Okay some post game thoughts:

That was honestly the best sports experience I’ve ever had (although the USA v Canada game I went to was also amazing as hell)

The crowd went WILD for Sophie’s goal and the fact that she got first star in her first game back hell yeah

I loved all the local teams that were there

There was this black lab service dog with a little boy and the crowd went insane when the camera panned on them. So much so that they showed the dog again later on

There were a couple of guys behind me that sounded like dude bros but they were SO into the game. They were even talking about Heise’s OT stunner last game and mentioned Jesse when they were talking about missing JT on the Avs

There were a lot of Minnesota fans in my section which is why it sounded like there were more Minny fans like I mentioned before however the crowd went nuts for Montreal as well

The record breaking attendance!!! I am so happy to be part of that. And also the “we want a team” chants went crazy

Also seeing these players live and in action makes the game seem even faster I swear the talent these women have is off the charts

As I was leaving I saw a Boston Fleet jersey which was super cool

All in all that was insane and incredible and show stopping and I wanna go to more PWHL games so here’s to hoping Denver can get a team since that’s the closest city to me

I firmly believe that the satanic panic never ended it’s targets just shifted. Extreme evangelical Christians (the primary people behind the satanic panic in the first place) are just using less of their energy on heavy metal and fantasy fiction and more of it on transgender people and drag queens, back then it was “preschool teachers are performing satanic black magic on our kids” and now it’s “teachers are indoctrinating our kids into being trans”, they definitely still target the “satanic” stuff but so much of the recent rise in homophobia and transphobia mirrors the energy of the satanic panic back in the 80’s to the point it’s scary. I’ve taken to calling it the “transtanic panic” which would be a kinda sick name were it not for the reason I call it that

it is legit bizarre to me how hard video game creators and film directors and showrunners try to pretend that fat people don't exist. can you think of the last time you saw a fat person in a lead role? god forbid a fat woman? i can walk down the street or go into a shop or restaurant and see fat people everywhere but then i switch on the tv and suddenly it's like a glimpse into an alternate universe where no one has a bmi over 24. insidious and weird

nah since marvel is trending again I’m going to say it again louder for the people in back — canon steve rogers would never have chosen an “idyllic 1950s white pickett fence life” because the only place that man belonged was a picket LINE. the whole point of his character was that his work was never done. there was always going to be another oppressor, another bully, another person who takes advantage of the underprivileged for him to stand up to. from the moment he gained consciousness he, a chronically ill son of a working class mother living below the poverty line, used his voice and his body to protect & fight for what he believed in. I’m not sure there was ever a time pre-super soldier serum where he didn’t have a black eye. he could put the shield down all he wanted but he could never retire from being steve rogers — someone who never once turned a blind eye, who never once wanted a “reward” for his work, who never once abandoned his friends. this isn’t up for debate. this is almost a century of comic book & film/animated precedent. he may have been a man out of time, but in his words “it’s tempting to want to live in the past. it’s familiar, it’s comfortable. but it’s where fossils come from”
