     HOW LONG has it been since they last saw each other? Long, too long - she can tell it even if she hasn’t been counting the days.The golden flames that burnt inside her eyes as soon as she saw Gaia again haven’t been smothered by the sudden display of affection; on the contrary, it only fueled them. Chris lets Gaia hold her, and she lets herself sink into their embrace, enjoying their warmth - both physical and spiritual. So long, too long, but in the end, it was worth the wait. 

     Gaia’s fingers brush against her hair, but for once Chris doesn’t flinch nor paralyzes under someone else’s touch. She’s too happy, brimming with so much love that for a moment she forgets the feeling of her real Mother’s hands tugging at her hair, not caring about all the kinds of pain she was infliction to her daughter. Chris leans against Gaia, her head resting on their shoulder, her smile so wide, so shiny, so beautiful and blinding like the dawn. She enjoys their display of affection and returns the favor with pleasure. Pale hands cling to Gaia’s clothes as Chris presses herself against them, as if to make her love pass from her body to theirs. Only after a while does she pull herself away from Gaia, but only to look them in the eye. Her hands stay around their chest - an embrace she doesn’t have the heart to put to an end just yet. “I missed you so much! Where have you been?”

          His feigned pain would earn the smallest of smiles, not one they’d dare wear, but rather a simple gleam of eerily blue eyes. They found many human behaviors interesting, but sarcasm had to be a personal favorite, especially when worn by one so clearly incapable of taking any sort of offense. And why would he, he who despised any of a godly status ? While they may have personally not viewed their being as a ’ god ’ ( they were much too old, too different ), it would appear the other saw their status as just that. Well, no matter. “ If I were to state what I dislike about you, I wonder if you’d deny it, or agree it to be true ? ” Neutral expression would take on a mocking smile.

“ What can I say, I simply have never been able to deal with those like you. You say Gods coddled humans too much, but don’t you treat them in a similar way ? You may not have a hand in everything they do, but you certainly adore them in a fashion rather close to those you hate so. ” Rather than say Gaia was ill prepared at tolerating those who watched over and defended humanity so closely, it’d be more appropriate to say they couldn’t understand why. They couldn’t see the reason for one just barely human to take it upon themselves to almost care for mortals. For as far as they were concerned, the only one with such a ( loathsome ) task was them, and them alone.

zhang jun knew full well how dusty old tomes could be / but it certainly wasn’t expected from one of gaia’s books. he would have thought perhaps a little dust, but he forgets that these were ancient spellbooks, ones that she’s had buried & decided to share with the ( young ) witch. coughing to remove dust from lungs, a hand waved back & forth in dismissal. ‘ i’m fine, just a bit surprised. ’ the dead witch often forgets that gaia is far older than he / the earth beneath his feet was probably younger than she. 

clearing his throat, jun once again opens the book, careful not to create a dust explosion again. eyes scanned the text, flipping gently through the pages full of new information before turning to another. ‘ where did you happen to get these? they seem like they would have belonged to quite the scholar, this one even has a few notes, plus they’re in excellent condition. ’ gaze breaks from the pages to turn & look at the deity. maybe he should create a bookshelf with a protective glass to keep these in, or find a spell to make sure they say in top-shape while not in use.

          “ That’s a very good question ! As well as one I’m likely to have trouble with remembering. ” A hollow chuckle would leave the old one. It wasn’t that remembering was hard per se, but rather Gaia preferred to not think too far back, least she recall other things she’d rather not. And the old tome in his hands was one with many, many memories attached to it, both fond and foul.

" As the Ancient spoke they'd walk closer to Jun, hands outstretching to gently touch the writings on it, a flash of an affectionate smile on their face. " As fingers would draw away from the well kept yet old paper, Gaia's gaze would grow distant as well. Such terrible things memories were, how wretched even the smallest bit of nostalgia felt. Not even a being as powerful as them was able to stop the hands of time or death. " I hope you'll find it useful. " Regaining their composure, shoving aside far off memories, they'd offer a small smile to the witch.

summoning gods as servants is already pretty dang hard and rare, but summoning a being from before the age of gods ??? Even Harder and the only one you're gonna get is Gaia since they're the only one that old with connections to human history.

it's not that summoning Gaia is that hard, it's just that very few even know of their existence, of their original myth since it’s been who knows how long since their tale was last known.

when they are summoned they're typically of the Ruler class, their power and neutrality to anyone/thing something highly valued for said class. they claim they could be summoned in the Caster class though.

due to the way HGW work and the fact they're essentially battle royales, Gaia is ten times more bitter and snarky than usual. they find the wars pointless and something only humans would ever be dumb enough to do.

          “ Then what would you have me do ? Wish upon Gods like a human ? Pray that God listens to me like you once did ? ” Inconceivable. Gods hardly ever listened to the wishes and prayers of humanity, let alone grant those very prayers, so why would they dare listen to a being like them ? And even if they did perhaps catch wind of their prayers, it wasn’t like any of them would / could help. Gaia never had the best relationships with other divine outside of their own, only a handful actually had something akin to a ’ friendship ’ with the ancient deity, otherwise most simply respected them. Respect in the world of divinity was no different than that of a sense of professionalism, politeness, a simple courtesy that never guaranteed you got along with another.

gaia gets a lot of their bad traits ( i.e pettiness, brutal honesty, general grade a grump behavior ) from being more or less raised by jupiter upon being reborn and poor juju not having the vaguest idea how to interact with something that’s the equivalent of a child. the only thing they didn’t get from jupiter was a habit of cheating in order to protect a rep. everyone secretly knows belongs to saturn but are too nice to let them know that.

' can you tell me another story? '

          “ Another one ? Haven’t you grown tired yet of this ancient one’s tales ? Ah, well I suppose another story won’t hurt. ” They needed to remind themselves that many of the Ancient’s legends and stories had long been forgotten to mortals, tales that had become only half remembered ( if remembered at all ) or been chopped up and thrown into another’s story. History never remained a hundred percent intact, and that was a fact Gaia had quickly learned a long time ago. Another reason for them being so unknown was largely due to the fact so many took place when the galaxy was inhabited only by Gaia and their kin, no Gods to be found and humans most certainly not yet even a concept.

“ Have you ever wondered why Saturn has rings forever encircling them ? Or why Jupiter has a giant red spot ? There is a story I was once told, something that took place before the me of now was completely reborn. Supposedly they’d gotten into a fight, a dreadsome and chaotic battle that none of our kin could stop, not even our Creators dared to step between them ! “ It was no secret to the Ancients that Jupiter and Saturn were some of the most powerful of their pantheon. Jupiter was similar to a God of Destruction, while Saturn was like a calm beast, serene and peaceful, but just as terrifying. And a fight between beings so godlike ? In an era where no one but themselves existed ? To put it in human terms, a fight like that was like one with no holds barred.

“ Sometime near the end of their fight, Jupiter had gouged a hole into their own form, throwing a piece of their body at Saturn, an underhanded tactic to avoid defeat. That’s why Juju has a red spot on them. As for Saturn’s rings, they’d been hit with fragments of another being very similar to them, so while most of what you’d call ‘ blood ‘ didn’t stick to them, fragments did. So Saturn actually doesn’t have rings of asteroids, but rather a ring of blood. “ Gaia doubted much of that story made any sense, and they were sure parts of it were incorrect ( they’d been told it by Mercury afterall, an Ancient with a particular savvy for telling the oddest tales they could ), but they hoped it didn’t sound too odd.
