Good good SW fics you should read that may or may not have had an impact on my writing

Let’s be clear most of these are p well known I would hope but I am going to try to focus on more longform and slightly less super popular ones. We’ve all read wicked thing, we can all do that direct correlation, okay?

I’ll be real this whole thing is just an excuse to share one of my favorite fics of all time and this is it. Fives arc but Cody finds him and fucking listens to him. There are some absolutely killer lines in this that rattle around in my head permanently. Come and get me being one of them. [spoilers for Clone Wars, obv]

Chain of Command by subtropicalStenella

Bly/Aayla goodness. They’re both stupidly into each other. Part of a series but this is my favorite bit. Can’t imagine who these two had a hand in inspiring. I think about the sparring bit a lot. [Again, Clone Wars]

Sith Lord Swell by AMournfulHowlInTheNight

The first of two time-travel-fix-it’s. Luke and his baby Jedi wind up just before the Clone Wars and decide to nip all that in the bud. Genuinely you will laugh your ass off I promise. The dialogue is what I have dreams of. Just had a new chapter come out (in October when I wrote this kill me)! [Old Man Luke fic with several affectionate jabs at some choices made in the sequels but mostly only movie spoilers]

Can We Start Over? (Series) by Triscribe

The Force (kinda) goes ‘hey actually fuck this’ and mindjacks all the Jedi (and clones) from the moment they died back into their pre-Clone Wars bodies. Short sweet and full of trauma! I admit fondness for the clone-focused fic because Old Man Rex but Bly/Aayla are the focus and I’m love them. [spoilers for p much everything and I mean that and also pls note the ‘all’ bit with caution]

Jocasta Jones and the Librarian Clones (Series) by Papook

Clone Wars era but Jocasta Jones takes over clone organization and winds up completely changing how the war happens. Mostly a focus on her little cadre of clones she gets at the Temple and it’s so so good y’all I cannot recommend this series enough. It’s so interesting and the clones are so much fun to read. If nothing else please read Special Collections the first piece it’s super short and wonderful. [yet again, Clone Wars spoilers]

The Not Good, Very Bad, Terrible Jedi (Series) by Maddy_B

I think a truly questionable amount of my characterization of the usual Clone Wars main characters is influenced by the first fic in this series, 30 hours on Millbillillie. The first chapter of that fic is a must read, and the second chapter great too if you like some fun smut. I would also recommend the big powerhouse of the series too if you’ve got a week, but be aware of the warnings on that one. It really doesn’t pull its punches. [Clone Wars]

i can’t go back and lose it all (Series) by eynn

The Jedi care so much goddammit!!!! Also they all fall and incidentally change the course of the galaxy. I cannot begin to explain how much I love this series it’s so hopeful and so crushing. [Clone Wars]

As far as I’m concerned you have to read both of these together. Don’t let the silliness fool you, there’s also a lot of good repeated question about the clones’ bodily autonomy and also a Kamino black market wonder where we saw that recently. The latter had an new chapter just go up a few weeks ago, for real this time. [Clone Wars]

And I Did It My Way by miyaji_08

There’s no higher praise I can give this fic than its summary preview, so:

“Commander,” High General Windu says, brows raised in suspicion. “This is the Chancellor’s office holo, is it not? May I speak with him?”

Fox stares at the general, and then down at the black smudge on the floor where Palpatine’s body used to be. Slowly, subtly, he shifts so he’s standing on top of it.

“Uh,” he says. “…No.”

It also doesn’t pull its punches but it is so fucking good. [Clone Wars, once more]

i'm making myself laugh thinking about this but I wholeheartedly believe madame morrible absolutely HATES the thought of glinda and elphaba being together like the mere mention of gelphie would probably send her into immediate cardiac arrest and it's not even because she's homophobic or anything I just fully believe she dislikes glinda so so much she's just like this is absolutely NOT happening in my house.
