Reading TGCF: Chapter Sixteen

For those who don't know, I am reading TGCF for the first time and sharing my thoughts!

I am working from home today so read my chapter pre shift and am using my break to post this LOL. Not having a commute today is so nice (not that my commute is long, I just hate cold weather).

This chapter felt like a panicked speed run of a labyrinth. I half expected some other beasties to be down there but good for them on third time is the charm. I am curious as to who this guy (and also the story for our newly named Lang Ying) is.

people seriously pretending EEAAO is overrated suddenly bc it swept awards? it swept awards largely because it is very very very good. I cried like someone who's just had a religious revelation BOTH times I watched it bc it touched something raw and real and beautiful but it was also just very, very funny. everyone's performance kills and the concept is creative and interesting and doesn't distract from the emotional core. you guys are just contrarian.

correct me if I’m out of line bc I’m not a detransitioner, but I hate hate hate how common arguments against transition/“in defense of” detransitioners is “they can’t have kids!” or “they can’t breastfeed!”

Danny and (a recently revived) Jason move into an apartment together, they live right next to each other too.

Writing an angsty Leo-centric oneshot right now (I have like ONE MORE HEARTFELT CONVERSATION to get through and then it'll be DONE but god is it hard to get these fuckers to talk) and came up with a fun headcanon for it:

what if attention seeking was literally written into Leo's DNA.

So, a semi-common fannon idea is that Leo is a) struggling with depression and b) that depression could literally kill him because Sliders will die of depression. their bodies just shut down.

But the thing is, that would be really bad for someone that's supposed to be a literal supersoldier.

Now, there are a lot of reasons why Draxum might not know about it (the research wasn't there yet, he just didn't dig far enough to find it, etc) but what if he did?

What if he decided to take what was going to be a clear weakness to his creation and use it to his advantage?

Instead, Draxum does a few careful edits via mystics to change the genes causing it instead of fully getting rid of them.

It would be much more useful for a strategist to need to stay in constant contact with him and the rest of his unit, after all. and if he ends up betraying Draxum for one reason or another... then he has a fail-safe to fall back on. After all, with mystic portals, it's pretty easy to just send someone to an isolated area and wait.

Of course, none of that comes to fruition, so instead Leo just knows he constantly craves companionship and wants everyone's eyes on him all the time but has no idea why. He just knows that he CANNOT be alone for too long.

aka: au where it's just as bad of an idea to leave Leo alone for an extended period of time as it is Raph, but for the opposite reason.
