sukugo is a crack ship TO YOU. to me it's a perfectly legitimate ship, held back within the canon universe principally due to adherence to classic genre structures and not by lack of character compatibility
#sukugo#not to be a crack ship definition purist. but it doesnt qualify as a crack ship if the characters are totally compatible#and if a major reason that the ship is not canon is just because the characters aren't main characters and thus not the focus of the story#what i mean is that jjk has a pretty normal structure for a coming of age martial arts story#it has the young protagonist who is the focus of the story#who has a wise teacher who is killed by the villain to provide the protagonist with more motivation to defeat the villain#gojo and sukuna were both doomed by the narrative in that the narrative followed this classic structure. so long as yuji is the protagonist#and main character then gojo needs to die to allow him growth and focus#and sukuna needs to be defeated by yuji#sukuna and gojo's relationship could only develop to a limited extent within their fight because its only setting the stage for the final#fight between yuji and sukuna#BUT THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY MANY EXCHANGES BETWEEN GOJO AND SUKUNA THAT DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY ARE COMPATIBLE AS A SHIP IF THEY HAD#TIME AND SPACE TO DEVELOP THE STORY IN THAT DIRECTION#teacher and villain set up to be on opposing sides but finding understanding and an equal and love in each other” is totally legit dynamic#thats the premise of tian ya ke/word of honor#what im saying is that sukugo are very compatible as a ship#but to have a ship like sukugo be believable in canon. their relationship needs to be given time to develop#more time than jjk is able to give it within its structure without more genre subversion and without them being main characters#jjk

Kaeyappreciation post!
Kaeya is wonderful in a sense that he:
Has a penmanship described as "Beautiful Handwriting". He for sure worked on that.
Willingly spends his time making sure his outfit looks perfect
Is well-loved by Mondstadt and the Dawn Winery staff
Is described to like a prince, both in looks and in actions
Is shown to be gentle and caring to children and elderly, most seen with Klee and the staff from Dawn Winery
Is a great listener and, therefore, also knows what gifts to buy based off of something someone said in passing
Is predominantly kind- unafraid to help out and defend someone in need. His first reaction is always kindness, and worry about covering up that kindness later on
But Kaeya also has his moments where he:
Says things out of pocket with enough alcohol in his system. Things that usually lead to shame and regret.
Would rather give others the credit for his hard work if he could help it
Intentionally makes himself look suspicious by withholding information and only throwing tidbits that are not of substance
Has sadist tendencies, which affects how he treats both his (cavalry) company and his enemies
Can and will use underhanded tactics to gain the upper hand
Rarely ever says what he truly wants to say
Has a fake smile. Usually lies or only deals with half truths.
He is such a complex character. I really do want people to appreciate him and his intricacies more. The fact that his entire personality and story is done so well and continues to actually grow and expand as the story progresses is something that genuinely makes me want to keep watch of him. I have never, in all my fandoms, stuck to a character as long as I did with Kaeya, and honestly? I know I'm not alone with this.
Look at how well they made our boy!
#the longest other characters have lasted with me is 6 months at most but kaeya has been eating my brain for YEARS#kaeyachi randoms#kaeya#kaeya alberich#note: everything listed here is from the kaeya hangout/limited events/character stories. for my money, labru is head and shoulders above other ships involving them simply due to the unmatched yap potential, i imagine them feeding off each other's energy like they're slipstreaming in mario kart until they start going fast enough to break the sound barrier
#dungeon meshi#dunmesh spoilers#labru#the Compounding Yap Effect#thinking about kabru wanting to understand the value of monsterhood despite how much pain they caused him ...#laios wanting to understand the value of humanity despite how much pain they caused him ...#none of this even mentioning how much kabru needs a person like laios to spur his character growth#kabru is a schemy schemer who schemes and it's one of his best qualities#but it's also what gets him killed over and over again in an attempt to get closer to laios and co when none of his usual tricks worked#it took until the absolute 11th hour where kabru HAD to choose#between potentially unlocking the secrets of the dungeon or giving it up to the canaries and losing his chance forever#if kabru had fallen back on what he knew he would have killed laios then and never got what he wanted#laios forcing kabru to be honest with his feelings#(a feeling kabru had buried so deep he was barely aware he had it in the first place)#is what finally gets laios to stop and listen#and he finally gives kabru enough of a reason to trust him and make kabru stop the canaries and give the party time to escape#and it's ONLY then that kabru is able to get what he wants#legit i cant imagine a more fulfilling ending for kabru than getting to directly engage his interest in a way that directly helps people#with someone who both needs wants and sincerely appreciates his skills#literally riding off into the sunset gay ass ending im#im going to be sick#day 28 being normal about them

savathun is out there gaslighting gatekeeping AND girlbossing but eramis needs therapy immediately. the difference is in where they were left after their respective tragedies I think. savathun became a goddess, a ruler of her people with unimaginable power- eramis lost everything she could have ever had and was forced into years of conflict and survival
Yeah I was literally just talking about this in the discord I'm in, where I was saying that the major difference between them is that Savathun doesn't need a redemption arc where Eramis does bc Auntie Savy is already doing a good job actively working towards getting her people into a better spot (in her own #gaslight gatekeep girlboss sorta way) while Eramis and her folk need intervention help stat. I wouldn't say that the Hive weren't fucked over by the Witness, bc they were- a lot- but they're at least able to recoup and rebuild on their own, without needing human help to do so. The Eliksni, on the other hand, are basically on the verge of total cultural extinction if not facing actual extinction, and their need to live alongside of us paired with Eramis's desperate need for legitimate help means that Eramis needs a redemption arc while Savathun doesn't. There's no reason for the Hive to need to kiss up our asses and I honestly love that Savathun is still working alongside of us rather than with us to undo the damage that the Witness's lie brought when it reshaped her people- bc she's had years and years of reaping immense power from the situation, while Eramis has been at rock-bottom survival mode for hundreds of years and all the Witness did was give her a shovel and force her to dig.
I def. think that the difference between them is that for the Hive, they at least got their deal with the devil from a different source, while Eramis was conscripted by the Witness directly. The worms at the very least had a vested interest in keeping their larval host species alive and thriving, but the Witness's whole goal was antithetical to growth and life. Uplifting a species so that your larvae can grow strong by working for your boss is a v. different conscription than 'I will trick you into using my strength with hallucinations now so that I can force you into my servitude to run you to the ground later' lmao
#destiny 2#anon#reply#like im legit delighted by savathun being reborn and continuing to girlboss. shes reaching character growth on her own terms and im cheering#eramis is the equivilant of an animal dragging itself into a corner to die tho

This is so not suspicious. This is the literal theme of the season.
Being stressed and angry is fine, the issue is about it overwhelming you and becoming uncontrollable. The whole point of a Barbarian is to use your rage, productively. Lydia has been in a state of mind bending fury for decades but she uses it productively and for the good of others. Last episode was about Gorgug accepting and embracing his rage while not letting it control him.
This unknown god, this Fire Deity, is pissed because HE AND HIS WIFE WERE OBLITERATED BY HIS BROTHER IN LAW. The Nightmare King, through love and devotion was able to return to Cassandra, and it’s going to happen again. This Rage God is a victim being used - as above so below, if the Rat Grinders are the Rage God’s sole followers, he is what they want him to be.
Fig might be the only hope this god has to coming home.
this is. so fucking suspicious
#dimension 20#fantasy high junior year spoilers#fantasy high junior year#fantasy high#fhjy#porter cliffbreaker#fig faeth#brennan lee mulligan#emily axford#i love porter#i trust him#IMPLICITLY#Legit i think hes probably the best teacher at Augefort#You think that if Fabian shit himself in Barbarian class that they wouldn’t have a conversation?#He takes so much pride in his students#And gives them a lot of personal attention#also ‘rage is bad’ is not a healthy message#I mean jesus Adaine’s buggest moment of character growth in season 2 comes from her being so unimaginably pissed that she kills her dad#Rage is healthy and good if used in moderation and safety

what your ateez bias says about you
if you take this seriously, that's on you. i'm just doing this for fun.
tw: heavy topics, language, roasting
*****
hongjoong: right. how's the desire to impress people and overworking yourself doing? i feel like what draws you in is his resilience, and that he is very dependable. you probably had a lot of moments where you were left to your own devices to work on something major, and are no stranger to burnout. you might be the kind of person to talk about your achievements and your work and everything you do a lot, maybe to seek validation (and maybe to cement that you have something others don't). on a softer note, you probably have a wide range of skills in a field you are interested in, and experiment a lot. generally are not afraid to go outside of norms to figure something out. so to see the qualities of a leader and innovator in joong is both comforting and inspiring to you. (bonus: you probably have a thing for clips of joong in the studio, don't you?)
seonghwa: you feel like you don't have anyone who you can actually trust with your thoughts and feelings, huh? people talk at you, not to you. you are a natural care-giver, are quick to give advice (also to bottle up someone else's negativity), often ignoring yourself. you might have lost the feeling of 'home' or of 'small but certain happiness', and might have some unhealthy coping mechanisms. on a brighter note, you are someone who can process emotions a lot more deeply than others and if there is anyone who can actually put themselves in another's shoes, it's you. i think hwa is a safe space to you, precisely because it is not all sunshine and rainbows. you connect with his battles, growth, and how he is accepting change and trying to find balance. (bonus: him getting excited about something is legit your therapy isn't it)
yunho: many acquaintances, few friends? i think you legitimately stopped believing in love. at least the mushy 'at first sight' and 'meet cute' and 'soulmates' kind of love. might be because of family-related things, or because of romantic relationships, but trust is a problem for you. you probably think negatively about yourself quite a bit and/or have/had a more pessimistic mindset. on the positive, i think you're really loyal when you find your people, and want to see them happy. you connect with people beyond love, you make connections that are made on living life together and going through things together. i think this is also what drew you to yunho - his perseverance, resilience, ability to smile in the face of hardship, but also his ability to navigate a lot of emotions as they come and deal with them in a healthy way. (bonus: his small expressions of affection/acts of kindness make you melt, right?)
yeosang: you've been through quite a lot, haven't you? i think you try to laugh a lot of it off or treat it lightly, but the demons eat away at you sometimes. you might be someone who burned out in/after high school, and generally does not have a good experience with school. might feel lonely even when you are not alone, sometimes just choosing to float in your imagination for comfort. often act tough or not quite like yourself to appear more like the you you have in your head. i think in part you kind of want to learn how to love the world like yeosang, and are really touched by his sweetness and his humor. you are a fighter and despite it all, do stay true to yourself and your values, and this is something that you find and adore in yeosang. you are drawn in by his ability to follow his dream, and his heart of gold. maybe your scars will turn golden too. (bonus: you probably have a mild obsession with his one-liners)
san: how are your boundaries, broken like the wall? you probably have some trouble with setting and/or maintaining boundaries, and so sometimes have people treading over you. you might feel like a side character in your own life, and so turn bitter and internalize a lot of negative energy. honestly on a brighter note i think you really do try hard for others, and go out of your way to try and make dreams happen for others, because it makes them and you happy. you cheer, you support and you truly show that you are on a loved one's team. I feel that what draws you to san is how he transformed himself in a healthy manner, and how he maintains a very clear circle of those he trusts, and is no stranger to kindly setting rules in place while still remaining sweet and respectful. he is a safe space for you both because he makes you smile with his stories and jokes, but also because he is adamant on keeping things in order. (bonus: his reaction to the merch donation story lives rent free in your mind)
mingi: got some problems with regulating emotions, maybe? be it hiding them until you burst or not knowing how to express them, i think this might be a challenge for you. you might have been exposed to something that made you believe that it is a sign of weakness or a risk. at the same time, you are logical, damn good at what you do, and when you face hard times you bounce back, even if it takes some time. i think you and mingi share the introspectiveness, and you like how thoughtful he is. you probably find comfort in how he shares happiness with others, and how he seeks closeness with loved ones. at the same time, there is something about how he transforms on stages that resonates with you - the power and confidence is something you want to work on and find more of in yourself. (bonus: your will never stop thinking about mingi's creative process monologues + freestyle mingi)
wooyoung: do people tell you you have a big personality, or that you are 'a lot' sometimes? i feel like you have your way of working, your way of thinking, but might have a hard time actually communicating that or adapting to different social environments. it might be because you're headstrong, or because you are in constant fight or flight mode and so are more rigid. at the same time i think you are diligent and very detailed with what you do, and are in fact attentive to others and might notice things others don't. i feel like what you admire in wooyoung is his ability to connect with others, while not losing himself or his values. you feel for his hardships, and he helps you learn how to be more loving and more open with expressing and accepting love. he is very much your candle. (bonus: you cried because of his interview + dance in that one show, didn't you?)
jongho: how many thoughts are spinning in your head? you might be an overthinker, slightly misanthropic, and on bad days might sink to having a victim mindset and ask the universe 'why me?'. you might have had to grow up too fast, or were controlled a lot as a kid - either way, your understanding and experience of freedom and maturity might be warped. at the same time you are reliable and are able to call things out for what they are. you might have also put a positive spin on the negatives and either used them as inspiration, grew from them, or taken a skill from them that you then generalized. i think jongho's humor and innate warmth is your haven, and his continuous self-development grounds you and motivates you to also try your best and think of ways to find the good in situations. i feel you might also resonate with his occasional shyness. (bonus: you often think about his emotional strength even when he talks about his concerns, don't you?)

For the Queen <3 👑

I honestly have no idea why ppl r so hateful on the internet, esp in fandoms that are meant to unite and bring ppl closer tgt. I guess the ever so repeated 'don't like - don't watch' is too big brain for some.
I honestly adore Earth in a special way, maybe she's not my fav ever but I srsly don't realized how high up there she is
I admit, I did not like her at first, even before I actually saw her in action for the first time when I was catching up and just knew a char like that existed, But she grew on me as she grew herself as well
I love seeing that growth in these characters, the design change, their role in the story, their voice and all
The show touches a lot of subjects and issues esp relationships and how toxic they can be, but 4 me Earth was the one to make me realize this and legit show me how a kind-healthy relationship can look like
She made me realize I am stuck in toxic dynamics I am unhappy with and made me strive to get better
I would pay so much to get a therapy session with her back when she still did those, bc these few eps legit made me feel better then the actual therapy sessions I was taking.
Sure, she's annoying at times, but not anymore than the rest of the cast, every character has a thing I can name that I find annoying, irritating or cringe. That's what makes them real.
And between all this robot, magic, dimensions, star-crap Earth just feels the realest, she's relatable, it's a type of person yk you can meet irl and yk they're a sweetheart
She means a lot to me. And you can not like a character but you get no fucking right to harass the actor. That's about that.
I would talk about more characters that Kat plays, hell knows Gemini makes me feral and that goes for Castor and Pollux equally, but this post is enough of a ramble and I don't really have the time for it now
They're great, Kat's great, people are senseless, love each other, please.
No render and textless under

not to be pretentious or anything but I legit think whoever wrote König's bio was on some xgames shit. Like if we think about it, without his bio he's just some guy with a German-adjacent accent? The veil is kind of interesting, especially knowing it's a t-shirt, but a lot of people would just write him off as a Krueger clone. Richtofen from Black Ops has more personality.
But then someone, in exactly 119 words, conveyed so much and yet so little about who he is as a person? A lot of veterans come home with PTSD and anxiety, but König has always had anxiety, and he still chose to enlist at 17, which presents a lot of intriguing possibilities for what kind of childhood he had and what kind of person it molded him into. The fact that he was bullied as a child serves as a juxtaposition with "too big to be a sniper", which is at least 6'5". That's a big ass man. Did he hit a crazy growth spurt? Did the kids make fun of him specifically for being big? Was he a violent person in his youth, or did that manifest in the military?
Can you imagine hoping to become a sniper, a position that involves a high degree of skill and a fair amount of distance, and instead being assigned to be an insertion specialist, kicking down doors in the thick of it and frightening hostages? Quite a few people have explored this aspect of his character: is he bitter about that? Is he jealous of snipers? We know he holds some amount of resentment because of his "and they said I couldn't be a sniper" voice line, how would that tie into any insecurities carried over from childhood?
All of this also puts his voicelines into new context. Most if not all of the operators shit talk, yell, and cheer, but König seems to take a sort of vicious pleasure in what he does. He's confident in his abilities, bordering on arrogant. Part of this is probably just his accent, but it's another piece in the big guy/anxiety/YOU MISSED ME! puzzle. I love seeing how people reconcile these parts of him into a fleshed-out character. A lot of people deride people who like König despite him not being part of the story and only having a short bio to characterize him, but I think that's a good thing, and presents a lot of room for people to speculate and explore. That's kind of his appeal, at least to me.

Okay literally no one asked but as a former Hobbit movie hater who has since experienced character growth, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the movies on my gay little blog.
Listen. There are legit reasons to be critical of these movies. They were made on a rushed timeline, at time where CGI overuse was the thing and there are definitely unnecessary moments. But despite those issues, these movies still have a lot of heart and character and some really wonderful acting! To compare them to LOTR, is unfair I think because LOTR was such an unimaginable success and I truly believe no other movie franchise can do what those movies did. To expect the Hobbit movies to be the same caliber considering the behind the scenes drama and massive difference in timeline is just not it.
Truly I think that the Hobbit could have been much more than it was and it’s sad to see the amazing moments and realize that we could have had movies that were maybe closer to the level of LOTR, but that doesn’t take away from all of the great things that the movies gave us! Despite what he may be like irl, Martin Freeman was a great young Bilbo, Richard Armitage was insanely good as Thorin (despite the change in age) and the other dwarf actors brought a great sense of loyalty, brotherhood and shared loss to their roles. The music is still dope as hell and there are some beautiful shots despite all the CGI.
This is way too long and I’ve not said anything that hasn’t been said before but honestly, I’m so glad that I stopped hating on these movies and have seen the special things about them. Nothing will ever compare to LOTR, but that doesn’t make these movies bad. They’re fun, they’re emotional, they have great characterization and it’s super valid to enjoy them.
Final gay thoughts because I’m obligated, but I struggle with people who argue against Bagginshield with the whole “why does everyone have to make everything gay?” thing. Because Hollywood is so deeply homophobic that we see so little genuine queer representation, so forgive us for enjoying the chemistry we find and making it our own since our society gives us breadcrumbs. If you’re not into Bagginshield, totally legit and fine, but don’t hate on other people (especially queer people) trying to find some romantic love in media that we enjoy. Also no one can convince me that Richard Armitage wasn’t at least somewhat intentionally putting his queer energy into this role, I will die on this hill.
Anyway, TL;DR there’s no shame in liking or loving the Hobbit movies despite their faults and there are lots of things to appreciate and enjoy and I for one, am glad to leave my LOTR purist hater days behind me
#the hobbit#the hobbit movies#thorin oakenshield#bilbo baggins#bagginshield#lotr#I will die on this hill#as a reformed hater#I know no one cares but what is my gay blog for if not to rant about my own takes#let people enjoy things you haters#like I love LOTR more than anything in the world and I know the Hobbit movies weren’t as good but still#they are so enjoyable and I refuse to be a hater anymore#and that’s on GROWTH#life is so much more fun when you enjoy things#okay sorry another tag but it has to be said#someone shipping characters together doesn’t take away from anyone else’s desire to see those characters in a platonic way#like as long as it’s not a clearly problematic ship just leave people alone#like damn we can enjoy things in different ways and no one has to be right#I also love the argument of NO THESE CHARACTERS ARE STRAIGHT#like oh? was that explicitly said? no? well then let people interpret how they will#let’s stop assuming everything is always straight

Rivalry yuri consumes op's brain

I finally reached the anticipated Willorine reunion and felt like I needed to dedicate an entire ramble for this cuz even tho I'm SURE this isn't their gayest interaction there was so much buildup to this chapter- Caroline's initial intro, asking Toof to help, Willow's reaction to Toof namedropping her, that darn cliffhanger from the previous chap, HELL EVEN THE DESCRIPTION IS RAISING EXPECTATIONS

It definitely delivered. Witness my descent to madness.
This entire chapter is very much filled with "exes who still want each other" energy and dialogues that you don't even need shipping goggles to see the palpable subtext and Flutterpage (bless her) BEING THE BEST WINGWOMAN EVER.

LIKE UGHHH Willow is trying so hard to ignore her then Flutterpage goes "She's still there" 🥹 she's such a sweetie
Then Willow was skeptical that she'd come all the way there just to see her only for Caroline to say "I do miss you actually,"

SHE AINT EVEN DENYING SHE WANTS THAT COOKIE BADLY
Then she goddamn goes

THATS BASICALLY RIVAL SPEAK FOR "I still love you, do you?" 🙄🙄🙄 That's her entire reason for coming there btw, she legit just came there not just because she misses Willow, but because she misses her DESPERATELY.
THEN WILLOW REPLIES WITH

Translation: "You deserve someone better" like SUREEE in the context of the scene she's insulted that Caroline thinks it'd be a fair challenge given her condition (tho it's pretty endearing she thinks Willow can still keep up) but STILL a part of her self-loathing is thinking she doesn't deserve to be in the spotlight with her rival anymore nor can she even do that because she doubts she'll be able to with a handicap.
BUT OHHHH IT IS NOT OVER YET CUZ GAYORINE BARTLEY IS COMING IN WITH THE

Translation: "Bitch even then, I still want you" THEY ARE MAKING ME BASH MY HEAD Willow pushing her away saying she doesn't have anything to her liking only for Caroline to snatch a random cup (I refuse to believe it had actual tea in it, girl is drinking invisible air) and saying she liked what she had just fine (she doesn't care if Willow's changed, she likes her all the same) AAAAUUUUUUUGJHJ.
THESE BITCHES ARE IN A YEARNING COMPETITION TO SEE WHO PINES HARDER AND FLUTTERPAGE (bless her) IS THE WITNESS!!

I like to think that Caroline's reaction to Willow pointing out the flaws in her ribbon technique was a mixture of emotions, joy that she's still sharp enough in the sports to notice, pride in managing to impress her slightly, and annoyance that she has the gall to call her lazy when she's probably trained more actively and properly than her in the last decade.
Anyways Caroline won the yearning contest cuz Willow was the first to push away.

I think it's pretty interesting how Willow was still trying to help her even when she's pointing out her flaws, albeit the advice is heavily laced with condescending arrogance that she probably knew would anger Caroline.
That seemed pretty intentional too, as she decided to taunt Caroline when it was clear she was going to walk away, even being calm and smiling after it pissed her off. If she hadn't, this encounter would've ended pretty friendly and even pleasant, Caroline would've probably come back some other day to try convincing her again.
But whether or not she knew that doesn't really matter, Willow wanted to push her away all the same, and unfortunately she knew all the right buttons to hurt Caroline's pride.

AUGHHHHHH on second thought a part of her self-loathing was probably thinking Caroline's fixation on her and her techniques would only hinder her growth and prevent her from becoming the star she wants to be 🥹
OR WHO KNOWS MAYBE IM JUST DELUSIONAL 😭😭😭
Wugh whatever. Willow is a character so full of angst and self-loathing and I'm so glad to see the story exploring how it's affecting her and the people close to her pretty thoroughly.
Anyways, patch is peak and I haven't even reached the major conflict, genuinely looking forward to how things go because I KNOW shit gets gayer between these two.
Thanks for reading!
#reverse 1999#r1999#Willorine#willow#caroline bartley#willow reverse 1999#flutterpage#can't wait to read Willorine fics after this#and am desperately hoping one of them is about healing and making things healthier cuz GOD does willow need it#a bit delusional#rambles/analysis idk anymore

On a similar note, I dig how each time we see Luz struggle with a secret problem she doesn’t want to burden Amity with, it’s about a different person having to step up and grow for it.
Follies at the Coven Day Parade is where it begins and while it’s very much about Luz desperately trying to cope and process what happened, the situation is also about Amity’s growth; It’s about her trying not to follow in the footsteps of her abuser as a victim herself, continuing the thread of Eclipse Lake about how victims tend to not just be magically okay when away from the original abuser.

Amity isn’t just at risk of repeating another abuser for herself, but even being that abuser, as we could glimpse in her first scene and what retroactively comes across as a VERY misguided, passive-aggressive attempt at encouragement for Willow, because Odalia would really say the same. Wasn’t right either btw, nor was Amity’s handling of having her badge taken, and that’s why she’s the antagonist.
But yeah; Odalia would’ve gone through Amity’s phone (or scroll in her case) if she felt concern for her daughter, no matter how legit that concern was. She has no issues breaching privacy with that necklace… So it’s a big moment of growth for Amity, but also for her to begin reconnecting with Willow.
You can see Amity also begin to reconnect with Alador in Reaching Out, but that episode is a lot more about Luz’s end of the problem, reversing what came before; This time, Amity feels outright angry because she knows she didn’t do wrong nor considered it! And you can feel the frustration at having this happen again! If FatCDP is about Amity breaking the cycle of abuse, RO is about Luz processing her grief over her father and how this parental guilt inevitably extends to him as well; Is Luz doing Manny dirty by leaving him behind? By pursuing what he told her to, only to bastardize his message by hurting their beloved Camila?

Not to mention, Luz isn’t just making her loved ones worry, hurting herself is legitimately a form of hurting the people around her, it’s paradoxical to the intentions of the act. It’s something for which an angry reaction COULD easily be warranted, and it invites Luz to consider what might happen if she keeps this up. Of course, later down the line… Maybe that’s what she wants, if she plans to isolate herself and doesn’t want her friends to be sad about that anyway, and/or is convinced they’ll hate her anyway for the Collector situation.

(The fact that the B-plot involves Eda trying to look into Raine, who is also keeping secrets to protect Eda but ultimately hurting more for it, as a callback to how Eda did the same. Lumity and Raeda, the breaking of the curse once again!)

And then Thanks to Them and For the Future, which is kind of a back-to-back joint package for Camila; It’s Camila’s turn in the spotlight, it’s about Camila coming to terms with her own baggage and in a way, her own secret she hid from Luz. Not necessarily to protect Luz, but because it wasn’t important enough to mention at the time, and/or deep down Camila felt too much shame about it; It’s that kind of hypocrisy that’s prevalent in a lot of TOH characters, especially when it comes to characters who tell each other it’s okay to do/be X, only to hate it in themselves. It’s also about Camila protecting Luz’s privacy, which I’ve gone into before; Hence why she goes along with the secret, until Luz has opted to dissolve it as a secret by just not having it as a decision at all.
It’s the same situation regarding Luz not telling Amity about her problem, but each time it’s really about a different person considering their own potential/history of harm, and owning up to it to grow and make amends. And I think that’s pretty powerful.
