well, I can't say I expected the new chapter to feature Idia (metaphorically) going to (metaphorical) hell, getting a pep talk from his (metaphorical) Phantom brother which helps him finally move on once and for all from his brother's death, and (metaphorically) overblotting again to fight his way back out of (metaphorical) hell, only to have his darkest fear (non-metaphorically) come true when his mom goes through his computer and finds all his secret files. but I am glad it did!

also this is all a flashback for the purpose of explaining to our group what the heck is going on (whether or not any of it is getting through is another matter)

I was once again thinking about this goofy Luffy moment after his Lucci punch™ and i had to see it frame by frame.

first the force of it throws them both away, and while Lucci is seen on screen tumbling for a long moment, Luffy is just away in a blink of an eye.

and then his funny scene - his legs are like jelly that he tries to get under control,

he stumbles, falls, rolls into a mix of all his limbs and eyes,

and then only the cloud behind him cushions his fall

- which would be interesting if he can subconsciously control that while he tries to regain the control over his movements - that the environment around him still adapts to his awakened Devil Fruit abilities and morphs to help him. Where others would probably fall through that cloud, for Luffy that cloud backs him up like a trampoline.

It's just fascinating!

What's your opinion on visual novels/interactive fiction? Have you ever thought about how one would potentially work for Castoff (even if you have no goal to actually make one)?

I've considered doing a visual novel for other stories, but I don't think I'd do one for Castoff. It's already a comic. I like it being a comic :>

But I do have other stories in mind I was considering a visual novel for, or even just a regular/light novel. Mostly because they'd involve way less work. I love comics but they take a thousand years.

My one thing with visual novels though is that I haven't played many, so I'm not sure what the expectations are. Can I just... make a VN with one storyline instead of a branching one? Would people care?? All the VNs I've seen have branching stories, or at LEAST a good/bad end, but I don't knowwwwww

the thing about writing fanfic is that is indulgent and it is full of fan service and that is GOOD. i am crawling into characters' mindsets and pulling out character development and complex arcs and making them kiss each other and dropping all of the unsubtle references and allusions to mythology in the process and tormenting them in order to give them catharsis and y'all EAT THAT SHIT UP (but as a writer SO DO I)
