My family used to have two antique Buffalo hides. Not bison, actually Buffalo, that were over 100 years old. No one else in the family wanted them, so now they belong to a local Indigenous public school, along with a 20 year old black bear rug, and that makes me very happy.

Even happier that it took me less than 10 minutes to find a home for them, and a backup, and I still had lots of other folks I could have asked.

#I'm constantly surprised by the depth of my network #for someone who used to be such an extrovert #and actually had to go to the school counselor in elementary schooo #because I had no friends #and I'm thrilled they're going to a school #I can't think of a better use for them #than helping city kids to connect with their heritage and culture #it's rare that I have the opportunity to make a material contribution #as reparations #and a gesture of reconciliation #if anyone is gonna own part of a buffalo #it should be them #This isn't me trying to get a pat on the back #I just have very few ppl in my life that would understand why it's important #and it was a tumblr post that inspired me to give them to an Indigenous group in the first place #maybe this one will reach someone else one day #and inspire them to return something too

Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

Peeta buring the bread and tossing some to her then taking a beating from his mom is a HUGE thing in the books.#he used his resources to help her like you all said someone should.#district 12 DID (rip) care about Katniss before the hunger games. why do you think she was allowed to hunt? or how her trades were good #these are the little ways 12 can shows Katniss they love her. but again Katniss doesn't see this and YES its because she had ptsd before the #hunger games as well. i swear some of you make it seem like d12 was all living a life of luxury and glaring down at Katniss.#other things that show Katniss is in hight standing with at least her people of d12 is her dad was known enough through d12 for peeta dad to #comment on his singing along with his commenting on her mom. also her mom is a healer in the community. yeah her parents arnt the top but #of d12 but they are/were definitely high staning in the Seam.

Okay. But you're not killing cops or firebombing government offices. You are posting on a dying microblogging website to a carefully-curated echo chamber that has radicalized itself into thinking that taking the absolute most extreme position on any subject is praxis but that anyone discussing the most practical way to effect actual change is your sworn enemy. You do not have the street cred OR the activist cred to be talking about killing cops, babe.
