I have been absolutely going through it this week but today I found some cool muppet stuff at work (I work in a thrift store) that made my heart happy :)

I got this 1989 vintage Material Girl Miss Piggy doll on a stand, she needs a little cleaning up but other than that is beautiful!!

I also got this 1984 book of Muppets comics that features one of my favorite comics ever, which is the Gonzo bathroom strip!

one of my favorite library kid encounters this weekend was a with a little Greek three-year-old named Andromeda. She and her mom came up to get her beads for SRP, and, as is pretty common, they start telling me about what they've been reading. Friends, this child and her mother have been reading the Odyssey in Greek together. The mom and the kid chat back and forth in Greek together about the Odyssey while picking beads (and counting them in Greek), translating bits and pieces for me as they go along.

Apparently, Andromeda's favorite character in the Odyssey is Penelope, which, uh, girl I see u!!!!! Obsessed with the vibes of this toddler who read the Odyssey in Greek with her mom FIVE times this summer because that's her favorite book! GOOD! FOR! HER!

Additionally the mom was like, "yeah we also read the Iliad this summer."

all this talk about storytelling has made me appreciate just how many things i’ve learned how to create for my story! i was tired of throwing good ideas away because i thought they were impossible to create, so at some point i decided.. fuck it, i’m teaching myself how to recolor, make skin details, make accessories & poses, create & edit meshes, etc. so i just wanted to put some of my favorite creations in one place to remind myself how far i’ve come :’) and hopefully it will be inspirational for anyone who has also worried that you won’t be able to execute your ideas the way you want to! you can!! the sky is the limit!! and i’m always here to help if you need it 💖

i wasn’t going to post about this here, but my family and i need a lot of thoughts and prayers if you can right now. my mom had a stroke and was rushed to the emergency room. i have been attempting to hold myself together and honestly not speak it into existence just because im so afraid. her heart isn’t well, but she is back home now resting. there’s a lot more details on the matter that led up to her having this stroke and some of that was involved stress in her work life, but im not really okay with disclosing those things on this site fully as .. it is really personal tbh.

my mom and i are so close, please send good thoughts that she gets better with the necessary healing she is going through. thanks.

I will ABSOLUTELY show more photos of my current hyperfixation, ehehehe, thank you so much! <3 I've moved the cattleya to my eastern windowsill and my dendrobium nobile is chilling in the place of honor on the kitchen counter where my biggest bloomer at any given point in time goes, and one of my violets is also in my bedroom for some pizzazz, but the rest of the orchids and violets/streps are on this plant shelf!

She's a bit tall, so I've added the dendrobium nobile (Angel Moon 'Love Letter,' lovely but mild fragrance!) side by side to avoid stretching the dash too much, haha. I have it lit with Barrina LED lights on timers, and they have a super cozy glow, don't let my camera auto-editing the lighting to be so stark fool you.

The top row is hard to get a good zoomed out pic of because the Oncostele Red Silk 'HOF' flower spike is so damn tall, so I've cut it out of the pic since it's not blooming yet - but soon! This is where I try to keep all my currently-blooming flowers, and the oncidium takes up a ton of space at the moment... and as you may be able to see, the yellow and harlequin phalaenopsis are soon to be losing their blooms! They're both growing new leaves and roots at the moment, and the yellow phal actually has been in bloom on the same spikes for 9 months straight, which is absolutely insane. They're both no ID grocery store plants, which tend to be bred for really prolific blooms!

The second row is currently housing my blooming violet and strep, as well as my two smaller non-blooming streps. The bottom left one is actually a mini, so it will be staying in that small pot forever! One of the huge pros of violets for me is that they don't really exceed a 4" flower pot size ever, no matter if you've had them ten months or ten years.

The mini strep is Fernwood's Silhouette, the larger one is DS Riushele (google this one, the blooms are a deep purple and super frilly!), the violet is Frosty Cherry, and the far right strep is Bristol's Mascara!

The bottom row is where I try to keep my currently non-blooming orchids, but the little rescue I found at the store with most of the flower spike snapped off and one measly (and super pretty) flower left made it down there as well for lack of space, haha.

The tallest plant here is a Dancing Lady oncidium orchid that has an amazing and strong fragrance. It used to be in my kitchen and filled the whole kitchen area with its scent in the mornings! The smallest orchid in the clear pot is actually one I kidnapped (with permission) from my program director's office to rehab it, lol. I'll be giving it back once it puts out another flower spike. The big pot on the bottom right has a pure white phalaenopsis that's currently growing a new flower spike for the third time in my care, and it's a flower that my mom gave me, so it holds a special place in my heart!

Then the very top left tiny phalaenopsis orchid is just a little purple grocery store mini that had almost no roots left for a long time. It's flowered twice in my care before I messed up its roots trying to separate it from being double-potted, so I'm very proud that it's now growing a new leaf. And lastly the two violets are Cajun's Queen's Lace (left) and PT Wild Plum (right, post plant surgery).

And that's the orchids and violets! :D I actually have, uh. Checks watch. 41 plants including hoyas, nerve plants, a fiddle leaf fig, and a pothos, not to mention the aquarium garden and the edible patio plants, so this isn't actually all of them, but the rest are elsewhere in the house and aside from the ones I mentioned in the first paragraph aren't in the orchid/violet category!

i watched it so you don't have to. and also because i like trashy reality tv sometimes.

the premise of the entire show: 31 contestans, 5 competitions, double trials. they "compete for the third-generation family seats" (i think it's like the top 5 places or something?). they focus on "singing, dancing, composing and performing".

ep. 0: introductions and picking opponents for the preliminary competition.

the preliminary competition: 31 members divided into 10 groups for 1 vs 1 battle, with a total of 5 battles. the opponents were picked by chance (mostly. it's complicated. don't worry about it).

they have 100 minutes to prepare the performances. the five winning teams will be challenged by one other artist they invited (if he surpasses any of the teams he joins cmbf s3, if not he leaves).

the member ranked first in the winning group becomes the MVP and gets priority in choosing songs.

i don't know why Jeff is in the vocal-dance group but his "special moves" are vocal, phin and thai. they each get their most famous work listed under their name - that's why "Fade" is there.

Jeff is in the "young ones" group (as one of the other contestants called them), most of the other participants are much older. and the participants range from actors to singers to models to dancers.

Jeff's team got matched with the dancers as their opponents.

overall opinion:

the contestants seem charismatic and likeable (no surprise there, with all of them having 10 years and more of experience in the industry). but i don't get the reason why most of them are participating? i think it's mainly to either have a break-through or because their careers are slowing down and they want advertising? this is my opinion, i don't know enough about any of them to really guess.

the english subtitles are surprisingly good.

i was continuously reminding myself that this is not the Jeff show because i kept pouting that he's not appearing on screen very often :(

would i watch this if Jeff wasn't in it? probably not. but Jeff is in it and my clownery knows no bounds so here we are.
