watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.
like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.
#it’s just the. laura and travis’ characters always being supportive of one another when they’re facing hardship#taliesin and marisha consistently making characters who challenge one another and still protect each other relentlessly#all of them being so fond of ashley’s characters always and literally seeing them light up in c1 episodes when ash got to join in person#sam and liam always making characters who offer one another reprieves into kindness that they don’t always get in the campaign setting#liam making orym after falling in love with keyleth as vax#marisha making laudna after matt’s storytelling with delilah and choosing vex as her body double#ashley using ‘i would like to rage’ and matt having kord ask her where she finds her strength#laura and matt always weaving these deeply complicated and emotional interactions between a daughter and a father#the gasps and yells and clapping when matt makes cool sound effects or reveals a map or breaks/ends on a cliff hanger#them ending both campaign 1 and 2 with ‘what a great/nice story’ and travis saying ‘let’s do it again!’#and it’s like. yes yes i love the comics and i’m a fan of tlovm but . seeing this well produced thing that somehow mimics#the feeling i get sitting in my living room laughing with my roommates about my ranger’s giant rat failing to climb stairs#it’s very special it’s very sweet#critical role#sdcc 2023#taliesin jaffe#travis willingham#marisha ray#ashley johnson#liam o’brien#matthew mercer#laura bailey#sam riegel#cr cast#critical role cast#my posts

Legend of Korra: Tahnorra Private Lessons
Just because you lost your bending, doesn't mean you've lost your fight.
Korra and Tahno find themselves coping with the loss of their bending in a mutually destructive way. They can't probend; but they can still train, they can still fight. There's no ref in the arena to tell them how hard they're allowed to punch or kick or bite— Every shot counts as long as it lands.

New Adult SF thriller about a revenge-driven girl and the mecha-jousting tournament she's pulled in to. I would have liked some more depth to the worldbuilding, or to get more time to flesh out any of the characters, but it's got a good page-turning writing style and the ideas Wolf is borrowing from come together to make a great spectacle. I can really see this as starting from an awesome image of two giant mechas clashing in space by breaking lances against each other; the rest of the story is a bit flat, but those moments are really evocative. There are some warnings for bodily trauma, suicide, and other serious subjects, which are handled well even in the heightened sensationalism of the rest of the writing.
My biggest complaint is that we rush through the world, hopping from joust to joust without ever getting a sense that anything else exists as more than a backdrop… And then the book just ends, to be continued in a sequel; we don't get to the finals of the tournament (she's just qualified), we don't get any romantic resolution (they've talked maybe four times and there's no commitment there), we've discovered a mystery we didn't know at the start of the book (this book draws a lot on Evangelion) but it's only to set up the conflict of the next, and she hasn't even felt a way about the amount of revenge she's gotten so far. So it's hard to recommend - if you're in the 'new adult' category it's passable SF and good emotional adventure, but there's not a lot of meat for anyone looking for depth, and it doesn't even close up well enough to be satisfactory with what we've gotten so far.

will you vcontinue ache?
Yes, I can! Please enjoy!
Part 1
Warnings: head injury, unconsciousness, unclear character status
"Right Hand! Right Hand!" Supervillain as they raced along with Villain in their arms. "HELP!" They roared when their henchman failed to appear.
"You called, boss?" Right Hand poked their head out from the med bay. "Oh! What happened?"
"I don't know. But we need to figure it out!" Supervillain deposited Villain carefully on a bed in the med bay. Villain continued to take loud, wet, gasping breaths.
"Did they say anything to you? How long have they been unconscious? Who did this?"
"They said their head hurt." Supervillain scrubbed their face as they tried to remember everything that had come to pass in the short time since Villain sat down next to them. "They passed out only a few minutes ago. Hero...I don't know what Hero did to them."
"Help me get the scanners. Since we don't know what's happened, we have to run full diagnostics."
Supervillain nodded, their eyes not leaving Villain's slack features. "What do you need?"
"Get the scanners from that wall. I'll take this wall."
Supervillain quickly busied themself with finding something, anything, that could help Villain. Right Hand was clearly doing the same thing on the other side of the med bay. Both the villain and henchman were so busy trying to gather supplies that they failed to notice the room had fallen silent as Villain stopped gasping for air.

I'm a fan of Hazbin Hotel, but man does it have writing problems. I watched episode 5 and 6 yesterday and I think that if they did episode 3 differently it could've made episode 5 make more sense. Let me explain.
**Spoilers from here on, so if you haven't seen it and you wanna watch it yourself first then don't continue.**
Ngl guys. Episode 3 was a mess. I won't go into all the details, but I was just disappointed. To sum my thoughts up, I think Vaggie's arc should've been about her learning to trust people, they shouldn't have revealed who killed the angel; Camilla being the angel killer is kind of boring imo; and I don't care about the emotional ballad because I have no reason to care about Camilla or Vaggie's low point because it comes out of nowhere.
Now we're gonna talk about Charlie and Alastor in episode 5 because honestly what is going on??? Alastor hates Lucifer the second he walks in the door and immediately starts trying to act like he and Charlie have like a father/daughter dynamic and he's suddenly really protective of her even though this dynamic/type of relationship between the two has never been established before??? And I don't think he's just doing it to piss of Lucifer either. Like he's way protective over Charlie all of a sudden and judging by the song Alastor and Lucifer sing together, he's like maybe jealous of him or sees him as a threat??? Idk, guys, it's weird and I have no idea what the fuck is going on or why here. They barely have any screen time together and none of the interactions they have up until this point implies a more developed relationship than when he first started with the hotel. There could be a reason that we don't know yet especially with the connection between Lillith and Alastor that has been drawn before, but that does not expain this weird dynamic with Charlie that hasn't been established. This is my biggest qualm with episode 5. So how could episode 3 have changed this?
Episode 3 has Charlie entrust Vaggie with doing trust exercises, but Vaggie is not a very trusting person in general. She doesn't trust most of the people in the hotel even; especially Alastor. Since Vaggie is supposed to be running the trust exercises, Charlie doesn't really have anything to do except watch her, but what if she was somewhere else? You know what the ultimate trust exercise would be for Vaggie's character? The one person she holds dear accompanying an incredibly powerful and terrifying demon overlord on his day out with just the two of them. Vaggie's plot with the hotel gang would be her spying on Alastor and Charlie. She'd force the hotel gang to help her.
Now to focus more on the Alastor issue, Charlie asks Alastor if she can join him on his day out since she fully trusts that Vaggie can handle doing some trust exercises with the rest of the gang. At first Alastor says no and explains that he's got a very important meeting to attend today, but then Charlie shows him her power to turn into a tiny snake and tells him that no one will even notice that it's her (her dad could do it so why not her?) She also adds that if the people he's meeting with have anymore information about the extermination that it's important for her to know. Alastor caves and they head off. They have some banter on the way until Zestial shows up and talks with Alastor. Charlie is hiding in one of Alastor's jacket pockets (or maybe even just chilling on his shoulder since she's disguised as a snake.) until they get to the meeting with the other overlords.
After said meeting, we don't get to know who killed the angel. That whole scene with Zestial and Camilla is scrapped for this as well as the song. The meeting makes her realize just how dire the situation is with the knowledge that angels can be killed and that demons can kill them. Not only that, but the Vs, who control many parts of the media of hell, now know that and could release the information at anytime and start a violent revolt or even a war before she can prove that there doesn't need to be one. She feels scared and almost defeated after this, but Alastor comforts her saying he doesn't think redemption is possible, but if anyone can prove him and the rest of the worlds wrong, it's Charlie. Maybe they even sing a song together. Maybe she even talks about the troubles she has with her dad with him, hence why he doesn't like him immediately in episode 5.
After this moment, Vaggie, who has been spying on them almost the whole time, realizes that maybe she should be more trusting of people. Charlie finds her and the gang spying on them and concludes that Vaggie needs to do some trust exercises. The whole ordeal has brought everyone in the group closer together. They go back to the hotel where Charlie has Vaggie do the trust fall from the beginning of the episode. Vaggie, with baited breath and eyes closed, falls backwards. When she lands she thinks it must've been Charlie that caught her, but when she opens her eyes she's been caught by everyone arms including Alastor's. The only one who didn't catch her was Charlie who had her eyes closed the whole time trusting her friends to catch her.
They laugh about it and have some silly banter. Alastor watching them all laughing, looks at Charlie. She's still clearly shaken by the meeting. He gives Charlie a smile and reassuring hand on the shoulder looks to the gang all laughing together and says, "See, dear? You're already starting to prove me wrong." (or something like that) Charlie grins back at him and hugs him tightly as he begrudgingly, but also kind of not begrudgingly, lets her hug him and doesn't push her away. She lets go and joins the group followed by Alastor. The episode ends.
TL;DR: Allowing Alastor and Charlie to bond in episode 3 would've really helped episode 5 imo andd episode 3 had a perfect set up for that to happen. I still think even with this little fix you'd have to build up this dynamic more for it to really work tbh, but it's possible. Anyways, there's my little ramble. I do wanna know what y'all think of it, so if you have thoughts lemme know.

wip wed 7-10 Beach
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@eriquin
“Where in the Nine Realms are we Mobius?” Loki asked, looking at their surroundings in disdain.
“You said you wanted to go to a beach,” Mobius replied in a chipper tone, clearly proud of himself. He placed his hands on his fists and took a deep, exaggerated breath. “Just smell that fresh sea air.”
@gnomer-denois
“Mobius,” Loki sighed, his fingers coming up to pinch between his eyebrows, “you know very well that this was not what I meant. I meant a… a beach! A proper beach! With sand and palm trees and tourists in stupid migardian clothing. Somewhere where we could relax in the sun and drink alcohol with little umbrellas in them and you could finally get to ride a jet ski!”
“I know.” Mobius’s dumb grin softened into something a little more real and he walked over to put a hand on Loki’s shoulder. “But, now that the timeline isn’t quite so sacred and the TVA isn’t imminently about to explode, we have literally all the time in the universe to go wherever and whenever we want. I’ll get to ride a jetski someday, don’t worry about me.”
“I do worry about you. This was meant to be a reward for both of us,” Loki told him, reaching up a hand to squeeze Mobius’s elbow in reply to his touch. “We saved the universe, Mobius.”
@agent-p-94
“Well, you did,” Mobius interjected.
“And I couldn’t have done it without you,” Loki bulldozed right on stubbornly, ignoring Mobius’s constant attempts to belittle his part in everything that had happened. “Point is, we deserve some R and R.”
“Hey, do I look unrelaxed?” Mobius asked, releasing Loki’s arm to give a little shrug.
“I suppose… though you have yet to explain why we are here exactly.”
@aparticularbandit
Loki looked at their surroundings. It was technically a beach, in that it was a place where the land met the ocean, but it was more of a rocky cliff side than a gentle knoll. It was grey and depressing, though he supposed there was something to be said for the open space.
Loki breathed in a deep breath of the fresh air. The TVA wasn't stuffy per se, but it was stagnant. Having no proper flow of time left it feeling eerily still. Now, Loki enjoyed the breeze on the back of his neck, the warmth of the sun trying to peek through grey clouds. It may not have been the beach he’d envisioned, but it was certainly better than a time loop. He’d lived those same few days over and over for so long that it was nice to just look at something new.
@anachronismstellar
“Right,” Mobius hedged, thumbing his lower lip in thought. It was a nervous tick that he’d picked up from Loki – though from the current version of him that Mobius knew now or from the countless hours Mobius had spent researching the sacred timeline version of him, Loki couldn’t say.
“Mobius, what is this? Why are you being cagey?” Loki demanded.
“I’m not being cagey. I’m being…” he paused and squinted his eyes while he searched for the right word. Loki raised an eyebrow, unimpressed, but dutifully waited. Finally, Mobius settled on, “delicate.”
@kidsomeday
“Delicate.”
“Yeah, Delicate. I’m trying to, you know, ease you into it.”
“We’ll you’re failing. You aren’t being delicate; you’re being weird. It’s freaking me out. So, whatever it is. Just tell me already. I’m sure I can handle it.”
“Right, right. You’re Loki, you can handle anything.” Mobius rolled his eyes fondly and Loki huffed.
“Exactly,” he said, crossing his arms impatiently, and not because he was cold. Frost giants and Gods did not get chilly on Asgardian beaches. “So?” He prompted.

Sharing Pie
A bit of writing based on @aaytaro-gt ‘s Inktober prompt list.
Day 8 - Dessert
Bit of a sequel to Sharing Acorns.
==
“You didn’t!”
“Oh, I did.”
Jane and Marigold were once again in the autumn clearing, this time on a massive blanket Jane had brought with her. The forest had blurred enough for them to meet again, and so Jane had brought a surprise.
Marigold’s eyes were on the massive dish her friend had brought to show, and hopefully share!
“A pumpkin pie!” She hopped to her feet, staggering across the wrinkled folds of the blanket towards the dessert. “An absolutely massive pumpkin pie!”
“It’s not that big…” Jane replied, but Marigold could easily see her own excitement bleeding into her friend's expression. A face as big as a billboard was easy to read!
“Well, it's huge to me! I can’t imagine how long it would take my mom to make one like this, she’d probably have a heart attack just thinking about it!” She leaned on the edge of the ceramic plate, breathing in the sweet aroma of the pie.
It smelled wonderful.
Jane giggled, reaching an arm into the bag she’d brought with her. “Well, it wasn’t that hard to make, but I'm glad you like it.” She pulled out a plate, a fork, and a knife; Marigold’s smile grew, locking onto the smiling face of her friend.
“Want a slice?”
Marigold threw her hands up. “What kind of question is that? Of course I’d like a slice!”
“Well then,” Jane said, cutting into the giant dish like it was nothing, “I better make sure you get a big piece.”
Mari rubbed her hands together as the massive slice was lowered onto the plate, right next to her. Jane cut herself a thinner slice, flicking her hair back as she took a bite, motioning with a grin for Marigold to dig in.
She’d brought her own utensils, thankfully, so she wouldn't need to scoop the pie with her hands. Not that she didn’t want to physically dig into the pie, she desperately wanted to, but she’d have to drive home covered in giant food.
It wouldn’t be a pleasant drive, or an easy cleanup.
They both dug in, and it was fantastic. Marigold, of course, didn’t finish her’s: it was at least four times her size if not four times her weight. Jane happily finished it for her though.
“How did you like it?”
Marigold lay back on the blanket, completely stuffed. “It was fantastic. Best pie I’ve ever had, even if the texture was a bit… big.” She held her arms in the air, miming the size.
Jane’s gaze was pulled away from her, looking up towards the trees. “Oh, guess our time is up again, trees are blurring…”
Mari sighed, sitting up to look at the red and gold trees as they began to blur, the familiar size of her own trees breaking apart from the much larger trees of Jane’s world.
“Well, thank you for the pie, it was great! I’ll have to bring something like that next time, I’ll have to make it big though!” She laughed at the last part as she stood up on the blanket, grinning at her giant friend.
“I look forward to it.” Jane returned, looking back down at Mari for a moment with a smile before they both returned their gazes to the treeline as the blurring approached the extreme, and faded.
Marigold’s brow furrowed, and she stared at the still too large trees. What happened? Why were the trees still big? She was still on the blanket, and Jane was still here and looked just as confused as she felt.
“Mari? You’re still…” They looked at each other in astonishment. Marigold bit her lip, glancing towards the massive treeline before looking up at Jane with an unsteady smile.
“I guess I missed my ride?”
