Thank you so much for going through the effort to even get screenshots! Itâs seriously appreciated.
You make a good point, not least of which because this circle looks like a blast zone that came from within. It even pushed other bodies away. Iâve never seen Kindred gameplay, idk what their protective powers look like, but generally spells that are cast on you by someone else use the caster as the center of the spell, not the target. (Basically, the blast circle wouldnât have been centered on Ambessa, but on the Wolf.)
The protected area around Mel and Jayce when they wake up doesnât look like a blast zone the way it did with Ambessa (other than, you know, the Actual Bomb), so Iâm not sure what to make of that.
I did not know that Ambessa had a bio already, let alone that included stuff from her music video! I thought she just had her blurb. Itâs great that they clarified who she was pregnant with eventually. Uh, whereâs Kino while sheâs out at war then??? I imagine that Kinoâs father was probably also a soldier and in the army too. Hopefully Kino was with relatives or family friends.
Also, Rokrund! Itâs nice to get a name for the specific region Ambessa is from other than just the wider nation of Noxus. Is this a new name weâre hearing or has it appeared in any other League lore/media before?
âVisions that she would speak of to few others.â I wonder who those few are. Given how she treats her children, I cannot trust that even her kids are among these few. Their dad, maybe? I hesitate to say âAmbessaâs husbandâ because she definitely does not act like she has a husband, or maybe heâs deceased.
I plead the fifth on the Solari stuff because I know jack shit about the Solari, and if it turns out that Mel does have Solari magic, I do want to be surprised by their lore.
It still puzzles me why, if she does have magic, she wouldnât use it to defend herself. You mentioned it being linked to situations with certain death. Iâm iffy on this because it feels convoluted and kind of like a cop-out if that really is the reason canât use it at will. If it is the case, though, then maybe Viktor wasnât hurt because his magic clashed with hers, but because his death wasnât guaranteed. I rewatched the opening scene, and he was still moving a little when Jayce performed Hexcore magic on him. If his death wasnât certain, then the magic had no need to save him.
More likely, Melâs magic has a cooldown and a long period where she needs to build enough magic back up to be able to use, but most likely, Mel doesnât even know she has magic. Thereâs no sense in concealing her magic now, especially not after it saved herself and Jayce. Sure, itâd be a bad idea to come out about it to the world even after Piltover accepted Hextech since it wouldâve been a secret for so long. However, I do believe she wouldâve told Jayce. If not before, then definitely after it saved the two of them and Viktor still almost died.
Jayce needs as much information as he can get to figure out whatâs going on with Viktor. Mel cares a lot about Jayce and seems to also care for Viktor even if she disagreed with him last season. She also has the same innate curiosity that Jayce and Viktor do. Sheâd want him to be able to solve this puzzle with all the information at his disposal and has been able to open up to him in the past with the trust that he would not share her secrets. Sheâd tell him so that they could figure out why her magic didnât work as it was supposed to.
Unless thereâs a reason we havenât been told for why she needs to keep this hidden? If you squint your ears real hard, her line of âThereâs no sense to these things, Jayceâ in response to âHow does the explosion do that to him and I just walk out without a scratchâ sounds a bit like sheâs trying to get him to drop the subject. After all, there is sense to these things for a scientist. Thereâs physics and calculations that go into why every single piece of debris falls in the way that it does. Which direction it flies in, how much heat is dispersed, the shock absorption in everything and every person in the blast radius, how far each person gets pushed across the room. To Jayce, âthereâs no senseâ might not be a comforting thing to hear. So was Mel just trying and failing to comfort him or was she attempting to change the subject? Or am I just reading too much into it?
Lmao imagine tho if Jayce found out she has magic, whether she already knew or not. Heâd want to study her! And honestly sheâd probably be down for it to find out even more ways to use her powers, maybe a way to replicate it with Hextech so more people can have a way to stay safe! That would actually be a good way to use Hextech to help people. And maybe Mel just has a scientist kink, who knows
Mel's protection should have saved Viktor too, and she's trying to figure out why it didn't
S2 ep1 shows a circle of protected stone where Mel and Jayce were during the explosion. My theory is that Mel's magic armor activated and saved them both. It seems like it casts a sphere of protection around wherever Mel is.
The center of this circle is not Mel's seat - it's Jayce's. She ran to Jayce to save him.
No other Councilors were in range of Mel's protection, so they all got hurt or killed.
But Viktor was, Jayce's words, "right next to" him. He was easily within Mel's circle of protection.
1) Viktor tried to run and mistakenly left the circle of protection. But are we meant to believe that Viktor, close to dying already and using a crutch, would have outrun Mel?
2) Viktor's augmented body clashes with Mel's
Why does Mel try to touch Viktor in episode 1? It seems like a throwaway moment, but not even Jayce touches him in this scene. So why Mel?
She's curious. And possibly, feeling responsible. She's wondering why her protection didn't work.
Is this Hexcore brand of the Arcane trying to reach out to Mel? Or trying to defend itself from her?
Mel was trying to protect both Jayce and Viktor, which is reflected in how she holds Jayce as well as Viktor's cane when she promises to protect Hextech:
But if, for example, Mel's magic is Solari in origin, and Viktor's is from the Void - or the Arcane equivalent of similar opposing forces - then it's possible that their magic rejects or hurts one another. So Mel's circle of protection either rejected Viktor, or was what hurt Viktor, and not the explosion.

Having played Emmrich's romance from start to finish I can say it does a shockingly good job of realistically portraying a romance with a significant age gap, speaking from experience as someone who once dated a guy in his fifties while I was in my twenties
Spoilers under the cut
So when you first start flirting with Emmrich, he doesn't assume you're being serious or doesn't even register it as flirting. Then he realizes what's going on and plays along with it. Then he starts flirting back, and uh oh we both acknowledged there's chemistry and now we have to figure out what we're gonna do with it.
Then you start dating. Or at least you're sorta dating. And your friends notice what's going on and immediately they voice their concerns. Are you sure this is a good idea? Happy for you but do you think maybe you're going a little too fast? Does the older person have bad intentions here? These are all questions the companions and even Hezenkoss ask in banter when you start the romance with Emmrich
And yeah when you first start dating someone new these questions don't seem to matter cause you're in love. You're charmed by Emmrich's gentlemanly ways, Emmrich likes the feeling of having a young person show interest in him because it makes him feel younger so he doesn't have to grapple with his mortality
But then as shit gets more and more serious and you near the end of Act 2, Emmrich wants to have a genuine discussion with you about the relationship. He's concerned that maybe this isn't such a good idea after all, because even though you both have the best of intentions, eventually you will have to deal with losing him and it will be decades before you have to worry about your own death.
And you have to ask yourself, is this serious or not? How are we gonna introduce each other to our families? Are you prepared to care for a sick/elderly spouse in your 40s and 50s? If you want to have children, are you prepared to handle having a partner who is already a generation apart from you and old enough to be your children's grandparent? How will it look when an older person in a teaching position is dating someone the same age as their students?
And for a lot of people these are serious obstacles to having a serious long term relationship! And discussions like that often do end in a fight like it does in Emmrich's romance! It happened to me in my relationship with an older man, too! It didn't work for me in my specific case but some people are able to work that stuff out, and in the case of Rook and Emmrich, they eventually do. But those are important discussions to have when you enter that kind of relationship
Idk man, the whole time I was romancing him I kept hearing the same comments my friends and family made about my relationship, the same arguments and discussions we had about the logistics of that kind of relationship, etc. etc. I figured they were just gonna go the route of indulgent wish fulfilment, and I was left slack-jawed when the game actually delves into the realities of dating in age gaps that large

hi! who in svt would be more likely to be a camboy as a side gig/job? i feel like maybe seungkwan cause we all know he feels comfortable in front of the camera and is great at knowing what the public wants, or mingyu cause he loves showing himself offđ¤ i initially thought about wonwoo cause he does gaming streams but heâs wayyyy to shy i feel like he would rather keep his intimate time private.
i donât remember if i already asked this sorry if i alr did!
18+ / mdi
content: camboy!seungkwan, smut, masturbation (m receiving), no x reader but you can assume the chatter is reader, etc.
wc: 710
a/n: i can imagine both but seungkwan's just such a natural entertainer i had to pick him hehe
masterlist
lovergirl98: take the top off baby !!!
- tip: $25
"oh? this thing? but i picked it out just for you. want it off that bad? what does everyone else think? should i take it off?", seungkwan used his index finger to tease at the strap of his tank top, lowering it a bit to expose his shoulder to the audience.
his words combined by his actions caused an immediate flurry in the chat, having it fill up with various comments parroting the original request and even throwing in more money into the fire to ensure it happened. seungkwan chuckled at the insistence, biting his lip at how easy it was to get his viewers fired up.
within seconds, the top was thrown across the room, leaving him in just his boxers as he leaned back on the headboard of his bed.
even more comments showed up, with some begging him to do the same to his boxers while others tried to convince him to play with his nipples.
both orders were promptly followed after a little more teasing from seungkwan, tsk'ing at his chat for being so needy.
"oh ... looks like there's nothing else to take off," he pouted, "what do my needy kittens want now? should i ... play with my cock? is that what you want?"
lovergirl98: wanna see u cum, pretty. gimme a show?
- tip: $50
"lovergirl ... someone's a bit desperate today, huh? this is your fifth tip today. might have to give you a private show for that," he winked before letting his hand go further south, enveloping his swollen hardness with a hiss.
he knew that such comments would get other of his viewers to follow in your path and donate more. seungkwan was already familiar with your username, and he had a lot of fun paying extra attention to your comments. he couldnt help being an appreciative man for all your support.
seungkwan continued to caress himself, starting off with a soft and slow pace and increasing as more comments popped up in encouragement for him to go harder, go faster. kwan drank it all in, using his other hand to occasionally palm at his balls or caress at his bare chest.
lovergirl98: sooo pretty. gonna make me cum with u
- tip: $20
"yeah? wish i could see, pretty," he cried out in the midst of his upcoming high.
he teased himself a few times, getting himself to his high yet stopping right before actually orgasming. meanwhile, he continued to mutter dirty words to his viewers, earning himself rewards for giving them a show of his not-so private pleasure.
"f-fuck, gonna cum. i ... shit, it's so good, fuck. wish you were here to ... to take it for me," he mewled, playing it up a bit for whichever viewer wanted to take claim of him.
and luckily enough, at least ten people donated right at that moment, all in differing amounts and all sharing similar sentiments of wanting seungkwan's spunk either in their mouths or in other parts of their body.
maybe it was a little egotistical of him, but such desperate displays of need for him were enough to finally make him finish. he could see himself in the view finder, looking at the same view his fans had of him as he squirted his cum all over his stomach.
after that, heavy breaths filled the room, occasionally interrupted by pings indicating even more donations from his subscribers.
"hmm, you were so good for me. look at the mess you made me do," he chuckled as he looked through his comments one last time, too exhausted due to the overstimulation he'd inflicted onto himself.
with that, he closed the tab, deciding to put an end to the stream before he fell in another rabbit hole of an orgasm. but even then, private messages popped up, with endless offers of a private show in exchange of heftier donations than usual.
lovergirl was there as per usual, making seungkwan chuckle at the insistence. it was endearing, he had to admit. he considered for a bit, but decided to put it in the back burner before heading over to the bathroom to wash himself up. a smile of satisfaction remained on his face in the meantime.
maybe next time.

Currently working on my own fix-it fic but man this shit is harder than I thought it'd be- I keep crying and then getting distracted reading other fix-it fics. Thought I'd share this snippet to hopefully motivate myself to keep going???
Hen was starting to wonder if maybe Tommy was out for a run when she heard a faint âoh shitâ from inside the house. She banged on the door again. âCome on Kinard! I know youâre in there!â She called out. If Tommyâs neighbors thought she was crazy, oh well, too bad. Hen really didnât care.
Finally the door was opened by Tommy. His hair was a mess- sticking up as though heâd been running his hands through it far too much-, he had deep dark bags under his eyes from lack of sleep, his eyes were puffy from crying, and frankly, he looked like shit. âWhat do you want, Hen?â Tommy rasped. Whether his voice was hoarse due to dehydration or yelling and/or crying was unclear.
âTo talk about what happened last night.â Hen crossed her arms.
âYou mean youâre here to yell at me for what I did?" Tommy guessed. He hadn't forgotten the thinly veiled shovel talk from Hen and Karen months back at the medal ceremony- he wasn't surprised Hen was here now. âTrust me I hate myself for it enough. Thereâs nothing you can say that I havenât already thought about myself.â
âNo. Iâm here to try and understand what even happened. According to Eddie, Buck wasnât making very much sense last night. Eddie wouldâve come himself to check on you but heâs got Buck right now. Eddieâs worried about you and frankly, I am too.â
Tommy sighed deeply and stepped aside to let Hen into the house.
Soon they were sitting at Tommyâs kitchen table with mugs of coffee in hand.
âSo are you gonna tell me what happened or are you just gonna keep having that staring contest with your coffee?â Hen questioned.
âHe asked me to move in with him.â Tommy admitted quietly.
âOkay,â Hen said slowly, waiting for Tommy to explain further why he was upset by it. Beyond the obvious matter of Buck leasing his loft apartment and Tommy owning his house, Hen wasnât sure what the issue was.
âFor a split second, I thought about saying yes.â Tommy confessed. âThen I returned to reality and realized I had to end it.â
âBut why?â Hen questioned.
âEven if it was only for a second, Hen, I was ready to, what? Sell my house and more than half my stuff to move in with him? Iâm not even mad about that part- Iâm upset with myself for considering it. Iâve been in Evanâs position before, first gay relationship, lovesick, you think itâs gonna last forever. And Iâve been the first for guys before too. Like I told Evan last night, I know how it ends. And I guess Iâd rather break my own heart than wait around for Evan to do it.â
âIf youâve been so sure all this time that it could never work, why did it take until now for you to call things off?â Hen questioned.
âI think from the start I knew I was playing with fire. After the last guy I was a first for, I told myself I wasnât going to do it anymore. Then I met Evan, and he was just so magnetic, I couldnât stay away even if I wanted to. I couldn't say no to him. I think I always knew my heart would get broken, and I guess I was okay with that all this time, until last night when I realized I love him, and I knew I had to cut myself off before I reached a point of no return.â Tommy explained. âI mean, Iâm a fucking a mess right now and I was the one who called it off. I donât know if I wouldâve been able to survive him ending it.â
âDid you really just figure out last night that you love him?â Hen asked.
âI guess I sorta loved him from the start but last night was different, Hen. Iâm in love with him, like well and truly love him, in a way Iâve never felt before, about anyone.â Tears filled Tommyâs eyes. âAnd Iâm just his first. And as badly as I want it, I know I donât get to be his last.â
âWhat makes you so sure you canât be his last?â Hen wondered.
âBecause Iâm not the forever guy." Tommy shrugged slightly as a tear finally escaped and slid down his cheek. "At best Iâm the close-to-but-never-quite-enough guy."

Love me Like a Sailor
Arthur Morgan x Captain!Reader
Summary: John is a little brother. The Konstantina prepares to set sail. Arthur is nervous with a side of pathetic.
A/N: Classes got me FUCKED UP and I'm sick. I hope you enjoy tho â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
Part 1
âââââ
When Arthur rode back into camp, he could feel eyes on him. It made his skin prickle, the way that it always did when someone was watching.
He hitched up his horse, boots hitting the ground as he brushed up her sides and let his head rest against her neck for just a moment. He had to gather himself - wouldn't be able to look anyone in the eye if he didn't.
Morgana whinnied, brushing against him almost compassionately. Arthur snorted, patting her a few times and feeding her a sugar cube.
âQuit your worryinâ, girl,â he muttered. âDon't need my damn horse on my case, too.â
Everyone else was gathered around the campfire tonight. It was cool out, fall on the air and rain on the horizon. He'd have to make sure that they were ready for the storm.
A heady laugh reached his ears, unmistakable. Arthur grimaced, looking up from under the brim of his hat.
âHow was it?â John asked teasingly, immediately after laying eyes on him. Arthur glared, walking past him.
âI ain't in the mood, Marston,â he gruffed. With a huff, he grabbed a bottle of beer from Pearson's wagon and uncapped it. He raised the bottle to his lips and took a long sip that elicited a whistle from John.
âCmon now, it can't have been that bad,â he said, shit-eating grin twisting his scarred features. Arthur grimaced.
âIt wasn't, asshole,â he said, blush rising to his cheeks. âI got us a deal.â
John wiggled his eyebrows, making him look even more like the child that he was.
âOh really? What kind of deal are we talkin-â
âShut up, Marston.â
John laughed again, grabbing a beer for himself and clapping Arthur on the shoulder. He stood next to Arthur, watching the camp go by in silence for a moment.
âWhat is the deal then?â He asked eventually. Arthur shrugged, rolling his shoulders and taking another swig of his beer.
âThey need extra protection. In return they'll pay us or peddle for us.â
John nodded, digging in the dirt with the tip of his boot. He always did that when he was thinking.
âWhat's the catch?â
Arthur sighed, rubbing his eyes. That's what he'd been trying to figure out.
âDon't know yet. But with how things are going, we ain't got time to wonder about it.â
âAmen, brother,â John snorted.
The two sat in comfortable silence. The sun had just started to set, purple and orange splashing across the lake and its shores. Arthur itched for his pencil.
And he thought of you.
âââââ
The ride went quickly. Charles and Javier were fast riders, always ready to run.
Van Horn was just as it always was - quiet and unassuming but for the drunks retching outside the saloon. It was an early morning; the sun was barely rising on the horizon.
The Konstantina was moored where it was last time he'd visited, almost a week ago. There was a man on watch at what Arthur thought was the bow. As they rode their horses in and tied them up, his eyes flashed over the main deck. He caught a glimpse of your silk shined hair, his heart skipping a beat.
âS'that it?â Javier asked, coming to stand next to Arthur. His bag was slung over one shoulder, his other hand coming to rest on his belt. Arthur nodded.
âThe one and only.â
Javier snorted. He clapped Arthur's shoulder and shuffled his boots in the sand. Charles fell onto his other side, sighing out a breath and squinting at the boat.
âNot what I expected,â he murmured. Arthur shrugged.
âGets the job done, doesn't it?â
Soon enough, all three men were stepping aboard the boat. The watchman on the bow greeted them, asking them to wait while he got the captain.
Javier lit up a cigarette, sitting on top of a crate. He passed it to Charles who took it with a hum of thanks.
âI'm excited to meet this captain of yours,â Javier said, leaning forward with a glint in his dark eyes. âJohn said she was something else.â
âJohn says a lot of things,â Arthur said as easily as he could manage. Charles huffed, passing the cigarette back. âAin't none of them smart.â
âHe said she had you whipped six ways to Sunday,â Charles said, crossing his arms but gesturing one of his hands at Arthur with a raised eyebrow. Arthur felt himself blush, and thanked the darkness of the early morning for hiding it.
âI don't even know what that means,â Arthur grumbled, pouting. Charles laughed, Javier slapping the man's broad shoulder with a mischievous grin.
âI bet you wish you did, though.â
Arthur glared at both men as they laughed. He was about to open his mouth and defend himself, but he cut himself off when he saw you approaching.
Your outfit was a far cry from when he last saw you; baggy cotton pants and a button up shirt that somehow hid the swell of your chest. Your hair, which was usually left long, was braided tightly and pinned methodically around your head save for a few strands in the front. When you fastened your captain's hat on your head, he couldn't tell that you were a woman at all.
Despite that, his heart still felt like it was going to beat out of his chest if he looked at you for any longer. He could've chuckled at the humor in it. Even dressed as a man, the sweep of your long eyelashes along your cheeks still made his breath hitch. The curve of your mouth still made him want to tear his hair out.
Catching the stunned glances of Charles and Javier, Arthur shrugged and cleared his throat. Their shock quickly passed, but their obvious amusement did not.
âArthur,â Javier said in the same tone of voice that Abigail used to scold Jack.
âWhat?!â
âGentlemen!â You exclaimed, greeting them with the same upbeat attitude you always seemed to have. âWelcome aboard! We're pleased to have you.â
Charles nodded, a slight smile on his face as he introduced himself and Javier, who moved forward to shake your hand. His eye flicked back to Arthur with a lazy grin that betrayed his mischievous curiosity.
âPleasure's ours,â Javier said. âCigarette?â
You hummed in assent, taking the cigarette between two fingers and inhaling a drag of it. Arthur stared as you let the smoke pool out of your mouth in waves.
âSo you're the infamous Caspian that Arthur's been talking about?â Javier said, his charm turned up all the way. Arthur sighed heavily.
âThat's Captain Caspian, to you,â you said with a wink, dissolving into laughter soon after. âFor better or worse that is.â
âS'that why you're dressed like that?â Charles said bluntly, gesturing to your outfit. Javier slapped his shoulder with a venomous âCabrĂłn!â hissed under his breath. You smooth out the wrinkles of your shirt with a raised eyebrow.
âSailing ain't a woman's work,â you say.
âNeither is smuggling.â
âCan't have one without the other, Mr. Smith.â
â...I suppose that's true.â
âIt's better like this anyway,â you say. âNavy would be onto us in seconds if I dressed normally.â
The small talk continued as your cigarette burned down between your fingers. Arthur couldn't comprehend your words, but he figured that was okay - if it was important he'd ask you to repeat yourself and that wouldn't be so bad. He could listen to your voice like one of Dutch's terrible records.
âSo, what's the route?â Charles asked, kicking Arthur's boot and forcing his attention back on the conversation.
âIt'll be short - we should be in port by supper tomorrow night,â you said. âWe sail from here to Saint Denis, which is where we'll drop you boys off.â
âThought it would be longer,â Javier muttered, itching around his mustache in thought.
âThink of this as a trial run,â you said. With a shrug and a sigh you stamp out your cigarette and lay your hands on your belt. âIf it goes well, we can go longer.â
Arthur nodded along, trying not to let his eyes catch on the way your hands looked clutched on your belt and failing miserably. The way he always stood, the way every man stood⌠it looked damn near erotic on you.
âMr. Morgan?â You asked, jolting him once again from his pathetic thoughts. His eyes snapped to yours, meeting your amused face. âYou've been awfully quiet.â
âWas just thinking,â he said, scowling. Charles snorted.
âThat's new.â
âDon't hurt yourself.â
You laughed at Charles and Javier's responses, only laughing harder when you caught a look at Arthur's glare. He crossed his arms and sat back against the railing of the deck, hat falling over his brow.
âHar har,â he said. âMy brand of thinking is always the least likely to get us killed.â
âOh, really? Care to enlighten us?â You ask, clearly teasing him now because what else could he possibly be thinking about.
There wasn't any time to think about robbing and stealing and killing when he could be thinking about your hips, the swell of them and how they would give under his hands. Your eyes, how pretty they would look filled with tears of pleasure. He could be thinking about the way that your lips would form his name, and if your voice would crack with love around the vowels. Or how soft your hands would be if he got to hold them, and how the skin of your back would feel pressed against his chest after-
âTomorrow,â Arthur said, hands fisted tight in his lap. âI was just thinking about tomorrow.â
He looked up to see your eyes soften, fondness clouding the color of your eyes. He's sure that the smile spilling across his lips is one that John would describe as dopey, but he finds that he doesn't give a damn.
Because now? All he's thinking about is how he can make you his the way that he's already yours.

Jiang Wanyin's Dog Part Two (MDZS AU #7)
Part One
Jiang Feinman the diplomat is horrified that his sons were apparently actively training for war behind his back. And by all accounts, his worst fears are confirmed â he who trains for war trains to start war. He only believes half of what he hears of his boys actions at the Wen Indoctrination Camp (the Xuanwu Cave Massacre, some are calling it) but half is enough. Incredibly disappointed in both of them â also why demonic cultivation? Why? Where did he go wrong? But for some reason the more he tries to talk, to teach, to explain, the more he warns about the unrighteousness of striking first, the worse their conversations go. He's used to that with Jiang Cheng, but now Wei Ying, too? The more he pushes, the less they tell him, so eventually he stops pushing.
(They actually did initially intend to explain the time travel, but he was so disappointed by all the murdering that neither of them want to get into all the much much more worse things they did in their previous life so they justâŚdon't. They don't explain shit.)
He still supports the secret Jiang war preparations cover story, pretending to have approved it in advance to other sects, because what else can he do. Really not thrilled about being backed into a corner on that, even though he does eventually accept and even admire the invention of the ghost path, once Wei Wuxian explains it better. Wei Wuxian maybe cries a little at his Uncle's approval.
Too much faith that the whole perfect servant/ master schtick is a front for brotherhood even before the actual reconciliation, but eh, they get there eventually, so heâs not wrong. Manages the homefront during the campaign mostly, though he has his moments of battlefield glory. Major diplomatic success in getting the Jin Sect to side more definitively with the sunshot campaign.
âŚDefinitely dies. Not right away, but he's not meant for war, ya know? Maybe gets the actual time travel explanation on his death bed. Maybe. Touching goodbye either way.
Then, you know that scene in Good Will Hunting where Robin Williams says itâs not your fault over and over again? That, except Wei Wuxian and Jiang Wanyin are both saying it to each other. Clinches the reconnection. Itâs the worst sort of do over, but Jiang Cheng blaming Wei Ying for his parents first deaths was one of their lowest moments, arguably the point things really started to break between them, so having the perspective to very actively not do that is Big. Iâm sorry â this au is about excruciating Yunmeng bros reconciliation, Iâve got to kill at least one family member.
-
Yu Ziyuan approving of the cool distance between the two, proud of her sonâs obvious command over Wei Ying, but disgusted by the fact that her son seems to have completely given up on surpassing him. Flabbergasted that A-Cheng is now intercepting Zidianâs strikes on the shameful cretin â his to punish?? What the fuck does that mean? Whoâs in charge here? How dare you speak to your mother like that.
Ultimately, Jiang Cheng doesnât know how to handle being around his mother. He recognizes many of the things he likes least about himself in her. He recognizes many of the things that made him a successful sect leader in her. I mean, on a certain level he already knew he had become his mother, but holy shit.
She's...mixed on handling her son's ascent, to say the least. The fact that his unquestionable power is so inextricably linked to his command over Wei Ying's even more unquestionable power fucks with her so bad. At least Jiang Cheng had some time to get used to the concept.
He's in his late 30s and bristles at any indication of being subordinate to anyone â Mom's included. He also wants to break down in tears and hide behind her, because that's his MOM, but he canât do that. Heâs sect heir. He's started a war. He's leading a war.
Ok, one (1) night crying into her robes that they never speak of again.
She tends to run battlefields and missions away from the duo. Serious pushback from Jiang Cheng about talking down Wei Ying in front of others, purely for pragmatic reasons, of course â thatâs their sects best weapon. If she survives the war ("So what if he's not coming back? Can't I do anything without him?") then she spends much of her sonâs rule night hunting away from the sect. Does NOT get told about time travel any time soon because they know she would press for details and then kill Wei Wuxian.
-
Jiang Yanli incredibly concerned about her boys after they come back from evil summer camp covered in blood and VERY CLEARLY WAY TOO FUCKED UP FOR A FEW MONTHS AWAY?? Excuse you both you are very clever but are you seriously trying to convince me that you invented a whole ass entire dangerous cultivation path while I was around without me noticing? A-xian, a-cheng are you calling me stupid? No? Good.
On a meta-level, she's built her life around parenting the two of them, there's absolutely no way she buys any story about keeping a long time secret under her nose. The first and possibly only one they actually explain the time travel to, even if they canât bring themselves to tell her everything.
It's deeply distressing to not actually be the oldest sibling anymore, considering how much she defined herself by that, but her brothers don't actually seem to have noticed, so it works out fine.
Her role in the war is slightly larger than canon; the fact that she's bringing an entire support staff of cooks and medics and cleaners that report to her definitely elevates her status and influence. (Headcanon that she basically managed Jiang Wanyin and Wei Wuxian's PR during the war â she's a lot better equipped to do so in this timeline).
She also would also get Instant Respect as one of a handful of people who holds Wuxian's leash, except Wei Wuxian tends to completely drops all necromantic activity when he's within 50 feet of her. It's actually kindof a problem. He's supposed to be passively maintaining some stuff but he's so freaked out about accidentally hurting her that a few perfectly good corpse armies collapse, meaning he has to raise them again from scratch.
They don't get too involved with it, but a few well timed words avoid the worst of the Soup Accusation Debacle and slightly accelerate the Zixuan/Yanli timeline.
Jin Zixuan is bewildered but mostly relieved by the fact that the lead Jiang disciples abrupt personality shift at the start of the war also came with an apparent rise in personal respect of him specifically? Is this because he obviously stepped to defend Mianmian, even though Wanyin and Wuxian did the real work? Jiang Wanyin is noticeably more courteous speaking to him than pretty much anyone else from his clan. Wei Wuxian is a bit harder to read, as he's stopped talked as much, which is bizarre and also fucking terrifying.
(There's a lot to think and feel in the Cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter. But the fact that Wei Wuxian does not like him and absolutely could have killed him anytime he wanted is definitely up there.)
It's just â even further into the war, when Wuxian starts sometimes relaxing again during downtime, he still avoids Zixuan. Weird but also thank fuck.

Lan Zhan is living through a war, sure. But uniquely among his peers, he's also living through a Dark Romance novel! <3
The fun, mischievous boy who he fell in love with at first sight is:
1) the most terrifying powerful dark being who ever lived
2) mildly implied to have ALWAYS secretly been like this and the disobedient but good natured thing was just a cover for the dark truth. Or he might have been corrupted at some point. It's unclear.
3) already in an intense situation-ship with his shidi. (Jiang Wanyin snapping at Wei Ying to stop bothering Lan Zhan and he apologizes politely and then leaves. (Wei Ying definitely yells at Jiang Cheng in private for that but they did agree that he wouldnât give any public evidence of division with the Jiang sect and publicly flirting with Second Master Lan could admittedly be read as split loyalties)) .
But IN PRIVATE â
(Once the yunmeng bros reconciliation starts getting underway Jiang Cheng feels a little bad about how obviously heartbroken Wei Ying is over losing his husband, and formally arranges with Lan sect for spiritual cleansing sessions after major battles as part of managing his first discipleâs cultivation. Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng are completely surprised when Lan Wanjii himself volunteers.)
â Well, when the two of them are alone together, Wei Ying is â not exactly the same person he fell in love with. But heâs still very much Wei Ying. Teasing, provocative, brilliant, righteous â and, and this canât be stressed enough â OBSCENELY sexy.
(Yes, Lan Zhan has learned that his bad taste extends beyond what was, in hindsight, rather petty rule breaking. The whole 'One Man Army' thing is attractive alright? The flute is attractive. Gods help him, even the red eyes are attractive.)
But in private â I mean, the first few times Lan Zhan walks in to play Cleansing only to find Wei Ying tied up provocatively from a âbinding talisman accidentâ he takes it at face value. The man's been churning out one revolutionary invention after another, obviously that requires some testing. But it keeps happening, and Lan Zhan is increasingly panicked that Wei Ying can tell what its doing to his penis. He canât tell, right? Lan Zhan is wearing extra layers to these sessions for that reason exactly and itâs not like his face is easy to read. He canât know about what he's dreamed of doing with his ribbon. He can't know. He canât know.
But shit like that keeps happening. Wei Ying casually mentions that heâs been working on a ritual that might make it possible for men to get pregnant, just as an idle experiment, but of course the only ethical person to test it on is himself. Lan Zhanâs dick gets so hard so fast that he almost passes out. Wei Ying, clearly mistaking the sudden lack of visible blood in his body for disgust (please let him think that, please, please) pouts and teases, âWhat, you donât think Iâd look good pregnant?â Gods be good, heâs holding his stomach and looking up at Lan Zhan through his eyelashes. Lan Zhan didn't even know he was into that! Does this make him more of a cutsleeve or less?? Very nearly goes insane and tries to breed him on the spot. Instead makes a looney toons style Lan Zhan shaped hole in the side of the tent to get away before he bends the man over
Even setting aside the...specifically affecting moments, Wei Ying is so exhausted and soft around Lan Zhan. It makes sense, he's been conquering battlefields, he's been reinventing cultivation, of course he's drained afterwards, that's why Lan Zhan is here â to help rebalance his spiritual energy. But he begs Lan Zhan to take care of him, to feed him, to help him into bed, and it hurts. He knows that it's at least in part a joke but he can't tell how much is him exaggerating his weakness to get Lan Zhan to react and how much is him actually needing help because Jiang fucking Wanyin is ordering him to destroy himself day in and day out, and the whole thing is doing terrible things to the inside of his stomach.
Worry and confusion and fear and anger choking his words even worse than usual, until all he can do is repeat rules about staying away from the crooked path. Lan Zhan scolds him for using resentful energy, sneers at him; he can hear himself and he sounds every inch the jade statue. But somehow, miraculously, Wei Ying understands what he means. He thanks him for being there, for caring what happens to him. Wei Ying tries to reassure him that he'll be alright, really, and how he got 'I am worried about your health' from "your way of living is an abomination" is a mystery, but Lan Zhan is so, so grateful.
Wait.
Fuck.
Wei Ying can either read his face, his words, or his thoughts. FUCK, HE TOTALLY KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING TO MY PENIS.
In public, Wei Wuxian is obediently violent. He's heretical and hyper competent and the only thing that distresses Lan Zhan more than Jiang Wanyin's callous treatment of his undeserved loyalty and talent is the fact that he's starting to wake up in a cold sweat from dreams where Lan Zhan is his leader and Wei Ying follows his orders without hesitation. What does that even mean. He doesn't want to be a sect leader! That would mean that his brother was dead and he would have to talk to people all the time and he doesn't even want Wei Ying to kneel before him! Not like that â not at all â fucking hell, he should not be masturbating this much during a war.
(Not explaining the time travel/ marriage to Lan Zhan is definitely their worst argument after coming back. Difficult compromise says Wei Ying can explain whatever, marry whoever, leave the sect â but only after the war is won and Jiang Sect is secure. Jiang Wanyin does not need Lan Zhan trying to convince Wei Ying to give up demonic cultivation any harder than he already is. He doesn't need him weighing in on shit he doesn't understand with his more-righteous-than-you-attitude. Most importantly, he definitely doesn't need Wei Ying to be running of after his husband when he's supposed to be obeying Jiang Cheng's fucking orders. Wei Ying reluctantly agrees, but he can't give up on having something with Lan Zhan. The end result is maybe a little not great to Lan Zhan, but you know... what's Wei Ying gonna do? Betray his brother's trust? Not chase Lan Zhan's dick? It's an impossible situation and you should feel bad for him. Plus, Lan Zhan's having a hard enough time anyway, he's not good with chang. He would probably not handle having the 'died and then married' bombshells dropped on him particularly well. Yeah...
Anyway Lan Zhan is very much going through 'he's such a tortured soul...only I see the vulnerable, loving truth... unless the soft self is the lie and the darkness is the real him... which would be kindof hot... bad, but also kindof hot... because if he actually is irredeemably evil than everything he does in private is him seducing me on purpose, which would be good except it would be a lie which would be bad but maybe he would do things to my body before he did whatever dark demonic things hes planning ... maybe I could convince him to join the light in truth... no i should have more faith in him he clearly still believes in justice and protecting the weak... unless that actually is at Jiang Wanyin's orders but I'm 80% sure that's a lie and Wei Ying is actually the one insisting we don't take food from farmers without repaying them and I'm even more certain he's the one making sure we accept Wen surrenders... I'm a terrible person for doubting the moments we've shared...
Lan Zhan eventually has a minor emotional breakdown and goes to his brother for advice.
The straw that breaks the camels back is working himself into a panic that Wei Ying might be trying to get him to kill his own brother. It's just... he keeps having sect leader/loyal guard sex dreams. They've been getting more elaborate. There's leather for some reason. And then one time his spiritual energy is too depleted after a battle and Xiongzhang covered his cleansing session, and Lan Zhan had to lay in bed healing. Laying there for hours imagining Wei Ying call Xichen 'gege' and get all soft limbed the way he does in his tent after battle... asking to put his head in Xichen's lap. Wearing just his inner robes around Xichen. The intensity of the rage leads him to suspect a dark spell. (It's just vinegar and lust and the cain instinct, but again, Lan Zhan is going through it.)
Lan Xichen hearing the stripped down version of all this like... honey. Sweet child. What the actual fuck.
Yes, I'm sure he's different when he's with you but... Wanjii. Wanjii, please. Think with your brain, not â I am not the one bringing vulgarity into this, don't look at me like that. A-Zhan. No, brother, you can't 'fix' him. Wanjii why even ask me for advice if you're just going to keep doing the same thing.
Xichen really already had enough on his plate before learning that Wei Wuxian is playing psychsexual mind games with his little brother for nefarious reason.
To be fair to Xichen, he absolutely is doing that, even though it's only half on purpose. But those nefarious end goals are in fact sex and marriage, something he's CONFIDENT Lan Zhan would enjoy! Look, Wei Ying knows he could have sat on Lan Zhan's dick day one, even before establishing a real emotional connection, even before providing some evidence that he's not a literal demon seducing him into darkness. He feels he's showing an awful lot of unappreciated restraint in allowing Lan Zhan to come to him when he's ready to move past the whole 'raising undead armies' and 'upending the natural order' and 'my family will never approve' things.
(alright, it hurts more than he cares to admit to himself to see Lan Zhan look at him with fear, with disgust. He's sticken with worry and grief that without their experience in the Xuanwu Cave something fundamental will be missing between them. But it doesn't take too long before Lan Zhan says something so Lan Zhan that it assures him the care and love is still there. Its not the same but Lan Zhan still insists on following him around during the campaign, which means the chance to create New memories side by side and it's...good.)
Plus, younger Lan Zhan is so much easier to fluster and its INCREDIBLY fun to have the upper hand. The man has not finished developing his thick face â he misses his husband like a limb, like an organ, but the younger model squirms so good.
WAY too much of this is relayed to Jiang Cheng during their daily war strategy/ bro gossip sessions.
I actually think Jiang Cheng, in exchange for being the sole person who has to listen to Wei Yingâs (often graphic) pining over Lan Zhan, should get to out his brother.
He should get to out him a few times! For fun and for profit. Itâs like wingman-ing, but bitchy, which is I think very in character. Wei Ying is either amused by the various reactions, or in the case of Lan Zhan, genuinely thankful. Sure âletting lan zhan come to me when heâs ready and more cool with the ghostly pathâ is maybe the right thing to do, but it kinda sucks ass. Also Lan Zhan might actually have a lust induced Qi deviation if he doesn't fuck Wei Ying soon, though you would think that leaving a conspicuously large jade phallus laying around would be enough of a hint. Whatever, let's throw some black powder on that slow burn!
Jiang Cheng implies he might be open to marry Wei Wuxian out of the sect after the war. Sect leaders âcausallyâ asking what sort of girl his ridiculously OP and perfectly servile first disciple might be interested in. Jiang Cheng nonchalantly describing Lan Wanjii to a T (tall, strong in cultivation, musically talented, more inclined to listen than to talk...) while Lan Wanjii pretends not to have accidentally bitten through a spoon.
Someone trying to offer their daughter to the Jiang Clan ("I noticed your young master Wuxian couldnât help but compliment her beautyââ âHe compliments everyone's beauty. Donât take it seriously.â). Lan Zhan happens to be there, waiting for an unrelated meeting, and Jiang Cheng can't help but take the opportunity to fuck with him.
Jiang Cheng: Ridiculous petition, donât you think. Lan Zhan: Mn. Jiang Cheng: As if Iâd approve a marriage with everyone my shixiong flirts with. Lan Zhan: Mn. Jiang Cheng: (Pausing while he waits for Lan Zhan to take a sip of tea): Heâs obviously a cut sleeve anyway. Lan Zhan: [choking]
After the immediate joy of watching the younger Jade lose his composure, there is later regret because Wei Wuxian is thanking him for giving Lan Zhan a push and. Ugh.
Jin Zixuan on the other hand accidentally gets convinced that Wei Wuxian is in gay love with Jiang Wanyin, while Jiang Wanyin sees Wei Wuxian as a brother, a dynamic Zixuan works very hard to avoid thinking about.
The two sect heirs are having a post battle drink (things werenât bad between him and the peacock, at the end at least, and it might help things in the future (visiting future nieces and nephews) if they could at least be amicable acquaintances).
The evening's going well enough that Jin Zixuan works up the courage to awkwardly ask about rumors of a betrothal between Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli. Wanyin surprises Zixuan by laughing, instead of getting incandescently angry. Sure, theyâve been drinking, but he didnât even yell! At all! Jiang Wanyin, still laughing, leans it and confideds that Wei Wuxian has been in love with the same man for years.
Zixuan, shocked: "Wait a man? Heâs â" Wanyin, taking another drink: "No sleeves." Zixuan, slightly confused why heâs even being told what's obviously a politically valuable secret: âWhoââ Wanyin, forgetting that Wei Yingâs mooning over Lan Zhan is not actually that public, and Lan Zhanâs staring at Wei Ying just looks like glaring unless youâve been unfortunately coached on reading his microexpressions. Also forgetting that people do not generally understand exactly whatâs going on between the Jiang Sectâs heir and first disciple, except that itâs weird and intense: âTake a FUCKING guessâ Zixuan: âHoly shit â you mean â oh man, thatâs ââ Wanyin: âYeah. Youâre not the one who has to live with him.â Zixuan: âCouldnât you â I mean does he have to be here â couldnât he operate on different battlefieldsâ Wanyin, suddenly enraged: the FUCK does that mean?? Zixuan: What? What did I â Wanyin: you got a PROBLEM with my cutsleeve brother?!? Zixuan: I thought â I thought you â did you say brother â Wanyin: FUCK YOU! Zixuan: I donât â Wanyin: You think being a demonic rabbit stops him from being my brother?? Zixuan: I didnât say â Wanyin: This is why your siblings are going to hate you! Zixuan: I â my â what do you mean siblings?? Wanyin: You donât just â Iâm not gonna â you donât just abandon family! You donât â you donât send them away! You don't let them leave and face danger on their own! You donât abandon them! It doesnât matter if theyâre a cutsleeve pervert or too into murdering people to solve problems! Got it? Zixuan: Alright, fine, sorry â Wanyin: GOT IT?!? Zixuan: Alright! Alright, I got it! Wanyin, sitting back down, muttering: Maybe if you were a better brother your half siblings wonât fuck everything up. Zixuan: what? Wanyin: Letâs get this straight â I get to make fun of Wei Wuxian. But until you marry our sister you donât get to say shit. Zixuan: I â marry â no one said I â thereâs no â Wanyin: GOT IT??T? Zixuan: Okay! Okay, I got it!
Jin Zixuan is extremely relieved to spend the rest of the night drinking in silence.
Close to the end of the war someone messes with their privacy talismans while snooping. So their daily checkin gets overheard and a bunch of people hear them bicker like children (threatening to pee in each otherâs socks comes up) and laugh about someone's stupid hat, and trade jokes over a meal, which ruins their Untouchably Intense And Threatening Aura somewhat but honestly the aura was a bit much. Like, weâre allies, arenât we?
Honestly a relief for a lot of people to find out theyâre just teen brothers who are good at killing and putting on a very convincing facade (Wei Wuxian literally calls it his âscary faceâ). ALSO Jiang Cheng makes fun of Wei Ying for his super embarrassing crush, âSo he actually greeted you in public! When should I expect a marriage offer?!ââ which Wei Ying responds to by describing how lonely his butthole is and the various objects heâs been using to makes himself feel less forlorn, which Jiang Cheng responds to with wretching and throwing things.
So thatâs some fun gossip.
(Xichen in particular is relieved that his brother hasn't wildly misjudged Wei Ying's true character, and that the Lan Sect probably isn't going to get subsumed by the Jiang)
The wider cultivation world eventually (post war) gets the explanation that Wei Wuxian can remember his past lives and thatâs why heâs Like That.
Life One heavily implied to be evil warlord inventor with some connection to the burial mounds, possibly creating them, who was so reviled as to be wiped from the history texts, fracturing his soul to where Meng Poâs soup leaks out. So that explains a lot. Makes way more sense than someone inventing a whole new cultivation path at seventeen, haha.
Life Two heavily implied to be happy wife of a respected cultivator, which...huh.
(past life husband eventually revealed to be Lan Wanjiiâs past reincarnation, who did not remember this but is unfortunately still in love. The public finds the story unbelievably romantic. His family is not thrilled. The cultivation world has mixed).
Timeline on all this unconfirmed. Amount of time in-between reincarnations indeterminate, he doesnât remember. Will tell anyone who asks too many details about being an excellent wife â apparently he gave his husband a beautiful son but seriously donât ask because he WILL cry and itâs very disturbing. Vaguely implies that he could be any number of people's grandmother.
Smaller number of people know that Jiang Wanyin also remembers his past lives to some extent, but he wonât talk about it. Wei Wuxian very solemnly whispering to fascinated cultivators that when he went insane in his first life Jiang Wanyin lead an army to stop him and thatâs why he trusts him so much to keep under control as his leader now. I repeat: Jiang Wanyin will NOT be taking questions.

I left a comment on Combat Baby because that fic is so awesome, but Iâm here because Iâm thinking about Stan in short short again. Ford would go insane, especially if Stan was wearing them *in public* where everyone can see whatâs *his*. I think itâs even funnier if theyâre both aware of their feelings but think the other isnât into them/aware, so Ford is gripping his hands trying to act like normal brother and like he doesnât want to rail Stan 10 ways to Sunday so everyone knows heâs taken. Meanwhile Stan is like âGod Iâm such a freak for wanting Ford to think Iâm hot-â
I REMEMBER YOU GUEST ANON! and omg thank you so much for the kind words again, truly!! and this is. lol. maybe not exactly what you asked for, and i'm sorry for that, but i HAVE been thinking about the damn short shorts since you first commented and this is what we ended up with hahaha! i wrote this with either 30's stan & ford in mind or 30's stan and 60's ford, but hey, y'all read whatever you wanna read!
"Oh, hey, I couldn't find the exact coffee you mentioned on the list, but I grabbed something that seemed close? Got a small bag, so if it's shitty, we won't have too much of it to get through, but I figured somethin' was better than nothin' on the coffee front."
Ford was certain that in any other circumstances, he would be annoyed by that. There were complaints swimming up in the back of his mind - Did you even look? Did you bother to ask an associate? - but they slid away before he'd even tried to form any words. That was probably for the best. His tongue felt leaden and too thick in his mouth, and he wasn't sure he would be able to make it cooperate enough to speak if he'd tried. Even getting a short sound of acknowledgement out was more difficult than it should have been.Â
When Ford didn't throw a fit over the coffee, Stan continued on, describing some additional adjustments he'd made to the shopping list and what he was planning to cook for dinner. Ford didn't really hear any of it. Hell, he couldn't even remember why he'd come upstairs in the first place. A question, probably, considering the sound of Stan coming back to the cabin and putting away groceries had drawn him to the kitchen in the first place.Â
But he'd walked in, caught sight of his brother stashing jars and cans in an overhead cabinet, and his brain had started slowly filling with static.Â
The crop top was bad enough. He'd seen it several times at this point â enough times that he should be well used to the damn thing by now. But it was hard not to be distracted by the soft, exposed stretch of Stan's midsection or the way the hair on his stomach tapered down into the band of his pants.Â
Jeans usually. It was usually jeans. Stan had a tendency to spend the evenings around the cabin in his boxers, but Ford had only ever seen him pair the too-short t-shirt with jeans.Â
He was not wearing jeans today. He was wearing a pair of shorts.Â
A pair of shorts that pinched around his full waist and made his stomach spill over the elastic.Â
A pair of shorts that stopped alarmingly high on Stan's thighs, exposing nearly every inch of hair and skin on his legs.Â
A pair of shorts that fit just a shade too tight around Stan's ass, and were borderline indecent when he bent over to put something in the fridge.Â
A pair of shorts that belonged to Ford.Â
The realization hit him with all the subtlety of a taser, burning across his skin and threatening the stability of his knees.Â
"Do you already have a place where you're keepin' shit likeâ"
"Where did you find those?"Â
Ford wasn't sure if it was the fact that he hadn't spoken at all since he'd come into the kitchen, or if it was the raggedness of his voice, but Stan jerked his head up from the bag he'd been pulling non-perishables from.Â
"What?"Â
"Yourâ" Ford's voice stuck on the back of his tongue, and he worked his throat until he managed to swallow, curling his fingers over the back of the nearest chair to make sure he stayed upright. "Those shorts. Are those mine?"Â
Stan frowned at him, confused, before glancing down at himself. "Oh! Yeah, I think so? I mean, I found 'em in the back of a drawer upstairs. It's like a hundred goddamn degrees out there, and all I got on me is denim right now."
Ford felt like someone was holding a livewire to his hypothalamus.Â
"Youâ You wore those, my shorts, out? In public?"Â
Stan squinted at him. "Yeah. Isn't that what I said?" and then, when Ford didn't respond right away, Stan shifted uncomfortably. "Uhh....shit. I'm sorry? I hadn't seen you wearing 'em or anything, so I didn't think you'd care if I borrowed them."
Ford could feel where his nails were digging impressions into the chair's finish, but he couldn't pull his eyes away from the shadow of Stan's bulge, entirely too apparent in those little green shorts. He'd been outside in those. In town, even. He'd gone grocery shopping in half of a shirt and shorts that had been snug on Ford before he'd even gotten his second PhD.Â
Who had he run into? Even if the store had been completely empty otherwise, there would at least have been a cashier to see his brother parading around like an exhibitionist. And the odds were entirely too high that other patrons would have been present.Â
Since Stan had arrived in Gravity Falls, he had better inundated himself with the townsfolk over several weeks than Ford had ever managed (or tried to manage) over several years. It made sense, Stan had always been the "people person" between them. But Ford also noticed the way Susan Wentworth always found a reason to nudge Stan's arm or pat his shoulder when they stopped by the diner. He saw the way Greg Valentino stole too many lingering glances when he thought he wasn't being observed in turn.Â
Had either of them been there? Would Greg have seen him crouching down to puruse a lower shelf? If so, it would be impossible not to see the full shape of Stan's ass and the impression of his sack squeezed into so little material. Had Susan been shopping at the same time? Would she have devised a reason to put her hand against the exposed skin on Stan's waist to shuffle past him?
"Jesus Christ, are you havin' a stroke over there or what, Sixer?"Â
Stan's voice snapped Ford out of the lurid green hypotheticals, and he cleared his throat. "I'm fine."
"Fine? You sure about that?" Stan said, sounding unconvinced and unimpressed. "Look, I said I was sorry about wearing your dumb shorts. Can I at least finish putting the damn groceries away, or are you gonna stand there scowling until I change?"
"No!" Ford said, entirely too quickly if the single eyebrow creeping up Stan's forehead was anything to go by. "I mean, you don't have to change. I was just...surprised."
"Yeah, I'll say," Stan snorted, turning back to the last bag of groceries. "Dinner plans all right at least?"
Ford ran his tongue out over his lips when Stan turned to the cupboard. He watched the green material shift with his stretching, the white piped hem hiking up just a hair too close to the curve of his ass.Â
"Yes, sure."Â
"And ya don't care about the coffee?" Stan asked, and Ford swallowed down hard on whatever noise tried to crawl up his throat when Stan adjusted the waistband of the shorts, pulling the material briefly higher and tighter.
"Hmm? No, I don't believe so..."
Ford very nearly had to reach down and adjust himself in the confines of his own pants when Stan leaned over and reached for something on the kitchen counter, giving Ford almost enough room to peek under the hem of those god forsaken shorts. It was a miracle he hadn't pulled up curls of varnish with his nails already.Â
"You gettin' a good look back there?" Stan asked, shifting his weight between his feet in a way that made the shorts creep up between his thighs.Â
"Yes, of course Iâ Stan!" Ford choked when the question caught up to him, and he could feel heat burning up his throat and across his face.Â
Stan was smirking at him from over his shoulder now, giving his ass a much more deliberate wiggle. "Christ, Sixer, you are not subtle at all."Â
Ford stammered, trying to think beyond the curl of Stan's lips and the crease at the top of his thighs that he could just make out.Â
"...Jesus, you're also thick," Stan muttered to himself before reaching back and plucking pointedly at the waistband of the shorts. "You gonna come over here and see what's under them, or what?"Â
"Oh..oh!" Ford realized, clearing his throat, though it did little to help how rough his voice felt when he finally rounded the chair. "God, yes."Â
#sorry it took a few days anon but thank you!!#this is so fucking goofy#and like the second time this week i've written ford#just losing his shit over stan wearing something tight and revealing#poor little freak (affectionate)#stancest#pretend my ask tag is cute#foodtruckâs snack packs

@zepskies
I've been waiting ALL week for this!
Dean has a problem. Looking into her eyes, soulful and brown, the slope of her nose and her full lips, parted with shockâŚÂ
It's not a problem Dean, (the gun is obviously BUT) she is beautiful and you will love her and I will cry at your wedding.
He nods, and his smile falls with a weary sigh. The hard part about that is he doesnât feel much guilt about what heâs done. At the same time, he does, and the conflict churns in his stomach. He knew what kind of man Roman was. He was the kind of soldier that couldâve filled Colonel Sandersonâs shoes one day. A fellow soldier under Deanâs command...
Dean no. No feeling bad for saving your girl and for killing the "sack of shit in human clothes."
Also I didn't notice the Colonel Sanderson thing before and now all I can think about is KFC lol.đ Which is not to take away from how good this fic is or how well it's written. It's just me lol.
Dean grimaces, but he stays quiet. He turns to the woman and holds a finger over his lips. She stares back at him in apprehension. He begins to creep slowly around the hill, but she grabs onto his wrist. For a second, she looks just as surprised as him by the reflexive action. Then, she shakes her head at him. Donât go out there, her eyes say. Dean smiles, and he gives her a reassuring wink. He gently removes her hand and gestures at her to stay where she is. He army crawls up the side of the hill. It gives him a vantage point to watch his men, who approach just a few feet down below.Â
Oh goodness she is already so protective of him and oh my word the wink had me melting lol.
I also don't think that I mentioned this before, but I really like how you wove in the other characters in the show. Seeing Benny and Cas show up just made me so happy.
Dean knows the position heâs put his own men in. He doesnât blame them for following the Colonelâs orders. He just hopes they can forgive him for what heâs about to do. He leaps off the edge of the hill with a yell and brings Benny with him to the ground. He sweeps Casâs legs out from underneath him, then tosses a punch that lands on the corner of Bennyâs chin. He kicks Bennyâs gun away, and wrestles Cas until his pistol falls from his hand. The three men scrap and trade blows, until Dean is the only one left standing. His men are groaning on the dusty ground, slowly picking themselves up.
Oh my word seeing that fight in my head, um... YES PLEASE.
And the loyalty?! The love for their friend?! The "Goodbye brother."? It's so good.
âKimâŚmila,â he attempts. She guides Mato closer and grabs Dean by his cheeks with one hand. âKimmĂ.â âKimmĂ,â he repeats with his cheeks squished. His face is starting to warm up, and not altogether in embarrassment. âMila,â she says with a nod. âMila,â Dean says. âKimmĂmila.â
She's squishing his face! That is so cute, oh my stars. Plus I am cackling at how long it took him to be able to say her name.
âBut my mother had a dream before I was born,â Mila says. âShe saw beautiful wings, and said I would have a free mind. When I grew, and wanted to spend my days with horses more than cooking and sewing things, she didnât call me free. She called me stubborn.â Her face begins to fall. âMaybe too stubborn.â
I absolutely love this! I really love it when writers pick the names of their characters based on the meaning behind it. And the fact that you gave the meaning of her name a backstory of her mom having a dream and the butterfly meaning that Mila "would have a free mind" is just so perfect for her. Because she is stubborn and she does have "a free mind" by being rebellious and strong, by being a strong female character who does not conform to the whims of what other people deem to be appropriate for her. Also it was funny that Dean thought she was like a "lioness."
"Fair enough," he says, glancing over at her. âI think my dad thought the fighting would end with the war, but, uh...it never really ends, does it?â
This is a really wonderful line, that the war "never really ends." It really fits this story and honestly it really fits the entire early history of the United States when it was acquiring territory and embracing the "manifest destiny" ideals.
Dean enjoys listening to her stories. He likes what he learns about her, but also, he just likes the sound of her voice, smooth and steady, almost calming. He thinks she might like the sound of his too, the way sheâs smiled at him, laughed with him, glanced at him when she thinks heâs not looking.
Okay, the whole part where she is explaining things about her life and her culture was so sweet. Them opening up with one another is just so soft and a little fluffy and I'm so glad that they got to have those gentle moments with one another. Not to mention this bit where Dean admits how much he likes listening to her, is just so good lol.
And I thought it was really on brand for him to be a little upset that she doesn't completely trust him yet, even though that he killed one of his men. But he's got to learn to be patient... and then propose. LOL.
At the very least, the way she looks at him now is softer than that first day.
I think my soul has left my body. This is so cute.
She nods back at him and pretends not to watch when he sits up with a groan, stretching and bending his arms high behind his head. He removed his uniform jacket to sleep. It allows her to see every dip of male muscle that his plain white shirt clings to, even in the long sleeves. Her gaze furtively runs over the broad shoulders, the tapered waist, then back up to his half-bearded face, defined by a strong jaw and dark brows. The sun catches on his brown hair and teases the ends of it golden. She would never admit it, but heâs not unpleasant to look at.Â
Don't be afraid to admit it Mila, we all know how good he is to look at. And why shouldn't you look at your future husband? đ
A breath gets trapped in her throat as she once again looks between his warm hand closed over her smaller one, and his face. In the small space between them, there is a different kind of tension than before. Mila canât tell what the man is thinking when he looks at her like that, but she doesnât like it.
Oh my sweet goodness, the TENSION!!
This is so good my friend and I am so excited for what the future of this series holds and am praying that it doesn't end in death!đŹđ
The Honorable Choice - Part 2

Part 2: Death & Sacrifice
Dean falls out of his saddle with a yell, landing hard in the grass. The impact knocks the air out of his chest and the hat off his head, not to mention the pain that rattles down his back.
âSon of a bitch,â he wheezes, while trying to get back up.
The woman jumps down from the mustangâs back and all but leaps on Dean. Straddling his waist and grabbing a fistful of his collar, she lets out a battle cry and raises a small knife at him. Itâs probably no more than two inches long.
Dean may be on the ground with a smarting forehead, but heâs still got the upper hand. He grabs her knife-wielding arm and whips out his pistol from his belt. Her eyes widen, and she stills above him. The gun lies between them, aimed for her chest. Theyâre both breathing hard.
Dean has a problem.
Looking into her eyes, soulful and brown, the slope of her nose and her full lips, parted with shockâŚÂ
He just canât do it.
His finger eases off the trigger of his gun, and he lowers it to the ground beside him.
âI told you,â he says. âIâm not gonna hurt you.â
Her head tilts as she stares at his gun, then at him. She relaxes somewhat, and she backs off of him, sliding from his lap down to the grass beside him. Her closed fist with the knife comes to rest at her side. She gives him a look of wary bewilderment.
âYou are a strange man,â she says.
Dean has to laugh a little, smiling at her afterward.
âI guess so,â he replies.
Her brows furrow. âYou killed one of your ownâŚfor me?â
And a sack of shit in human clothes.
Dean leans back on his hands in the grass and slides his legs out long. His stare falls to the earth between his boots. The ground is soft underneath him. Maybe it rained this morning.Â
âYeah, thatâs gonna make it tough when I go back,â he says. âAt best, thatâs a court martial. At worstâŚâ
The Lakota woman frowns, her dark brows nearly meeting in the middle as she considers him. He wonders what she sees when she looks at him.
âTell you what,â Dean said. âGive yourself and your horse a rest tonight. Iâll go back and tell them I lost you in the canyon.â
Her eyes widen further in surprise. He canât blame her for it. Heâs surprising himself every time he opens his mouth.
âWill they kill you?â she asks.
Dean shrugs. âNah, Iâll be fine.â
She levels him with a firmer look, one that demands the truth.
His nonchalance wanes, and he sighs.
âThey might,â he says.
She shakes her head. She seems to deliberate over something, but eventually she comes to a decision. Just when she opens her mouth to speak, a gunshot rings out and hits the ground not far from their feet. A warning.
The sound of hooves thundering on the earth reach them before they look up. Two horses gallop towards them in the distance, their riders wearing blue uniforms.
They both tense up, but Dean is the first one to move. He grabs her arm and helps her stand along with him. They scramble back and lead the horses by their reins further into the trees. They find a denser patch and a raised hill to crouch down and hide behind.
The mustang is too tired to go very far, but Baby is already making anxious sounds, protective of her rider.
âShhh,â Dean whispers, and runs a soothing hand over her side. He leads her to lay down with her legs tucked underneath her.
The Lakota manages to do the same with the mustang after whispering to him softly in her language. Thereâs a trust between them, Dean realizes. They have a connection that seems to mirror his own with his horse. He doesnât know how he didnât see it before.
âCaptain!â Benny calls out.
It gives him a vantage point to watch his men, who approach just a few feet down below.Â
âCaptain Winchester!â Cas calls next.
âWe donât want to have to come and get you, Dean. Come on,â Benny says. He does sound reluctant, for his part. His voice grows more somber when he says, âColonelâs given us orders to bring you and the girl backâŚdead or alive.â
Deanâs heaving for breath as well as he leans back against the side of the hill. Despite that momentary victory, he knows what they all know: that this fight isnât going to end until either theyâre dead, or heâs dead.
âWhereâs the girl, Dean?â Benny says. He implores him to see sense. âWe take her back with us, we can smooth all this over with the Colonel. All of it, even Roman.âÂ
Dean lets out a deep breath, but he shakes his head.
âCanât do that, Benny,â he says. âIâm sorry.â
Thereâs a question circling in his friendâs eyes, but after a beat, Benny seems to know the answer to it. He picks up his gun from the ground. Just like Dean once did, the Lieutenant now has a choice to make.
He shares a heavy look with Cas. The two of them nod, before they focus back on Dean.
Bennyâs hand falls, and he stows his gun.
âYou died today,â Benny says. âWe found your body somewhere in the canyon. Your horse too.â
Dean nods, with something of a smile. He supposes faking his death is the only option now. He rips the badge off his uniform jacket and tosses it to Benny.
âThereâs your proof,â he says.
Dean shares a grim nod of respect with Cas while Benny examines the torn patch denoting a captainâs rank.
âTake care of each other,â Dean says.
Bennyâs head raises, and he meets Dean with a somber gaze.
âGoodbye, brother.â
Dean doesnât return to her until the men are out of sight through the trees. Sheâs still hiding along with the resting horses, waiting for him. That alone surprises him. It would bring a small smile to his face, if the weight of that goodbye didnât feel so heavy on his shoulders.
He reaches out a hand for her. It takes her a moment to consider it, but she accepts his offer.
He helps her to her feet, after which, she quickly pulls her hand back. Sheâs wary of his touch, her face guarded when she looks up at him. Dean supposes he canât blame her, even if it does strike a nerve. After what he just did for herâŚ
His face becomes stoic, and he turns away to grab his hat from the dusty ground. âWe should probably head out.â
She nods and calls to her horse to encourage him to his feet. Despite himself, Dean can't help but be curious. How did this girl manage to tame that wild beast?
âDoes he have a name?â he asks.
âMato,â she replies.
âMato,â Dean echoes. âDoes that mean something? You know, in your language.â
She eyes him wryly, brushing her hand over Matoâs hide.
âIt means angry, like a bear,â she says.
Dean snorts. âYeah, good name.â
He remembers his bruised side (and ego) from when the mustang threw him off his back.
Dean watches her with another realization as she gracefully mounts the horse. Baby has gotten up to her feet as well, already nudging the back of his arm with her snout. He rubs her nose in affection.
Then he turns to climb up onto her back, settling his feet into the stirrups and loosely grabbing the reins. He follows his companionâs lead farther into the forest, but he guides his horse to fall into step beside hers.
âWill you tell me your name now?â he asks. âThink weâve been through enough together at this point, donât you think?â
She considers it with a tilt of her head. She looks over at him with a small smile.
âKimmĂmila,â she says. The syllables roll off her tongue effortlessly.
Dean raises his brows. âKimâŚKimmeela.â
She shakes her head at him, her lips pursing.
âKimmĂmila.â
Lord help him, but he tries his best. His brows furrow.
âKimâŚmila,â he attempts. She guides Mato closer and grabs Dean by his cheeks with one hand.
âKimmĂ.â
âKimmĂ,â he repeats with his cheeks squished. His face is starting to warm up, and not altogether in embarrassment.
âMila,â she says with a nod.
âMila,â Dean says. âKimmĂmila.â
Heâs treated to her smile, warm and true. She releases him, her gaze flitting over his face. Then she keeps riding. Dean grins to himself.
âThink Iâm gonna call you Mila,â he says. Make it easier on myself.
She even laughs, a honeyed sound. âYes, my father does too.â
âWhat does it mean? Your name.â
âIn your language?â she says, in a tone that teases him back. She becomes thoughtful as she searches for the word. âIt meansâŚbutterfly.â
âReally?â Dean remarks. She doesnât strike him as a butterfly.
More like a lioness, he thinks, only somewhat holding back his grin.
She gives him some side-eye, despite her amusement.
âYou think it does not suit me,â she observes.
âWell, I didn't say thatââ
âI donât think so either,â she admits. âThere are many things that donât suit me.â
Dean chuckles. He can imagine that.
âBut my mother had a dream before I was born,â Mila says. âShe saw beautiful wings, and said I would have a free mind. When I grew, and wanted to spend my days with horses more than cooking and sewing things, she didnât call me free. She called me stubborn.â Her face begins to fall. âMaybe too stubborn.â
Dean offers her a rueful, sympathetic look. âYeah, I get it. My brother always said I was damn hardheaded,â he says. ââŚMaybe weâve got more in common than we thought, huh?â
Milaâs smile returns, however slightly.
âYou have a brother?â she asks.
âOh, yeah. Heâs a lawyer, so heâs more needed back home,â Dean replies.
Damn. He really does miss his bookish little brother.
He explains to her about his family, his brother and mother who still live in Lawrence, and how he joined the army, in part to honor his father.
âWhat happened to him?â she asks.
âHe diedâŚin some cornfield near Sharpsburg, Maryland, fighting the Confederacy,â he replies, heaving a breath.
"Con...federacy?" she questions.
"The South," Dean explains. "See, most of our southern states thought they should be their own country, letting slaves plow their fields and mind their kids. I may have lived on a farm, but my father always paid his workers. He fought for the Union."
"So you fought among yourselves, over land that did not belong to you," Mila points out.
Dean falls silent. After a little while, he concedes her point with an incline of his head.
"Fair enough," he says, glancing over at her. âI think my dad thought the fighting would end with the war, but, uh...it never really ends, does it?â
Her expression of curiosity fades, turning more solemn.
âNo,â she agrees. ââŚI am sorry for your father.â
Dean's a little surprised to hear that from her, but he nods his thanks. They continue to talk as the sun begins to set in the west. When it dips behind the canyon, they stop to make camp for the night, and he helps her catch a rabbit to roast on the fire they build together.
That night over the meal, she slowly opens up to him. He learns that sheâs an only child, though she has a sibling-like bond with her older cousin, Ĺ Ăłta. She spends most of her days planting or harvesting their crops, depending on the season, as well as sewing, painting, helping the elders of her tribe with tasks, and helping her mother and aunt cook.
When the rabbit is gone, she unbinds her long, thick hair and untangles it while she speaks. She explains that the Lakota are just one of many tribes. There are six other bands of Sioux who live in this region. Along with the Dakota and the Nakota, they are the âSeven Council Firesâ who have made the Great Plains their home for generations.
She tells him about the way her tribe lives, caring for one another, giving the land back as much as they take, and letting it rest. The men hunt and protect the village from the outside, but the women protect the inside, their way of life.
Most of all, Mila tells him, she loves caring for the horses. She goes out and rides whenever she can duck out of her motherâs watchful eye.
She still picks a spot as far away from him as she can to sleep though. She keeps the fire pit in between them. He even catches sight of her knife, hidden in the hand she tucks underneath her cheek. Evidently, she doesnât fully trust him just yet.
It annoys him at first, considering how many times heâs saved her already. How much heâs sacrificed just to get them this farâŚ
Until he remembers how they met. He remembers the disdain and anger in her brown eyes, then the mistrust, and the fear hidden underneath. He thinks of every experience sheâs likely had so far with the U.S. Military, and anyone else who looks like him.
Dean settles down on the ground and stares up at the innumerable stars in a raven sky. Heâs exhausted, but his thoughts donât let him rest for a while.Â
At the very least, the way she looks at him now is softer than that first day.
In the morning, Mila watches the strange man wake.
He blinks and rubs his bleary eyes, yawning, groaning at the sunâs brightness like a child. She hides her smile by bowing her head over the apple sheâs cutting with her knife. The orchards span wide across the forest, and soon heâll find two yellow-red apples beside his head.
His brows raise at them, then he looks up at Mila sitting with her legs crossed behind the small fire pit. The wood there is just ash and blackened remains now, but it still carries the smell of burning.
âMorning,â he greets.
Last night, she declined his offer to travel with her until she reaches her tribe safely, but he was insistent. Again, strange.
So here she is, with him. Here they are.Â
Dean turns to see the horses grazing nearby. Mato no longer has the saddle and bridle his men put on him. He looks rested and at ease. He even whinnies at Baby, tossing his head a little. She answers him and flicks her tail. They continue eating together.
Dean smiles, then grabs an apple. He raises it to her in thanks before he takes a large bite. Its juices run down the corner of his mouth, and he wipes at it with the back of his hand. Mila canât help but be drawn to the sight.
She tears her eyes away when he looks over at her.
âWe have a long way to go. Three days, if the weather is good,â she says, continuing to carve pieces of her apple to eat. âWe will know we are close when we reach the river.â
Dean nods in understanding. With a grunt, he gets to his feet and takes another bite out of his breakfast. She doesnât expect the way he approaches her with a hand outstretched. She looks up at it, then at his expectant face.
âCome on. Letâs hit the road then,â he says.
Mila considers his offer for another moment. He seems to be making this a habit. Amused, she wonders if this is just kindness, or if the women of his people arenât allowed to stand without a manâs help.
She pockets her knife, swipes her braided hair over her shoulder, and slips her hand into his, allowing him to help her to her feet. When she gets there, heâs closer than he should be.
A breath gets trapped in her throat as she once again looks between his warm hand closed over her smaller one, and his face. In the small space between them, there is a different kind of tension than before. Mila canât tell what the man is thinking when he looks at her like that, but she doesnât like it.
And at the same time, she does.
She takes back her hand, and she goes to the horses. She firmly ignores how her heart gallops, even as she rubs at her chest like itâs an ache that can be soothed.
She doesnât hear Deanâs unsteady breath, nor does she see the way his green eyes follow her.
AN:Â *rubs hands together*Â Well, here they are! It's all starting to come together. What did you think of Dean's decision?
Coming up next, we have the final part: some action, some fluff, and some potentially perilous situations for Mila and Dean...
Next Time:
âYeah, about thatâŚIâm thinking your tribe doesnât take very well to outsiders,â he says. âWhite men in particular.â
Mila presses her lips together. He can tell sheâs been thinking the same thing, but she turns to him with a determined set to her features.
âI will protect you,â she says.
Dean frowns. He doesnât like the sound of that. On one hand, it warms him that she seems to really mean it. On the other hand, he doesnât want to know what itâll take for her to protect him.
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â he asks.
She turns her face away and doesnât seem to want to answer at first.
âMilaâŚâ
âThe Chief is my uncle,â she says at last. âHe will listen to me.â
Dean blinks. Well, that changes thingsâŚmaybe.

vent time! i have to disrespectfully disagree with people who are now suddenly saying "it was clear from the start that bucktommy was just a short-term thing". the whole issue with the argument is this: 911 has never been the best written show, and especially everything after s4 has been capital R Rough. this is no succession, the bear, arcane. you know, tv shows that have incredibly story continuity, character writing, and pacing. people say that bucktommy was not written "well enough" as if that is a valid sign in the 911 universe that the breakup was a sure thing. i call bullshit. when was the last time that the show has wrapped up even the simplest storyline in a satisfying and serious way? when was the last time character development happened and was take seriously? when was the last time the main characters didn't feel stagnant and the stories didn't feel repetitive? when was the last time the show didn't go in circles and choose the easy or sometimes most offensive way out? 911 had enough meat to tell compelling stories for 3 seasons, afterwards it went noticibly downhill. people who say that the "bad writing" of bucktommy should have been a clear sign are talking complete nonsense imo. tommy was the first ever love interest who checked all the boxes, who got verbal approval of bobby (who has watched buck grow and knows him incredibly well and who did notice a positive difference in buck!), who had everything that we have been told buck needs in a partner for 6 seasons. the canon text spelled out: this could be the one.
we were not delusional for that because, once again, i have to point out: the wonky writing is not a bucktommy problem. it has been and still is a general 911 problem. if they butcheted the bucktommy writing while they did great with everything else, yes, then i would agree the signs were there. for 911 standards of writing, which are very low in comparison to good tv shows, bucktommy has actually been done pretty damn great until that fucked up breakup. people say "they didn't even know each other after 6 months" and i retort "athena first admitted that she had a fiance before michael to michael and bobby like 30 years (?) after the fact". this show has been fucking up storylines left and right for years, and most characters and dynamics had many moments that were terribly written and poorly handled and were only enjoyable when you ignored the idiocy of it all. this show doesn't care about timelines, doesn't care about logic, doesn't care to base the drama within the constraints of a realistic depiction of society and laws. it retcons things for shits and giggles. the mains only get through it all thanks to plot convenience and plot armor. like please. we try to find logical solutions (e.g. tommy lands the plane) and the show will choose whatever is the most ridiculous idea (12 yo lands it).
looking at the bigger picuture, bucktommy had incredible potential for 911 standards and could have easily worked long-term if only the writers wanted to do so. the simple problem is: they apparently don't want to put any more work into it. it is as easy as that. many things in this show never lived up to their full potential and got wrapped up in the most ridiculous ways that nobody could have ever predicted. like, my bad for expecting some leftover common sensen and logic in the weewoo show! at this point, it feels like a skit starring clowns that will do the most random shit. rinse and repeat.
in that context and thinking back to all the butchered storylines, bucktommy had actually been a fucking masterpiece so far. now, it unfortunately just joins a looong row of things that could have been impactful and meaningful if only the show had good storytelling.
how could i have ever knew a breakup is coming when the writing literally said i wrote them for 8.05 as an stablished couple who where doing ok just so the breakup could hurt more!!! hurt who??? cuz most of their fandom were queers, so there is that.
and yes i agree with you. i dropped the show after s6 and came back to it ONLY bcz my friend told me buck came out bi and start this season only bcz i was invested in buck and his relationship journey cuz i knew for a fact the other part of this show is not gonna get any better and the fucked that up to.
they only claim they KNEW theyâre gonna break up cuz they were saying it since 7.06 lol
and it piss me off when they say there was no chemistry (which i disagree) cuz this is so stupid. lacking chemistry is something WE see as audiences it is not a thing for characters in the story, they donât see it and they donât feel it so it can not be a reason for them to breakup, like??????
all and all bddie shippers has been dancing this dance for 7 years now and yk what? i hope they do get what they want cuz 911 is not gonna change the writing so i hope they do get bddie in this exact writing they seem to loooove cuz i know itâs not gonna be all fair dust and unicorns lol
(i still love buck and i hope hope hope they handle his sexuality better at least from now on but im not optimistic)

I haven't said much personally about Veilguard besides sharing my Rook and a few other silly things, but I do have a couple thoughts now that I'm so very far into my playthrough (halfway at about 50 hours).
I know the music hasn't hit like some hoped it would. I agree that it is not as good as Inquisition. That's still my favorite OST of the series. I understand BioWare wanted a new composer for the next game because each game has had a different composer. But given how very connected Inquisition and Veilguard are, I disagree with that premise and thought they should have stuck with Morris, and not only for that reason. He's a fucking musical genius.
All that said, I do enjoy Zimmer's and Balfe's work on this OST. It's not bad. I was shittalking the main theme for weeks after it came out but when you mash it up with the actual opening of the game, it fits. And I like all the softer versions of it, the less complicated takes with less instrumentation. And there are other tracks that call back to Inquisition. No, I'm not referring to the cameos where Morris's actual tracks were used. I'm talking about Zimmer/Balfe's new content where they threaded callbacks to Inquisition. Once I finish the game, I'm going to do a much deeper analysis of the Veilguard OST, but for now, I'm enjoying it as I play the game (I don't want to listen to the OST before I finish the game itself).
A couple other thoughts in shorter form:
The combat is fun. Compared to previous games, it's dynamic enough that, while there are patterns, you still have to be on your toes. Yes there's the rock, paper, scissors of get rid of armor, get rid of barrier, then spam left click/spells. But you know what, compared to the previous games, I'm enjoying that. It's a nice change of pace. I'm also playing a Mourn Watch Death Mage, so there's some nice flavor there.
Skin texture sucks. It's too smooth. It gives everyone a cartoonist look. I hate it.
Hair is fucking gorgeous. I just wish there were more styles I liked.
The story and quests are fantastic.
I find the dialogue to be a fun balance between seriousness, camp, and exposition.
Now on to my biggest fucking complaint about the game so far and given what I've read (without spoiling anything), I'm ultimately going to be disappointed in the long-run by the romances. My mage committed to Emmrich and I love him. He's wonderful. Read on for some spoilery-ish facets of his romance.
SPOILERS
He's an artist. Both with his magic and his words. He's sophisticated and overly romantic in such a respectful way. Rook's interest in him takes him by surprise because I believe canonically there's an age gap (that I headcanon away), but it's adorable. Plus, graveyard dates. He's very Gomez Addams but without all the public displays of affection (which I also headcanon away because fuck that noise).
END SPOILERS
My last point in the spoilers section about Emmrich's romance is my biggest complaint of the game. There's very little actual romance! And it's because you can't roll up to your companions at any given time and open a dialogue with them. There's no open conversation option. You only get to talk to them if they have a time-sensitive marker or a quest marker on their icon on the map. No free smooches on the ramparts!
And the romance moments we do get are so few and far between in a game that is absolutely massive, not in terms of map size this time, but in terms of content. There is so much good content (as opposed to the shit side quests of collecting 10 bear asses in the Hinterlands of Inquisition). The side quests all feel directly tied to the area's story so they all feel worth doing. We're never doing dumb shit like drawing constellations in the sky or finding shards through tranquil mage skulls (don't ever forget that they used the skulls of mages forced into tranquility specifically for this purpose).
Now I'm not through the whole game yet, but I'm hearing and seeing that there's next to no nudity. Given that on top of the lack of open convos and sparse romantic content, I'm bummed. I still love Emmrich, and I know I'll enjoy the others when I do get to them (because I plan on it). But damn. I was hoping for Desk Scene (iykyk) levels of spice outta this crew.
That's it. Halfway through the game and this is how I feel so far. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game and will continue to binge it. I have Rooks planned for the rest of the companions, too. Femme elf rogue crow to romance Davrin, femme qunari warrior lords of fortune to romance Harding, femme human shadow dragon rogue to romance Neve, femme elf warrior veil jumper to romance Bellara, masc elf mage grey warden to romance Lucanis.
I'd like to see your thoughts!

Host now finally has a legal guardian with them now!! Venom tried to say he was Host's legal guardian in the beginning but it didn't work lol
As Host is catching up with Mrs Chen and tries to explain what happened, Crowley helpfully interrupts and explains how he took "wonderful care" of Host and their certain requirements up until now. Venom corrects him and tells Mrs Chen everything, from the janitor days to the overblots and the blackmailing. Mrs Chen: And you just sat back and let that happen Venom??
Jk, old lady is PISSED- That is her little friend and cannabilistic parasite, how DARE you all let this abuse go on around you, Ellie- oh my bad, Host has already been through enough you heartless jerks, show them some respect! This angry chinese woman now has the BIGGEST beef with random Crow man lol. These asshole kids now have to deal with her for all the issues they've caused for Host and Venom, even Malleus is given a stern lecture for always stalking around Ramshackle at night.
Mrs Chen absolutely loves Grim, she's always had a soft spot for cats and helps cook Host and the rest of Ramshackle way better meals than they were having before. Host feels like crying, they've missed having their biggest human support to talk to and gets to finally rest easier knowing someone more experienced than them is around to help out. Venom is ecstatic to once again dance around with Mrs Chen, both of them singing old showtunes the others don't know lol.
She also managed to bully Crowley into giving both her and Host a new job to earn more money working with Sam at the Mystery Shop. Sam doesn't mind, thankful for the extra hands and knowledge from the old convenience store owner.
Watch as this angsty teen and their symbiote turn IMMEDIATELY OVERPROTECTIVE any time someone wants to start shit with or trash talk about Mrs Chen, they are NOT letting anyone get away with disrespecting their favourite person-
So many people were threaten with being eaten.

Um. hi. your fanart of Marcy waking up from a nightmare is probably my favorite piece of Amphibia fanart ever. curious what was going through your head when you made it. also what are your headcannons/thoughts about The Core, Marcy, what she experienced while under its control, and its lasting effects on her?
holy shit dude, thanks? i donât know what i did to deserve all this nice stuff youâre saying, but thanks. also the tags on the reblog were not aggressive or mean or anything, they actually made me super happy to see! iâm really glad you like it.
coming back after writing all the stuff, thereâs a lot so iâm putting a âkeep readingâ thing. seriously thereâs so much
what was going through my head⌠hm. itâs like, i imagine Marcy having lots of nightmares about things that happened to her, or things that could have happened, stuff like that. iâve read a lot of fanfic so now i really like the idea of her clutching her shirt when remembering being impaled. or even just for comfort, to know that her weakest point is covered in moments of terror. also sheâs crying. sobbing. the only times she recovers quickly after bad nightmares is when sheâs with the others.
i really like the idea of the Core not only sticking her in a box in her mind, but also showing her things. like to keep her from trying to get out. canât resist if your mind is shattered and devoid of hope! anyway i mean like using the illusions to show her various things, situations, people. more peaceful ones where sheâs with her girls, only to realize they arenât there. terrifying ones where they make her live through her worst memories, her betrayal (of her and by her), her death, her torture and possession. twisted situations where Anne and Sasha proclaim that they canât be seen with her, they canât trust her, even hate her for what sheâs done. sometimes the Core sticks her in unending darkness so they donât have to think of anything, or if theyâre focused on something else and need her out of the way (this is where the thing about being unable to sleep or feel safe in complete darkness is from). sometimes theyâll make a fake scene where it seems as though she is being shown what her body is doing, she can see through her eyes, and then she hurts people. kills people. sometimes it will be real, but she doesnât know that, and she will still hurt people. when whoever in the Core in charge of her is feeling particularly cruel, theyâll do a simulation of her being saved. rescued. freed. forgiven. sheâs finally with her girls. but. she isnât. sheâs still here. of course they didnât save her, why would they? sheâs a horrible person, and she did so much unforgivable stuff? why would they ever want to save someone like her? (shit this is long, yeesh. well iâm having fun soo-) sometimes Anne and Sasha kill her as sheâs possessed, because she needs out of the way, and her life doesnât matter anyway. sometimes they free her and then take their fury at her out on her by hurting her.
recovery from that is incredibly hard. when sheâs rescued, she doesnât believe it. firmly denies it, hides from them, tries to keep them from hurting her, curls into a ball and refuses to acknowledge them. because they arenât real, they arenât. hasnât she been through this enough? it takes the others a while to convince her sheâs in reality, and that yes, they do really forgive her. sheâs actually completely free.
later in life she has trouble discerning reality from her nightmares. she has insane trust issues. she canât walk, not by herself. sheâs terrified of fire, because fire is what impaled her, killed her, and fire is the color of the eyes that haunt her. a small zap of static electricity is enough to send her into a flashback of her possession, of the chair, of fire and lightning and code flowing into her, burning burning burning. once someone tried to calm her by grabbing her wrists, which only sent her further. the cuffs. they chained her down. she canât move she canât move! the color orange makes her nervous, if thereâs too much of it she half convinced theyâve taken over somehow and tinted her vision the color of her nightmares. (looking at this youâd really think iâd be able to write something. i should write something) sudden complete darkness, such as someone turning off a light without warning, has her half believing whatever just happened wasnât real, that the Core got bored and stuck her in the darkness. sound and small lights can help her come back to reality. sound because the Core wouldnât let sound into their void, that would defeat the point! and small lights because if it all comes back quickly it just means the simulation has been turned back on. better to show her something small but concrete. Anne and Sasha have gotten really good at realizing when she needs a reality check, and then knowing her to ground her. (btw she doesnât move away because i need her to have a support system. she might actually go crazy if sheâs separated from her friends) ( whAT THE FUCk-?? this is so long! i need to wrap up! holy shiiiit) Marcy likes to hold their hands to help her remember where she is. physical touch is very grounding. the Core could never get it right so itâs even more so. after some nightmares she flinches from touch, so other things are needed, but once sheâs returned from the hell in her mind she needs touch. sometimes weighted blankets help to ground her when she feels as though she might almost float away, sometimes they chain her down and trap her beneath the weight of all her mistakes.
thereâs probably more, but if i kept going iâll just have written a whole ass fic in an ask answer. hope you liked it! if not idk what i can give you (youâll like it, because itâs great)
i donât think iâve ever written things out like things before, i should do that more. it helped to have specific questions, so thanks man i guess? heh.
#aspynn emerges#amphibia#marcy wu#the core#trauma#cw talk of trauma#and stuff#marcy is having absolutely no fun#i mean holy shit#how the fuck did i write so much#what the hell#oh btw guy that asked#thanks so much#also it was nice to have someone like my art#i havenât had much inspiration recently#or positive feedback#or just people saying they like it#so your comments made me super happy#i really need to write something#<333333333

Tyler notices the shift in her demeanor almost instantly. He just doesn't know why. Does she think he's disgusting now? That he's just like every other guy who wants to add notches on his belt? That's not the case. He didn't grow up in a small town with the same twenty classmates. He was bumped from town to town and met a lot of people. They weren't all bad either. Olivia was a great friend to him. So was Antonia despite leaving him in juvie when her father had enough money to buy the entire detention center. It wasn't so bad, though. They had a boxing gym and Tyler met a guy who helped him overcome a lot of his issues. Mr. Hyang. He coached him in boxing and gave him the green pendant he's wearing around his neck. It was meant to bring him good luck but maybe it was broken. Aside from being adopted by the McKenzie's, his life has still been shit. Then again, Brooke was a silver lining. Maybe Hyang's stupid charm brought her into his life. "I know how you feel. I'm not proud of my actions either. Nina makes it seem like its dog eat dog and she's not wrong. There's always going to be a hierarchy. But I don't like ruining people's lives either." Tyler wishes she would roll back over. He misses her pretty eyes but instead of saying anything, he rolls over too. His curtain is open so the moon is spilling in and casting shadows everywhere. "Is it bad to keep secrets from people you care about? Even if it would hurt them? Even if it would change their opinion of you?" Tyler wants her to believe his question is hypothetical, but its not. He's been keeping secrets too. "I can erase everything Nina has on you but she might find that suspicious."
"I don't know," she teases, while her lips curve into a dimpled smirk. "Maybe?" Though, she underestimates her own feelings. Because, the moment he admits to sleeping with multiple people and giving them a piece of himself... Brooke's whole demeanor changes. Her hand falls away from his brow and back down between their chests. It sucks knowing he's so experienced, way more than she is... and the possibility of her being special to him in any way, goes right out the window. He can say it was the best sex he's ever had but, she doesn't know how to believe that when there's countless of other girls he has in his repertoire to compare her to. It makes the concept of having sex with him again, scary. Not because of him per se but because, she's going to worry about being bad at it and him moving on when he realizes she's not some sex goddess like Nina is. "Oh." To make matters worse, now she feels guilty about prying into his sex life and asking questions about his first time when it wasn't special or worth remembering to him. Feeling ashamed, Brooke rolls over onto her back and stares up the ceiling. She still has those glow in the dark stars on hers. They were all the rave years ago. "Not really." There were moments in her life she regretted but not in a way to where she wished she could take them all back. Actually.... that's not entirely true. The way she's treated others in the name of popularity, she would change. "I guess, I'm not proud of how I treat people sometimes. For instance.... Emma." They were friends now and Brooke genuinely loved Emma like a sister. "It's hard being alone with her sometimes. Especially when she's venting about Will knowing he made that bet with Nina and won. I've thought about telling her a thousand times but, if Nina ever finds out I did... she'll ruin my life. And probably air out all the dirt she claims to have on me. I don't really know though, I've never seen any of it. Maybe it's an empty threat. Either way, I don't want to find out."

Really frustrating when people will be like âgenocide is badâ and then zionists will come out like âthatâs antisemeticâ cuz likeâŚthatâs not a good look for you
#love and support Jewish people so much#and recognize that not all Jewish people are Zionists that support Israelâs genocide#but theyre drive to equate not supporting genocide with antisemetism is numbing people to what antisemitism is#and making it harder to call out when someone IS being antisemetic#which is Not Good when we are literally dealing with actual nazis in America#i swear most of these people arenât actually zionists and are just antisemites using this to make Jewish people look bad#cuz there is no way you are THIS bad at propaganda#Im sure this all has been said before but god the world is so fucked right now#it was bad enough with all the other shit going on and now this#Itâs really making everything so overwhelming and unbearable#Itâs literally so easy to just not kill people and not be a bigot#and YET

Happy Valentine's Day! (and this blog's first post anniversary!)
#poorly drawn mdzs#better drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#lan wangji#Woah...it's been a whole *year* since I took the leap and uploaded my 'first attempt' art.#It's outdated now but it holds a special place in my heart for the fact it started all of this off.#Calling this 'poorly-drawn' was always about accepting that my art was going to be imperfect and messy - and doing it anyways!#There has been a staggering number of times I have drawn something I almost didn't upload because I didn't think it was 'good enough'#only for someone to say they liked it - or that it made them laugh. And it has helped me realize -#-The worst critic for my work has always been myself. If I listened to it all the time...well we would not be here now B'*)#And now that I have dabbled in other fandoms I can truly see how lucky was to start out with the MXTX fans.#The supportive messages and tags have truly been a guiding force toward my artistic and self improvement.#I really can't describe how grateful I am.#Thank you for seeing something worth rooting for when I was just figuring things out.#Thank you for being sweeter than the candy I have strategically hidden in the nooks and crannies of this house.#But watch out! If you forget to find them we will get ants.#I remembered to not hide chocolate in the bed this year. Yes I know it melted last time. Yes it did stain. I'm still sorry.#Thank you for loving me regardless <3 Even if it looked like I shit the bed real bad.

Batman #149 by chip zdarsky is mostly unremarkable, but I'm really fascinated by how it makes a great case for 'good' endings not saving 'bad' stories*. Because there's a lot of interesting concepts in this issue (bruce having to deal with his rapidly aging and decaying clone making him think about his own life, re-establishing a 'nest' so to speak for his family after pushing them away, etc) but bc of the OOC slog that came before it, almost every moment w/ the batfamily comes off as unearned and disingenuous imo.
Like, everything with Damian is the perfect example in this. Because in isolation it's...fine. admittedly it's a missed opportunity to not go deeper into how Damian would feel about a clone of his dad who tried to kill considering Damian's relationships with clones of himself (the heretic rejects and respawn) or with former enemies who wanted him dead but who were manipulated and/or brainwashed (like suren and maya).
Zdarsky doesn't go into any of this but you could maybe excuse it as the issue not being about Damian. However, coupled with the previous bizarre characterizations of Damian in 147 and 148, it ends up not being fine- instead it starts to feel...icky how Damian (who, despite often being drawn and written as white, will never have his connection to the non-white al ghuls forgotten and will always be effected by racism even when not portrayed as a poc) is constantly written as overly violent, uncaring and narrow minded in this run. Coupled w/ trying to recanonize the morrison origin for Damian it's like. OH this is badly written and laden with subtle bigotry, sick**
That's me going into detail on it with Damian but it's applicable to other things in this issue- the way Cass, Steph and Duke have all been ignored or turned into jobbers makes their inclusion in the 'family' here feel hollow instead of satisfying. Bruce proclaiming that Zur was still a part of him and he needs to accept responsibility for his actions (when it means taking in clone son) wrings hollow when just last issue zdarsky was bending over backwards to separate Bruce and Zur bc otherwise the Jason thing would get really awkward. Ends are achieved through means that feel hollow or strange. I'm at my destination but damn why'd the bus have to do all that???
I only really have opinions on this latest arc of zdarskys Batman bc it's the one I've read the closest (bc I'm a hater, masochist and avid follower of even the bad damian storylines) but it's not saying great things.
Bc zdarsky can do one thing good in this book, and it's write Bruce and Tim. And yet this entire story, whether of his own volition or editorial mandate, includes other characters who aren't Bruce and Tim, the fabric starts to unravel in very telling ways.
(p.s, I think pennyworth manor is an interesting idea but I feel like in execution it's just gonna be 'bruce living in a house haunted by the memory of the people he couldn't save' but with a different dead guy this time. Illusion of change and whatnot)
*whether or not the ending is good is up to you ofc, as is your opinion on the proceeding arc! I saw some ppl complain that the ending was too "WFA" for them, which I get even if I dont think it'll literally be the same premise. If anything it's probably a lead into the new tec run. Likewise many ppl who aren't in the weeds of Damian and Jason characterization liked the previous arc! But I have my opinions and rest my case before the bench
**disclaimer, I'm white and portrayals of bigotry in comics are complicated and subjective, but I am basing my point here off what other poc comic fans on socmed have been saying about 149. Also the "sick" is sarcasm incase that wasn't obvious
#ramblings of a lunatic#dc comics#dc#damian wayne#bruce wayne#uhhh. not gonna tag the others i dont have time#batman#idk if the zdarsky series has its own tag#anyway yeah. i saw some interesting discussions surrounding 149 and it got me thinking#the experience of reading the issue is inoffensive until i remember how we got here and then all of a sudden i start to feel downright evil#the bruce/zur separation thing pisses me off so bad. MOTHERFUCKER YOU WERE JUST SAYING LAST ISSUE THAT NONE OF IT WAS HIM#and maybe we were meant to agree w Bruce and not Jason in that issue but if that's the case. piss poor job demonstrating it#Bruce never really faces like. interpersonal consequences from the family that last beyond an issue#which is WILD considering the shit he pulled back before they knew he was having a menty b (mental breakdown for those who dont know)#the damian thing is just like. its such clear author bias in ways both lowkey funny and also. not funny. at all#i know a lot of ppl on here didnt vibe w/ batman and robin by joshua williamson but like#i cannot stress enough how he was one of the ONLY ppl in damians corner and now hes leaving that series#he says he approves of the new creative teams assigned but also they're his coworkers. so i dont trust SHIT until its in my hands#anyway one day I'll give a more good faith reading of zdarskys Batman and i do wanna read his daredevil some day#but as it stands he suffers from terminal ''has seemingly never read a comic not abt my special white boys and refuses to try''#which means everyone is going to have to suffer through my haterism#also sorry for no images. i really want to but i just don't have the wherewithal to do alt text rn
