still thinking about how, as andreas ages, the art we see from him becomes less technically proficient but far more earnest. his figures are more abstracted, his scene work highly simplified, but there’s a dynamism and directness of emotion that's ultimately far more memorable than his more academic works. it completely disrupts the idea that maturing in your art must mean steady increase in technical proficiency and instead suggests that maybe maturing in your art means becoming more comfortable with what you have to say rather than fixating on the skill in how you say it.
