objectively the final episode should have either been longer or it should have been two episodes. as much as i loved the funky slasher movie montage, i wish they had given the theatre and coven a proper (longer) goodbye. i also think the fight between louis and armand should have been harsher after two season's worth of buildup. i think, overall the problem with the pacing was that they were limited to this single episode (idk if it was a writers/producers' choice or a platform choice so im not gonna blame anyone specifically) but with that aside, i loved the episode and i think it was as satisfying an ending as we could have hoped for
#i hope s3 will continue to be as good. i genuinely cannot express how grateful i am for this show#how consistently good it has been despite how ambitious the project was#at the end of the day we got an amazing two seasons with near perfect writing and a perfect and dedicated cast#considering the state of television and cinema nowadays i dont take either of those things for granted#iwtv#vc#interview with the vampire

the thing about revisit of the fight in 1x5 is that Louis started it and Louis kept it going and Louis threatened to kill Lestat but it's kicked off because Lestat put his hands on Claudia. that's what tips Louis over the edge into physical violence.
and the other thing about that fight is that Louis was not going to leave Lestat. He's not focused on trying to get away or comfort Claudia, though he is enraged on her behalf. He is trying to hurt Lestat. He can't really hurt him but he doesn't know that yet. He wants to punish him for both what he did to Claudia and for Claudia leaving in the first place. honestly knowing Louis probably for some other stuff while he's at it. he's been punishing him for seven years. But I really don't think he was going to actually try and leave him. that's so fucked up. they're so fucked up.

douglas is cancelled is really good. it’s like what everyone was saying about tv show theory and metanarrative but for real and not just an excuse for bad writing. it’s almost funny at first and then it’s really, really not anymore and the rug pull is done so cleverly. but it’s never boring and due to the short length everything is put together very purposefully, no dull exposition or anything like that.
#like yes the messaging about the structural misogyny of media and metoo and ‘not all men’ is good#but it only works because it is in fact good television#it’s well-written and well-directed and well-acted#douglas is cancelled#and i’m still thinking about it 2 days later bc it’s genuinely quite thought provoking#its not a shallow show at all

love season 2. i'm concussions! and i'm psychic visions! the headache brothers
#s2 might be my favorite full season hands down even though some of my favorite single episodes/emotional arcs come later#which is weird bc it also has a lot of stuff in it i DON'T like (the way gordon was handled. some annoying motws. et cetera)#but overall it's well paced entertaining has a great score as per usual for the early years . and balances intrigue with grief and fear#and they're SO headaches. the advil consumption in that household (carhold?) is in the double digits daily . ulcers forming as we speak#also croatoan is in this season! one of THE most dread-filled eps they ever did#plus of course what is & what should never be (goes without saying) all hell breaks loose part one last five minutes (goes WITHOUT saying)#etc etc#like you can tell there's a lot of gamble here but it's in a good way#um. the wizard van telepath. victor hi victor . sorry about these horrible boys . houses of the holy!! there's like zero complete misses#i think gabriel is annoying but the CONCEPT of his first episode was still great. don't love the early jodean dynamic but i like how it end#they spend a lot of time genuinely having to deal with The Law etc . the stuff that happens in this one more than even s1 sets the tone#for like everything that follows. for better or worse. the cycle of death/sacrifice/rebirth/sacrifice . the beginning of the religion angle#the expansion of the world (for a while anyway)#i'd go so far as to call it 'good television'#spn

the problem with dhmis is that all of its tumblr sexyman shit is completely 100% separate from the show itself but thats the only thing a lot of people on here know it for. which is a shame because unfortunately the undeniable truth is that don't hug me im scared, both the websites and the tv series, absolutely fucking slays

#crying at 11:30 about the hunger games everyone#books i hadnt read until last year and movies i havent watched yet#have the hunger games always served as a mirror to us american society and television? yes#have they only grown more and more uncanny as time goes on?? also yes#have i felt my own empathy eroded away in the name of consuming content and media?? absolutely#does looking at these books that imbue every page with the idea that it is empathy and kindness that causes change literally bring me to#tears??? yeah yeah it does#its hope and the ability to be like hey empathy is a muscle i have to stretch#kindness is a muscle i have to stretch#and its possible to do that!!!!!#and even the smallest act of kindness and empathy and respect can change lives and the world and etc etc#k mumbles#idk its very easy to lose hope in the current world and those books genuinely make a very good argument for not doing that#the hunger games#thg

GIVE HIM HIS BROTHER BACK#like many people i was also worried when it became clear that mario and luigi were going to spend a lot of this movie apart#and i'm sure there will be stretches of time where mario is caught up in the adventure#but just the fact that luigi seems VERY front of mind for mario throughout hurts my feeble little heart#he isn't going to stop he's going to do whatever it takes until his little brother is safe and back beside him#(also: i hadn't seen that 'this guy's brother is going to DIE' clip in a long time and the FACE JOURNEY that mario goes on there continues#to be SO incredible and funny. he genuinely looks very pissed off at toad after the initial shock wears off.
