Controversial opinion: Vox's design sucks
...
Because he should be wearing a NORMAL TIE. not a BOWTIE. It would:
Add to his businessman persona
Give a place for that wifi symbol to go that isn't awkward
Be a good opposing design to Alastor's bowtie
Potentially give the idea he's moved away (or attempting to) from Alastor. Especially if they had it that Vox USED to wear a bowtie.
Also, we joke about it but seriously, why does everyone have a bowtie when it doesn't make sense for some characters like Husk--
I rest my case your honors.

I was walking Egon before going to bed last night around midnight and this guy with his hood up came out of the park across the street and started walking straight at us while staring like the ghost from It Follows and I just looked at him and Egon just looked at him and nobody reacted and last minute he turned the other way just before reaching us and I'm still trying to decide if he was trying to psych me out or if he was just oblivious to how aggressive that looked.

Me normally: Let people love what they love
Me, after a Test Match Special commentator expresses their belief that the new All Creatures Great and Small is somehow "better" than the 1978 version: This is pure insanity and TMS can no longer be trusted on anything, how can they even be trusted to know about cricket, do they have no TASTE
#Look it's fine that this show exists and people will watch it and like it and that's ok maybe it's just not for me#But that was like a statement purely designed to piss me off#There were lots of issues with the 1978 adaptation! I still vastly preferred the books any day!#And I actually initially had high hopes for the new one because they at least cast a Scot (albeit a Highlander not a Clydesider) as James#And the actors at least looked a little bit younger than Christopher Timothy and Robert Hardy#And thank god Helen actually sounds like she's a farmer's daughter and doesn't speak RP!#But from the half hour I've seen of it I've had to write off this new adaptation#For two major reasons#First of all there's Siegfried#Siegfried is one of the key central aspects of the vibe of the books and therefore key to any adaptation#Robert Hardy was too short and too old for the part but he lived and breathed the character#The twinkle in the eye bouncing off the walls and in and out of rooms followed by half a dozen dogs utterly full of life even when angry#But this new Siegfried is just sort of... Eeyore-esque; he comes into a room and you can see the flowers droop and the set turn grey#Siegfried was angry Siegfried was happy and the historical character he was based on was no stranger to melancholy#Since Donald Sinclair did commit suicide or rather self-euthanasia after Alf Wight and his own wife Audrey died#But this slow grumbly figure in the new adaptation is not Siegfried Farnon- the book character didn't grumble more often he exploded#And why did the adaptation give him a dead wife that's so weird? What could that possibly add to the source material?#And this brings me onto my second problem which is to do with women and age#Firstly I have no idea why they aged down Mrs Hall or at least made her look younger than a woman her age would have back then#But what really drove me mad was when Heriot goes out to see some old woman hill farmer in the episode I saw#And this woman is far too clean and young-looking and you can see that she's wearing 'natural' look make-up#And a perfect set of clothes that looked like they were straight out of the House of Bruar autumn collection catalogue#Say what you like about the 1978 adaptation but old women looked like old women regardless of whether or not they wore make-up#It may be that the better quality of television screens means that the 'natural look' shows up on screen more clearly than it would have#But natural look make-up was not really a thing in the 1930s and for old women Yorkshire hill farmers I doubt they'd have much on at all#They just don't seem to be capable of allowing people to look old and wrinkled and real or have bad teeth or unattractive clothes#And everything is far too tidy- everybody looks far too perfectly country and quaint#Anyway the moral of this story is of course that I always recommend reading the books because they're much better#than any tv adaptation; but if forced to choose at least the 1970s one felt real and yet didn't have to be grim either#Ok that's my rant over please do feel free to enjoy the show I just got annoyed because the opinion was expressed on TMS

Something pet owners (mostly dog owners) really hate to hear is that your pet cannot communicate to you what their quality of life is after you've dumped a few grand on surgery or whatever and you might have just burnt a ton of money and decided to make your pet live in pain for the rest of its life 🤷🏼
#This isn't really spurred by anything besides seeing a video where a rescue dog had a leg amputated#Like sorry guess I'm an asshole but. Maybe we could just put that one down. There's a trillion rescue dogs we do not need to save every#Single one of them forever. Same goes for cats and the neuter and release thing#It sucks but kill shelters aren't like... Ontologically evil there just isn't enough people to take every animal off the street/out of a bad#Situation#So maybe if the animal is going to have a massively life changing operation in order to maybe have a sort of decent quality of life#We could just not take that risk and put the poor thing down?#Same goes if you put your animal through surgery it'll likely have to go through multiple times* or you just can't guarantee#It'll fix the problem or not result in more pain for the animal#Sorry I had a dog put down when I was a small kid bc he kept getting a tumor n my parents were like look we can't afford it#N we don't know how he's feeling during or after the surgery. So it's better to just let him go.#N that made so much more sense to me than pouring money into a hole for nothing

I feel like I see much more complaining about innocent sad mom girlboss fandomized Artificer than i actually see innocent sad mom girlboss Artificer. Past like, jokes about them being a girlboss. Which don't count.
#Theres like maybe 3 or 4 people i can name who do a -MUCH- sympathetically angled or apologetic artificer and its#largely done in a sort of AU way or focusing on different things#increasingly convinced half this argument just comes from 'if you write them as anything less than genocidal maniac and focus at all on#artificers own grief or reaction youre trying to Ignore the Murder' which like#idk the reasons and effects of those actions are interesting things and yes some people do want to look at why people turn out the way they#do without it immediately being 'actually the bad part doesnt matter'#people like villain redemption arcs!! people like thinking villains can change!! its not that weird they get that kinda angle#not to mention that theres a big split in the sapience/intelligence levels people ascribe to the slugcats and scavengers#for me artificers just a few steps above a particularly neurotic dog in terms of scavengers#so yeah im not particularly out to ascribe them as some immoral monster its just a uniquely destructive and very unwell animal#they would not get their ass adopted at the shelter!!! bite warning bite warning!!

Avenday when she was a baby. The size of two praying mantises
#Emu does art#when you are seven and a half months old and not very large but by god your neck and tail started growing before anything else#she was the size of One tiny praying mantis when she hatched so. That’s a bit to grow in seven months#technically speaking her legs would have started growing a little but then the neck and tail started very fast#and maybe her wings along with the legs#at some point the wings stop growing to match her size so she can’t fly anymore#I’ve got a lot in my head about the goop creatures. Anatomy and also they grow sorta weird?#Avenday is very visibly bug like when she’s younger#and then she starts becoming like those aquatic bugs/birds I think#and then she looks more mammalish?#by the time she’s ten she’s the size of a large dog#gets to pony size by twelve?#and then a big growth spurt 13-16#in which she starts getting longer prongs on her antenna/antlers#gets more glowspots. and gets a spikier carapace sort of#her carapace would start around 3? But only get really tough at 8#and that would also be the time her colour patterns solidify more#when she’s past 20 she’ll start growing like a spiky fur ruff.#her tongue would be like a butterfly thing until shes 4-6#and then it’s like a cat but much longer#So. as if I don't have enough going on in my life, my Cringe Ankle™ is continuing to be cringe as fuck
#I rolled it a few days ago#don't know what happened. I was walking one second and the next my ankle went under me and I was going down.#accidentally clipped poor Neko on the way down#and I just sort of laid there for a second before getting back up#it does seem to be just a roll. no swelling or bruising or the specific pain of a sprain.#but it does seem to have set me back a bit bc I'm once again getting aches#WHERE I HAD CEASED ACHING#like look I know that recovery isn't linear esp with a complicated injury like mine#but COME ON I was doing SO WELL#the agonizingly slow PT was WORKING#the worst part is I don't know what happened#I'm thinking maybe I slipped on a dog toy?#otherwise it literally just happened while I was walking which is uh Bad#I haven't had instability like that in months thanks to PT#anyways I wore my brace to work the rest of the week and toned down my at home PT exercises#but I'm pissed#I also think I bruised my knee when I feel and slightly pulled a muscle in my left arm#tho those could have happened from literally anything bc I'm accident prone and bruise easily!#speechie sucks at health#(more like speechie sucks at ankles jfc)#speecher speaks
