A film set to unwinnable expectations. Too “woke” for having Halle Bailey play Ariel; not “woke” enough because it is still a classic fairytale written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1837, where a princess falls in-love with a prince.

What I saw was a fabulous live-action adaptation. The acting & music is truly on-point.

Disney also added backstory to the Prince, which was very worthwhile storytelling. Visually, it was a stunning movie. The water effects on the hair are a sight-to-behold. And if you’ve seen Pirates of the Caribbean, it is that style/mood mixed with Disney magic & great songs.

Though the 2023 live-action will never be our cartoon imagination from childhood, the original film from 1989 will always be there for us to watch over-and-over again.

However, if you watch the other live-action Disney adaptations, this one truly is the best one by far. Some just want to hate it for whatever reason.

Halle Bailey did a phenomenal job as Ariel & I saw many African American kids in the audience at the theatre. Representation matters ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Go see The Little Mermaid!! It is the right film for the moment — a moment where Disney is being banned in Florida.

GB Patch Games: 2024 Intentions

Welcome to 2024, everybody 🥳️

This is the year of Our Life: Now & Forever (and 2025 will be too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves that much). After a good five odd years of making Our Life: Beginnings & Always content, it's amazing to look ahead and see only the progress that will be done on this new game. Qiu and Tamarack are the center of the GB Patch Games universe now. But even though I'm not creating any new OL1 scenes, there may still be some exciting developments for the existing stuff. Cove hasn't been forgotten.

If you want to know about what will be accomplished specifically in January, you can read that HERE. Now here's the entire year's goals-

Honestly, 2024 is gonna be the most basic year in a very long time, haha. There's not gonna be major launches of new DLCs, or a full game going live, or any bonus Moments. It's simply making progress on OL: N&F. That's pretty normal for game development. It's just not something we've had to go through since 2019. But we're hunkering down for the long haul on this one.

Specifically, Step 1 will be fully completed in 2024 and I'll make as much headway into Step 2 as possible. There will be two updates to the public demo, one probably in May and another sometime in Fall/Third Quarter 2024. Those will focus on Step 1 scenes still. I can't guarantee we'll be able to rework the Step 2 part of the demo with new content this year. As it is, the content was made to be a demo preview. A lot is gonna change for the complete version.

And that's about it for our main game. I appreciate all of you who decide to follow along with the process.

Beyond that, the Our Life: Beginnings & Always digital artbook is going to become available through Steam and Itch.io in early 2024! Maybe not January, but ideally no later than February.

Finger's crossed, we will also launch Our Life: Beginnings & Always for Mac on Steam and make it available for Androids through the Google Playstore. I can't state it with confidence, since there's constantly been roadblocks/issues with those, aha.

My final little note for this coming year is that, potentially, there could be more information coming out about the game that's going into production after OL2, "Project W".

And that's what you can look forward to. Every year I'm amazed I can continue to do this as my fulltime job. I'm always wondering when that will end, but I'd be lying if I said I could see that point. The support GB Patch Games has gotten, and still gets each day, is more than enough to for it to continue for the rest of OL2's development.

I'm pretty confident in assuming that when that game does launch it's going to be successful enough for Project W to go into full production. It's a truly wonderful thing. Thank you so much for being here. We'll do our best with the time and attention you've given us.

I'm doing well, and I hope you are as well! I love seeing when you send asks in so I'll make the time! These will be a bit vague due to encroaching into spoiler territory. Below the cut! (they ended up much longer than intended!)

❤️ Cam - He wakes up first, but in fear that this is just something he dreamt up, he refuses to move. He will be afraid that whatever led to this moment will dissipate as soon as you wake. Cam will be so anxious, unknowingly fidgeting, which is what would cause you to wake.

Depending on certain things, he will even go so far as to tell you that it's okay if it was a momentary lapse. It's not like they would be the first two friends in bed together. (Cam is in fact, not okay if that's the case.)

Once he realizes that this wasn't just a one-off, that MC truly wants him of all people, ugh he's going to be insufferable (affectionate). The idea alone will have him raring to go all over again, but he will be happy to just hold MC in his arms. If you thought you carved a spot in his heart already, once he sees his affection is accepted and returned, talk about putty in your hands.

💙 G - There will be some variation depending on if G is an ex or not, if so it then varies depending on if you spent the night with G before. (take that Chris' bed!)

They would be the complete opposite of Cam, they won't wake easily. This will be the best they've slept in a long time, and when they wake that harshness you found in their gaze is gone completely. They're easy to read again, their walls are all but thrown down around you. G won't want to talk about it, not yet.

They want to soak in your presence, and let the warmth of your body cement them to this moment. One that isn't a memory, because they've tortured themselves with those memories for so long. (They might cry...possibly...very likely.)

💚 Kara - She is going to feel a myriad of emotions. Happiness and guilt. She cares for Chris, no matter how much she knows and what she has seen them do. But, she also cares for MC. This only causes her to realize it even more. To see the way her lipstick has smeared across MC's skin, the marks from her nails. There's no denying she enjoyed their time together. But knowing one of the few people she is close to, will hate her for what she has done. That's crushing, it causes a bad taste in her mouth. What she does after is for her to decide, she won't want to stop seeing MC. But, she has to decide what the next step is.

💛 M - You won't find a red deeper than their cheeks. M will burrow their face into MC's neck. They need a minute, more like twenty. They basked in the afterglow once everything was said and done. But now, they're basking in the presence of another person in their bed. The person they gave themselves to, body and soul. They tried to get up throughout the night to write notes. Yes, notes. Because it was different than they imagined. Not in a bad way, but given they had no experience they didn't know what to expect.

All their smooth talking from the night is gone. They're flustered, and happy....and horny..but mainly happy. For all their embarrassment, it won't stop them from gliding their fingers along MC's bare skin. Like they're committing it to memory. The sights, the smells, the sounds. All of it.

💜 Isaac - They can handle it if it was a one-night stand, they can't handle how they feel after. Because they allowed themselves to get close, they wanted to. That simple fact is enough to cause their heart to skip a beat.

They don't know when it got to this point when their eyes would glance at you, and that momentary glance turned into more. Their eyes began to linger, they began to want your company. They were saddened when they couldn't have it.

They're scared by that, and yet feel content as they watch your sleeping face. They want to run out the door and pretend it was a fleeting moment. But the idea of you waking up to their side of the bed empty, causes them to stay.

There comes a point when Isaac drifts off to sleep, the first time they've drifted off to sleep beside someone in a long time. They felt comfortable with you, safe. They want to feel it again, but they don't know if you would allow it. Isaac's conflicted, but they want you.

They want to forget about their doubts and their self-hatred for just a minute. Just a minute as they listen to your soft breath and remember how you smiled at them. That singular moment might have been the nail in their coffin.

🖤 Ardent - The furrowed brow you've come to associate with him, it's nowhere in sight. Neither is he because he woke up over an hour ago, intent on letting you rest, and intent on making a hearty breakfast.

Something to help build up your energy but something to also satisfy that sweet tooth he noticed you have.

His face is the very epitome of pleased. How could he not be? All the back and forth, neither of you could have imagined it would come to this. That might be the best part, it was unexpected. But not unwanted. He savored you like he savored his favorite wine, all your energy spent. The few bits of Greek you've learned came in handy with all the words he spoke to you in the moment.

Ardent is romantic, and caring. Which could be hard to believe. He cleaned you up with so much care you had to question if it was truly him doing it.

He's vetted calls for you for two hours, intent on you not being woken up. He's very much giving househusband material, especially with the apron tied around his waist as he brings you breakfast in bed. Talk about a gentleman. (Cupid is even surprised.)

The story will be diff obvi as Jennika won’t be a raphael clone that’d be boring. She has her own dreams and destiny which conflict w Raphael’s overprotective parenting and worry which went overdrive after Mikey’s disappearance.

Venus: imagine living in the shadow of someone ya never even met and ur constantly second guessing if ur acting in such a way in order to keep ur fam happy or if u r truly living as urself. Rip to Venus she is a ray of sunshine and optimism with a flair for rustling up good natured trouble which often invokes her loved ones to draw connections to Mikey. Venus is a people pleaser to a drastically toxic point where she’ll ignore all of her own issues and worth so long as her loved one(s) are doing ok. Shes learning magic from Shinigami and is killing it ✨

Y’thann: most likely to plan and win an all out war! He’s very analytical and quick thinker however he’s the most arrogant little shit you would ever meet. It was visible that your friend, Jennifer (or, well, Jenjen💞❤️😎💙 — as the girl had picked out her own contact name) was calling you. “—oh.”

Jen doesn’t call you often, so it’s strange that she did. You gesture to reach your phone from Nayeon’s delicate hands, only to have your own slapped, instead.

“What are you thinking? Don’t fucking answer.” She lifts an eyebrow at you, pulling herself up to her elbows.

Daring you to misbehave, to not listen to her clear commands. You know how well Nayeon loves this game, how she delights herself in punishing you whenever you do something she deems as wrong — even if you haven’t actually disobeyed her. She just revels in doing as such: messing with you as she pleases. You’re her property, after all. Her little doll, to play and deal with however she wanted to.

And you know better than to not follow her blindly.

You’ll deal with Jen later, you decide. For now, you allow Nayeon to pull you by the hair, bringing your focus back to her delicious moans as your mouth finds her stiffened nipples once again.

“Hi, Nayeon. Is everything ok?” Your eyes brightened at the sight of her, looking so composed and lavish in her work clothes, bunny smile and shiny eyes presented all for you.

She could be a bitch and a pain in the ass if she wanted to, specially when dealing with work stuff, but she was always caring towards you. Never rude, never impatient.

“Well hello, princess. Don’t you have classes to attend to?” you giggled at the older woman, jumping in bed and taking her— or your phone, for what it mattered, with you.

“Technically, yes.” you told her, after a few seconds of fake pondering, “I’m ditching today, though. There’s this super difficult test on Friday, and I’m barely halfway done with reviewing, so I’m picking my battles.”

She knew this beforehand, of course. You’d given her your schedule when the semester had started, just so you’ll be aware, you’d told her. Truly, it was just natural for you to have her know your routine: it made you feel safe, cared for, and she liked it as well.

You tried to recognize if she was in her hotel room, but her background was a bit different from where you had FaceTimed last night; the walls were too white, and she had headphones on.

Most likely still at work, then.

“Smart girl, picking your battles.” Oh. There it was again, that tone. The one that made you tremble with anticipation, readjusting yourself in bed, so you could have some friction in between your thighs.

It was no surprise that Nayeon preferred to be taken care of. She did spend most of her time bossing people around, after all. Of course, you were more than pleased to give her that, treating and handling her just how she wanted you to, while she rewarded you with expensive gifts and trips. However, most of the time, she’d use you for stress-relief: groping and marking your skin until her anger was gone, and she could dote on her little doll again.

“Fine. Is it better, now?” You muttered, but Nayeon scoffed, still not fully satisfied.

She licked her lips, pleased to have you following her orders.

“Much better, princess. Now, let me see you.” You were curious to see how far she’d go, so you placed your phone on the other end of the bed, allowing her to see every inch of your exposed skin. Even with your panties and a sweatshirt on, you still felt completely exposed to her gaze.

Truth be told, you did feel that way even when you were fully clothed around her, too.

“So pretty. Are you alone?” She praised you, her onyx eyes leaving your body for a few seconds to search for any signs of other people at the dorm.

Jen also has a full day of classes today. A private practice too, I think. She’ll be out until late.” You feel better, seeing the smile of approval on your lover’s lips.

She was looking at you with such lust, it made your heart break with how much you missed her.

“I want to touch you so bad.” you whined, motioning yourself further so you could hold the phone and be near her —at least virtually, again.

“Don’t move the phone. I want you exactly like this.” The answer came almost immediately, though Nayeon’s eyes did soften at your pleading. “I miss you too, pretty girl. The good news is: I’ve closed the deal earlier than expected, so I’ll be home by tomorrow.” You smiled contentedly, humming in response. “Now, be a good girl and make a show for me, will you?” she asked, eyeing you attentively.

“Not fair.” you mumble, but your hands still went all the way up the thin fabric of your panties to caress yourself. You’re not one to blush, but being stared at by Nayeon suddenly makes you too shy to look at her in the eyes.
