can i please request eddie giving reader a stick and poke?? thank you
hi hi!!! here it is i hope u enjoy :) it’s all fluff | 1k words, gn!reader (pls let me know if that’s wrong!)
You’re laying on Eddie’s bed, flat on your back and staring at the ceiling. He’s sitting on the ground, his back against the foot of the bed.
It’s quiet, he’s focusing on his task—giving himself a stick and poke. He does this often, small doodles scattered about his limbs. You love it.
You shift around to lay on your stomach, your head hanging over the edge of the bed so you can watch him while he works. It’s mesmerizing, you think, to watch a thin needle dipped in ink create little images on his skin.
He’s adding one to his thigh, his jeans thrown somewhere in the room leaving him in his boxers. His hair is tied back in a low bun, out of his way and just as pretty as always. His tongue is poking out between his lips in focus, and you find the habit of his really cute.
You watch him finish the tattoo in silence, nothing but the sound of one of his records filling the room. It’s nice to spend time with him this way, relaxed and worry-free. Just you and your boy.
He turns to look at you when he’s done, a small smile on his face and ink splotches on his fingertips, “what do you think?”
You peek down at his leg, the tattoo is of his precious guitar, its shape makes that clear. You giggle, his love for the instrument a sweet thing and you can’t help but tease him for it.
“Really, Eds? You gave yourself a tattoo of your side chick and not me?”
He shakes his head, smile growing. “C’mon, babe. You know how much she means to me.”
“‘M just teasing. It’s great.”
He pecks your lips as a thank you before wrapping it up and standing.
You sit up on the bed, your eyes on him and his many tattoos. You’ve wanted one for a while, and you wouldn’t mind having him do it here, in his room. The only thing is, you don’t know what to get.
“Will you give me one?”
“A kiss?”
“No, silly. A tattoo.”
He faces you, some surprise on his face but more curiosity. “Really? Of what?”
“Yeah, please? You can choose.”
“That’s a lot of trust you’ve got, babe. How do you know I won’t just pick something dumb?”
“Because you know me, and you’re not like that. You care too much and I love you for it.”
He doesn’t know why that really tugged on his heartstrings, but it did. He figures if you trust him enough to choose a tattoo, you trust him in a lot of ways. It makes him feel special, important.
You’re waiting for him to decide, and you’d be okay with it if he said no. But, you think that he’d do a great job, and you’d love to have a piece of his art with you at all times.
“Yeah, okay.”
You can’t control the grin that spreads over your face. “Really?”
“‘Course,” he loves the excitement in your voice, the little twinkle you get in your eyes. “Where should I do it?”
“Mmm, back of my shoulder?”
“‘Kay, lay down again, sweets.”
You obey, pulling the strap of your tank top off on the side that you want the tattoo, giving Eddie the space to work. Your head rests on your arms. You’re a little nervous, but mostly interested to see what it’s like. The feeling and what he’ll choose.
He brings his supplies up on the bed, new ones that he’s just cleaned. He sits with his thighs on either side of your body, probably more intimate than any other tattoo artist would be, but he can’t help himself with you.
“Just gonna draw it on first, okay? You’re sure you trust me with this?”
“I trust you, Eds. Go ahead.”
He does, light strokes against your skin. You’re trying to guess what he’s drawing, but you can’t figure it out. You’re mostly focused on his weight pushing you into the bed, one of his hands holding the fabric of your shirt away and the other working away.
Once that’s done, and he checks in with you one, two more times, he dips the needle in the ink and gets started. It’s not as bad as you expected, not painless, but definitely manageable. You think it helps that your boyfriend is the one doing it.
“Still good, babe?”
“Yup. ‘S okay, not bad.”
He kisses the back of your neck, far enough from the tattoo so there’s no risk of infection or anything, and then gets back to work.
When he’s finally finished you swear you could have fallen asleep there after a minute more. He takes out his polaroid camera, snapping a picture of your new ink so you can see it without getting up.
He cleans everything up as it develops, wrapping your tattoo up just as he did his and pulling your shirt back into place for you.
“Okay, have a look.”
He hands you the picture, and you think it’s cute that he sounds nervous. You can tell that he wants you to like it, that he cares about what you’ll think.
You hold it up, close to your face and you’re quiet as you take it in. It’s cute, an outline of a little devil, horns, tail and all. The lines are shaky in some spots, but you love it nonetheless.
Eddie’s sitting next to you now, eyeing your face for any reaction that isn’t good. You sit up to face him. You aren’t saying anything and it’s making him nervous. He scratches the back of his neck, clearing his throat before speaking.
“‘S the devil on your shoulder, get it?”
“So, it’s a tattoo of you?”
“Babe.”
You push his hair off of his forehead, giggling at your own joke, “sorry, sorry. I love it.”
“You do?”
“Of course I do! Thank you, Eds.”
You lean in to kiss him, sweet and short. He kisses your cheek as you pull away, then tugs you into his lap to hug you.
“You’re welcome, sweets.”

NMJ is the only one that knows bc he’s the only one that NHS truly trusts, he’s the only one who knows why NHS focuses so much in painting and art, NHS doesn’t know why or how but with a little bit of spiritual energy he’s able to bring what he paints in paper to the real world and with that the Nie sect has the beasts of legends under their command
on ao3
“How about you draw a flower?” Nie Mingjue said without much conviction. It was hard to have conviction when you knew it was pointless.
“No!” Nie Huaisang shouted, unsurprisingly, because toddlers always shouted. They seemed to have a great deal of feelings and sound for such small frames. “Taotie!”
Nie Mingjue grimaced. “No, no, not Taotie,” he said quickly. Never Taotie, not again. “How about the Baihu? Nice fuzzy tiger?”
“No!”
“Fenghuang? You like birds.”
Nie Huaisang considered it. “I like birds,” he agreed.
Nie Mingjue heaved a sigh of relief. “Me, too,” he said enthusiastically. “I love birds.”
He had never had especially strong feelings about birds, but he was willing to develop some.
“Okay,” Nie Huaisang said, and patted his thigh comfortingly. “I’ll draw you a bird, da-ge.”
“…thanks,” Nie Mingjue said.
When Nie Huaisang was done, he proudly presented Nie Mingjue with the results of his work.
Nie Mingjue put the baby phoenix in the new aviary he’d secretly had constructed behind his father’s back, thinking to himself that the high-grade construction materials he’d insisted on were totally worth losing his allowance for the next year.
The phoenix chick - it looked like a plucked chicken with maybe three feathers total - weakly coughed smoke.
Because of course it did.
Sometimes Nie Mingjue wished that he could just tell someone about Nie Huaisang’s unusual gift – it was a pretty big burden to bear, and he really wasn’t sure he was old enough for this type of responsibility – but no one else deserved to know. If they didn’t have the good taste to like Nie Huaisang when he was no one and nobody, pointless and useless, they didn’t deserve the benefits of knowing him now that he could do stuff.
Even if it was weird stuff.
Stuff like his ability to summoning the things he drew into existence.
Even things that might not really exist.
Besides, the thought of Nie Huaisang getting wrapped up into war and politics when he was still so young –
No, better to just store away what he made and hope he grew out of it.
And no more Taoties.
-
“Lan Zhan said his uncle shows people his artwork,” Nie Huaisang said, sitting on Nie Mingjue’s table in the family study. “Why don’t you ever show my artwork?”
“You do art?” their father asked absently, most of his attention on the report he was reading.
“Huaisang does great calligraphy,” Nie Mingjue interjected very quickly. “You’ve seen it – it’s beautiful. And his poems are very well crafted, too.”
“But Lan Zhan said –”
Nie Mingjue mentally resigned himself to not being friends with Lan Xichen any longer, no matter how well they’d gotten along, on the basis that the other boy would probably take it personally when Nie Mingjue murdered his brother.
“He also said stuff about rules,” he said. “Hundreds and hundreds of rules. Do you want to listen to all of those, too?”
“No,” Nie Huaisang said sulkily, five years old and bitter with it. “But…”
“How about we show Lan Wangji your aviary?” Nie Mingjue coaxed. “Go ask him if he’d like to see it. I bet he’s never seen anything like that – and you can ask him what type of animal he likes best, too!”
Nie Huaisang’s eyes went wide at the thought and he dashed off.
“You spoil him far too much,” their father commented. “An aviary – you talk about it more than he does, and you’re always getting birds to fill it up for him, too. Why are you so devoted to him learning to like birds?”
“Better than him liking fierce beasts,” Nie Mingjue said, omitting to mention exactly where he obtained the birds that filled the aviary. “Or corpses.”
“If he liked fierce beasts, perhaps he’d be more martially inclined.”
No, we would be, Nie Mingjue thought. He’d gotten a lot of spare practice with Baxia trying to fight corpses that had no business being there during the period in which Nie Huaisang had gotten temporarily interested in the things in his father’s stories – and that was before Nie Huaisang had learned about yao.
“I don’t want him growing up morbid, that’s all,” he said.
“You’re his brother, not his nursemaid,” their father said, a little exasperated. “Nor are you his mother. Why are you fussing over him so?”
Nie Mingjue huffed and shook his head. “How goes recruitment for the border?” he asked instead, and listened to his father tell him about how people barely a year or two older than him were being sent to risk death in the name of sect honor.
Not Nie Huaisang, he promised himself. Not yet.
He’d tell his father when Nie Huaisang was old enough to handle the consequences.
-
“Huaisang, didi,” Nie Mingjue said, and tried to smile, even though it pained him. “Can you do me a favor? A really, really big favor?”
Nie Huaisang sniffed, clutching at his arms and shaking. “What, da-ge?”
“You remember Jiwei? A-die’s saber? Can you draw that for me, please?”
It only made it worse.
-
“Da-ge?”
“Yes, Huaisang?” Nie Mingjue asked, scowling at the map. It didn’t get any better the longer he looked at it, but maybe if he kept glaring he could cow it into submission.
“Don’t you want me to help?”
Nie Mingjue looked up at where Nie Huaisang was wringing his hands by the door. “Help? With what?”
Nie Huaisang rolled his eyes at him, like it was Nie Mingjue being dense instead of him having started a conversation in the middle. “Uh, with border defense?”
“Why would I ask you to help with that?” Nie Mingjue asked blankly, then realized how his words could be misconstrued. “Not that I wouldn’t ask you to help, of course, but you’ve never really liked battlefield strategy, and anyway you are only twelve –”
“Da-ge!” Nie Huaisang whined. “I meant drawing!”
“…as in maps?”
Nie Huaisang’s glare could light fires.
Nie Mingjue coughed and put aside his work to focus on his brother. “Huaisang, why do you think I would use your drawings in planning out a possible battle?”
“Because they’re useful?” Nie Huaisang said, crossing his arms. “I can make things appear, da-ge, just by drawing them. Not sure if you’ve noticed, but that’s not something that normal people can do.”
“I know,” Nie Mingjue said. “It’s not. But just because it’s not normal doesn’t mean it’s not a wonderful ability, Huaisang.”
Nie Huaisang looked a little bit appeased.
“But just because it’s wonderful doesn’t mean I’m going to abuse your ability,” Nie Mingjue continued. “You should be playing, not working, and if anyone tells you otherwise, you tell me and I’ll straighten them out.”
Nie Huaisang came up and hugged him. “So it’s not that you’re not ashamed of me being weird and useless?”
“I think we’ve already established that an ability like yours is far from useless. And I don’t care how weird you are, principles are principles: you’re too young to be used for battle. Sorry, Huaisang; my hands are tied.”
Nie Huaisang laughed at him and left, looking much happier.
-
“So what would you like?” Nie Huaisang asked, eyes sparkling. “Me and my brush are at the ready, here to help!”
Nie Mingjue rubbed his forehead. “If you’re sure…”
“Da-ge! I’m seventeen – you were already sect leader for two years by my age. And it’s not like I’m going out there on the front lines or anything; I’m just going to draw some stuff for you.”
“You say ‘just’,” he grumbled. “It does drain your qi, you know. That’s why you took such a long time to form a golden core…”
“Yes, but I did get there eventually, didn’t I? And anyway, it’s fine, I’ll do it instead of my usual landscapes. What would you like? A dragon to devour our enemies? The white tiger, nipping at their heels? A taotie –”
“No Taotie.”
“You’re so weird about that,” Nie Huaisang complained, rolling his eyes again. “Fine. Then what?”
“Sabers,” Nie Mingjue said, giving in. “Standard steel, not spiritual. Horses, feed, saddles. Say, how are you at drawing arrows?”
“Da-ge,” Nie Huaisang said. “I can draw you the beasts of legend, and you want me to draw you arrows?”
“Yes. As many as you can bring yourself to create, really; everyone’s always short on arrows. More rice would be good, too –”
“This wasn’t exactly what I was expecting when I volunteered to help,” Nie Huaisang grumbled.
“Are you going to do it for me or not?” Nie Mingjue asked, unimpressed. “You asked me to use you, not to give you an art project.”
His brother heaved a sigh. “Yes, yes, I will. Can you explain to me why this is your choice, at least?”
Nie Mingjue ruffled his brother’s hair. “Huaisang, when you draw something, it comes to life. Fully to life, as a separate and independent creature of its own – if you draw a dragon, who’s to say that the dragon will choose to fight the Wen sect, instead of turning on us? It wouldn’t be much help if we had to run out, sabers drawn, to deal with whatever it was, only to be exhausted before the Wen sect even arrived.”
“…oh.”
“When we’ve made some progress in the field, I promise to let you help build fortifications,” Nie Mingjue said. “You can start thinking of really nasty traps –”
“Da-ge?”
“Yes?”
“…is that why you hate the idea of me drawing Taotie so much?”
Nie Mingjue coughed.
“Da-ge!”
“Don’t worry about it. It was always really good saber practice…”
-
“And if anyone tries anything against you at the camp, you draw something really mean, okay?” Nie Mingjue said, pressing paper and a brush into his brother’s hand in addition to the ones he’d hidden away in his luggage - there was a chance that might be confiscated upon his arrival. “I don’t care what it is.”
“I know, I know –”
“Promise me!”
“I will!” Nie Huaisang exclaimed. “I promise already!”
“Not just if they’re aggressive. Even if things just look suspicious –”
“Suspicious? Like what?”
“If they take you somewhere secluded,” Nie Mingjue said, face drawn with worry. “Somewhere where it’d take us a long time to find your bodies. I don’t care if you put other people in danger from your creation, okay? Don’t make me have to find your corpse.”
Nie Huaisang was silent for a moment. “I understand,” he finally said. “I promise.”
-
“I’m never drawing anything legendary ever again,” Nie Huaisang sniffed into Nie Mingjue’s collar. “That Xuanwu was awful. It tried to eat all of us!”
-
“Do you want me to help with the logistics, Sect Leader Nie?” Meng Yao asked.
“You already help with the logistics, Nie Mingjue said, not really paying attention. If it was serious, Meng Yao would bring it to his attention – he was a truly remarkable aide-de-camp. “You already help with everything.”
“I appreciate Sect Leader Nie’s confidence in me,” Meng Yao said, smiling a little. “But no, I meant – with the imports.”
“Imports?”
“Every week we receive new shipments of goods – food, weapons, defenses – from Qinghe, and we don’t send any money back. Surely such expenditures are putting a strain on the Nie treasury..?”
“Oh, don’t worry about that,” Nie Mingjue said. “Huaisang is handling it. It’s good for him to have responsibility.”
Meng Yao looked a little skeptical, but in his defense, he’d met Nie Huaisang.
“Really,” Nie Mingjue assured him. “He’s not going to hurt our budget – it’ll be fine. They’ve come steadily every week so far, haven’t they?”
“If Sect Leader Nie is content, then so am I,” Meng Yao said, but he was pouting a little, perhaps at the perceived lack of trust. He did so love to be helpful.
“You know I trust you with my life,” Nie Mingjue told him. “But this is something that Huaisang is, for once, best placed to handle. Don’t worry about it.”
It wasn’t really his secret to share, after all. Maybe when the war was done.
-
Nie Mingjue was on his back in the throne room of the Fire Palace, staring up at the man who murdered his father and who was about to murder him, too, when he heard the sound.
A high-pitched squeal, unlike anything else he’d ever heard – a little like a pig, a little like a wolf, a little like the long slow grate of metal against metal. It burned on the ear, a vile sound on the verge of being physically painful.
“What is that?” Wen Ruohan asked, frowning. He was standing above Nie Mingjue, his foot crushing down on his chest; Baxia was out of reach, knocked away, but at least no longer in the traitor Meng Yao’s hands. “Meng Yao…?”
“I - I’m not sure, Sect Leader Wen,” Meng Yao said, looking equally confused.
Nie Mingjue laughed.
They both looked at him.
He grinned up at them, blood in his teeth.
“What?” he said. “Never heard a Taotie before?”

You Can Be the Boss
Pairing: Neville Longbottom x Reader
Pronouns: She/Her
Word Count: 2.2k
Request: N/A but it’s based off of this rambling here
Summary: Women are beautiful, but they sure don’t make ‘em like her.
Warnings: Weed, Alcohol, Mentions of sex.
A/N: I wrote this to cope with the copious amounts of work I had due but I finished it all so now we celebrate!
Hogwarts had many things but one thing it lacked severely was normality. Not that it was a problem, nobody who attended Hogwarts was normal but it didn’t stop a portion of muggle born students from feeling a bit homesick to things their muggle friends did at their own schools. That’s how the talent shows started. At first, the students tried to get it officiated by the school. Dumbledore thought it was a wonderful idea!....if it was professor supervised and when it turned out that Snape was the only professor with enough freetime on his hands, the idea of having it being school ran quickly flew out the window. But looking back on it now, many were happy they went with the idea of going behind the professors backs. It wasn’t like they weren’t aware, they just had no proof of it all happening. The atmosphere of the talent shows were different from ordinary talent shows, however.
For starters, anything went. Any talent you had you were encouraged to bring it no matter how big or small it was or if it was “school appropriate”. But the pro to this was also booze and bud, meaning that everyone had a good time no matter what. Although, as it would turn out there were many talented people at Hogwarts. So, for the past few months every Friday everyone would gather in the room of requirement, watching the many ups and downs of performances. Neville started frequenting there as often as he could. It was a win-win, his friends got free entertainment and he had a chance to make some money from selling to chumps with too much cash on their hands. What better way was there to spend the night?
His hazel eyes snapped up at the feeling of his blunt being ripped out of his hand. He went to swear, glaring at whoever was stupid enough to do that but quickly stopped as he saw who it was. He watched with wide eyes as the tip of it went between her pretty (l/c) lips, exhaling smoke. (Y/n) (L/n). She was one of those girls you either knew or you didn’t but more than likely, you knew her. Before 5th year, no one so much as spared her a glance but after a very fortunate late puberty in their current year (7th) she was slowly becoming all anyone could talk about. It was truly amazing what a haircut and a bit of weight in your hips could do for your social life. He eyed her curiously as she looked down at him.
“You comin’ tonight?” she asked, exhaling another puff of smoke into his face. (Y/n) put the joint back in his hand, moving the heavy guitar case into her now free hand.
“Yeah. ‘Spose I am.” He mumbled, eyes trailing down the expanse of her plush thighs. They were on full display due to the skirt she wore that left nothing to the imagination. His eyes locked with her (e/c) ones as she hummed, nodding as she took the blunt back from him walking off. She flashed him a smile once more, winking as she turned the corner going merlin knows where.
“Oi! What does she think she’s doing? You really gonna let her take the blunt from you like that just because she’s fit?” Ron complained, glaring at the boy who was set with the rest of their group. Neville shrugged, turning his eyes back to his book as he turned the page.
“If you’re so bothered by it why don’t you go take it back yourself?” Neville sassed. They all looked at Ron waiting for a response, laughing as he had nothing to say but a small ‘piss off’ under his breath.
-----------------------------------------
Neville wasn’t one to put too much into his appearance. He’d usually just throw on a sweater vest over one of his uniform shirts and call it a day. However after the conversation he had had with (Y/n) earlier, he couldn’t help but wanna look nice. Was she flirting with him? He sighed as he glanced at his appearance in the mirror for a bit. ‘I doubt it.’ he thought. He shook the negative thoughts out of his head, packing his satchel with a few different strains. Just because some pretty girl was batting her pretty little eyes at him didn’t mean he was going to forget the reason he went to these things in the first place. The only other time Neville made this much money was Gryffindor common room parties and even then, it was only by a little.
But even as he was checking his appearance once again, he couldn’t help but let his thoughts drift. “Why am I wigging out? It’s not like we haven’t talked before.” He said out loud to himself. (Y/n) was a frequent buyer from him and even though he didn’t know her personally, she was one of the few people whose faces he remembered. At first, he was extremely annoyed by her. Who did she think she was showing up at his dorm at 3AM just to buy a bit of fucking jane? Every wednesday at the same time, she’d show up at his door (in a negligee that was far too short might he add) with that dopey look on her face asking to buy. And every single time without a doubt, he’d sell it to her. He had to admit, after a while he even started to enjoy the girl’s appearance. It gave him something to look forward to during his mundane school week.
“Ready to go, Nev? If we leave now, we can use a secret passage my brothers’ showed me.” Ron said, opening the door to Neville’s door. The lanky boy cleared his throat, giving the boy a nod as he wiped his sweaty hands on his pants. Without another word, they both began their way ready for the night to unfold.
As usual, the talent show didn’t disappoint...for all the wrong reasons. Even though the cringe worthy performances were top notch entertainment and he had already made quite a bit of money, he still couldn’t stop from searching the crowd for a certain head of (h/c) hair. Where was she? After the stunt she had pulled earlier, he was sure she would be here. She had some nerve doing that and then not showing up. However, as he turned his gaze back to the stage, he saw the woman of the hour herself. She was in an oversized crochet sweater dress and a pair of combat boots. His eyes looked up in wonder as she took the stage, sitting on a wooden stool that was placed from the last sad excuse of a performance.
“It’s a bloody shame that she’s so fucking hot. Poor thing is going to embarrass herself singing up there.” Ron said, taking a sip from the beer he had in his hand. Neville nodded in agreement, taking a hit from his blunt but not really paying mind to his friend. It was hard to do so when the girl of his dreams was on the stage a mere foot away from him. He was absolutely intoxicated by her (and the few shots he had taken a bit ago) but he had to agree it would suck when she-”
“You taste like the fourth of July
Malt liquor on your breath, my, my”
She sang into the microphone softly. Neville’s jaw dropped in awe at the sound of her voice which was nothing short of angelic. He wasn’t the only one who was stunned considering the whole crowd went silent, a stark contrast from the loud chatter and laughter from before. He watched as she strummed at the guitar in her hands, looking up from the ground into the crowd. Mesmerized wasn’t even the right word to describe the state he was in.
“I love you but I don’t know why…”
His eyes were focused on her lips, taking in every word she said. Harry nudged him, mouthing the words ‘look up’ to him as a small pause had come into the song. Neville looked at him confused before trailing his eyes up, gasping when he saw that hers were locked on his own. She smiled and flashed him a wink before continuing her song, leaning in forward. His own body began to subconsciously drift forward to but at the last second she pulled away and continued to sing.
"Did you see that? She definitely wants me." Seamus boasted confidently. The others looked at him dumbfounded at the fact he could get even more idiotic than ever before.
"Don't be fucking dumb mate! She was clearly looking at me." Ron chimed in, causing another round of even more exasperated looks to be thrown the ginger's way. They truly were dumb and dumber.
"I-I think both of you are wrong. (Y/n) was looking at.." Harry trailed off as the girl stood up, dancing around the stage with her guitar as she continued to sing. Not a single pair of eyes weren't on her at the moment. Could you blame anyone? When a beautiful girl with the voice of a siren is on stage, you'd be a fool not to. However, dumb and dumbers’ argument ceased as she made very clear eye contact with their awkward friend.
“You can be the boss, daddy
You can be the boss”
“That’s all me boys.” Neville said, a triumphant smirk taking over his place as Dean leaned over to give him a fist bump. As much as (Y/n) had him wrapped around her finger, it appeared she was wrapped around his too. All the angry glares being sent his direction were only fuel to the pride he felt growing in his chest. Such a pretty girl, the same pretty girl who plagued all his wet dreams and shower thoughts, was not only on stage singing in front of him, but directly to him as well. She reached a hand forward, tips of her fingers lightly brushing against his flushed cheeks.
“I like you a lot, I like you a lot
Don’t let it stop”
“This is totally unfair. One of the hottest chicks in our year and she’s pining over Longbottom.” Seamus grumbled, grimacing as the liquor went down his throat hard. Dean rolled his eyes, shaking his head.
“Jealous much?” he asked no one in particular, as that could be said about most of the guys they were sitting with.
“Bad to the bone, sick as a dog
You know that I like, like you a lot
Don’t let it stop”
Neville felt his own lips curl up into a smile at the sight of the one that belonged to the angel in front of him. However the cute moment didn’t last long cause once again, Ron chimed in with something else.
“Neville? Bad? He still sleeps in pajama sets!” he exclaimed quietly, earning a ‘shh!’ from Harry. The boy in question leaned forward, looking at his ginger friend.
“Is this really coming from the boy who needs Mummy’s howler to fall asleep at night?” that shut him right up. Harry snorted, high fiving him for bringing up the embarrassing piece of information.
The girl continued to sing, eyes never leaving Neville’s for a second. Ron and Seamus’s petty comments had ceased as well. Even though they weren’t the one receiving attention, they could still admit the girl had pipes on her. When the song was over she stood up, bowing as the silence of the crowd quickly erupted in cheers and claps from the breathtaking performance. There were a few more people left but no one paid much mind to them. He found himself feeling bad for them. Even if they were good, none of them could top the performance of the night.
As the night began to come to a close, (Y/n) found herself over to Neville again parking herself in his lap which he gladly accepted. She looked up at him, smiling shyly. It was almost comedic due to the words she had so sinfully sung to him only 45 minutes ago. Neville ignored the way his friends gawked at him. He’d deal with that another time.
“Come back to my room and split a spliff?” she asked, looking down as she picked at her fingers. He grabbed her hands, leaning in close to her.
“Only if I can eat your pussy afterwards.” he said confidently. He said it quiet enough to not draw attention but just loud enough that his friends would hear. (Y/n) felt her face grow warm as she nodded, hopping up from his lap as she dragged him off to her room.
Neville 1, blokes 0.
Extra:
“Seriously?! Is it really that easy? What does he have that I don’t?” Seamus said, mind running over the times he’d attempted saying things like that. The only place it had gotten him was on the ground after he had his balls kicked!
“It’s gotta be the weed. After all, who wouldn’t wanna sleep with the weed man? Free pot!” Ron exclaimed, trying to rationalize what had just happened.
“Aren’t you the residential booze man of Hogwarts? If that was the case, you’d have an easier time with women too.” Dean said, causing Harry to nod in agreement. Ron simply grumbled, slamming his empty bottle down as he walked off from the cackling group of blokes.

It ends in fluff of course but like maybe their friends are like you messed up man and its a really big fight. thank you. - anonymous
Playboy squad indeed. I feel like all three of them but mostly Oikawa got their hearts obliterated and that’s why they have adopted that fuckboy persona. These boys just need some real love even though one of them is a rat. Love ya.💖💖💖

warnings: angst to fluff, some cursing
Oikawa Tooru
-It had been a hard week.
-Actually a hard year.
-Oikawa was focused almost solely on volleyball, over doing it many times while you were studying like a maniac.
-Being their manager helped you loosen up.
-Plus it gave you the chance to be with your friend group.
-You had noticed how Oikawa seemed to brush off many of your attempts to hang out, sometimes giving you an excuse to why he couldn’t make while other times ditching you.
-He hadn’t ditched you many times but it still hurt.
-Knowing that your best friend forgot almost completely of your existence.
-You had drifted apart the last few months and the only one who noticed apart from you was Iwaizumi.
-He had seen how he wouldn’t find Oikawa beside you when he came to your lunch table or how you weren’t Oikawa’s first call anymore after a game.
-It bothered him too.
-Seeing his two best friends separate like that.
-And Iwa knew you tried to prevent it, he gave you advice on the matter as well.
-But Oikawa seemed oblivious to the gap that was forming and kept on ignoring you, more and more as time went on.
-The final straw came when he wouldn’t answer your calls one Saturday evening.
-It was one of those rare occasions when he had agreed to spend some one on one time with you and you were really excited.
-You hadn’t seen your best friend for weeks, apart from some small conversations during practice.
-You had been waiting for an hour, the movie you had picked already had started and was now in the second act.
-If this had happened a few months ago you would have let it slide, made a comment in your group chat and leave it at that but not this time.
-He had ditched you one too many times and you were sick of it.
-Making your way to the gym, you were taken aback by the lack of sound coming from inside.
-You expected to be met with the sound of balls slamming on the opposite wall but nothing, the slamming was replaced by female giggles and a really familiar voice.
-Opening the door slightly you found your best friend being pinned to the court’s floor by one of his fans, her giggles bouncing off the walls as she kissed him.
-Without a word you left, letting the door slam shut behind you as you walked out of school grounds and straight home.
-It hurt like hell and you weren’t able to get that image of him pinned to the floor out of your head for the rest of the weekend.
-He had texted you apologizing for missing your movie night, saying he was practicing late and he got carried away.
-You answered with a simple okay and didn’t speak to him after that.
-You kept your distance at school, simultaneously avoiding Iwa who knew that Oikawa had done something.
-Volleyball practice was your neutral ground, the only place where you chatted with everyone but still gave him small curt answers.
-Iwa had had enough of all this so he cornered Oikawa after practice as they were walking home alone, without your normal bubbly presence with them.
“What the hell did you do to Y/N, Shittykawa?”
“What do you mean? I’m completely innocent.”
“She has been avoiding you like the plague all week and you haven’t even noticed? What the hell happened last Saturday?”
“I didn’t see her...”
“You missed it? Again?”
“It wasn’t my fault! Yui-chan found me at the gym and she kinda jumped on me.”
“You know what’s funny Oikawa? The fact that you claim you love her.”
-That’s why he’s now trying to coax you to open your bedroom door.
- “I’m studying Oikawa leave me alone.”
-His last name leaving your lips hurt, a lot.
-He had always been Tooru to you or even Shittykawa.
- “Y/N please, I’m sorry for Saturday I’ll make it up to you!”
-You opened that door then, rage burning in your eyes as you met Oikawa’s pleading face.
- “Now you care? You have some fucking nerve coming here and giving me some half-assed apology after you ditched me for some chick last Saturday. I don’t need your apologies as much as you don’t need me. So do me the favor and get out of my house.”
-Tooru just stared at you, your words twisting the dagger in his heart.
-He messed up, he messed up big time.
- “You saw me with Yui...”
-You were fighting back tears as you looked at him, the sight of your underclassman hovering over him flashing behind your eyelids as you closed your eyes.
- “Y/N she means nothing I swear, it was nothing, she came at me I-”
- “Why w-would I care what she meant? W-why would I-I care with w-who you make out with?”
- “I care what you think of me!”
-You were full on crying at this point, Tooru shedding his own tears as his fears started clawing their way up his throat.
-He was losing you.
- “I care what you think of me because I love you. I care what image I create in your pretty mind because I hope that maybe at some point you will look at me in a different light. What I did last Saturday was fucked up and there are no excuses but I’m sorry, I truly am. Please Y/N. I can’t- I can’t lose you. Please....”
-You wanted to hold onto your anger longer, wanted to truly stay mad at him for more because at the end of the day he deserved it but you couldn’t.
-You launched yourself into his arms, burying your face in his chest as your sobs became louder.
-He held you there until your tears ran dry, his arms tight around you as if he was afraid you would slip through his fingers at any moment.
Terushima Yuuji
-You knew him from middle school.
-Before the piercings.
-Before the dyed hair.
-Before the douchebag attitude.
-And before the ocean of girls coming and going in his life.
-It affected your friendship but you managed to survive it.
-Some girls were just too crazy and possessive, harassing you to leave him alone and that he was theirs.
-Terushima always gave them a glare and a cold “we’re done” before proceeding to hang out with you non stop for a week straight.
-It was your bro code that no matter what, a relationship would not change who you were to each other.
-That no one would get in between your friendship.
-Lucky for you, your love for Yuuji pushed away any potential boyfriends that came waltzing into your life.
-You are attractive, smart and cute plus you’re funny so many boys tried to go out with you, but you being in love with your best friend prevented you from reciprocating their feelings.
-Yuuji however changed girlfriends every two days and you were there to witness everything.
-He came barging in your room every Tuesday and Friday to talk about the new girl that threw herself at him or about the hook up he had during the weekend.
-It hurt you seeing him with others but his short relationships gave you hope that he hadn’t fallen in love yet and that you still had a chance.
-Then she came.
-She was a year younger than the two of you and she was the only one that lasted for longer than a week.
-She knew you two were close and whenever you tagged along with them she was seething with anger.
-She became territorial to the point that Yuuji should tell her to calm down.
-But he wouldn’t and that let to multiple fights and in the end you two stopped talking to each other.
-The last straw was during one of his games.
-You are the manager so you are down at the court with them.
-Terushima hit the ground really hard after he tried to save the ball and he hurt his shoulder.
-He was escorted to the bench where you put some ice on his slightly swollen shoulder and wiped away some sweat from his forehead.
-He may have acted like a douche to you but he was still your best friend and you loved him so you couldn’t be cold to him for too long.
-His girl lost her shit.
-After the game she started yelling at you and calling you a ‘home-wrecker’ and ‘man-stealer’ along with some really offensive stuff.
-You were putting her in her place when Yuuji came out and saw the whole scene.
-She immediately ran to him spewing nonsense and lies about how you came at her for no reason.
-The face of pure shock and disbelief on your face was enough for Terushima to understand that she was lying.
-All those other times his ‘girl’ said or acted like a bitch to you came crashing down he was hit by a train of realization.
-He suddenly was aware of your fight and the possibility of losing you, so he finally acted.
- “I don’t know what happened but don’t talk about Y/N like that.”
-She looked so offended for a second before snapping....literally.
- “You defend her over me? Your girlfriend? She is nothing but a sad little girl who wants to steal you away from me! And you’re encouraging her! She’ll start believing she has a chance with you!!!”
-He just let out a growl and pushed past her wrapping an arm around your waist and bringing you into a hug.
- “Maybe she does.”
-The both of you left the gym and went to blow off some steam at the water fountains.
-After your exchanged apologies you started to mess around throwing playful jabs.
- “Did you mean it? What you said to her.”
- “You mean about us? If you want it to be true than yeah if you don’t then just ignore it.”
-You leaped into his arms squeezing the life out of him as your voice came out in a muffled jumble of words “I want it to be true.”

Egg the Cat
Chapter 2
Read on Ao3
-
Nancy flinched as an engine revved, a sleek blue muscle car pulling into the lot.
Steve let himself focus on it. It was better than dwelling on his fucking essay, his impending shitty night spent with Barb’s parents, like he didn’t feel horrible enough about that whole situation.
He watched the car pull into a space at the front of the lot.
California plates.
“Who’s that?” Steve could picture Nancy wrinkling her nose as she said it, too focused on Billy getting out of his car to turn and see it for real.
He narrowed his eyes at a young redhead getting out of the passenger side.
Billy hadn’t said anything about a sibling.
“That’s Billy. I met him last night.” He finally looked back at Nancy as Billy set off towards the school. “He found Egg downtown.”
Nancy’s eyebrows flew nearly to her hairline.
“Steve, I’m sorry, I forgot. Is she okay?”
“Yeah, Billy got her safe and sound. Still don’t know how she got out, though. Let alone made it all the way downtown.” He locked his car as they headed towards the high school, the warning bell sounding through the parking lot.
He reached for Nancy’s hand, his heart soaring when she let him take it.
Sometimes she said his hands were too clammy.
He walked her to her first class, kissing her softly by the door.
Billy glared at the tiny brunette sitting in front of him.
Steve hadn’t said anything about having a fucking girlfriend last night.
And really, Billy should’ve known. He’s a hot guy, living in a town of not a lot of hot guys. It makes sense some girl would snap him up.
It just felt like a slap in the face.
It’s not like Billy thought he actually had a chance with Steve, but now all of his daydreams, any of his dirty thoughts featuring one Steve Harrington were gonna be tainted, by this prissy fucking bitch.
Billy just spent all of his AP biology lecture boring holes into the back of her head.
He didn’t really give a fuck if people noticed, thought it was weird. He was too busy channeling all of his anger, all of his hatred onto this skinny little priss.
He hoped she could feel it, like maybe his anger gaze gave off palpable heat or something.
Based on how many times she stuck her hand up to answer every question posed by the teacher, no, she couldn’t feel the heat of Billy’s rage.
He couldn’t get out of there fast enough, only to find they shared all three of their morning classes.
Because fuck Billy.
And then he had to watch, had to stand there like a stupid gay fucking idiot as Steve lifted nancy off her feet, and made out with her against her locker.
He stomped past, hoping to go unnoticed by-
“Billy!”
Fuck.
He stopped dead in his tracks, taking a few deep breaths before turning, plastering his best I am so charming and I don’t hate your girlfriend for no reason smile on his face.
Steve was all sunshiney again today. Billy mentally kicked the little voice in his head saying that sunshine is for you.
“Hey, man! How’s your first day going?” Steve had his girl tucked under his arm. She looked like a frail little bird. Billy hoped Steve’s cat ate her for breakfast one day soon.
“Well, you got mad at me last night when I called this place a shithole, so I’m just going to heavily imply it.” Steve laughed, his head tipping back a little, eyes crinkling at the corners.
Billy tried to think about his dad, tied to think about the shelf bruises on his back.
And then Steve was pressing a sheet of paper into his hand, and their fingers fucking brushed and Billy tried, tried to think of a broken arm and cops at his house, and not holding fucking hands with Steve Harrington.
He studied the paper, just to look somewhere that wasn’t Steve’s eyes. A lighter shade of brown in the fluorescent lights, a shade bordering on green.
Come and get sheetfaced.
“Hawkins parties will probably be lame compared to what you’re familiar with, but I mean, it should be fun.” Billy just nodded, eyes trained on the little ghost. “We’ll be there. Nancy and I.” Nancy. That’s a stupid fucking name. “Y’know, if you aren’t too cool for us by then.”
Steve was smirking at him a little when Billy finally looked up.
“I’m already cooler than you, Harrington.” Fuck. It sounded way meaner than Billy had wanted, sounded actually rude, not like a little ribbing. Not like a little tongue-in-cheek reference to last night. Cold shit.
But then Steve tossed his head back, and he laughed, a full belly laugh, and he clapped Billy on the shoulder, and Billy has never felt gayer in his entire life.
“Harsh, man. Real harsh. Wait ‘til I tell Egg you said that, she’ll never want to see you again .” And Steve was still smiling at him, and he had maybe, alluded to Billy seeing his cat again, which meant seeing Steve outside of school, and Nancy was looking down the hall, like this conversation was below her pay grade, and Billy wanted.
“See, that’s why I’m cooler than you. I don’t go telling my cat all my lame drama.”
“That’s because you don’t have a cat,” Steve said playfully, his face falling a bit. “Wait, you don’t have a cat, do you?” Billy shrugged.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” And Steve smiled at him, and the bell rang, and Nancy rolled her eyes before pressing herself out from underneath Steve’s arm, and Steve’s big sweet eyes snapped onto her.
“I’ve got to get to Calculus.” Billy’s heart sank. They shared four classes so far.
Steve just leaned down to kiss her, one hand cradling the side of her face. Billy looked away.
“I love you.” He had to suppress a snort as Nancy said it back, her voice all pitchy and off.
But Steve reached out to clap Billy on the shoulder again.
“I better see you tonight!” And he was off down the hall, and Billy, once again, made a point not to look at his ass.
-
“You gotta be home by nine-thirty, okay, Shitbird?” Max rolled her eyes again.
“Billy, I know what time I need to be home by.”
“Just making sure, because you know if you don’t make curfew, I’m somehow gonna be blamed for it.” Billy had only gotten out of playing babysitter this evening when Max had nearly thrown a full tantrum at the idea of trick-or-treating with adult supervision while she’s trying to make friends.
She just looked at him sharply, her lips pursing a bit.
“I’ll be home.” Her voice had an edge to it. Billy didn’t really know how to take it.
“Be safe.” She didn’t acknowledge him, just got out of the car, a little Michael Myers heading into the swarm of children.
He pulled down the road, the party address only a few blocks from where Max was meeting her friends.
He slammed a beer the minute he entered the party, didn’t want to be sober for a second of this shitfest.
Steve had been right. This party didn’t hold a fuckin’ candle to what he frequented down in Cali.
He tried to make the best of it, beat the keg stand record, found some stupid jocks that were more than happy to parade around him all night.
He just had to get to that sweet spot, drunk enough he would actually get hard with a girl, but not too drunk he’d get whiskey dick. He didn’t need that to be his reputation in this shitty town.
He was being pulled through the crowd by some freckly fucker dressed as the guy from Karate Kid. Max had made him take her to that movie six times in the theaters. Billy had slept through it every time.
He was feeling pretty okay, the beer settling into his system, giving him a warm buzz as he studied the party. Maybe he could find some punk kids, score some weed or-
Steve Harrington.
The karate guy had shoved him in front of Steve, had said, guess who’s the new Keg King, Harrington?
Steve was glaring at the guy, drawn up to his full height, shoulders squared, all of that melting as he turned to Billy, smiling warmly at him.
Fucking sunshine.
“Nice job, Dude!” And Steve took Billy’s hand, and he pulled him into a one-armed fucking hug.
Billy was absolutely stunned. Maybe a little bit hard as he pat his hand against Steve’s back. Felt his muscles moving under his jacket.
But then Steve pulled back, his eyes trailing after his fucking girlfriend, and he was gone, followed her into the kitchen.
Billy wanted to tear out his fucking hair.
He went the opposite way as Steve, pushing through the sweaty crowd.
He really didn’t need to see Steve coddling his girl.
He shoved his way into the backyard, vaulting the low fence on the porch, making his way out of the yellowed light spilling out of the house.
He pulled out a cigarette, lighting it quickly.
Fucking idiot. You knew you couldn’t have any fucking boy in this goddamn town.
But Billy had come into this town really not expecting any boy to actually catch his eye.
Not like Steve has.
Steve with his stupid big eyes, and his stupid big hair, and his stupid cat named fucking Egg. Who names a cat Egg? That’s a dumb fucking name.
Billy lit his next cigarette with the dying remains of the last one.
He thought about calling it quits, heading home early.
But it wasn’t even ten yet, and really, he needed to fool around with a chick tonight. He needed to establish himself as a lady killer.
Sleep with one girl, and the rumors would build enough that he probably wouldn’t have to fuck any others, just not deny it when any girl claims they had a wild night of passion.
It was safer that way. Gave him some cushion.
Then, if any of the lies began to unravel, he’ll just fuck another one, and let the rumor mill do its trick.
Besides, he can find a brunette, make her take it from behind. If he’s lucky, the party’ll be loud enough he can tune out her moans, picture someone else, picture him -
The backdoor slammed against the wall as someone stomped outside.
Billy just took another deep drag, hoped he wouldn’t be noticed.
But, of course-
Steve didn’t even ask, just took the cigarette out of Billy’s mouth, taking a long fucking drag.
He rolled his shoulders, let his head fall back, blowing the smoke out towards the sky.
“Y’know, I fucking quit smoking because of her. Not like I did it a lot, but still .” Billy just stayed quiet. He really didn’t want to talk about Steve’s fucking girlfriend. “Because I actually cared .” Oh, now wait a minute.
“What happened?”
Steve shot him a dark look.
“You weren’t inside?”
Billy just gestured to the cigarette Steve was now sucking on once again. Billy kept his focus on Steve’s left earlobe. Didn’t care to get a semi just from looking at his lips.
“Lovers’ quarrel?”
“Does repeatedly being called bullshit and having her tell you she doesn’t love you count as a lovers’ quarrel?”
“Ouch.”
“Yeah.” Steve tossed the cigarette to the ground, stomping it out. Billy didn’t know what to say.
What he wanted to say was you ever sucked dick? And then maybe take Steve’s mind off of everything by fucking his face, but that felt a little forward, felt a little gay.
“ Fuck .”
Oh, shit.
Steve was fucking, Steve was gonna cry. Standing outside with Billy, barely lit by the light filtering through the small frosted bathroom window.
“ Next week .” Steve’s voice cracked. “We would’ve been together one year next week. And she was pretending .” Steve slumped back against the wall, his face buried in both his hands. “I, I changed everything for her. I stopped seeing my friends because she didn’t like them, I stopped smoking because she said it was gross, I changed who I am as a fucking person. And you know, granted, I am a better person. But I’m different, because of her, and she just, she threw all of it away.”
He sniffed loudly, his shoulders stuttering.
Billy felt like his guts were on fucking fire.
“Fuck her. Fuck her. You are a good guy. And if she’s too much of a bitch to see that, she doesn’t deserve you.” Steve didn’t acknowledge him for a while. Billy just let it be, lit another cigarette.
“I think I’m gonna go home. I wanna see my cat.” Steve sounded like a little kid. Like a heartbroken little kid.
“You good to drive?” And Steve finally pulled his head out of his hands.
His big eyes were shining, his cheeks wet, glistening in the low light.
“I don’t drink anymore. Because she said I’m an asshole when I’m drunk.”
Billy weighed his words carefully.
“I’ve got a bottle of tequila in my car if you wanna stick it to her.” Steve gave him a watery smile.
“You wanna follow me to my place?”

The Things You Give Part 16
eteven Hyde X Reader
Here is part 16! I know it’s a little short, but I’m hoping I can still deliver! Let me know what you think. Tags list is open!
Hyde and the rest of the boys didn’t return home from the party until almost five am. Y/n heard Eric and Hyde stumble their way downstairs and into their respective rooms before hearing Eric’s door quietly shut. So, it was a no surprise when she woke up around nine-thirty, the boys weren’t at the breakfast table.
“Hi Ma,” she greeted Kitty in a chipper tone and sat down next to Red. “Hi, Daddy.”
“Hey, you seem to be feeling better,” Kitty commented and passed her a plate with eggs, bacon, and toast.
“I am. I finally feel like I have my appetite back,” Y/n said and greedily grabbed the plate, ready to dump the contents of it down her throat. Her stomach knotted and rumbled as she started shoveling food into her mouth. She hummed, satisfied.
“Boy, you’re really hungry,” Kitty said. “All that time throwing up, you got to put some stuff back in.
Y/n hummed again, this time in response. “I forgot how good food tastes.”
“So, where are the boys?” Kitty asked as she focused on her own food.
“They went out to a party last night and didn’t get home till late,” Y/n answered casually.
“Well, that explains the noises I heard,” Kitty answered. “Did you go with them?”
“No, why?”
“Because I heard a girl’s voice last night and I thought it was you,” Kitty replied confused.
“What?” Y/n asked, suddenly not hungry anymore.
“What? Steven brought another girl home?” Red asked, annoyed, breaking the tension in the air. “He knows he’s not allowed to bring home any floozies home!”
“He brought home a girl?” Y/n asked, trying not to sound hurt. She shrugged, trying to come off as she didn’t care. She took a couple more bites before she couldn’t take it anymore and dropped her fork on her plate. “I’ll be right back.”
“Oh, honey, don’t tell me you’re feeling sick already,” Kitty asked, worried.
“Maybe. I think I ate too fast,” she lied and excused herself to the basement.
Down on the couch, she caught a blonde sleeping soundly on the couch. Her heart sank once again as she stormed her way into Steven’s room who was sleeping soundly in his bed. It took everything in her to not grab the nearest thing and beat him. Instead, she knelt beside him and gently kissed his lips, waking him.
He gently woke and slowly opened his eyes, grinning when he saw her. Clearly, he was still a little drunk.
“Honey?” she said sweetly.
“Yeah, baby?” he croaked, his morning voice much deeper and dare she say it, very sexy. If she wasn’t seething, she’d want to do it with him right there and then.
“You want to tell me what the hell a girl is doing on the couch?!” she practically yelled.
Steven immediately sat up, sobering up quickly. “What?”
“Look, I know you’re still a little drunk, but there is a blonde bitch on my couch and I’d like to know why,” Y/n said and crossed her arms. “Who is she and what is she doing here?”
“That’s Amber,” he replied and sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
“Oh, Amber?” she couldn’t help but show her green side. “That doesn’t explain why the hell Amber is on my couch.”
“You think I brought her home?” Steven asked, feeling insulted.
“That’s why I’m asking.”
“I can’t believe you’d think I’d do that to you!”
“Well, you still haven’t answered the question!”
“No, I didn’t bring her home!” he raised his voice, now standing in front of her. “Kelso brought her here and then ditched her when she passed out.”
“That doesn’t make any sense,” Y/n argued. “Why would Kelso bring a girl here and then ditch her?”
“I don’t know! We were all pretty sloshed last night,” Hyde answered. “God, why are you interrogating me?”
Now catching sight of his full face, she caught a slight red smudge across his lips. She could feel her heart physically breaking. “What’s that on your face?”
“What?” he asked and rubbed at his cheek.
“No,” she replied and brought a handheld mirror, that was laying on his bedside table, to his face. “What the hell is on your mouth? Is that lipstick?!”
Hyde was confused until he saw his reflection and did, indeed, see something red smudged on her face. His eyes widened in fear as he lowered the mirror and met her glazed eyes. If he were being honest, he barley remembered last night and didn’t know where that came from. “Wait, y/n. I can explain—”
Before she let him, she ran out the room to the couch where the girl was sleeping and looked at her face. She had a matching shade of lipstick, faded on her lips. She gasped and turned to him.
“How could you?!” she screamed at him, awaking Amber.
“What’s going on?” she slurred, valley girl accent mixed with sleepiness shined through.
“You kissed my boyfriend you slut!” Y/n screamed and lunged at her, but Steven caught her around her waist and pulled her back.
Amber scrambled for her shoes and her coat, running out the door. Y/n watched her leave and then slowly turned to Steven with her hands on her hips. She was fighting tears as she stared at the man before her; scared and trembling. Hyde knew he was about to lose her if he didn’t act quickly.
“Y/n, baby, please let me explain,” he said, shaking and reached out for her, but she quickly pulled away. Hurt flashed across his face, but quickly went away when he saw the tears racing down her cheeks. “I didn’t kiss her.”
“Then why do you have her lipstick on your lips?” she asked, her voice breaking.
He wanted to get on his knees and beg for her forgiveness, but he didn’t know what he would be begging her forgiveness for. He couldn’t remember last night. All he remembered were flashing and blurring lights, lots of alcohol, and chicks draping over him.
“I…don’t know,” he answered honestly. “I don’t remember anything from last night.”
She let out a choked sob and turned away from him. “You made out with some girl and don’t even remember it?”
“How could you assume that I made out with a chick without me remembering?” he asked, trying to be logical. “What if she kissed me?”
She turned back to him, her eyes red. “And did you let her?”
“I don’t think so,” he answered and screwed his eyes shut, fighting to remember the night before. “I remember her coming up to me and flirting with me, but then I turned away and that’s it. I can’t remember anything else.”
“Well, try,” she snapped.
“Please, doll, you have to believe me,” he begged and grabbed for her hands. “I love you. I would never do that to you.”
“This is exactly what Zack did to me,” she whispered and didn’t even try to choke back a sob. She felt her chest start to collapse on her and she felt her legs grow weak. Hyde’s heart broke at the sight of her and felt an even heavier weight fall on his chest when he knew he couldn’t help her feel better. “I trusted you.”
“You can still trust me,” he said, his voice weak. “I didn’t do anything.”
“The lipstick says otherwise,” she growled and yanked her hands away from his. “I need some air. I can’t even look at you right now.”
She turned to leave and at that moment, Kelso walked through the door wearing fresh new clothes. Y/n pushed passed him without a word and ran up the cement stairs.
Kelso looked to Hyde who looked like he was about to collapse himself. “What happened?” he asked.
“Y/n thinks I cheated on her with that Amber chick,” he replied, legs wobbling. He took a seat on the couch and put his face in his hands, hunching over. “She doesn’t believe me when I say I didn’t. But given the way it looks, I probably wouldn’t believe me neither.”
“Well, that’s cause you didn’t,” Kelso said matter-of-factly and sat down beside him.
“What?”
“She came onto you,” Kelso explained.
“Again, what?”
“Well, Amber, for some reason, wanted you instead of me, so all night she was following you around like a lost puppy. When you left to use the restroom, that’s when she used the opportunity to get you alone and when she planted one on you, you pushed her away and told her to kick rocks.”
“How do you know that?”
“Well, I saw the whole thing.”
“And why was she here?”
“Because she was too drunk to go home and she couldn’t give Eric her address, so you let her crash here instead,” Kelso responded, knitting his eyebrows together.
Hyde’s eyes began to water, but he quickly covered them by rubbing his eyes and swiped a hand down his face. “Did Forman see anything too?”
“Yeah, he saw the whole thing.”
A light bulb went off in Hyde’s head and he jumped up. “I need you to help me prove that to y/n,” he said.
“How?”
“I don’t know…maybe you and Forman can get her to sit down and listen.”
“You really think that’s going to work?”
“It has to.”
“Alright, well when Forman wakes up, we need to find her,” Hyde said and made his way back to his room to change.
“Sounds like a plan, but first, coffee.”
--Time Skip—
Y/n didn’t even know how she got there, but she somehow found herself driving to the water tower. She felt safest up there; isolated, alone, and quiet. Where the wind allowed her to weep and sob, wiping her tears as it carried the sounds away into the air. Where she felt the sun kiss her and envelope her in its warm embrace and the moon to shine brightly down at her, as if listening to her cries and rants.
She climbed her way up the tower and before she could sit down, she broke down into ugly and shuddering sobs. She trusted him. She trusted him. The feeling of his safety lied. It lied! The timer, the feeling, the love, all of it!
She brought a hand to her stomach and wondered what was going to happen now. She thought she felt hurt before, but this kind of pain was worse than she’s ever felt. She never thought this man would ever betray her or make her feel low as she did now. Her chest and stomach hurt, and she couldn’t tell if the nausea was coming from the crying or the pregnancy.
Tears continued to rain down her face as she looked up at the sky, asking God why? She had so many questions she wanted to ask, but her heart and soul wouldn’t allow her to. Why did she get stuck in situations with these kind of men? Why was she so stupid like this? Why did she have to fall in love with hers and brother’s best friend? But all she could think is, why?
She looked back down at herself and noticed how pathetic she must’ve looked. How embarrassed she was just to be up there, feeling alone, scared, humiliated, and most of all: hurt. How could she let another guy do this to her and worst of all, knock her up? Now, he was really going to leave her.
“Hey,” a soft voice said, pulling y/n out of her tumultuous thoughts.
“Hey,” she responded, watching as Donna pulled herself onto the water tower. “You hear what happened, huh?”
“Yep,” Donna answered and sat next to y/n.
“How did you know where to find me?”
Donna scoffed. “It was either here or Mt. Hump. Thought I’d check here first.”
Y/n couldn’t help but give her a half smile; A smile of appreciation. “Where is he?”
“Looking for you.”
“I don’t want to see him right now.”
“Maybe you don’t, but you should really hear him out,” Donna said gently. “He has all of us looking for you.”
Elena groaned. “I’m a mess. I don’t want to see anybody right now.”
“Please?” she asked. “He really needs to explain what happened.”
“What’s there to explain?” Elena asked and wished she had a beer in her hand. “He kissed another chick.”
“Uhm, no. That’s actually not what happened.”
“Oh, he told you too?” Elena wiped at her face and glared at the trees in front of her.
“No, actually Eric and Kelso did.”
“What?” Elena asked and turned to Donna. “What does that mean?”
“Eric and Kelso saw the whole thing.”
“And?”
Donna sighed and turned to look at y/n fully. “He was telling you the truth. I really think you should go talk to Eric and Kelso. They saw the whole thing.”
Y/n looked down at her shoes, fighting tears. “I haven’t even told him yet.”
“Well, now’s a good time, don’t you think?” Donna asked and brushed y/n’s hair off her shoulder. “It’s gives you a chance to explain your crazy hormones.”
“Hey, I didn’t overreact.” Donna gave her a look. “Okay, maybe a smidgen.”
“Look, you had every right to think and feel the way you did, but you didn’t have to attempt a murder on her.”
“Yeah, that’s my bad.”
“Come on, let’s go.”
Y/n followed Donna down the ladder only to be met with the group, minus Hyde, waiting for her at the bottom. “What the hell is this? I thought I was meeting everyone back at the basement?”
“Not yet,” Eric said, coming forward. “Y/n, you have to believe Hyde. He didn’t kiss that girl. She came onto him and when she did, he pushed her away.”
Y/n’s face softened. “Really?”
“Yes,” he responded. “Kelso and I saw the whole thing.”
“Oh,” y/n sighed and sat down on the hood of the car. “Well, what do you guys expect me to believe when her lipstick is on his mouth?”
“I know. I would’ve thought the same thing,” Jackie answered and sat down next to her. “But Steven wouldn’t do that.”
“Yeah, he always said he doesn’t need the drama in his life to handle two chicks like when Kelso juggled Laurie and Jackie,” Donna chuckled.
“Hey, that was a bad time for me,” Michael defended.
“And then Hyde would say, ‘Bad for you, hilarious for us,’” Fez said, mocking the best American accent he could.
“I guess you guys are right,” Y/n said shamefully.
“Yeah, you should probably apologize to him,” Kelso said. “From what he told me, you went crazy when you saw Amber.”
Y/n scoffed. “I did not. I just don’t like other bitches coming onto him.”
“He said you lunged at her,” Eric deadpanned.
“Okay, yeah, well that I did, but—”
“You’re jealous,” Kelso smiled. “You love him! You think of another woman being all up in business and you lose it!”
“Okay, okay, that’s enough,” Y/n said waving her hand.
“But you loooooovvee him,” Kelso sang-song.
“Kelso, stop,” Y/n warned.
Kelso laughed and leaned against the car. “That girl was hot though. I wonder if she’s hot in bed.”
Y/n shook her head and rubbed her temples.
“I mean, I can’t believe that she chose Hyde over me,” he continued, ignoring y/n’s death glare. “I’m the one with the good looks, not him.”
“Yeah,” Y/n responded. “But Hyde’s the one with the brains.”
“Yeah, but that’s not what chicks want.”
“What do we want then?” Donna challenged him.
“Well, you know, a good lookin’ guy who can please his woman,” Kelso answered as if it was obvious.
“You know what girls want right?” Y/n asked. “They don’t want a guy like you, who by the way, I’ve heard you’re not the best in the sack—”
“Jackie!” Kelso screeched, turning towards Jackie who was leaning against the car.
“What?!” she asked. “I didn’t say anything! Recently.”
“Jackie didn’t have to say anything,” Y/n answered. “You’ve slept your way around the whole town that almost every woman in this town have something in common with each other. Women talk, man.”
“Well, you know what, y/n? Guys don’t like girls like you: loud and not slutty,” Kelso retaliated.
“Is that supposed to be an insult?” Y/n laughed. “Alright, girls like guys that know how to read.”
“Guys like girls who aren’t bitches.”
“Girls like guys who’s thing isn’t small!” Y/n countered and narrowed her eyes. “Yeah, I’ve seen you when you streak, Kelso. It is not impressive as you say it is. Hyde definitely outdoes you.”
Donna laughed, Jackie exclaimed in shock while laughing, Fez yelled, “Burn!” and Eric screeched, causing y/n to smirk at Kelso.
“Yeah! Well,” Kelso countered off, cheeks puffing and reddening. “Guys don’t like chubby girls!”
Y/n’s smile dropped instantly. “That’s not funny! That’s not even true!”
Kelso mimicked the smirk y/n was wearing a minute prior. “But it is!” he continued. “You used to be really hot but here lately, you’re starting to puff up. Maybe you should jump on a treadmill, huh Chubsters?”
Y/n’s blood started to boil. She knew she was starting to look the slightest swollen, but she didn’t think anyone would notice, but of course Kelso notices everything on a woman’s body. That pig.
Kelso noticed that he was getting under her skin, so he kept going. “Yeah, I’m surprised Hyde hasn’t noticed how puffy your cheeks have gotten.”
Y/n gently brought her hands up to her burning face. She wanted to hit him—no, she wanted to puke on him, but she couldn’t control it like that. Donna and Jackie noticed her demeanor and shot Kelso a warning look, but of course he didn’t even acknowledge them.
“Don’t you bring Hyde into this!” Y/n practically screamed and Fez had to jump in front of y/n. With them so immersed in the conversation, no one heard the El Camino pull up behind them.
“Hey, hey calm down, now,” Fez whispered in her ear.
“No, I will not calm down!”
“Why? Does that bother you?” Kelso smirked.
“Kelso, I swear to God, if you don’t stop, I’m going to hit you so hard, your ancestors are going to feel it!” Y/n growled.
“It might actually make him smart for once,” Donna grumbled to Jackie who snickered.
“Why does it bother you so much anyway?” Kelso genuinely asked.
“Because I’m pregnant, you ass!” Y/n’s eyes widened as she realized what she just said. She looked over to see Donna and Jackie giving her the same look while Fez and Kelso stared at her open mouthed. She didn’t even want to turn around to see Eric’s reaction.
“You’re pregnant?”
Y/n spun around to see Hyde standing behind her stiff as a board, eyes frantically searching her face. He was silently begging that he misheard.
“Steven,” she gasped. “What’re you doing here?”
“Looking for you,” he answered quietly. “You’re pregnant?” he repeated.
The air around them was so still that y/n could hear her own heart beating in his ears. With a shaky breath, she replied under her breath, “Yes.”
Behind them, Eric was fuming. He’d never felt rage like this before and could’ve sworn, all he needed to do was turn green and he’d be the Hulk.
“You got my sister pregnant, you son of a bitch?!”
“What—” Before Hyde could finish his sentence, Eric had him on the ground, punching him anywhere he could get his fist to land.
“Eric! Stop!” Y/n yelled and ran over to her twin brother, trying to get him off Steven.
Steven laid there, arms shielding his face as he tried to dodge Eric’s punches. For someone being as skinny as him, he had very sharp and painful blows.
“Get off of him!” Y/n continued to shout as she tugged on Eric’s shoulder, but he flicked her hand off him as if she was a pest. “Eric, stop! You’re going to hurt him!”
“I’m pretty sure that’s the idea,” Fez said and recoiled when y/n turned around to glare at him.
“Are you guys not going to do anything?!” she asked exasperated. Kelso and Fez still stood there in shock, not able to move.
Hyde managed to grab Eric’s fists and twist them, causing a painful shriek to escape him as he fell to Steven’s side. Steven quickly got up backed away from Eric.
“Forman, you need to calm down!” he shouted as Eric stood.
“No, I am not going to calm down!” he yelled. “I can’t believe you did this!”
“Hey, it’s not just him!” Y/n defended. “It takes two, you know.”
“I don’t even want to look at you right now,” Eric spat at his twin and turned back to Hyde. “I told you to be careful! Now crap is really going to hit the fan!”
“Eric, you need to calm down!” Donna called out to her irate boyfriend.
“How are you so calm?!” Eric’s eyes somehow grew bigger. “You knew, didn’t you?!”
“Yes, I did,” she answered calmly. “I was the first one she told.”
“And you didn’t tell me anything?!”
“No, because she asked that I didn’t.”
Eric turned to y/n. “Throughout all of this, why haven’t I been the one you can come to? You came to me for everything and now it’s like you want to keep me out completely.”
“It’s not that, Eric. It’s just…I didn’t know how to process this myself. I’m scared and I don’t know how I’m going to tell Mom and Dad!”
“You’re going to tell Dad?” Eric laughed. “Give me a heads up so that I’m not around.”
“Why are you being such a dillhole?” Y/n seethed. “Look, I know you’re beyond pissed right now, but I could really use your help.”
“Why should I?” Eric snapped.
“Because when you and Donna thought she was pregnant last year, I did whatever I could to help and make sure you didn’t get slaughtered by dad!”
“Well, clearly, you didn’t do a great job because I still got my ass kicked!”
“Dad was going to send you off to military school and I begged him not to,” Y/n pointed out. “I needed you here then and I need you now.”
Eric’s eyes softened but did not leave her face.
“Please, Eric,” she begged and grabbed his hand. “I need my twin by my side throughout all of this. You can’t leave again.”
Eric stared in his twin’s tear-filled y/c/e and turned away before he could give in. “I…I need to be alone.”
He turned away and stormed back into his car, driving off. Y/n sighed and turned around to face the others. Steven was staring at her while Donna and Jackie awkwardly stared at the ground. Kelso and Fez anxiously waited for anyone to say something.
“Look, Steven, I—”
“How far along are you?” he cut in.
Y/n swallowed hard. “Four weeks.”
Steven exasperated sighed. “You’re a month along and you didn’t even tell me?!”
“I tried!” she defended. “But every time I did, we kept getting interrupted.”
Steven turned away from her and ran a hand down his face. “Is it even mine?”
“Oh, dude,” Kelso sighed, shaking his head and nudged Fez. “Not even I did that.”
“You did try to deny it,” Fez responded. “Went as far as to run away out the bathroom window at the hub.”
Jackie nudged Fez in the ribs causing both of them to shut up.
Y/n’s jaw dropped. “How can you even say that?! Of course, it is, you dillhole!”
Hyde was silent for a minute before he shook his head. “God, why is it that every time something major happens, we have a freaking audience?!”
“I don’t know, Steven,” she sighed. “I guess God thinks it’s hilarious this way.”
“I don’t know how to take this,” he said and started pacing. “I’m going to be a father. We’re only eighteen and we’re going to be parents.”
“I know.”
“What are we going to do?” he asked, panic lacing its way through his voice.
“I don’t know yet. That’s why we need to sit down and discuss this.”
“Yeah, I don’t know if I can do that right now,” he and fished for his keys in his pocket.
Y/n knitted her eyebrows together. “What do you mean?”
“I have to go,” he replied without looking at her as he got in his car.
“Where are you going?”
“I need to think,” he said shortly and quickly got in his car and drove off, leaving y/n with everyone else.
“Oh, God, y/n, I’m so sorry,” Kelso said gently.
“Sorry for what?” Y/n asked, her voice cracking. “It’s not like he’s leaving or anything. He just needs some time to think. And I think…I’m going to do the same.”
As she grabbed her keys from her coat pocket, Donna stopped her. “Are you okay? Do you need us for anything?”
Y/n quickly shook her head before she could start crying. “No, I just need to be alone right now.”
Donna nodded and watched y/n get in her car and drive off.
Jackie nudged Donna gently. “You think this going to go down smoothly?”
“No,” Donna responded honestly. “Not at all.”

Missing
There are seven holes. Seven. But they aren't seven different nests, they're tunnels, with seven openings to the surface of the Earth. You only know that because Eleven spent the whole night focused on finding them, seated in the living room of Joyce's place, a piece of fabric covering her eyes. The map from before remained on the floor beside her, and she reached out to draw where the tunnels reach. You barely had any sleep, just the pair of hours you slept with your head on Billy's shoulder, seated on the couch, but someone's voice woke you up.
Relief fills your heart when the morning comes. During the night, you could only think about those things lurking around. After a quick shower, and using one of Eleven's shirt, you go to the kitchen and decide to have breakfast there, where you can be alone. Eating a bowl of cereal, you run a hand through your hair, trying to understand how are you going back to the pool today and act like none of this is happening.
“Hey, princess,” Billy says, coming into the kitchen. Hair is still wet and wearing only his jacket. “Are you ok?”
“I'm trying to be.” Pushing the bowl away, you watch as he makes himself the same meal you had. “Wondering how am I going to work today.”
“Wanna stay here? I can tell Anthony that you're sick. If he even shows up.”
“No. It'll be worse if I stay.” You're confused, not sure what's the best or what's worse. But at least in the pool you'll have something normal going on.
“Hey, you two,” Joyce says as she comes in. Her voice gets your attention, and when you look at her after exchanging a glance with Billy, you see that Hopper is right behind her, arms crossed and eyebrows furrowed together. “How are you two doing?”
“Uhm... Good.” It sounds like a question. Joyce sits at the table, with Hopper standing behind her. He has the chief face on, and you have no idea why. “Everything alright? Are we in trouble or something?” Gesturing at you and Billy, and cross your legs, an eye on the clock because you'll still need to stop by home to get the swimsuit.
“No, of course not. It's just that the kids were talking about something and–”
“Are you two living together?" Hopper speaks up, swallowing Joyce's words. She gives him a hard stare, and there's some kind of conversation going on through facial expressions that you can't understand.
“Yes.” You answer, not sure why you're in this situation in the first place. You feel like you're having the talk with Diane all over again. Diane. You have to call her, just to make sure everything is alright. “Why?”
“There were some rumors running around that–”
“That Billy Hargrove got some chick pregnant.” Hopper again. But this time Joyce slaps his arm.
“We agreed you'd let me do this.” She whispers.
“Then just get to the damn point.” He snaps back.
With wide eyes, you look at Billy. He doesn't seem bothered by this, peacefully eating his cereal. There's a smile on his lips that he tries to hold back, but you know him far too well now. You can see it. He's having fun.
“Look, guys, Uhm... These rumors started after I fainted on the pool, but it was from heat exhaustion, so...” Deciding to just end whatever this is, you speak up, kicking Billy's leg and whispering to him. “Say something.”
“(Y/N), honey, do your parents know about that?”
This makes you laugh, but then you remember Joyce doesn't know about your relationship, or better saying, the lack of it. “No, and I don't plan on doing that. But my aunt Diane does.”
“And she allowed it?” Hopper takes his time pronouncing every word as if this is absurd. “You're lucky you're not my daughter.”
“Hopper, just...” Joyce mumbles, her voice fading. “We just wanted to make sure you guys are... You know... Going somewhere with this. Living together is something really big and important to do.”
“I'll only say two things.” Billy finally makes his presence known, getting up and throwing his bowl in the sink. “First of all, I'm planning on marrying (Y/N). Second, we better go now or we'll be late. Again.”
There's a weird buzz in your ears as Billy takes your hand and starts pulling you with him. Joyce and Hopper have wide eyes, mouth half-open, in shock. You're not that different, and all your body is able to do is keep following Billy outside and to his car. You're silently looking through the window as he drives, but you're doing that on purpose, just to get back at him for saying that out of the blue.
“Aren't you gonna say anything?” He asks parking in front of the house.
“Absolutely not.” Stepping out of the car, you don't wait for him, heading inside. “If you really wanna do what you said, I'll patiently wait until you propose, Hargrove.” Turning around just enough to wink at him, you bite back a smile.
You're quick to get ready and manage not to be late. The song is blasting when Billy pulls over on his parking spot, and the moment the song is gone, you hear the chattering, noticing three police cars.
Your heart skips a beat when you leave the car, taking a deep breath. “Hey,” Billy calls, taking your hand. “Let's check what happened before jumping to conclusions, ok?”
“Ok.” Holding his arm, you move to the entrance, where a small crowd gathers. Hopper is here, and by the messy way of his clothes, he had to run over here. He immediately notices you and Billy, a sad look on his face. And that's when you see Monica, running a hand through her hair, tears glistening on her cheeks.
“Mon?” Calling, you let go of Billy and runs to her. Monica breaks a little bit when she sees you, and you're quick to hug her. “Mon, what happened?”
“It's Jason. My cousin is missing, (Y/N).” She cries on your shoulder, and you close your eyes tight because the first thing that comes to your head is probably what got him. The Demodogs. “He went out yesterday to buy dinner a-and his mom called mine saying he was taking long and...” You pull away, holding her hands. “...that was early evening yesterday. And he's still missing. The family spent the whole night looking for him and–”
“Mon, I'm sure we'll find him.” It's hard to lie. It's even harder not to break down in front of her. “Maybe he felt bad and fainted or something like that. We'll find him.”
“I hope so.”
“I'll drive you home, ok? Billy can keep the pools safe for one day.”
When she nods, drying off some tears, you make your way over him, who's talking to Hopper. He probably already knows, but you try to keep a straight face.
“Come here, princess.” He opens his arms and you don't even hesitate, hugging him tightly. “I'm so sorry. But we'll find him. The party is already aware of everything.” Whispering on my ear, Billy places a kiss on the top of your hair.
“I...” Getting rid of the single tear that escaped your efforts to hold it back, you pull away. “I'll take her home, she's very shaken. Can you just keep an eye–”
“Keep an eye on the kids, of course.” He bends over to kiss you, and your arms, almost automatically, move to be around his neck. “I'll pick you up after work, ok? I love you.”
“I love you.” It still makes you blush to hear those words, but you absolutely love to say it back. After one last kiss, you part ways.
Monica talks as you drive to her place, sharing memories with her cousin. Some of them you already know, but you don't stop her, laughing and making silly comments, trying to keep her mind away from the fact that Jason is missing.
Your mind also starts remembering. Obviously, you didn't have all the time around Jason that Monica had, but he was one of the first people you met when you got here. He's always smiling, carrying his siblings around, always complaining, but always happy to be with them. Jason is funny, even when he's the only one who actually gets his jokes.
Jason is missing.
Demidogs need a lot of food. An almost 6 feet tall male human has a lot of meat.
Shaking your head lightly, you push these thoughts away. No breaking down now. Monica needs you strong, to keep her strong too. Her family is either at Jason's or still looking, so you're alone. Both of you stay seated on her bed, and you give her your shoulder when she starts crying again. He's gone for one night and she's already losing it... If anything bad happens...
Her parents return home a couple of hours later, thankful to you for taking her back home. You drag her into the living room, turning the TV on this random movie and trying to convince her to pay some attention. You can hear her parents in the kitchen, making lunch, but you also hear when her mother cries, the low, cracking voice as she talks to her husband. It's getting hard by the minute to stay here, pretending you don't know what probably happened, but if you cry, if you start doubting Jason is ok, Monica will break apart.
A knock on the door, an unusually loud and frenetic knock, gets your attention. Looking over your shoulder, you see as Monica's father goes to answer it.
“Hi. Is (Y/N) here?” You hear a feminine voice, and you soon recognize it's Nancy.
Excusing yourself, you get up. “Yes, she's–”
“Hey.” You go to the front door, seeing Nancy and two cars in the sidewalk, many eyes looking at you. “Something wrong?”
“Sorry, but we need you. Uhm... Maxine is sick. We need to have a doctor check on her.”
“What?” You exclaim, running a hand through your hair. “Mon.” Calling her, you quickly make your way back to the living room. “I'm so sorry, but Maxine is feeling ill, I have to go. But I promise I'll call you later, ok?”
“Sure. Go help.” She says, nodding and clearing her throat since her voice is all clouded by her crying.
“Stay calm, honey. Jason is alright, I'm sure.” Another lie. You shouldn't make promises you don't know if you can keep. Giving her a quick hug, you run outside, muttering a goodbye to Mon's father as Nancy does the same.
“We'll go looking for him.” She says in a low voice as you move toward the cars. “We don't stand still when shit happens.”
Her choice of words makes you raise your eyebrows. You never heard her saying anything like that. “Thanks.” Muttering, you seat shotgun in Steve's car as she goes to Jonathan's. There are four kids on the back seat, fighting for some more space. You're happy to see Max is alright. For a moment, you thought she was really sick.
You park in the woods, and there are already some people here. Everyone but Hopper, because he has to be in the official search party, and Billy. God, you wish Billy was here.
“Alright, let's do this,” Mike says, and he freely starts separating you in groups. “Eleven and Will with me. Lucas, Jonathan, and Robin. Uhm... Max, Steve, and (Y/N). Joyce–”
“Why are you messing up the groups, man. I wanna go with Max.” Lucas complains and Mike rolls his eyes. “Groups of four, as usual.”
“Since when?”
“Alright, just gather in groups, c'mon, guys,” Joyce says, eyeing both her kids until they go to stand by her side, alongside Nancy.
You move to stand with Max and Lucas, and after playing rock, paper, scissors with Robin, Steve comes to your group. You raise your eyebrows at him, trying to get why they had to use that method to choose a group. “Nobody wants to be with these two lovebirds.” He says when he's close enough.
“That's something I can understand.” There's no doubt Max and Lucas are into each other, but they're constantly fighting. It's funny to watch, actually.
“Let's get started then, guys. Be careful, pay attention to the radios, and let's find Jason.” Joyce announces, taking over Hopper's role in this.
And everyone starts moving, each group in a different direction. You're going to the holes first, just to check, and then you'll cover a specific area. Max and Lucas are once again responsible for the map and walk a couple of feet ahead.
“Hey. Take this.” Steve gets your attention, taking the bat from his backpack and handing it over to you. “I know Jason was a close friend of yours. Sorry this happened.”
“Yeah.” You lay the bat over your shoulder, careful not to entangle your hair in the nails. “I really thought it couldn't get any worse but life proved me wrong.”
“I remember when Will went missing. I was a total jerk back then so I didn't really care.” You glance over to Steve, and he has an apologetic look on his face. “They found the body and there was a funeral. But the body was fake and Will was fine in the end.”
“Someone should make a movie out of that story.” You mumble, taking a deep breath. “Do you think Jason could be in the... Upside Down?”
“No. According to Eleven, no portals were open. The Demodogs just made these woods into their new home and are doing what it takes to survive.” Through the corner of your eyes, you see when he almost slips, opening his arms slightly to regain balance. “Don't laugh.” He says, but you're already chuckling. “Anyway, wherever he is, he's here.”
“Why don't we tell Eleven to just use her powers and find him. Wouldn't it be easier?”
“These woods are huge. And we usually just do that when it's the last resource.” Lucas answers.
“We don't like pushing her. It always brings back sad memories.”
That's something you can understand perfectly. “We do it the old way then.” You've seen how complicated it is. Eleven's nose wouldn't stop bleeding while she was figuring out the tunnels, and after while blood came out of her ears too. As much as you want to find Jason, you'd never ask her or the party to do something just so you'd feel better. They're in it far longer than you, so you trust them to make the decisions and set the pace. “I just hope he's alright. He's Monica's cousin, and she's worried to death.”
“Yeah, I get that.” It doesn't go unnoticed how Steve doesn't make false promises as you did with Monica. He doesn't say he's ok, that you'll find him. Running a hand through your hair, you take a deep breath, confused between having hopes or just expecting the worse. “So, changing the subject.” He speaks again. “You and Hargrove. I never thought Billy would actually fall in love.”
A smile comes to your lips, and you're thankful for having something else to think about. “Yeah. It took a while for me to believe that but he... He worked hard.” Involuntary, your hand goes for the necklace, fingers playing with the earring.
“Joyce and Hopper were saying something about marriage...” It sounds like a question, and you give Steve a glance, giggling. “They were trying not to let anyone hear them but Hopper doesn't really know how to whisper.”
By the heat spreading through your cheeks, you know you're blushing. Could it be real? Would Billy marry you? Is he really considering such a thing? “We spoke about it, Uhm... Twice, I think. But not a real conversation, he just spilled it out.”
“Holy shit, he's going serious with you then.” He playfully elbows your arm. By what you've seen and by what Max told you, Steve usually grows protective of everyone since he joined the party, and you think it's cute. He's like everyone's babysitter. “Send me an invitation, would you?”
“I will.”
“You–”
Maxine's yell cuts him short, getting your attention as you notice you have fallen behind. Immediately, you and Steve start running towards then.
“Man, that's...” Lucas says as Max hugs him, eyes tightly shut.
You're about to ask them what the hell happened when you follow Lucas' scared stare.
It's a weird sensation when you're brain refuses to take in the information. When your eyes, focused on something, are blind. And your ears are deaf and the wind blowing doesn't touch your skin. It's like you're not there.
Jason's body is stuck between a big rock and a dead tree. His torso is opened up, and there's nothing inside.
As there's nothing inside Jason anymore. He's empty. Body and soul. There will be no laughter leaving his lips, no more jokes, no more arms to carry his baby siblings around. Nothing. Just flesh and bones, both ripped apart.
“(Y/N).” You're sure it's not the first time you hear someone calling your name, but you're not even sure where it comes from.
You only move when an arm pulls you, and you feel it around you. “We have to go. C'mon.” Steve says, and, far and distant, you hear static, and voices, coming from the radio. “(Y/N).”
“I need Billy.” It's the only thing that comes to your head, and you find a way to force the words out of your throat.
“Alright, let's go,” Steve says, and you're only set on motion because of his arm around your shoulders.
Everything is a blur. You notice people moving around, and some of them come to hug you as they start regrouping near the cars. Nodding and thanking their kind words, you remain silent, arms crossed, the image still burning in your brain.
Jason's rib cage broken open, the blood staining his clothes and the ground around him. His head twisted in an awkward way, neck probably disconnected from the body.
“Let's get moving. She wants to talk to Billy.”
“The pool will close in an hour. Take her home.”
“No, she's scaring me. We need to take her to Billy.” Max intervenes, and Steve pulls you to his car. You let Max seat shotgun, feeling better in the backseat where you can curl into a ball, knees pressed against your chest as the landscape passes by.
It reminds you the first time you saw that thing. You were trying to beat Billy, driving back to your place. Maybe, if you had gone to the police station the next day, let them know something was out there, you could've avoided this. But who would believe you? You didn't believe it either. What are you going to tell Monica? After saying things would be ok, that they would find Jason alive and well when you knew being out in the woods all night long probably meant he'd become Demodog's meal.
You knew it, yet you lied. Vain hope is the worst kind of hope, and that's what you gave her.
“(Y/N).” Steve gets your attention, touching your shoulder. “We're at the pool.”
Blinking a few times to wake up from the stupor, you bolt out of the car, making your way to the entrance. It's crowded today, but you don't see faces, you just see obstacles.
It finally starts kicking in.
You went to find Jason, and you did. But instead of the dear friend you so easily grew to love, you found a dead, empty corpse. The tears threat to overflow as you rudely bump into people, making your way through the pool. At a distance, you see the moment Billy finally notices the commotion, his eyes quick to find you. By the way his face changes, the way he takes off his sunglasses and jumps to the ground, shoving people out of his way, you must be looking terrible.
But you don't care. Billy is everything you need, the only thing you see and you know you can break down in his arms. You just need to reach him, and when you do, you collapse against his chest, not able to hold back the tears anymore, the sobs building up your throat as you hold onto him.
“I'm so sorry,” Billy mumbles in your ear. He knows. How could he not?
You suddenly feel him lifting you up, and you hide your teary face on the crook of his neck. Seconds later you're at the locker room, and Billy screams for the other girls to get out as he puts you down, seated on one of the benches.
“I'm so sorry, (Y/N).” He repeats, kneeled before you, thumbs coming to dry off some tears, just to make space for more.
“I saw him. H-he was all eaten, Billy. His body was-his body was wide open and everything was gone–”
“Stop, stop.” He begs, pulling you into a hug. “You don't have to tell me, not now.” Nodding, you take in his scent, feeling safe, secure, despite the terror creeping under your skin. “I'll take you home, ok?”
“No.” You mutter, pulling away just enough so you're foreheads are touching. You don't know what comes to you, but this has to be said. This feeling has to be let out. Not after, not tomorrow. Now. Maybe it's the fact that you saw death for the very first time. You just need to let him know “You're my home.”

Belated Spring 2020 Anime Overview: My Next Life as Villainess
For the Spring 2020 anime season, I mostly watched continuations of shows I was already into. The one new show I did pick up was My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! follows Katerina Claes, a spoiled young noble girl deviously scheming to win the heart of a prince- oh wait, never mind, she hit her head and remembered her past life! Turns out she’s an eighteen year old Japanese otaku chick who died and got reincarnated as the villainess in her favorite otome game.
If you don’t feel like reading the wiki article, an otome game is basically a female- targeted dating sim where you play as a blank slate main character and date a bunch of pretty boys (and sometimes girls, but usually only if you go outside the mainstream ones), unlocking their backstories and collecting all the romantic endings.
Having played this game, Katarina is well aware that the Villainess character- who constantly tries to interfere with the game’s heroine and whichever boy she’s pursuing- is either exiled or killed in all of the games endings. And now she IS that villainess, living in the world of the game and all its characters! Does that mean she’s doomed to a horrible fate? What’s a girl to do?
Well, if you’re Katarina, what you do is be supportive and kind to the people around you and in doing so accidentally get every single character in the game to fall in love with you. And yes, this includes all the boys the heroine is supposed to date, the other female romantic rivals the heroine is faced with and the game’s heroine herself.
That’s right, we finally got us some bisexual romantic comedy hijinx last anime season, my friends! My Next Life as a Villainess was the delightful little show I really escaped into during these anxious pandemic times . All these girls casually falling in love with Katarina without it being treated as ‘weird’ was what particularly drew me to this show and warmed my gay little heart to see. It was honestly the perfect fluffy, low stress watch during these high stress times.
Anime has long been oversaturated with ‘harem’ stories- where a usually unwitting protagonist somehow gets a bevy of beauties in love with them- but it’s still unfortunately really unusual to see bisexual harems, especially ones with a girl at the center, so right away there’s a big draw to this story that helps it stick out from the rest. (And worry not, the story is largely focused on Katarina having fun with these pals-who-are-not-so-secretly-in-love-with-her, rather than having a ton the dubious shenanigans you see in more sexually charged tales.)
Harem protoganists also famously tend to have the personality of potatoes, being so painfully bland it’s unclear why so many people would fall in love with them in the first place. But that definitely not the case for Katarina. She’s brash, ridiculous, kind and INCREDIBLY dense, and that for a pretty dynamic combination in this setting! She does genuinely come off as a fun person to be around. Unlike a lot of modern isekai shows, she doesn’t stumble into having incredible magic powers or skills, so her compassion is genuinely her greatest strength and what saves the day and wins hearts time and time again.
Katarina’s five brain cells doing their weekly check-in
(The moment she won my heart was when she responded to a tragic Frozen style situation with her friend locking himself away from people because he believed his magic was dangerous by taking an axe to his door. My kinda girl!)
The premise also allows for some plausible built-in reasons for the characters to take such special notice of Katarina- having been raised in a different world, she isn’t beholden to all the social rules, class divisions and noble family drama all the other kids in this very specific midevial-esque fantasy world are so embroiled in. This combined with her naturally earnest, accepting and straightfoward nature means she’s able to cross boundaries and reach out to them in a way they aren’t accustomed to. She was significant in each character’s life because she genuinely was the first to show them acceptance and affection without pretense, if only because she isn’t even aware there was supposed to be a pretense.
Katarina’s focus on trying not to die and her fear she’s going to meet the same fate as the villainess in the game also at least gives some kind of a basis to her comical obliviousness to everyone being in love with her. She assumes that everyone has to be into Maria (the heroine) and terrified of her because that’s how the game GOES okay, that’s CANON! Of course, this logic stretches thin as time goes on and it would be abundantly clear to most people that things have diverged greatly from the game’s storyline, but the show makes it clear that Katarina’s determined, one track mind is as much a gift as a curse.
Her bullheadedness when it comes to picking up how everyone REALLY feels about her is an intentional gag on the show’s part and even her love interests are well aware of what a colossal dumbass she is and not afraid to point it out!
My Next Life as a Villainess isn’t without its flaws, and the personalities/backstories of some of the ‘love interests’ Katarina gathers may be a stumbling block on some- mostly the male ones. Geordo, “the black hearted prince” has a bit of the “ possessive shoujo bad boy” archetype about him, and though he’s far from the worst that genre of love interest has to offer (there’s not much bad he can get up to due to Katarina’s obliviousness, the lighthearted nature of the show, and his rivals constantly getting in his way), the way he refuses to break Katarina and his engagement off despite her repeatedly asking him to, as well as some of his lines here and there, are definitely NOT cute.
Keith is Katarina’s adopted brother, but clearly has a thing for her too. On one hand, they only first met when they were nine and he fell for her pretty immediately. On the other hand, he still refers to her as “sister” constantly which is kinda eesh.
The other two guys are all right- Nicol’s big thing is he’s inexpressive and doesn’t talk much which, considering show doesn’t spend much time inside his head, doesn’t make him a very interesting character in the ensemble (maybe he comes across better in the novels) but there’s nothing wrong with him. Alan is undoubtedly the Best Boy in my book. He’s another common trope- rambunctious and competitive with Katarina but clearly soft for her- but he’s done well and they have a lot of cute moments together.
I find the girl love interests to be a much more interesting group overall, though this may be my obvious bias talking. Sophia has the strongest connection to Katarina, their backstories being intertwined in a surprising and touching way (I’m told in the novels her affection for Katarina was treated as more platonic, but the anime definitely plays it up as having romantic elements). Maria’s original role as the game’s heroine puts her in the most interesting position (and would make her the most narratively satisfying choice of love interest, if the show was actually interested in choosing). And while Mary is comically tenacious in her pursuit of Katarina, she’s doesn’t ever act ‘sinister’ or overstep boundaries in the way Geordo does, her “scheming” only really amounting to straightforwardly asking if Katarina wants to ditch her fiance and run away with her.
As I mentioned, one thing that really contributes to My Next Life as a Villainess being a relaxing watch is that the queer characters are treated with casual acceptance. Mary in particular isn’t subtle about her crush on Katarina, but nobody bats an eye at her and she’s completely open and comfortable with herself too. The observing maid notes that the girls are in love with Katarina with the same bland affect as when she notes she notes the guys are. And while the social practices of the nobles are pretty heteronormative- girls are always engaged in arranged marriages to guys, the guys are expected to dance with the girls (something Mary complains about!)- there’s apparently a booming queer romance novel industry that inspires our young wlw.
Katarina, having grown up in a different world, seems to be the one most prone to heteronormativity of her group. She never really considers that a girl would ever fall in love with her, but is also never hostile to the idea. It’s telling that when Mary very clearly indicates her desired romantic partner would be a girl, Katarina’s the only one that gets tripped up and has to walk back her assumption that Mary would be talking about a guy.
Mary LAYING DOWN THE LAW
Also, Katarina has SEVERAL “she’s so cute! My heart is beating faster!” moments with the other girls, on par in frequency with her moments with the guys. This strongly hints she’s an oblivious bisexual disaster.
So, My Next Life as Villainess is a fun, frothy watch and the rare positive example of silly wish-fufillment that’s inclusive to a wlw audience. But is the actual plot good, or remotely complex? The answer to that is no, the plot is fairly predictable and one definitely shouldn’t got into this story expecting a deep examination of the nature of fate or anything like that. There’s no real explanation of big reason as to why why Katarina was reborn into this game world and so on.
The antagonist that does eventually emerge plays off otome game tropes a bit, but ultimately isn’t that interesting or built up all that well. . The attempts at drama the show makes towards the end fall a little flat, especially since it tends to rely on very-late-in-the-game-exposition-dumps (dark magic isn’t even MENTIONED as existing in this world until like, the second to last episode where it becomes relevant and we get a vague infodump explaining its mechanics). The conflict honestly almost feels shoehorned in and the climax is pretty standard and doesn’t really utilize the big cast of characters all that well
But in the end, that’s okay! The show makes it abundantly clear from the beginning it’s not here to be Deep, but to be some silly fun. And it really fulfills that purpose well, from it’s catchy, peppy theme tune to its consistently warm tone. It MAY get repetitive at times for some, and I do have some quibbles- like how I found the childhood segments to be some of the shows best material and wish we could have stayed in that section for a bit instead of rushing through it, how I wish Katarina had kept her cute little scar, etc- but overall, it was definitely the soothing balm I needed during a very rough time and I absolutely recommend it if you’re looking for a chill, feel-good watch.
And hey, a second season’s supposed to be on the way too, so there’s something to potentially look forward to!

Please Don’t Swear x Sirius Black
notes: goodness it’s been a while. i’m beyond sorry for my absence. i feel like since it’s been so long since i’ve written, this may be a little wonky. please let me know if you liked it! thank you so much for reading!
word count: 1.8k
warnings: swearing :/
masterlist
Growing up in the wizarding world, the subject of magic was hard to avoid. Every child grew up on the stories of their parents’ times at Hogwarts, learning spells and having fun. They didn’t have to question what the words on their wrists meant, they learned the meaning before they could formulate coherent sentences.
Y/n L/n grew up in a completely different environment. She had been taught from a young age that magic was not real, and it was silly to believe so. She couldn’t explain the weird things that happened to her, all she knew was that it wasn’t normal. The most alarming thing was the three words written on her wrist.
She knew it was vulgar. For as long as she could remember, her parents had done their best to cover them up. She wore long sleeves year round, bandaids over the writing, anything to make sure no one knew that spelled out on her wrist were the words “What the fuck?”
It was almost comical; at first glance it seemed so pretty. The writing was a lot more elegant than the wording. Maybe if it was on someone else she would think it was hilarious. But it wasn’t.
Y/n was eleven when she received the letter that explained everything. She was a witch. Everything made so much sense once she figured out that she had magical powers that she had yet to learn how to control. Well, almost everything. She would later learn that the words on her wrist were the first words her soulmate would say to her.
Soulmate.
———————————————————————
Sirius Black hated the three words that displayed across his wrist. He was bossed around by his family enough, he didn’t need his soulmate for that. “Please don’t swear.” Yeah right.
His mother would use the words to her advantage as much as she could. Whenever he would do something she didn’t agree with, she would simply inform him that ‘your soulmate wouldn’t be pleased.’ Sirius hated it more than anything.
So, after arriving at Hogwarts, Sirius decided that he didn’t care about soulmates. He would date who he wanted to date and not acknowledge the twinge of disappointment he wasn’t scolded by a girl upon speaking to her.
———————————————————————
“You know, you’re never going to get anywhere dating around Padfoot,” James scolded Sirius, who had just returned from Godric knows where.
“Yeah, cause having a soulmate has really worked out for you, mate,” Sirius jokes.
“Hey! I’ll have you know that Lily and I will one day be-”
“the happiest couple in the whole world,” the three marauders cut him off, having heard the statement too many times to count.
“Yeah, we know Prongs.”
“Say, if James knows his soulmate, and she can’t even stand to be around him, I can only imagine how much yours hates you, Pads,” Peter laughed, earning him two swift slaps to the back of the head. He quickly turned around and hit them both in the arm. Before the trio could start a wrestling match, Remus cut them off.
“You know, he’s right.”
“Hey,” James muttered.
“No, not Wormtail. You, you git. Pads, if you don’t at least try to find your soulmate, you’re never gonna be happy,” Remus warmed him.
“Exactly, do you want to spend your future wondering what could have been if you weren’t such a tool?” James teased, once again starting up a wrestling match.
Remus rolled his eyes and returned to his magazine. “You know, you should look for her tonight at the party.”
“Yeah right, as if I, Sirius Orion Black, want to spend an entire party looking for some chick.”
“You know Moony, I think he’s chicken,” James said, proceeding to cluck at Sirius. Peter joined in.
“Real mature you guys,” Sirius deadpanned. They continued clucking. “Cut it out,” he warned, growing more annoyed. As the clucking grew louder, and the flapping arm movements became more exaggerated , Sirius caved. “Fine!”
James and Peter cheered, high fiving each other. Remus smirked down at his magazine, knowing that his plan had worked. Sirius glared at him.
“You know, you’re too smart for your own good,” Sirius whined, aggravated that Remus knew this exact thing would happen.
“What can I say, you lot are predictable.”
“Piss off!” Sirius retorted, turning towards the door to walk away.
“Please don’t swear,” James and Peter laughed, earning a crude hand gesture from Sirius, followed by the slamming of the door.
———————————————————————
Y/n and Lily sat in the library, quietly bickering back and forth across the table.
“How come whenever you ask me to study with you, we never study?” Y/n asked, annoyed with Lily’s inability to be quiet.
“Oh come on, it’s one little party. Please don’t make me go alone.”
“No way Lily. You remember what happened last time?” Y/n whined, hoping Lily would soon drop it.
“That was one time! And Marlene didn’t mean to spill her drink on you. She said sorry like a hundred times!” Lily retorted, trying her hardest to convince her friend.
“Yeah, well sorry didn’t dry my clothes off.”
“Oh pretty please. I really want you to meet my friends. You and Remus would get on really well.”
“Is it because James is going to be there?” Y/n teased, looking back down at her book. When Lily stayed quiet instead of defending herself, Y/n’s head shot up. When she noticed Lily’s blush, she knew that she had to go for her friend.
“Fine, I’ll go lover girl.”
“Thank you so much. You know, you might even find–”
“Yeah yeah, now shut up. You dragged me here to study, now study!”
———————————————————————
The Gryffindor common room was a lot louder than usual. Y/n had been there a total of thirty minutes and was already ready to leave. She glanced at Lily to make sure she wouldn’t notice, and saw her talking with James. She smiled, partly because she was happy for the pair and partly because she knew she could leave undetected.
As a fifth year threw up in the corner, she glanced down at her butterbeer, suddenly disgusted by the beverage. She decided that she would set the butterbeer on the closest table and make a beeline for the door.
Looking over her shoulder to make sure Lily hadn’t spotted her, she collided with another body, and her drink went all over them.
“What the fuck?” Sirius yelled, surprised at the sudden coldness and angry about the uncomfortable wetness.
Y/n, trying not to make a scene that would alert Lily of her absence, frantically scolded the person in front of her.
“Please don’t swear.”
She looked up and was met with the eyes of Sirius Black. She felt very small under his glare, which she guessed she deserved, having spilled her cold beverage all over his front.
“I’m really sorry, I’ll go get you some paper towels,” she spoke shyly, turning to grab something to dry him off with when she felt a hand wrap around her wrist.
“What did you say?” he asked, a mix of shock and anger on his face.
“Um, that I was going to go get some paper towels…” Y/n responded, coming out as more of a question. She always thought the Black boy was a bit curious.
“No, before that,” he shook his head, rolling her sleeve up. Y/n went to jerk her arm back, but Sirius let it go before she could attempt to.
That’s when she realized what was going on. Sirius Black, notorious bad boy, was her soul mate. Of all people.
“It’s you?” she gasped, beyond shocked.
“Don’t act so surprised, princess. You know, you ruined my life!” he progressively got louder, let all of his bottled up feelings towards the whole soulmate situation finally spill.
At this point everyone at the party was silently watching the argument unfold.
“Me! Me? Do you have any idea how hard it is to have a curse word on your wrist?” she yelled back, growing angrier the more she looked at him.
“Just say fuck!”
“I most certainly will not!”
“You know, we’ve barely said ten words to each other and I already can’t stand you.”
“Well I’ve never been able to stand you! You–”
Y/n continued to talk, but Sirius tunes her out, focusing instead on her eyes. He thought they were very pretty. The light of the common room reflected in them, and he wondered what they looked like if they were filled with joy and not anger.
He moved from there to her hair, which he thought complimented her face perfectly. He found himself wanting to reach up and move the hair that had fallen in front of your face behind your ear.
Sirius’ moment of infatuated bliss was cut off by a snap in front of his eyes.
“Are you even listening to me?” she thought she would never be angrier than she was at this moment.
It was then that Sirius noticed all the eyes watching their altercation. He grabbed her hand again, despite her protests, and ushered her into the hallway.
“Sirius Black I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but–”
“You’re really pretty,” Sirius smiles down at her, blushing under her bewildered gaze.
“Excuse me?” Y/n was left even more confused than she was before.
Sirius chuckled, reaching his hand up to cup her face. “You’re really pretty,” he reiterated.
Y/n blushed and averted her eyes downwards to her shoes. She didn’t know what to think, but she knew she liked the feeling of his hand on her cheek.
“I don’t hate you,” she spoke softly, looking up at the boy who chuckled softly.
“I don’t hate you either,” Sirius started, leaning in closer. “You’re far too beautiful to hate.”
Y/n smiled as Sirius connected his lips to hers. Both of their grins caused the kiss to be a tad bit awkward, but just about everything about the couple had been up to that point.
Sirius pulled away and placed his forehead against hers. He placed a soft kiss on her nose, which she responded to by scrunching it up. In that moment, Sirius felt like his legs might give out. As he leaned back in, they were interrupted by two very distinct giggles.
They turned around to see James and Lily hand in hand, both with sheepish grins on their face.
“Looks like this hallways is taken,” James spoke, avoiding Sirius’ knowing glance. He grabbed Lily’s hand and pulled her back down the hallway, looking forward to filling Sirius in later.
“Do you think they?”
“Oh for sure,” Sirius nodded, grabbing her hand and leading her back towards her common room.
“Let me walk you?”
“Lead the way,” she smiled, resting his head on his arm and smiling.
Maybe the years of embarrassment would be worth it. Looking up at Sirius, she figured they had to have been.

Growing Up Beastly
As you probably know by now, I’m kind of obsessed with Beauty and the Beast. And I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on the nature of the Beast, and especially on his origins and on the idea of the Beast as a victim. (Like this post in my Sexual Abuse in the Folk Tradition series, and this post and this one about why we don’t curse children.)
Today we’re going to talk about a slightly different Beast, from a different variant of this story type. This is, of course, Prince Lindworm.
Like our usual beloved Beast, it’s not the lindworm’s fault that he’s a lindworm, although for slightly different reasons—his mom screwed up, and he was born a lindworm. This enchanted bridegroom has literally never been unenchanted; there’s no natural state for him to return to. He’s always been a beast. (Sort of like Hans My Hedgehog, actually; maybe I’ll come back to that in another post.)
Before the lindworm gets transformed into a man, he eats two princesses. Which is…not great. However. He is a lindworm. Which is a kind of dragon. Which is, you know—I mean presumably they have dietary needs that differ from a human’s?
I have so, so many questions about this story that are not addressed in the original text. But the main one is what on earth did the lindworm think was going on here? So. Several points.
Firstly. There is a distinct possibility that he’s sort of a baby lindworm. (At least in the early Danish version. In the later version incorrectly attributed to Asbjorsen and Moe, we have a clearer timeline.) The queen gives birth while the king is at war. The lindworm slithers away, and reappears as the king is coming home from war.
Is this a war that’s lasted fifteen to twenty years? Did the king come home from the first war, stay home for several years, then go fight in another war that he’s returning from when the lindworm approaches him? Did the queen give birth to a fully grown lindworm that met the king a few months later? Did the queen give birth to a baby lindworm that was an adult by the time the king got home, either because lindworms grow faster than humans or because magic? Did she give birth to a baby lindworm that’s still a baby? How old is this lindworm?
Secondly. How did the lindworm know the king was his dad? Because he clearly did. He just slithered up one day and said “Hey, I’m your son. I wanna get married.”
Who raised this lindworm? Who told him who his real parents were? The text says he burrows under the bedchamber as soon as he’s born, and doesn’t mention him having any further contact with the queen or with anyone else.
Thirdly. Did the lindworm even know he was under a spell? Dude’s been a lindworm for his entire life. He knows his parents are human, but, like, do lindworms have access to comprehensive sex education? For all he knows, all lindworms might have human parents. Is he aware that he’s not supposed to be a lindworm? Even if he is, does that necessarily mean he wants to stop being a lindworm?
Fourthly. What was his ultimate goal here? He demands brides. He eats them. He demands more. Why?
Personally, I know nothing about lindworm culture and tradition. Maybe they’re, like, reverse black widows or praying mantises, and eating their wives is just, like, what they do. Or maybe he was just really hungry—though surely there would be people other than his new wives available to eat.
Why did he want to get married? Did he ever intend for a wife to survive past the wedding night?
Fifthly. The transformation. Did he see this coming? Again, did he even realize it was a possibility? When this chick starts demanding that he molt out of season and then whips him and bathes him in milk, what does he think is happening? Does he realize it’s a transformation spell? Was he expecting it or hoping for it? Does he think it’s just a bizarre human wedding tradition? Did the other two girls try to break the spell too, and do it wrong?
Shedding ten layers of skin in a row is gonna be pretty incapacitating for any sort of reptile. Once he’s done that, there’s no defending himself from things like the whipping. If the other girls tried to break the spell too, but skipped the shedding step and went right to whipping, he might have eaten them in self-defense.
Sixthly. The aftermath. So our lindworm is now a handsome prince. Okay, now what? What does that even mean? He’s literally always been a lindworm, with, as far as we can tell, lindworm behaviors and a lindworm palate. You aren’t turning him back into a prince—you’re turning him into a prince. Even if he always knew he was under a spell and it would someday be broken, that doesn’t change the fact that he’s like, inherently, fundamentally, a lindworm. He grew up as a lindworm, doing lindworm things.
He has no idea how to be a person, much less a prince. Walking, gesturing, chewing food—all exciting new experiences.
I mean, on the bright side, the king and queen didn’t actually miss out on their only child’s babyhood, after all—they still get to have all those fun experiences, just with an adult man who’s on his third wife and ate the first two.
I just, like, I don’t get how this whole thing is going to work. I have questions. I have concerns. I have many, many concerns.
Th circumstances are wildly different, but ultimately I think he’s a victim, too. Brides for lunch and all.
It’s not his fault he’s a lindworm, and while he was a lindworm, he did, presumably, what lindworms do. And now he’s a man, whether he wants to be or not. So he’s lost everything he’s ever known and been, and now he has to learn how to be a different kind of creature, from scratch, twenty years too late. (And depending on that whole king-at-war timeline, he may have just transitioned over night from a baby dragon to an adult man, which….yikes.)
What is the learning curve going to be like here? Let’s assume he’s not going to try to eat any more people, because of the sizing issue if nothing else—lindworms are probably a lot bigger than men. (How does he feel about the bride eating, looking back? Does he feel guilty? Does he shrug it off as a lindworm thing that he did when he was a lindworm? Is it all just kind of awkward?) Is he going to eat—or try to eat—a few cats or rats or lap dogs? How many months or years will it take him to remember he has to step out of bed in the mornings, instead of trying to slither and falling in a heap on the floor? When molting season comes around, is he going to try it and sprain something? (Or will molting forever be associated with terrible, terrible trauma after that bizarro transformation sequence?)
This guy has been totally screwed over since literally the moment of his conception. And for the stupidest reason. He didn’t insult someone, didn’t turn down their advances or refuse to share or help. His mom ate too many flowers. That’s it. That’s the whole reason he’s a monster, the whole reason two innocent girls are dead.
(Also, on the subject of those flowers, he should have been a girl. The queen ate the girl flower first, then the boy flower; she should have had a girl. I think I’ve done everything I’m going to with this story, but if you want to write a retelling where the lindworm is a girl, hit me up in like five years when my publishing company has expanded a little and I’ll publish it for you.)
(I wrote a book about the crazy aftermath, and you can get it here.)

Josuke x Reader :: Promposal :: Ch. 2
previous chapter next chapter
summary: A strange new transfer student has enrolled in Budogaoka High School. Josuke falls head over heels for her, but has a limited time to win her over before the school prom.
///
The next day during lunch, Josuke was found with his head on his desk, shoulders slouched. When his friends arrived to the classroom, they were afraid he might've been banging his head on it. Nothing Crazy Diamond couldn't fix, but what was more important at the moment was what was going on inside Josuke's head.
Koichi and Okuyasu were right by his side, sitting at parallel desks. Okuyasu almost dared to pet his head, but knew better to not touch the boy's precious pompadour.
His smaller friend spoke up first. "Don't worry Josuke, it's gonna be alright. You win some you lose some, right?"
The teen only groans in response. That wasn't sounding too good to the other two.
"Listen Josuke ya gotta give it at least one more try, the Josuke I know isn't a quitter, that's for sure!" His bed friend attempted to cheer him up, punching him in the shoulder. He finally raised his head with a less than amused expression.
"I guess. The problem with that though is how? She doesn't seem interested in the slightest, and I don't wanna come off as some creepy stalker guy!" He rubbed his neck.
The trio stayed silent for a second, trying to figure out a idea that wouldn't be a complete dud. Koichi was the only one of the three in a relationship, yet still didn't know how this situation should be approached. The three teenagers were novices at romance, that's one thing they easily discovered.
"O-oh! I got it!" The short boy finally yelled out, scaring the others. "You should write her a love letter! Tell her how you really feel through words on paper rather than having to look her in the eye!"
A...love letter?" The pompadoured teen tilted his head like a confused dog. After he fully realized the implications of his friend's suggestion, he shook his head, a tiny bit of red across his cheeks."N-no! No way! I'm not that serious about this yet Koichi! We've barely said anything to each other!"
"You don't have to say you love her, just say how you feel and ask her if you wanna meet up." Koichi added. "Simple as that. At least, in anime and manga it is." He mumbled the last part. Okuyasu nodded his head in agreement. At this point, Josuke didn’t have many other options or people to get advice from.
There was Jotaro, but he had no idea what his love life was like. Didn’t seem like any casanova to him anyway. Even if he asked, there’s no guarantee the marine biologist would give him an answer. Second choice would be Yukako, which was an absolute no. He doesn’t wanna scare you or come off as some creep. Third choice would be his mom. Nope, too embarrassing. She’d be setting up the wedding plans as soon as she hears he has a crush. Or there was Yuya…
“Give me a pen and some paper.” He was already holding out his hand.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The teen didn’t get anywhere with the letter at school.
He hoped home would be a better place to actually get it written. At least one word.
He contemplated getting Koichi on the phone for some pointers, but decided against it. These were his feelings he had to write about. Honesty is the best policy, he always thought. You deserved more than some corny letter that’s probably copyrighted from a birthday card. Josuke sat at his partially cluttered desk. The note sat blank, and so did his brain.
Thoughts rolled in and out of his brain, asking himself questions like ‘what do girls actually like again?’ and ‘Is she even the kind of chick that’d like something extremely cliche like this?’ Shaking his head helped to clear his brain and start anew. There were about four crumpled up papers in the trash bin. Tomoko had even dipped in his room to see how he was doing, assuming he was doing homework, she had given him a drink at his request. Along with a comment of how he looked like he was going to burst a vein if he thought any harder.
It was 8:30 now.
He had taken a break. One paragraph written. Some progress being made deserved a break for him on his console.
Josuke beat his high score, earning a wide grin across his cheeks. ‘Thats enough for now, don’t wanna ruin it.’ He thought, placing the controller on top of the console. Laying back on his bed, his arms stretched across the width of it, added with a yawn. The teen guessed now would be a good time to question why he was even doing this for that girl in the first place.
He didn’t get crushes easily, that was sure enough. Maybe he liked ‘exotic’ girls, seeing that the first thing he knew about her was that she was foreign. Or perhaps it was because she was smart? Nah, he wouldn’t fall for someone over something like that. Josuke wasn’t the kind of guy to quickly judge someone based on whether they’re the sharpest tool in the shed.
Maybe it could be because she’s pretty? ...of course not. There were plenty of pretty girls that followed him to school or even gave him letters.
It was getting too much to rack his brain for answers at this point. He had started the letter already and he was going to finish it. Even if he gets embarrassed by it, too much time had been spent to just not hand it to her.
Josuke shuffled back to his desk chair and kept writing.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Today was the big day. Koichi and Okuyasu had been hyping him up even before they got to school. He had told the other two it was pure coincidence he had remembered where your locker was, but honestly how could he forget. It was right by the class, the place he got so bluntly rejected by two days ago.
What was actually lucky was that the envelope he bought was just small enough to fit through the slits at the top of your locker.
It was almost time for class, meaning you would be coming to get your books any second. Instead of just going to class like they should’ve, the pompadoured teen’s two friends had convinced him to hide behind the corner to wait for your reaction. Josuke obviously protested, but all of them went silent at the sound of clacking against the marble hallway floor.
You had worn the heels again. He was almost inclined to think you were a delinquent.
Just as planned, you had gone to your locker. The trio were biting their bottom lips in anticipation.
Josuke was practically sweating as your hand went to the combination and the sound of you unlocking it. The other two were clutching his jacket, which was frankly painful, but he was far more focused on you.
The locker had finally opened.
Leaving you in an avalanche of love letters.
You quite literally had to back away as they all hit the floor in multiple smacks. One blue, one pink, some with a heart sticker, some even without a name. Josuke suddenly felt a sinking feeling in his gut
“W-woah!” Koichi shrieked. “You kinda went overboard Josuke!” Okuyasu's jaw hung open, staring in disbelief. Josuke pushed the both of them off.
“Th-those aren’t mine!”
You looked incredulously at the letters, picking them up. Some fellow students stared while walking past. A few girls start mockingly giggling and also snarling at you. Not knowing quite what to do or think, you put them back in your locker and got out your books. You hurriedly walked into class, not even making eye contact with anyone else.
“Looks like..you weren’t the only one with the same idea, ey Josuke?” Okuyasu swallowed a lump in his throat.
“This is gonna be a lot harder than we thought.”

The Ouran Academy Deviant
Request: if not already requested...May I request Bad Reputation for Haruhi from Ohshc x Female reader?
Title: The Ouran Academy Deviant
Genre: songfic~, a lil comedic (just a little bit - if you squint you might see it), and slightly romantic. still very floofy tho, WOO.
Pairing: Haruhi Fujioka x Fem! Reader
Notes: The influx of Ouran requests that have flown in is making me melt, seriously. Dead fandoms are really becoming my primary writing topics now, aren’t they? Either way, I love this request and feel like this could go in so many new directions that mimic total bbe - and the pairing just makes everything feel so much more powerful. Like, Haruhi and a total troublemaker? YES.
This is extremely long, as well, so prepare to read something that is (arguably) longer than anything else in this vein that I have written.
Also, I felt like this would work amazingly in one-shot form, and I took some slight liberties. That being said, proceed with caution. The only thing I would warn you about is vulgar language!
Below the cut!
Haruhi Fujioka and (L/n) (Y/n), the odd couple of Ouran Academy. One is a scholarship student, in a club, with a clean track record. She comes off as kind, intelligent, respectable to the utmost level - especially so for dealing with things in the particular way that she does.
(Y/n), on the other hand? She skips school, could care less about her grades, and decides to forego the uniform whenever she does go to school. She sneaks off to do very unladylike things, comes off as incredibly intimidating, and appears to be someone rewarded by fear rather than respect.
The two could not be more different, but the one thing that drove them together was simple: Tamaki.
(Y/n)’s older cousin was the one that dragged her to school that day, he was the one that introduced her to the club after a tiring day at school that consisted of her slacking off in class and skipping in the academy bathrooms, he was the one that provided an easy form of detention for her when she got penalized by the staff.
During the time that she was cleaning and helping in club duties, she had run into Haruhi in her work, and despite what she had said, Haruhi still helped her. “I don’t give a damn, you’re a host aren’t you? Go woo some chicks over on those couches.”
Normally, that would’ve been the end of things. Which makes the next events more shocking.
...
Tamaki had noticed his cousin and his newly-appointed apprentice working together, and in their battle of wits and capabilities, he also picked up on their chemistry. From then on, he was driven to make the two a couple. Though, his methods are extremely unconventional.
One random day, he had invited (Y/n) to his mansion, dragged her to his bedroom and shared a talk with her. She had initially come off as disinterested, but his attitude made her open a bit more.
“Sooo, my dearest cousin, I have a proposition for you!” he had declared. (Y/n)’s interest was peaked, but a part of her advised her to avoid asking. That side lost to her curiousity.
“And what may that be, because if it so happens to be one of your over-the-top plans to try and get me to drag my ass to school I’m leaving.” Tamaki played the dramatics before getting to the point.
“Oh, dear (Y/n), it is nothing of the sort. It is a resolution to a problem of yours, though.”
The (h/c) raised an eyebrow, leaning in and nodding. “Go on.”
The blonde let a small smirk settle on his face, and when he had announced his idea to her, she jumped up and was already on her way to leave the room.
“Wait, wait, wait! Hear me out, please!” She paused, took in a deep breath and rolled her eyes before allowing herself to continue speaking. (Y/n) didn’t need this amount of annoyance before she left to wreak more havoc, but she also didn’t want to send the only person that cared enough to help her to his emo corner.
“What if I say yes to this? What’s the catch gonna be? I’m not jumping from Class-C to Class-A just so you can play the part of the savior.”
“Well, first of all: you wouldn’t be bored. You have already shown that you are highly intelligent, you just need the proper amount of stimulation. You can get there!” She paused, then nodded, and gestured for Tamaki to continue. “Second of all: you need something to do during school other than vandalize the alley walls and bathroom stalls. You’re extremely pretty, and-”
“And I’m going.”
“Wait! Let me finish, I promise that you won’t absolutely hate it,” he pleaded. (Y/n) was still hesitant to go along with his plan, but again - don’t want to send the only person that cared enough to help her to his emo corner.
“Fine, but make it quick.”
Cue the sparkling eyes.
“Thank you! Anyway, I think you should join the Host Club. We can open it up to girls that want to appeal, and this would make your record look better for the future! After all, you want to succeed, right?”
With a sigh, (Y/n) walked back to the bed and sat down. She had to debate the idea - she did want to do well following high school, and she did know that the way she was going halfway through the year wouldn’t be good for doing just that. Tamaki was right to advise her of this, but she didn’t want any obligations tying her down for the rest of her high school career.
Tamaki was bouncing on the balls of his feet as he watched his rough-and-tumble cousin run the benefits and drawbacks in her head. His lips were pursed and his hands were drawn to his chest tightly, gripped with anticipation.
“I’ll think about it. You are right, I’ll give you that, but the likelihood that things would be that easy right now is low,” she answered calmly. She had a tone of seriousness as she spoke, and it was laced with fear.
He had heard the way that she went about her response, and while he was admittedly a little disappointed that she wasn’t jumping for joy at his idea, he also knew that she didn’t work like that and didn’t intend to work like that. This was the best possible scenario for an answer that he could get, and that thought excited him.
“You won’t regret it, I promise! Let me know after you think it through, I can get you prepared and set quickly!” (Y/n) nodded hesitantly, and then got up to leave.
“I’m gonna leave, but I have a lot to think about, now...” she paused, a small flurry of red crossing over her face at the thought of what she was about to say next. ‘Thanks’ wasn’t a word in her dictionary, but now? It may have to be.
“...Thanks, Tamaki.”
His head darted up at her figure as he leapt up with joy and hugged her tightly. He had also lifted her up and managed to spin her around before she kicked him in the shin and got dropped. When Tamaki hit the floor gripping his leg, she was already walking down the hall and alerting the maids of her departure.
...
Now, she sat in Class-A in her second year. The twins were sat behind her and didn’t bother trying to prank her, no one in class was brave enough to stand up to her or correct her when she exhibited some unladylike behavior in class, and some guys that were deemed crazy by the school populace attended the host club to chat with the new ‘Wild’ type. (Following Mori and Honey-senpai’s graduation, of course)
(Sad boi hours-)
She was surprisingly popular according to the polls that Kyoya had taken, and when taking this into consideration, she became the go-to for information from the club’s king himself.
Despite Tamaki’s initial intentions, though, she had only become more quiet and focused on causing more harm outside of school hours.
On multiple occasions, she had gone to the bathrooms and decided to tag the windows with an ‘X’ after covering them in black paint. She had also gone outside to rearrange what she could in the garden after blocking any cameras that would pick up her actions.
Safe to say, she still maintained the reputation that she had achieved in her first year attending.
Her antics were also upped by a new friendship with the twins. She had begun to teach them ways around the school and new ideas for pranks, some that would push the school regulations harshly, and joined them in their endeavors to terrorize certain students that would do certain things to them or someone they cared about.
Otherwise, Tamaki was happy to see another facet of his plan come alive - Haruhi and (Y/n). The two were beginning to get along very well, very quick. It seemed as if the new year and new experiences lit a fire under the (h/c)’s ass, and she had begun to talk more. At least, to people she knew wouldn’t wimp out due to her words and actions.
The change had made the blonde leap out of happiness, the observation that his most treasured cousin was beginning to grow up and become a better person - at a slow pace, but still, there’s improvement.
“(Y/n), you’ve got some customers waiting for you,” Kyoya informed her, making said female groan in frustration.
“They only come here to try and get into my pants, and they still think I’m gonna give those sleaze-bags a chance after the fuck-ton amount of times I’ve told them off.” She stood up despite her statement, brushing off her black skirt and pulling her tie down just the slightest to make herself presentable. “Whatever, I know you’re gonna crucify me if I don’t do it - money, after all.”
A smirk settled on Kyoya’s face as he watched her reluctance. “Of course, dear. Don’t want to keep those undergarment-chasers waiting, do we?” (Y/n) rolled her eyes. “If they try anything, leave and let someone know, of course.”
She chuckled at the taller male, “Of course, Ootori. I’m not dumb, I could easily put them in their place.”
The two shared a look before the female seated herself on the assigned couch.
...
The year was passing by quickly, and as her popularity rose, Haruhi’s attention to her became more evident. (Y/n), admittedly wasn’t oblivious to the attention that she was being provided, but she was oblivious to the attention she was providing.
Now, the two sat next to each other in the cafeteria and talked about whatever was on their mind (at least, they did this when (Y/n) decided to show up to eat there instead of setting up pranks for the staff members). The two were showing an immense amount of attraction to the other, yet they wouldn’t come to the realization that they were crushing on each other.
Even the Ouran Host Club graduates could pick up on the two’s liking to the other, despite not seeing them as often as they may have liked. When they did pop in, they tried to push the two together more often with the help of Tamaki himself and the twins. The whole of the club was in on a plan to get them together, sooner or later.
Sadly, that would have to wait for the group as (Y/n) had started to revert back into skipping habits not long after her and Haruhi had developed a close bond.
Though the school had pressed for the person that decided to skip school at least once a week (which was still an improvement from the three days minimum that she’d jump for previously), they still failed to punish her severely due to Tamaki’s pleading and cover-ups.
She was running thin, and frankly, her snark to other students was becoming more apparent. She had begun to let off more expletives than usual at anyone that pissed her off in the hallways, and would run to the bathrooms with no real explanation before planting herself in the nearest stall for the next class period.
This was starting to annoy staff, and Tamaki was walking an extremely tight rope due to it, but he was determined to help his cousin. He would stop at nothing to get her back to the person she was growing to be.
One day, a Thursday, (Y/n) had run off to the bathrooms yet again. This time, school had ended, and while he knew that this would be a brash decision for someone so self-proclaimed gentlemanly, he ran into the girl’s bathroom to tlak to her.
His footsteps weren’t the most silent, but he doubted she could hear him over the amount of mumbling she doing in the first stall.
“This isn’t really happening, you’re just imagining this. You just like them as a friend.”
Bingo.
“(Y/n)-chan?”
“The fuck- Tamaki? What the hell are you doing in the women’s restroom?”
The two left the area after letting Kyoya know that he and (Y/n) wouldn’t be attending to the club for a while. Despite his initial annoyance, Tamaki reassured him that it was something extremely important.
They had decided to walk around campus for a while, mostly in silence as he waited for her to talk. He knew better than to press her on topics such as this, especially at times like these.
“I’m worried.”
Tamaki’s violet eyes reflected worry, his brows furrowed in concern for (Y/n). “About what? You’ve gotten so much better, and you’ve told me that you like it. So, what’s worrying you?”
She sighed and gestured to the garden nearby with her head. Her eyes were silently pleading, acting as a way to indicate that she wanted to sit down. Whether that was out of fear for her emotions or Tamaki’s he was unaware, but he followed her outside and seated himself on the bench that had been laid before the lavender plants and roses.
“It’s...it’s Haruhi.” The girl paused, took a breath, and continued yet again. “I don’t know what...what I’m feeling for her..”
With a comforting hand resting on her shoulder, he spoke quietly. “What do you mean by that? You both enjoy each other’s company, from what she had said and you have shown. It isn’t contempt, is it?”
“No! No, it’s not that, it’s just...I think...I think I like her.”
Tamaki practically lit up at the statement. “You do? I swear, she does too, she’s just really oblivious. I can get you two together, but-”
“Tamaki, I appreciate the offer, but I know she doesn’t like people like me. Haruhi doesn’t like people that can’t keep the word ‘fuck’ out of their vocabulary for five seconds. She doesn’t like people that refuse to maintain a reputation that’s squeaky clean and extremely fucking poised. Worse yet, I know that even if she does like me, her reputation would be ruined by my shitty one - and that’s simply by default!”
Tamaki remained silent as she continued, his hand still resting on her shoulder as his raised arm fell to his side slowly. He leaned in to listen to what she had to say closer. “I don’t want to drag her into my bullshit, otherwise I would’ve said something already! She just - ugh - she deserves someone that isn’t so nasty.”
As she let her face settle into her cupped hands, he sighed. Some thinking had to do the job, because she had been making such good progress and she was gaining more proper respect because of it.
He knew she wouldn’t care otherwise, as she liked getting into trouble and basking in the adrenaline rush that came with the things that she did, but Haruhi had to remain well-mannered or else she’d be gone from the academy.
Then it hit him.
“How about this? You go home and think over this for the day, take a few days off from the club, and get some rest.” (Y/n) was listening attentively, wishing for something good to come from her cousin’s words. “Of course, you’d still have to attend school, but you could sneak some stuff in during break - you didn’t hear that from me.”
The female chuckled a little at his words, but she gestured for him to continue. “We were planning to have a ball soon, and Mori and Honey-senpai will be attending as prized guests. You can join us in hosting, but if you want to to, you can leave early.
“We want you to be as comfortable as you possibly can, after all - that, and.... Well, I know you and Haruhi like each other. I’m going to do whatever I can to make this happen.”
(Y/n) paused, seemingly frozen for a good second, before she leaped out of her seat and started smacking his shoulder. “What the fuck, Tamaki? You know that I don’t want that, she’ll be ruined! Anyway, she doesn’t like me! Seriously, how the hell do I handle you sometimes?”
Laughter left the male’s mouth as she slowed down, eventually letting her screaming cease in favor of a similar giggle. A gleeful smile gradually formed on her face, and the two finished their small sessions of laughter with panting.
“My god, Tamaki, you are one crazy asshole, aren’t you?” she inquired playfully, breaths peeking between the words as she regained her breath from her sudden actions.
In an abrupt action, Tamaki’s dramatic abilities came into play, feigning a face of horror as he uttered loudly. “That was extremely unladylike - you’re lucky I haven’t called for daddy!”
The (h/c) gagged before grabbing what she had of her things and flicking him. “Let’s go; I need to go home, and you need to go back to the host club.” The taller blonde dropped his act and followed suit.
As they left, a shorter figure stood by for a while after. A small brunette stood huddled tightly in formation to hide behind a pillar, having listened to the conversation that the two had shared.
The amount of vulgarities that lined (Y/n)’s speech was a little shocking, but that didn’t phase Haruhi as much as what the content of it did. ‘She...likes me? I never noticed, I just...wow.... Is this why she’s been going through my head so much?’
She smiled hopefully, making sure to run back to the host club before Kyoya had added anything more to her already over-the-top debts.
...
A few weeks had passed by now. More havoc was seen around the school from a week prior, all by (Y/n)’s doing, and the host club was back and full for the first time in a while.
The week was prefaced with the aforementioned female sitting behind a curtain doing whatever she needed to do while listening in on any and all meetings that the group shared. Her grades were the highest they’d ever been - something that both scared and calmed the teachers - and she had been saving time for after school to do anything that was particularly crazy. The best part of all of this was that she had not only been able to begin attending classes again, but that she had also begun to think.
Thinking about things helped her out now, and she managed to get away with many more annoying things before jumping the stealthy gun and going absolutely crazy with her pranks. It also helped her out with her emotions, and she had realized something very important.
Especially so since the ball that Tamaki had proposed they held was to be this weekend.
(Y/n) had been debating on what to do for the coming event, but eventually settled for her tendency to wing it for stuff like this. She had an idea of what she wanted to do, but things change and she wasn’t down to make any specific plans for the day.
Otherwise, there was something that she was heavily torn on. Her feelings towards the androgynous brunette host were getting harder to contain, the twins were starting to see the effects that had come with it, and they were holding a prank over her head if she were to avoid telling her soon. (Granted, they weren’t aware that she knew, but she had ways of getting information out of people - intimidation tactics definitely work.)
She wanted to yell them to Haruhi if that’s the last thing she did, but two turnouts hit her square in the face. What if she said no? Well, then she would be devastated, and considering that this is the first person that she has actually cared as much about (romantically, of course), she’d be worried. If that were to happen, would she push herself further into herself? Would she lose the progress she’d be getting? Maybe she’d permanently jeopardize her chances at a future?
On the other hand, what would happen if Haruhi said yes? Would she run away and claim that is was false, or would she stand by and be at a loss for words? What about Haruhi’s reputation? Normally, (Y/n) would be preaching and standing by her status as a deviant at the high end establishment, but this? This was different, and she knew this - it was inevitable that her reputation would follow Haruhi and ruin the already somewhat tainted one that she already had. Privileged prissy students were already something to tip-toe around for the beautiful and wealthy, but a poor scholarship student was bound to face more detrimental consequences by the student body.
The whole scenario was leaving the collected girl in an extremely confused mindset, and it was starting to peek out to anyone that was able to see that her notes had little doodles hidden in the lines of the topic notes. She knew how to hide it, but Tamaki - the normally oblivious prince - had been the person to see the coded messages in her notes when he was helping her with her work for a project.
The fear that was hitting her due to this was harsh, much more so than normal. For once, she was truthfully scared - she didn’t like it.
Haruhi, on the other hand, noticed her improving after the chat she had eavesdropped on a bit ago. She also, for once, noticed that (Y/n) had become a bit more interested in what she was doing, sometimes even trying things that she normally wouldn’t try.
From time to time, Haruhi would throw out a random idea for a prank that she had wanted to see as a joke, and it would have come up on the campus courtyard within the week. It flattered her, and seeing as she knew that (Y/n) was one to prank and cause trouble wherever, whenever, and for whatever? It made her flustered, frankly.
With the ball coming up soon, too, she was determined to relax for the night, hopefully with the (h/c) beside her. No fear, nothing, just an image of her and her continually-developing crush standing beside each other under the stars - cheesy imaging, sure, but she enjoyed the thought.
They both had opposing stances on the event, though, and that was what Tamaki had caught onto first. He had seen the glances that had seemingly become more representative of longing, and he wasn’t going to do it. He had a plan, and he’d be damned if it didn’t work.
...
“Ready, men?”
“Yes, sir!”
“Are the decorations in the room prepped?”
“Yes, sir!”
“How about the music?”
“Ready!”
“Great, now the scenery. Balcony completed?”
“You got it, boss!”
“Amazing! Now, boys, let’s go cater to some girls, hmm?”
The gaggle of hosts had gather together earlier than others, already coming prepared and dressed, excited for the formal evening. A plan was looming over their heads as well, and they were driven to get it completed to perfection.
The subjects? Haruhi and (Y/n), of course!
The two were unaware, courtesy of strict regulations regarding the scheme, and a new relationship was most definitely going to be formed later in the night. For benefit of both, privately, but they had to get the ship to sail.
While the boys were meeting, (Y/n) was at home going through her closet. Big fancy ballgowns were never up her alley despite the many times that her parents had tried to force her to wear them, but they had given up after she would wear them with some ‘improper’ shoes or switch the dress out for a button-down and formal pants.
She had run through all of the gowns in the front of the closet before reaching the back, finding where she hid all of her favorite formal clothing. It mainly consisted of options that people around her would normally trash her for, but she had persisted in her action to wear it.
There was a plethora of short dresses that she found comfortable, even some lighter colored ones that she would typically gag at and hide away from. There was a section strictly reserved for dress pants and shirts, and some ties were set up beside them on a shelf. There was even some shoes that she would wear for formality purposes if they were absolutely necessary (read: for future privilege purposes).
What stood out to her in her search of what to wear, though, was a silky (f/c) dress, complete with a small back lacing detail and a low-cut neckline. A pair of tights with a lacey pattern in black, a simple choker, and some sensible combat boots would tie the whole look together - might as well dress up to dress up and dress to impress while she’s at it.
She reached the garments, grabbing what she could fit in her hands and leaving said closet in choice of getting dressed.
Haruhi was being cornered by the twins and dragged to a room near the club room where there was a wide collection of clothing to choose from while (Y/n) had the benefit of taking her sweet time.
Hikaru had tossed a dress that he had presented to her on a mannequin (which proved that the garment would be extremely skimpy), as did Kaoru, but Mori and Tamaki were quick to jump in and remove her from the dresses and to a changing room. She was promptly handed a dapper suit and told to get ready.
(Y/n) had slipped the (somewhat) formal wear on, making sure that everything fell just right. It didn’t take long until she had called for someone to help her with her hair as she had little intention to wear makeup, and if she were to, it’d be very little.
A servant of the family had slipped into the room and started to brush through her hair, and decided to curl it just the slightest. It fell to frame her features perfectly, and as the servant left and she did some light makeup, a smile started to spread across her face.
For once, a formal event left her excited. Whether that was her suppression of the fear from the day before or a weird way to redirect it, she didn’t know, but she enjoyed the feeling. The fact that the thought was leaving her excited also drove her to fluff her hair a little bit before grabbing her cell phone and her bag.
As she was on her way out of her room, she stopped and looked in the mirror. With her hair done, some makeup on, and a dress that usually would skip over unless she had a good reason - she paused. She stood stock-still and looked over herself in the mirror, seemingly glancing over a girl who she didn’t recognize.
It was so different than her typical baggy t-shirt and torn jeans, so much so that she couldn’t believe that it was actually her reflection. She looked...pretty, for once, not grunge-y and dark. It brought more confidence to her as she texted Tamaki that she was on her way to the school.
She got into the limo that he had sent for her, and she was on track for the academy.
Haruhi had been getting prepped at the academy, courtesy of the host club. Kyoya and Tamaki were making sure that the decor of the ballroom was up to par, the twins were waiting beside the hairstylist and makeup artist they had hired for her, and Mori and Honey were greeting and making conversation with the females that had decided to attend the event.
Annoyance was a familiar expression on her face as she had tools prodding at it and people pulling her hair in what was supposedly called ‘styling’. She was willing to put up with it for the night, though, if it meant that (Y/n) would be able to see her.
She didn’t know how this would have hit her, but she was finished not long after a knock was heard on the door. She was already full with an odd mixture of fear and excitement, but when she saw the (h/c) female walk in, her jaw almost refused to leave the floor. If it weren’t for Hikaru, it most certainly would have stayed there.
Tamaki had rushed into the room, got a view of his little cousin all dolled up, and ran to hug her tightly. The air left her lungs for a second, but that was prevented due to Mori pulling him off her. A small ‘thanks’ was uttered before she was pushed towards Haruhi.
The image in front of her held the same power that she had to Haruhi. She, the troublemaker who refused to keep her mouth shut, was left speechless. Her hair was done in a refined manner, her face held some light touch-ups, and the suit that she donned was making her features appear more clean and sharp.
“Wow, you look...you look gorgeous, (Y/n).”
“I could say the same to you, Haruhi.”
The whole of the hosts watched on in intrigue, waiting for someone to say something more, but that was interrupted in favor of discussion. After all, each of them had to uphold a specific image for the night, and if that was a failure to up hold, well...beware the wrath of an annoyed Kyoya and an angered Tamaki.
It took around fifteen minutes to make sure everything was covered accurately and thoroughly, and the club was left to the night.
They made an announcement, presenting the festivities of the night and the reward for the best dancer. Similarly to the previous year, the winner would receive a kiss from Tamaki, and the night would go on.
Everything had begun with extravagance, catering was going on and handling the plethora of attendees with quick succession. (Y/n) had the pleasure of witnessing Haruhi go googly-eyed at the mention of fancy tuna for the umpteenth time, busting out laughing at the image of her holding a plate in one hand and a fork in the other, stuffing the food in gleefully.
In contrast to Haruhi, (Y/n)’s interest was peaked by the amount of shenanigans that she could pull overnight. The doors were open to the club, and if there were rooms left out and were lacking anyone inside them, that meant that those were primary times to pull pranks. She had already snuck out of the ballroom to a supply closet to create chaos in a staff room nearby. Haruhi had watched her run off and enact her plan, refusing to stop her in favor of watching the glowing glee that radiated from her as she did so.
Everything that had been happening was being monitored by Tamaki, and alongside Kyoya, the twins, Mori, and Honey-senpai; they were almost ready to push the big plan into action.
Operation (Ship/name) was to be put into action in T-minus ten minutes.
The night had continued to pass by happily, and around the start of the competition, Hikaru and Kaoru had dragged (Y/n) and Haruhi off (respectively) into different hallways. They had to interrupt their conversations, but everything was just starting.
While Kyoya had been initially keeping an eye of the plan, he had requested that Mori and Honey stand by the twins while the competition was being done. Tamaki was stood beside him and had provided specific action for the duo as before they took their leave. Thankfully, a majority of the attendees were caught up in the night, and failed to notice the group of hosts leaving.
As the twins had brought the respective person to an assigned room, they had made sure that the lights were kept off for a bit longer. The subjects of the plan were left to wander around the room in the dark, eventually finding themselves by bumping into the other.
When the quartet had heard the sound, they had made a quick job in turning the ceiling-rigged lights on. This left the two under an indoor view of sparkling lights that mimicked that of stars, making the two realize that something had been planned. (Y/n) had remained staring at the ceiling lights while Haruhi was left staring at the floor, only then letting the situation hit her.
The two of them had remained in their own little worlds as Mori had let the curtain blocking balcony open, leaving moonlight to creep into the impeccably decorated interior and allow it to glow under the night sky. Everything seemed too surreal to be generally close to reality, but the setting provided a sense of pride and comfort for the (h/c) female, which then led her to make a brash decision.
“Hey, uh, Haruhi?”
The said brunette lifted her head from the tiled floor to make eye contact with her, and the view that met her sight left her breathless for the hundredth time that night. The glow from the moon let her features pop, almost made her appear to be glittering, and she couldn’t form any coherent thought for a second.
Eventually, something did come to her head, but it took an extra prod from aforementioned female to do so. “Uh, yeah? What is it?”
“Well, I...”
The hidden group had stood behind in a dark corner, watching the scene before them unfold. Honey-senpai had a hand pressed against his mouth as he gripped Usa-chan tightly, Mori maintaining his stoic face despite his eyes, and the twins gracing michevious grins. Tamaki and Kyoya had left to ‘deliberate’ on the winner, but they were watching with interest from a corner opposite to that of the other four - Tamaki had his own han dclosed around his mouth so no squeals of joy could be heard in the quiet room.
“I, uh...I like...you.”
Haruhi’s eyes widened at her shy declaration. She had known the girl for a while, but she had never expected this to be how she handled something like this. Normally, she’d jump right in and shout the claim, not beat around it and stutter. This shocked her, and before she could utter a response, (Y/n) had spoken again.
“Listen, I know you may not like me, or you do - whatever. I just needed to get this off my chest, and if your answer is no, don’t be afraid to tell me.” She came off as bold, but one look in her eyes would tell even the most unaware being on planet Earth that she was truly terrified of the answer.
“(Y/n), I like you, too.”
It took everything in the viewing crowd’s power to keep themselves from shouting praises and congratulations at the two females.
(Y/n) lips twitched upwards, forming the largest smile anyone of the group had seen on her face. It didn’t match the usual mischief that it normally did, nor did it seem like she was hiding something; for once, it looked like a real smile from a place of happiness rather than benefit. “Really? Great, I just feel the need to warn you of something before you say anything else, if you even decide to do so.”
Haruhi’s interest in the statement was brought to the speaker’s attention as she continued, “I get that I have a bad rep, and that what comes out of my mouth could rival that of a sailor. And, despite that, I’d normally jump at the chance to ask you out, but...”
The crowd of hosts watched on in anticipation, both worried and hopeful that thei rnew declared OTP would hop onboard the ship and allow it to sail.
“I just want you to have a good time here, and I don’t want any of my fuck-ups to reflect on you. People here are vicious, and you’re already in the vein of students that get shit on. I should be the only one to deal with any stupid fucking repercussions from my own bullshit, and I don’t want to pull you into it. Now that I’ve told you that, you can tell me if you’d-”
The interruption was very sudden, and the way that it was done left even the hosts shocked. Haruhi had pulled (Y/n) to her and kissed her, preventing her from continuing her worried rant. A few seconds had passed before the magical moment ended.
The both of them were left breathless following the contact, and Haruhi’s next words brought joy to the (h/c)’s face. “I don’t give a damn about your reputation, all I know is that I like you and would like to date you.”
Tamaki had watched on in calm glee, the scene giving him a sense of joy that he hasn’t felt in a while. Seeing his troubled sister come out of her previous stump so strong made him so proud, and brought a new sense of pride to him along with it. She has truly shown that she has changed for the better while maintaining her typical attitude towards that world.
“Thank fuck! Okay, now that that’s done, you wanna dance with me, your newfound girlfriend?”
“But there’s no music, (Y/n),” Haruhi chuckled out. A gentle smile sat on her lips as she spoke.
“You think I give a damn? We don’t need any music to dance, y’know.”
Music had started to play from the background, cued by Tamaki pressing play on the radio remote. Speakers blasted a gentle slow song, and though the girls were now made freshly aware of the said blonde’s actions, they decided to forego any ounce of annoyance in favor of each other’s arms around the other’s waist.
The slight squeak of (Y/n)’s boots and the slight shuffle of Haruhi’s suit was comforting the to whole of the club.
Before long, the two had ended their short dance, allowing the six men that stood watching from the corners to reveal their presence. They had made it clear that they were only doing this to make sure everything went smoothly for the both of them, but before their short spiel could be completed, (Y/n) ran and jumped onto her cousin’s torso. If Tamaki’s hug left her breathless, her hug left him completely dead.
The group had left the girls together in the room while they had decided on the winner in another room, and when they were done, they had gone to gather the girls for the announcement.
Once the winner was crowned and the night had regained any sense of energy that it had lost, the new couple had made their way to the dance floor. The spectacle of two members of the club dancing together had left some of the attending students speechless, but the two remained unbothered as they had waltzed around the floor gracefully.
Some people had watched on in awe at the two, never stepping in to stop them. Some of the viewers also gushed at the image, presumably falling victim to the ship that they had shown over the span of the year to this point.
Once the end of the song was coming to the climax, (Y/n) had returned the kiss that was given to her by Haruhi earlier in the middle of the floor. The onlookers’ jaws had hit the floor as they continued to get into the action, the twins watching the scene while trying to suppress their laughter at the expressions of the people around them.
When (Y/n) pulled away from the lip-lock, she laughed at the incredulous expression that rested on Haruhi’s face before flicking her shoulder. “You little-”
“Oh, trust me, baby - I already know.”
The crowd had let the moment pass somewhat, and the night continued along well. As the night was ending, though, some people had shot dirty looks at the two. This, of course, prompted (Y/n) to flip them the bird and a formal ‘Fuck you’ as they exited the building.
“Was that really called for (Y/n)?” Haruhi asked in amusement, watching as she shrugged her shoulders.
“A girl can do what she wants to do, and that’s what I’m gonna do.”
The remainder of the night was left to the club, Kyoya directing the staff to clean whatever mess there was the other five males were left to their own devices. The girls had left the commotion in favor of the starlit room, leaning against the balcony and watching the clouds in the slightly-chilly night sky move in formation.
As they had been throwing out suggestinos as to what shape they were forming as they moved, Haruhi proposed another question for the (h/c) beside her. “What about your reputation? Wouldn’t dating a scholarship student ruin that for you?”
(Y/n) paused, did a double-take to her and the ledge she was leaning on, and spoke up. “Please don’t tell me that you’re asking the same damn thing I did earlier? I already have a bad rep, and I frankly don’t care about it.”
“But, it might make it worse-”
“I don’t give a damn ‘bout my bad reputation, and I would highly appreciate it if you would refrain from claiming that you would be detrimental to it. I taint my reputation, nobody else.”
“Fine, fine....”

From Baby to Babe~
I once wrote this https://miss-choco-chips.tumblr.com/post/190983954737/theres-a-point-in-all-the-rouges-gallerys-lives and @theturdis wanted a fic about it, so... Just remember, you asked for this hon. This ain’t my fault.
Tagging @animemangasoul who just told me to tag them the next time I wrote something.
Fair warning everyone, I somehow did this in one sitting, and, I can’t stress this enough, there’s no edit whatsoever. Like, none. Enjoy, if you can ignore the eyesore of my multiple mistakes.
----.----
Bruce despairs in the knowledge of his sons growing up hot.
---.---
When Dick came back to Gotham as the new Nightwing for the first time ever… well.
Bruce didn't like to think about the first suit, back then. All those feathers and glitter, the plunging V neck, the mullet… His son had insisted on it being the trend at the time. Bruce just couldn't grasp how was he supposed to blend into the night and take anyone by surprise. There was too much... everything, and not nearly enough stealth.
He was an innocent man, back then. He looked at a horse gift in the mouth and was completely blindsided when it raised on it’s hind legs and kicked him where it hurted.
When Selina approached him a few weeks after N had come to him with the blueprints of his new suit, he had been quiet relaxed. Or as relaxed as one can be when crouched like a gargoyle and looking over the city. He was just getting back on track after… Jason (it still hurted, and probably always would, to think about him), his new partner helping in ways he couldn’t foresee, violence tampered by Tim’s brilliant smile every time he came to Bruce with the answer to a particularly difficult riddle he had been having trouble with. He had to get his act together, because Tim was so bright, mind so beyond what Bruce could ever aspire to, and he was at such an impressionable age… If Batman allowed himself to fall deeper into despair, he would set a dangerously bad example to the kid, which could be really damaging… to the world at large. He was the kind of kid that B wanted on the side of Justice, because the opposite would be quite catastrophic.
So yes, he had been very distracted lately, merely glancing over Dick’s blueprints, noticing the lack of brilliantine and gold, and giving his wholehearted approval.
Stupid, innocent man he was. He had needed Catwoman of all people to open his eyes.
(To this day, he still wondered about Alfred’s reason for not warning him sooner. Perhaps, and this was the theory he had running, the old butler had been just so delighted at seeing the Disco suit gone, he would approve almost everything in its place, and Dick’s virtue had never been his responsibility to preserve, so to hell with it.
Betrayal always hurted the worse when it came from those closest to you)
-Hey handsome.
-Cat.
She rolled her eyes, already beyond his brood, and just walked out of the light, joining him into the shadows with a sigh at his dramatics.
-No theft today?
The woman grimaced a bit, letting herself fall at his side with as much grace as she did everything else. Diamond claws scratched at her scalp, carefully not tearing the frail skin, and Batman finally conceded and turned his head to look at her directly. She was never so hesitant.
-Look. I really, really don’t want to be the one telling you this. I would literally rather leave this to anyone else, but… it’s getting out of hand.
-What is it?
-Nightwing. Hadn’t you noticed anything about him?
That got whatever rest of his attention she hadn’t already caught. Speaking of his sons always had that effect on him.
-What happened to him?
-Nothing, just… He’s been out a lot, hasn’t he? I thought he didn’t operate in the city as much…
She was stalling, which was worryingly out of character for Selina. But since this was about Nightwing, he had to be patient and let her talk her way into whatever information she was going to lay on him.
-I’ve been… -training a new Robin, not that he could tell her that- busy, lately. He’s picking up the slack while I’m focusing on it -a.k.a helping him both patrol the streets and teach Tim.
-I noticed the changes, yes, whatever therapy you’re doing is great for you -she encouraged, more honest than he thought her capable of. He could already see her deadpan when she figured out the reason for his change, his ‘therapy’ as she put it, was an eleven year old thrusting himself at this dangerous life of his.
-Hm.
-Well… Anything noteworthy about him lately? Crime Fighting related?
Since she was stressing the words so much, he gave them deep thought.
-He has been on a streak lately. A lot more arrests… What’s your point?
He could almost see the second she internally said ‘fuck it’ and just blurted everything out.
-That’s because his new suit is, and this is coming from me, B, indecent, and every criminal out there is focusing more on his ass than his punches and flips so he’s kicking ass easier.
Bruce kicked his way to the forefront of his mind, the father in him hip checking the vigilante out of the way so he could properly freak out.
What? He knew the suit was a lot more tight than the former one, but he’d been so relieved at it being mostly black he hadn’t given more than a cursory look… and he barely saw the man in it, often training together in workout clothes and coming and going to patrol at different times. He… wasn’t prepared for this.
-Excuse me?
-I’m sorry, someone had to tell you. Normally, I’d be completely on board with a suit change from boring to daring, and you know of my good relationship with leather, but I’ve literally seen that kid grow up. If I have to listen to Harley talking about Nightwing’s ass one more time, Ivy won’t need to worry any more about the Joker killing her, because I will do it myself.
He wanted to thank her for standing up for his son, but he was still busy internally screaming.
-You want to hear Riddle’s last work? While looking directly at N, he asked ‘is buttcheeks one word? Or should I spread them?’. And then he winked. Winked, B. At your eighteen year old kid. You need to get your ass on gear and make sure Nighting changes his. I mean, I’m getting used to it, but you’ve been doing great lately, violent wise, and I’d hate for you to relapse because you heard Zsaasz asking N to tie his ropes tighter and harder.
B… needed to go back to the cave and call N back early. They had to talk.
----.----
When Jason came back, the first thing to break past the ‘holy shit my son is alive’ wall surrounding his brain was just how tall he had grown. How strong, how broad, how big. The little boy he had picked up from the street, underfeed and hurting everywhere, had turned out almost bigger than B himself and twice as brave. The wave of pride he felt was massive, but the feeling was short lived.
Jason was killing criminals, had even attempted to murder Tim. Even if the father in him could, in his desperation, try and overlook the first bit, the same side couldn’t get past the second. Tim was as much his as Jason, and he couldn't turn a blind eye to it.
The relief of him being back that overflowed from Bruce clashed horribly with Batman’s unbending morals, and the two sides warred for days for control. The attack on his youngest son had been the deciding factor in who finally won; Bruce couldn’t fight the darkness in him when he needed it to help protect Robin from his predecessor, as much as it pained him.
Theirs was a long road, a difficult path to come back together as a family after so many mistakes on both parts (more his than Jason’s, he knew, but admitting so was so hard…), but they had finally, finally came back together. All his children, sitting around the dinning table at the manor, throwing food at each other behind Alfred’s back, Dick failing to give Jason a noogie, Tim succeeding in elbowing his way past both of them to claim first picks over the brownies, Damian rolling his eyes while sneakily drawing in his notebook what B suspected was a portrait of the three of them, Cass and Steph laughing at their antics… His heart felt like it could give out.
Again, his mind was anywhere but in… that. Already used to the dirty looks aimed at Nighting, he focused his anger into strength behind every punch, taking care to kick specially hard when aiming at the criminal’s genitals as light punishment for the lust they aimed at his oldest, but not longer trying to essentially castrate them.
He had the hang of it, and it was just one child. He could do damage control with one, it wasn’t that hard. Stephanie wasn’t really his, just under his protection as a mentor, and even then, she was mostly Barbara’s; Cass could and would take care of anyone who dared look at her in a way she didn’t like, so she was also good. Seventeen year old Tim and thirteen year old Damian were babies, so they wouldn't be an issue for a long, long time.
And then. And then, Steph had opened her mouth.
-Why can’t Tim do this? -she had whined, raising the heels to eye level and studying them with profound distaste- I hate fighting on these. He’s much better than me at that anyway, and he makes a hotter chick than I when he goes full out on his undercover gig.
Red Robin, who was walking past her on his way to the training mats, high fived her.
Barbara’s voice came from the Batcomputer, Oracle’s voice filter not needed while they still were on the Cave.
-Because he and Jason can’t act like a couple for more than two hours before one of them breaks into hives or laughter, and this is an all night long gig.
-Then why can’t Tim and Dick go? You just need a girl as pretty arm candy distaction, the guy is the one who’s gonna do the work, and Nightwing can take care of a few drug dealers himself.
-While Dick is certainly pretty enough to gain permission to enter this very private party -the man, stretching with Tim, stopped mid motion to give the computer finger guns. Barbara coughed to cover a laugh and kept going-, the goal is for him to be invited into the boss’s personal office, and we can only do that if he’s interested in what he sees. From what Tim gathered for me on his last recon, he favours… Jason’s body types more than Dick’s.
Bruce, who was just getting out of the locker room, suit fully in place except from the cowl, raised an eyebrow at that, stopping to analyze his second oldest. Tilting his head, and still as confused, he asked what would undoubtedly bring him an unhealthy amount of regret in the very near future.
-What does that mean? Jason’s...body type? You mean tall? Dick is also pretty tall.
There was total silence in the cave for a few moments. Dick and Tim got up from their positions, shared a look, and made a run for the showers, claiming they were ready for patrol (they weren’t, not warmed up enough, but he had other things to focus on now). Damian, already fully suited, tutted and dragged the hood of his cape over his face, almost completely covering it. Cass looked on impassively, and Stephanie seemed to be getting a worryingly amount of glee from whatever this was.
Jason himself was… blushing? What?
-Who’s gonna tell him? -finally asked Barbara, amusement breaking her professional facade.
-Oh, me, me! Let me do this!
Apparently still a naive man, he nodded at the blonde, ready for someone to clear this up for him.
He was regaled with a half an hour long rant about biceps, pecs, and thighs that could compete against tree trunks and win. It was supported by apparent citations from different criminals that ranged from appreciative to full on scandalous.
In the end, everyone left the cave, Batgirl with a notorious spring on her step, and Bruce had to stay home instead of going out, needing the night to fully process about his second son, almost twenty one but twelve in his mind’s eye, apparently featuring in multiple Arkham calendars.
He came out of that realization a scarred man, to say the least.
-----.-----
It was barely a few months after his traumatic chat with Stephanie when it happened again. He’d like to say he was ready for this.
He wasn’t.
When Conner Kent found him, he was completely focused on his WE’s work. For once on the office, with the TV providing some white noise in the background, he was fully prepared for a day catching up. He couldn’t keep letting Tim take over most of the work, the kid deserved to have a normal (or as normal as any of them could achieve) teenage life.
He was of course notified the moment the meta breached the city’s limits, but figured he was here on Titan’s business or hanging out with Tim. The light knock on his office window was a big surprise.
-This is unexpected, Conner. What can I do for you? -he greeted after letting him in- Tim isn’t here today, he’s giving a press conference.
-Yeah, I know. I’m actually here for you. We, the team, heard from Tim you’re making the blueprints for his next suit.
This conversation was already going in a very confusing way. Why did they care about Tim’s gear?
-Yes?
-Well, you need to double check with us before you show anything to him -something akin to indignant surprise must have shown in his face, because the meta quickly raised both hands-. We don’t mean that as you needing our approval, of course you’d know better how to keep a non-meta well protected. We know jackshit about kevlar and armor. But it’s the… style, that has us worried.
He let the anger bleed out of him, replaced with puzzlement.
-What do you mean?
Conner looked down, as if gathering strength, then up and straight into Bruce’s eyes, a feat very few younger heroes could achieve. This was serious.
-Tim isn’t big like Jason, or as… stretchy as Dick, but he has… very, very attractive features. I won’t go into detail with you about how thin his waist is, how shapely his legs or cute his ass. That’s not something I need to say or you to hear.
Yes, it definitely wasn’t. Bruce was having an inkling as to where this was headed, and he didn’t like it. Tim was a baby! Barely eighteen and so damn small!
-But I do need to tell you, his ugly ass suits have been good at keeping that all on the downlow. We made fun of him for them, sure, but never encouraged him to change, because we know what will happen if he does. It would be awful. You think Nightwing and Red Hood have it rough? Tim has Ra’s Al Ghul’s undivided attention and appreciation. If we add attraction to it? Mayhem. Absolute mayhem. We can barely keep him from being kidnapped by older, nasty villains as it is. We don’t need the extra work, sir. I’m begging you on behalf of the team, don’t let him get anything that would look good on him. Like that Untranet suit he told me about, for example. That one would be so bad. Or the Red Robin one with tighter pants and a domino under the cowl so he can take it out and flash the world his luscious hair.
Bruce fell back into his desk chair. Elbows resting on the table, he buried his face into his hands.
A long silence filled the room.
-You already approved and made one of those, right?
A small, shaky nod.
-...The Ultranet one?
A firm shake.
-Fuck me. The Red Robin with tighter pants and domino?
Another nod. Conner sat abruptly on the empty chair in the other side of the desk, like a puppet with its strings cut.
-Well, fuck.
Fuck indeed.
Bruce despaired.
----.----
This time, he would be ready. He swore it on his honor, on his oath, on his parents.
So when Damian turned sixteen, growth spurt kicking in (he towed over Tim, and it wouldn’t be long until he left Dick in the dust as well), he made a thought but necessary call.
He phoned Talia.
-We need to talk. About Damian, and… sex appeal.
Her shock was evident even through the phone.
-Excuse me? My son is a child. He has no such thing.
He closed his eyes. Once, a long time ago, he’d been just as naive. Now he knew better.
It was a hard lesson to learn, but she needed to. And quickly. Damian was growing faster than his other children. Time was of essence.
-Let me tell you what I wish I knew years ago, when Dick decided to change his Nightwing suit.
She was probably going to hate him for opening her eyes like this, but Bruce just couldn't do this alone.
He could deal with Talia’s hate, but criminals lusting after his baby son? Hell no. He might actually go rouge.

SOULMATE AU HEADCANONS
the girls of the team <3
so *cough* I struggle to write from a male perspective, and also it's pride month so try and stop me? these are all either mega gay or gender neutral.
ARTEMIS CROCK
matching tattoos (different then Jaimes headcanons)
the arrow tattoo on your shoulder was usually what people noticed about you first.
it was a stark contrast against the colour of your skin, so it was easily spotted.
one of the reasons that, when your mother dragged you into a life of crime and villainy, you had to wear sleeves.
sleeves are for chumps.
you didn't really have a choice with the whole villainy thing, but you went along with it to please your mother.
after a little while, she deemed you a good enough fighter to present you to the light, who began to use you as a pawn, much like many of the teen villains that the light had under their wing.
you run into the team on a mission nothing after being brought to the Light.
You almost instantly die during the fight because your too distracted by the blonde teen with the arrow tattoo to focus on not getting your ass kicked by Robin.
When one of his birdarangs slices the sleeve from your shoulder, you begin to focus.
Only for everyone else to stop when Robin yells in surprise.
your tattoo is showing. The fight sort of slows.
the team was winning anyway, Icicle Jr is on the ground, held down by one of Zatannas spells, and Mammoth had been trapped in a metal shipping container by Superboy.
'that's not something you see everyday' Robin says.
but you throw down a gas bomb and vanish before Artemis can talk to you.
She isn't one to dance around stuff, she'll hunt you down to talk to you.
you've got an apartment to yourself, there's a knock at the door and suddenly there's this ponytail blonde chick in your apartment.
'do you have any idea how hard it is to find you? ever?'
once you figure out who she is, the two of you talk - without you gas bombing your way out of the situation.
the two of you start meeting up for coffee, then dates.
suddenly you wake up to Cheshire in your apartment asking about your intentions with her sister.
the same thing happens a week later when Sportsmaster gets wind of what was happening.
why does her family resort to violence so quickly? you've had to dodge three ninja stars and a baseball bat this week alone.
God help you.
Artemis is there though, to help you out and tell her family to calm the hell down.
you'd be fairly quick at jumping over to the team to avoid your mother. as always, Artemis is right there to help her soulmate out.
MEGAN
danger meter
you weren’t sure how to react on the day your soulmates danger meter hit 10.
you were about fifteen when it happened. and you had no idea what to think considering no one anywhere near your age had anything over a 5.
life went on as normal as it could after that.
every now and again you would get questions about it, from friends or families.
about how your number is so high, how dangerous your soulmate is.
as you get older, people begin to avoid you, stemming from the belief that your soulmate is one of the many chaotic villains that appear across the world.
you’re seventeen when you run into your soulmate during an attack in your home on Rhode Island. Living so close to happy harbour always seemed to attract trouble it seemed.
Theres screams and explosions from the street ahead of you, and fueled by curiosity, you run ahead to see whats happening.
Only to have a block of concrete hurled in your direction.
It stops centimetres from your face, glowing a faint green before being pulled away and thrown back at the source.
“Are you alright?” a soft voice asks you, almost right away you realise this girl is your soulmate, and you can understand why the danger number is so high.
Shes a hero, and a powerful one at that considering how she just saved your life.
“uh yeah, i’m fine” you stammer out and she smiles. sticking out her hand and introducing herself.
one of the other heroes calls out at her, telling her to focus on the battle and make introductions later.
She promises to talk to you after the fight, and suddenly your like a mile away and a ginger boy is giving you a mock salute before vanishing into a yellow blue.
not even twenty minutes later and Megan is there, happily reintroducing herself and asking if the two of you can hang out.
you ask about the danger number, yours in fairly low, but your curious as to why hers is so high.
She explains her martian powers as best she can to you, but they are a little confusing for someone who has never been exposed to that sort of stuff before.
Megan is a little bit of a hopeless romantic, so she may jump too quickly into a relationship with you, assuming since you are soulmates that you have to be together.
It’ll take a little bit of talking between you two to understand what you both actually want in a relationship.
Honestly and trust being one of them.
you sometimes worry when she goes on long missions and you’re not updated on her status. Nightwing likes to keep you in the loop, par a request from the martian herself.
ZATANNA ZATARA
red string of fate
if there is anything more fitting with Zatanna’s abilities, its the red string of fate,
A endless blood red string that is attached and tied around the pinky of two individuals. only those two people can see their string, and it becomes tighter the closer one is to their soulmate,
You never really paid attention to your string. It never became taut, always hanging loosely.
You mostly ignored it to be honest.
rather focusing on your school work and trying to balance your work with Lexcorp.
you were just an intern there, but it could be a huge stepping stone to another career for you.
university is a bit of a struggle sometimes. so when you get a break from your work and your friends take you for a day trip in DC you are glad for a break from the workload.
visiting the hall of justice had always been a dream for you, something that was definitely on your bucket list.
so you are basically dragging your friends up the front steps.
as your looking around the exhibits, the string around your finger seems to be almost pulling you, then it's definitely pulling you.
towards two girls in casual clothes talking by the door.
one has brown skin with short hair and is taking rather loud.
the other, you have to take in a breath to realise how pretty she is.
and also the fact that attached to her finger is the other end of your string.
'hi' you seem to appear out of nowhere for them. Your soul mate asks why you suddenly are talking to them, and you raise your hand to show her.
she's kind of in shock for a second and rocket is just, living for it.
'ohhhhhh your soulmate! yes girl!'
she's really not helping your nerves.
you three chat for a little before exchanging numbers with Zatanna - as she introduced herself - and running of with your friends to the next tourist stop.
Zatanna basically tells the whole team when she gets back and they're all ecstatic for her.
you two text a lot since you're busy with school and work, and she's got this super secret job she can't talk about.
She ends up telling you later however when you two are much closer and she feels she can trust you more.
Zatanna would be the best girlfriend. if you're ever feeling down, she's right there to cheer you up no matter what.
she's got your back and you've got hers.
date night's aren't really a thing because of how busy you guys are.
mostly just hanging out in your dorm while you work on a project and she leans up against you, asleep. resting after a mission.
we love you guys
some more soulmate headcanons cause you guys made them my most liked posts!!
the next fic (unless I get a request) will be a Wondergirl one!!
REQUESTS ARE OPEN, THROW THEM IN MY ASKS

Meeting and Dating Melvin Moody
(Not my gif)(Requested via message)
- You met Moody in your gym class. As a friend of Clifford's, you’d heard a lot of rants about the boy but you’d never actually met him until you walked into class on the first day of school.
- Joining all the other girls on the bleachers, you watched your friend and the rest of the boys in class play a game of basketball. That was when Moody began pushing the smaller boy around.
- Clifford was thrown to the floor and you promptly rushed out onto the court to check if he was okay, feeling your blood boil as Moody and the other kids laughed. Obviously, Moody was shocked to see you at the boys side; he couldn’t understand how a loser like Clifford managed to get a hot chick to be around him, let alone care about his well being.
- For the most part, your first meeting was pretty anticlimatic. You took Clifford to the nurse and that was that. ...Except Moody began to constantly flirt with you, so much so that it was beginning to annoy the hell out of you.
- Overtime, Clifford noticed that Moody was always looking at you whenever the two of you were together. For a while, he thought that he was the reason Moody was looking, after all, the boy would glare at Clifford half of the time he caught him watching.
“He’s staring y/n. He wants to destroy me, I just know it.”
- Then he realizes it wasn’t him Moody was staring at. He asked you to get him a drink, watching the bully who was now focused on your moving form. When you returned, he had this nervous, almost embarrassed look on his face.
“Y/n... I have another favor. Now this one is incredibly important, okay?” He was speaking like he was in pain.
“Geez Clifford, you’re scaring me.” You replied worriedly.
“I need you to date Moody.”
“What the fuck Clifford.”
“No really y/n. He’s constantly staring at you. If you go on a date with him you can convince him to leave me alone.”
- You called him insane, refusing to even entertain the idea as you began to finish your lunch. He told you to look over at the boy who; when you turned, was in fact looking at you. After a significant amount of begging and pleading, you sighed and finally agreed, telling him that he owed you.
- And so, you stood up and made your way over to Moody who instantly locked his eyes on you with a smirk plastered across his face.
“Hey there doll.” You could already tell he was enjoying this. You had to give him credit, he could be pretty smooth when he wanted to be.
“Moody...It’s come to my attention that you find me attractive.”
- Your comment wiped the smirk right off his face. He gulped; hoping that you didn’t notice his nervousness, and tilted his head with a questioning glance.
“Is that so?”
“Sure is. Now Moody, if I agree to a date with you will you leave Clifford alone.”
“Kissing included on this date?” A smug grin made its way onto his face.
“...We’ll see.” You gritted your teeth. For Clifford, this is for Clifford.
“I guess you have yourself a deal then sweetheart.”
- So after school, the two of you walked to the sandwich shop that everyone went to when class ended. At first you just about wanted to kill yourself, doing everything in your power to stick it through. That was until he dropped his cocky exterior; noticing that you really didn’t enjoy it.
- Once he started acting like himself, you actually found him charming and funny. You actually began to like the boy which made you feel evil in a way.
- He walked you home, asking when he could take you out again as you stepped inside your front door. You thought about it for a moment. This was the school bully, your friends bully.
- As much as it made you feel like you were missing out on something and like you were a horrible, fake person; you turned him down, saying goodbye and shutting your door on him. He took it well, if well mean’t storming off and bullying Clifford even worse after that.
- The boy seemed to be perpetually angry, glaring at the people around you and being even more of a menace than he usually was. You still felt horrible weeks after the situation but what could you do?
- Then it happened. After class one day; one you unfortunately had with Moody, another boy came up to you as you were leaving the room, complimenting you and confessing that he liked you as he asked you out on a date. You replied that you would get back to him, quickly excusing yourself and heading to your next class.
- You thought nothing of it until you found Moody tormenting the kid in the hallway later that day. The boy didn’t back down which was the worse thing you could do when Moody picked a fight with you, especially with his goons around.
- You cringed as Moody’s fist connected with his jaw. He would’ve thrown another punch if you hadn’t stepped in and gotten between the two. Moody; already sporting a few bruises and a bloody nose, was panting angrily as you put your hand on his chest to keep him from moving forward.
- Curses and insults were hissed at the boy as he got up behind you. Before you knew it, Moody had seized you by your wrist and wrapped an arm around you, smashing his lips to yours in front of everyone.
- He made a few comments to the boy about how “you were his” as you stood there stunned. He then proceeded to grab your arm, dragging you away from the crowd and outside the school doors. He did ask you out properly after that, and you finally agreed with a promise from him that he wouldn’t beat up anymore people.
- You’re pretty much known as the school’s saving grace. With you around, Moody actual makes an effort to be nice, or at least not bully anyone.
- Constant pda, this boy does not leave you alone at any given time.
- He’s actually a really soft guy, even if it’s just with you. In public he might act like a jerk but you’re his girl and the only one he knows really likes him without having to be threatened so, to him, you’re an angel that should be treated as such.
- He’s definitely pulled a fire alarm to get you out of class so that he could see you or because he knows you don’t want to be there.
- You’re basically his mirror 90% of the time.
“Babe does my hair look fine? What about my jacket?”
- You’re called a lot of pet names; babe, sweetheart and hotstuff are just a few.
- Since he was one of them, he knows how playboys think which usually results in him being jealous of any guy that tries to flirt with or compliment you; or just about anyone who looks at you a little too much for his liking.
- Wearing his jacket.
- His arms draped loosely around you as you sit between his legs.
- Your poor neck is constantly attacked. He’s constantly kissing and teasingly nipping at it. You do the same to him, thinking it’ll get him to knock it off a little but he genuinely enjoys it so you just have to put up with it.
- Getting pushed up against deserted hallways walls.
- Any class you have together, you can rest assured that he’s going to have the seat next to you. He will not allow someone else to have it; he just won’t.
- Teasing poking his chest or dragging a finger along it whenever he wears one of his unbuttoned shirts. It gives him goosebumps every time.
- Cute conversations while cuddling. The two of you cuddle either spooning or in the “honeymoon hug” position.
- You force him to work things out with Clifford. His apology isn’t the least bit sincere but Clifford accepts it since he knows it’s the best he’s going to get out of him.
- He acts all cocksure in public but blushes and stutters if you hold his hand or hug him. He’s a total nerd but only you’re allowed to know that.
- Innocent affection; in general, makes him nervous. He isn’t used to it though he knows he likes it; at least when it’s you.
- Getting surprise gifts; most of them are little and inexpensive but you adore them all the same. Just don’t ask where he got the money.
- Calling him Melvin just to annoy him.
- Getting flexed and winked at during gym class. You bend over in his line of vision in retaliation. You’ve genuinely made him get trampled during basketball because of said retaliation; he stopped and stared as the ball came towards him then BAM.
- Affectionate insulting.
- Jokingly making fun of each other.
- He’s usually gets pretty bored when you’re not around. Before you started dating, he was fine, but then you came along and showed him how much fun he could have, now he knows he could be having a better time and it annoys the hell out of him.
- You can actually tell the moment he sees you because he instantly straightens, his eyes lightening up and a smirk gracing his features.
- He’s pretty protective in general but god forbid you get sick or injured. He’s at your side in an instant, threatening people and making demands as he looks you over.
“Stop breathing, she needs more air.”
- No one dares mess with you so it isn’t very often that you have problems with people. Most of them tend to treat you like you have some kind of disease, keeping their distance as much as possible.
- He’s not a very open person but you can tell that he trusts and loves you, even if he isn’t keen on using his words to express it.
- Small prank wars.
- Occasionally he’s just going to have to act like an asshole; even to you, just to try and keep up his touch guy reputation. You don’t know how many times he apologizes when the two of you are finally alone together.
- Most of the girls in school are envious of you, you think it’s sort of funny since they don’t even know the real him.
- Sexual innuendos.
- Sometimes you’ll just grab his hand and doodle on his arm. He pretends like he hates it but he wears his sleeves up for the rest of the day.
- He’s sort of jealous of Clifford and very jealous of Ricky. He fucks up a lot and figures that one day you’ll just get sick of him and give up, moving on to one of them. He never lets you know this but you can tell from the bitterness in his voice when he asks if you “had fun” while you tell him who you were hanging out with.
- When you’re alone together, he’s really interested in what you have to say and actually likes hearing about your day.
- He kind of hates when you ask him about his because he’s self conscious, thinking he’ll seem boring, dumb or just like an asshole to you. He tends to just brush off the question, hoping you’ll just let it go.
- Teach this boy how to handle his emotions and feelings, just please teach him. He’s so used to being a jerk-off and pretending to be someone he’s not that he doesn’t know how to functionally be himself.
- He doesn’t really like not being in control, it makes him sort of uncomfortable because he’s completely out of his element. Like he’s fine with affection when it’s him doing it to you but how is he supposed to act when you do it back??
- Him jokingly acting all tough with you, especially while doing something particularly affectionate.
“Love you.”
“Love you more.”
“Now listen here you little shit. I love you most, do you understand me?”
- He just tells you when you’re going to go out. No asking what you’re doing, no proposal; no nothing.
“Dinner with me today. Six o’clock.”
“Cafe after school. Meet me in the front.”
- He’s the type of asshat to flirt with and gawk at other girls while he’s with you, then not understand why you’re mad at him. You do the same with different guys just to prove a point and this bitter realization hits him so hard. He doesn’t do it anymore after that.
- Fights are awful arguments that result in the both of you avoiding each other. He purposefully tries to make you jealous by flirting with other girls; hoping it will make you talk to him first, while you don’t really have even try to make him jealous.
- He definitely rants to Clifford while the boy tries not to look entirely dead inside. He literally has his head in his hands the entire time and is sighing every other minute.
- Apologies are made a few days later when he can’t stand not having you constantly at his side. He’s grown accustomed to your company and everything just feels off without you around.
- Is he too much of a dick to be a long term boyfriend? Maybe. You’ll just have to find out won’t you!?
- It’s fun while it lasts, even if it’s only for a year or two though I’ll be the one to tell you that he’s not too keen on letting you go anytime soon.
