Just saw a video complaining about the British!Thalia casting saying that “Rick isn’t being faithful enough to the books” but like??? Clearly her nationality just isn’t that important to the character?? Not all changes are bad and actually one (very small) issue I have with the books is that they’re too Americanised. Tamara is a great actress first and foremost, but it’s a perk that this change might actually make PJO more appealing to international audiences!! Much like how British characters are FREQUENTLY Americanised in adaptations to make it sell in America (e.g Anathema Device in Good Omens).
Thalia’s nationality is not core to her character in the books. In the grand scheme of things, it’s a very minor change. The show was never gonna be exactly how you imagined it anyway.
Also, for anyone wondering if this means we’ll get British!Jason? Not necessarily. Jason was raised at the Wolf House and then at Camp Jupiter, and Thalia was born six years before him and their mother could’ve easily moved to the US in that time. In fact a larger emphasis on the differences between the siblings could serve as a good metaphor for the Greek/Roman divide- and play into the fact that Jason is not quite the “All-American Golden Boy” that he seems and how he never seemed to fit with the expectations everyone had of him.
Also imagine how all these goofy British quirks would really throw a spanner in the works for Jason in TLH. Like there’s all this weird stuff with Roman gods and speaking latin but also? He’s got a British accent that seeps through when he’s caught off guard? Weird familiar feeling that drinking tea gives him? How cute and confused would he be as he’s trying to figure out where his “home” is and he keeps getting all these mixed signals? There’s potential here, guys!
I’ve got a post in the works about British!Jason hcs, but my point is that y’all should think about how much potential something has to be great before signing it off as rubbish.
I think the movies traumatised us, and now we all think “different = bad” but this might bring some positive change, and make some people in the audience feel a bit more included and represented.

I feel like if the twins had a youtube channel it would all be SPENDING 24 HOURS IN A HAUNTED WALMART baby slop content with them pogging in every thumbnail
Meanwhile Snotlouts channel would consist of rant videos where he complains about his life and shits on media he dislikes and overall it'd just be him being a bitter little hater

was relistening to malevolent s1 and the early jarthur are so funny
Like
they don't like each other, and they do not want to be together but the situations that keep happening to them are so bizarre, that they decide that it's maybe for the best that there is some other guy with them.
Arthur spends the whole season between being a detective and a scared wet kitten. In the second half of the season he gets his early stages of the murder phase, but it's probably nothing, it definitely won't affect anything, chill
Both Arthur and John know that John is probably some evil eldritch being, possibly a god, but John shows 1 case of human emotion and Arthur's father's instincts(they are not very good but they are here) are activated and he is ready to forgive John for everything. John is at first "haha I am so going to use this brit" - In the next second he is saying no to being a literal god in favor of being stuck with this pathetic human, said brit
John also is so funny, he has no memories and he has no idea where the fuck is he. He has some knowledge about the human world but not a lot, which leads him to kind of trusting Arthur to make decisions which is not his plan at all. He is trying and failing to manipulate Arthur. John is not human but there are some signs that he used to be human and he immediately jumps onto this chance. He asks to be called John and Arthur immediately agrees, which probably makes John emotional and maybe that's the reason he decided to stay with Arthur.
Both John and Arthur have NO IDEA what the fuck is going on, they just keep bouncing from one situation to another, and SOMEHOW Arthur got only like…5 scars. Why is he able to not get scars in s1 but not s5?
they also have no idea who the fuck are all those dead people who are somehow connected. All alive people they interact with are mad and want to kill them
Somehow they are alive at the end of the day
If we put s1 jarthur in season 5 they will probably survive. The biggest danger for them is them, the "fuck your eyes" divorce can always happen again. If we put s5 jarthur in season 1 they will either chill and relax or somehow end up dead, there is no in-between

People in this fandom who regurgitate content in search of a hit tweet or viral tiktok/reel so that you can legitimize yourself within the fan base please know that you’re the worst kind of fan and you’ll spend your life constantly seeking the validation of others but never truly feeling the acceptance or community you yearn for because you’re fake as hell.

sorry these recent Uccio quotes about Franky are killing me (for very different reasons)
“For example, in Qatar I remember saying ‘Frankie, you cannot push every lap in qualifying otherwise you will destroy the tyre…’ and he replied ‘But Uccio, I am a dreamer…’! "
“F**, it was a big, big crash and even after two months I looked him in the eyes and thought ‘this is not Morbidelli’. He was not 100%. At that moment I thought ‘hmm, maybe it is not easy to continue’ but I also thought he won’t stop.”

I’m still pissed at the team orders. So here’s a breakdown of why they really sucked and I hope McLaren works on there gestion because with how Oscar was reeling Lando in I don’t want to be kept from racing action by team orders anymore.
First I made a summary of what happened on the lap delta times graphic from RACEFANS if you don’t want to read the whole post, so thanks to them for the graph and compilation of team radios.
Tumblr media
Alright, now for how it went. Oscar had great pace and was slowly catching up on Lando, whether Lando was going full pace I’m not completely sure but I’d like to believe when a car gets within a second of you, you go all in to stay in front*.
On lap 28 Oscar was told about backmarkers being ahead. He keeps closing in on Lando knowing there will be traffic ahead and gets within DRS.
On lap 29 he’s told to hold position until they pass the backmarkers and transition to dry. First off, pretty unclear what “transition to dry” consists of, and second, couldn’t you have told him he’ll have to hold position before he killed his tires to reach Lando and get a chance to overtake? Like, ideally way earlier but at least on lap 28 when you told him about the backmarkers? So he could keep more juice in his tires for when he can go racing again?
I get the idea to delay the racing a bit to get safely through the backmarkers, but kind of a bitch move to kill his momentum so abruptly.
Then on lap 30 Lando and Oscar have both cleared the backmarkers, and that’s where people keep being confused because Oscar is not told he can start racing again, he actually asks if he has the go ahead now that the cars have been cleared and is told to hold position still. At this point he’s still within DRS range.
On lap 31 he makes the mistake in turn 6 that costs him the DRS.
And finally, on lap 32 he’s told he can start racing again. My issue is that I don’t get why we had to wait for lap 32. Why wasn’t lap 30 a good moment to go again, with the backmarkers behind? Even if they wanted a bit of a gap to those cars, why wasn’t lap 31 fine? No, they really waited for when he wasn’t a threat anymore to say he could go racing.*
Obviously it’s his fault if he didn’t have the opportunity to race Lando anymore by going off, but man did McLaren fuck with his pace. Let him kill his tires, then told to hold position when within half a second of his teammate (so he killed his tires for nothing), weird delay to get the go racing and now he’s fallen behind, and his tires are more used than he would’ve liked for nothing.
And it’s not like it was a rushed decision and they couldn’t tell Oscar was gonna get close enough to race Lando, he had been putting in laps faster than him consistently for a while now. It felt inevitable he’d get within DRS and would want to have a go at a home race win.
It was poorly managed from McLaren and I’m mad they didn’t learn from their mistakes in drivers management from last year, feels like they’re incapable of dealing with two drivers at the same time. I really wish they work on that and fast because it’s unfair to let Oscar rot when he’s still in the running for higher positions, even last year their only strategy for him was “chill and go long” whilst they focused on Lando.

I honestly don't understand—what would it cost them to just come out and announce on Thursday that if it's Daniel's last race? Why give him false hope? Why don't let him set a proper goodbye? It's not like this would make them lose a lot of money or sth.
The more I think about how this weekend unfolded, the more I’m confused. Daniel showed up on Thursday absolutely certain he wasn’t getting replaced. He even made jokes about the rumours of him getting replaced. I don’t know what changed from the Thursday to last night. Maybe it was his qualifying performance that changed everything. Maybe the questions were so constant that the doubt crept into his mind. With the way the press behaved with Daniel on Saturday, maybe he did ask Red Bull for clarity and he never got that. I mean, Bayer said ‘no but’, Horner conveniently ignored that such rumours even existed and Mekies ended everything by saying oh yeah, think that was Daniel’s last race so we let him have the fastest lap.
Daniel probably never got any clarity and certainty about his future from them that he desperately needed yesterday and so he had to decide for himself how he wanted to approach this race if it were to be his last. He probably didn’t want to have sat in an F1 car for the last time only to find out later that this was his last race and he didn’t take the time to soak everything in.
Whatever the outcome of the so-called meeting will be, whether it’s favourable to Daniel or not, I think there’s no coming back from how things went down yesterday. Daniel’s relationship with Red Bull has been irrevocably damaged and he probably has no trust left at all in them. I think post-summer break, Daniel has been very isolated from the whole red bull machinery. Horner has been busy glazing Checo and pretending as if Daniel doesn’t exist and the Mekies/Bayer duo has not shown him any public support. I can’t imagine how isolating and alone Daniel must have felt this weekend, having to do this whole farewell tour on his own and having to leave the paddock without any more clarity. I mean, even after he’d broken down in tears, they still sent Paul and his fuckass pencil to babysit him and then got him to film a video as if nothing happened. I understand they don’t want to make any official announcement until after the meeting or to show preference or favouritism or whatever odd ideas they currently have, but there were many neutral ways they could have formulated a statement yesterday to somewhat acknowledge the situation and show a modicum of support to Daniel even if he’s on the way out.
At this point, I don’t know how we could ever come back from what Daniel went through yesterday.

hi i actually have so many questions to ask!!! hope youre doing well, your posts are always so fun and gutwrenching to catch up on
can you explain more about the post-capitalism world??? i always found the ship looking so…. belly of a rusted metal ship to be weird but also offputting in a way that gets the atmosphere in the game so good. like i know its mostly to do with PE being a cheapskate company and using the lowest quality possible materials INCLUDING interior design but like damn, it reminds me of the ferries you take your car on across channels, all the furniture a bit dirty and outdated. we know the ship passed inspection and that the Tulpar is clearly quite old with the comment curly makes but like duuuuude i would not trust that thing, is that why swansea always has so many things to do??
also, the Pony Express name itself. i cant take it seriously with how deep and serious the rest of the game goes 😭 i know its probably done on purpose but it always gets me out of the headspace haha, chosen to show how ridiculous these kinda companies can be??? thoughts… so many….
For this i'd actually like to start with the Pony Express and it's name. The name comes from the irl Pony Express. TDLR is that it was one of the first cross country delivery service that specifically relied on the labor of undesirables as they traveled across the country in harsh conditions. It's likely named off the fact the game PE does the same thing and likely uses the horse as a call back to how all the couriers for the irl Pony Express rode on horse back.
It was also fazed out by a more automated, not man led, system just like what happens to the crew in the game.
The game gives a lot of insights to how humans are treated in heavy labor environments and how companies clearly maximize profit over employee safety/comfort. The first sign is that collective pay is permitted and that it seems minor mistakes and infractions can heavily deduct from that payment. Even if one crate is accidently broken, they don't get paid when most companies would have a set minimum take home in light of infractions.
The fact that the only places that lock are the places with the most expensive equipment is also a sign that it's late enough post-capitalism that they don't even carry pretenses about worker safety or privacy. I mean, they actively discourage sleeping over 5 hours with pay cuts and Swansea even bitterly jokes he isn't jeopardizing anything with his break time. All their food is synthesized slop that only one person can make to discourage food theft and they have to ration that, especially since they added a member knowing they didn't have enough room. It's that they have their own training courses for each position so they don't have to pay someone what their qualified. Everything is designed with a purpose of being tracked, the code scanner likely having inputs on how often something was used and put back to document penalties.
The biggest thing is the Pony Express holding out for so long against other companies. It's not for care of their workers but because human labor is objectively cheaper. It's implied so many companies left human workers behind because while the overhaul is expensive, what they make up in a lack of safety requirements and pay make up for it. It's a sort of retro-futuristic post-capitalism where it won. Things were set back because they no longer have to worry about the people, with very few being deemed worthy to move up.
It's telling that none of them are shocked by the conditions of the Pony Express more just tired of being there.
