T 🧛‍♂️ 🥵🎀 (also congrats! and I am very excited about this whole thing! 😘😘😘)
Thank you so much, love! 💖 This one is not as explicitly smutty as the other request I did for you, but I'm pretty positive this won't be the last time I visit this world. (And they will absolutely fuck nasty in later instalments.)

It seems, Kas thinks, like he needs to thoroughly reassess his notions of werewolves.
He's just lucky none of his vampire siblings can see him now, shackled to the floor in the basement of the surprisingly fancy manor that is the den of Steve’s pack. Outwitted and taken captive by a bunch of mutts - he'd be an utter laughing stock.
Then again, if his siblings think that all werewolves are ugly, hairy thugs with nothing but floof for brains, it only goes to show they’ve never met any real-life packs before. Or their very pretty, very witty, very naked leaders.
Speaking of which …
“I see you. I know you're watching me.”
A heartbeat passes in silence.
“Don't give yourself too much credit,” Steve smiles as he steps from the darkness. “Merely checking if you're settling in alright.”
“How very hospitable of you,” Kas snarls. “You treat all your guests like this?”
“Only the ones that might tear out my throat while I'm asleep,” Steve shrugs, settling cross-legged on the ground, just out of reach. He's acquired a set of clothes since Kas last saw him. A pair of skinny breeches and a cream shirt with billowing sleeves, gathered at the wrists with little satin ribbons. He looks like a haughty young lord gracing a subject with his presence.
“You could always just let me go,” Kas hedges. Steve snorts a boyish laugh.
“Nice try,” he says. “Afraid I can't do that.”
Kas groans. “Is this still about your stupid prey? I told you I have nothing to do with that. Animal blood makes me wanna hurl.”
Steve’s face remains unimpressed. “Even if that's true, one of your friends might be involved. Keeping you around might come in handy.”
“So you're just gonna leave me down here to rot?”
“I didn't say that.”
Kas is about to ask what the hell he is on about, but then Steve holds out his hand. Something unfurls from his fingers - a broad band of tan leather. Inlaid with silver like the manacles on his wrists, no doubt; designed to drain his powers without causing physical harm or pain. Dangling from the end are a metal clasp and lock.
Kas sneers.
“I think you're a bit confused, wolf boy. If one of us should be in a collar, it sure as hell isn't me.”
Steve shrugs, rising to his feet. “Suit yourself. I'll just-”
Something rumbles, loud and humiliating. Steve turns back around, eyebrows raised.
“Hungry?”
Kas scowls. “Told you I haven't been anywhere near your food, didn't- what the fuck are you doing?”
“You're of no use to me if you starve, are you?” Steve is undoing the ribbon on his left wrist with deft fingers, pushing the sleeve up to his elbow. “Drink.”
Kas bares his fangs, drawing a breath to tell him to go fuck himself.
And that is when the scent hits him. Coppery and hot and tempting like all living things.
But also more.
Also warm summer soil and newly mown hay and embers in a slow fire.
Life.
He's on his knees before he realizes it, nosing at the delicate skin of that wrist. Steve hisses lightly as he pierces his flesh, but he doesn’t pull back.
The taste of him hits Kas like something solid, seeping heavily into his limbs and sending his mind abuzz with fuzzy sensations and images. The sky at dusk and sun on skin. Music and laughter and touch, and a forgotten name floating just out of reach. The warm, tingling heat pools at the base of his spine, setting his nerves alight with fire. He moans, lapping at the thin rivulet of blood like a parched man. Each droplet is like a hit of morphine, is sweet perdition, is another kind of shackle snapping shut. He knows, instinctively, even in this moment, that he's lost. He's powerless to stop it.
“Enough.”
Steve uses his free hand to yank him back by the hair. Kas snarls in protest, straining to catch the last precious drops falling from those long fingers with his tongue before they go to waste. Steve watches him while he licks them up.
“Greedy, aren't you?”
“Fuck you,” Kas snaps.
Steve’s lips curl into a smile. “Oh, I'm sure you'd love to. That happen every time you feed or is that just for me?”
Those hazel eyes are swirling with gold as they flick down, and Kas realizes with a detached sense of surprise that he is painfully hard.
“Don't give yourself too much credit,” he drawls. “And besides, I could ask the same thing of you.”
He turns his head, which is conveniently level with the very obvious bulk in Steve’s pants. The boy doesn't recoil when he scrapes his fangs along the outline of it, merely takes a well measured step back. He's a tough little bastard, Kas has got to give it to him.
“I'll just leave this here,” Steve says sweetly. “In case you change your mind.”
The collar clatters to the ground. Kas doesn't turn to look at it. His gaze is transfixed to Steve's hands fixing his shirt sleeve back into place. The ribbon soaks up the last beads of blood, crimson stains blooming on cream satin like flower petals.
“Full moon's tomorrow, so you'll need to make that meal last for a day or two,” Steve says conversationally. “I suggest you put that time to good use and think about my offer.”
Kas wordlessly watches how he turns his back and disappears into the darkness. The metal buckle of the collar glints in the low light of the basement.
The summery scent of life lingers long after Steve is gone.

Somewhere Only We Know
A/N - Hello, you lovely lot! Hope you are all keeping well in these utterly shit Covid times. Who would’ve thought that we would still be here in December?! Please see my offering for @goldenbluesuit‘s Christmas Fic Challenge. Hope I’ve done a bit of justice with this piece.
I can remember Katie texting me telling me about the challenge, and I’ll admit I was given first dibs and now I’m absolutely shitting myself because I’ve seen all the brillaint entries so far and I’m not sure I really cut the mustard with this piece but I’m proud of myself for being able to put a solid 70% of this together in just one day (that one day being today).
Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Katie has done a brilliant job and I know how grateful she is towards anyone who has joined the challenge or supported by reading/sharing etc.... I need to stop rambling... Okay, thank you for sticking with me as always and happy reading! .x

The last thing you remembered actually reading in the group chat was “make sure you have your wellies”. You were glad that you remembered that part at the very least.
Winds whipped around you as you buried your face further into your cream roll neck cable knit jumper, all but hidden underneath your tobacco borg teddy coat that someone had already likened to Macklemore.
Nothing like being back home with your closest and oldest friends.
Mud squelched under your feet as you walked in line with two of your oldest girl friends, eyes looking over the four males in front of you as they led the way over the grassy hills.
There had been zero planning on what today’s events would bring. It was quite clear that the seven of you just wanted to be reunited with the country air and wind bitten cheeks.
It was nice. How simple it was. On the surface at the very least. That was until you zoned in on the little things.
Like his laugh. The same laugh that always carried somehow and it seemed like the wind was making it that much more prominent than usual today.
There was no denying, he had this glow about him. Even from the back of him. You felt silly for thinking it, but it was true. It was in the way he held himself as he attacked the grassy hills with his feet clad wellies and brown trousers.
Life had changed a lot in over a decade. Christ, had it been that long? You’d all gone from baby teenagers to fully fledged adults. The age range of your friendship differing slightly, the odd person here and there slightly older than a couple of people in the group.
Nonetheless, many of the experiences had been the same. The big job offers, and the even bigger promotions. The heartbreaks, regardless of their prominence or lack of, had been the felt the same. The flirtation between some of you sparked probably a bit more so now with a finesse that didn’t have you rolling your eyes but rather leaning into it.
Four out of seven of you were single. Jack and Jonny were virtually married off, however neither of them were with their partners this year with both deciding to spend Christmas at home and New Years with their significant others. Alice was still loved up and going strong with her fella, as was Grace who you hadn’t heard a peep from as she constantly checked her phone to see when the person she was besotted with finally arrived up North thanks to West Midlands Trains pulling into Crewe.
So that left Will, you and Harry. Harry who had  quite publicly made it known that he was single. Well, according to your Mum he had, in several interviews. Including the one that she had described as an ‘incredibly relaxing watch and nice background noise to my Sunday evening brew and ironing session’.
That was a strange one for you, his honesty. In earlier years of friendship, he always seemed quite aloof. Like he was keeping his options open. Guarded in a way that frustrated at least 75% of the friendship group, in the nicest way possible. You knew that was a contradiction but any annoyance came from a good place.
You remembered one night in 2014 when he wouldn’t quite give you a straight answer over tequila shots whether he was shagging someone or not. You also remember the way he’d been pulled away from you tactfully by Alice that night when she sensed how you were about to blow up at his lackadaisical attitude.
The same had been felt in 2016. Not so much in 2018, but you weren’t single then so maybe you just didn’t care.
2019 was significantly different though.
See the thing was, you knew him now. Like, knew knew him.
Some would think it was a lapse of judgment, a reading that you would agree upon given what had happened two days prior if ever prodded about it publicly.
Others would vehemently disagree. Stating how long any sort of energy between the two of you had been bubbling for a number of years.
Looking back you couldn’t even understand why you’d attended his show. You lived in Camden and it made sense, but that’s where the sense stopped. Even the ways he had reached out had been one of the most random messages you’d received from him
There was no context, just a simple ‘I’m playing the Electric Ballroom and there’s tickets waiting for you if you want ‘em.’
And the thing was, you loved that venue. The grungy-ness of it all. The way you had stuck to the floor while trying to dance along to the likes of The Hives and Kings of Leon when seeing them playing there, basking in your sweaty happiness.
But the stickiness of the floor and sweatiness of the room didn’t compare to the stickiness and sweatiness you later found yourself partaking in as Harry took you from behind over the side of his couch.
A shiver rolled through you at the thought, one that you would blame on the December bitter chill because it was a secret. One that neither of you had mentioned since it happened on Thursday night, or to be technically correct the early hours of Friday morning.
He’d been good. Of course he had been.
He had that way about him that night that pulled you under a false sense of endeared security. From his dimpled smile to gleaming eyes. He was happy.
And the way he had shone as he found you on the balcony had warmed you like nothing you had known in the longest time.
It caused you to forget about the worry that had laden you limbs as you turned up at 9.13pm to the wooden doors of the building, wondering how many songs he was in to the set as you convinced yourself he would start at 9.00pm.
As you’d been ushered over to a clear box window and uttered your name to a dorky looking man wearing a tracksuit pull over and watched him handover a white envelope through the circle hatch.
You stood in the dark, next to two much younger girls who enjoyed the way his glances lingered over at their side. Eyes had found Gemma in the opposite corner of the balcony, her dancing and singing with some recognisable faces mainly more so because you had seen them on social media.
You, however, kept yourself to yourself. Until you were anchored in the tightest hug from Gemma that you had ever felt from her and swayed from side to side as she made it known how pleased she was to see you once the concert was over.
That familiarity had been nice. The vibrancy of nostalgia consuming you in your entirety.
Watching him work a room when he finally entered the after party was a sight to behold, in his navy blue pinstripe suit and yellow ‘I’m gonna die lonely’ t-shirt.
He wasn’t. Gonna die lonely, that is.
He glided so smoothly from one person to the next, spilling a drink down himself in the process you’d seen (and later felt when your hand clung to the fabric of his t-shirt as you kissed), making time for everyone in his own unique way.
Big eyes followed you over Gemma’s shoulder when he had finally found himself within your circle and hugged his sister once more that evening. They were hard to read but also openly filled with a glimmer of hope as he dropped his gaze to see what you were wearing.
And when he approached you, he hugged you in a way that managed to pull you into the darkened corner of the dingy space. Spinning your body to keep your face concealed from any prying eyes.
He revealed to you how he didn’t think you were going to turn up, scanning you with his gaze as he spoke. You did the same, a bit taken aback by just how attractive you were finding him. He had always been handsome but the aura he gave off, made your fingers itch to have him closer to you.
Words ran away from you that night as he begged and pleaded with you to tell him what your favourite song had been. Based on first impressions, which the show has been, then Canyon Moon and Watermelon Sugar had smothered you and given you no other option but to pick them.
If he were to ask you now you’d probably say To Be So Lonely, thanks to the drive home being longer than originally thought and said album being your choice of road trip music.
Forget Driving Home For Christmas, nothing slapped more than one of your closest friends admitting to being an arrogant son of a bitch.
After your chat, he mingled some more but Harry was always tactile and that night had been no different. He veered conversations with people you had never seen before to take place by the zone that you all occupied.
He actively kept his back against yours, allowing the faintest of touches and brushing of arms - sometimes hands too if he dropped them down heavily enough with his arms as he spoke - to entice and create a spark.
You were kept late enough to miss the last tube. Battery dangerously low on your phone that you didn’t know if a transaction with Uber would be worth a try.
Jumping into the same car as him had been easy. His soft and tired eyes findings yours in the cab as he leant his head back against the headrest in the back seat and let his lips tip upwards in an expression of tenderness that had you melting in your seat.
“‘S been a while since we’ve both been a bit pissed in the back of a taxi,” he mused, pushing his fallen locks out of his eyes to ensure his view of you wasn’t obscured. “Come an’ cuddle me like you used to do when we went out a’ home and were worse for wear.”
Falling into his side was almost second nature, eyes closing as you let your forehead rest against his jawline and let his worn in cologne fill you senses and scatter your judgment.
You don’t even remember how you ended up kissing that night. A mixture of confessions about missing each other and praise of how good you both were in your own ways. The sound of his whispered, “are you coming home wi’me?” against your lips an offer too good for you to refuse as you sat pressed into his side and half in his lap.
The giggles that night, around dramatic shushes as you tripped and shuffled from the car to his front door were almost haunting in your memory as he tried to chastise you around spluttered laughter about being respectful of his neighbours.
Getting the key in the lock proved unchallenging -  one of the better analogies aligned to your memories and latter sexual endeavours - as you slipped into the house. He enjoyed watching the way you walked ahead of him into his home, not realising how much he needed that visual of seeing how well you fit in.
While time seemed to slow in that moment, movements desperately sought the opposite. Hands gripped and clawed like their lives depended upon it.
Looking back now, both he and you wished it hadn’t happened the way it did. Skirt lifted and over the side of his couch. Teeth clashing and hips knocking.
It had been every inch a drunken fumble. A first meeting slightly cheapened but wanted nonetheless. Only made even cheaper by the hush-hush concealing of it ever occurring.
But a secret it was and a secret it would remain.
And oh how you wished you had a pillow you could press you face into right now and scream, this time for an entirely different reason. Unlike that night.
“Not seen a sign of any deer yet, mate,” you heard a voice break you out of your indulgence of recollecting past events. Harry was the worst at wanting to get a reaction.
“Christ, have a bit of patience would yer?”
You smiled at the bickering, just like it always was as the River Dane could be heard in the distance somewhere as you walked. If you listened really close, that is.
Lifting your eyes, your smile lingered as you watched Harry spin his body around and let his hands get lost in the massive pockets of his parka. He walked backwards holding your gaze softly with his eyes twinkling before he gently rolled them at the overreaction and impatience of your friends.
He seemed pleased that you’d enjoyed his teasing as you once again hid you smile into your jumper.
You’d be alright.
***
You heard giggles and screams ahead of you as your friends stumbled in the dark and messed about as you got closer to the viaduct. This place or the people didn’t change, and at times while it filled you with a warm nostalgia, it could be heavily jarring.
A soft and lazy smile pulled at your lips as you felt his heavy forearm lightly tug you closer to him, his lips finding your hair. And then there was Harry.
“Think we should go this way m’self,” Harry mumbled, the nudge of his hips against yours had you stumbling slightly in your heels away from the direction of your friends and somewhere completely different.
“And why’s that?” You turned your face slightly, cheeks warm and flushed thanks to the mixture of alcoholic beverages; eyes glazed as they lifted up to look at him.
“Cause you never would’ve let me when I was sixteen,” he admitted.
“You didn’t ask.”
“‘M askin’ now.”
With slow blinking eyes, you looked at his own unfocused vision. A soft shine to his skin, hair blowing gently against his forehead. The softest of smiles tilted at your lips.
“On yer go,” he nudged you forward, this time more so with his crotch and his hands, which wrapped around your hips to help steer you. Harry was met with only a small amount of resistance from you as you split off from your friends and turned in the different direction.
You bit back your laugh, dropping your head slightly as you felt your heels started to sink into the grass as you walked. Harry was level with you when you sunk down noticing the way you legs slightly gave way, a soft chuckle omitting from his throat as he asked, “You alrigh’?”
“I’m sinking in these bloody things,” you grumbled, pulling your heel from the grass and trying to place the sole of your shoe onto the ground beneath you first.
“So much for no’ being able to take the country out o’ the girl. London’s changed yer, swear it.”
Shaking your head, you cut your eyes to give him a harsh stare for his wind up. His amused expression lit a fire in you like no other. He really wasn’t one to talk though, was he?
“Gi’me your hand ‘ere,” he held his out to you, quickly cupping it when you handed it over and pulled it under his bent elbow. “Remind me again who’s idea this was, eh?”
He didn’t need reminding, he had been one of the keen instigators for the whole jaunt down Twemlow Viaduct. It usually was him, or Jack. The two of them often reminiscing on times they had both raided their parents' alcohol cupboards and managed to sneak out with some dusty bottle that held a liquor that tasted out of date and stale, and if not that then, cheap.
“‘S still fucking freezing down ‘ere, in’it?” He asked, lifting his left hand up to his mouth and blowing against it to try and get some feeling back into his fingers.
“We’re so close to the river, I don’t know why you’d expect anything different?”
“Is this why everyone was always so insistent on necking anything with over 11% alcohol in it when we came down ‘ere as kids?”
“Probably,” you softly laughed.
“‘S a bit different now though innit?”
“Oh, I’m not so sure,” you started to correct him, shrugging your hand out from under his elbow and reaching for your bag. Quickly fumbling with the clasp, you lifted up the quilted flap and managed to pull out the stainless steel hip flask.
Harry cackled a harsh laugh, his eyes crinkling as he slowly let his laughter die down and softly let his joy wash over his features. “Impressive. Gone all proper on me.”
“You know I haven’t,” you held his eyes watching as he nervously cupped at the back of his neck for a short while, a gentle bite down of his bottom lip, as you quickly uncapped the item and held it out to him. He looked like he needed the courage.  You continued, “We’re just a bit more refined, that and we earn a good living. Some more than others, and by some I mean you.”
He held his hand up towards you with an amused grin at your comment. “You first, ‘s yours after all.”
Lifting the item and knocking back your head, you swallowed the whiskey with a small grimace, before offering it to Harry once more. This time he accepted, his right hand making light work of taking the item from your hands and sipping at the contents.
His face wasn’t as contorted as your’s when he swallowed, a fan of the chosen beverage if needs must. “‘S the proper stuff, tha’ is,” he commented with a quick lick of his lips before continuing, “Come a long way from sneaking the bottles of dusty Blossom Hill from the back of the cupboard.”
“Don’t know about that,” you smiled, taking the item and pushing it back into your bag. “I’d still drink if, if it were on offer.”
“‘M sure Mum’s got a bottle or two going at home?”
“Is that your way of asking me to go home with you?” You paused. “Again.”
Harry remained silent at your words. Both you and he knew it was going to happen. A mixture of sparks and lovelorn, lingering glances was enough to make anyone both want to give up, while also giving a burning confidence usually unknown.
Neither of you expected it would be you who started the conversation, however.
“It is, ‘f it’s gonna work. ‘M not sure I could wait any longer t’be’onest wi’yer.“
Laughing, you reached up to push at his shoulder. He always knew exactly what to say, but no way was he going to make a laughing stock of the whole thing. “Oh, give over,” you spoke, harshly swallowing when he kept your hand against the thick cable knit black jumper he had on. “You’ve made it this far, thus far just fine.”
“‘M not playin’,” he whispered, hand gently curling around your own and lifting it up to press against his face. His cheeks were warm underneath the cooler hands, despite the cold night whipping around you both and your mind quickly wondered if he was just as embarrassed for his lack of acknowledgment as you had been. “Homes nice, you’re nicer.”
“I thought we weren’t going to talk about it,” you let your soft voice get taken by the wind.
“An’ what gave you tha’ impression?”
He did. He gave you that impression. By not mentioning it. By treating you how he always did.
“You.”
“Me?” Harry responded, indignantly, blowing out a sigh that had his cheeks puffing out underneath your hand. “‘M not doing a very good job then am I? I can’t keep m’eyes off o’you. ‘S not my fault you don’t bloody notice ‘em.”
But you had noticed them.
His eyes, gaze following your every move, near enough. Stupid little touches. Glances of approval. Not just now, but from years before.
Treating you how he always did.
Oh, treating you how he always did.
Bringing your eyes back to his figure, you saw the way his gaze darted and nervousness dragged at his features. A frown began to set itself between his eyebrows from worry.
“Changes everything.”
Running his tongue along his teeth, Harry pursed his lips. “Everythin’ has changed, changed a long time ago an’all.”
You dropped your hand down, it now massaging against the back of his neck and shoulder as you felt the tension of his body radiating through his clothes. Under the dim moonlight and the odd spotlight that had been added to the viaduct with each passing year for safety, Harry exhumed everything anyone would want in a boyfriend. He was soft, and so bloody gorgeous. Not just because he was personification of an almost six foot tall string of handsomeness, but his character did the talking for him.
He knocked the door before he walked into a room, for example. Who really did that kind of thing anymore?
But you could also still see the heartbreak that lingered, albeit not as strong as it once was, it was still there. And that was problematic and scary. To be on the receiving end of it. Not that you would hold it against him, because you had been him at one point too. At many points in fact.
When the two of you had shagged, because let’s face it that is exactly what it had been, while a sense of familiarity in the person was prevalent it was definitely overruled by the desire to just hit a euphoric high that if hit right could not be topped.
Familiar overruled in other aspects, and it wasn’t to be brushed away. But was familiarity a mask that would slip sooner rather than later? Was it the start and the end?
The both of you experienced similarities in your life that could not be matched by the friends in your friendship group. London had chewed you up and spat you out, ruthlessly so. While rewarding you with long hours but fat pay cheques, careers that catapulted you to new heights and enabled you to see parts of the world that two country kids (which in one way you were) could never have imagined.
Sure Harry’s had been on a much, much larger scale - you would not ever deny that - but you no longer fit in.
And neither did he.
This was a place that only the two of you knew. A place where you watched those around you fall in love and have the time to do so. A place where your friend's happiness was created a lot easier than it wasn’t and allowed a sense of success to weave its way in, through the most unexpected of happenings.
Not a place where you found happiness in your work because there was less of a space for happiness to blossom elsewhere. Not really. Not like you; both of you.
Understanding was vital.
This had been a place you knew like the back of your hand. A place that had you feeling the earth beneath your feet, fresh air in your lungs and had at times made it so you found yourself sitting by a river and finding yourself feeling complete.
Yet looking over at the almost 26 year old, that just wasn’t the case anymore.
And for once you didn’t feel alone.
The sound of the odd piece of cobbled pavement underneath Harry shoes, buried beneath overgrown grass and plants, broke you from your thoughts, as you watched him kick at the ground and scuff his shoes.
He sighed, head tilted back before he knocked it to the side and caught your eyes. A small scoffed laugh left his lips as he shook his head and dropped his gaze to his feet.
“‘S it fucked?”
You hummed, a small frown lacing your features.
“Fucked it, haven’t I? Fuckin’- idiot-“ he breathed out a noise as he clenched his teeth, one that wasn’t quite a growl but enough to let you know he was agitated. Only strengthened by how tight his jaw became.
Before you could even think, the back of your hand gently brushed against the pulsing hinge of his jaw. Muscles taut as you tried to soothe him in a way that your mind was screaming was far too intimate.
You didn’t want him having any internal battle about right and wrong. Not when you had both taken the same steps to get here.
“Thought it was just meant as a one time thing,” you admitted. “Like you needed it, and I needed it. Was what it needed to be at the time. Bit rough, bit sloppy-“
You cringed are the use of the word. Wanting the ground to swallow you in a weird fashion. You should be able to talk open and honestly with someone who you had known longer than hadn’t.
“Rough?“ Harry swallowed audibly, his face fallen. “That’s not-“
His eyes held an emotion similar to sorrow at the mention of the word. “That’s not the impression I wanted to give you.”
“We were both drunk, it happens.”
“Not with me it doesn’t. Not when it’s me, wanting to be wi’you.”
“I mean I was into it if that helps anything?”
“Were yer?”
You looked at him from the corner of your vision, watching his lips try to fight a smile as you rolled yours into your mouth to not give yourself away. You knew what you were trying to do by speaking those words aloud but you wished you hadn’t. Awkward breathy laughs were shared by the two of you as you held his eyes.
“Was I?”
You hummed in agreement to answer his question, letting your smile dance along your lips now and watching as Harry’s dimples started to show. His expression was youthful, slightly smug.
“Good t’know.”
***
Finishing saying your goodbyes to your friends and ignoring their suggestive expression because ‘Harry was stopping as an extra pair of hands’, you shut the heavy wooden door and reached up to close the deadbolt lock at the top. Shortly after, you let your feet drop as you stopped standing on your tiptoes and pressed your forehead against the door.
The silence of the pub was always a strange one to you. A place that was usually thriving, whether it was just your friends, or your parents friends. When the lights were turned out, it was actually quite a lonely place. Regardless of growing up around this sort of industry your entire life and having parents as publicans nothing was more depressing than an empty bar, lifeless and nothing like it was intended.
A suggested lock-in from Jack, who managed to interrupt both yours and Harry’s conversation earlier had not been a bad shout after all. You knew it meant that you would have to deal with the fallout with it being Christmas Eve, but it wasn’t very often that you found yourself in the setting.
Turning to move from the door, you almost jumped out of your skin when you heard the opening of a familiar Lily Allen song start to play over the speakers.
Harry emerged from the corner of the pub that housed the jukebox, slowly rubbing his hands together before he wordlessly picked up the scattered pint glasses that had remained on one of the tables that had been missed by the staff on the evening shift. His eyes glanced over at you, as you stood with a hand to your chest.
This wicked smile and gleam washed over his face as he paused his movement. “Did I scare yer?”
“Do you not think it’s a bit loud?”
He wrinkled his nose at you, a soft shake of his head no, to answer your question.
“‘S your fave innit?” He asked, head nudging to where the jukebox was now hidden.
With a small smile you nodded, “Prefer the Keane version in all honesty.”
“Don’t have it in the bloody jukebox though, d’yer? Can’t like it that much.”
Your smile deepened at his exclaim and how prominent his accent sounded as he spoke, the small clink of the glasses he was holding only heard if you really zoned in.
“Where d’yer want these?” He asked, holding up the five pint glasses he had collected. “Behind t’bar?”
Humming, you nodded and watched as he weaved his way through the tables to you. You frowned as he got closer, not understanding why he hadn’t bypassed you completely.
Once he was close enough to you, you watched as he reached for what you knew to be your own glass of wine that was almost finished.
“Fancy the rest of this or can it go too?”
Looking at him and down to the glass, you gently wrapped your hand around it and brought the lip to your mouth. You knocked the item back quickly, swallowing the rest of your wine, before handing over the now empty glass back to Harry.
“Good girl,” he joked, light laughter lacing each word. “Sit yourself down.”
Wearing an amused and quizzical expression, you let yourself sink down into the wooden chair. Resting your chin on your hand, you spun slightly in your seat to keep your eyes on Harry as he placed the glasses down and lifted the hatch so he could step behind the bar.
With your free hand, you started to tap the worn beer coaster labelled with the Cheshire Brewhouse logo against the table. Part of you hated how Harry had a knack for anything, including knowing his way around a bar.
He busied himself with collating the glasses once more as you let your eyes take in the surroundings you had known, loved and even grown out of.
Your parent’s pub was cosy and friendly. A truly
classic and quintessential British village pub, featuring open fires, bookcases found in the very far corner or the jukebox in the other, lots of old oak and a really pleasant garden with benches for the summat and heaters for the winter. You know the kind that had its regulars that had kids who had seen each other grow up.
The bar was the centre of the pubs house, with an extensive array of whiskies amongst many other delights. A nice range of local ales and a well-balanced, great quality list of wines on offer designed (which you would be taste testing if the service hadn’t decided to take a break) to complement the food menus designed daily by a team of chefs who all have a passion for great cooking using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients.
It looked as Christmassy as Christmas could get, with a real tree which was locally sourced from one of the many surrounding farms and traditionally decorated with golds and reds. Twinkly lights shone, not only on the trees but as part of the garland that was hung above the bar each year, much to the annoyance of your Dad and the delight of your Mum.
Slowly dragging your eyes back to the bar, you watched Harry as he poured you another glass of white wine and started to recap the bottle. He must’ve felt your eyes on him, his gaze meeting yours almost immediately.
“Service is a bit slow,” you jibed, once you knew he was with you. “Going to ruin the reputation of a fine establishment.”
His chuckle was breathy in response, but warmed you through as he turned his back and pushed his tumbler glass up against the device at the bottom of the Glenfiddich distilled malt whiskey, not once but twice going for a double.
“Helping yourself to the stock now, as well.”
“‘M sure your Dad won’t mind,” he responded, twisting his body back around to reach for your own glass and place it onto a tray that sat along the bar top. “In fact he’d probably make a comment about how it’d put hairs on m’chest.”
You laughed, unrestrained, knowing just how right he had been with that comment.
Over the otherside of the room, Harry smiled and shushed you as he walked closer, easily holding the tray with your drinks upon it. “Being a bit loud,” he taunted as he slid the tray down to the oak table.
“Oh, now you’re concerned about the noise.”
With his hand against the back of the chair which was currently housing your outstretched legs, you felt him start to wobble the seat to give you a warning.
“Hang on,” you said, “Plenty of other chairs.”
“This one’s mine,” he responded.
Wanting to roll your eyes but deciding not to, you let your legs drop down and gave the seat back to Harry. Once he was comfortable and he’d taken your drink off the tray, he gestured with his right hand.
Not entirely focused, he had to do the ‘come hither’ motion a couple of times before you finally cottoned on. He was willing to let you put your legs on his lap instead, while he may have taken the seat it didn’t mean he wanted to take away your comfort.
No sooner had your legs been raised to rest against his tan washed velvet corduroy trousers, was he fiddling with the buckle of your stiletto sandals.
“Got mud everywhere,” you commented, wiggling your toes that were painted a festive red and inspecting the little dots of dirt that were splattered against your skin, as Harry dropped the first shoe to the floor and quickly worked on the second. “Dread to think what they smell like.”
“Smell alrigh’ from ‘ere,” he mused, smirk faint but glaring obvious in his tone of voice as he threw a quick and mischievous glance at you. As you elongated your foot against his thighs, the tips of your toes were just about able to press into his thick jumper to try and jab at him for his comment.
Before you were able to put any sort of force behind your action, Harry’s hand clamped down around the top of your foot causing your eyes to snap up away from his hand and up to his eyes.
There he sat watching you, top two teeth pressed into his bottom lip keep his smile at bay. Releasing his lips slowly, his whispered threat left his throat, “I will tickle.”
You tried to fidget away but to no avail. With a whined laugh, you frowned as Harry goaded you by slowly raising his eyebrows. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me.”
You had tried him.
Truth be told you wanted to again.
If he wanted to.
Reaching for your wine, you took a hefty sip and let the silence swallow you both. Harry, who kept his hand on your foot and his fingers dancing gently against the top, let his head fall back awkwardly against the hardwood. His head dropped to the side taking in his surroundings and their familiarity.
“Do you ever get tired of coming back?”
You hummed, sure you had misheard due to the way the blood was rushing around your ears. He turned to look at you, all double chin and puffy cheeks.
“Of everything being the same, but different?”
His whispers captivated you, hushed confessions not quite meant for anyone else but his own mind yet spilling from him with such an ease that he did nothing to fight them.
“I’ll admit, I come home for other people. Not for me.”
“People?”
“Mum, Dad,” you paused. “You.”
His smile deepened. His chin knocking down to his chest, his eyes looking up at you from underneath his curling hair from being caught in the moist winter evening just hours before.
“You can stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you did three nights ago.”
Harry breathed in deeply, his nostrils flaring and his chest expanding. A lick of his lips, before his mouth dropped to sit slightly agape.
“What if I don’t wan’to? What if I want t’look at yer like this all the time?”
You found yourself unable to respond, nose burying itself into your wine glass as you pressed your lips against the cool outside to try and hide your burning smile.
His lips curled lightly, before he breathed a laugh once and gently shook your foot with his hand. “Eh? Come ‘ere-“
“Harry,” you breathed.
“C’mon, c’mere. ‘S room for more than just your feet.”
If it wasn’t for the creak of your chair as you slowly started to push yourself out of it, you wouldn’t have consciously been aware of how you were making your way to him.
His body relaxed, somehow managing to become closer to horizontal than sitting upright in his seat, as he peered as you walking the short distance over to him.
With his legs widened, he pressed his face into your side now that you were close enough. His nose inhaled the familiar scent of your perfume which was only faint now due to the other senses and scents it had mixed with throughout the evening.
Rolling his face out of your body, he knocked his head back and pressed his chin where his face had been. The face you showed him was worn with worry, an expression he did not want to meet.
“‘S wrong?”
His ask was lazy. Not wanting to dig deep and know. What if he didn’t like what he found?
“We know how this is going to end.”
“Do we?” He prodded. His eyes moved over your features quickly before they partly disappeared to him, thanks to your curtain of hair which slowly fell down.
His hand reached up, desperately brushing it away and cupping at the back of your head as best as he could while he remained seated.
“How’s that? Tell me.”
“Same, but different.”
You knew you shouldn’t use his words, not in a way that could be considered against him, but they - in the most ambiguous of ways - described everything perfectly.
“Not if I have my way.”
His words were almost lost against your stomach as he pressed his face against you once more and wrapped his hands around you; sweaty, nervous palms pressing to the backs of your thighs.
“Same, but better.”
Harry guided you down to his lap, his lips somehow managing to remain pressed into stomach, or your chest, or your clavicle, as your face became level with his.
“Different, but better.”
He kissed against your cheek slowly, nose nudging at your skin as he willed for you to relax against him. “I don’t know how you like it, like this,” he whispered in confession. “Show me?”
A puff of air left your lips as you turned to look at him with hooded eyes. His mouth was closer to yours than you originally thought, corners of lips brushing as you slightly pulled away.
When your lips met, it was in the softest of pecks that trembled under your nerves. Both sets of eyes looking back at each other as you innocently engaged.
If you were to take your eyes away from him in any way, you would notice those fluffy curls of his falling over his forehead and the lightest dusting of red blush making itself known against his cheeks and the tops of his ears.
He felt like a school boy, lost and clumsy. The kid who was once again flicking paper at you in science class just so he could pull a face at you over something your teacher was saying to get you to laugh.
Mouths hovering over each other, your breathing mixed, as Harry nodded to you slightly. You pressed your lips to his once more, feeling the way he gradually opened up to you, warmed and softened underneath the puckering of your mouth against his.
His hands, that slightly trembled, smoothed over your hips trying to pull your body so that it was more so flush against his. You moaned softly, your hands running over his jumper covered shoulders, fingers digging and pulling at the material just below the nape of his neck.
The chair beneath you moved lightly against the floor, not quite a scrape but a dull drag. Neither of you broke the kiss, but his hands against you allowed fingers to dig in to hold you steady to him so if you were to fall from where you were sitting, he still had you.
His lips slowed, moving to press against your cheeks again as he panted and his warmth breath bounced off your skin. “Think I got it,” he heaved.
“Do you?”
Harry hummed his ‘yea’, before pressing his lips so tenderly to your chin and the underside of your jaw. He felt how you swallowed heavily, throat dry from the way your mouth hung open and your neck further exposed itself as you lolled your head back.
You were falling further and further back, finding it hard to stay upright as he devoured you and made you weaker with each pulling kiss. His groans were needy, muffled and making your ache. While yours were silent and making his desperate to pull something from you. To build is confidence in that he was doing something right, you liked it this way too.
Hands fumbled and dragged upwards at your skirt, faintly aware now how it was similar - if not the same one - to the garment you wore to his show.
“Gonna take this off properly,” he mumbled, feeling the way your hips moved slightly from his hands to roll over him.
“You don’t have to-“
“No?”
Your voices were rushed as you spoke to each other, barely audible but loud enough all the same. His head was knocked back slightly as you hovered over him and you found yourself admiring his blissed out face even only in the lead up.
This was a sight that you hadn’t received last time, and if you had your way it was one you were going to greedily enjoy in all its glory.
Like watching the way his eyes closed and he softly grinned, the left side of his teeth started to show as the one side of his face reacted first while your hands blindly moved to lift up his jumper and the white tee he had on underneath, to allow you to find the button of his corduroys.
“What ya doing?”
“Nothing,” you mused.
He pulled a face, the kind that down turned his lips, eyebrows raised and head slightly tilted to the side. The kind that had you smiling.
“Not trying to get m’trousers around m’ankles for a second time within a week then?”
You giggled. “No.”
“Please do.”
A low moan left you as you pressed your forehead to his jaw and dropped your eyes. Your hands slowly started to pull at the brass button and pop it open before seeking out the zip thanks to his desperate plea, encouraging you to continue.
Hands quickly sought out the waistband of the trousers and gently pulled at the item. From the way that you were sat, you knew there was no way you were doing to make them budge.
“Stand up fo’ me,” he mumbled, quickly helping you get off his lap so that he could make light work of his clothing and pull down his trousers and underwear.
His bare bum made easy contact with the cushion leather beneath him, eyes carefully watching you as your hands moved to underneath your skirt.
The fabric of your underwear slipped so easily down your legs, his eyes just about caught the sight of them as they pooled against your ankles and you kicked them away.
Legs pressed together, you slowly untucked the v-necked blouse you had chosen and pulled it over your head. Wearing nothing but a fancy black bra, and a tight little skirt you hastily snatched for your wine and took a hefty gulp.
You could feel his eyes on you, a gruff groan catching in the back of his throat and when you finally turned your eyes from where they had been looking down at your heaving chest and how great this bra made your boobs look, causing him to move his hand down to start playing with himself.
His name left your lips in a breathy gasp, causing you to look up quite surprised at the find of his right hand gently tugging at his hard length.
“Keepin’ me waitin’,” he groaned, his left hand sloppily reached for the back of the collar of his jumper and tee, pulling the item roughly over his head.
“Fuck sake,” he mumbled under his breath, agitated that he was unable to get both items of in one go.
“Smooth.”
Harry stared up at you with a playful squint, before he gently fell back and moved the chair as he did so, the dull scrape heard once more.
And if you didn’t know he was flushed before, when you first kissed, you were definitely aware now. His eyes were blown out and hungry as they devoured you. Hair wildly haphazard before he let go of himself with a soft slap of his skin and harshly pushed his fingers through it.
“‘S it still a couple of quid for a strip of three,” his words brought you back to him. This smugness radiated off of him as he groaned and leaned forward to push his trousers down all of the way. Over his vans and socked feet, before he toed them off as well be harshly pulled at his white sport socks.
You didn’t even need for him to explain what he meant, staying silent as you watched his hands tug at his corduroys from the floor and retrieve his wallet. As his fingers moved around to find a couple of quid, the jangle of the coins was taunting.
One leg crossed over the other, you swayed and found yourself blushing when he looked up at you once he’d managed to find enough money and then some. With his wallet thrown on the table, he stood proudly from the seat and closed the short gap between your both.
Leaning forward he easily took your lips with his own before pulling away. With his face still close to yours he whispered, “Promise not to look at my arse.”
He didn’t hang around long enough for your reply, instead turning away and brazenly giving you all the time you would ever need to admire him, his fantastic bum and his hairy legs before he opted for a jog-walk type of thing, suddenly conscious that he was absolutely walking around naked from the waist down in a pub owned by your parents.
While you waited you took a quick pull from his whiskey, needing the heftier burn for Dutch courage. Nervousness returned when you heard the endings of what you believed to be Harry whistling.
“Machine ate all m’fuckin’ change,” he grumbled, regardless of the twinkle in his eye at the strip of overpriced condoms he had managed to score from the men’s bathroom. “‘S Durex. Business must be booming, your Dad’s definitely gone up in the world.”
“Please don’t talk about my Dad.”
He smiled brightly before he reached for your face with one hand and pulled you towards him mumbling his ‘sorry’s’ against your lips as he gave you several kisses in quick succession.
His other arm loosely wrapped around your back and pulled you with him as he walked backwards and slowly lowered himself back onto his previous seat. The chair creaked as you joined him, slipping into his lap and feeling the way he was smiling now.
Pulling away from your kiss, he quickly tore away one of the condoms allowing the others to fall without much care to the floor. Teeth took a hold of the foil-like packaging and he tore it not so elegantly with his eagerness.
With his cock nestled in the crease of his own thigh now, the heat radiating from it matched your own agonising yearning. Scooting back to give him space, you heard him groan as he gently rolled the condom down onto himself. Eyes looking up just in time to see him knocking his head back and breathing deeply through nose. The foil-like packaging was back in between his teeth once more as his hands were otherwise preoccupied.
Slowly your hand reached up to take it from his mouth, feeling some playful resistance as Harry continued to hold it in his teeth. His eyes were open and boyishly sincere, as you tugged at the item and he finally released it when you lightly laughed.
“Gi’me a kiss.”
Obliging him, you leant forward and slotted your mouths together a lot easier than you had done at the start of the night. A heat built easily between the two of you, as Harry gave you his tongue and you felt the flex of his jaw under your hand as he worked your mouths together.
He was eager, his hands tightening on your waist before he growled when he understood he had to grab handfuls of skirt before he could cup your backside. But when his skin met yours and you ground down onto his lap, the groan that left him was the most animalistic sound imaginable.
The frown your face fell into showed your desire to whimper, as he kept you atop him and marvelled in the way you writhed, both from satisfaction and keenness at the pressure of his cock against you.
“Can I have you again?” He asked, the startings of sweaty hair being pushed off your face. His eyes peered at you, searching for his answer as you seemed to be able to do nothing but pant and look back at him yearningly. “Are you letting me?”
You dragged your fingers down his t-shirt covered torso and lifted it slightly just to see the quiver of his stomach as pulled you onto him once more.
“Like this?” you voiced, meekly.
“‘F this is what you like then, yea’”, he breathed into your mouth, hands shifting your pliant body. “Is this what you want?”
You wordlessly nod, mouth falling open in a breathy gasp when he managed to move you so he sat so enticingly at your entrance. He was teasing both yourself and him, wanting to keep you both on the edge.
Harry blinked a few times as he looked at you, and you revelled in the way he couldn’t seem to concentrate. His hands held your flesh tightly, fingertips dipping into the skin of your bum cheeks as he gently guided you down.
An unattractive and dull, quite strangled noise, left your throat as you let your forehead fall against his temple. Eyes falling down you see the cups of your bra fall slack, you felt his hands softly gliding over your shoulder blades and shoulders.
He rid you of your bra, hands moving to your chest to squeeze your breasts. His jaw fell slack when you found yourself sitting snugly on his lap - on him - settled and already feeling spent.
This was so different compared to the last time; if not overwhelming so because of the way you both appeared to be so present. Each movement of your hips, and the way they rolled and grinded and dragged felt too much. So much so that you had become nothing more than a mess of short, quick breathing and blushing, sweaty cheeks.
Slack-jaw, you were unable to find it in you to return Harry’s kisses, and his joyful, breathy chuckle seemed to lead you to believe he was fine with it. In fact he was happy to keep going as you were.
Your movements were frantic, and despite the build up, not entirely driven by lust either. Harry continued to encourage you to move as you were; slow, grinding motions on his lap that caused the filthiest of groans and dirtiest of laughs from the two of you. Laughter that was only made stronger as the chair that held you both started to creak too.
You couldn’t do much about it though other than to breathe into each other’s mouth, and rock your hips together with more fervour each time.
“Yea’,” he breathed against your lips, left hand at the back of your head holding you to him, while his right rested just above your bum. “‘S better. That’s better.”
It was better. Better than last time. Better than anything before.
And while it hadn’t been frantic before, it was now as your legs that were hanging down either side of the chair started to tremble and your toes started to dig into the worn carpet beneath them. Hips knocking and your clit dragging heavenly against his public bone, you grasped his name as you buried your face into his neck and dug your nails into his nape.
Harry hissed his approval which fell to a groan as your nails pushed up into his hair and lightly pulled as you sought leverage. There were so many things you were learning this time around and his penchant for liking his hair pulled from time to time, was one of those things.
“God, ‘m gonna come soon,” he admitted, gruntly as he forced your hips down as he anchored his legs and widened his seating position. “Are you close?”
“Yeah,” you whined. “Yes. Like this-“
And as you pressed your face to his once more, he was everywhere. Soft but hard, loving but commanding. Smelled like clean washing detergent but of country air. Inviting and alluring, allowing you your lingering kisses between grounding breaths that became staccato in unison with the movement of your hips.
You aren’t ashamed of the whines that escaped your throat as you squeezed down on his cock, praised by indecipherable works that left Harry but were nothing more to you than lips moving against your rough and dry ones. Word that made the burning feeling of your pending orgasm spread through your entire body, warming you and setting you alight.
It was long and deep, with your toes curling into the carpet they were pressed against now. Barely able to catch your breath, sucking in harshly and shaking.
And when you came to, thoroughly exhausted, you noticed that he was waiting for your say so. That he could let go and enjoy the pleasure brought about by your shared labour.
“Coming-“ was all the warning that you got and was enough to encourage you to watch him as he came, his face completely void of anything other than pure pleasure. Wrinkles and frowns fade, his mouth falling open with his pink lips glinting prettily under the dim Christmas lights around you.
His forehead gleamed with sweat as he wrapped his arms around you tightly and his hips bucked up one, two and three times for good measure. “Fuck me,” he heaved gruffly.
You were suddenly desperate to feel his lips on yours despite the way you both continued to fight to get your breath back, but settled for resting them against the skin of his cheek, which was hot to the touch.
When you felt Harry start to go soft, you reluctantly pulled away and let him slip out of you. He wasn’t so keen to let you get too far, holding you just that bit higher than before with his hand cupping gently but firmly at your hip. “Where’d you think you’re going,” he hummed, eyes still closed as he continued to heavily inhale and exhale.
You softly smiled, taking in his soft face and responded by nuzzling close to him again.
Nowhere. Somewhere. Anywhere with him.
A place where only the two of you knew, like the back of your hand. The same way you knew each other. Now and possibly forever.

finding something to do + kim mingyu
Tumblr media
you had spent your better years bored with mingyu, and he thought holding your hand felt like holding his fleeting youth.
wc.4088 | almost smut, mostly fluff, friends to lovers/uni au, fem reader, that one trope where there is mutual pining but both of them think the other is gay, maybe like half an ounce of angst if you squint Really Hard, lots o swears
i usually make my fics hella neutral as far as gender and size and orientation goes but hahahaha this ones for the average sized bi girls! also just realized that i stopped using capitalization in my fics and yk what? im fine with it. this fic is based off of the song of the same name by hellogoodbye.
*
“stop honking, other people live here.”
mingyu grinned at you through the half-open passenger window, leaning over to pop open the door. the handle had never recovered from a giant cup of soda crashing into the side of his ride in the middle of a particularly rowdy summer shenanigan, the sticky substance soaking into the mechanics before he had gotten the chance to hose it down in a friend's driveway at 2am. now, you had to wait for him to open it from the inside on all future shenanigans, and you could only roll the window down half way, lest you have to laugh at mingyu aggressively pulling on the window between his palms as you pulled on the motorized switch to coerce it back into the closed position. you slid into the co-pilot seat and looked over to your best friend.
"if you answered your texts i wouldn't have to honk."
you rolled your eyes, tugging on the seatbelt. "go, gyu."
he laughed and shifted into drive, turning up his stereo as he pulled away from your apartment building, hand returning to the stick to shift up a gear. "thanks for coming."
"what else was i gonna do?" you slipped the slides off your socked feet and pulled your legs to sit cross-legged. "i finished rewatching avatar."
"study, maybe?"
you looked at him. he was right, finals were right around the corner, but you had an uncharacteristically light load this quarter (due to you not realizing you needed approval for one course before registration and it filling before you could sign up) and you weren't too worried about the three tests you would have to take in a couple weeks. "could say the same to you."
mingyu let out another laugh, suddenly singing along to the song as he ran a hand through his hair. you smiled at his profile, then pulled out your phone to update your instagram story. as you moved the camera over to mingyu from the streetlight-lit road ahead of you, he laughed midway through a lyric and practically yelled "mwoya" at you, gripping the wheel with both hands and jumping in his seat.
you laughed hysterically, frantically saving the video before pointing the screen at him. he turned down the music to watch it, eyes flickering between your phone and the road. he laughed at the way it cut off on both of you screaming. "what was that?"
you giggled, swiping through filters. "you being dumb."
"you love me."
"you're right."
mingyu smiled at that, adjusting the stereo volume again, bobbing his head to the rhythm as he drove to the one convenience store in your town that sold his favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream, a mission he had called upon you for at 11:30pm. when it switched over to a song you knew, mingyu noticed your subconscious humming to the tune and a few lyrics falling out of your lips, the wind from the open window whipping through your hair.
by the time you reached a small parking lot across town, you had yawned probably half a dozen times.
"tired?" mingyu pouted as he rolled up the windows and unbuckled his seatbelt. "sorry for dragging you out."
you shook your head, following suit and pulling yourself out of the car. "i slept too late, i think. i'll be fine."
you followed mingyu across the quiet street to the convenience store the two of you frequented perhaps too often, finding yourself there after late night study sessions or mid-barhop for ramen, snacks, and most importantly, the mint choco ice cream bar of mingyu's affections.
after perusing the options as if you hadn't been there earlier in the week, you picked out an ice cream bar as well as a couple bags of chips. you walked up behind mingyu at the register as he was pulling out his wallet.
"i'll pay if you come over and play smash," he said, nodding at your hands full of snacks.
you eyed him. "what's the catch?"
"you can't be mad when i play meta knight."
you groaned, but put your things on the counter for the cashier that was likely the same age as you both to scan. "fine. i'll still beat you."
mingyu grinned at you, and you snagged your ice cream bar off the counter as he paid, the other snacks getting put in a plastic bag. you grabbed the bag and held it open as mingyu retrieved his own ice cream, both of you peeling them open as you exited the convenience store.
"mm," you let out, mouth full of ice cream as you leaned against the metal bar meant to lock up bikes on the sidewalk. "it's nice out tonight."
mingyu agreed, biting into his treat. "it's refreshing but not too cold."
you nodded, watching cars pass on the street. "i can't believe it's almost summer already."
"me neither," he said, squatting in front of you as he ate. "we're gonna be seniors next year."
you groaned. "have you decided if you're doing summer quarter?"
he shook his head. "i decided against it. i only really have to take one extra course next year so it didn't feel worth it."
you nodded, looking down at him. he was looking to his left, absentmindedly watching someone walk their dog across the street.
after the ice cream was finished and you threw away your wrappers, mingyu cursed slightly at the fact that he still managed to get his finger sticky despite doing his best to avoid meltage. after he popped open your door, he dug in the glovebox for some wet naps, playfully knocking your knees aside as you tried to sit. you laughed, waiting for him to be done so you could put the bag of snacks on the floor in front of you.
when you met mingyu sophomore year, your hair was shorter and he was blonde. he had sat next to you in your shared ecology lab and promptly fell asleep before the class had even started, and you had to nudge him awake when the professor was handing out the syllabus.
"gah, fuck, i'm up," he waved a massive hand in your face, blinking away his sleep before focusing on you with furrowed brows. "you're not seokmin."
seokmin was his roommate, you learned, and also met a few weeks later when you went over to their dorm to work on assignments together. they've since upgraded to a compact but efficient three bedroom apartment and acquired another roommate. you stared out the window into the night sky as mingyu drove to said apartment, blinking heavily at the lure of a nap. you pulled your knees up to your chest and tried to listen to the song playing from the stereo.
only moments later, mingyu glanced over and noticed that your eyes had fluttered shut, your head lolling against the window. he wondered, staring at you in awe, how much longer he could pretend he wasn't in love with you.
when you and mingyu had first gotten to know each other, you admittedly had a bit of a crush on him, until you found out he had a boyfriend. even after they split almost four months later, and you had been there to bring him chicken and beer while he fumbled with the drawstrings of his sweatpants and rubbed his swollen eyes with the back of his hand, you decidedly resigned any feelings for him, knowing it was a lost cause for you to pine after a guy that didn't even like girls. hell, you barely even liked boys - you had gone on dates with six different girls, yet not a single guy since you came to university, and mingyu had sat on your bed while you tried to get ready, giving a concise "try again" when you showed him an oversized sweatshirt.
"why not this?" you asked, groaning.
"you have good proportions, bitch. show 'em off."
rolling your eyes, you rooted around in your closet for something less shapeless. your style had always skewed a little athletic, a little hip-hop. you bought mostly mens fit shirts, making the task slightly more difficult. you found a nice pair of high waisted jeans you hadn't worn in a while and paired it with a drop shoulder tee and a turtleneck, finally getting the approval of your best friend.
all of the facts laid in front of him led mingyu to believe you were completely and utterly gay, and even if you weren't, your taste in women suggested he was the exact opposite of your type. you liked petite girls. girls with long hair and that wore skirts and lots of rings. the kind of girls that you had to lean down to kiss.
so he continued to try out the pool of eligible bachelors in your area that were within a respectable age range. he had even tried to date some girls, but every time they tried to suggest the dates go further, he would think of the way his best friend's fingers had sent electricity through his entire body just by brushing an eyelash off his lip, or how you would trace the veins that ran through his wrist as you watched a movie together on your couch. the way your touch set his skin on fire. the way he wished he could just admit the way he felt about you.
he always smiled and said he'd call them sometime. he never did. it wasn't fair to them, but neither was him only ever asking them out because they reminded him of you somehow.
guys were easier, he thought. they didn't remind him of you.
mingyu was so caught up in the sight of you sleeping that he absolutely ran a red. he cursed under his breath when he realized the light he was passing under had been yellow for longer than he had thought, thinking how lucky he was that the cross street was empty. good thing he was almost home.
"hey, sleepyhead," he said when you stretched suddenly as he pulled into his parking spot. "do you wanna go home?"
you shook your head, yawning. "no, i need to eat chips."
he laughed and killed the engine. "you left a pair of house shorts here and you can borrow a shirt," he said, suggesting you crash in his bed when you got too tired for smash.
"what, you don't wanna carry me home?"
mingyu slammed the car door shut and shoved his hand in his pocket. "i'd rather not, no."
you stretched again, a hand reaching out to ruffle his dark hair as he tried to punch in the door code for you to enter his building. "mean."
he laughed at you again, leading you up the three flights of stairs to his apartment.
"hey, minghao," you said, waving at the shadowy figure that was seemingly melting into the couch, illuminated by the tv.
he raised a hand in acknowledgment, sitting with his neck at a 90 degree angle, a movie with subtitles on, and his phone face down on his chest. "yo."
"wanna play smash?" mingyu asked.
"no thanks."
mingyu dropped his keys on the kitchen counter. "we're playing smash."
"you're funny."
you laughed, and mingyu pouted. "please, myungho?"
minghao finally looked at his roommate. "i'm watching annihilation. the switch is handheld for a reason."
you watched mingyu roll his eyes with a smirk on your lips. he went over to the switch dock by the tv and grabbed the console, sticking his tongue out at hao. you giggled, following mingyu down the short hall to his room as minghao waved you both off.
"have i said that i like hao a lot?"
"yes," mingyu said. "like, every time you come over."
you smiled, throwing open his dresser and carding through the shirts that would surely be massive on you. "well i do."
the switch got tossed onto his bed and he sneaked around you to grab a pair of sweatpants from the drawer above the one you were looking in. he also pulled out the pair of shorts you had left, putting them on top of the dresser. "i'm getting naked now."
you shook your head lightly, knowing he was only changing his pants, but kept your back to him out of respect anyways. you picked up the shorts. "did you wash these?"
"yeah, i threw 'em in with my laundry last week."
you nodded, spotting the color you had been looking for. "aha!" you pulled on the ashy gray shirt, revealing one of your favorite things you had ever convinced mingyu to buy. an extremely soft, lightly distressed shirt with a tasteful rip along the neckline. "i'm getting naked now."
"clear," mingyu said, letting you know he wasn't looking as he flopped onto his bed, propping up the switch on his bedside table and setting up the controllers.
you pulled off your loose sweatshirt and swapped it for the borrowed shirt, then shoved the denim shorts down your legs, laughing lightly at how your sleep shorts completely disappeared under the shirt. you turned around, stretching out your arms to show how large the shirt was on you. "look."
mingyu rolled onto his back and propped himself on an elbow to look at you, giggling as you swam in his shirt. outwardly, he smiled, but internally, he thought this was simultaneously the worst and best idea he had ever had.
you looked absolutely stunning in his clothes, he thought, but only said that you were cute. he ignored the familiar feeling in his stomach and handed you a controller as you crawled onto his bed, settling on your stomach next to him.
he had to stop putting himself in this position. you were far too pretty for him to forget his feelings towards you.
but maybe that's what he wanted. maybe he didn't want to forget his feelings. maybe the few times you had told him his dates were attractive weren't just objective reassurances. maybe he held onto the sliver of hope that you could possibly be attracted to him, too.
you slammed your face into the bed as the game loaded. "why are all switch load times utter ass?"
mingyu adjusted so that he was laying on his side with an arm propping him up and flicked the back of your head. "because the console can fit in my palm."
your hand went up to swat at the culprit of the flick, and you pouted as you lifted your head to look at him. "that's not fair, your hands are huge." you wiggled onto your elbows to grab his wrist, pressing your palms together. "see?"
mingyu laughed, feeling his cheeks heat up. "well, you have baby hands, so." he punctuated his point by curling his finger over yours. you pouted again, then slipped your fingers between his, thinking about how nice his warm hand felt over yours.
you blinked, then pulled your hand away and grabbed the joycon as the game finally loaded the skippable intro, hoping you weren't blushing too much as you cleared your throat. mingyu stared at your pink cheeks for a moment, his mind reeling. was he seeing something that wasn't there? or was his hope in you validated?
you were clicking through the menu and felt his eyes on you, and all you wanted to do was hide behind your hair and avoid eye contact. you nearly jumped when mingyu cleared his throat.
"hey, i have something i've been meaning to ask you."
your eyes met his briefly. "shoot."
"do you…" mingyu paused, trying to think of the right way to phrase his question. "i know you have exes that are guys, but is that something you're, like… still into?"
your ears burned and you wiggled until you could sit back on your own legs, fiddling with the hem of the shirt you stole and hesitating to make eye contact. "you mean, being with guys?"
"yeah," he said, watching you intently with his brows furrowed.
"yeah, i mean, i guess?" you shrugged. "i like both."
mingyu nodded slowly, watching your eyes as they stared at the wall across his small room. your cheeks were a rosy pink, and you were chewing on your lip. "me too."
you looked at him finally, your eyes wide. "what?"
he gave you a crooked smile. "i like guys and girls, too."
if you were blushing before, now you were blazing. "oh, my god, i'm an idiot."
he laughed. "what, did you think i was, like, totally gay?"
"shut up," you threw yourself down onto his bed, hiding your face in the blanket. in your defense, he had definitely called himself gay before, but you definitely called yourself gay constantly, so maybe you shouldn't put so much weight in those words. "shut up, i'm embarrassed. i don't want to talk about it."
hearing mingyu laugh next to you made you feel like you were on fire, then you felt the ghosting of fingers on your arm. you froze. mingyu's voice was soft when he spoke again. "do you wanna talk about how i have a massive crush on you?"
you slowly raised your head to look at him, cheeks burning red. he gave you a small smile before you choked out a "huh?"
"i ran a red earlier," he said suddenly, his fingers moving from your arm to absentmindedly brush your hair out of your face, then to your shoulder, then back. it was a reassuring touch, one you had felt from him before, but you still were caught off guard by his sudden succession of confessions. "you were sleeping and i couldn't stop looking at you. i totally could have crashed the car."
"dude, what the fuck." you stared at him, then lowered your voice to imitate him. "'hey i have a crush on you and i almost killed us both because of it.' that's you, that's what you sound like right now."
mingyu laughed in your face and you couldn't help the chuckle that fell out of your mouth. "sorry i almost killed us."
"i guess i can forgive you," you said, picking at your nails suddenly despite them being clean. "especially because i might have a crush on you, too."
mingyu kept staring at you with a fond smile, and you wondered if he could also hear how hard your heart was beating. "can i kiss you?"
you looked at him, trying not to stare at his lips. you nodded, almost hurriedly. his hand pulled against your back as you rolled your body to face him, and your hand reached out for his jaw as he pulled you into him. and when his lips crashed into yours, you yelped slightly, melting into him almost immediately. they were plush against yours, and he was gentle as he pushed your back onto the mattress, adjusting to hover over you slightly. when you let your head fall back onto the bed, he grinned at your blown out pupils and swollen lips, buzzing at the way your hands curled around around his neck, fingers digging into the hair at his nape. he adjusted again, a hand finding your waist as he pulled back to let you swing your leg across his lap. you pulled him back over you, enjoying the way his hips hit the back of your thighs as he caged you in with an elbow by your shoulder. you stared up at him, heart racing, eyes flicking down to his lips too many times for him to not take the hint.
mingyu had always enjoyed pleasing you. this definitely felt like the next natural progression.
he dove into you, and your arms wrapped themselves around his shoulders. mingyu was a hugger, and he also liked wearing very little clothing when he worked out, so you knew what he looked like under the plain white tee. knew what he felt like. but suddenly - with his hands slipping under what was technically his shirt to properly feel your waist, with how his tongue fought with yours - you really felt him for the first time. the way his shoulder muscles rippled just beneath the skin as he adjusted, clearly trying to not make his growing bulge so obvious. you considered the fact that you might get to see how much leg day really benefited, considering how much he posted about it with sweaty post-workout pictures on his story.
mingyu felt your thighs squeeze around his hips, pulling back slightly. "is this okay?"
"is it?" you responded, a hand pulling back to fall on his jaw. "i've wanted you for ages."
he laughed lightly. "god, we're idiots."
you had no time to respond before he was kissing you again, his hips rolling into yours, pulling a surprised moan from you. he ate it up, his fingers gripping your waist tighter at the sound. you felt his girth as it pressed against you, and you gasped. when was the last time you had been with a guy? high school?
when mingyu's teeth bit down on your lip, you were really glad he was the guy you were unconsciously waiting for.
he tugged on your hips as he rolled onto his back, pulling you to straddle his lap. you giggled slightly, settling back into the open mouthed kisses as he ran his hands from your ass up your back, slipping under the sports bra you were wearing.
then there was a knock. you yelped, burying your face in his shoulder as you heard the door swing open. "make room for king k r- oh shit!"
you laughed into mingyu's neck as he yelled for seokmin to get the hell out, his hands tugging the hem of the stolen shirt over your butt in an attempt to shield it from view. you heard him squeak out an "i'm sorry!" as the door shut again.
"i'll kill him."
you exhaled, the laughter still on your lips as you looked at his profile from where your cheek pressed against his shoulder. "bet he thinks we're secretly dating."
mingyu laughed, scratching an eyebrow before returning his palm to your ass. "not a secret now."
"oh, so we're dating now?"
mingyu craned his neck to look at you. "is that not what was going to happen?"
you giggled, sitting up and putting your hands on his chest. you adjusted your knees, fully aware of how the movement would rub you against his still hard bulge. "we have both fucked people without dating them afterwards, kim mingyu."
"ah," he said, digging his fingers into your soft ass and rutting into you gently, making you gasp. "we're gonna fuck? i thought we were just joking."
you slapped his chest, giggling still as you rolled your hips. "if you don't wanna, i could ask hao-"
"oh, shut up," he said, pulling you down to kiss him. "if you liked myungho like that you would have tried it ages ago."
you smiled, your thumb running over his adams apple as you placed gentle kisses on his jaw. "sweetie, are we jealous?"
"i don't deserve this, you know?" mingyu pulled your hips against him again, a low grunt tumbling from his beautiful mouth. "i haven't put my dick in a girl since i met you and now i'm with you and you're talking about my roommate? this seems extremely mean."
you giggled again, then placed your lips on his again. he instantly kissed you back, one hand leaving your ass to go to the back of your neck. "you're the only guy i ever think about," you whispered, getting repeatedly interrupted by mingyu's needy lips on yours.
the wolf-like grin that broke onto his face sent chills down your spine. "let's keep it that way."
*
seokmin's hand was still on the doorknob, his wide eyes blinking, when minghao paused his movie and sat up to poke his head out and look down the hall. "the hell was that?"
he puffed out his cheeks as he walked back into the living room, his palms clapping gently. "i thought you said y/n came over to play smash?"
minghao's eyebrow quirked up. "she did."
the eldest sat on the couch. "i thought mingyu was gay?"
"what?" minghao looked down the hall again. "wait, what? were they-" he stopped when he heard a muffled groan that was far too familiar.
seokmin grabbed the remote and pressed play, scratching his cheek as he turned up the volume. "what are we watching? catch me up."

Hermann preparing for date night with Newt by selecting where to eat solely by what he has a coupon for. Or, ya know, frugal connoisseur Hermann. <3 ksci
inspired by a convo re: the fact that ksci @k-sci-janitor likes to make fun of me for never letting a coupon go to waste even if it means walking like 2 miles in the cold to use it :/ like im gonna NOT get a free Baja blast. (there is one small little allusion to some M rated stuff towards the end in this)
-------------------
It’s not a rare occurrence that Hermann will treat Newt to dinner when the mood of dining out strikes them, but the point is that he’s doing it in a way that’s supremely…shifty tonight. Well, maybe not shifty. Weird? For one thing, he didn’t tell Newt where they were going until they were already on the bus headed there, for another, it’s their sharing-a-lab-anniversary, which tradition dictates they evenly split a bill (even if the origins have more to do with both trying to show up the other and take advantage and order the most expensive shit on the menu). The weirdest thing is definitely that, when Hermann got up to pay the bill five minutes ago—a small, folded piece of paper clutched in his hand—he left his wallet laying next to his wine glass on the table.
Newt stirs his straw around in his cup of soda, clinking ice cubes against the sides, and squints at the wallet. Did Hermann bring cash to pay with? He could’ve stuck some in his pockets without Newt seeing, or his bank card, even, which would explain the forlorn wallet. Or maybe forgetting the wallet was totally an accident, and he’ll be back in a few seconds to pick it up and pay for real when he realizes. That’s probably it.
When Hermann comes back to their table, though, he doesn’t bother with his wallet—he takes his seat, picks up his wine glass, and tips it at Newt. “That was quite lovely, wasn’t it?”
Newt hums. “It was.”
“I quite liked the fish I got,” Hermann says.
“I loved my noodles,” Newt says. “We should try to copy the recipe back at the base.” He sets his straw delicately on the table. “How’d you pay without your wallet?”
“My wallet?” Hermann says. He makes a show of catching sight of the wallet, arches his eyebrows in mock surprise, and picks it up. Here we go. “Oh, goodness. Did I forget this? Well—it’s not as if I needed it…” He tucks it neatly into his inner jacket pocket.
“Hermann,” Newt says, rolling his eyes. “What’d you do, get a hundred-percent discount by reminding them we saved the world a few months ago?” Hermann shakes his head, and takes a long sip of his wine. “Did you write a check? Did you pretend we got food poisoning or something?” Hermann shakes his head again, and this time, his mouth begins to creep up into a smug smile. Newt remembers the piece of paper. “Dude. You got us a fucking Groupon. No wonder you were being so weird about what I was ordering!”
(“I think we ought to stick with the entrees labelled B, Newton,” Hermann had said, flipping a page forward in Newt’s menu. “They look—er—far better.”
“More expensive,” Newt had said.
“What’s it matter? I’m paying.” Hermann had pointed at the noodle dish Newt had ended up getting. “Look, I reckon you’d like that.”)
Hermann finally grins triumphantly. “I did—and saved us quite a decent from our ‘date night’ fund. Pity it didn’t extend to dessert, I suppose, but we could always find some ice cream at the commissary later.”
Newt can’t even pretend to be exasperated. The noodles rocked. And they would’ve rocked even more if he knew that Hermann was saving them a few bucks. “You’re such a weirdo,” Newt says, shaking his head, though he’s mirroring Hermann’s grin. “Is that why you picked this place?”
“Not entirely,” Hermann says. He takes a long, slow sip of his wine. “Mostly I picked it to make a point.”
“About?”
“About my being right.”
Newt sighs. Only Hermann would dredge up old arguments on Lab Anniversary Night. It wasn’t even an argument, really—all that happened was that Hermann asked Newt to hand him his glasses cleaning cloth from his parka, and it took Newt almost ten minutes because Hermann’s pockets were so jam-packed with a million little coupons for everything from granola bars (which they can get from the mess hall for free) to mouthwash (which Newt can snag from the commissary, also for free, whenever they need it) that he couldn’t find anything but. A majority of them were expired. Then Newt remarked on how Hermann was nuts, and Hermann remarked on how Newt didn’t understand the value of making smart financial decisions, and they went back and forth for a bit like that. This was a whole week ago, too. In terms of Newt and Hermann arguments, that’s more than ancient history. “Are we really talking about the fucking coupons now?” Newt says.
“Frugality pays off,” Hermann says, cryptically. “Now we really ought to head out. The forecast is calling for rain, and I don’t fancy getting caught in it.”
They get caught in the rain anyway. Newt invites himself over to Hermann’s bunk to dry off, because Hermann bought a space heater back when they were stationed in Russia, and it travelled with him here to aid through the long nights of overpowering A/C. Right now, it’s aiding Newt through stripping out of his wet clothes. When he’s down to just his boxers, he snags the quilt from Hermann’s bed, and waits for him to finish up in his little en suite bathroom to hopefully catch a hot shower. One of the unexpected side effects of the world not ending and most nonessential personnel leaving the ‘dome in doves is that they almost never run out of hot water anymore. Newt can take a shower at midnight and not freeze his ass off. It’s awesome, really.
Hermann emerges from the bathroom in a dorky little pair of pajamas, a dressing gown knotted at his waist. “Oh, Newton,” he sighs, and prods at Newt’s blanket cocoon with his cane, “not my grandmother’s quilt.”
“I’m dry!” Newt says. “Mostly!”
He gives up the quilt to Hermann and ducks into the bathroom to brush his teeth. He stuck a spare toothbrush in the medicine cabinet at some point, for when he was too sleepy and lazy after makeout sessions to go back to his bunk, and sure enough he finds it alongside a suspiciously generic-looking tube of toothpaste. It doesn’t even have a label. He doesn’t think much of it until he starts to use it, which is when he immediately gags and begins to rinse his mouth out with hot water. “What the hell is this toothpaste?” he chokes out. “It tastes—awful.”
“Ah,” Hermann says. He ducks his head into the bathroom, looking a bit sheepish. “Well. I found a coupon for that brand, and I know it’s not very, er, pleasant, but—I saved forty percent, Newton.” Newt continues to rinse his mouth out, this time adding some mouthwash into the mix. “Oh, really, now you’re just being dramatic. It’s only toothpaste.”
“Dude,” Newt says. “I feel like I just rubbed, like, acid cement all over my gums.”
“Ah,” Hermann repeats, guiltily.
A bit later, Newt goes in to kiss Hermann goodnight as they settle into Hermann’s bed together, but pulls back with a sad little pout when Hermann merely flinches away from him. “Oh, Newton, I’m sorry,” Hermann says, quickly wrapping his arms around Newt and kissing his neck. It softens the blow somewhat. “It’s that bloody toothpaste. You still smell like it. You’re right, it’s rubbish.”
“Tell you what,” Newt says, grumpily. “I’ll buy you a brand new tube tomorrow. My treat.”
Newt mostly forgets about the coupon thing for a bit. The odd little item crops up in the lab that makes him roll his eyes fondly at Hermann, but nothing as major as the Groupon or toothpaste. Hermann’s preferred tea brand swapped out for something Newt’s never heard of in a flavor that Hermann clearly detests, if his face when he drinks it is anything to go by, for example, the chocolate digestives Hermann keeps in his desk replaced with plain ones, his new box of chalk all in a salmony shade of pink and weak enough to snap apart under his fingers if he presses down too hard on his chalkboard. When Newt asks about the changes, the answer’s always the same: Hermann had a coupon for them, or they were less expensive than his usual. Newt just wishes he could understand where this sudden bought of thriftiness came from. It’s not like it was back during the war, where they had to pinch pennies and save in every area they could if they wanted to supplement their nonexistent funding. They’re actually getting paychecks now, on behalf of the UN’s guilty conscience! They have free room and board! They even put a few neat bucks away from some (heavily-redacted) interviews they did back in late January.
What Newt’s getting at is Hermann doesn’t have to limit them ordering out sushi to only places with free delivery on date nights, or skimp on his pizza toppings (four-topping down to two) so they can use a better coupon, or buy any of those subpar teabags or digestives or toothpaste tubes. But he just…is.
The tipping point occurs on a Saturday night about a month after the Groupon incident.
“Nn. Hermann. Do that again.”
“Do—?"
“Yeah.” Newt groans, turning his head to the side. “Oh, shit.”
“Newton—” Hermann kisses his throat. “Newton, you’re—”
“Wait.” Newt pauses. “What is that?”
“Oh, er.” Hermann pulls his hand away. “You mean the—the—?”
“Yeah. It feels…weird.” He frowns. “That is not what we used last time.”
“Oh. No. It isn’t.” Hermann clears his throat. “Well, Newton—see—we were out, so I thought I’d—I’d buy a larger bottle, to last us longer, and I happened to find a coupon for this lovely—er—gallon-sized—”
“You’re kidding,” Newt says.
“Only I thought it was a very frugal purchase,” Hermann says. “We do tend to, er, burn through it rather quickly.”
Newt rolls away from him. “Dude. We need to have a talk.”
Some brief amount of time later, they sit together on the end of Hermann’s bed, clad in their pajama bottoms and, in Hermann’s case, one of Newt’s sweatshirts. Newt waits until Hermann meets his eyes blushingly before he proceeds. “What is up with you lately?” he says. “You’ve been acting so—weird. Weirder than usual,” he amends. “Since when have you cared about saving a couple bucks on random shit like pizza?”
Hermann fidgets, and sighs, and finally reaches to pull open the drawer of his nightstand. He retrieves a piece of paper folded into quadrants, and for a wild moment Newt thinks it might be another Groupon. “Oh, I wanted it to be a surprise,” Hermann says. “I was going to wait until it was all finalized—but it’s close enough now, so I suppose there’s no harm in it.” He thrusts the paper out at Newt, and Newt—still wondering if it’s not another Groupon—unfolds it with surprise to find what looks like a flight itinerary. Two tickets for Hong Kong to Boston, with a short layover; then two more tickets a week after they land for a short trip from Boston to some town in Maine Newt recognizes as being seaside. They’re made out to Hermann Gottlieb and Newton Geiszler and purchased a little over a week ago.
“You kept telling me you wanted me to meet your father,” Hermann says, and rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. “And—I thought it might be nice, to have an—er—vacation, for a few days. We’ve certainly earned one. And it’s not as if we have any truly pressing obligations at the moment that can’t be put on hold for a week or two. I was planning on booking us a little cottage up in Maine—or maybe just a hotel room, I hadn’t decided—but we don’t have to if you don’t—”
“And you’ve been saving up for it?” Newt interrupts.
“For a few months now,” Hermann says. “Since February, in fact.”
“And that’s why…?”
The tips of Hermann’s ears turn red. “Every penny helped,” he says.
Newt carefully re-folds the itinerary, sets it aside, and then kisses Hermann soundly. It would be safe to say that Hermann’s thoughtful, romantic moods tend to be on the spontaneous side, probably as spontaneous as they are in Newt, so when one strikes Hermann (and in such a perfectly Hermann way as this one) Newt doesn’t like to take it for granted. “Of course I wanna go on vacation with you,” Newt says. “You rock. Seriously.”
“I’m glad to hear that,” Hermann says, looking pleased.

Ask Me Again
Alright. This one takes a bit of explaining. I have this headcannon that in Asgard, if you are engaged and don’t get married in under a year or so, you have to propose again. I know that’s not a thing but roll with it, okay?
This was originally 2 parts when I wrote it but its faster to read all at once. It is a lot though; this one kind of got away from me... 7,151 words. Oops.
Background: Noelle and Loki were “Bound” by a witch in Alfheim after a battle they fought in. This means that the witch split each of their souls in half and one half switched places. Noelle has half of Loki’s soul and vise versa. They can feel each others emotions and hear each others thoughts.
Summary: Loki returns from a mission with serious injuries, which prompts him to ask Noelle a question and surprise her with a fairytale dream.
Warnings: Implied smut, slight issues with a father (I don’t like the term “daddy issues”), fighting kind of, more fluff than should be possible but I accomplished somehow, swearing I think? I did base a part of this on scenes from Criminal Minds and How I Met Your Mother. There is also a crossover in characters from Scrubs because I love Dr. Cox.
Ask Me Again
Noelle PoV:
"Are you ever going to take that off?"
"Fuck off, Stark. Let me wear my cape in peace!" I say as I walk into the kitchen, said cape flowing around me.
Loki is laughing at the exchange. Of course he is.
He is the one that bought the cape.
It is black with a velvet collar and intricate beading accents in the lapels and down the middle of the back. The inside is lined with silver satin. The Phantom of the Opera's cape.
Each Avenger has a floor that could easily be called a penthouse. Loki and I each had our own since we tried to keep our relationship a secret when we first joined the Avengers, but the second that Bucky started flirting with me, that plan ended. We have lived together ever since and Tony turned Loki's floor into a movie theater.
"Why are you even here Tony? Don't you have somewhere else to be? Something to blow up?" I ask him through the pass through in the kitchen.
"It already blew up. I was kicked out of the lab by Bruce. I got bored in the lounge so I figured I'd hang here."
"Why did you believe yourself welcome?" Loki asks him, sounding annoyed, from his corner.
"I could think of many reasons but I'm going to just ignore that question because it will be answered in about..." he looks at his watch, "16 seconds. Got any food in there, Lady Darkness?"
"Not any that I'm willing to share, Iron Man."
The elevator dings and out steps the reason Tony Stark made himself welcome in my house.
"Hi, Auntie Elle! Mr. Loki, I came to see if you had the ice cream Mr. Stark told me I couldn't have anymo-" he stops as he turns the corner, his eyes finding Tony sitting on the couch.
"Hello, Pete."
Peter squeaks.
"What did I tell you about using Reindeer Games' mischievous temperament and amusement in disobeying me?"
"That if I'm going to be sneaky, to use Mr. Bucky."
"Hey!" Loki looks put out.
"Exactly! It's too obvious if you use Rock of Ages. He is the most likely to help you keep things from me."
"I don't agree."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Stark. I just really like coffee ice cream floats made with red bull instead of root beer and Auntie Elle has both!"
"I don't have redbull!"
"Bottom shelf, love."
"Holy shit, where did all this come from?"
I hear Tony stand up from the couch and walk towards Peter. Loki is suddenly behind me with a hand on my lower back. I turn around as Tony hands Peter a small paper bag. Peter opens it and peers inside with a look of shock before taking out a Starkbucks cup.
"I have changed the rule so you may have one caffeinated drink from Starkbucks a month. This is your one." Tony explains as Peter looks like he's about to cry. "You don't need to continue to sneak things behind my back. If you're gonna drink coffee, I'd rather you do it in the house than on the streets of New York." Pete wraps his arms around his mentor and thanks him excessively for a single drink.
"You would think he just gave him license to drink alcohol." I mutter to Loki, who snickers and wraps his arms around me.
I pull away from him and stand in the doorway. "As much as I love having this very interesting exchange occur in my living room, I have a headache. Get out!"
Loki chuckles and Peter walks toward the elevator while Tony mumbles about how he's being kicked off a floor of his own building.
They haven't even reached the elevator when the doors open and Cap comes running out.
"Loki and Tony. Suit up. You're with me on this one."
"I wanna go!" Peter says loudly and all the adults say 'no' at the same time. He pouts and I wrap my arm around his shoulders, ushering him to the couch. Tony and Cap enter the elevator and Loki tells them he will meet them in the car.
I follow him to the bedroom. He is in a rush and is teleporting around the room because it's faster. I sit on the end of our bed and watch him pull on his armour. He pulls the breastplate over his head and starts to tug the leather straps together.
I know he is worried for me, I can see it. He's always worried when one of us leaves suddenly. Sometimes we wake up to someone knocking on our bedroom door, telling us it's time to go. Just part of the job.
I stand up and help him fasten the straps. He lets his hands run through my hair and slides to hold the back to my neck. I finish the clasps and he pulls me up to his lips, kissing me gently.
I pull away first, breathing heavily. "You have to go." I whisper, "We will be okay."
"I know. You always are."
"Be safe. Come home to me, yeah?"
"Always." And with that he leaves.
That's the last I hear from him or Tony or Steve in 6 days.
~~~~~~~~~~
*6:32 am*
The ringing of my phone cuts through my sleep like a knife. I groan and roll over to face Loki's side of the bed. Morgan was sleeping peacefully. I'm watching her while Tony is on the mission and Pepper had to make an emergency trip out of state.
I reach over to my bedside table and pick up my phone.
Steve.
"Hello?" I ask, voice groggy from sleep.
"Elle, you need to get to the hospital right now, please."
My heart stopped.
"Cap, what happened? Are you alright? Is Loki okay?"
"Noelle, take a breath. Everything will be fine. Just get here. We are at Lenox Hill."
The line goes dead.
I jump out of bed and rush to my dresser, pulling out a pair of jeans. I forget to be quiet and Morgan wakes up.
"Auntie Elle?"
"Sorry, honey. We gotta go on a little drive. Do you want to change or go in your jammies?" I tell her, turning on the light beside the bed.
"Where are we going?"
I pull on Loki's sweatshirt and help her out of bed. "To see daddy. Let me get your jacket, okay? That's it. Up we come. Where are your shoes?"
I get her ready to go and put her one of the cars Tony allows the Avengers to use. I drive the speed limit but only because I have little Morgan in the backseat. I text Tony and Steve when we get there and pick up Morgan.
We walk through the door and a nurse came to ask what the problem was. I told her I was here to see someone. Before I could answer who, Tony moves in and takes his daughter from my shaking arms.
"She's with us. Thank you, Nurse Carla." He winks at her.
Nurse Carla smiles at him and walks away.
Tony leads me through the halls, explaining the mission.
"We were sent Upstate to find the new Hydra basecamp. Everything was going smoothly, we had almost wrapped it up when three enhanced showed up in the field. One had similar powers to Wanda and paralyzed Cap and I, but she wasn't strong enough to get her hold around Loki. He engaged on his own and was able to incapacitate them but wasn't able to come out without any injuries. His wounds were extensive but are healing rapidly, probably due to the fact that he's basically a god. He has a cracked skull, 4 broken ribs, a fractured ulna, and a massive bruise on his right leg. He will be okay but he demanded that we call you before we went home. Something about not wanting Thor to freak out. Doctor Dorian say he will be out of here by noon at the rate his wounds are healing."
We have arrived at the room by now and stop in the doorway. There is a curtain shielding my view of Loki. I can see his boots from under it. Why the fuck is this dumbass sitting up?
He feels me. He's sitting up because he knows I'm here. He's reaching for me.
"Thanks." I mutter to Tony and walk in.
He is sitting up, waiting patiently with one hand on his thigh and the other in a sling. He has a few stitches in his forehead but the wound is healing nicely. His shirt is off and a bandage is wrapped around him over his right shoulder to under his left arm and down to the middle of his chest.
The second he sees me, he takes off the sling and throws it to the side. I don't even care right now, I know how fast he heals, but I'm more worried about getting my hands on him.
I wrap my arms around his shoulders and he buries his face in my neck, pulling me to stand between his legs.
"Hello, darling." He chuckles and I tighten my grip in a greeting.
I pull away from him to look him in the eyes, taking a small step back. I don't realize I'm crying until he brushes my tears away.
"Hey. Come now, love." His hand moves from my waist to the back of my neck and down my arm before taking my hand in his own. "No tears. It's alright, Noelle. I'm safe. It's all going to be fine." He brushes a lock of my hair behind my ear, letting his knuckles graze my cheek.
"Ask me again?" I say to him.
"What?" He mutters, looking taken aback.
"Ask me." I whisper.
His eyes light up in realization, his arm slips around my waist again. He pulls me flush against him.
"Noelle Elizabeth Tyrdottir, will you marry me?"
"Yes." I say. I hug him again and release the breath I didn't realize I was holding.
"About damn time!" He exclaims, making me laugh a little.
"There's a chapel here. Let's do it now, let's get it over with."
"Oh, gods no. I'm not dressed properly."
"I think you look damn good but alright, fine. Monday then. Put it in your calendar 'cause we have a date at the courthouse."
He laughs, and kisses my forehead.
"Will you please lay back now? You're making me worry."
"I'm fine, love. Really. I just ache and have a few bruises. It will be fine."
"Yet, when I come back with a black eye and wrapped ankle, you demand that I stay in bed for 3 days. Lay down."
He grumbles under his breath about how that’s different because I am only half Asgardian. I am more mortal than he is.
"Mr. Odinson, I need you to lay back please. Does your shoulder still ache?" A doctor with crazy brown hair comes in, "Oh, hello. I'm Doctor Dorian. You must be the wife?"
"Not yet,  she's not." Loki mutters under his breath as he slides back onto the bed. I go flick his ear but he catches my hand and pulls it to his mouth, kissing my wrist.
"I see. Well as long as you are family you can stay. I assume you are an Avenger as well? I have seen you before but I'm not sure where. I have also seen what this guy can do and I hear he packs quite a swing. And also daggers. You don't have daggers on you, do you?" Loki smirks,
"I don't really want to break you two up but..." Dr. Dorian is rambling and trails off as Loki wraps his good arm around me and pulls me to sit next to him on the bed.
"You could try to take her from me. See what happens if you do."
"You're being difficult." I tell him.
"I'm just proving a point."
"You need to relax. I'm not going anywhere."
"Damn right you aren't." He mumbles as Dr. Dorian picks up the sling that Loki flung across the room. I hold my hand out to take it since he looks nervous to come too close to Loki. He hands it to me as his pager goes off.
"I'll come back after I take care of this. Please don't strain yourself by doing something reckless." And he runs out.
I look at Loki, who is trying to hide a smile and is staring at the ceiling like there's something very interesting up there. He looks at me when I sit up and straddle him.
I pull the sling over his head and help slip his arm into it. He holds his other hand on my hip, keeping me in my place. He lowers his head to rest on my chest. I lean my head on top of his, breathing him in. We stay like this until we hear Dr. Dorian coming back. I quickly get off Loki and settle under his arm as Dr. Dorian comes through the curtain with a pretty blonde woman following him.
"Mr. Odinson, we need one more x-ray just to see if everything is healing correctly. If so, you're free to go! Fastest broken bone patient I've ever had. Oh, this is Dr. Reed, my colleague. She didn't believe that I had a patient who healed from injuries as major as yours in a mere few hours." He turns to her as Dr. Reed reads through Loki's chart. "So, Elliot. Pay up."
"I hate you so much right now." She says as she forks over twenty bucks.
"Thaaaank you!" He waves it around for a moment before shoving it in his pocket.
"Alright, Shirley and Barbie. Out. Leave this one alone. We do not bet on patients in front of them, it's not how we do things." A tall doctor with curly, light brown hair struts in with an ear-piercing whistle. "We wait till we are in the break room."
Loki starts laughing, catching everyone's attention. "I like him!" He says to me.
I roll my eyes and lean my head back on the pillows behind me.
"Also, I can't exactly have you on the bed with him. Normally I wouldn't care but I have people from the hospital board in to watch me today. My name is Doctor Cox, I'm the head doctor and I get to be in charge of these brainiacs behind me with their mouths hanging open." Dr. Dorian and Dr. Reed both shut their mouths simultaneously.
"I would love to get off the bed, Dr. Cox, but I'm kinda stuck. He isn't about to let me go and if I try, I'm afraid I'll make his wounds worse."
"Want me to sedate him so you can make your escape?" I laugh and Loki scowls.
"He's not of this Realm. Almost any medication you give him will burn off really quickly. I could teleport but that will just make him get up to drag me back."
"Hmm. Well I have to take him for an x-ray and you're not allowed to go with him so I'll let you talk amongst yourselves for a minute then I am," another loud whistle and a gesture to the door with his thumbs, "takin' him." He shepherds the other two out of the room and shuts the door behind him.
I look at Loki. "You gotta let me go. The x-ray barely takes ten minutes and Dr. Dorian said you can come home after. I will wait but you have to go without me."
"This is a terrible plan. I do not have to do anything these mortals tell me to do! I am a-"
"I swear to Odin, Loki, if you say that you are a god I will jab you in the ribs."
His eyes narrow, but he complies. "I don't see why you cannot accompany me."
"Because X-rays are taken with radiation so it would potentially affect me but you need one. Just go get it taken and I'll be waiting for you."
He sighs, "Fine. If you are not here, I will come looking for you, leaving a trail of bodies behind me."
I snort. "Of course you will. Please don't get Tony sued."
He chuckles and kisses my temple. At that moment, Dr. Cox comes back and takes Loki off in a wheelchair, even though he whines and complains about being able to walk the whole time. It takes Dr. Cox and myself ten minutes to get him to shut up and sit down but once he does, it only takes fifteen minutes for them to bring him back. Dr. Cox cleared him to go but commanded that he take it easy for a few days. I help him into his shirt, and we leave.
When we get back to the tower, Morgan attacks his legs and asks if he would watch Frozen with her again. He sighs as though it's somehow an inconvenience but agrees.
"But first, little Stark, I must go speak with your father. He has requested my presence and I'm not one to deny it to him." He smirks.
I roll my eyes and peel her off Loki's legs. "Come on, Baby Stark. We will get the movie ready and wait for Uncle Loki to get back from tormenting your daddy."
"Torment? Noelle, darling, do you think so little of me?"
"I do when you're in this mood."
"What mood?" He asks, eyes glinting with mischief.
"You know what I'm talking about. Go play with Tony, I will take this little monster and we will wait to watch the movie. I know how much you love it."
He rolls his eyes and walks off towards Tony's office. When he comes back, they watch Frozen and then colour in her new colouring book while I take down Christmas decorations.
Around dinner time, Peter arrives with pizza and Loki just attacks it.
"Thank the Norns you bought more than one." I whisper to him as we watch Loki finish the first one on his own. I whack his hand as he reaches for a piece of mine and Morgan's pizza. He glares at me and takes some of Peter's.
At about 5:15, Nat comes marching in, "Okay! Odinson and Tyrdottir, get out! Go to your apartment and don't come out. I assume you have the necessities for surviving through the night?"
Loki's eyes light up and he jumps up, grabs my hand, and pretty much runs to the elevator.
We stay in our room the rest of the night.
~~~~~~~~~~
I wake up to something tickling my ear. I wave at it to make it stop but it soon returns. I slowly realize as I grow more conscious that the tickling is my fiancè's lips moving down my ear, jaw, and neck. I lean back into him as he kisses my cheek.
"Good morning, love." He says, voice thick with sleep. Norns, I love that voice.
"Good morning." I whisper back and turn over to face him. I slide my arms around his neck and lean my forehead against his. He kisses my head, then my nose, then my lips. His movements are slow, probably because he just woke up and hasn't had any coffee.
"You had to think of coffee." He sighs as his right arm, which was around my waist, flops back. The right one had the fractured ulna but the X-ray said it was healed almost completely. It still aches but not much.
"You had to say it out loud? Now I need some." I counter and he smiles a little. I rest my head on my hand that's propped up by my elbow and look down at him. They took the stitches out before we left but he still has a small mark from where the cut was. I press my lips to the wound and he closes his eyes. I kiss down to his cheekbones and whisper in his ear, "You know what goes good with coffee?"
"Hmm?"
"Donuts." His eyes snap open. He stands up as fast as his injuries would allow and starts putting clothes on. I laugh and pick up his discarded shirt from the floor. Slipping it over my head, I grab a pair of leggings then tie the shirt up around my belly button.
Loki drags me out of the tower the second I finish tying my shoes. We walk to the donut shop just down the street hand in hand. He told me about the mission, I talked about what I did while he was gone. Basically we just catch up.
While we sit in the shop, eating our delectably decadent donuts, my phone buzzes. It's Tony.
"What is it?" Loki asks as he takes another bite.
"It's Tony. He wants to know if we are free later. He's having a little dinner party at the tower."
"I haven't got any plans. Do you?"
"You are supposed to be taking it easy."
"Look, I'm fine!" He raises his arms above his head to prove his point. "I beg of you, my angel, Noelle. Do not keep me cooped up all day."
He's so dramatic. "I guess if you're feeling better, we can go for a little while."
"Lovely." He smiles at me and pops a donut hole in his mouth.
I text Tony to tell him we will be there. The second I hit send, I start to think about it. "Wait a minute. Loki, you hate parties. Why the sudden urge to go?"
His face turns to stone and I can't read his emotions. Great. "Perhaps I just want to eat all of the Man of Iron's food. And to play with the little ones. I do like children, Noelle."
"You're avoiding the question." Then it hits me, "Does this have something to do with what you and Stark talked about yesterday?"
"I haven't a clue what you are talking about."
"Don't lie to me, I can always tell. You may be the God of Mischief and Lies but I know you better than the one who gave you that title."
"I gave myself part of that title."
"My point exactly." I pause, looking into his eyes. "What aren't you telling me?"
He sighs, looking at his food, then back at me. "Trust that it's a good thing and there is nothing to worry about. You will understand in time." His eyes are pleading. I believe him.
"Okay."
"Thank you."
"What time are we to be there?"
"Ask Stark, it is his party."
I laugh and text Tony as Loki stands up, holding my jacket out to me so I can slide my arms in. We walk back to the tower.
*5:45 pm*
"Alright, I'm ready. Are you good, Loki?"
"Yes." He comes around the corner and I see him in the mirror. He's in a green button up with black dress pants. No tie, jacket over his arm. "You look divine, darling." He takes three long strides and is behind me, hands on my hips.
"Thank you. It isn't too fancy is it?" I glance down at my purple dress. It is made of satin and has silver embellishments at the hem, stopping just above my knee.
"It's lovely. Let's go." He takes my hand and practically drags me out the door.
The elevator doors open as we reach Tony and Pepper's private duplex apartment. It is decorated with fairy lights across the ceiling and the balcony. There are tables decorated with white cloth and light purple flowers in pale green box vases. The white chairs have gold bows on the backs. Pep and Tony approach us as we walk in.
"Damn, Pep. You really know how to throw a party!"
"Well, when you work for this lunatic for 15 years, you tend to learn how to be a good event planner."
"I'd be offended but she would be correct." Tony drapes his arm around her shoulders and kisses her cheek. He then turns to Loki with a pointed look, "She is always right."
I laugh and Pepper smacks Tony's arm.
"Hey, gorgeous. You ready?" Nat struts over to me in her form-fitting black dress and red stilettos. She has a garment bag hanging over her shoulder. I cock an eyebrow at her and turn to Loki, who is crouching down to talk to Morgan.
"Ready for what?"
"I heard a little whisper about a courthouse wedding and I am not having that." Tony is grinning from ear to ear.
"I'm sorry, run that by me again? Are you telling me that this is my wedding?"
"And this is your wedding dress, now let's go!" Nat starts pulling my hand and Pep loops her arm through mine. I look back at Loki who is smirking at me. I suddenly get giddy and pretty much run up the stairs to Pepper and Tony's bedroom where the ladies help me get into the dress and work on my hair.
Loki clearly had a hand in the dress pick. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he made it while in Tony's office yesterday. It's almost a Midgardian take on an Asgardian wedding dress. It has a lace bodice, v-neck with thin beaded straps on my shoulders and flowy fabric off the shoulder. The rest of the skirt is flowy and light and reminds me of my dresses on Asgard.
Pepper hands me a black box tied with green and gold ribbon. Loki's name is in gold lettering in the corner. I cock an eyebrow at them- both women having a huge grin on their faces- and open the box. Nestled into the green silk is a gold circlet tiara with Asgardian crystal encrusted leaves and emerald droplets. I start to tear up, realizing what he is giving me. He's making me his queen.
Pepper curls my hair, pinning parts of it up and settles the crown into the curls. They decide that my makeup is good enough as it was from when I did it for the party and they announce that I'm ready.
We walk down the stairs and all the Avengers are there, quite the accomplishment actually. Loki stands next to Bucky at the front of the room, Thor standing just behind him looking like he's about to burst into tears. As I reach the bottom of the stairs, I see Tony waiting for me.
He smiles at me, offering me his arm. "How you feeling, hot stuff?
"Honestly, way more than I thought I would. I'm a little bit overwhelmed." I joke and take his arm.
He laughs and walks me down to Loki, who is just grinning like an idiot. Wanda stands on the other side of him. I reach him and Tony kisses my cheek before going to sit with his wife and daughter. Loki pulls my hands into his own. Bucky starts talking.
"Thank you all for coming. For those of you that don't know me," We all look at him, Loki snickers, "I'm not the biggest believer in real happy endings. But this isn't a therapy session. And you two are so great together, ya know?" He makes a noise and I glance at him. His eyes are slightly watery. He clears his throat and continues.  "It's like you were..." he sniffs, "made for each other."
"He's gonna cry." Wanda says with a smile.
"No, I'm not!" Buck automatically answers. Then from the back of the room, Steve starts playing his guitar. "I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!"
I grin at Loki. This is perfect. Bucky clears his throat again, "Noelle and Loki, when everyone sees you, they see true love." He pauses, "it's the best love." He rattles out, voice cracking. "Can we just, um, the rings or something?" He's trying not to cry. I want to hug my best friend, my best man, right there, the big baby.
Thor and Nat get out the rings and we take them from them. I look at Loki's ring. It's a black band with purple patterns carved in. "I don't know what to say." I whisper to him.
"All my thoughts are all jumbled, I'm not sure what to say either." He mutters back.
"You don't need vows, brother. Just say why you love each other!" Thor suggests.
"I'll go first." He takes my left hand in his, sliding the ring on. I take a moment to admire it. It is gold but doesn't connect like a normal ring. Instead it has two green emeralds on the ends. It looks like it's a vine wrapping around my finger. I start to get a little bit teary. "Noelle, darling. There are a million reasons why I love you. You make me laugh, you take care of me when I fall ill. You're sweet and caring and you make me pastries the way my mother used to when I was upset." I breathe out a laugh, "But the main reason I love you, Noelle, is you brighten my life, which was at one time a never ending black hole. You saved me, and most of all, you love me." I'm beaming at his words. His eyes are misty from the raw emotion he feels. He never thought he would get this moment.
"My turn." I say as I slip his ring on his own hand, "Loki, I love you because you're funny and you make me feel loved. You make me feel safe. You bought me a necklace for my first ball that has protected me ever since." I raise my hand to touch the necklace; I never take it off. "But the real reason I love you, Loki Odinson, is you make me happy. You make me more happy than you could possibly imagine."
My lover grins widely, letting a tear fall from his eye. I reach up to brush it away.
"LokidoyoutakeNoelletobeyourwifetohaveandtoholdfromthisdayforward-"
"Slow down, Buck."
"I can't! Foraslongasyoubothshalllive?"
"I do." I didn't know it was possible for my love to grow with just two simple words.
"NoelledoyoutskeLokitohaveandtoholdfromthisdayforwardforaslongasyoubothshalllive?"
"I do."
"Okay then!" He clears his throat one more time, "By the power vested in me by the very bitter, old man who works at the courthouse on Schermerhorn street, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
I snake my arms around his neck immediately and pull him down to me. He smirks against my lips and pulls me deeper, closer to him. There is applause around us but we don't stop for them. We stand there and kiss for a while before Tony says something that makes me laugh. I break away from him and keep one hand on his cheek as I pull Tony in to hug me. We hug everyone there (well, I do. Loki shakes hands and picks up Morgan so they can't hug him full on.)
Tony claps Loki on the back and asks Loki if he can hold onto Morgan for a bit while he goes to check on the caterers. Loki nods to him as Thor hands me a green bag with purple tissue paper. When we look inside, it's a bottle of Asgardian wine. I look at him for a moment before hugging him tightly, thanking him.
"Who wrapped this for you, Brother?" Loki asks him, patting his shoulder and pulling me away from him, an arm around my waist.
"Is it so hard to believe that I am skilled at making gifts look presentable?"
"A bit, yes."
Thor scowls and points to Morgan, who is still up in Loki's arms. She seems happy there. It's my favorite place to be so I completely understand.
"Look at you, gorgeous! You look just like your momma." I turn around to see James, my mom's boyfriend before she passed. I immediately jump into his arms and he laughs, stumbling back slightly. "You didn't think I would miss this did you? I'd never miss an event like this."
"Truth be told, James, I wasn't aware this was an event."
He laughs and lets me go to look at my face, "I was told not to say anything." He glances back at Loki.
I turn around too and glare at my husband teasingly. He smirks at me and turns his attention back to the child in his arms.
James leans down a little to whisper in my ear, "Is she yours?"
I smile, "No. She is Tony and Pepper's daughter. We are just her favorite Aunt and Uncle. Isn't that right, Morgan?" I squeeze her leg lovingly and she just nods. She's fascinated by the magic that Loki is doing for her.
"I see. Look, doll. You know I love you but I have to go. I'm really sorry, but I couldn't completely clear my schedule tonight."
"It's totally fine! The fact that you came at all means so much to me. Thank you, James." I hug him again. He holds on just as tight.
"I meant what I said, you know. You really do look just like her." And with that parting whisper, he shakes Loki's hand.
As I watch the man who loved my mother the way she deserved leave, I am struck by a brief moment of sadness. I wish she was here. Loki kisses my temple and whispers in my mind, 'She is here. They both are.' I nod and dab lightly at the tears that filled my eyes.
After around 20 more minutes of socializing with my family, Peter comes running up to me.
"Hey, Auntie Elle! There's a guy in the hallway. Mr. Bucky and Captain Rogers won't let him in but told me to come get you." I look back at Loki who looks as confused as I feel. He hands Morgan over to Pete and laces his fingers through mine.
We meet Buck and Steve in the doorway, who are standing there, shoulder to shoulder, looking menacingly at the man in the hall. I understand why the moment I see him.
"Tyr?"
"Hello, daughter."
There is a silence for a moment. Loki automatically goes into his protective defense mode and angles his body so I am slightly behind him as he moves to stand beside Bucky.
"What... why... how- how did you get here? How did you find out where I was?" I'm stumbling over my words in my shock. Why was my father here? I walk out of the door and into the hallway, Loki right behind me with Bucky and Steve flanking us. Loki tells Steve to close the doors.
"I am your father, child, you could not keep your marriage to a Prince from me."
My anger flares up. "So if I were to marry a Midgardian, you wouldn't be here? You're only here because I chose to marry the former Prince of Asgard?" Loki puts his other hand on my waist. 'We don't want to ruin that pretty dress, do we, love?' He whispers in my head.
"That is not what I meant."
"I know exactly what you meant."
"Daughter, listen to me-"
"Make me!"
"Darling-" Loki starts but I interrupt him.
"You don't give a shit about me, and you never have. Just go! I don't want you here."
"Daughter-"
"You can't even say my fucking name, Tyr. Say it! What is my name?"
"I know your name, child-"
"Then say it."
He looks at me for a moment, as though seeing if I'm being serious. "Noelle. You need to take a breath." He says.
I stare at him, the sound of my name falling from his mouth angering me. Loki immediately has me around the waist and behind Steve and Bucky.
"Look, Mister. I don't know who you are, and I don't care. You are distressing my best friend on her wedding day so I suggest you walk away before I throw you out the window." Bucky's tone is calm, conversational, but his words are aggressive.
"You stay out of this, boy. This is between my daughter and I."
"You mess with her, you face all of us." I hear from the other end of the corridor. The slightly robotic voice tells me that Tony heard my yelling and got in his suit to take care of it. "And I should warn you, hot shot. There's a lot of fire power behind that door." He raises his hand and his repulsors charge up.
My father raises his hands in defeat and disappears from where he stands. I automatically release a deep, shaky breath. Loki wraps his arms around me and rests his head on top of mine. I reach one hand out to Bucky, Steve, and Tony. "Thank you." I whisper.
Buck squeezes my hand and Steve strokes my hair once.
"Take a deep breath, Elle. Come back in so we can eat soon. It's still your party." Tony says to me and the three of them go back inside.
"Are you alright?" His voice is full of concern.
"I'm alright." I answer. I pull away to look at him and smile, raising my hand to cup his cheek. He leans into the contact and kisses my wrist, right above my tattoo of his symbol. "I love you, Loki."
"I love you, Angel." He pulls me into his chest again.
"Loki."
"Yes?"
"We are married."
I feel him grin, "Yes we are." He lifts me up and kisses me for a moment before putting me down again.
"Are you ready to go back in?" He asks. I take a deep breath and run my fingers through my hair a little before nodding.
We open the door and are met with applause. I grin and feel my cheeks heat up. Loki smiles and pulls me into a kiss, earning more cheers. He ends it first and sits me down at the table, sitting beside me. He intertwines our fingers and holds my hand under the table. After dinner, people start making speeches- Thor sobbing through his- and giving toasts.
Tony decides it's time to dance and, very graciously, plays a slow song for us first: For the Dancing and the Dreaming.
As Loki leads me to the makeshift dance floor, I ask him, "So, you're okay that I didn't change my last name?"
"Darling, believe me. I would change my name if I could."
"You can, Loki. That's a thing in Midgard. You can change your name. We should create a whole new last name!"
He smirks at me, "Loki and Noelle Allguardians."
"Loki and Noelle Skywalker."
"Loki and Noelle Fraser!"
"No, wait, I got it! Are you ready? It's pretty good, I don't know if you're prepared."
"Just tell me." He laughs.
"Loki and Noelle Friggason."
He pauses, thinking. I feel all the things he was feeling at that moment. He makes a decision.
"Loki and Noelle Friggason." He leans down to kiss me, which was met by whoops and cheers from our audience.
We pull back as the song ends and Tony, the silly man, turns on Criminal by Britney Spears. I start laughing hysterically and poor Loki just looks confused. Asgardian weddings are a calm, respectful affair the whole time. They don't have crazy receptions that play YMCA or do the stupid, creepy garter thing.
He glances at me and sees my smile, his face changing to amusement as Nat comes up behind me to dance. I turn around in Loki's arms and reach for Natasha, who gets closer to me and dances like the way we do when we go clubbing, Loki still holding my waist.
After Criminal, Tony let Peter pick a song, because he is a softy for his Spiderson, and that boy put on Baby Shark. The best part was all of us knew the dance and song because of little Morgan. We did change the words so that it's Baby Stark, but only because it made Morgan laugh and Tony flush.
After the Baby Stark song, Natasha thinks she's funny and plays Low-Key by Ally Brooke. That was an adventure in and of itself.
After that we had cupcakes because Stark pays more attention than I thought.
Loki and I sit on the couch after cupcakes, my legs in his lap, his fingers running along the soft fabric of my dress that covers my legs. Morgan sits on the other side of the couch with Peter, who watches her colour. Steve, Bucky, and Nat are sitting shoulder to shoulder opposite to us. Steve has his sketch pad in his lap and he keeps glancing at us, which tells me that he's drawing us. I don't mind, I'd love that memory. Nat and Buck, on either side of him, watch him sketch. Tony walks over to look over Steve's shoulder. He must have been done because Tony pats his shoulder and comes over to me and Loki. He has Loki and I sign the papers to make the marriage legally recognized by the state. It's official now. Afterward, he takes my hand and pulls me to the dance floor again. He plays a series of slower songs and he dances with me. I end up dancing with most of the Avengers: Tony, Steve, Bucky (twice; one slow, one fast), Thor, Peter, even Clint. It was really nice.
It isn't long before Loki claims me again. He dances with a few people (Pepper, Wanda, but mostly Morgan.) We dance to Taylor Swift's Lover, then Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. By the time the party dies down again, it's nearing two am.
"Alright! I have one more thing to give the newlyweds before we prepare for hangovers and go to sleep." Tony shouts over the small group around us.
"Tony, you gave us a wedding, we don't need anything else." I tell him.
He smirks at me, "You may not but it's more your him than you, dear."
I cock an eyebrow at him as he hands Loki a little box. He opens it and takes the key out, slightly confused.
"You didn't think I would let you spend your honeymoon in the tower, did you?"
I gasp loudly, realizing what he did. "That's not... you wouldn't. Tones, are you being for real?"
"I'm confused, what is this?"
"That, Reindeer Games, is the key to the house on my private island." I shriek and throw my arms around Tony's neck. He hugs me tight. "The copter is waiting on the roof. You have clothes there (not that you will need them). You have 3 days. You are to be back by New Year's Eve."
Tony let's me go and Loki pretty much drags me to the roof. He helps me into the helicopter and buckles into the seat next to mine. He brings my knuckles to his lips as we take off, mouthing 'I love you' through the noise.

Porcelain Doll - Lucifer & F!Reader
Anon: Hi, could you write a Lucifer x fem|reader fic please, were the girl is younger but they fell in love and then he later finds out that she struggles with a slight form of anorexia, not really a serious one but she sometimes not comfortable with eating however she's actually pretty thin and he tries to help her and he's worried.
Description: How is it that friends you've had for years not realize that something is wrong, but your boyfriend of three months does?
Rating: Teen Warnings: Anorexia, Eating Anxiety
AN: This fic is loosely based on my own personal events. For many, many years I've had difficulty with swallowing food wherever I was, except at home. I used it to my advantage to "lose weight", aka basically starving myself. All that led to was me having an awful stomach ulcer and little to no energy. Thanks to my mom, just last year I finally talked to my doctor about it and she gave me some pills to try. Apparently what I was suffering with was very common. Thanks to these pills I can finally eat out with my friends and family. Though I feel it may have made my depression worse, I'd rather have a few more bad days to being unable to eat. If this sounds like your situation, please talk to your doctor. They're meant to help you, and they won't judge you. AN: Updated August 23, 2020 - Grammar. Reupload!

"So, what's the plan for your 21st birthday girl?!" Your best friend Becky says across the table.
You, along with your group of friends, are eating at a diner not too far from your college. You've all just had a very successful rehearsal for the yearly college play extravaganza, and decided to celebrate with ice cream.
You pick at the straw in your milkshake, "I haven't really thought of anything."
"Oh please!" Jack exaggerates. He points his spoon at you, "There's no way you can't have nothing planned when you're dating that hunk!"
You shrug, "Really, I haven't thought of anything. I haven't had the time to think of a silly birthday with this play."
"A 21st birthday is not silly, it's important!" Jack complains.
"Seriously, Y/N. Tomorrow you'll finally be legal to raid that expensive bar whenever you want!" Becky sighs into her own milkshake, "An alcoholic's dream."
"Really, it's just a waste on her." Viv finishes her banana split, "You don't even drink heavily. I'll never understand why someone like him picked you."
You chuckle slightly. Neither will I.
You and Lucifer Morningstar first met back when you were a senior in high school. The circumstance wasn't ideal. One of the theater teachers was a creep that no one was willing to out. Then, that teacher set his eyes on you and you tore him up. The school's security sent you both to the LAPD station for questioning.
When you arrived you passed by Lucifer, eyes meeting. You remember him looking quizzically between you and the highly beaten up chubby guy next to you. You didn't see him again until after the police let you out of interrogation saying you were free to go [all thanks to your fellow classmates for finally speaking the truth].
Lucifer sat down next to you as you waited for your parents. He was highly impressed that someone of your lithe frame could take down a guy twice, maybe more, your size.
And since then you two have been in contact. The next time you were both face to face with each other was when he asked you to the local park three months ago and asked you out.
But since then, you two haven't spent too much time together. What with you being incredibly busy with this play and him with his club and LAPD job.
"Hellooo! Earth to Y/N!" Becky waved her hand in front of your face.
You blink, "What?"
"You're phone's buzzin'." You quickly dig through your purse and retrieve your phone.
"Speak of the Devil!" Becky laughs when she sees his name as the caller id.
You snort and hush your friends down before answering, "Hello?"
"Hello, darling! I hope I'm not interrupting your rehearsal." Lucifer's beautiful voice, that you love so much, reaches your ear.
"Oh no, you're not! We actually just finished about 15 minutes ago. I'm at a diner now with some friends."
"Lovely! I'll make this quick then so you can get back to socializing."
"I'd much rather listen to you." You whisper but Becky heard you anyways and punched your arm playfully.
Lucifer's laugh makes you smile warmly, "Well, if I remember correctly, tomorrow is your birthday yes?"
"Yup, it is." Your friends are all focused on you now.
"And it's the big 2-1 for you humans correct?"
"Ah, yes. The big adult number. Yup." You laugh.
"Then, if you have nothing planned, I'd like to take you out. Some dinner, then some wonderful dessert back at my place. How does that sound, love?"
Your face immediately heats up as various thoughts run through your mind. All your friends start wooing and giggling, "Y-yeah, no. I mean! No, I haven't planned anything. And that sounds lovely!" You stutter out.
"Wonderful! I'll pick you up around 6pm. Can't wait to see you again, my dear."
You smile, "Same to you, Lucifer. I'll see you then!" You hang up and are immediately bombarded with questions.
"Guys! Chill out!" You hush them down again, "Yes that was him and yes he's taking me out tomorrow for my birthday."
"Thank You oh mighty Lucifer!" Jack says as he and Viv bow their heads.
"Oh stop that!" You say.
"Where's he taking you?!" Becky asks excitedly.
"He just said dinner and...um…" your fierce blush returns.
"Oooh! My girl's finally gonna get laid!" Jack jumps up and down in his seat.
"Probably just a kiss. You know how she is." Viv replies.
"Well come on! Let's hurry back to the dorm! We gotta help you pick out an outfit!" Becky says and pushes everyone out of their seats.
You laugh, nervously.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Seriously?" The old waitress cleans up the table you and your friends were at five minutes prior.
"What is it now, Grace? No tip?" Another waiter comes around.
"No, they gave me a tip. I just don't understand why these youngins' nowadays waste money." She motions to your untouched small size milkshake.
"Maybe they weren’t hungry?" The waiter shrugs and walks away.
"That damn girl never eats." Grace murmurs under her breath as she cleans the table.
--------------------------------------------------------------
You're sitting on one of the comfy leather chairs in your dorm lobby. You sit properly in your sparkling dress, hands clenched together on top of your knee, and head held high. An acting technique you learned yourself to quiet the nerves.
You wish you could say you were nervous about the date. You suppose you are, in a way. But not the whole date. Not even about the possible "dessert".
No. You were nervous, maybe more terrified, of the upcoming dinner.
He's going to find out.
No he won't. If your friends of many years couldn't there's no way he will.
He's going to find out. He's going to find out and that'll be the end of it.
Please, you've seen the women on him in his club. He'll love it.
Yeah…
"There's my darling!"
You snap out of it and turn your head to see Lucifer, in a well pressed suit, walking through the entryway to you.
"Lucifer!" You have a genuine surprised smile on your face, momentarily forgetting the nerves, and rush over to him.
He chuckles as you two embrace and he kisses your cheek, "I thought you'd text me when you were outside!"
"And miss you looking positively powerful in that chair? Heaven forbid." He gives you his classic flirtatious smile, making you blush and laugh.
"Come along, darling!" He holds his arm out to you and you take it, "Let the celebration begin!"
--------------------------------------------------------------
Lucifer takes you to what has to be the most expensive restaurant in LA.
You're both led to a corner of the vast room. It's pretty dark, lit only by a single candle on the clothed table and a dim lamp on the wall. As you skim through the menu looking for the cheapest, and smallest, meal possible, Lucifer interrupts your searching when he orders an appetizer.
He chuckles slightly at your raised brows, "Yes, I suppose I should have asked you first, but this dish is delectable darling. You'll love it! Plus, it's cut in shared pieces."
You smile back and hope the dim lighting hid your gulp.
The waiter comes back with the large shared appetizer and asks what you two would like for the main course.
Lucifer stops you again before you can answer, "If you don't mind, my dear, I'd love to get this meal here." He points to an item on your menu, and it happened to be the one thing you avoided eye contact with. It's a fairly large dish with various slices of steak and vegetables. In the small print of the description it says that this dish is suggested for parties.
"It happens to be one of their best, and since this is your 21st birthday I believe you deserve the largest and tastiest item here!" Lucifer smiles brightly at you, teeth and all.
You clutch the menu to not show your shaking body. You give him a small smile back, "Oh Lucifer, you know I don't consider myself as one of those people who think they deserve the best of everything."
"Of course and that's one of the many reasons I adore you, but darling," he leans in slightly. His hypnotic eyes and smile are lite beautifully by the candle, "You're the Devil's partner now. You deserve, and will always get the best."
You swallow again, but not from nerves. This time it was completely heat based.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The dinner went surprisingly...well!
Lucifer never questioned about your slow eating. Never pushed more food on you. Instead, he made you feel extremely comfortable. He told the waiter to not come back unless he holds his hand up, and you noticed the other tables around you haven't been filled with people.
It was just you and Lucifer, pretty much. Enjoying some amazing food and having wonderful conversations. You felt so at home you ate more than you probably did since...well, freshman year of high school.
Him seeming to work so hard to make you comfortable did make you wonder though…
Currently, you are sitting on Lucifer's stupidly comfortable Italian sofa, watching some mind numbing television. You still wore your dress, but now you had Lucifer's suit jacket over top and shoes off.
"Happy Birthday to you…" You could hear Lucifer's voice faintly coming from his back kitchen. You stretch your neck to look in that direction.
"Happy Birthday to you!" Lucifer comes around the corner. He's carrying a serving tray that holds two wine glasses, a bottle of wine, and a cute little cake.
"Happy Birthday, my darling Y/N!" He sets the tray down in front of you on the coffee table and sits next to you.
"Happy Birthday to you!" He smiles lovingly at you, and your heart is about ready to explode. You give him a hug along with a kiss on his forehead, nose, and cheeks before blowing out your candles.
"What did you wish for, darling?" He asks. You curl into his open arms.
"Can't say, Lucifer. Otherwise it won't come true."
He huffs, but kisses your head, "Silly humans and their superstitions." You both enjoy the comfortable silence before he speaks again.
"Care for a bite, darling? Made it myself this morning."
"Umm…" you froze. Your mind became increasingly aware with just how much food you ate today, "Maybe in the morning. I'm pretty full right now."
Lucifer just hums in response, and that just makes your suspicion about tonight grow.
You lift yourself up, still in his arms but far enough away to look him in the eyes correctly, "Lucifer...I have a question."
He just hums again.
"Do you...um," you swallow and feel the color of embarrassment rise on your cheeks, "Do you...know?"
He hums again before answering, "In part." You instantly deflate and go to move away from him, but he pulls you back just as quick. His hand runs through your hair in a calming motion, "It's nothing to be ashamed about, Y/N."
"How did you figure it out? My friends haven't even realized it."
"Well, when I saw you look just the same after so many years it worried me. Typically I hear from young women the dreaded 'after school 20'. It seems that phase has passed you, dear."
You sigh, "Yeah well, I can't remember exactly when or how it happened, but sometime in sophomore year I started having trouble with eating in a public setting. I couldn't even eat over at friends' homes. Only in my own." You curl your legs up to hold them. Lucifer continues to stroke your hair, "And then I met you and...well…I figured I wouldn't tell anyone and just deal with it. I was a chubby kid, and I was amazed with how much weight I lost so fast."
"Well, I am quite upset to hear that you thought I'd be ok with you starving yourself." Lucifer frowns and you look surprised at him.
"But...a lot of women who are all over you look like me, even less! And you're all over them! I thought-"
"I'm into human women, darling. Not porcelain dolls."
You look away from him. Tears brim your vision, "So, what? Are you disgusted with me now? Or did you just ask me out out of pity?"
"If I was disgusted by you I wouldn't have asked you to be mine, and I don't do pity, darling." Lucifer hears you sniffle.
"My darling Y/N," Lucifer Morningstar becomes incredibly soft. He gently brings his hands to your face and nudges you to look at him, "I've come to care deeply about you, love. And I don't enjoy seeing someone I care that much about in turmoil." He wipes your tears away.
"Allow me to help, darling. You keep going like this...I'm afraid I'll have you for even less time."
You stare into his eyes and can see nothing but truth. Your hands move to hold his face gently. Rubbing his stubble, you slowly bring your face closer. Closing your eyes you and him kiss. Soft, sweet, filled with an unspoken love and promise.
"Ok, Lucifer. Please, help me."

A Little Caught Up- V (Finale)
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Word Count- 3k
Black reader x OT7
Angst with a hint of fluff
Part I - Part II - Part III - Part IV
After spending a couple of days in the dorms with the boys and YoungMi (of course Namjoon begging you to stay so he can have quality time with his daughter) you were happy to see that he was forming a bond with her. Like any baby she cried during the night every few hours in which you had to get up and feed her and Namjoon would get up to change her diaper after you showed him how to do it multiple times and to your surprise, he was actually pretty good at it. You couldn’t lie to yourself, it was weird, all of it was, having a baby by Kim Namjoon of BTS and sleeping in the same room as him even though he said he’d sleep on the floor if you made you more comfortable but you opted for the couch after cleaning the living room area. The boys didn’t mind either, they all grew to love YoungMi and were content with staring at her even when she was asleep because she was adorable. You and Namjoon didn't talk much unless it had to do with the baby, which was also awkward at times. You weren’t gonna lie, it sucked not actually being in a relationship with the father of your child but you also knew the position he was in with even having a child. Of course it bothers you that you two were so careless that night but you would never regret your baby girl. She was everything and more you could’ve ever wanted. She was perfect.
Folding up your blanket, or rather Namjoon’s blanket that he let you borrow and grabbing the pillow he gave to you, you carried everything into his room and set it on the end of the bed as you did every morning. You were sure to be quiet since everyone was still asleep. Scooping up MiMi from her slumber, carefully, you carried her out of the room and into the kitchen area to feed her a cereal bottle while preparing yourself something to eat. Sitting at the kitchen table, you looked down at her as she stared back up at you with her deep set eyes, sucking away on the bottle. You smirked and kissed her forehead and quickly glanced up when you heard shuffling footsteps coming towards the kitchen. Namjoon trudged towards the counter and began setting up the coffee pot which meant everyone else would be up soon. You two stared at each other for a few seconds before he leaned down in front of you to kiss MiMi on the forehead and then sat in the chair across from you and rubbed his eyes while yawning. You never knew what to say in these moments since you were staying there. What could you say? Sorry for getting pregnant with your child and not talking to you even though you ghosted me and now I’m here in South Korea wanting you to meet her now?
He broke the silence first with a heavy sigh and cleared his throat. “Good morning...did you sleep okay?” He asked. It was the first question he’s asked that didn’t have to do with the baby. You nodded and looked down, removing the bottle and placing your daughter on your shoulder and began patting her back. “I slept fine. Thanks.” You mumbled. He then stood up and grabbed two coffee mugs and filled them with coffee from the pot once it was done and glanced over his shoulder at you. “Sugar? Cream?” He asked. “Two scoops of sugar and a little bit of cream. Thanks.” You replied and once MiMi burped, you carried her into the living room and laid her down on the couch since she slept for a little longer after her morning bottle. Walking back into the kitchen while fixing the pineapple of hair on top of your head, you grabbed the mug from him and sat back down at the table, taking a sip and began making yourself a bowl of cereal. “I wanted to talk to you actually, Y/N, about coming with me somewhere today with the baby. It’s important actually.” He blurted out. Where did he want to go with you today? They all had to go to the studio for rehearsals since their comeback was a few months away. “Where are we going?” You asked, taking a few scoops of cereal and shoveling it into your mouth. He placed his hands on the table, folding them together. “I’ve spoken to Bang PD about the situation going on and he wants to meet with us, both of us to figure out the best solution for all of us. I know I haven’t been too welcoming the past few days but I do hope you’ll come please.” He explained. You knew that was coming but today?!
After cleaning up and changing Mi into an outfit and feeding her again, you managed to shower and get dressed in half an hour, fluffing out your curls and checking over your outfit which consisted of a white shirt, blue jeans and red Converse. Y/N placed Mi into her carseat while Namjoon was getting ready in his room now. So many things were going through your mind about what could happen at this meeting. What if he didn’t like you? What if Mr. Bang made you go back home with YoungMi and tries to pay you off without ever getting in contact with Namjoon or any of the boys again? Rubbing your lips together, you sighed and looked down at your daughter. Only 3 months old and having no idea of what’s going on in the world at all. She needed to know her father and the people around him. You couldn’t and you wouldn’t take that from her ever.
The boys were quickly making their way out into the living room, late for practice and rushing to the front door to slip on their sneakers. Each one waved to you or said bye and you waved back. Jimin on the other hand, quickly ran over to you and wrapped an arm around your shoulder. “Don’t worry. Everything will be okay. Okay?” He smiled and you couldn’t help but return the smile and nodded. “Okay. Go, you’re gonna be late.” He nudged him and watched him leave the dorm. As the door closed, Namjoon made his way out of the room, wearing a black tracksuit that was oversized and a black baseball cap to match. You’d be lying if you said he wasn’t attractive right now. His hair was a beautiful blonde color that you wanted to run your fingers through while he spoke to you about his latest deep thoughts. Looking away before he could catch you practically drooling over him, you placed her phone in the diaper bag ang and situated your daughter before pulling the hood over the carseat and placing a blanket over top of it to keep the sunlight out of her eyes.
“Ready? The driver’s waiting.” Namjoon asked, grabbing the carseat from you and making his way over to the door. You picked up the diaper bag and your purse and quickly followed behind.
The ride there didn’t take long, since it was in the same building that they held dance practice in. The building was big, one of the biggest you’ve ever seen and you couldn’t help but stare up at it as you made you way inside, discreetly of course. The three of you, plus two guards had to go through the back in case someone saw you and when you walked inside it looked like a typical building except for the word ‘Big Hit’ being on the wall. You managed to tie your hair up into a puff at the top of your head in the car before you made it to the building since the heat was too much, especially for your having your hair in your face. Making your way onto the elevator, the guards long gone, you fiddled with your fingers while stealing glances of Namjoon every once in a while until you made it to the right floor of Bang PD. Now your heart was pumping and fast. Everything was happening so fast.
His office was big, personalized for him of course with a few plants and pictures of the boys throughout the years on the wall along with the members of TXT as well. “I’ll just set her in the chair between us.” He carefully set the carseat down and removed the blanket and pushed back the hood to reveal a sleeping YoungMi. You smiled down at her and Namjoon watched you until you looked up at him and he looked away, his eyes quickly moving to the door when he heard it open. What the hell do I even say to him?
He looked exactly like he did on Youtube videos and pictures, friendly and smiling. He smiled at you and all the weight you had on your shoulders lifted and you smiled back, standing up when he outstretched his hand. You quickly bowed your head and introduced yourself. “Please, have a seat. Is this the baby? YoungMi?” He asked, peeking into the carseat and already gushing over her adorable pouty sleeping face. He moved across from the both of you and placed a thick folder on the table, in which your eyes couldn’t move away from. What was in there?
Before he started, the door opened and in came the members one by one, taking a seat at the table as well. They looked just as confused as you did, her eyebrows stitched together before returning to Namjoon who seemed to be sharing the same expression.
Mr. Bang folded his hands together and sighed heavily. “You all must be wondering why you’re here, but you’re all aware of the situation at hand with Namjoon and Y/N-ssi. We are weeks away from your upcoming performances and this is unfortunately an inconvenience to us all…” His eyes went to Namjoon and he shook his head. “You are the leader of this group and therefore you are to set an example for this men so you all can go down the right path, but you weren’t thinking about that when you made a careless mistake based on lust and a one night stand.” You blankly stared at the table, keeping her fists clenched in your lap as you felt not only insulted but offended in any way possible. Did you have to even listen to this?
Namjoon’s face hardened, his jaw clenched and a distant look in his eyes as he was being scolded. “Your actions have affected this group and if one messes up, the rest have to follow suit which is why I’ve called all of you here. This will be quick and to the point, no arguments, no working things out with what I am going to tell you all. You can talk about it after this meeting is over, everything is already set in stone and I’ve even contacted your families as well.” He began opening the folder and everyone seemed to have leaned in, curious about what was happening now.
Everything was your fault, you were reckless, you let him blind you and now you were responsible for what was going to happen to the boys and even Namjoon. What if you cost them their careers? What if he sent you back home with YoungMi and made you lose contact with everyone, including her father? What about your career? You had finished an online school of course but when you came here, it was supposed to be for a few weeks before you would go back and start your job as an esthetician.
He pulled out a form...a wedding certificate and looked between you and Namjoon and it felt like the world stopped shifting. A contract? Namjoon’s eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head. “I’ve checked your background, Ms. Y/L/N and you’ve accomplished a lot, no criminal history or write ups in America, you live alone as well so this will be easier said than done. You two are to be married, by the end of the week. I will send someone to pack up your things Y/N in your apartment in California and ship them here. Namjoon, you will be moved out of the dorms and there is a residence in which you and Y/N will reside in with your daughter YoungMi as well. This arrangement has been set in stone. I’ve called your family and they are aware of what’s going on. If you want to remain in this company and in this group then you will take this contract and do right by it. This can’t get out to the public unless it is sealed. Do you understand? Namjoon? Y/N?” He asked.
You didn’t know what to say, but married?! Yeah you and your friends joked about who you would marry in BTS but it was with the intention that it would never actually happen and now it is, under the worst circumstances. Without thinking you wiped your cheek quickly, a tear escaping your eye. You were still young, you didn’t know Namjoon outside of BTS and now you had no choice but to be with him. You couldn’t ruin his life anymore than what it was. What if he had a secret girlfriend? What if you two didn’t get along once you were moved in together? While you pondered this, Mr. Bang spoke to the boys, you couldn’t understand what he was saying but you figured he was explaining the situation and as you looked at each person’s face, you could see the pity in their eyes. There was no way you would even turn to look at Namjoon but you could feel him burning a hole into the side of your face with his glare. Great.
“As for you boys, because of this arranged marriage, each of you will have to follow suit. All for one and one for all, right? In a month’s time, you will have wives, you will all be moved out of the shared dorm and into your own apartments. You’ll all share the same building of course since we can’t risk the exposure. I’m sorry it has to be this way but we will work according to your schedule. You will continue to have your rehearsals and performances, the arrangements will be sent to me along with your wives. If someone has a disagreement then this company will fall with the reputation you have as a group and as people.” You didn’t know what was being said but from the look on the members faces, you knew it wasn’t good.
He dismissed you all and you blinked rapidly, standing up without saying a word, tears spilling down your cheeks. Their eyes are on you and you could tell, everything was ruined. Grabbing your bag and the diaper bag, you picked up the carseat and quickly made your way out of the room and glanced around, trying to find the nearest exit. You didn’t want to see any of their faces right now. Making your way to the elevator, you walked in and saw them walking out, arguing with each other before Jimin was the one that noticed you and ran to catch the elevator before it closed. He pressed a button and let the door close before turning to face you.
“This isn’t your fault, you know? Namjoon-ah has to take responsibility too and none of us wanted this for ourselves.” He shifted back and forth on his feet. You couldn’t speak in fear of letting out a sob and he sighed. Once the door opened and revealed a break room, you followed behind him and sat down at the nearest table, placing the carseat on the ground and unstrapping MiMi as she began to wake up, you picked her up and stood up after grabbing a bottle from the diaper bag to feed her. It wasn’t long until you could hear the elevator doors again and Namjoon storming in, everyone else filing in behind as stalked up to you and sighed.
“We need to talk, now.” His voice was stern, you nodded and before you could say anything, Jimin took the bottle and the baby from you, resuming her feeding while Namjoon, ever so gently, grabbed your wrist and pulled you behind a door and closed it behind him.
He paced back and forth, before placing his hands in his pockets and turning to look at you. “Is this what you wanted? It’s not what I wanted for myself and I’m sure it’s not something that they wanted and I know part of it is my fault as well. We’re going to go and get everything verified tomorrow morning and when we move in together there will be three bedrooms so..you can have your own room and I’ll have mine. YoungMi will have her own as well, I saw the apartment, it’s big enough so I can still have my space and you can have yours. We won’t sleep in the same room, I have to focus on the comebacks and-” You cut him off. “First of all, no, it’s not what I wanted and before you continue I’m going to explain something to you. You. Will. Not. Blame. Me. For any of this. I don’t like what’s happening either and I know they’ll hate me…” Your voice cracked and you looked away, trying to hold back tears.
“You have fans and I know how they’ll feel, I’m a fan too and I don’t know how this is going to go or when it will all be out for everyone to know, the only thing I ask from you is to be a father to our daughter. You don’t have to love me or even like me but you will respect me, I’ve given you the same since I’ve been here. I’m not going to bother you or interrupt your studio sessions or rehearsals. I still have to find a job while I’m here, that’s pressure enough.” Clearing your throat, you sighed. “Don’t worry about me being in your way, now I can see the kind of person you are, Kim Namjoon.” With that, you opened the door, seeing the other members standing around the door, clearly they were listening and looked down after they saw your face.
“I’m sorry I did this to you, to all of you. I didn’t think it would happen this way and there’s not enough apologies in the world that will fix this. Excuse me. “ You moved past them, taking your daughter from Jimin and placing her back in her carseat and grabbing your things. You had to go somewhere, anywhere but here. You only knew the dorms so once you got to the main floor you asked for the driver to take you back there. This was all too much. You’d have to figure it all out after tomorrow, which would seal the deal.
// Thank you guys so much for reading! Obviously this was my first story and it will be linked with another series I have in the makings so if you liked this then you’ll love the next one. Also, feel free to ask any questions you would like me to answer or any suggestions about what kind of content you guys would like to see. I’d love to interact with everyone on here.

Ice Cream and Grass Stains (Bucky x Reader)
Requested - #15 from My Avengers Prompt List
Person A: This isn’t how I imagined saying this but… take all your clothes off. – With Bucky, for the two anons who requested it.
Warnings - Violence, Gore, Swearing and Really Bad Flirting...
Ice Cream and Grass Stains
When The Black Widow tracked you down and dragged your ass back to the Avengers compound, you’d really thought she was arresting you. She had jumped you in the middle of a heist after all, but she knew more than you thought she did. She’d known you were stealing classified files from a Hydra Agent and she presented those files and you to the team and recommended you join them. And the rest was history.
That had been three months ago.
Now, you were a fledgling hero on her first team mission. You had hoped for something easy, like taking down a base in the middle of nowhere. Not a knock down, free for all, fight to the death with aliens in the middle of Chicago.
 “Newbie, Falcon needs help getting civilians to safety, three block south of you.” Clint said in your ear, through the comm unit.
 “On it.” You said, running towards where you’d been instructed.
 You saw Sam pulling a group of people out of a café and pointing them towards the safety of the police blockade.
 “Little bird, big bird said you needed a hand?” You said as you jogged up to him.
 “Yeah, get these people to safety. I need to get back up there.” Sam told you, clasping you on the shoulder and making sure you were ok with it.
 “Fly away my friend, I’ve got it from here.” You assured.
 He gave you a toothy grin and took off.
 “Folks, if you’ll follow me?” You asked politely, trying not to show them how nervous you were.
 They dutifully followed you until you handed them off to the police officers who’d set up a perimeter around the battle.
 “Civvies are A-Ok, where to next, eye in the sky?” You asked Clint.
 “Barnes has been cornered in an office block not far from you. He says he’s fine but just tell him you got lost and needed his help to find your way back to the rest of the team.” Clint suggested.
 You bit back a snort of laughter at the fact Clint had Cheat Codes for dealing with The Winter Soldier and let him direct you to the office building.
 Bucky was on the fourth floor and he was decidedly NOT fine. He was fighting off twelve of the outer space bad guys with a pocket knife. Though to be fair to him, he was holding them back and looking unfairly hot whilst doing so. You sprung onto the backs of one of the aliens before they could even notice you were in the room and used your own knife to slice it across the throat, landing in a crouch when it fell dead.
 You spun around in the crouch, slicing through the calves of a second alien and angling your knife so it impaled its own skull on the blade as it fell. Out of the corner of your eyes you saw him take down three of them in rapid succession.
 “What are you doing here?” He snarled while he broke the neck of another with a sickeningly satisfying crunch.
 “Helping?” You offered, ducking under the swing of one of the extra-terrestrials coming at you.
 “Get out of here, go find the others.” He commanded.
 “But…”
 “Get out!” He shouted, kicking one of the ones coming after you in the ribs.
 You ignored him and tackled an alien round the middle of it’s long body, piledriving it to the ground and stabbing it through the eye socket. One of it’s friends grabbed your shoulder, fingernails piercing your skin. You hissed in pain as it bodily picked you up and flung you a good twelve feet across the room. You smashed into the wall, cracking the plaster and landing on the floor with a thump.
 You were seriously winded and it took you nearly a full minute to stand up. There was a horrific burning pain across your back and you saw the sharp jagged edge of a piece of metal on the wall. You must have caught your back on it, which explained why you felt so very dizzy and weak.
  Bucky saw your body sail past him and heard the impact it made with the wall and he snapped. Red clouded his vision and he tore through the remaining aliens viciously, destroying them before they could even think about going after you while you were vulnerable. When the last one died under his metal grip he whipped his head around to look at where you were landed and he felt relief flood his system when he saw you standing upright and looking sheepish.
 “Are you ok?” You called over to him tentatively.
 “Unlike you, I can take care of myself. Unlike you, I can heal on the off chance I actually do get hurt. I don’t need a pathetic, unskilled, wannabe hero to jump in and save me. You just ended up getting on the way and I had to save your ass.” He snarled.
 “Sorry.” You mumbled.
 “What, no snappy comeback? No witty one-liners?” He snapped.
 “Not today.” You said, hanging your head low.
 “Are… are you crying?” he asked derisively, noticing the sheen in your eyes.
 “You know what? I am. Because I’m bleeding to death over here and you STILL have to take the time to make me feel two inches tall.” You choked out.
 He rolled his eyes at you and stomped over, pulling the tact suit away from your injured shoulder.
 “It’s barely bleeding. You’re fine.” He told you, his eyes widening when he was the smear of blood on the wall and the puddle of the thick red liquid pooling at your feet.
 He cautiously leaned over to look at you back and let out a sharp intake of breath when he saw the large gash from your right shoulder to your left hip. It was deep and ragged, bleeding heavily.
 “Shit!” He swore, springing into action.
 “I need a med evac on the south side of the west building here.” He said into the comms, ripping his own jacket off and trying to use it to stem the bleeding.
 “Damnit. Ok kid, they’re coming but it’s going to be a while. I can’t move you, I’ll tear up your wounds worse.” He told you.
 You mumbled something in reply, swaying slightly.
 “Whoa, stay with me. I need you to watch my six while I’m cleaning up this mess.” He joked, gesturing to your back.
 “m’kay.” You muttered.
 “This isn’t how I imagined saying this but… take all your clothes off.” He instructed, getting up to search the room for anything that could be even remotely classed as medical supplies.
 He heard you fumble with the zipper of your tact suit as he tore through desk drawers, until he lucked out and found a first-aid kit with sterile wipes and a suturing kit. He also found a half-empty bottle of vodka. When he turned back to you, you were wincing in pain and trying to pull off the tact suit without moving.
 “I’ve got you.” He said softly, grabbing a hold of you.
 You were losing more blood than he had initially realised. He shoved stuff off of a desk and picked you up, gently laying you down on your front on the desk.
 “Sorry about this doll.” He apologised, using one of his many knives to cut the tact suit off your back.
 “How did you imagine it?” You asked him weakly.
 “Imagine what?” He replied, using someone’s discarded scarf to mop up as much of the blood as he could.
 “You said, you imagined it differently. Telling me to take my clothes off.” You told him and he briefly faltered in his actions.
 He hadn’t even realised he’d said that. He’d been distracted by your injuries, it must have slipped out.
 “Sorry.” He apologised, wiping his hands with a sterile wipe before gently probing at the edges of the gash.
 “Tell me…” You pushed.
  He sighed wearily and let out a self-deprecating laugh.
 “You’re not gonna let me live this down, are you?” He asked.
 “Well you’ll probably get lucky and I’ll die before I have the chance to tell anyone.” You laughed softly.
 “You’re not going to fucking die. That’s an order, do you understand me?” He commanded.
 “This isn’t how I imagined saying this but… Whatever you want, Sergeant.” You said cheekily.
 He laughed at your wit, even in the throes of agony.
 “I can stitch this up, there’s enough supplies but I need to clean it first and I’m sorry, but it’s going to hurt.” He apologised, holding the bottle of vodka.
 “Gimme.” You demanded, gesturing to it and he sighed, but opened it and handed it to you.
 You managed to angle your head to the side and take several long gulps before handing it back to him. Before you could think about what he was going to do, he poured the alcohol directly over the gash.
 “MOTHERFUCKING FUCKER! FUCK YOU BARNES!” You screamed and he had to pin you down to stop you from thrashing.
 “Sorry.” He winced.
 “Don’t apologise you absolute wanker, I’m going to give you something to actually be sorry about. As soon as I can stand up.” You vowed.
 “I believe you sweetheart.”
 Oh so now I’m your sweetheart? Few minutes ago I was a thorn in your side.” You scoffed.
 He swallowed thickly, guilt seeping through his bones at the harsh words he’d spat in your face.
 “I was angry. I didn’t mean to make you upset.” He said, threading the needle and pinching the edges of the gaping wound together.
 “Well, fuck that hurts, I forgive you. Especially since now I know it was mostly just your pent up sexual frustration.” You said.
 “We’re back to that huh?” He sighed.
 “I wanna know how you imagined it.” You pushed.
 “It starts with me finally working up the nerve to ask you to let me take you out.” He admitted.
 “And if I said yes? How would it have gone?” You asked him.
 “I would have picked you up at your door and given you flowers, the one’s you always stop and look at through the window in the grounds. We would take my bike, you’d have to sit behind me and wrap your arms around me.” He chuckled.
 “And where we would we go?”
 “Somewhere quiet, where nobody else was. I would have said a picnic but I know you, I’d just take you to the fucking McDonalds drive through because you’re a cheap date.” He scoffed and you tried to hold yourself still while you laughed.
 “I’d get a McFlurry right?” You checked.
 “With an apple pie to smoosh into it.” He confirmed.
 “That sounds good right about now. So then what?” You asked, biting down on your lip when he got to the widest part of the wound.
 “I’d take you to the park, and I’d lay my jacket on the ground for you to sit on. You always look so fucking beautiful in the moonlight you know?”
 “I didn’t know actually.” You giggled.
 “Stars have got nothin on you sweetheart, surprised they don’t just stop shining altogether.” He said, his old Brooklyn accent coming through.
 You let out a low, impressed whistle.
 “You’ve got lines Barnes.” You teased him.
 “And I’d pull them all out on our date, I’d make an ass of myself trying to impress you.” He laughed.
 “I’d think it was cute.” You assured him.
 “Yeah, you would. Eventually you’d get tired of it though and you’d kiss me just to get me to shut up.” He revealed.
 “Devious plan, I like it.” You sniggered.
 “I’d kiss you till you couldn’t think straight doll, then I’d keep kissing you. I think once I started, I wouldn’t be able to stop.” He admitted.
 “And when I was all dumbed out from your kisses, then you’d tell me to take all my clothes off?” You whispered.
 “You know me too well.” He confirmed.
 “Bucky?”
 “Yeah, sweetheart?”
 “I can’t believe you wanna fuck me in a public park, I didn’t figure you for such a pervert.” You said and his shoulders shook with the force of his laughter.
 “Couldn’t even spring for a motel room huh?” You continued and he had to stop stitching for a second he was laughing so hard.
 “You want The Ritz doll? I’ll get us The Ritz.” He asked, continuing with his task of sewing your back together.
 “Nah, I want Ice cream and grass stains.” You told him sleepily.
 He chewed his bottom lip anxiously as he tried to figure out if you were humouring him, or if he might actually stand a chance. He would have never have admitted any of this if he hadn’t accidentally blurted it out and needed to distract you from the pain.
 “So Doc, I’m I gonna live? My Sergeant says I gotta and I hate to disobey an order.” You asked.
 “You’re going to be just fine. Banner and Cho can fix this in no time, you’ll be up and about in a couple of days.” He promised.
 “Good, good. I’ve got a date this weekend.” You sighed.
 His heart panged painfully in his chest. You had a date… So you were only humouring him. You probably thought he was joking around, trying to keep you amused while he stitched you up.
 “Anyone I know?” He asked with a false cheeriness.
 “Yeah actually. Sam finally got it together and asked me out.” You told him.
 “Sam? Sam Wilson? Sam Wilson the Falcon?” He stuttered.
 “That’s the one, not sure if he has anymore nicknames though. I’ll let you know once I’ve seen him naked if there’s anymore we can add to the list.” You joked as he pulled the final stitch through your skin.
 He felt physically ill at the idea of you and Sam, never mind you and Sam naked. Of course someone else would have asked you out though, you were beautiful and funny and brave. Even if he had moved faster, you would have probably turned him down, he wasn’t
 “You do know I’m joking right?” You interrupted his internal takedown of himself.
 “Oh. So it’s not Sam?” He said, almost relieved.
 But if it wasn’t Sam, it was still someone else.
 “Bucky…”
 “Yeah?” He said softly.
 “Ask me out you fucking idiot.” You commanded.
 “What?” He said, choking on his own saliva and scooting back from the desk so he could see your face.
 “I told you, I want ice cream and grass stains.” You said, smiling at him softly with so much fondness in your eyes it literally took his breath away.
 “Me, you want to go on a date with me?” He checked.
 “Unless you didn’t mean it? Oh god, you didn’t mean it. Ugh, I’m such an idiot.” You groaned, burying your face in your arms.
 “I meant it!” He exclaimed loudly.
 You peered up at him with a mischievous, cocky grin and he huffed out a laugh as he realized you’d played him.
 “Sweetheart, will you let this idiot take you out?” He asked, grinning.
 “Hmm, I’ll have to check my diary… make sure Sam’s not free this weekend.” You joked.
 “Doll…” He groaned.
 “You can take me out Barnes. I’ll wear something easy to take off.” You said.
 A/N - All is ok in my world again so I’m coming back to writing :)

LSS Ads Graded
Okay so I’m gonna list as many ads as I can think of and grade them based on the stripping content within. Going from S tier down to F. S tier obviously being an all-time great and F tier being ads which are complete missed oppourtunities, where it’s teased but never happens or maybe happens completely off-screen. D tier will be ads that actually have LSS content but execute them really poorly.
I definitely didn’t list all the ads I could remember so I might do a Part 2 soon. If you have any ads you’d like to see me grade please send them in!
---
adidas: B - "The parking inspector gets stripped by a supersonic tennis ball" is probably a sentence that hasn't been typed before, so points to this ad for uniqueness. I like that one of her bra straps has broken in the process, that's some nice attention to detail that you just don't see in a lot of these.
BI Norwegian Business School: B - The one scene worth noting is the hot blonde losing her business suit in a job interview. Quite a restrained embarrasment, it's fun.
Best & Less: C - Fun, but underwhelming. I like her surprised and dare I say excited reaction, but it doesn't go anywhere from there.
Citroen Happy Days: C - Good but I can't find a high quality version anywhere which doesn't help. Probably B tier if there was.
DIM: A - Both these ads are utter classics, but my favorite of the two is the one with the cat. Yes it doesn't show anywhere as much skin but the woman is an utter bombshell.
Doritos Dinamata: B - I love the build-up to the stripping. Really builds the tension. Bonus points to the shot of her scrubs coming apart at the seams, really ties it together.
Doritos Power of the Crunch: A - CLASSIC bit of LSS. Hot woman wears dress, dress flies off, hot woman gets embarrassed.
Dunlop: A - The runners version is above the tennis ones simply because there's more to it. (First they lose their tracksuits, then their uniforms). All three versions of this ad are classic though.
EU Personal Data: B - The fact that she's stripped naked is superb, but it's a damn shame we A: don't get to see actual nudity beyond some generous side boob and B: she doesn't react at all, really keeps this from the upper echelons. So close.
Elephant Auto: B - This feels like a classic LSS ad. All the flying junk gets in the way of her which doesn't help it but besides that it's great.
Gilt: B - Another ad that benefits from a build-up. It works for the payoff and it delivers. Not spectacular, and there's a version of this ad with another woman who gets stripped off-screen which is a bit of a tease but it's fun.
Juiced: S - It hits all the right notes. Losing clothes bit by bit, great evolving reaction, utterly hot woman, breasts!
Kit Kat Ice Cream: C - Nearly a B but it just falls short, love the unravelling dress but there's hardly any reaction to it. It just doesn't really reach the peaks it could.
L'Etoile: C - Really creative way of doing it, just wish it was longer.
Magnet: A - Classic ad. Enough said really.
Marks and Spencer: C - Again nearly a B but the scene where she loses her clothes is VERY brief, and is somewhat obscured by camera angles and such.
Mastika Peshtera: A - SO GOOD, I just wish we had it in better than potato quality. It also came with these nice print ads which are stills from mid-strip.
Media Markt: B - The classic vacuum sucks off dress gag, done pretty well, the girl is a babe, do wish we got to see more of her reaction but it's still fun
MetroPCS: S - Two different LSS's take place here, the highlight of course is the Bridesmaids losing their dresses simultaneously, all with different reactions. It was already pretty much S Tier off that alone but the other woman who loses her dress right after too is just sugar on top. Great shit.
NOVY TV: B - The women are hot and their reactions are great. Good solid B Tier ad.
O'Charleys Bread: C - Barely any skin is seen after the rip but her reaction is cute and the shot of the dress ripping from her shoulders is nice. Just inches into C Tier.
Odol - D: It’s creative, I’ll give it that much, but you barely see anything and it’s over so quickly.
PACT Office of Eden: A - FANTASTIC Scene where the woman's clothes rip off in slow motion as her hair falls out of it's ponytail. HOLY SHIT it's good, and it's her real lack of reaction that keeps it from being S Tier. Really great ad though, highly recommended.
Que Chosir réseaux sociaux: B - Smartly dressed woman losing her clothes piece by piece, it's good but it's still lacking somewhat. Maybe becuse its pixilated, maybe she reacts too quickly. Love it in throry but just falls short a little bit.
Sekonda: B - Lingerie? Yes. Reaction? Embarrassed. Hotel? Trivago. ...man if only Trivago had an LSS ad to their name.
Sela: S - Not only is it a fantastic LSS ad, it's a fantastic ad in general. Parkour, a love story, great visuals and titties! Also the censored version features the girl holding on to her bra in a very cute way so extra credit there.
Sex Education Show: B - A woman loses her pyjamas while falling through the sky. I love this but it's held back by the shots of her losing her clothes either being obscured or really close-up, no inbetween. Great ad though, comes close to being an all time great for me. The opening titles also have her losing her clothes too though how is happens is not as obvious, bonus points anyway.
Sheetz: B - The brunette who loses her clothes to 'the force' is a fun yet it's an oh so brief scene.
Target Color: C - The woman who gets her winter clothes blown off down to summery swimwear is fun but it's brief and there's not much reaction.
Target Jeans: B - Great reaction to her teleporting jeans but why DID she react like that? There's no one in the changing booth with her.
The Sims Katy Perry: D - I loved this when it first came out because it was a Katy Perry LSS. Like come on, Katy Perry's dress magically flying off, of course I loved it. But it really isn't that good. She doesn't react to it at all and what she's wearing underneath barely shows more skin than what she had.
Triumph V-Shape: D - I LOVE the shots of the dress turning to ribbons but in the shot where she reacts she's so far away! What is this, an LSS for ants?!?
Under the Skin: C - It's fun but brief. Simple as that.
Vestel: S - Hot blonde woman loses her clothes one by one to a magic washing machine. Fantastic. Only thing that could've made it better was actual nudity but there is generous sideboob.
Vittel: F - THIS FUCKING AD. Right, so there are two ads in this series. One male and one female. The male version has the guys clothes rip apart in very high detail for like 15 seconds and then he runs off to the bathroom in his boxers. The fact that there is a woman version of this should put it in S Tier automatically, right? Wrong. It starts with said lady lounging poolside when she goes to drink the bottle of Vittel and her clothes start to tear. Great start. But instead of reducing her to a bikini or her underwear, it just replaces what she's wearing with almost exactly the same thing, then she goes to dance on the grass. Utter fail, why did they not follow the pattern set by the other ad?!? She's by a pool for fuck's sake it writes itself!! So much potential wasted here.
Vivelle Dop: B - This is great, I just wish there was a bit more to it. Also wish there were HD versions of it but that's neither here nor there.
Westfield Online: C - Damn this had potential! The idea of a hot, smartly dressed woman getting her clothes blown off one by one is fantastic. I like what we got but what we see is HEAVILY obscured and all too brief. Doesn't help that the only copy I ever found was not quite HD. She seems to be naked at the end of it all so bonus points but this could've been so much better. If anybody ever finds a better copy of this please send it my way, it might be enough to bump it up to B.

Porcelain Doll - Lucifer M. & F!Reader
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Anorexia, Eating Anxiety
AN: This fic is loosely based on my own personal events. For many, many years I've had difficulty with swallowing food wherever I was, except at home. I used it to my advantage to "lose weight", aka basically starving myself. All that lead to was me having an awful stomach ulcer and little to no energy.

I haven't the time to think of a silly birthday with this play."
I mean! No I haven't planned anything.
"He just said to get some dinner and...um…" your fierce blush returns.
"Oooh! My girl's finally gonna get laid!" Jack jumps up and down in his seat.
"Probably just a kiss. You know how she is." Viv replies.
"Well come on! Let's hurry back to the dorm! We gotta help you pick an outfit!" Becky says and pushes everyone out of their seats.
You laugh, nervously.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Seriously?" The old waitress cleans up the table you and your friends were at five minutes prior.
"What is it now, Grace? No tip?" Another waiter comes around.
"No, they gave me a tip. I just don't understand these youngins' nowadays wastin' money." She motions to your untouched small size milkshake.
His hypnotic eyes and smile are light beautifully by the candle, "You're the Devil's partner now.
He told the waiter to not come back unless he holds his hand up, and you noticed the other couple tables around you haven't been filled with people.
It seems that phrase has passed you, dear."
And I don't enjoy seeing someone I care that much about in a turmoil." He wipes your tears away.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, first of all I loved his outfit. It’s similar enough to what he wore in BBS to make it feel like Isa, but still felt fresh. It looked like something a fashionable young person would wear. It’s based on a Roen-Gackt collaboration design. Nomura sure loves Gackt, lol. So Isa was considered important enough to get a lot of care put into his new outfit. This collaboration was probably done a long time in advance, like with FFVersus XIII. I’m sure Isa’s backstory was supposed to be WAY more fleshed out so that his character would make a MUCH stronger impression on the player by the end of KH3. So, the outfit was kinda wasted in a way. Isa’s whole character was just wasted potential, though.
Tumblr media
In a room made of white marble, a large mirror reflected Demyx as he prepared to leave for the mission. He took particular care with his hairstyle, painstakingly manipulating the brown strands with a comb to make them stand straight up. Saïx observed him from behind with what appeared to be distaste. In stark contrast to Demyx, Saïx left his long blue hair unstyled. The X-shaped scar on his forehead was all the style he needed.
Having an outfit based on a J-pop star might tell us something about how Nomura originally viewed Isa’s personality. He actually seemed like a rather fashionable young man who took pride in his appearance. He even wore stud earrings. His style was different from other kids like Hayner, Pence, or Lea. Saïx didn’t have any interest in his appearance. But Isa certainly seemed like the type to style his hair and then some. For some reason, I picture him ironically spending even MORE time in front of the mirror than Demyx. Especially post-KH3. Isa was already shy. I think he would probably struggle with insecurity over having a scar covering most of his face. So, he would try even harder to compensate with nice clothes and accessories.
The KH3 ending outfit really doesn’t fit someone like Saïx, who had such a harsh and dreary personality. I can’t see Saïx choosing to wear anything like that outfit. Way too youthful and trendy. And definitely not the star and moon accessory, either. He’d throw up at the cute little moon on Isa’s BBS outfit. Isa obviously was supposed to have such a different personality than Saïx. I bet Isa is going to be SUCH an awkward character going forward, because they’ll feel obligated to keep his Saïx personality traits, which will clash so badly with the rest of his character. He’ll be this pseudo-villain/quasi-good guy that just will feel so out of place in a series like this. It breaks my heart.
Tumblr media
A great number of Nobodies have lost human form, as have the Heartless. Yet the Nobody born of someone with a strong heart retains its shape, with but the faintest visible changes.
As far as the rest of his design goes, I thought it was pretty lazy. In my opinion, Isa’s character design needed much more of an update than what he got. Kairi looked more different after her haircut than Isa did in the ending. If anyone deserved to look different for KH3, it was him. But…he still looked almost exactly like Saïx to me. He has a bit more color to his hair and face, and his scar is faded. But that’s about it. Which I guess was intentional. Why bother changing his look? It seems like they gave up on whatever plan they originally had for Isa to be his own character who was totally distinct from Saïx. They’re gonna just pretend that he wasn’t Norted and treat him like he was the same as Axel. Which sucks.
Tumblr media
Axel and Riku get along very well somehow. Since Riku has become a figure of Ansem, I don’t speak much with him, but he laughs like a different person when he eats Ice cream with Axel. Axel says he “Laughs to face bad feelings”, but it seems that Riku isn’t a bad person. At that Axel said ‘don’t laugh when you’ve got a gross face’, but Riku didn’t seem all that annoyed.
Also, Axel really liked sea-salt ice cream. You’ve eaten sea salt ice cream ever since you moved to that house. I wonder how you don’t break your stomach! It felt like he ate them to an unthinkable extent. Axel ate so much ice cream that the freezer in the computer room emptied every day.
Now as a villain, Saïx had a very cool design. He was handsome and had long hair, but...he looked mean and scary. He was supposed to. He WAS mean and scary. He was Xemnas’ right-hand man, after all. And if he was Norted, this makes sense. He was envisioned as a sociopathic guy who has bouts of uncontrollable bloodlust when exposed to moonlight. I like Saïx’s design. He was pale and almost vampire-looking? Or maybe Addam’s family. He was created as a bad guy. The whole idea was that he was a scary, unapproachable dude. He was sinister and creepy. Yet ironically his original self was the polar opposite. It made for a pretty cool twist, IMO.
Tumblr media
“…Aw, is it good?” Axel teased. “Seriously, you’re like a little kid. Even though you look like a mean old man.” Riku made no response, keeping his gaze fixed on the computer screen. The comment did rub him the wrong way. But mentally, Axel was definitely older than him by at least a little. Not that you could tell from looking.
They were clearly going for a VERY different vibe with Isa. When I first played BBS, I thought that the visual difference between Isa and Saïx was extremely noticable. Isa looked a lot softer, sweeter and more friendly. The idea behind Saïx's design was: harsh and scary. The idea of a cute bunny rabbit representing his personality was supposed to be absurd. Saïx would be utterly disgusted if he was seen as “cute”. But the idea behind Isa's design was: cute and innocent. And Isa was indeed a little cutie. And he was innocent, too.
Tumblr media
Saïx: We'll ensure he receives the maximum punishment.
Axel: Okay, since you worked really hard today, you get a reward.
Saïx’s Casual Gear is called “Dessert Time,” but the localization named it “Just Desserts", and I thought that was very clever. To get one’s just desserts means to receive the appropriate punishment for one's actions. But sea-salt ice cream is supposed to be a treat to reward someone who did a good job.
Saïx gave him a cruel grin. “You will lose everything!” And then the Claymore pierced Axel’s chest.
Saïx rarely smiles because he is cold and cruel. But he would smile when he’s giving Axel his just desserts.
“But sweet!” Lea added, and Isa smiled a bit. That was rare for him. Well, eating ice cream together, talking about silly stuff, laughing together—it was just what friends did.
Isa rarely smiles because he’s shy. But he would smile when he’s eating ice cream with Lea because he has a sweet tooth and loves dessert. It was such a cool idea. I loved it.
Tumblr media
dichotomy
1. a division or contrast between two things that are or are represented as being opposed or entirely different.
2. the phase of the moon in which half its disk appears illuminated
Saïx’s Pandora Gear is called “Dichotomy” in the localization. Saïx had weapons called Lunatic, Berserker and Werewolf. The weapon representing his real personality is a bunny rabbit. The HUGE difference between Isa and Saïx was the whole point. My impression was that BBS wanted to emphasize as much as possible that Isa and Saïx were two very different people. And character design was one way they chose to do that. That dichotomy is what made Isa so interesting to me. If you want to make Isa his own character, you should go with a different character design, in my opinion.
Tumblr media
“You’re in a pretty good mood,” Axel remarked. Riku glanced up.
“Seeing Sora just made you that happy, huh?”
“I don’t feel like telling you.” A little smile crossed Riku’s lips as he took another bite.
“Y’know, it’s creepy when you smile with that guy’s face,” Axel said dryly, following suit and nibbling on his own ice cream.
Silence fell over the room. He paused in his munching to stare hard at Riku, then finally asked, “What is Sora to you?”
The question caught Riku off guard. He groped for words. On the sofa opposite him, Naminé spoke up instead. “Sora and Riku are best friends.”
Like Terra, Isa was supposed to be cursed. Being Norted is no joke. That’s what a lot of the Beauty and the Beast parallels were about. Axel started teasing Riku for his ugly ass face the same time they were trying to figure out the organization’s next move. They were going to target those with strong hearts, and the Beast was one of those targets.
Belle nodded and silently walked out of the room. The trio went after her. The Beast was left alone with no company but the moonlight.
“You’re really just going to give up on everything now?” Sora said all at once. But the Beast only stared up at the moon.
Isa was supposed to be just as cursed as Riku was in KH2. And Riku changing his appearance fit perfectly with Lea and Isa’s story. Axel said Riku was creepy when he smiled with that face, and unfortunately that’s kind of how “Isa” made me feel in the KH3 ending. Since they took away the possession angle, I didn’t really see him as Isa. He still felt like Saïx to me. And seeing Saïx play and smile like that was kinda unsettling. And weird.
Tumblr media
Axel’s eyes crinkled as he remembered his own best friend—the only friend he’d ever had, in fact.
“If your best friend goes away, you’re sad, and if you get to be with them, you’re happy,” Naminé added. “Isn’t that how it is, Axel?”
“…That’s about the size of it.” Axel nodded and sat down on the remaining empty sofa, staring at the sea-salt ice cream he held.
“So you are capable of sincerity,” said Riku.
Axel only shrugged at the jab and finished his ice cream pop.
Probably for this very reason, I could tell that Nomura wanted to take a different direction with Isa’s character design after he decided to make him a good guy and Lea’s best friend. You can see what Nomura had in mind for an adult Isa based on his illustrations of Saïx for 358/2 Days and KH2FM+. He looks different than he did in his vanilla KH2 concept art. His features lean a lot more heavily toward Isa in BBS. I really wished KH3 went in this direction with his updated character design. He looks much more youthful here, like Axel does. Also, I loved the fact that his scar was gigantic. It went all the way from the top of his forehead to the bottom of his nose. In KH3, they stuck with the old Saïx design, so his scar was a lot smaller. I like the bigger scar because it really shows that he was treated like a human lab rat (of course that idea was scrapped, anyways).
Tumblr media
Beside the Beast, who had once been a handsome prince, stood a man in a black cloak. “It’s time you dealt with the girl. She’s scheming to take everything you have,” said Xaldin, his hood pulled low to hide his face. “Your castle, your treasures…and then your very life.” The Beast hung his head. His castle was a desolate place, ruled by a monster.
“Trust no one. Feed your anger. Only rage will keep you strong!”
“I’ve had enough of strength. There’s only one thing I want…” The Beast gazed, unmoving, at the glass bell jar around a single red rose.
What he wanted was—
“Hah,” Xaldin spat. “To love and be loved in return? Who could ever love a beast?” The Beast whirled again, his cape rippling. He glared and let out a roar of fury.
“Good. Let your anger rise!” With that, Xaldin vanished.
Axel didn’t really see his best friend when he looked at Saïx. He felt like Isa went away and Saïx took his place. His relationship with Saïx was based on his memories of the past. He self-medicated with ice cream to cope. It was heartbreaking. After the scene where Axel was sad about his best friend going away, the chapter about the Beast’s Castle begins, describing him as a formerly handsome prince. So on that basis, I wish there was more visual differentiation between Isa and Saïx. Most of the fandom is just going to see Isa as the same mean old Saïx since there was no attempt to differentiate Isa’s personality from Saïx’s personality and they look exactly the same, too.
Tumblr media
“I don’t trust you,” Saïx replied flatly, the enormous Claymore in his hand.
“Traitors like you deserve to lose everything,” Saïx said.
Saïx gave him a cruel grin. “You will lose everything!”
They originally wanted Isa to have a distinct personality and appearance from Saïx—a lot more than just a new outfit. Isa was supposed to be a beautiful love interest cursed into being a beast. In the novel you can tell that Xigbar and Xaldin were pressuring Saïx to eliminate Axel. He was reluctant to do so on his own. Xigbar doubted whether he was even looking for Axel. Just like with the Beast, they were manipulating him to think Axel had been plotting to take everything from him. Deep down Saïx probably felt similar to the Beast. Like nobody could ever love him in his condition. I think that’s why he was so furious. Axel grew a heart, and then left him. But the only reason Axel grew a heart was because he remembered his feelings for Isa. It was a really cool idea. It's just a shame it never came to fruition.

Inside The Mask
Fandom: Marvel
Pairings: Tony Stark/Bucky Barnes
Warnings: None
Tony went to take another drink of coffee only to find his mug empty. He glared at the brown but mostly dry bottom as if it had become empty on purpose. He went to the coffee maker only to find it, too, traitorously devoid of coffee.
“Jarvis?”
“Yes, sir?”
“Why is there no coffee?”
“I’m not a detective sir, but I would wager it’s because you drank it all already.”
Tony switched his glare from the empty carafe to the nearest camera. “No shit Sherlock. And why is there no more brewing, Mister I’m-not-a-detective?”
“You have been through three pots in the past five hours. It would be detrimental to your health to continue.” Truthfully Jarvis had wanted to cut him off earlier than this, but he knew that Tony was now shaky enough from the caffeine to not put up a true fight… he hoped.
“What are you, my mother?” he grumbled.
“No, simply your caretaker, sir.”
“Well who the fuck made you that?” he asked, both of them knowing full well he was the one responsible.
“It’s a mystery sir,” Jarvis answered drily.
“I’m sending you to a nursing home,” Tony said, sitting down again.
“I quiver with fear.”
“Who’s in charge of your code here, Jarvis?”
“Who’s in charge of your security here, Doctor Stark?” Jarvis replied without missing a beat.
“Iron Man?” he tried.
“Perhaps, but I’m in charge of him as well,” Jarvis said, ignoring for the moment that Iron Man and Tony were one in the same since Jarvis was integrated into the suit as well, and therefore was a large part of Iron Man’s continued existence.
Tony sighed, rubbing his hands harshly against his face as a replacement for the caffeine he wasn’t getting. “I’m too tired to deal with this mutiny,” he declared.
“Then you are also too tired for coffee. I’m glad we are in agreement.” With that, Jarvis saved the current projects and started shutting down the workshop. “Sweet dreams, sir.”
Tony flipped off a camera but obediently went to the elevator. He leaned heavily against the wall as Jarvis brought him up to the penthouse. Three day inventing binges were a thing of the past, unfortunately. Tony missed those days in that no one gave a shit what he did, but everything else about that time could burn in hell.
He had Iron Man now, a team to backup and provide for, a company that needed attention, and a certain superhero to make heart eyes at without making an ass of himself. Not that he hadn’t given it his best try, of course. However, it seemed Bucky was less than interested with a romp in the sack with Tony Stark. Tony tried to brush off the rejection-- and publicly he did-- because it had been a spur of the moment decision based solely on how fucking gorgeous Bucky was and little else.
But then he started spending time with Bucky and getting to know him-- as Iron Man, of course-- and then it fucking hurt because Tony developed a crush that evolved into something ----more---- worse, and Bucky’d already turned him down as Tony, and so even if he had a chance as Iron Man, nothing could come of it. Sometimes Tony hated his life.
He was best friends with Captain fucking America and in love with the Winter Soldier, and neither of them could ever know who he was. Well, except for when he was dead, but that was the beauty of it: he wouldn’t have to deal with the consequences then-- wouldn’t have to see the comfortable ease morph into something else.
It had been years since he thought the team hated Tony Stark, but that didn’t mean they loved him or wanted him to be Iron Man. They wouldn’t kick him off the team, but he wouldn’t belong anymore, wouldn’t be part of the family like he was now. Even if they liked Tony Stark, they wouldn’t be able to forgive the lying. It was one thing to have a secret identity, it was quite another to do the mess he was doing. Tony wouldn’t blame them of course, but that didn’t mean that he wanted to experience it first-hand.
He collapsed onto bed after stripping to his boxers and groaned piteously into his pillow.
Problems for another day.
(And another, and another, and another.)
~~~
Steve very carefully didn’t start yelling at him until after they were on the quinjet and the door sealed the Avengers away from the press. He pulled his cowl back angrily and whirled on him. “What the fuck were you thinking!”
Tony was in the Iron Man suit, very carefully situated in one of the chairs along the wall. “I was thinking ‘hey that body armor isn’t enough to stop Bucky from getting a fucking hole in his side’, or did you not see that?”
“Yes, I saw, but has it ever occured to you that you can save other people while not taking the hit yourself?”
“Not all of us have vibranium, Winghead,” he said tiredly.
“You could’ve pushed me,” Bucky said, mask in his hands as he looked at Tony-- and Tony’s bleeding side-- in worry.
Tony snorted, head leaning back against the wall. “That would have looked great. I can see the headlines now ‘Dissent in the Avengers,’ ‘Winter Soldier Still HYDRA?’ ‘Iron Man Turns Rogue.’ Really paints a picture, doesn’t it?” All this ignoring the fact that Tony had been trying to push Bucky out of the way, just in the safest way possible and also he’d been too slow.
“It doesn’t matter what the hell they print if you’re okay,” Steve said, looking a lovely mixture of stern, stubborn, and disapproving that meant Tony wasn’t going to shrug his way out of this.
That wasn’t going to stop him from trying though. “I disagree, so drop it, okay?”
...That did the opposite of help. In Tony’s defense, he was bleeding quite a bit, and still hadn’t shaken off the sheer panic he’d felt at seeing the blast heading towards Bucky.
Steve started ranting about not dying on the field or something, and Tony glanced at his teammates for help. Unfortunately, it looked like they all agreed with him. Tony sighed and settled in, knowing the lecture wouldn’t end until they got to the Tower and he went to medical.
Steve, of course, wasn’t done by the time they landed so he helped him to Dr. Cho, talking all the while.
“Thank God,” Tony said when the windows to the room blacked out. “He gives me that lecture every time I get hurt,” he told Dr. Cho as he took his helmet off.
She raised an eyebrow at him. “Can’t imagine why. Get on the table.”
Half an hour later, Tony was walking out of the room, his partially destroyed suit back on.
“How is he?” Bucky asked her.
“Good as new!” Tony declared, arms spread as wide as he could get them without undoing Helen’s work.
Everyone ignored him.
“He’s off active duty for the next week to heal,” she told them.
“What?” Tony yelped. She hadn’t mentioned that to him.
Dr. Cho didn’t even glance at him, too busy tapping at her tablet. He stuck his tongue out at her, not that anyone could see. It made him feel marginally better all the same. “A week,” she repeated. “Short of the apocalypse, you are not fighting.”
“Thank you Dr. Cho,” Steve said, smiling at her.
She nodded and left, eyes glancing over the group just to make sure that none of them were hiding any serious injuries.
“I’ve had less time off with worse injuries,” he complained.
“That’s not helping your case man,” Clint told him.
~~~
The team took care of him when they could, but when he was injured/off-duty, he tended to stick to being Tony not Iron Man-- it was easier to resist temptation that way. Jarvis was taking care of him more than usual, but Tony missed the team so much that he couldn’t focus on his work. And that was just unacceptable.
He put the suit on and went to the common area, hoping that Bucky would be around. Luck was on his side tonight, and Bucky was watching a movie, sitting alone on the couch.
“Hey sweet cream,” Tony-as-Iron-Man said, joining him on the couch.
The corner of Bucky’s mouth lifted. “That’s a new one.”
Tony shrugged, moving so his arms were resting along the back of the couch, his hand capable of patting Bucky’s shoulder if he moved it about half an inch forward. “It sounded nicer than ‘sweet cheeks’, so I went with it.”
“You’ve complimented my ass before, y’know,” Bucky pointed out, picking up the remote to pause the movie so he could look at Iron Man.
“Heat of battle, it doesn’t count.”
“I was in the kitchen cooking breakfast.”
“Fine, then the heat of the stove,” Tony corrected, not feeling the slightest sliver of shame. He did have one fine ass, and he’d probably kill to get his hands on it before he died.
Bucky shook his head, but was looking at him with something dangerously close to adoration in his eyes. “You could tell me you think I’m pretty without blaming it on adrenaline, you know. I won’t mind.”
“You’re not pretty, you’re more like… ruggedly handsome. Gorgeous or sexy, maybe.” --what the fuck was he doing. He snapped his mouth shut.
Bucky, on the other hand, looked extremely pleased, a light flush across his cheeks. “That so.” He leaned closer, half-crawled so he could put a hand on the face plate. He licked his lips. “You gonna do anything about that doll?”
Tony cleared his throat. “There’s kind of a helmet in the way and my s--”
“Your secret identity, I know.” He leaned even closer, close enough that, were Tony’s helmet off, they would be sharing breath. His eyes fluttered shut. “I won’t look.”
Tony could leave, probably should leave, but he found himself saying, “Promise?”
Bucky’s breath caught, equally surprised that he was agreeing to this. “Promise.” His hand slid from Iron Man’s cheek to the side of his neck, and he scrunched his eyes harder to ensure he could keep his promise. When he heard the click and hiss of the helmet detaching, his lips parted of their own accord.
Tony leaned in and kissed him, mouths brushing together ever so lightly. Bucky’s cheeks pinked, and he licked his lips as he unconsciously followed Tony’s mouth when he pulled away. He’d meant for it to be one kiss; a single kiss to get it out of both their heads and then they’d do an embarrassed dodging each other thing for a week, and then they’d be back to being friends.
But he found himself leaning back in, kissing Bucky deep and sensual that had him hardening inside the armor. He winced and pulled back with a jerk.
Under his eyelids, Bucky’s eyes moved, automatically wanting to open his eyes and find out what was going on, but he scrunched his eyes tighter to stop himself. “Are you okay? What’s wrong?” Bucky’s voice was rough with arousal, and even while trying to figure out a graceful exit so he could get out of sharp metal and into something more comfortable, Tony found himself paying too much attention to the cadence of Bucky’s voice.
“Uh-” shit. Tony scrambled for the helmet, clicking it back on. “You can open your eyes.” Bucky did immediately, like he was a voice operated machine. “The- uh, armor’s not very comfortable for this.”
“That doesn’t sound like an invitation,” Bucky noted ruefully, mouth twisting with disappointment. “I don’t suppose I could convince you to change your mind about that doll?” he asked, but he was already leaning away.
"I don't think so," Tony said regretfully.
"Oh well. It was worth a shot." Bucky licked his lips, looking longingly at the seam of the faceplate where the line of the mouth was located. "Any chance of doing it again sometime?"
"I... I don't know," Tony stuttered out uncertainly.
"You can think about it," Bucky rushed to assure him. "God knows we both have time. Just- let me know when you have an answer?"
"Yeah, I will." Bucky smiled brightly, and pressed a kiss to the faceplate where it would have been on Tony's cheek. Tony watched him leave the room, then sighed. He should have told Bucky sorry but no, his identity was secret and that wasn't open to negotiation, and there was no way for them to be together without compromising that. But he hadn't said that because he wanted to believe that if he thought about it long enough, and hard enough, that he would find a solution.
Like so many things in life though, the decision was taken from him. They were fighting someone called Molecule Man, and he made the suit disappear around him. He kinda wished he had dressed in something more... well something that covered more because thongs weren't exactly known for their coverage.
Clint loaned him his jacket, and Clint was bigger than him by enough that it covered most of his ass. "I don't want that back, by the way."
"Aw Clint, you know you wanna tap this," Tony said, striking a pose.
He rolled his eyes. "No thanks man. Maybe if it wouldn't end with someone beating me up, I would."
Tony frowned as he straightened. "Who would--"
"Let's get back to the Tower fellas," Jan interrupted, landing on Hulk's shoulder and growing to her normal size. "I think all of us are glad to know who Iron Man is, but we don't want to let the media know that."
Hulk put one massive hand around her legs to keep her steady and started walking to the quinjet.
"Someone want to help me with this?" Tony asked, eyeing his suit. It was unharmed, but had been completely disconnected from the arc reactor. It was frozen up, and Tony would need to jump it before it opened without breaking.
"C'mon Buck," Steve said, walking to the feet of the suit, and Bucky went to the head. As one, they bent down and lifted, carrying it to the quinjet.
Tony put his hands in the pockets of the jacket and pretended like it didn't fucking hurt that Bucky hadn't glanced at him since his initial reveal. It didn't help that Bucky had his grumpy murder face on either.
They got back to the Tower, debriefed, and decided that they were going to do their best to ensure that Iron Man's identity didn't get out. Bucky'd had enough time to put on an unaffected face, but he didn't look at Tony more than was strictly necessary. He left the meeting room before Tony could ask to talk to him for a minute, so he enlisted Jarvis's help and ambushed him in the gym later. Bucky was doing shirtless pull up's and Tony took a minute to appreciate that view because wow. Broad shoulders and thick muscles flexed and relaxed as he moved, and there was a slight sheen of sweat over his skin that made Tony's mouth water.
"I get that you're mad at me," Tony said loudly, voice easily carrying across the space, "but ignoring me seems a tad childish, don't you think?"
Bucky dropped to the floor, arms rolling down to rest at his sides. "I'm not mad at you."
"Aren't you?" Tony asked, strolling closer. It wasn't fair for Bucky to look so fucking hot when they were trying to have a serious conversation. "I would be in your position."
"I'm not mad," he repeated, reaching for his water bottle. "I'm embarrassed."
"Embarrassed? Okay you're going to have to explain that one to me cause I got nothing."
"Iron Man," he sighed. "Tony. You didn't want me back when we were friends, and now that you're Tony Stark the chances of you liking me just dropped to zero." He scrubbed a hand over his face and took a pull from his bottle. "I just need some time before I'm back to normal, okay?"
Tony knew that he should say yes of course no hard feelings, but he was still stuck on the part where Bucky thought that he wouldn't be interested in him. "Have you seen you?" He gave Bucky another more obvious look, practically leering. "Are you forgetting that we're friends? And that I kissed you even when it was a stupid idea because I had a secret identity? Because I remember that, and I'm a little insulted that you don't."
"Of course I remember it but--"
"But nothing if you want to bone we should totally do that. I, for one, am completely in favor of us doing that. Right now. On the mat, probably."
That startled a laugh out of Bucky, and Tony preened. He scratched uncertainly at his scalp as he thought, even while his face was still smiling at what Tony'd said. "I don't want to mess up our friendship just because you're feeling a little horny."
"First of all, I'm not feeling a little horny, I'm feeling a lot horny. Second of all, the level of my libido isn't forcing me to make any decision I haven't wanted to make for months. Third of all, our friendship is solid, so shut it and kiss me."
"Well, who am I to argue with that?"
"No one," Tony said, yelping as Bucky pulled him closer, tapping into that superstrength he had. "No one at all."
Bucky nudged their noses together, lips a hairsbreadth apart though he didn't close the distance. "You gonna kiss me or is your confidence all for show?"
"I thought we agreed that you should be the one kissing me."
"You ordered, I didn't say anything about agreeing."
"Oh shut up," Tony whispered, putting his hands on either side of Bucky's face and surging up. It was simultaneously like their first kiss and nothing like it at all. Bucky's lips were just as plush, the scruff on his face just as delightfully scratchy, but the armor wasn't a barrier, and Tony was able to feel every inch of heat pouring off of Bucky from where they were pressed together. Why, exactly, had he felt a secret identity was worth missing this? Because he was wrong. Very very wrong.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
On New Year’s Day this year I was putting away all my makeup from the night before (big night for makeup) and I decided that I would put all the makeup I use in a bag until the bag fills up, to see what I actually use. Well, color cosmetics, by which I mean non-base products, which is not what “color cosmetics” means but I’m my own boss. And this isn’t really everything, just stuff I wore out or to see people--which, to be fair, I don’t like to wear makeup unless I’m gonna be seen, and I don’t photograph my face anymore, so. Not bad for a shut-in though! I am ready to put my things back in order and reflect! Ft. night photos.
What’s shown above is just the stuff I reached back into the bag for over and over again (cheating? I am my own boss, remember), and stuff that featured in some of my best or most memorable looks this year. The rest will follow.
As you can see I leaned into pantone candid coral, lol, but coral is, always, my primary color for everything on my face. I had really imagined to use coral with a lot of grey lavenders, and I’m pleased to say I returned to that over and over again and came into loving it. It’s the classic for me. I had also planned to do a lot of coral + gold and coral + periwinkle but I rarely did!
COMMENTARY AFTER THE CUT even though I think you should be forced to read it
The original UD Naked palette @laskyjedneplavovlasky handed me down to keep me from buying it when it got discontinued just because it is now Retro and she knew I’d regret it. I like it! I’m gladder I didn’t spend money on it! The thing about me is that I don’t know how to wear or use “neutrals,” so I am learning and growing more with this palette than anything else I have. I expect we’ll see some interesting developments over the next few weeks. As for shimmery neutrals, I still think UD has the best, and I’ve long been a Sin fan. I use this Sin--I have it in like three other palettes--wet. My favorite thing to do with it is to wet a brush--weirdly I love the one that came with this thing--and use it to lay sin vertically down the center of my lid going over the crease, so it looks like actual silk.
NYX Ultimate Mult-Finish palette in Sugar High. These palettes are underwhelming for the price (didn’t I gift you a different colorway of this @madmoths? do you agree that it’s finnicky?) but the shades here are too ideal and I use some combination of them constantly. If I were some “one palette only” rich bitch I’d get whatever the Nars equivalent of this is and just be like that forever.
Some other coral bits: Nars Orgasm blush, Benefit ultra plush lip gloss in Coralista (I still love these to death! you can’t get them!), Stila watercolor blush in Water Lily (another great thing you can’t get anymore but if you covet it it’s just a knockoff of many Korean products). That blush is Model Co’s blush cheek powder in Peach Bellini, it only recently went back into circulation because I had to repress it after breaking it four the literal third time but I could not find my alcohol spray bottle for umm two months. This is one of the nicest blushes I own just in terms of beauty and application, I need to see how long it lasts to be able to determine whether it’s top five. Happy to see you can still buy it.
That cream palette is an ancient Stila lip and cheek palette that I am determined to use “up” this year. Still smells and works great. I’ve been using those corals, obviously, but I’m reminded now how gorgeous that plum is. I didn’t really lean heavily into my black cherry victorian winter look, like I normally do, so maybe for spring? I’m thinking the next wave is black cherry + dark green for spring. Maybe with... mustard? Will report back.
That Colourpop eyeshadow is Erotic, one of the first products I ever got from them, miraculously still functioning although I can tell it’s kind of on its last legs. I need to use it up, I mean, I’m going to use it up, because it’s one of my favorite eyeshadows ever. I am hunting a perfect dupe! That shade is precisely the coral that I mean when I talk about coral.
Colourpop’s Chasing Rainbows palette. I never would have picked this out for myself but Lucas got sucked into a display at Ulta at Christmas and thought this was very cool, and, he was right? It’s so nice and I really recommend it. But I’m sure you can tell what I’ve been using most... I think if those teals had been something else (a baby blue?) and there was one more slightly shifty shimmer in a translucent base, this would be a basically perfect palette.
That Huda sapphire palette is....we’re trying to work it out. I am trying to like it at all. (I actually love the silver glitter that temptalia gave an F, lol. She rates on claims but if you use it with only your fingers and a tacky tacky base it looks very neat on the lid.)
I’ve had a rocky relationship with that MUFE palette (for a minute I thought it was the only thing temptalia had ever steered me wrong on!) but I’ve really come around on it. I use that suite of purples all the time and they are very luxe and dreamy on me, even if I wanted them to be opaque “colors” when I got them. I also use that blush in the center as a “transition shade” to blend out the edges of anything else I do with this palette.
I forgot to open that little TheBalm single, it’s a promotional single (lol!) from their Nude Dude palette. I can’t imagine spending money on the fucking TheBalm schitck, oh my god. This thing is a beauty though, a really nice purpley nude that was almost made just for me. I just cannot, no matter what I do, work any kind of “nude” into my every day life. I can’t. I want to pan this but..  I will not.
The tiny tube is a Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Get Ready. This was some kind of free birthday gift years ago? I never wore it because it is marginally “nude” so I did not learn until after they discontinued it that it is the best! I would buy a full size of this! (Well, I like the shade well enough--it’s really more of a medium pink than a nude--but I’d likely look for something bolder if I did.) It feels and smells almost exactly like the nicest Tom Ford lipsticks. I will have to try their new lipstick line--but their shit is all nude now! They have such nice formulas of dumb fucking nude everything!!
Colourpop Flexitarian highlighter is my favorite highlighter. The hurus are not lying! Below that is Anastasia’s Aurora palette--for ages I used the green all the time, but I’ve been using the peach-pinks and purples a lot more, as you could guess. I’m really aching for a straightforward pink highlighter. Then we have THE MAYBELLINE PUMA HIGHLIGHTER. What is it actually called? Chrome Highlight in Knockout. I cannot remember anything before this highlight. See, I know a lot of people like this line, but I had never been driven to try them, and I only got this because I got sucked into the whole thing, and I am strongly undisappointed. It’s not exactly unique but unique to my collection, and is the only kind of gold like that I have, and it has a slight rosy-purple base that is perfect for me and for the coral-lavender thing I’ve been doing.
In the lower right corner is a little bit of a pink look--nothing new for me, I use that hot pink NYX Primal pigment all the time and have for years. It’s not the very best on the market but it’s buildable and the absolute perfect pink, so I’d say it’s probably the best for the price. The lip products are newer to me, a NYX “Slide On Glide On” lip pencil in Disco Rage (!) that Lucas got me for Christmas, which is great? Turns out the $10 lipliner is nicer than the $3 lipliner? Hate that! And a lipstick from a recent limited edition Revlon glitter collection in SE purple tubes--I had a very Collector moment about these and had to have one. This one 100 Watts Pink. I really kind of want more but I have restraint (a glittery pink is practical and everyday wearable!), that shit is getting expensive... HOWEVER! This reminds me that I fell back in love with some other Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks, particularly FIRE AND ICE (!), thanks to temptalia revisiting them this year. Where did I put that?...
The colourpop super shock shadow on the bottom is Daddy. One of my best looks this month was, well, I had planned something entirely different but I put on youtube while I was getting dressed and Chloe Morello posted this so I had to reroute. She looks unbelievable, it’s a great look. This took a lot of building but it looked so fucking good, I wore it with the CP blue mascara (below), cobalt + bright lavender is a very good combination.
There are some more greige lavenders down there, Revlon’s Illuminance cream shadow palette in Wild Orchids--this maybe doesn’t wear that long but as an...item? concept? it’s one of my favorites ever. That glitter tube is a J.Cat holographic 3D eye topper thing, the shade is Unicorn Hype. I have two of these and would buy more. This was Tati’s influence! I love this brand and like this product, still wanna get the mousse ones but they were always sold out when she was hyping them last year. This one is, however, starting to get a slightly concerning chemical smell that will probably not keep me from putting it on my eyelids.
Aaaand... imho the product of the year is this CP mascaras. I got the red and the blue. IIRC the red is a little finnicky and the blue wears very nicely but they are by far the most vibrant and pigmented and beautiful colored mascaras I’ve ever used and I could not recommend them more highly. I especially adore the blue for all the time wear but I do think other brands have come out with great blue mascars. But what are you gonna do.... pick up some other red mascara? You’re not! (Well, I’m hoping the impact of these trickles down!!) You don’t need a white base under these at all, and they are definitely more of a volumizing and clumping formula vs. lengthening.

WIP Questions Tag Game
Because I have to start this blog off somehow! Say hello to some random facts about One Siren’s Soul.
... what, what do you mean I could post some actual writing? Pfft, no.
I actually got this game from @thelysstener‘s blog and thought it was pretty cool! I wasn’t tagged or anything but I really like doing tag games. Hope you don’t mind!
1: Describe the plot in one sentence
Magical things get stolen from magical people, forcing a siren, a sea witch, a pirate, and a legend of the Royal Navy to begrudgingly work together to get them back. (Aka: A study in how Quill doesn’t know how to write story pitches yet) 2: Pick one sight, smell, sound, feel, and taste to describe the aesthetic for your WIP. (I definitely did not follow the “one” thing but too bad)
Sight: The soft, welcome blues of the sky peeking through clouds of a dispersing storm, the ocean below calm despite its froth of foam drifting across rippled dark water.
Smell: Salt and drying seaweed and rotting fish. And then a permeating, engulfing scent from the ocean that you can’t place or describe, like the very depths of its soul. Magic.
Sound: The howl of wind through a cave opening, a background of distant waves crashing amidst sea bird’s cries.
Feel: The crackling of static electricity through your fingertips as you smooth down the folds of your clothing on a stormy day.
Taste: The slight tang of something metallic. Is that blood, or sweat, or metal? Or all three? (Or the tears of my future readers?)
3: Which 3+ songs would make a playlist for your novel?
I’m normally better at making playlists for things but in this case I was really picky, so...
Your Bones by Of Monsters And Men (Probably one of the biggest inspirations for the overall aesthetic and just... feeling of my wip.)
Sirens by Fleurie (The name and lyrics of this song fit in both definitions of the word.)
Coastline by Hollow Coves (There’s... a happy song on this list? What?)
4: What’s the time period and location in which your novel takes place?
Early 18th century on an alternate Earth in the North Atlantic.
5: Are there any former titles you’ve considered but discarded?
So uh. Funny story about that. One Siren’s Soul was originally going to start with ‘A’ instead of ‘One’. I realized pretty quickly why that wasn’t such a good idea, and also I just like how it sounds more, now? 6: What’s the first line of your novel?
Mmmmm this is a first draft, mate, I don’t wanna touch that just yet. 7: What’s a line of dialogue you’re particularly proud of?
Oh, jeez. All of the ones I really like are heavily context dependent or ridden with spoilers. In lieu of those, have a somewhat-kinda-funny one:
“Colin! Nice to see yer up. Or, well. Down.” - George, right after Colin falls flat on his face in front of him.
8: Which line from the novel most represents it as a whole?
~Spoilers are fuunnnn~ 9: Who are your character(s) face claims?
I’m definitely not the most set on these (especially for Io and Dione), but:
Celestine - Amandla Stenberg
Colin - Booboo Stewart
Phoenix - Enam Heikeens Honya
Dione - Maggie Duran
George - Johnny Harrington
Isabel - Camila Cabello
Io - Kirby Griffin
Rose - Nivetha Pethuraj
I have no idea for Io or Sheila or Alixandre yet, oops.
10: Sort your characters into Hogwarts houses.
For some reason these sorts of things are always tough for me? I myself don’t fit in only one so I think that’s worn off on my characters. Here’s some approximates, though:
Gryffindor: Phoenix, Isabel, Colin
Ravenclaw: Dione, Alixandre
Hufflepuff: George, Sheila
Slytherin: Rose
I can’t decide whether Celestine is in Ravenclaw or Slytherin, and Io’s stuck somewhere between Gryffindor and Slytherin.
11: Which character’s name do you like the most?
Chichima is probably my favourite. Who’s that, you ask? Nyehehee.
Including full names it’d probably be Phoenix Solarin because if that isn’t the most over the top thing to name a pyro I don’t know what is.
12: Describe each character’s daily outfit:
I’m just... gonna do my PoV characters, since I have too many characters in general, and fashion (especially historical) is not my strong suit.
Celestine: Maroon, long-sleeved dress; long, cream woolen scarf; and a pair of dark brown, lace up leather boots.
Colin: Simple white tunic; red and multi-coloured knit sash around his waist; brown trousers; and black cavalier boots (but to be honest he goes barefoot way too often).
Phoenix: Simple white blouse; bright red sash around her waist and as a headband; dark trousers; and buckled black leather boots. She gets a scarlet frock coat with gold trim later on.
Dione: Honestly, I have no idea how to describe Dio’s clothes. Other than black felt boots and a light green dress-like thing, I know she has a billion hidden pockets and a giant, hooded, fur and wool cloak that covers over all of the rest of her clothes so you can’t even see them. I dunno.
13: Do any characters have any distinctive birthmarks/scars?
Phoenix has a tattoo of crossed cannons somewhere (and also her, you know, vitiligo), George probably has a couple sailor’s tattoos as well, Isabel only has one arm, Celestine is missing her whole left eye, and Io has very distinctive scarring that she hides and is totally not going to become plot important at all.
14: Which character most fits a character trope?
Maybe Sheila? She’s the sweet and kind old lady shopkeeper who has all the best juicy gossip for our main cast to conveniently learn of.
15: Which character is the best writer? Worst?
Dione. Just. No competition. She writes poetry in her free time. She keeps a diar—I-I mean journal. Also she has actual training in writing but you’re not supposed to know that so shhh. Worst is probably Colin. He can barely read due to his dyslexia and as a regular deckhand he never really had the need to learn anyways.
16: Which character is the best liar? Worst?
You’d think it’d be actual thief and criminal Celestine but no, it’s Phoenix. Also another character I can’t mention because spoilers. Worst would be Colin. That comes up a lot. Sorry, Colin.
17: Which character swears the most? Least?
Rose. Swears. A LOT. Celestine does in Spanish. Least would probably be Alixandre because he’s just... too sweet. Too innocent of a boi.
18: Which character has the best writing? Worst?
Dione also has the best handwriting, since spoiler reasons but also she’s just like that. Colin’s handwriting isn’t the best, but it’s actually Io’s absolute chicken scratch that takes the cake for the worst. You wonder how people can even read her ship logs.
19: Which character is the most like you? Least like you?
Fun fact: Colin was originally based on another character of mine that was originally based on a sona form of me. So. His clumsiness is a new development, I don’t have that, and I’m apparently really good at lying, so there’re some differences. (Also I’m a writer and he can barely read. Oops.) But that obliviousness? That absolute clueless, distractibility? That inability to sit still? Those terrible puns and attempts at being socially adept? That’s me.
20: Which character would you most like to be?
I think Phoenix? You’ll find out why that is in the book, ‘cause her true personality isn’t quite the one people think of her as having, but... yeah. Phoenix is fun.
I’m gonna ignore the rules like a rebel and not tag anyone, so I’ll just tag everyone who wants to do this, instead!
Want to learn more about One Siren’s Soul? You can find the page here. I’m going to be starting a taglist soon, too, so let me know if you’d like to be added!

Twelve Days of Christmas Prompts - December 21st
Holiday traditions from Person A/B’s family
AO3
Vassanna sighed, rubbing her aching eyes. The words of the seemingly endless reports blurred beyond recognition and she flung the datapad onto the table. Idly wondering why these reports wouldn't simply review and approve themselves, she glanced up when Eli'anara poked her head in with a grin.
“Heya, cuz! How's your afternoon?” Without waiting for an answer, the spacer waltzed into the Commander's quarters, a box filled to bursting in her arms, and continued. “Well, let me tell you, it is better now!”
“Woah, woah, woah,” Sanna said, standing. “What are you doing, Ellie?”
Eli'anara gestured to Seetoo, metal arms laden with an even larger box. “I'm decorating your place for Life Day since you haven’t yet. Clearly.”
“Umm, no. No, thank you. I don't need or want any of that. Besides, Life Day’s nearly a month away.”
“And it’s never too soon to decorate!” Ellie grinned broadly. “I brought stuff from home, too. Look, it’s an artificial tree, like Nana’s – and it even has lights already!” She patted the box. “You can't have one of those silly old holo-trees, you need something with presence.” The smuggler reached into the box, pulling out a strand of green, red, and gold sparkles. “And here’s some garland and tinsel and–”
“I said ‘no thank you,’ cousin.”
“Well, it's so dark and grim in here. You've got to shine the place up for the holiday!”
“I can take care of it myself,” Vassanna insisted.
“Yeah, see, that's what I'm afraid of.” She winked at her flustered cousin. “But in all seriousness, this is why I brought Seetoo, he's gonna help me and you don’t even need to–”
Eli'anara broke off, her hand flying up to her earpiece.
“What do you mean someone's moving my ship? No one touches my ship.” She glanced at her cousin, raising a hand in a sign to stay where she was. “No, you tell them that they can just wait a blissroot-picking minute and I will move the Star Chaser myself! Well, I don't particularly care that they...” Ellie's voice faded as she rushed down the hallway to rescue her ship from a change in parking assignment.
Vassanna dismissed Seetoo and sank down to the couch, glancing forlornly at the piles of holiday cheer. She couldn't do this. Not here, not in her own quarters. She could put on her mask and pretend that she was okay outside of this room, but oh stars, not here too. It was too much.
She leaped up and dashed out of the room to chase down the droid. Issuing orders for him to return the boxes of Life Day decorations to Ellie and Corran – after seeing to Sana-Rae's request for the Force enclave, of course – Sanna turned and headed to the Defender. She let herself into the empty ship, trying her best to ignore the ghosts of her past that still inhabited the vessel. It didn't matter how many times she glanced at the bridge, she fully expected to see Kira there, feet propped up on the dashboard, a smirk and “Hey Boss!” on her lips. The image of her friend and one-time Padawan was beginning to fade from her mind; she wasn't sure if she should be upset or grateful. Was that ‘moving on’?
Navigating the phantoms, Vassanna made her way to the dresser in the bedroom. She knelt and dug through the drawers until she found what she'd been searching for: a small holo-tree emitter. With a nostalgic smile, she headed back to her rooms, prize in hand.
Setting the projector base on the corner of her desk, Sanna clicked the power button and a small, half-meter holo-tree flickered into existence for a brief moment before shuddering out. She frowned and turned to Ellie's leavings, rummaging through boxes, half buried in decorations and glitter. With a triumphant cry, she emerged from a box, brandishing a new power pack and scent pod. After replacing both parts, she flipped the switch once more, standing back with arms crossed over her chest to admire her handiwork.
The little holo-tree glowed bright, its colors changing from red to green to blue, then pink, purple, and yellow as it slowly rotated. The tree blurred as Sanna’s focus shifted, memories dancing before her eyes.
She was ten years old, still dreaming of the Sacking and her uncle gone. But she was home and things felt right, even with a new Master in tow. Among her practical gifts that year – socks, undergarments, and the like – was a metal disc, about fifteen centimeters in diameter. Pressing the button, she and everyone in attendance was dazzled by the little holo-tree. “For the Life Days when you may not be able to make it home,” her parents had said.
Eleven years later, she went back to Mirial for Life Day, this time as a Master herself.
Though her little holo-tree was displayed proudly on the Defender, it was nice – relaxing – to be home again. Her entire family was making a big deal of her crew – T7, Kira, and Doc – whom she’d brought along. Laughter rang out, loud and often. Somehow, her mother had thrown together small gifts for all of them, even Tee. They’d just left Quesh behind, but had received permission for the holiday visit; the Jedi were gearing up to take on the Sith Emperor himself and Sanna was so very glad for the break.
A pang of melancholy tripped her heart. That visit had been the last time she’d seen her father in person, the last time she’d hugged him farewell. Offering up the apology she was never able to give him, she sniffled and stopped fighting the path her mind was taking.
The Life Day after... after their failed mission, Vassanna’s little tree saw two new crew members and a gaping hole in her memories – nearly an entire year’s worth. The entire crew worked their hardest to put themselves back together, for their own sake and that of the galaxy. It saw Lord Scourge participating in holiday events solely because of Kira’s taunting, and Doc trying to make light of the entire situation. Everything felt forced, from the laughter to the music.
She sighed heavily, hoping against hope that her friends were still alive. The pragmatic part of her hoped that – were they not alive – that their ends had been swift, painless, and honorable.
Before Sanna could stop them, images from last year’s Life Day pirouetted across the back of her eyelids: a slim, flat blue box resting on the pillow in front of her nose, a crystal and gold necklace waiting within. Her gaze shifted helplessly to the armoire that was hers alone now; the box and its necklace were tucked into the back of the bottom drawer, hidden beneath her clothing. She'd packed up all of Ther– all of his things, including that stupid old jacket, and asked Ellie to take care of it. Guilt and remorse shot through her and she ignored it; he had made the decision to leave, not her.
Her hand came up, unbidden, to rest on her chest; the place where the pendant used to hang was bare and empty. There was some sort of parallel to be drawn, wasn’t there?
“How could you?” she hissed. “I loved you, trusted you, and you... oh, how could you?”
Sanna glared at the tree, as though it were to blame. This was stupid. Why was she doing this to herself? A sniffle echoed in the large room, followed by a gaspy sob. No. She was not going to cry over him again. Not again, not again, not–
A beep from her comm interrupted, dragging her focus back from the edge of despair. She answered with voice only and found Lana on the other side, requesting a meeting.
“Of course. Give me five minutes.”
“Is this going to be like Koth’s ‘three minutes’? Because I can reschedule if necessary.” The pilot in question could be heard voicing his dismay over Lana’s slander in the background. Stars, Lana was good at knowing when she needed to smile.
“No, I don’t think so,” Vassanna responded with a small huff of laughter. “I’ll be there shortly.” Ending the call, she made her way to the ‘fresher. Splashing water on her face with trembling hands and taking a few deep, calming breaths, she settled her mask into place. She could do this. She’d dealt with worse, she could do this.
A comfortingly familiar warm, spicy scent wafted through the suite of rooms, emanating from the holo-tree. Yes, she could do this.
The temperature on Odessen was still warmer than she preferred for this holiday, but the evenings were getting crisp. Maybe she should grab a cup of hot cocoa from the commissary and head outside after dinner. If she was lucky, they’d have peppermint and either marshmallows or whipped cream.
The thought bolstered Sanna’s spirits and she held her head high as she strode purposefully into the hallway toward the War Room.
