hermione when Ron’s being and arse. They watch out for each other, and in thd Deathly Hallows, when Ron leaves and Harry tries to cheer her up? That was super pure and I love their relationship.
Ginny X Luna- Cute lesbians both underestimated by others? YES!! Luna helps Ginny be a little more girly and Ginny helps Luna with her hexes. Ginny definitely is the protector, but Luna’s in Ravenclaw for a reason. She’s super witty, and exceptionally clever, with music. Plus, Luna and Ginny having sleepovers where they braid hair and just chatter are my achilles heel!
WolfStar- What? Come on! I love Maruaders so much! I would pay a lot of money, to have a Maruader’s universe series, written like Casting Moonshadows. That fic is a blessing on this Earth!! Plus, the YT group, Mishcief Managers have a to die for Marauder’s universe and even a killer Drarry storyline!
Notice: I am not tagging any of the people mentione din this for good reasons. Many of them have said that they do not want to be tagged in shippy stuff that’s about their friends. At least, that’s what I’m trying to prevent. I love them all, because they are all amazing people, so don’t be douchebags and tag them. (What I mean is by @ ) I will tag the various ship names, and fandoms.

Note
trc and/or harry potter
yay I love spending time on stuff, let’s see:
TRC:
my beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world fave: Adam Parrish... obviously... I wouldn’t even call him a “cinnamon roll” but that’s how I feel about him is that I love him a lot
my trash-shit fave: idk I mean none of them are trash-shit really, I guess Ronan is a bit especially since the author who shan’t be named refuses to give him development... but in terms of actual trash fires... maybe Neeve, she’s evil but cool
my I love to hate them fave: I don’t have any faves I LOVE to hate lol... idk I mean I hate Kavinsky but I’d rather not think about him? at this point in the accursed fandom life? hmm
my I hate to love them fave: I guess Gansey, only because while I love him, there’s so much discourse that it’s exhausting
my I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire non-fave: Robert Parrish, and not only would I not piss on him if he was on fire, I would throw oil on instead to fan the flames. OR I would leave him alone to burn if that’s what Adam wanted. man I hate Robert Parrish
my I didn’t care about them either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about them now I can’t stand them non-fave: fucking. Declan Lynch. before I felt kinda sorry for him, now I’m just tired of hearing about him
my I could take them or leave them kinda non-fave: I guess Noah? he’s a sweetheart and I love him but also like eh
my I will go down with this ship and I won’t put my hands up and surrender, there will be no white flag above my door. I’m in love and always will be fave ship: I mean... obviously Pynch... I’m not actually sick of Pynch but I’m almost like sick of hearing about them because this fandom ruins EVERYTHING but I still love them a lot and I still think they’re a great great relationship
my dirtybadwrong fave ship: I don’t think I have one. Does Adansey count, since TRK smashed it with a hammer, so in a way it’s “wrong” or something... what about Orla/Helen, since both of them are kind of mean but I still love them both... Idk nothing is dirty or bad or wrong unless it actually is and then I don’t ship it!
my they’re cute together and I dig them but I’m not all that terribly invested kinda fave ship: Bluesey, I suppose! Before TRK I would have been more invested in Bluesey but now that I know the wonders of Henry Cheng added to this ship I can’t look back
my I didn’t care about this ship either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about it now I can’t stand it non-fave ship: uhhh... Ronsey maybe? Or Roah? idk Ronan x not-Adam is usually kind of meh to me because he seems like the type to get serious only about one person romantically, but I don’t CARE much, and the fandom doesn’t really either tbh... the only people who are weird about it are the people who are weird about everything, aka the NSFW blogs and stuff
my MAKE IT STOP non-fave ship: rovinsky ugh ugh stop throw kavinsky into the trash can
Harry Potter [hoo boy I can already tell I’m gonna have 4000 options for each answer thanks JKR]
my beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world fave: so many, but Harry, Hermione, Luna, and Remus have to win if I have to narrow it down to a few
my trash-shit fave: Bellatrix, she’s evil and shit but at least she got that aesthetic
my I love to hate them fave: Draco I guess lol. I’m not a Draco stan but you have to admit, he’s got style. in terms of being a lil shit
my I hate to love them fave: Dumbledore is my problematic “fave”? I have a lot of headcanons about him. I wouldn’t say I love him at all, I think he’s terrible, but his character fascinates me so much that he’s somewhere in the list of “favorite characters” in terms of writing a good villain/hero/mentor/fucked-up dude character
my I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire non-fave: uhhh same answer as everyone which is Umbridge
my I didn’t care about them either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about them now I can’t stand them non-fave: hoo boy... I’ve seen all the gross corners of this fandom so it’s a tough choice... oh you know what? Pansy Parkinson. Guess what if you wanna ship girls with girls, it doesn’t have to be with racists. shockingly wlw doesn’t equal Bitchy Edgy Evil, it can be Luna or Ginny or Parvati or a million people
my I could take them or leave them kinda non-fave: lots, I suppose. most of the Gryffindors haha
my I will go down with this ship and I won’t put my hands up and surrender, there will be no white flag above my door. I’m in love and always will be fave ship: There’s not too many because I’m a big multishipper for Harry Potter, but I love Romione, Wolfstar, and Ginny/Luna a lot
my dirtybadwrong fave ship: Ooh tough one... I read a Lily/Narcissa fic in eighth grade when I was deeply repressing everything and I loved it but also, probably because I was starving for any f/f content. idk maybe Dumbledore/Grindelwald?
my they’re cute together and I dig them but I’m not all that terribly invested kinda fave ship: most of the canon ships tbh, Harry/Ginny, Bill/Fleur, Remus/Tonks, etc.
my I didn’t care about this ship either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about it now I can’t stand it non-fave ship: fucking Drarry, shut up you weirdos, Harry Potter is bi for sure but he’s not into Draco “Bullied Everyone and Tried to Murder a Bunch of People But Didn’t Even Have the Balls for That” Malfoy
my MAKE IT STOP non-fave ship: like I said I’ve seen every gross corner of this fandom so... there’s a LOT... but in terms of actually-popular stuff... oh anyone shipped with Snape, yeah. Any Snape ship, unless there’s a somewhat healthy one out there I haven’t seen. Dear GOD. Please stop.
Anyway thanks for giving me something to do to waste time! you’re great and these fandoms are really too much of my life lol

Arthur/moody, lucius/moody, lupin/snape?
the brutally honest ship opinions game
Arthur/Moody: ……okay, like, I have basically no positive feelings about Alastor Moody — I mean, I feel the same need to defend him from JKR’s ableist garbage that accidentally got me in too deep with Lockhart, but we are still talking about a guy who supports using Dementors on people and apparently dngaf about what someone’s done, just send ‘em all to fucking Azkaban (GOF ch. 30, the flashback of Moody we see in the first Pensieve scene)
who thinks that the best present you could give to a kid who’s lost his parents and just watched a classmate be murdered…… is going over a photo of the First War Order and telling him about how all of them died horribly and he doesn’t ever stop to think that this might not be the best idea (OOTP)
and who is legitimately less sensitive to other people’s needs and less dismissive of people who aren’t his exact model of “useful” than a literal fucking Death Eater one of the biggest points where Barty Crouch Jr. drops character in GOF is when he takes Neville to his office and gives him a pro-Herbology pep-talk, and goes, “so, hey, Longbottom, Professor Sprout said you’re super-good at this subject, why not pursue it,” because based on the actual canon about him? The real Alastor Moody would never do something like that.
Like, he might have the moment he has with Harry and Hermione, where he goes, “so, hey, both of you could be gr10 aurors if you wanted, you should think about it” because that, from Moody, would be a compliment, and Harry and Hermione more closely fit his own ideas of usefulness, but not so much the Neville moment)
—but seriously, do you hate him or something? Why else would you even dream of shipping him with Arthur Weasley? (okay, fine, I acquiesce that there is enough of a canonical basis for some people to roll with here, and I myself have made ships out of far less…… but seriously, why would you ship anybody with Arthur Weasley. Like…… wow, rude.)
Lucius/Moody: again, I’m not on the Alastor Moody fan-train or anything, but why would you even do this. Nobody deserves to be shipped with Lucius Malfoy, like? He’s not even an entertaining villain, he’s just pathetic. He’s a sad, pathetic fantasy-fascist who gets his kicks by bullying twelve-year-olds and torturing muggles who can’t defend themselves. He’s a complete waste of character space and forcing anyone to be in a ship with him is just unfathomably cruel
Lupin/Snape: meh, whatever. Like, it’s not my thing, but… *shrugs* meh?
Like, idk what you’re looking for here, nonny, but I’m guessing, based on the other two ships, that you’re looking for me to get cranky and ship-bashy and figured that Snu//pin was a good way to get there, since there are a lot of legitimate Problems with this ship in the text
But the thing is, I’m just under 900 years old (at least in fandom terms), and I remember the days back before HBP came out, when Snu//pin was the second-most popular Remus ship (after Wolfstar, to the surprise of no one), and was, in fact, so popular that it had its own private archive and got black-listed from most rarepair comms because it, “wasn’t really rare, just less popular than D//rarry, Wolfstar, Ro//mione, Dra//mione, H//inny, and J//ily”
—I mean, there was a short stretch before OOTP where I tried to make myself like it because there was a BNF whose art I loved, and she shipped Snu//pin, so I felt like I had to be missing something obvious and cool and because I was, like, twelve, I tried to make myself ship the thing. That didn’t work and I eventually just moved on, but one thing that I recall about the Snu//pin fandom that appears to still be more or less true, based on everything I’ve seen of the present-day Snu//pin fandom?
Is that they came out about the same as the Wolfstar fandom, in terms of how many shippers ignored or made excuses for #Problematic things about the ship vs. how many shippers work those things into the overall fabric of how they ship the thing, how many shippers LIKE the ship because of those Problematic parts and having the opportunity to explore them in fiction, how many shippers actively dive head-first into exploring those parts of the ships because that’s where they find the most engaging character interactions or whatever they’re into, etc.
For examples of what I mean when I say #Problematic things about the ships:
the fact that all three of them are self-loathing [human or werewolf] disasters who are often passively suicidal and either prone to acting out on those feelings (Sirius and Severus), or prone to repressing those feelings until they explode all over some innocent bystanders (Remus)
the fact that all three of them have suffered horrific abuse in their pasts — whether from their parents or other sources — and find ways to take it out on other people (Severus on his students, Sirius on Severus and Kreacher, and Remus on almost anyone who tries to get close to him, even as he makes it seem like he isn’t doing that)
Severus outing Remus as a werewolf because he’s upset and felt like punishing someone else for it, thereby leading to Remus tendering his resignation
the fact that Sirius assuming Remus had to be the spy would’ve been at least partially based on anti-werewolf prejudices, and Sirius still clearly had at least some of those prejudices on his own, because even if Peter totally manipulated them in his favor, there had to be something there for Peter to manipulate in the first place, so???
the fact that Remus doesn’t help shit anything, in any situation ever, with his habit of trying to weasel out of any Emotionally Difficult™ conversations and his tendency to mentally spin most situations so that everyone is going to leave him in the end anyway so it’s acceptable to shut down, close himself off, and pull stunts that more or less come down to, “totally up and bailing on everyone,” which is understandable, given his backstory, but dude, that doesn’t make it okay or helpful??
basically, “literally anything about the characters as individuals, or in terms of their interactions with each other — both past and present — that could potentially cause problems for either/both/any/all of them and potentially make the relationship unhealthy (or unhealthier than it already was, in the cases of Snu//pin and Snack because…… oh boy, let’s not even act like either of those — or any ship with Sev in it, for that matter — is ever going to be ‘healthy’ by any definition)”
So, like? Is Snupin #Problematic? Yes, definitely. Are some of its shippers prone to ship it in #Problematic ways? Oh, yes, absolutely (Hell, the BNF whose art I used to like even flat-out said things like, “Sirius would never be able to be there for Remus like Snape could” and… um? Even granted that this was pre-OOTP: ummm???)
But on the whole, Snu//pin shippers aren’t actually any worse about totally ignoring and/or excusing these elements of their ship than Wolfstar shippers are (and, actually, they might be doing better than a LOT of the present-day Wolfstar fandom, since I usually don’t see any more recently made Snu//pin that doesn’t grapple with at least some of the #Problematic elements of it — they don’t always do it well, but at least they’re trying, which counts for a lot, to me, because most people don’t even try — while most Wolfstar these days flat-out ignores all the #Problematic elements of Sirius and Remus as characters, and of their relationship, in the name of what often amounts to borderline-OOC caricatured fanon nonsense, so…)
(……Look, I love Wolfstar, and I have for longer than some people on this website have been alive. But I don’t love a lot of Wolfstar shippers, which has been the case since the beginning of my Wolfstar shipping
stayed the case when HBP came out and I was all, “Hey, guys? I don’t like this BS Remus/Tonks thing either, but can we NOT erase bisexuals or treat Tonks like garbage when we’re talking about it, it’s not her fault that Molly Weasley is a meddling nosy garbage buttinski who thinks it’s her job to play matchmaker to fully-grown adults who didn’t ask and don’t want her input,”
and is still the case as I’m over here, all like, “ugh, man, at least we used to have SOME people in this fandom who enjoyed reading Wolfstar angst, now it seems like nobody cares about anything unless it’s all fluff, all the time, with absolutely no room for anything else because god forbid you ever want to write about LGBTQ characters whose lives aren’t 5,000% perfect, that obviously must mean that you’re a gross fetishistic cishet and not, for example, a neurodivergent, mentally ill lesbian survivor who feels left out by the trend towards forcing every LGBTQ person to act like we’re happy, all the time, and to act like we’re only interested in fictional LGBTQ people who are perfectly 5,000% happy all the time
“and to decry any and all depictions of LGBTQ people being UNhappy as gross fetishistic straight people garbage even when they were actually created by and for LGBTQ people, only to be misappropriated by straight people, as if there’s no way you could possibly be LGBTQ and NOT feel ~used and maligned~ by depictions of LGBTQ people that are less than 5,000% perfectly happy, even when they are being created by other LGBTQ people, yeah? ……but yeah, no, clearly: the fact that I like angst obviously means that I am a straight person because no ~real~ LGBTQ person ever has any need for those ~gross negative feelings~ or fictional outlets for them, never mind how many LGBTQ people get excluded from our narratives and spaces by this bullshit bc lmao who cares amiright. ://”)
—anyway, my motto has been and remains, “It isn’t a question of WHAT you ship, it’s a question of HOW you ship it,” so hey. Snu//pin is not my thing (it’s not even as non-shippingly interesting to me as Sirius/Severus is, because I love how much those two hate each other while unwittingly being perfect foils for each other), but I don’t actually have any desire to ship-bash it and most Snu//pin shippers are okay with me because unless they’re actually doing anything that’s harmful to anyone else, it’s not my business what they ship
That said: “Snu//pin” is still one of the worst portmanteau ship names ever and it still sounds like a deadly virus or something, but *shrugs* Whatever, it’s not the shippers’ faults that their ship members’ names don’t smush up all that nicely

please answer 1-6, 18, and 26 from the Salty Ask List (especially for Father Brown, of course. ;op)
What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*
Sooooo many. I have this thing where I’m fundementally incapable of shipping the most popular ship in any big fandom. I don’t know if it’s hype backlash or if I’m just naturally drawn toward smaller, less mainstream ships. There are a few exceptions (ex: Jim/Pam, Ron/Hermione, Disney canon ships) but even in those cases, I tend to be more lowkey into them.
I also have this weird squirk about platonic soulmates turning romantic and an even bigger squirk on mentor/protege ships. (It just always feels like there’s an unequal power balance which makes me uncomfortable).
So yeah, you can imagine how many ships my mind has already sunk before they launch.
In terms of Fr. Brown specifically, any serious romantic ships between  the core members of the squad (Fr. B, Mrs. M, Sid, Lady F, Bunty). I can ship them with others (Susie, Sullivan, Flambeau, etc) but not with each other.  I don’t mind past casual no-strings-attached dynamic between Sid/Felicia but like lately there’s been some serious romance stuff and just…no.
Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*
Again soooo many.
Harry/Hermione, Lewis/Hobson/Hathaway, Doctor/Rose, SwanQueen, Supercorp, Joanbell, Merthur (and even BrOTP is a bit of a stretch at this point considering how DONE I am with Artie), any time someone tries to ship one of Marvel Avengers with each other, Jafael (and again the BrOTP is a stretch), Wolfstar, Han/Luke, Sybil/Branson, Silverflint, Fr. Brown/Flambeau.
Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
I tend to unfollow people primarily when their SJ posting starts to resemble bullying/ harassment more than it does advocacy. Sometimes that goes hand-in-hand with fandom opinions, (ex: “If you don’t spend every waking minute of your day fantasizing about x-fictional character’s violent death, you are white cishet scum who deserves to be killed along with your entire family.”)
However, the most petty reason I ever unfollowed someone was because they were a Julia-Louis Dreyfus stan who went on and on about how every year she deserved ALL the awards and that there was no one else who ever even deserved to be nominated apparently. And like, I like JLD well enough (especially during her Seinfeld days), but I got so tired of her winning (or at least being the heavy favorite) year after year after year…while other deserving candidates (particularly Amy Poehler for Parks and Rec) came up empty, despite delivering equally strong/stronger performances.
(Also I’m a bit of a hipster when it comes to Veep, since I was a TTOI fan first, and I still believe it was the stronger show writing-wise and it has never gotten the accolades/attention that Veep does. So I’m always kind of lowkey bitter about Veep’s success.
So yeah, I really got tired of hearing about JLD over and over and over again, especially when I had followed that person for something different and  just kept getting more of the same.
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
This should be fairly obvious given the above but YES and YES. Merthur is probably the biggest name example though.
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*
Fandom has ruined both SwanQueen and CaptainSwan for me (not that I was ever particularly invested in either). And the Supergirl fandom is well on its way to ruining Supercorp for me. (I was onboard until the fans started bringing Melissa’s marriage into it.) The Merthur stans not only ruined any BrOTP feelings I had about that pairing but also the entire Merlin fandom as a whole.
Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?*
Hate is a strong word and not entirely applicable. But fandom did make me consider a lot of pairings I would never have otherwise, such as Draco/Luna, Winn/James, Bunty/Susie, Sid/Sullivan and more. :)
Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased?
This is actually something I struggled a lot with initially and still have some residual conflicting feelings about--especially given that some of the pairings that I tend to ship instead of the juggernaut pairing are niche at best. So I used to be much less vocal about my shipping preferences, because I wanted to avoid getting hate and because I myself worried that I was in denial/delusional about it. I’ve finally reached a relatively healthy mindset, but it took a long, long time. Which is why I’m always careful not to spread too much ship hate, cause I don’t want anyone else to feel this way.
26. Most shippable character?
For me, probably Jean Innocent or Luna Lovegood. I have exhausted the number of shipping possibilities.
