STATUS UPDATES:

I am currently dealing with a family emergency and my ma has been rushed into hospital so I’ll be offline until things calms down, and progress on wips will slow considerably. I’m really sorry guys

➯ GOING INTO 2024

2023 has been rough for me in all manner of ways but I will say it has been very fruitful with regards to my writing. I managed surpass my goal of 100k words, reaching an unfathomable 150k at present, and I’ve even managed to hit a big milestone when it comes to my following! I’m extremely grateful to all my readers, both those that have stuck with me and those who are new, and I wish I had adequate words to really express that. but going into 2024 I will likely be writing less frequently than I did this year. this is due to my own health, and a multitude of other problems that I can no longer keep on the back burner.

plenty of you have seen mentions of hospital visits and procedures on my blog, and while I’m not very comfortable oversharing about medical stuff I do want to be transparent about the fact that I will be posting fics less because of it. I’ve been in and out of semi hiatus for the better part of 4 months but I was always awful at sticking to it. next year I want to actually give myself grace, and take care of my body.

please do not fear!!! this resolution actually aligns perfectly with my writing goals for 2024. I want to focus on lengthening my word counts. I’d love to post fewer fics, but to have said fics be 25 to 50k respectively, rather than to post a lot of 1 to 15k fics. mostly I want to work on my own impatience when it comes to writing, and berate myself less for what I think I should be doing writing-wise. I will still be around on here, and I always want to talk with you guys (and read whenever the mood strikes!!), the biggest difference is I’ll have longer projects, and you’ll have to wait for them (though if I’m honest I will likely still post a shorter fic here and there lol).

I appreciate the patience a lot of you have already shown me this year, what with my random breaks and gaps between posting. you have all been so so kind and generous with your praise and I wouldn’t be here, writing and sharing, without that support. I love you all and wish you well going into the new year!!!!!

say you’re something like fifteen years old. you sought out a life in the dorms because you couldn’t bear to stay home for reasons you can’t really get into. locked up tight, it doesn’t matter much. say there was this cool older guy, and you were going to be living with him for the coming year, and it was his responsibility to look out for you.

say you feel kind of bad about this.

he doesn’t know what a weird little kid you were, and the hope is that he’ll never have to figure out what you're like sick and nauseous. maybe you could be a cute underclassman to him. probably it'd be fine.

say, then, that he actually takes care of you. properly, like an older brother.

you’ve already got one, yeah. this is just way easier. no external factors screwing this up for you. no mom to basically feed you words to spit back up.

the two of you share a room. you don't hate it. you play games, and he calls you Hanzawa with no pretense of closeness even when you kind of itch for it. you don't have to carry burdens for him because there are no burdens to carry. he has the shoulders to hold them himself.

one thing they don’t tell you about walking into a relationship with someone that guarantees closeness is that there isn't actually a clear and distinct line that says what kinds of feelings you will or will not experience.

maybe you aren't so good at selling the cute underclassman thing.

he's still pretty casual about touching you, and you don't mind it. you like spending time with him, because he makes it easy. maybe you wake up in the middle of the night feeling something, no emotional context for anything, and you look over at him, and you don't stop looking at him—he's like a meter and a half away from you, where else are you gonna look. he's asleep and looks so solid, and you don't actually know what you're staring at him for.

you have brothers, and you know what having a brother feels like, and as much as that is a can of worms for you, you also know that this isn't that.

so what is it, then? you turn your entire body away from him because you probably wouldn't stop staring at him if you didn't.

so he's still casual about touching you, and you don't get weird about it, you don't think. you still play games, you still have fun. it's still all those other things. no burdens to carry, he can carry them himself.

just, you know. you’re still caught on the shoulders thing and you haven’t puzzled out why.

so all of that. a lot of moving pieces, right? say he’s also your club’s vice president.

there’s a different feeling to it. kinetic energy, buzzing, melting down on the way home from the gym. liquid, pulsing energy, sloshing around between your ears; like your brain melts a little more with each passing day, paradox matter that only stays in-tact when you’re flushed red-hot.

funny, white-noise quiet when the two of you are getting ready for bed. neither created nor destroyed; just different.

you end up, somehow, so intimately tied up into his inner circle that you get kind of lost, a little co-dependent.

it’s a funny taste. you can’t place it. you sort of think you never will.

that pull doesn't go away. it's never gonna go away. you look away one second and have a part of yourself, god knows which, taken and placed on his tongue, swallowed to take with him. a keepsake.

i go by Synth online. i probably count as a “tumblr old” (been here since 2011, and i’m even older than the source material my f/o comes from). i’m one of these 🏳️‍🌈. i do a lot of arts n crafts, and have commissions open. i’m bad at writing about me.

This isn’t a faq, more like a “things you might be wondering about”:

“What does your url mean?” -the species plankton are called copepods. yay for having a pre-existing interest in marine bio. the 5000 doesn’t mean anything, i just thought it looks cool. and vaguely technological.

“Plankton is already married…” -anyone who loves Plankton, i also love by extension. That includes Karen! luckily i like computers and robots too very much :)

“So are you okay with sharing him?” -See above. Yes! He needs all the love.

“Anniversary?” -23/7/23. i already knew him from years back, but really reconnected with him when i heard a certain song… it was love at first listen. i’ve had few and far between f/os in the past, and every time it was the same “fall for them hard and fast” situation.

“F/O list?” -just the one guy is all i need. :)

Now here’s where i’ll infodump about my s/i…… eventually lol. When I get round to getting a few sketches I’ve done out of “WIP purgatory”, I’ll post about it under the #🦈 tag. I’m a shark, his best(/only…) customer, then shoulder to cry on, then we progress to more… lil dweeb latches on to the first guy who truly doesn’t consider him a loser. i could be talking about either of them there…
