The average cost of business desktops that I sell at work is $700-$900; these are devices that I would give an anticipated lifespan of 7 years, with hardware upgrades planned at 5 years. This is for a mid-range desktop with a 3-year next business day onsite warranty, no software, and does not include the cost of tax, shipping, or configuration. The cost of labor can come close to the cost of the machine for configuration. If I were *PERSONALLY* deploying these machines (pulling them out of the box, debloating, creating profiles, installing software, reboxing, transporting to the site, installing and connecting to peripherals) I'd probably charge around $200-300 per device. My work charges a lot more. Because of that, a 1500 computer is quite likely to be a 700 computer with three hours of estimated labor. If you've got an in-house IT department and aren't going to be paying through the nose for setup, you can get *a lot* of business-class computer for $1500.

If someone at work asked me for a $1500 computer, I would assume that was the cost of the machine ONLY, no peripherals, no configuration, no installation, no software, though I would try to consider both tax and our markup and would look for devices that would maximize performance while under-but-close-to the mark. If I found something that was slightly over (say by up to $70), I would drop our markup to get closer to the client's budget.

What this means for YOU, the computer consumer, is that when you're looking at a computer you need to consider the following in your budget, NOT just the sticker price.

Setup Cost (if you're not doing it yourself)

Shipping Cost

Tax

Peripherals (computers almost all come with a mouse and a keyboard, these are usually inexpensive but very sturdy; if you want a nice keyboard and an ergonomic mouse you have to buy your own)

Whether you will LOSE peripherals when you replace your current device - do you need to buy an external optical disk drive if your old machine had a CD drive but the new machine doesn't?

Those things can add hundreds of dollars to your total cost, so figure out how much that will be so that you can figure out what your ACTUAL budget for your computer is.

(Also your computer shouldn't be plugged directly into the wall; if you're getting ready to replace a machine and you don't already own a desktop UPS, a desktop UPS should be part of the cost of your next machine!)

Psychers in Simulacra have their own defining traits, specifics of their function and lore, - that make them distinct and different from the characters in @signfromeywa 's AU.

Credit where credit is due, - Simulacra is made unique and regognizable by so many more things than a singular design element of "human+" type characters.

Myself and @space-blue did not get into this before Simulacra AU owners began attacking @signfromeywa without asking any questions, and without believing her when she patiently presented evidence of her character design's roots.

We made own our takes on the "white suit cyborg metahuman" trope to show that behaivior like yours should not have power over anyone.

Also, you fixating on @signfromeywa shipping her self-insert character with Quaritch is utterly bizarre. Oh, she has other ships? So? Have you ever in your life noticed how hot Quaritch is, lmfao?

I have not "erased traces" of my Simulacra times, I post that one recom guy I designed while at it quite often. The one time I made concept art of a psycher, when I was still on Simu. I wasn't happy with the artwork itself so I have probably deleted it, also the character idea ringed too "generic twink dude idk" to me to lol.

Because no one is trying to take it. While I am no-contact with Simu owners for personal reasons, I appreciate and respect it for what it is creatively.

I have no desire to replicate psychers or the Simulacra world, as I have my own preferences and ideas, and think copying is honorless and boring as shit.

White suits are to say:

an AU is more than one commonplace sci-fi trope mostly coined by Japanese Cyberpunk media, then inspiring many western medias ad well.

I really want you to know we are not conspiring on "making Simulacra 2.0", - that is stuff you've assumed and then presented as truth to your echo chamber.

@signfromeywa 's AU isn't the same as yours, and isn't even trying to be.

Mine and @space-blue 's OCs for said AU are made in our personal taste for the "cyber spine" seen in Ava.

I got accused of stealing the design form Ava from other artists, coz she has a white suit on and red curls. I proofed afterwards with a statement that she exsisted LONG before I joined the Avatar fandorm. But they don't stop talking openly about my name in bad manners, dragging my name to the mud. So here is my open statement I posted on bluesky already:

Just want to say: I see you, and I see your bullying behavior towards me. How you speak about me being evil while you call me a copycat and an entitled European. You step on me even though I just PROVED that my OC is not stolen. You never stop, even a person is already on the ground. You are evil. I'm not going to stop drawing a character in a white Lab coat just because these people don't like it. I can only advise you: if you see people publicly trashing other people, keep your distance from them. Don't support bullying. I didn't do anything wrong by having my character wear a white suit in a sci-fi franchise. It's a common trope in sci-fi, just like Ghost in the Cell and Alita: Battle Angel—just examples. Pinterest is full of such examples. So why shouldn't I have a character with a white suit? It's obvious in a sci-fi movie. Why can't my character have red curls to look like me? Gale ships that I hate.

I’m getting back into writing (slowly) now that my mental health has improved. And I’m going to stick with (mostly) Gale x Readers (but other companions x readers too), but I’m going to maybe try and write some companion ships I have. None of which include Gale, but I thought why not take the opportunity to throw the opinions I have that nobody asked for into a community that will eat me alive.

Any onto my opinions:

It’s shallow and I’ve seen too many straight women fetishizing gay men with this ship. Not to mention the sure toxicity that this ship following has. (Of course not everyone is like this, I know).

Astarion and Gale have next to nothing in common, and completely different morals. I won’t go too much into detail, but here’s a post that somebody else made that conveys my own opinion.

Obviously ship whatever you want, idc I’m just expressing my opinion.

I can’t believe this is even a thing?? Minthara is awful towards Gale and people are like, yeah that’s a healthy relationship and so very cute. You are basically putting him in a toxic relationship with (almost) another Mystra.

I also just hate Minthara in general. Recruited her one time, hated it, and never will again.

what moment in schitt's creek do you think shows the most growth in david as a character?

Hello! Thank you for the ask! I've been thinking about this one for a while, because David's journey is such an amazing thing to behold. He grows in so many facets of his life over the course of the series, so I think it's really hard to choose a moment where we see The Most growth.

One thing that strikes me about David early on, though, is his loneliness. He isn't a particularly self-centered person when we first meet him, at least not moreso than the other Roses. He's a little aloof. Entitled. Snippy. But he's also generous, and he's never outright unkind. When asked for his help, he pretty much always gives it freely, with only mild complaining.

But David is also really cut off from others. We see how reticent he is to spend time with people he doesn't know well. We know that he has no contact with any of his old friends. We see how his relationships with Stevie and then with Jake blow up in his face.

Fast forward to season 6. David has finally found love. And he's getting married!! But then Patrick says he wants to have a baby??? Record scratch, freeze frame, etc.

Prior to The Premiere, we've seen David agree to move in together when he thought it's what Patrick wanted. We've seen him try to set Patrick up with some random because he thought it would keep Patrick from having regrets later. We've seen him joke(?) that it's too late for Patrick to back out of the marriage when he finds out something embarrassing about David’s family.

I believe old David would've tried to do damage control on the baby thing. Maybe he would've never brought it up, hoping (correctly) that Patrick was too high to remember saying it, and that it would just go away on its own. Maybe he would've hinted at a slim possibility he'd be open to the idea of children. Maybe he would've even offered looking into adoption to appease Patrick, knowing all the while it'd be a huge mistake.

I don't mean to imply David was ever manipulative or dishonest in his relationships. What I'm saying is, there was a time that David was so lonely, I believe he would've done anything to have what he now has with Patrick, including compromising his own wishes for himself. In fact, the first time I watched it, I expected the baby conflict to be dragged out a little more. I expected more hand-wringing, at the very least.

By the events of The Premiere, though, that isn't who David is anymore. He values himself. He values Patrick. He knows he is worthy of love exactly as he is, that he shouldn't have to compromise any part of himself. And he knows that he can't commit to a life with Patrick if they want different things.

So he talks about it with Patrick immediately. He's honest about what he does and doesn't want. He's open about his concern that Patrick might feel differently. He doesn't shy away from the conversation, even though he knows it might mean the end of their relationship.

And what's more, when Patrick assures David that they're on the same kid free page, he takes him at his word. He trusts Patrick because he trusts them; he trusts their relationship.

Would the David of earlier seasons have even been capable of that level of trust? Would he have been able to reconcile his doubt so quickly? Thanks to the work David has already done on himself, he's secure enough in his own skin to be the loving partner we see in those final episodes.

Now that's some growth.

had a really funny thought about bruce/danny/talia the other day

so older danny gets mixed up in the league for whatever reason, and ends up in a relationship with talia and raises damian with her. he ends up going with damian when he gets sent to bruce and bruce is kind of stunned you know. cause like. surprise son and his surprise stepfather sent for safekeeping by your ex. and eventually danny and bruce get together bc danny is... very compelling. bruce batnip, one could say. of course talia shows back up eventually and it's awkward cause you and your ex are both in love with the same guy. only for the guy to go "well, yall could always share?" and danny & damian end up in split custody between bruce and talia lol

Some ways that David loves Patrick:

Agrees to host an open mic night in the store and allows Patrick to sing to him in front of everyone even though that kind of attention is wayyyyy outside his comfort zone

Puts on an elaborate lip synch performance for Patrick where anyone could see them just to say he's sorry (did I mention how much that kind of attention is outside his comfort zone?)

Despite having only said 'I love you' to his parents and Mariah Carey, he says it back to Patrick almost right away. Really cannot overstate how big that is. He's NEVER said it. To anyone who wasn't his direct progenitor or Mariah. Ever. It could have taken him days or weeks or months to prepare himself for that kind of a first. It could have taken him the rest of his life. Instead, he gets there in, like, 30 minutes. Because it's Patrick.

Encourages Patrick to seek out experiences with other men because he thinks it's what's best for Patrick, even though it isn't necessarily what he himself wants

Plays baseball because Patrick needs a body (and yes, also for the barbecue, but largely for Patrick)

Throws a surprise party for him, even though he thinks they're awful, because Patrick has always wanted one

Gives him flowers for his birthday

Instantly sets aside his own hurt feelings in order to help Patrick navigate coming out to his parents, and even offers to pretend they aren't together in order to protect him

For that matter, confronts Patrick's parents on his own--despite never having met them before--to make sure they're not about to break his boyfriend's heart

Recognizes how upset Patrick is on the hike, apologizes for his behavior, thanks Patrick for his thoughtfulness, pushes him to keep going, and carries him up a freaking mountain! And he does all this despite having no idea WHY this hike is so damn important to Patrick, just that it IS important to him

Takes care of Patrick after his oral surgery. (I feel like this is a service David would perform for very few people.)

Completely lights up when Patrick walks into the winery with Johnny to pick up him and Moira because drunk!David has zero chill

Enthusiastically participates in an escape room because Patrick likes them, even though, again, he thinks they're objectively awful

Offers Patrick half a comfort muffin when he gets upset about NYC. (This may not seem like much, but we know enough about David to recognize that giving up a baked good is a sacrifice that he'd only make for like 3, maybe 4 people on the planet.)

"I don't wanna be anywhere you don't wanna be"

Sets aside his expectations for his wedding with very little complaining and goes along with the new plan, because he recognizes that at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that he's marrying the man he loves

Stays in SC because "my husband is here." Yes, he's got the store, and Stevie, but ultimately David gives up the idea of what his life was supposed to be and chooses, happily, the life he's building with Patrick instead

Maybe the way David loves isn't as apparent to some people, but it's there if you pay attention. He can be selfish and stubborn and aloof at times, but when you spend years building these walls and all this carefully crafted armor to protect yourself, it's hard to let someone else in. Letting yourself be uncomfortable for them, letting yourself be vulnerable with them, putting their comfort and safety and happiness ahead of your own, when you've been on the defensive for so long, takes a tremendous amount of effort. It's the biggest act of love you can possibly make. I think David’s journey of learning to open himself up to others is one of the best arcs on the show, and much of that is shown through his relationship with Patrick.

(Feel free to add your fave David ❤️s Patrick moments btw. I'm sure I've left some out.)

People always talk about how much Patrick loves David, which is so true, but I think David's love for Patrick is worth pointing out too! Even the way they kiss - David very rarely just kisses Patrick. There's always a ton of affection behind it. And I swear there's a scene pre-relationship where Patrick walks into the store, and you see David smile for about two seconds before turning away. David isn't so much about the words, that's Patrick's arena, but damn if that man doesn't love Patrick Brewer from day one.

i'll be SO honest i wish i had like. insightful interesting opinions on them but i've always been a Young Justice kid and sort of. breezed past consuming Fab Five Teen Titans content-

but of what i *do* know, from the few comics i've read with these characters is this is one of the best ships for Dick, honestly. it always deeply annoys me when fanon content breezes past the Titans as if they're just some distant teammates and not some of Dick's closest friends, if not a second family. *especially* the Fab Five. for most, if not all of them, it's the first time getting to actually connect with other teen heroes. so there's something fun about how sort of terrible they are at it, at first. they all care about each other a lot. but they're kind of chucked into the deep figuring out how to work with each other and get along with *very* different personalities, so it's fun to see where the conflict comes.

as a ship, i do really love it. the Titans are a family. like we call a lot of teams found families, but for the Fab Five, that shit is the truest. they depend on each other and trust each other. when Dick and Bruce are on outs and Bruce fires him, he goes to the Titans.

i also enjoy how, to an extent, all of them are outsiders of some kind. Donna is alone in a new world she's never experienced, the same as Garth. Roy is still new and awkward to living the rich life with Oliver. Wally doesn't connect to his parents well. and of course, Dick has lost his parents and only has Bruce, who isn't the most emotionally available. of course they're going to cling to each other, as the first people they can really develop connections too. they're very clingy with each other and i think that's both cute and *fun* to explore like, codependency issues with them. how protective they can be of each other, how they default to trusting each other over their mentors, etc. it's all very interesting for a polycule, especially since for most of them, it's their first real relationship. i'm a big fan of "none of us know what dating looks like bc we've had such strange childhoods so we don't understand the Rules very well. we're all just going to date each other bc why would i date only one of you. do teamups count as dates now." vibes with teenage polycules. and the Fab Five just. have that on lock. they each fulfill a different "niche" in the group. Garth is the softer, more emotional one you can go to if you're upset. Donna is the one for planning bright fun trips and making sure you don't wallow. Roy is protective and can pretend to be suave, but he shows affection through gift giving and grand gestures where words fail him. Wally can cheer any of them up with jokes and distractions. and of course Dick is the logical one who makes sure they all keep their heads on and don't drown in the responsibility.

overall i think it's a really cute ship and i do wish i just. knew more about them to be able to write them/read fic of it because i do love their dynamic. and i'm just a firm believer in the Titans being Dick's family, just as important to him as the Batfam. they're a disaster and for that you gotta love them.
