It had been a peaceful few weeks since yn’s dramatic “Offline YN” era ended, and the seventeen's dorm was back to its usual state of controlled chaos. Yn was once again flooding tiktok with DK collabs, spamming weverse with rants like “Seungkwan-oppa stole my hoodie and now it smells like his fancy cologne—send help,” and ordering random junk online (the latest arrival: a pair of slippers shaped like tiger paws). Her life-sized cardboard cutout still stood by the dorm’s front door, a silent sentinel reminding the members of her “greatness”—or so she claimed. Life was good. That is, until the infamous cake incident.

It all started innocently enough. Yn had a habit of stashing snacks around the dorm for “emergencies,” as she called them. He polished it off in three bites, licked the plate clean, and tossed it in the sink, grinning like he’d just pulled off a heist. The members exchanged looks but said nothing. They knew the storm was coming—they just didn’t know when.

They were all piled into the living room, blankets and popcorn everywhere, with yn snuggled up next to Hoshi on the couch. She had her arm looped through his, clinging to him like a koala as she whispered commentary about how the main character “totally deserved to get caught, look at his dumb hat.” Hoshi, still riding the high of his cake crime going unnoticed, just laughed and patted her head. It was a rare moment of peace between the two—until YN’s stomach growled.

“What?” yn asked, hopping up and heading for the kitchen. “Why’re you all looking at Hoshi oppa like that? Did he fart or something?” She cackled at her own joke, oblivious to the tension, and opened the fridge. “Okay, where’s my cake…?”

Silence. She rummaged around, shoving aside a carton of milk and some leftover protein shakes. “Huh. That’s weird. It was right here…” She straightened up, hands on her hips, and turned back to the living room. Thirteen pairs of eyes were locked on her—twelve of them guilty by association, and one (Hoshi’s) practically screaming for mercy. Then, like a synchronized betrayal, every member slowly pointed at Hoshi.

“HE ATE IT!” Mingyu blurted, throwing Hoshi under the bus without hesitation.

“Last week!” Seungkwan added, grinning wickedly. “We told him not to!”

“Traitors!” Hoshi yelped, flailing his arms. “You guys are the worst!”

Yn’s jaw dropped. She stormed back into the living room, glaring daggers at Hoshi, who shrank into the couch like a scolded puppy. “YOU ATE MY CAKE?!”

“It was old!” he protested, voice cracking. “It’d been in there for, like, a week! I thought you forgot about it!”

“FORGOT?!” yn screeched, throwing her hands up. “That was my emergency cake! My ‘I’m-hungry-at-2-a.m.’ cake! And you just… ate it?! Oh, that’s why you’ve been so nice to me lately—cuddling up during movie night, calling me ‘cute maknae’ yesterday! You were covering your guilty little tiger paws!”

“I’m sorry!” Hoshi wailed, clasping his hands together. “I didn’t think you’d care! It was practically a science experiment!”

“Didn’t think I’d care?!” yn gasped, clutching her chest like she’d been stabbed. “That’s it. We’re done. You’re dead to me, oppa.” She spun on her heel and stomped off, leaving the members snickering behind her. Hoshi buried his face in a pillow and groaned, “Why didn’t you guys stop me harder?!”

“We tried,” Jeonghan said, sipping his tea with a smug grin. “You’re just a cake-greedy idiot.”

“Oh, I would,” he shot back, grinning like a cheshire cat. He opened the chocolate cake box, grabbed a plastic fork, and scooped up a massive bite, hovering it inches from his mouth. “Mmm, smells so good. Shame the real yn’s too mad to have some. Cardboard yn doesn’t eat, right? More for me!”

“STOP!” yn screeched, launching herself off the couch and tackling him. The fork clattered to the floor as she wrestled the cake box out of his hands, her voice a mix of outrage and laughter. “You can’t just bribe me with cake and snacks, you thief! I’m still mad!”

“Am I a thief if I replaced it?” Hoshi countered, dodging her flailing arms with a cackle. “Two cakes are better than one old, crusty slice! And look—gummies! Soda! I even got the spicy chips you like! I’m the best oppa again, admit it!”

“You’re a sneaky oppa,” she huffed, but her resolve was crumbling. She eyed the chocolate cake, then the gummies, then the soda, her stomach growling loud enough for both of them to hear. “Ugh, fine! But only because I’m hungry, not because I forgive you!”

“Sure, sure,” Hoshi teased, handing her a fork. “Whatever you say, maknae. Dig in before I change my mind and eat it all.”

Within minutes, they were sprawled on the floor, surrounded by open cake boxes and snack wrappers, laughing like nothing had happened. Yn shoved a gummy worm in Hoshi’s face, demanding, “Say ‘Yn is the best maknae ever’ or I’m starting the silent treatment again!” He complied, mumbling through a mouthful of cake, “Yn is the best maknae ever,” only for her to cackle and smear chocolate frosting on his cheek.

The other members trickled in, drawn by the noise, and stopped dead at the sight. “Are they… okay now?” Dino asked, blinking at the sugar-coated chaos.

“Looks like it,” Seungcheol said, shaking his head. “Hoshi finally found the key to her heart: food.”

“Should’ve known,” Jeonghan muttered, smirking. “She’s pettier than me, but cake fixes everything.”

“Hey!” yn shouted, pointing her fork at him. “I heard that, Jeonghan oppa! You’re next on my hit list!”

“Better hide your snacks,” Hoshi stage-whispered, earning a playful shove from yn.

By the end of the night, the cakes were half-eaten, the snacks were demolished, and YN’s cardboard cutout had a new sign taped to it: “Hoshi = Forgiven (For Now).” Hoshi beamed, slinging an arm around yn’s shoulders. “Back to number one status, right?”

“Don’t push it,” she retorted, but she didn’t pull away, already plotting her next tiktok with him. The dorm was noisy again, the cake war was over, and yn's reign of chaos continued—with Hoshi firmly back in her good graces, at least until the next disaster.

A/N: I got stuck thinking earlier how Joel would react to the "call your boyfriend your husband" trend and this is how I think it'd go. This is set about 3 months before the last chapter of New in Town. This can be read as a stand alone fic with the understanding that reader is Sarah's best friend and Joel and Reader have an established relationship of about a year.

“So what’s this for again?” Joel asked as he sat down at the picnic table in the park. 

“It’s a TikTok challenge,” you said, settling in beside him. Joel opened the paper bag the two of you had just gotten from a food truck and started taking out the tacos, putting some in front of you and him. 

“Right,” he said. “And… I’m sorry, baby, but what’s the point?” 

You laughed as you set your phone against your water bottle so it was propped up and ready to film. 

“There isn’t really one, I guess,” you said. “It’s just a fun little video you make and then share. Those interns I have until May are all about it, they were showing me some of theirs the other day. Figure if I work in marketing, I gotta keep up with the trends!” 

Joel smiled a little. 

“So this is the kind of shit Sarah does, huh?” 

“Yeah, she does,” you laughed again. “Her and the interns made one for the company social page the other day, actually.” 

“Can I see?” He asked, interest suddenly piqued. 

“Sure,” you picked your phone back up and found your company’s TikTok, scrolling to the video and handing it off to Joel. 

“We work in marketing, of course we over analyze every ad we see,” Sarah said through your phone, a small smile on Joel’s face as he watched. 

It made you smile, too. One of the fun parts about being in the strange middle ground between your boyfriend’s and best friend’s ages was serving as a bit of a translator between them. Joel still didn’t quite get TikTok. Sarah didn’t understand why her dad refused to go all in on streaming and still had cable. You, at least, could see both sides. 

But this TikTok effort had nothing to do with Sarah. You did try to keep up with the trends on social media to better craft campaigns and content - capitalizing on trends meant that you had to move quick and you couldn’t afford to be out of touch - but your personal TikTok account was mostly empty. It was pretty private, anyway, shared with only a few close friends like Sarah and Maria. All it had were a few reposts of things you liked, some montages of video snippets from you and Joel’s first vacation together, that sort of thing. 

“You should do some of the trends!” Jason, one of your interns, said earlier that day. 

“Just being in the loop on trends is plenty for me,” you waved him off but smiled. “I don’t need to participate.” 

“But it’s fun!” Kenzie, your other intern said. “They’re not all dances and stuff, you know…” 

“I know,” you said. “But it’s just not what I want to spend a lot of time doing is all.” 

“Some don’t take much time,” she said, opening her phone and scrolling for a second. “Here, this one’s easy. You said you have a boyfriend, right?” 

“I do…” 

“Cool,” she said. “So all you do is record yourself making a video where you call your boyfriend your husband, just to see how he reacts. No crazy edits or anything, it’s super easy.” 

You caved after some light convincing and came up with a plan to get Joel in front of the camera. You told him it was a spicy food challenge, just to see which of you handled the heat better and, while you knew he wouldn’t really get the point, you knew he’d be supportive. He always was. 

But there was something about this trend in particular that made you a little nervous. It’s not like the two of you hadn’t discussed marriage. You’d been together a year now, you’d just moved into his house. It had definitely come up. But it had come up in the way that far off things do, something that might happen some day if things fell into place in just the right way. You didn’t want to push it, didn’t want him to feel rushed or obligated, especially since you’d only been cohabitating about a month. Bringing up marriage - even like this - made you nervous. 

“OK I think I get it,” Joel handed you your phone back after watching Sarah’s video twice. “But we’re not doin’ that same thing, right?”

I see the points people are making that “addiction” is maybe not the ideal model to discuss this, but I also am very sympathetic to the idea that some people have problems with compulsive porn/masturbation to the point that it’s detrimental for them. I’d never claim there’s a chemical dependency as in, eg, smoking or cocaine use or something.

We need a simple word for “habit that has negative effects on my life, but which I don’t seem to have the self-control to eliminate”. Calling it addiction was/is supposed to encourage efforts to help people stop, but all it’s seemed to do is spawn the growth of weird evangelical 12-step programs for being horny.

I want to be horny, if anything, I’d like to be much *more* horny, that’s why I’m trying to quit watching porn.

for reference (and why this is on anon) I’ve probably jerked off 1-3 times a day, every day, for like 10 years, this isn’t a case of catholic guilt over mild sexual behavior. In celebration of episode 1 releasing next week! (can you believe it guys? dsd, just a week away! /reference) it’s really just my thoughts on stuff in order it appears. but there are quite a few thoughts so Long Post Warning!!

I assumed deedee's head was a robot head and they're a robot, but i also noticed that it has what seems like an opening around the neck, so it might be a helmet of some sort. idk

Top 10 Game Changer Episodes

In lieu of the recent WatchMojo video, Top 10 Best Game Changer Episodes, I feel like making my own top 10 Game Changer eps in spite of them. (fyi I will be grouping any repeating episodes into one unit. Ex: Sam Says, Sam Says 2, and Sam Says 3 would all count for "Sam Says")

10. Bingo The reason this episode makes it into my person top 10 is because of how many times I was caught off guard. The plot twist AFTER the plot twist made this episode such a fun watch. Also I love seeing the cast torture Brennan by making him "defend" Elon Musk /lh

9. Deja vu Everybody do the Wenis! The Wenis is a dance. Everybody is a genius who knows it in advance! This episode has such a great cast and the reoccurring bits were so fun. I loved how they started bribing Brian to stay quiet, and I'm personally just a huge sucker for time loops (one of my favorite games is In Stars and Time)

8. Yes or No Do I even need to explain this one? Just go watch the clip if you dont know why this is here. Look up "Brennan Lee Mulligan monologue" and you'll understand why this episode is in the top 10. The only reason the episode isnt any higher is because the bulk of the episode is pretty forgettable.

7. Second Place Another Brennan monologue!!! Honestly, If Brennan stares into the camera and monologues for a solid minute or two, that episode is guaranteed to be in the top 10, but, what puts this episode above Yes or No is the episode itself. The cast is so full of life and passion, and Brennan's consistent philosophy throughout the whole episode makes it one of the greats.

6. Don't Cry I have been a Dropout member for 2-ish years now. When I first became a member, I binge-watched all of Game Changer. Or at least I thought I did. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I saw someone mention Don't Cry and I had no idea what episode it was. So I went back, watched the episode, and was in tears by the end of it. Not only is the episode a beautiful gesture for an amazing writer and comedian, but every word spoken felt genuine, which made the entire episode so much more impactful.

5. A Game Most Changed Every single Dropout cast member is extremely talented, but not once have I seen an improve show as breathtaking and skillful as A Game Most Changed. The amount of skill and talent that is required to improvise an entire Shakespearean play while being thrown those curveballs- the insane coordination between the three actors, with each setting the others up for points. Despite playing for points, the cast frequently set up the others to succeed, favoring storytelling over winning. Absolutely beautiful.

4. Escape The Backroom Pure, unadulterated entertainment. Watching 3 grown adults go ape shit trying to solve puzzles and escape an escape room while unsubtly threatening their captor. Brennan, Lou, and Siobhan have such good chemistry as a team, leading to some of my all-time favorite Game Changer clips. The creation of an entire story for the escape room was inspired, and Sam's switch at the end was just the cherry on top.

3. Sam Says Whenever I have a friend over and I want to show them one Game Changer episode to represent EVERYTHING that Game Changer can be, I show them Sam Says. Each episode has an amazing cast that bounces off each other, and each episode continues to surprise and delight me. Personally, I think Sam Says 2 is the best, but all 3 are fun, high-energy, and insane. Perfect for comedy television.

2. Survivor The tension. The trust. The drama. The betrayal. And, most importantly, the funnies. These episodes have it all and more! In a game where relationships ARE the game, we, as the audience, get invested in each player. And as Brennan seemingly schemes and plots his way to victory, Lou manages to rival Brennan and best him in a game of trust and loyalty. Survivor truly shows what Game Changer can be, and as we see in later seasons, the show keeps evolving from there.

1. Make Some Noise Season 1, Episode 2. SEASON 1, EPISODE 2. Clipped so much that it got it's own show which is now clipped even more. The reason many people sign up for Dropout (and for good reason), this episode puts 3 of the most talented comedians in a space to just be funny. These episodes not only contain some of the best Game Changer moments, but they contain the best Dropout moments, the best impressions, and the best jokes I've ever heard. It's no wonder that these episodes got spun-off into its own show, which is now one of the primary advertisements for Dropout in the form of YT shorts. Brennan, Zac, and Josh are all so talented in drastically different ways, and by putting all three together, something magical happens. Make Some Noise is the gateway into all of the amazing content on Dropout. It is the best episode of Game Changer without a doubt. Season 1, Episode 2, Game Changer, Dropout.tv.

Actual thoughts straight from the shower (spoilers for the entire SotO story):

Okay so Peitha is great, but many agree (including us) that she's EXCEPTIONALLY small and "classically" pretty in comparison to her brother.

Now, as someone who's done video game design classes, we get it. Anet wants to have a character that's easy to animate and so they went with a modeling skeleton (it's an actual animation term we're not calling Peitha thin) based on the majority of the existing player races for the sake of having the most amount of pre-existing animations to work off of (you can see her emoting during the last chapter). Sylvari, human, and norn all have a few different emote variations, like dance for example (can y'all imagine if Peitha started dancing...?).

Making a video game is freaking stressful and taxing, and you generally want to avoid making something that will be used for only one instance and one instance only UNLESS it will dramatically improve the game's feel. Take djinn and Isgarren for example. They're both four-armed races with the same body shape. There's already several animations the djinn have that are reused for Isgarren, with, as far as we can tell, one exception. Isgarren has a talking animation that has him moving all four of his arms. Djinn don't have this animation (unless it's going to be retroactively added) and Anet likely never intended to give them this animation to keep to the idea that djinn are very reserved and guarded around others. One animation loop is not going to break the bank, but more than that? Ehh...

So as cool as it would have been to make Peitha a unique and incredibly monstrous skeleton, any animations they would have given her might NEVER get used again, and that's a LOT of time used for such a rare scenario. Ergo, give her a design with the most animation reuse potential.

Now that's the technical/logical hypothesis for why Peitha looks the way she does. But here's our lore-based theories which are frankly more interesting.

There's a book you can find in Dagda's room that reveals that all of the taller wizards (Dagda, Isgarren, and Mabon) have gone out of their way to disguise themselves to look more normal and less threatening. Isgarren went out of his way to look like a djinn by making his skin blue (and probably hiding his legs and giving himself extra fingers because CANONICALLY GW1 seers have like 3 fingers and very obvious legs), Mabon chose to hide his wings (the black tentacle things you see other mursaat have? yeah that) and Dagda... we actually don't know WHAT she did to herself. The book avoids mentioning it.

With that said, this could be foreshadowing to the fact that maybe Peitha realized that the shorter mortal races are very distrustful in general, and chose to look as close to a more "conventional" mortal appearance when she began keeping her eye on the Commander (she WAS surprised the first time she's seen but she might have been playing things cautiously from the start in case the wizards noticed her).

Alright so that's the first theory. The second one has less evidence to back it up but its A way to explain the dichotomy between her appearance and her brother and keeping to the idea that Peitha legitimately does look the way we see her.

The only demons encountered to date have basically all been enemies. Peitha is one of the few or potentially only demons who has not tried to kill the player character on sight.

Perhaps Peitha is legitimately that unique due to the fact that she's not normal for her race. Perhaps she's considered a runt of the litter when compared to the other high class Kryptis. Maybe that led to her being acutely aware of how unjust the system in her world is, and the moment she realized that you, the legendary dragon/god slayer that you are, fell into her realm, Peitha had a moment and realized that maybe maybe this was the opportunity she needed to change things for the better.

In any case, we'll have to wait and see what other female Kryptis look like to figure out if the sexual dimorphism is simply.. well, that extreme for demons or if Peitha is the exception not the rule.

August 13 - Day 3 Fatality/Journey

Annya was the most haunting woman he knew. The highest compliment he could give, one he knew she’d like if he ever said it out loud. But who wouldn’t want to be haunted by her? She was hot as fuck. Not literally, obviously, he didn’t want her to be dead. 

Serazhen ashed his cigarette into the little fountain in the Royal Exchange and idly rolled his shoulders. Silvermoon was haunted, too. 

Literally. 

In the bad way. 

Which made sense, really, considering the zombie apocalypse it had survived.

Moving back really hadn’t been high up on his priority list at all, but the painting Annya had showcased at her most recent gallery of a dead man crushed under the weight of Dalaran’s floating hubris had been on his mind since he’d seen it. Lingering at the back of his thoughts, popping up in the occasional dream. 

Sexy of her, really, to make work so thought provoking — like a sticker burr that clung to your sock that poked and jabbed when you least expected it. 

It hadn’t been hard to find an inn at one of the local jewelry shops in the Court. He’d been making his own custom pieces for a few years now — only ever one of each, never duplicating. Each one marked with a little cloud stamp. He’d sold to socialites and nobility, nouveau riche merchants and folks who scrapped and saved up.

His portfolio was weird, but that’s how you made a lasting impression in the industry. Embrace it and thrive. 

Ryland understood that, too. Excel, obviously. But be new and interesting enough to catch attention and differentiate. He’d turned dancing into an exquisite, colorful art. Wonderful to watch, incredible to be part of whenever his friend decided to drag him along. 

Truthfully, he hadn’t expected to get a job that fast, really. Right place, right time. Like always. How many times had he heard that it was ‘his lucky day’ in his life? Too many to count.

But there it was — same with his new little shoebox apartment. Someone had just moved out, could he move in next week? The rent was way cheaper than Dalaran. He had just enough on hand to pay the deposit right then. 

How fortunate. 

He’d expected it to be more of a journey, mentally and physically. Quel’thalas really wasn’t his favorite place, but here he was again. Blending in like he hadn’t been raised in a cult that was entirely antithetical to the kingdom’s existence. How clandestine that he’d gotten away before things got really bad. 

Sera sighed and watched an enchanted broom fail and slap against a wall over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. Stuck in a loop. He lifted up his comm and took a short video, puffs of dust and arcane sparkle erupting from the bristles with each impact. It was funny in its own way for a city that prided itself on order. 

He shot it off to the group message to his two best friends << Want to hang out? Dinner and drinks on me. >>

My to-watch list is pretty short now and it's not especially satisfying to write about movies while trying not to say too much about what happens in them, plus I barely like Instagram anymore (where these posts are focused), so it'll probably at least be a while before there's another post like this. But never you think that I don't want to talk about movies!! (Oops, I never noticed I wrote the wrong year for Alien. It's right in the alt text because I typed it all first and then copied it down!)

Saw (2004) is a very silly movie that manages to stay enjoyable the whole way through. Aside from a few good bits, I didn't like Saw II (2005). There were too many characters, underdeveloped, so that even in context it just felt cruel to kill them off. I like engaging with the mechanisms of the games, and yeah the point of the games is violence, but the second movie felt like it didn't care about the game part. It made some good moves as a sequel, but the first one was a lot more fun.

Rather than telling me a story, Dirty Dancing (1987) felt like it was telling me about a story. I liked watching the dancing, and I liked the story that was being summarized, so I liked the movie, but it was strange how much of it just felt like information. Even though the plot was a bit convenient, the great variety of relationships made it feel like a genuine world.

The first time I watched I Saw the TV Glow (2024), I didn't know what I was in for; I kind of stumbled home in a daze of delight and sadness. Movies are such a capacious medium and I love it when that potential is actually used. It also feels good to watch something where the queer interpretation is not just a side effect yet it's still abstract and metaphorical.

We're All Going to the World's Fair (2021) is a super effective movie about watching other people's videos. In reviews I saw, I thought people credited it with a lot that wasn't actually there—only a place was set, which the viewer automatically filled. It didn't resonate with me as much, but I think it's cool to be put through the same sort of process as the characters.

Pretty much everything I wrote in my journal about The Sixth Sense (1999) is using it as a comparison to clarify other things, so I don't know what to say about it on its own. I enjoyed watching it.

After that I rewatched some stuff.

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) is great. It really lets you sink in, and there's a lot to sink into, both visually and conceptually.

Blade Runner (1982) seemed more self-contained and a lot easier to follow this time through. I liked it overall but it's so bleak. I guess it's supposed to make me think about what it means to be human but "either you're a cop or a little guy" is the undisputed thesis statement I heard.

The Thing (1982) remains one of my top favorite movies (which is a list I haven't written, but "I Saw the TV Glow" is on it too). I hadn't even remembered a solid half of the great special effects moments because there's just so many.

Alien (1979) didn't work out as well. I still think it's a good movie, but it turns out a lot of what I liked about it was the suspense that doesn't hold up when I know what's going to happen. I know people love to analyze this movie but it's just not catching me that way.

Challengers (2024) is all about three random people I don't have any reason to care about... plus I don't care about tennis. It's not really my kind of movie. That said, it's just about as satisfying as it could possibly be.

Pulse (2001) is really sad. What if the loneliness was never ending! It's a high quality, coherent representation, and then it just exists and there's nothing you can do about it. (Also it definitely should have been called Circuit.)

I watched Happy Death Day (2017) because I love time loops a lot. It didn't give me more than that, but it was easy enough to sit through. I think it could've pushed its concepts further but at least it didn't fall apart.

Of course then I had to rewatch Groundhog Day (1993), which I'd mostly forgotten, and I was delighted to discover that this movie rocks. It's efficient, covering a lot of ground without feeling distant or dense, and it really felt convincing.

Nightcrawler (2014) is brutal, unforgiving, and a great movie. Lou isn't a defeatable villain; he's a concentration. This movie refuses to lie, and that feels good even though the things it's saying don't.

Just finished watching all of Kim Possible for the first time ever (and in English) and man, it's such a great show.

I did watch it as a kid whenever it aired in Finnish. (I miss those fun school mornings...) The dub was ok as well, though I won't go back to that again. Did check for some clips and I'm glad I was able to watch it back then, but CCR and Will Friedle are so good. The others are too, ofc.

Anyway, back then it was all tainted by my own feelings, cuz I too had a guy childhood best friend I had feelings for. I saw him and myself in them and wanted the same yadda yadda yadda. Well, stuff happened and we haven't talked in at least a year. No big, pfft.

At least this time I got to enjoy this show without them stupid feelings affecting my experience lol. (Except with the So the Drama "a loop has been formed and I'm not in it" and all the Ron feelings about Kim finding someone else. Ugh, been there.)

Anyway, binge watching gave me a completely new experience. Not much shipping related stuff in the first 2 seasons, though there were some I giggled over and replayed to analyze. Mostly just best friends being best friends. No significant awkwardness.

Seasons 3 and 4 though? GAHH. So much ship teasing. Emotion Sickness is my absolute fav episode with Kim getting a device that controls emotions and makes her fall in love with Ron, and the guy's so confused but also so so lovestruck. (He didn't know abt the device at first btw)

I love all those soff little Ron moments, I keep replaying them over and over.

"It (them dating) could happen!"

"It's not that I haven't thought about it, I mean who hasn't?"

"What's not to like about Kim? She's smart and cute..."

"Something's different now. I mean there's something between us... Who am I kidding, that's not different. There's been something there for a long time. I think there's something there. Does she?"

Gahhh I love soff Ron so much.

Also yes I am the type to rewatch all the soft and kissy scenes over and over, there are others too since compilation videos exist!!

Anyway, just realized how most of their kisses are initiated by Kim, but my favourites? (Lol that feels cringe to say. Fav kisses? Pfft) Either both going in or initiated by Ron! (The Emotion Sickness one is great too, Ron's so love struck!!! Adorable.)

-> So the Drama dance scene (THEY'RE SO SOFF GO LOOK AT THEIR FACES), one where they run into each other's arms, and the final one where Ron places his hands on her face and goes in first.

I never knew how much I wanted to do a forehead touch->kiss or have someone hold my face like that.

Also S1 EP1 Ron voice superiority. So low and cute. That makes me swoon. Gahhhh. Rewatched the first few minutes and DANG I WISH HE KEPT THAT VOICE. I'm barely able to form a sentence rn. Gahh.

Also adore all the denial scenes, Kim's too. Girl's so jealous of Yori. "Awk-weird" to bring your best friend as a kinda date to an event? Oh yeah, feed me. I love the awkward pre-dating stage so much that I'm mad my Sonic fic doesn't have more of it lol.

All the tiny nods to stuff changing during season 3? Ron going "She's not my girlfriend!!" to Shego of all people, all of a sudden and without probing, just cuz she asked where Kim was! I love him.

Also, the theme song is banger. Also also, I set the communicator beep-beep-be-beep as my notif sound. Kinda confusing while watching, though, heh.

Was that all? I think so, maybe. I'm pretty sure no one will read this but hey, what is Tumblr for if not stuff like this. Yay for fictional men and couples!

As a final note, I don't think Ron's an absolute swoon worthy guy (barely feel compelled to draw him), I just appreciate guys being soft. Yes, go talk about your feelings and yes, stutter your way to victory!

My Go-To Jayam Ravi Simping Vids

Alright, as I promised, here it is - @balladedutempsjadis and @thirst4light, this is dedicated to you.

Yes, Jayam Ravi snatched all of our hearts in PS. This scene - god, this scene in particular - hasn't left my mind in months:

But it needs to be known that this man is not just serving looks now - in fact, he's been serving looks for basically the past 20 (!) years. So, here, I'm highlighting a few of my fav songs that I always go back to when I'm in simping mode:

Ayyo Ayyo

This movie basically put JR on the map all the way back in 2004, and the songs definitely had a large role in that. These two are both fab dancers and have such good chemistry (and I just think they both look really friggin cute in this song lol).

2. Chennai Senthamizh

Is it cheating to list two songs from the same movie? Probably. But JR and Asin's chemistry is off the charts (again), this song is one of my absolute favorites, and if you end up staring at her dancing instead, you can just put the video on loop like I do 🤗

3. Nenjil Nenjil

Harris Jayaraj ruled South Indian music for a period of my childhood - and this album is one of the prime reasons why. This song is one of my all time favs, and is also from the beginning of what i call JR's snacc era - man really chose to bulk up when he hit 30 (and you can clearly see it lol). Thee Illai from this movie is also a dream, but I like the picturization here more than that one.

4. Senthoora

This song was everywhere when it came out - the vocals are absolutely mesmerizing, but I think JR looks pretty damn fine here too lol. Also, if you're in the mood for something a little more...spicy - Vaarai Vaarai from the same movie might be worth a look hehe.

I have other recs as well, but we can leave it for now - other than one honorable mention: Azhiyilae. I just have memories of my parents throwing a pillow at my face whenever this song came on lol, so it didn't make the actual list, but this is the one romantic song that pissed JR's wife (then girlfriend) off lol, so had to include it!

🫧🔆⛵️more from a few sketchbooks i drew in last summer :]!

this is a collection of my deepswim fanart, an original story comic i made with my iambic pentameter (rainworld x chonny jash) iterators. the text contains an introduction and entire telling of deepswim’s plot so far. each blurb (mostly) doesn’t relate to the images. the deepswim comic itself has a lot more in store, so reading this won’t spoil everything, but feel free to scroll if you’d rather experience it fresh (when i post it eventually). i’m very passionate about it, so onward ^_^💛⭐️!

DEEPSWIM OVERVIEW: desperation, underwater environments, brotherly bonding, and a lesson on life’s resilient beauty

it’s still quite a wip of a story, but it came to me in the summer of 2023 while dealing with acid reflux and other hellish health issues. the entire idea unfolded in my head when listening to Curicó by Kiltro for the first time, and i sketched + colored many pages to that single song looped for 6 hours straight the next day. it turned into a comic that became bigger than i expected!

HRT, MND, and SUL (rainworld hms) are staying in a beach house somehow and there’s a dock that looks out to a huge lake. something happens prior and SUL falls into the unknown ecosystem.

weak and now gauging his choices, he sinks to the seafloor in regret (which is conveniently covered in bubbleroot). on the shore, HRT, having heard SUL fall(?), begs MND to investigate below the surface. begrudgingly, MND accepts and donns a helmet i nicknamed an ‘airorb’ (made by Seas of course). I still don’t know why he didn’t bring two. the story’s rough around the edges but I still love it with all my h(ea)rt.

He finds SUL half-filled with water and unable to move. stuck laying along the bubbleroot floor and unable to use any more of it. MND panics, and lends his helmet to SUL. it works, but it seems like he’s already dead. MND pushes through his hopelessness, initiates cpr aanndd,,,,that’s how far the color has gotten.

however, as you can tell from the drawings above, that’s not the end of the story. the rest has been planned but not put down on paper. SUL is saved from the brink of death, gasping awake and aching all over. he helps MND use the bubbleroot (who hasn’t up to this point because he is strong willed and stubborn on the idea of [when he can breathe, i can too]) and they rest together. relieved and tired.

and then another character arrives! an eel lizard (with legs. both because of me forgetting and also lore) named ursula is upset by all the ruckus—and also acts as a metaphor for SUL’s guilt. a quarrel ensues!! stuff happens!! cool comic panel ideas arise!! and that’s what i have so far.

deepswim means a lot to me :]. it’s rough and a bit old, but I love it very much. Curicó by Kiltro is considered it’s themesong, and I’m so happy it is. i discovered the band slowly with the help of CheetahZ’s Serpent Sol map (i don’t want to get into all the drama so i’ll just leave it there), and am so thankful I did. Curicó really helped spur my thoughts on the comic’s atmosphere during the wonderful ‘get this idea down on paper!’ period of deepswim’s first pages on that fateful day.

Kiltro was my first concert, actually. i vividly remember trying to communicate ‘a warrior cats map’ as an answer to where i found their music when asked by the bassist while buying a limited edition merch shirt. i remember standing in the bar under a speaker during the show, watching the audience dance around me, and videoing almost the entire thing. and of course, the selfie with the lead singer Chris Bowers Castillo sits blue and framed on my desk to this day. I love all of their music and am so happy to have found them.

i know the reason why SUL fell off that dock. at the time of creating the comic, (and as mentioned briefly before) i was dealing with the aftermath of a nasty sickness, and my days were filled with the worst anxiety i’ve ever had because of it. it wasn’t specifically an eating disorder (well, by definition it might’ve been), but my morning acid reflux tricked my anxiety into thinking my health was in danger if i ate anything until around noon. things got better when i recognized the cause (anxiety), and mom bought me propel electrolyte water to help me recover. keep in contact with your body, kids.

deepswim was the hyperfixation i needed to relieve my stress and express myself in a really hard time. a lot of my hopelessness was relieved with this comic as an outlet, and i’m so very thankful. i was drawing the lesson of nature’s beauty as i learned it myself, and i think that’s really special.

deepswim’s entirety was me retreating inward on my interests and combining things I loved most, and along the way having SUL discover the beauty of life in his own troubled time. it was a reminder of nature, emotional resilience, and an experiment in graphic design that i hold near and dear to my heart ^_^💛

So I’ve Decided To Start A Blog About Music And Parties

the idea came to me on a break at work after leaving my phone at home, my mind never clearer… i should be blogging about music. pitchfork is dead, first of all, and third of all it’s something i cannot live without, so why not?

I’m not sure of the “” format “” this will take but right now i’ll just write things as they come?? and part of my love for music is of course parties. they’re still so life giving to me and i still think nothing is better than dancing with gay ppl some of whom are my friends and hearing them dj. some of them are even good! it’s just spaces of eternal and endless flowing love. anyways.

arianka is back!! when i first heard yes, and?, i thought “alright miss grande this is cute!” and it’s grown on me ever since. I’ve been anticipating this album, seeing what direction she would go. i’ve been listening to sweetener every day for the last few weeks mostly because the eating 4 free series on ariana recontextualized her… everything, i guess?? i’d always seen her as just like a Nickelodeon product industry plant which as a certified quirky-not-like-other-girl syndrome haver did not interest me. i was still listening ofc but i wasn’t invested like i was in say lady gaga (and oh how the tables have turned on stefani the pharmacy tech but i digress!) anyways the five part e4f series on her, how she got started with looping covers of imogen heap on youtube, her serious involvement in the production of all her albums, really digging into the pain and scrutiny she’s been through from her time with The TV Producer Who Shall Not Be Named to the donut incident (which i always thought was a slay) to the literal Manchester bombing, her relationships especially with mac miller… not gonna call myself an arianator or w/e but i am a fan now, especially after relistening.

before i get into the album i just want to say this: the music video for we can’t be friends was adorable! it’s very sad that we don’t get music videos anymore because they’re not profitable or useful for marketing. still haven’t seen the yes and video but i’ll get to it. my main point is that give evan peters a stingy little mustache, grow his hair out a little longer, and he could pass for spongebob slater! so many people on twitter are mocking him for his looks/ariana for being with him but gassing up evan. look, ethan is… not a guy i would approach in a bar let’s say, but i’d let him buy me a drink, you know? and if we’re to believe ariana on supernatural and ordinary things, they have something special! tweets will go viral about “every hot girl needs a medium ugly bf” but she’s not allowed to do it? anyways.

if you detect a pivot in tone here, it’s because i’m no longer blogging with a sour cream donut and 3/4 of a dunkin latte with oatmilk and nothing else fueling my body, sun glowing through the clouds and full of optimism.. there’s a harried blogging now while i try and finish this before i hop in the shower to get ready for a hookup tonight. also, i’ve been thinking and listening to eternal sunshine again, reading and digesting lyrics and of course many many stan tweets about it.

first, i’d like to amend something i stated earlier that i refuse to edit: evan peters represents dalton her ex(?) husband, not ethan. (side note: i wonder if she’s thought back to the line in thank u, next where she says she hopes she’ll only get married once. either way the song is still a smash!) i of course forgive my confusion because, for reasons unknown even to myself, i assumed the majority of this album was about the forbidden romance that soon overflowed into her public relationship with spongebob, but it’s not! this is very much a breakup album and nobody is bored in it.

i’m really fascinated by this because ariana took such a turn in disappearing from the public eye after getting together with dalton (which was certainly aided by the pandemic). as a non-stan, i couldn’t tell you what little she HAS been putting out, but if the inimitable joan summers couldn’t find pictures of her for a two year period, it’s safe to say she was lying low. and yes there have been jokes and supposition about “ariana wasn’t allowed to talk about the divorce as per their agreement but she sang about it~~” BUT! if we take that into consideration (and also rely on the journalistic analysis of e4f), most of the negative press and comments came from dalton and his camp. divorce agreements and technicalities of speech aside, i think she chose a much kinder way to speak about their relationship. even she says she wishes she hated him (knowing very little about their relationship, I’m happy to hate him off of the line about him turning the tv up on her crying) but she doesn’t! even with songs like the boy is mine, supernatural, and ordinary things, she really details a story of a relationship disintegrating with both her and dalton finding other people. it’s certainly not the cheating homewrecker story everybody was running with months ago. even if the arianators turn on dalton, he’s still spared any real damage to his reputation because she doesn’t paint him as a monster, scoundrel, narcissist, etc. not to get too “a man can laugh but a woman can only chortle” about it, but i hope people who wrote ariana off listen and reconsider that despite the tabloids and the lyrics, none of us know what went down in that marriage.

okay but what about the music? this will maybe be the shortest part of this blog (oops!), but I’m really fascinated with the narrative around and in the album. the music, I’ll probably need to listen for another week before i have anything worthwhile to say (i need to go full geek on it). keeping it brief, it felt very airy. sonically it sounds like the imaginary room the cover was shot in: spacious and full of sunbeams. something about some of the songs (wait for your love and yes, and?) felt very 80s to me, but i’d need a psychoanalyst to explain that to me. you still hear an rnb influence throughout, but why wouldn’t you? obviously the boy is mine, but true story as well with the bass straight out of “pony” by ginuwine and a drum pattern (pattern, not sample, don’t get it twisted) similarly to “don’t hurt yourself” by beyoncé. my personal favorite of the album was imperfect for you, but i’m a sucker for a pedal tone that creates dissonance, what can i say?
