Some notes on New Yorks current skid:

-they now have the worst shot percentage in the league. This is notable because they are actually second in shots for on average. However, they have not been getting a lot of quality shots as they are second to last in expected goals for their team at all strengths

-they are currently the worst in shots against per game played (29.3)

-five on five continues to be the main problem. They have a 38.7% goals for percentage.

-New York is the youngest team in the league with an average age of 25.83, and have the least amount of pro experience collectively. Carpenter is the oldest player at 30 It’s not unlikely a big problem is those rookies or young players hitting a wall halfway through as is known to happen to players who are doing hockey full time for the first time - the travel, training, frequency of games are hard to adjust to, additionally a lot of the younger players have had tough defensive assignments that might be burning them out a bit. While it’s hard, it is a learning experience.
