fic is a safe space, probably one of the last safe spaces. by safe i mean safe from the pressure of caving to advertisers. you can write fic about anything and not worry (shouldn’t worry) about what’s popular or what an advertiser oriented algorithm will pick up. what i mean by this is that you don’t have to bring this advertiser friendly behavior into fic. heroes can make bad decisions, people can fall out of love, villains can win, villainous organizations can win, redemption doesn’t have to happen, etc. make things a little messy if you want to, because life can be messy and art is a reflection of life. not what the advertisers have decided for us life is like, real life. this is one of the last places where this is still possible

#Hilda and twig: twig experiences a microaggression #hilda the series #Hilda and twig hide from the rain #this comic is lovely #it fleshes out twig and how he views his place in Hilda’s life in a way that feels like a natural continuation (or prequel ig) to the show #there’s some little nods to the show too which is fun #man I didn’t realise how much I’d missed the comics #the show is AMAZING but there’s just something about the pen drawing style and colour palettes and comedic beats in the panels yknow #and despite luke making it to be more geared towards younger kids than the OG comics were #(I believe he said the idea came from seeing how his daughter struggled with the OG comics #and he wanted something that was more ‘bedtime story’ material)#but this feels exactly the same as the others #it’s just things are arranged a little differently across pages for easy following. the panels are bigger and the story is smaller #i think it’s sweet that the core feel and writing remained and it’s just more accessible to younger kids now #anyway that’s my ramble lol #also I liked the robin that got given one (1) breadcrumb and pledged allegiance to hilda instantly #best character

It's kind of funny (heartbreaking) that there were multiple Ravens who wanted a number, to the point where some tried to manipulate Jean into helping them one way or another, but none of them would have been next in line. No matter what they did, there was always someone ahead of them on the list. Someone who wasn't even on the team. That someone wasn't Neil. Neil was a surprise to everyone, including Riko. That someone was Andrew.

Kevin might have had to beg Riko to go visit Andrew, and Riko might have laughed at Kevin and dismissed Andrew when Andrew turned him down, but make no mistake, if Andrew had accepted and had become a Raven, he would have taken that #4 spot within his first year.

If we're being real, Andrew had more of a chance at becoming part of the perfect Court than any of those Ravens ever had. Even Jean thinks of Andrew as one of them.

The other Ravens never stood a chance.

Ohhh my gods, this one was so daunting (I don't like backgrounds 😭) but it was so fun!!! This scene is going to be like. The really fun dramatic one when I get around to writing it, but for now here's a piece for it instead!!

Very quick explanation for those who haven't seen my insane rambles: Dream was about to kill Killer (finish him off) when Nightmare bursts out of hiding to get between them!
