Responses like this are insufferable. No. They found a home for the dog. Just take two seconds to check the blog this is from rather than being judgmental and callous. Also a dog putting their child at risk is not a simple âinconvenienceâ. You truly outed yourself with that line alone.
We have seen enough cases of people keeping high prey drive pets around kids resulting in deaths for both the pet and kids. Or even elders. Or even fit adults. Do yall really wanna insist on pushing for that or risk the babyâs life after all attempted interventions have failed? Life isnât black and white, and the sooner you folks realize that the better off youâll be.
Learn some humanity.
Hey, kind of a long shot but figured it never hurts to ask:
Do any of my followers live or know someone in Oakland, CA whoâs looking for a dog? Our friend Richard and his wife just had a baby and theyâve tried so hard but the new baby and dog are just not compatible.
Heâs about nine, very high energy and affectionate. Not a good fit with kids or cats as heâs pretty high prey drive but very friendly and well socialized otherwise.
Hereâs Milo
Shoot me a DM if interested. Theyâd love to be able to see him sometimes if youâd also like to make friends with some cool nerds.
#so many judgmental people and itâs boggling my mind#as much as Iâm intensely you get an animal and itâs for life type person#I also worked in vet med#Iâm also aware of how sometimes training and meds and all the effort in the world donât always work#love isnât always enough#and seeing it happen real time with clients and patients is the worst#it is so painful for people but there is no easy solution#locking the dog away from the baby will only be neglectful to the dog and still pose risks#after trying meds/training/vet work and continuing to try will pose more and more risks to family and the baby#it is an awful situation but there is no easy answer and I am so sick of folks with no experience with stuff like this insisting otherwise#Iâve seen owners get torn up again and again and again with family members put at risk because something just changes#sometimes thereâs an answer in the enviroment that can be altered but sometimes thereâs not#theyâre animals with instincts and anything can set those instincts off#having to make the hard choices does not mean they suddenly hate their beloved pet#have seen torn up scarred up owners sobbing hysterically at behavioral euths after every other intervention failed#it fucking SUCKS. itâs not desired. but sometimes it is just too dangerous. these are animals and anthropomorphizing helps no one#I would give ANYTHING for it to be easier to know whatâs going on. easier to help. but that isnât reality even with human beings

The rationalization trap
Phantom Alternative
An option that looks real, is typically superior to other choices, but is unavailable (Pratkanis & Farquhar, 1992).
The key to selling a flimflam (i.e., the selling of pseudoscience, fringe science, and other questionable claims) is to sell the phantom as real and possible and something that can be obtained with the right belief, effort, and, of course, money, but, in reality, it is a false dream.
The sale of a phantom begins by creating ostensible solutions to satisfy our most basic needs and desires.
As such, phantoms often purport to provide things such as:
Health (quack cures, diets, âhealingâ rituals, mental health pseudoscience, psychic surgery, faith healing).
Wealth (get-rich-quick schemes, lucky lottery numbers, investment fraud).
Social popularity (weight loss regimes, love potions, dating and romance fraud, becoming an âexpertâ with âsecretâ knowledge about UFOs, the Loch Ness Monster, and the moon landing).
Fear of death and the end of our existence (séances, life-after death claims).
Reduction in the anxiety of lifeâs uncertainties (advice given by horoscopes, astrology, psychic mediums, and other means, phrenology, psychic detectives, conspiracy theories that âmake senseâ of the world and the desires and feelings of those who spread them).
It is relatively easy to create a phantom since it does not actually need to solve these needs, but just appear to do so.
Compounding the problem, itâs often difficult to spot the real from the fake course of action without the needed knowledge, expertise, and critical thinking skills.
Although a phantom dream is imaginary, its impact on our behavior is quite real.
Story-Telling: The Invented Ruse
To allay our concerns, the seller of flimflam invents a ruse or story to make the fake look real (Bell & Whaley, 1991; Clark & Mitchell, 2019)
A good narrative:
helps to guide our thoughts (e.g., the cure is natural and traditional),
determines the credibility of information (e.g., as a natural cure, this makes sense), and
ultimately directs evaluation and choice (e.g., it works for Native Americans and Quakers, why not me?).
As such, stories cement information in our mind and tend to persist even in the face of strong, discrediting information (Anderson et al., 1980; see Pratkanis (2007) for the use of stories in influence).
Tailored Pitches
Fake healers can use the technique of pre-show to gather needed information.
For example: Before the healing event, attendees can fill out prayer cards with their healing requests and other information.
During the service, the fake healer can call out names and appear, by purported divine intervention, to know the personâs illness and personal life story.
Typically, the fake healer will âcureâ shills (plants who fake illnesses) and those with painful health problems for which the pain can be overlooked in the excitement of the moment. The prayer cards (along with Googling and social media) provide the needed information.
Source Credibility and Authority
Two of the most robust research findings in social psychology are as follows: (a) we tend to listen to those who are credible (expert and trustworthy) sources (Hovland et al., 1953); (b) we tend to obey authorities (Milgram, 1974).
The merchant of flimflam leverages these 2 basic human tendencies by creating a persona as a credible authority and then using that persona to hawk a phantom.
Social Consensus and Social Identity
Flimflam merchants will use our social relationships to sell their phantoms by employing the influence tactics of social consensus and social identity.
When we see other people doing something, we are more likely to do the same through the conformity created by social consensus â if everyone is doing it, it must be the right thing to do.
Social consensus engages 2 psychological processes that promote conformity (Deutsch & Gerard, 1955):
information or social proof (âif other people are doing it, it must be correctâ; Cialdini, 1984) and
normative influences or social pressure to agree or go along with the group (âI donât want to be different from the groupâ; Asch, 1951).
The seller of flimflam will manufacture a false consensus (or take advantage of an apparent one). Quack remedies, astrological readings, unproven Covid treatments, get-rich schemes often feature testimonials of people who speak to the âvalueâ of the product.
Once we become engaged with a flimflam, it can provide us with a desired social identity or a sense of who we are based on our reference group memberships, whether they be real or aspirational (Abrams et al., 1990; Kelley & Volkart, 1952; Tajfel, 1981).
Scarcity
Another social influence tactic to make a flimflam look desirable is to make it look scarce (Cialdini, 1984).
Given that phantoms are generally rare, this is rather easily accomplished.
As an effective social influence tactic, scarcity:
plays on a rule in our head, âif it is rare, it must be valuableâ;
creates a sense of urgency and panic that we need to act now and feeling of frustration (reactance) when we do not obtain the phantom; and
inflates our feelings of uniqueness and self-worth when we obtain something that is rare (Pratkanis, 2007).
Information Control: False Accusations, Projection, and Doubt Campaigns
The sellers of flimflam often encounter scientists, journalists, magicians, lawyers, informed citizens, and other âdo-gooders and crusadersâ who use evidence and reason to point out false claims made in selling the phantom.
If left to stand, these criticisms can cut into sales and deflate the entire scheme. As such, the flimflam merchant needs to control the information environment and can do so using at least 3 techniques:
First, the peddler of a flimflam can falsely accuse the critics. Such attacks can be effective because it can result in a negative impression of the target of attack, undermining their reputation (Wegner et al., 1981). In addition, such allegations set up a chilling, coercive effect as others may become fearful of speaking out.
A second information control tool for the flimflam merchant is a variant of the false accusation known as the projection tactic â accusing others of the misdeed you are doing (Rucker & Pratkanis, 2001). In research, we find that a projection attack: (a) focused attention on the accused and away from the person making the accusation, (b) increased the blame placed on the target of projection, and (c) decreased the culpability of the accuser, making the accuser look good and moral for raising such issues. The effects of projection persisted despite attempts to raise suspicions about the motives of the accuser and providing evidence that the accuser was indeed guilty of the deeds.
A third approach to controlling the information environment is through a doubt campaign (Michaels, 2008; Oreskes & Conway, 2010). The purpose of a doubt campaign is not to convince someone of something (say, the value of the flimflam) but instead to raise doubts and confusion about the facts with the goals of (a) making it difficult to know the truth, (b) creating the impression that there is a controversy (when there is little or none), and (c) forestalling any action until the âcontroversyâ is resolved. The doubt campaign was pioneered in the 1950s and 1960s by tobacco companies seeking to dissuade consumers that their products were harmful, but now is used to create doubt and confusion on such issues as climate change, the efficacy of vaccines such as those preventing childhood illnesses and COVID-19, the value of masks for limiting the spread of COVID-19, and evidence against various conspiracy theories.
Self-Generated Persuasion
One of the most effective means of influence is to have the target generate arguments in support of a position and thereby persuade her- or himself (Boninger et al., 1990; Lewin, 1947).
Self-generated persuasion is effective because in essence it asks the target to think up good reasons for a proposition and to refute any counter argument.
This self-generated message comes from a source that is considered credible, trustworthy, respected, and liked â ourselves.
Commitment
In order to establish continued advocacy and use of a flimflam, the seller needs to secure a commitment, especially a public one, from the target.
With a public commitment, a person is linked to a behavior or course of action â in this case, advocating for and using a flimflam.
Breaking this binding produces a negative tension of not living up to oneâs promises and a concern that one will look inconsistent and untrustworthy (e.g., a need to save face). As such, securing a commitment increases the likelihood that the target will comply and perform that behavior (Brockner & Rubin, 1985; Salancik, 1977; Staw, 1976).
Commitments are strongest when the behavior is public/visible, irreversible, and perceived to be freely chosen.
One method for securing a commitment is through the use of the foot-in-the-door tactic (Freedman & Fraser, 1966).
Flimflam is rampant on social media, and we can easily see why.
Social media, with its emphasis on engagement (liking, reposting, posting, commenting, posing, arguing) provides many opportunities to make public, irreversible, and freely chosen commitments (as well as to allow those commitments to be used to create the appearance of social consensus as to the value of the flimflam).
While making a commitment increases compliance, it also results in perhaps the most important ingredient in selling a flimflam: setting a rationalization trap.
The Rationalization Trap
Once a person is sold on a flimflam, and especially when he or she comes to purchase and publically advocate for the phantom option, it changes the way a person processes information.
No longer is the goal âto find things outâ but instead to defend and justify the beliefs and actions in what can be called a rationalization trap (Festinger, 1957; Pratkanis & Shadel, 2005; Tavris & Aronson, 2007).
When a person holds 2 discrepant thoughts, what social psychologists call cognitive dissonance, it results in an aversive tension state with painful implications for the self.
In such a state, we are highly motivated to reduce the dissonance.
Of course, one way to reduce the dissonance is to admit a mistake â I was wrong about the cure â and to take responsibility for oneâs actions by alerting others and rejecting or, at least scrutinizing more carefully, the source of the disinformation about the quack COVID-19 treatment.
While a mature response and what science requires (Feynman, 1985), it is often difficult to take this route to dissonance reduction, especially when we have made public commitments, self-generated arguments, and linked our social identities to the flimflam, in this case, the quack cure.
Admitting a mistake often is taken to mean â to ourselves and to others â that we are not a good and capable person.
After all, we were unable to see through the deception and then told others to do something that might damage their health.
Unfortunately, an all-too-often course of action is to dig in our heels further and to rationalize and justify our behavior.
Some common ways to do this include:
deny the evidence (âthe data showing the ineffectiveness of the cure is made-upâ),
take some irrelevant aspect of the disagreeable research and pretend that it is damning (âthe study was only done in New Yorkâ),
derogate the source (âthatâs from the biased media and the doctorsâ unionâ),
derogate others who expose the quackery (ânurses and doctors donât care about peopleâ),
perform a selective information search (search out and spread any study or claim no matter how unreliable that supports oneâs position),
keep repeating discredit research as if it is true, bolster oneâs own self and oneâs intuition as a way of knowing (âI can see through the media; I did my research unlike those duped by big pharmaâ),
derogate other forms of knowing, particularly science and reason (âscience is a limited way of knowing unlike my intuitionâ),
use whataboutism (âwhat about the time Fauci might have said something wrongâ),
seek external justification (âa cure that might work is better than having to wear a maskâ), and, perhaps worst of all,
self-censorship of putting ourselves in an information bubble where we only hear agreeable information and anything disagreeable is either not heard or ridiculed.
Obviously, a rationalization trap is a very effective means of selling a flimflam.
Once we are in the trap, we will continue to buy the flimflam and advocate for the phantom option in an attempt to justify ourselves in the face of failing evidence.
A key component of being an active truth-finder is to have a plan for evaluating and making decisions about claims.
When we do make a mistake, the honorable thing to do is to admit the error and take responsibility for our actions.

Hyewwo, if you don't mind.. đđ
I, U, and X for Lighter? đ„ș Thank you so much for what you do!
main event page - event masterlist
I: Injury - how do they act when you get hurt? No matter the severity of the injury, Lighter worries about you. Something bad happenning to you is like his worst nightmare, so his eyes instinctively fly to you in a panic every time you make any sound of pain, even if it's just a papercut or stubbed toe. If you get seriously injured, though, he's an absolute wreck. He wants so badly to protect you and make sure you're okay, but seeing you in so much pain and covered in your own blood has him losing it, the closest he's getting to helping is half-begging half-threatening anyone with medical training to Do Something. He hates hospitals, but he won't leave your side until you're okay, even if you end up in one. Won't even let himself sleep until your condition is stable. And as your recovering and sent home, you'll have a 24/7 assistant and guard until you're back to tiptop shape, that brief taste of losing you has him extra protective, even permanently.
U: Upset - how would they comfort you if you're upset? Lighter is a practical man - he's great if you're frustrated about something and need to vent since he'll analyse all the details with you, picking apart the situation and helping you to decide the next course of action. But that's not the most helpful response when the feelings are more fresh, and he understands that. He doesn't really know what to do with himself if you cry in front of him - he hates to see you so upset and he rarely knows what to say to make you feel better. Instead, he'll opt to just hold you, pressing soft kisses into your hair and mutter soft reassurances, little "I'm here"s and "you're okay"s. As you start recovering, his mission becomes to make you laugh, whether it takes a corny joke or a tickle attack with kisses pressed all over your face, distracting you until you're ready to talk through whatever upset you.
X: X-Ray - how easily can they read their partner? how easy are they to read? Lighter is really perceptive - he's really good at reading people in general, so he sees through you so easily with how much time you spend together. He can always tell if there's something bothering you, or if you're particularly attracted to something he does. The first he uses for good, coaxing you to talk about it or getting you a treat to cheer you up before you even tell him something's wrong. He'll find solutions you didn't know existed to problems you barely have, and all you have to do is make one slightly frustrated sigh. The latter he uses for pure evil, he's an absolute menace, showing off the things he knows you like. No matter how cool you try to play it, he can Tell he's affecting you, its lowkey infuriating how proud of himself he looks. When it comes to reading him, its a bit tougher. He's pretty good at hiding and repressing his thoughts when he wants to, not letting them show on his face. Besides, his sunglasses make it a bit harder to read his expressions. But with you, he doesn't hide his thoughts that often, especially in private, and you can pretty easily tell exactly what he's feeling just from his face. Between that and how easily he reads you, you can probably have whole conversations with him just using facial expressions

The thing that sucks about knowing the context for a popular ship redraw meme or incorrect quote is watching people be so so incorrect about it and just having to sit there, gripping your thigh, reminding yourself of your values
My personal problem is the quote from "Everything Everywhere All At Once": "In another life I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you"
Because every day EVERY DAY even with ships I love, I watch people use it as a "Oh my god isn't it so tragic that these two characters are forced to suffer the horrors or to be ripped apart when in their heart of hearts they want to be living domestically and doing laundry and taxes?"
And I have to sit there and think "No no you don't get it! That line wasn't the tragedy of the characters not having a better life where they can just be together. It's a different kind of tragedy! The main character didn't like her normal Chinese immigrant life of running a laundromat and dealing with taxes and her family in the USA. Once she learned about all of these different worlds, she began to feel even more like her current life was one that she didn't want. In fact, this life where the guy said that popular line was one where she chose not to go to the USA with him to build a life and love together and became a famous actress instead. She has been thinking about how her husband truly held her down and stifled her life. How if she hadnât chosen him she wouldn't have had to deal with him and her life would be better and more exciting. And so she's talking to this alternate version of her husband who never became her husband, and she starts making a case for why this is the best outcome. After all, who would want to live in a laundromat and do taxes when she can be a movie star and have anyone she wants? And this is when he tells her that that life that she rejects, that she feels is lowly and one that no one would want, is something that he wants. He doesn't care that she's a famous actress now, he would have loved to just live a simple life with her, even if it was hard and taxing. And this moment in the movie is so so many things (things I'm not even doing justice to here), but it is also a major moment that highlights the disparity in these two characters (even if one isn't her og husband) and their desires.
The main character feels trapped in her life and that she never lived up to her potential. Her husband truly would want to be with her simply because of the bits where it isn't exciting. Even if they're poor and suffer hardship and do things considered simple and lowly, he would still like that life with her.
So yes every time I see this meme my brain screams "get out of here with your blorbos in an au who tragically can't live normally and domestically. Bring in your blorbos who love(d) each other and are messy and are on the verge of divorce and want different things in life, who have to make a choice in what to do about it. Give me your "person who feels trapped in this small life and wanted bigger and better things who lowkey resents the other who is just supporting them" x "person who understands this life isn't always easy or glamorous but is glad that they get to do it every day with this person, who would choose a life of love with them no matter what"
#i just be ramblin#god that movie is so good#after that scene?#in one of the timelines the mc let's go and starts smashing shit before signing the divorce papers. and her (now ex) husband begs for her to#be let off easy and claims that this only happened because he sprung divorce on her. so she sits outside and smokes with the lady with the#irs who went through the same thing#there's a universe where her and the irs lady just live happily and intimately and simply out of love. and happen to have hot dog fingers#in her original universe she goes back to the appointment with her family and the irs lady to fix their taxes. she stays with her current#life but she understands her husband and her daughter much better now#She gets to live out all feelings of anger and anguish and catharsis and potential choices for this situation in different universes#and while this version of her chooses to stay with the life she has nowâ she is still never punished in the universe where she chooses to#divorce her husband and change her life#The story doesn't present a sole solution to the dissonance between her and her husband's wants out of life#She just is able to learn things about herself from this journey and improve as a person due to her experiences with different versions of#her husband and daughter#the narrative gives her all the tools and lessons she needs to make her choices and recognizes that there is no sole good choice#except perhaps the idea that we have to choose to be kind to people in this world#anyways sorry for going off about this#this movie is amazing and makes me feel things and it gets me when people misrepresent such a painful line from that movie as being about#the tragedy of not being able to have a simple life with the one you love

Losing my mind a little bc i just got to see my dogs and cat again so I'm sobbing like a loser bc sometimes the thought of mortality gets the better of me and I'm reduced to a puddle â
#mini vent:#i know to love is to accept grief esp with pets and people older than you#and that the solution is not to cut those experiences out of your life but to accept the pain as a part of the process#and as a sign your love was real and it happened and it was strong#but . its hard. itll never be easy. sometimes i want to die before them so i dont have to deal with their loss#and now that the tears started they just wont stop and they cant stop im feeling so.#it feels like im near my period even though it Just ended#idk. something about this year and getting older and being plagued with heart shattering nostalgia and memories#i know its the human condition but could it not be just once? just once? im losing my mind#bitch mantis

I don't know, I get tired of a lot of positivity
Like yes yes, the world's wonderful and I'm so strong or whatever generic thing is being said (because it's always so generalized to the point of meaningless), but you know shit is what it is, and the only way forward is with changes I manage to make... which you're not helping with at all
And as for like... my internal mood, I'm deeply isolated, sorry if hollow platitudes don't sooth the gaping maw inside me
It is what it is, and I probably get my shit together enough to do stuff like teach out of my basement like I'd like, it's just I believe that I'll be alone in a crowd like I've always been
But positivity... I just... I kinda get sick of it. There's this guy on youtube I watch who talks about economics stuff, he's recently started doing positivity and... I just fucking know his personality enough where it's like sorry mate but I'm not interested in hearing you spout Secret light kinds off drivel
...I don't know, I suppose it boils down to this
One, I can barely fucking take in positive things said directly to me, about me. Generalizations don't help even a little... I'm a mess, I'd really like someone to toss me a life preserver instead of always tossing confetti at me while I struggle to stay afloat... doesn't help
Two, the world is a terribly imperfect place, and rather than taking a mentality of "everything will work out", I think it's important to acknowledge that sometimes good people live alone, die alone, and they never got the break they needed and slowly bled out
I think it's worth knowing that if you can't step in and help yourself, then maybe no help'll come at all
...I don't know, I suppose in the end the core of what I'm saying is a lot of positivity seems like self help tier stuff and... I get tired of that, and I see so many good people struggling and... eh... either I can at least come in and say something positive custom fit to them, or I can keep my mouth shut
Just fucking let me rot. Help or let me fester on my own, you know?
I got rid of the trailer, I maybe did something like cleaning though I can't tell... at what point will my pace on trying to make things better be good enough for people, and I'll be able to stop having people tell me to fix my life... as if I hadn't thought of that already
...everyone means well, it's just tiring
#it's like when people make you being suicidally depressed about them#I... don't really want to say some more specific details cause they might be able to pick themselves out of a line up#but it's just like... man... is this more about trying to get me in a better place; or about making you feel better#wears me out#mm tag so i can find things later#just seems impossible for people to not offer advice on things#the thing people never think of with advice; is that people living a situation often have thought about that situation a whole lot#it's like why... with my friend that's looking for theatre jobs; I don't offer a lot of advice because I figure they've done quite a bit#just kinda... offer to help the best I can and ask what they need; and then mostly just listen#it's not like I never ever say anything; it's just I try to back up advice with something concrete#like... for instance if I wanted to suggest someone do therapy; then I'm gonna be offering to help them find a therapist as best I can#cause I get that it's not like you just 'go to therapy'... getting started on things is often the hardest part#eh... keeping this as vague as possible cause I want the actions I took not the details#but when I had a friend who was someone who didn't treat them at all well#I didn't directly try to get them to leave cause I know that... it's hard; they were in deep#instead I just made sure to validate their perception of reality a whole lot#counter the literal gaslighting by just pointing out that they made sense and questioning how reasonable their partner was#and then I attempted to get them in touch with some other people so they were less isolated and had other people to validate them#and thankfully they're not with that person anymore; they're doing a great job at life and are much healthier now#...but advice... honestly I don't think I gave them much#I more asked leading questions to try and shine a light on things; or would brainstorm about what to do with various stuff#they were real stuck; and it was painful to see them stuck in such a bad situation; but... better to sit with them than push push push#it felt like if I gave them my actual advice; dump that abusive freak; they couldn't have heard me#it was easy for me to tell them the solution; but that didn't account for all the barriers to implementing that solution#in this case; many of the barriers were internal; but internal or external; barriers are barriers#I don't know... I just think sometimes you gotta be comfortable sitting with discomfort along side someone#unless you got an actual fix; and you're willing to put in the work to fix it... shut up about fixing and just be there for them#mhh... we'll take one of the only things I'm actually capable of doing instead of something more serious#if someone wants a minecraft server; I can either fucking help them set it up; or I can kinda keep my mouth shut#if I'm not helping them set it up; I can give them shit like 'that sounds cool; I bet you could do it'

"The idea of reforming Omelas is a pleasant idea, to be sure, but it is one that Le Guin herself specifically tells us is not an option. No reform of Omelas is possible â at least, not without destroying Omelas itself:
If the child were brought up into the sunlight out of that vile place, if it were cleaned and fed and comforted, that would be a good thing, indeed; but if it were done, in that day and hour all the prosperity and beauty and delight of Omelas would wither and be destroyed. Those are the terms.
'Those are the terms', indeed. Le Guinâs original story is careful to cast the underlying evil of Omelas as un-addressable â not, as some have suggested, to 'cheat' or create a false dilemma, but as an intentionally insurmountable challenge to the reader. The premise of Omelas feels unfair because it is meant to be unfair. Instead of racing to find a clever solution ('Free the child! Replace it with a robot! Have everyone suffer a little bit instead of one person all at once!'), the reader is forced to consider how they might cope with moral injustice that is so foundational to their very way of life that it cannot be undone. Confronted with the choice to give up your entire way of life or allow someone else to suffer, what do you do? Do you stay and enjoy the fruits of their pain? Or do you reject this devilâs compromise at your own expense, even knowing that it may not even help? And through implication, we are then forced to consider whether we are â at this very moment! â already in exactly this situation. At what cost does our happiness come? And, even more significantly, at whose expense? And what, in fact, can be done? Can anything?
This is the essential and agonizing question that Le Guin poses, and we avoid it at our peril. Itâs easy, but thoroughly besides the point, to say â as the narrator of 'The Ones Who Donât Walk Away' does â that you would simply keep the nice things about Omelas, and work to address the bad. You might as well say that you would solve the trolley problem by putting rockets on the trolley and having it jump over the people tied to the tracks. Le Guinâs challenge is one that can only be resolved by introspection, because the challenge is one levied against the discomforting awareness of our own complicity; to 'reject the premise' is to reject this (all too real) discomfort in favor of empty wish fulfillment. A happy fairytale about the nobility of our imagined efforts against a hypothetical evil profits no one but ourselves (and I would argue that in the long run it robs us as well).
But in addition to being morally evasive, treating Omelas as a puzzle to be solved (or as a piece of straightforward didactic moralism) also flattens the depth of the original story. We are not really meant to understand Le Guinâs 'walking away' as a literal abandonment of a problem, nor as a self-satisfied 'Sounds bad, but Iâm outta here', the way Vivierâs response piece or others of its ilk do; rather, it is framed as a rejection of complacency. This is why those who leave are shown not as triumphant heroes, but as harried and desperate fools; hopeless, troubled souls setting forth on a journey that may well be doomed from the start â because isnât that the fate of most people who set out to fight the injustices they see, and that they cannot help but see once they have been made aware of it? The story is a metaphor, not a math problem, and 'walking away' might just as easily encompass any form of sincere and fully committed struggle against injustice: a lonely, often thankless journey, yet one which is no less essential for its difficulty."

only in my dreams
summary: love has two sides. it can be pure, beautiful, and exciting, but it can also be lonely, painful, and the worst of all â unrequited.
warnings: mentions of heartbreak, unrequited love, alcohol, death and a curse word.
pairings: azriel x reader
words: 3.4k
you should have stayed at home.
you knew you shouldn't have come. Â
you knew it was a bad idea from the moment you walked through the threshold of the balcony of the house of wind.
it was sad to know that this house used to be your safe haven â a place where you were happy and felt safe, where you could be yourself.Â
but now it makes you want to leave as quickly as possible and never come back.
because that was the only solution to not having to see the scene that was unfolding in front of your eyes.Â
your eyes â the same ones that used to contain love and happiness, were now sad and empty.
the same ones who used to shine with excitement every time you entered a room looked now absent â as if something had sucked away their vitality and left nothing behind.
even your kind and warm smiles had started to appear less frequently until they disappeared completely.
that's how you looked now â no sparkles in your eyes and no smile on your face as you moved the food on your plate with a fork from side to side.
you stopped listening to the conversation a long time ago.Â
it was another dinner night with the inner circle at the house of wind. you were sitting between rhys, who was at the head of the table on your right side, and nesta on your left side.
you were trying everything to keep your eyes on your plate so you didn't have to watch elain being courted by azriel â the owner of your heart and the reason it was breaking little more day by day.
he wasn't to blame and you didn't blame him for his feelings towards the middle archeron sister, afterall, no one has the power to choose who they like or love â but it didn't make it any less painful.
pain â you were feeling it a lot now. Â
every time elain laughed at something azriel whispered to her made it hurt even more. Â
your power wasn't helping you at all right now. Â
Being an empath had its advantages â it allowed you to feel and understand the emotions and feelings of others and increase and decrease their intensity. it also allowed you to know when someone is lying or telling the truth and to control and manipulate them, despite not using the last two (unless it was necessary) because you believe it to be incorrect.
but the thing most people didn't know about being an empath is that it affects your emotions and feelings, too.
it makes you feel everything more intensely â meaning that you felt everything ten times more than everyone else.
a good joke that made others laugh until their stomachs hurt â made you cry with laughter.Â
simple things that made others happy â made you jump with joy.
and when others felt passion â you felt love.Â
you loved with more strength and intensity than everyone, but you also suffered in the same way.
and when you suffer, it's like your light has been turned off.
a hand on your knee took you out of your thoughts â nesta. Â
she was the only reason you were here â literally, she dragged you from the library when you told her you wouldn't be joining them for dinner.
the older archeron sister had become one of your favorite people.Â
nesta was the one who had the most difficult time in adjusting and accepting this new life, so instead of ignoring her as some did, you decided to be the first to extend your hand to her.
it all started with your mutual interest in books. it started with book recommendations, then exchanges and finally reading them together.
by the time you noticed, you were training together, sharing meals, and adventuring in the city.
your friendship was not easy â nesta made sure of that. Â
at first, she tried to push you away with cold stares and nasty comments, but you knew better than anyone that it was nothing but a defense mechanism.
you knew that when she said she was better off alone, she really just wanted someone to hug her.
so, knowing better than anyone, you fought for her. Â
you ignored the cold stares and faced her nasty comments, and when she tried to push you away, you stood your ground and didn't let her. Â
little by little, she let you in, and you got to know her â the real nesta. Â
over time, the staring stopped, the comments disappeared, and instead of trying to push you away, she started looking for your company.
your friendship turned into a sisterhood, and now, Nesta would fight for you just as much as you fought for her.Â
your sisterhood grew, and short after that, you were welcoming emerie and gwyn â your girls.
quickly, a friendship was formed between the four of you, and there was no one you trusted more than each other. Â
they told everything about themselves, their past, their fears, and even their secrets.
so, you did the same â except your feelings for the shadowsinger, nesta was the only one who knew about that.
you joined the inner circle one hundred and fifty years ago when you moved to velaris to live with your great-aunt madja.
despite being an empath, you also inherited a natural talent for healing just like your aunt.
that's how you met rhysand and his family.
there was an enemy attack in windhaven with several fatalities and many injured illyrians, which required all the healers who worked at the clinic, including you and madja, to be winnowed there by morrigan.
as soon as you arrived, it was total chaos. the soldiers who were not injured, and even some who were, did not stop running from one side to the other, nor did they stop shouting or grabbing weapons and demanding to go after those who fled making it impossible for the healers to help.Â
the enemy had already been defeated before your arrival, so you were not in danger and for that reason, you did not hesitate to use your powers.
you made your way so you could stand right in the middle of the soldiers.Â
you raised your arms to the sides and closed your eyes, and with a little bit of focus you let the soldiers' emotions start to invade you from head to toe.
then with a long sigh, you took control of their emotions and released your power.
the soldiers immediately stopped in their places and went limp before starting to fall to the ground unconscious.
you put them to sleep.
it was the only safe way for the healers to be able to do their work even though you didn't like having this kind of control over someone.
the only ones who were not affected were the high lord, his brothers, and his cousin.
their eyes were fixed on you, who remained standing among the sleeping soldiers.
and when they turned to you for an explanation of what had just happened, they were even more shocked when you revealed to them what you were and what you had just done.
they had never met anyone with that kind of power, and so they were having a little trouble getting their faces back to an expression of neutrality.
impressed wasn't enough to describe how they were feeling at that very moment.
qs a thanks, rhysand offered you a position in his inner circle. after some hesitation and several lectures from madja about how it would be a bad idea (and lack of education) to refuse such an offer, you accepted.
moving to the house of wind, you established friendships with all the members, but azriel was the one you became closest to. Â
you became best friends over time, and before you could stop your heart, you fell in love with him. Â
even when he was already in love with mor.
despite knowing about his affections towards the blonde female, it hadn't hurt as much as it does now because azriel had never acted on his feelings for her.
but you decided to wait. you believed that one day the mother would smile upon you, and she would grant you the wish you carried in your heart every day.
therefore, during that time, you were content to love him from afar â and in the shadows.
you thought that day had finally arrived after noticing the change in azriel's behavior towards mor after the arrival of the archeron sisters. Â
you couldn't be more wrong.
you couldn't help but find this whole situation ironic. after decades of seeing azriel in love with mor and hoping that one day he would notice you, he was now courting elain.
the archeron sisters came into your life and turned everything upside down. you were grateful that feyre and nesta's path led them to you, but you couldn't feel the same way about elain.
before you could wander in your thoughts even more, nesta squeezed your knee, getting your attention again.Â
you looked at your best friend and noticed the worry on her face, so putting your hand on top of hers, you murmured to her a small "i'm okay" and gave her a small smile.Â
"are you sure?" she murmured too, so no else could hear it.Â
you nodded your head at her and returned your attention to your plate.
rhys' voice made you look up, and you regretted it immediately because in that exact moment, you saw azriel and elain's hands intertwined on the top of the table.
you shook your head and looked at your high lord â who had become a very good friend of yours.
"are our plans at rita's still on for tomorrow night?" rhys asked.Â
everyone â but you â said their agreements before azriel spoke, "actually, elain and i have plans for tomorrow night."Â
your breathing got caught on your throat, and nesta's hand flew immediately to yours, grabbing it gently.
it was Feyre who asked, "where are you going?" you could've sworn there was a hint of surprise in her voice.
"to the new restaurant that just opened by the rainbow. it's supposed to be very good," elain's eyes moved from her younger sister to the male sitting next to her, "so we decided to try it."Â
cassian cleared his throat, and he looked in your direction before looking at the people in front of him. "it's that a date? are you going on a date?"
azriel chuckled and squeezed elain's hand. "i guess we can call it that."Â
you stood up abruptly, attracting everyone's eyes, "sorry. i just remembered that madja needs my assistance to visit a patient tomorrow, and i forgot to prepare the medical bag."Â
you excused yourself before leaving the dining room and making your way towards the stairs.Â
you heard cassian and nesta calling your name, but you didn't bother to turn as you started to descend the ten thousand steps.
through your power, you were able to realize that no one â with the exception of your best friend and her mate â noticed your lie.Â
Just as they didn't notice the tears that filled your eyes as soon as you turned your back on them and left the room.
âąâąâąÂ
you went to your aunt's house. Â
the last thing madja expected to find at her door at that time of night was her niece with red eyes and tears running freely down her cheeks.
she barely let you walk in before she wrapped your figure into a tight embrace.Â
she had noticed the change in your mood recently but decided not to comment because she knew very well that as soon as you were ready to talk, you would tell her everything.
and that's what you did.
you told her everything as you both rested on her pink couch with your head in her lap while she caressed your hair, listening to your words attentively.
you ended up falling asleep with your cheeks stained from the tears, and madja didn't dare to move. she refused to awake you from your peaceful slumber.
she bent down to kiss your head, and when she raised again, she saw a piece of parchment on the top of the table next to the couch, reaching for it.
it was rhysand asking where you were.Â
madja answered for you, saying that you were with her and spending the night at her house.Â
it didn't take long until your aunt joined you into your slumber.
âąâąâą
the following night, you made your way towards the House after a hard day at the clinic.Â
the day got worse when the patient you went to see at his residence didn't make it.
sometimes, you hate your job, especially because of your powers. when things got too much for you to handle, you had to put a shield around you to prevent you from feeling your patients worries or pains.
the patient you visited was heavily sick. it was too late to do anything medical, so you did the only thing you could.
you used your powers. let his emotions invade you, and then, with a long sigh, you took away his pain and transferred it to you.
that was the only thing you could do for him at that moment, and you are more than relieved that you were able to provide him comfort while he left this world, making his passing easier for him and his family.
you climbed the ten thousand steps, but it didn't even bother you. you were too busy thinking about your patient and whether his family would be okay.
you made a mental note to visit them the next day and help where you could.
you pushed these thoughts away as you opened the door and entered the House.
all you needed right now was to be with your friends and forget about this awful day.
when you walked into the living room, you remembered that everyone went to rita's.
well, everyone, but you, azriel, and elain. the two of them were on their date tonight.Â
and like a snap of a finger, all your emotions and feelings from the last few months and days came flooding back. Â
your eyes fell on rhys's expensive drinks cart. Â
you wiped your tears and everything you felt turned into anger. Â
"fuck it."
you went to the cart, grabbed the first bottle that was in your reach, removed the cork and drank, sinking the drink down your throat and your sorrows with it.
âąâąâą
three hours later, cassian, nesta, rhys and feyre finally arrived at the house.
amren had departed to her apartment after they left rita's and mor stayed behind saying that her night wasn't over yet.
the two couples had come talking about you on the way. they had waited for you but when you didn't show up, they assumed you were with madja or still at the clinic.
rhys had sent a letter to madja a few minutes ago asking for you and when your aunt said she was looking for you too, they left hoping to find you here.
they just didn't expect the state they were going to find you.
as soon as they passed the threshold of the balcony and into the living room, they saw you.
you were laying on the couch with your legs off of it, an empty bottle was in your hand, and another on the floor by your feet.
"oh my god," the high lady whispered.
cassian moved and kneeled next to you by the couch. his hand made its way to your arm and tried to awake you.
"y/n." he shook you lightly.
after a few seconds, you opened your eyes and were faced with the General looking at you.
"cass," you said with your voice dragging, "you're here." you moved to sit and wrapped him into a hug, one that he didn't hesitate to reciprocate.
"are you alright, sweetheart?" he asked you while caressing your back.
"i am now that you're all here," you released a breath. "my dear friends", you looked at your other three friends who were looking at you with concern. "you're so beautiful. all of you. did you know that?" you giggled.
it was rare for you to drink and when you did, you never got drunk.
nesta sat down next to you and put an arm around your shoulders. you took the opportunity to rest your head on her shoulder, finding comfort in your friend's embrace.
"what happened, y/n?" she asked you.
you started laughing before replying with irony in your voice "what didn't happen?"Â
you pushed away from her and stood so you could face all your friends "my patient died. the male I've been in love with for decades won't even look at me and this house that used to be my safe haven, it's now the stage of my pain."
"oh! not to mention that elain is mated but does she care? no! does azriel care? of course not. i've been in love with him for decades. decades! and he doesn't even look at me." you started laughing, "by the cauldron, u'm pathetic."
your family didn't seem surprised by your revelation.
cassian pulled you into a tight hug and rhys and nesta moved to do the same.
if it weren't for this situation everyone would've thought that the world was about to end from seeing rhys and nesta hugging each other.
morrigan arrived in the moment you were in the middle of your friends with tears in your eyes.
"what's going on?" mor whispered to feyre who was still in the same spot since she arrived.
feyre explained everything and by the moment she finished, both females had tears in her eyes at the sight of her friend being hurt.
"what's wrong with me?" you asked them, your voice breaking.
"nothing is wrong with you. nothing." that wasn't your friend speaking â it was your high lord.
feyre and morrigan joined the hug in the moment you said, "i'm never going to be good enough for him. i'll never be her."Â
tears rolled down feyre and mor faces, and both females were asking the same question in their minds "how long has she been feeling like this?"
your high lady spoke this time, "y/n, what can we do? what do you need?"
you hugged cassian tighter before locking eyes with nesta "i just need my girls."
nesta nodded her head at you and looked at the blonde female "can you take us?"Â
mor didn't hesitate in agreeing.Â
anything to make you feel better.
âąâąâą
two hours later, you were in the middle of the bed with nesta and gwyn on one side and emerie on the other, all of them with their arms around you.
the three of them had fallen asleep a few minutes ago after one hour of you telling them everything about azriel and a lot of cups of tea and tissues.
you thought they would've been mad at you but they didn't.Â
they reassured you several times that it was okay and that you could take all the time in the world until you were ready after you tried to apologize too many times.
now you were staring at the ceiling thinking about your options.
you couldn't live like this anymore, knowing that azriel would never love you back.Â
so you were going to do the only thing you could in order to protect what was left of your heart.
there was something about your powers that no one knew. something that you never had shared.
you had a switch. Â
one that you could turn on and off whenever and wherever you wanted. Â
in the same way that you could feel everything, you could also feel nothing.
the only problem? everything that made you, you, would disappear.
but it was also your solution to your situation.
you closed your eyes and gave a deep breath.
you focused on your breathing for a minute and then. . .
no more emotions.
no more feelings.
no more love.
no more sadness.
no more pain.
no more tears.
you turned it off.
when you opened your eyes again, you were numb.
you didn't feel a single thing.Â
good.

(masterlist)
Money did buy happiness, you thought; if it did you would be in your mansion worth millions, you would use your money to buy contacts to get your dream job without having to sweat a drop and you wouldn't be standing there right now listening to the landlady, while she yells at you and reminds you how far behind you are in your payments.
It was humiliating and you had no other excuse to tell her, it was obvious she didn't give a shit how much you studied and worked at the same time and it still wasn't enough. She finally left, insulting you a couple of times and flattering herself for being a good person by letting you stay and giving you a space in a very rushed and busy city like this one, where millions of people are looking for a place to live every day.
You wanted to feel unashamed, carefree but you couldn't do it and everything was a thousand times more embarrassing when you were helping your best friend pack as she was moving to a new and better apartment. You knew Hari since you moved into the building three years ago, she was your neighbor and you were the same age so you two quickly liked each other... but the day had come, she was able to move on and was going to a nice place.
Hari watched the whole scene with a bit of sadness, knowing deep down what it felt like to go through exactly the same thing and hear the same old lady screaming. And, as she took one of her boxes to pass it to the mover she thought if after all this time it would be good to finally confess a secret to you⊠she was terrified of feeling judged but, she appreciated you too much that she really wanted to tell you.
You sighed without further ado, smiling and turning back to your friend.
âHey, if you needâŠâ Hari wanted to say but you interrupted her immediately.
âI'm fine, really.â
You stared at her and gave her a fake smile. It wasn't new that you hated asking for help and that people feel sorry for you, first it was your male best friend who stupidly is a millionaire and now your best friend who you were supposed to share economic pains. You felt that everyone was moving forward but you, but you didn't want to be seen as a poor girl in distress, it was what you hated the most even though you appreciate their gestures and words in your heart, despite that it's hard for you to take it, as well as thank them andâŠ. express yourself.
âIf you need anything you know you can count on m...?â
âOn you and Felix, I know.â
You rolled your eyes trying to appear annoyed but you weren't, it was obvious, they always reminded you. And you were extremely grateful just at the thought that they cared about you. You were aware that one of the very good solutions was simply to start dating your rich best friend who you know likes you⊠but you weren't like that, unfortunately, you were too proud to accept easy money.
âYou should give him a chanceâ Hari added.
âI think I'm fucked up enough to fall in love and add another worry.â
Felix was sweet, caring, attractive and incredibly wealthy, you met him in college as he was studying cinematography. And you were studying performing arts, actress, your biggest dream. Strangely enough, you and Felix connected instantly in a course where you coincided, and you got along very well forming a nice friendship; he had a big and pure heart and was not at all the typical brainless rich kid, however you were the opposite of him, reserved and a bit pessimistic about life and clearly⊠in some big and tight economic problems. You couldn't count the countless times Felix offered to help you financially, but you simply felt you were abusing the power of your cute and cuddly best friend.
He would offer you money, he would offer you one of his properties, all paid vacations, you knew it was every girl's dream and that if you told anyone other than Hari about all this, they would be sure to slap you and call you âstupidâ to your face. You recognized that he was all a dream come true and that was what you feared the most, that you might be a nightmare for him, your personalities were different and most of all, you felt so bad that you didn't have something to offer him; you felt it looked so wrong to be just him trying so hard even though you were trying twice as hard too and sometimes it seemed in vain.
Moreover, you were quite realistic and recognized well that guys like Felix, wealthy and from a long line of millionaire ancestors, a simple girl like you wasn't enough, and you could never end up with someone like him.
Hari laughed at your comment.
âLove isn't so bad... have you ever been in love?â
You looked at her perplexed, almost wanting to laugh in her face; Hari in love was a concept you didn't know.
âHave you?â you asked, emphasizing your shock.
Your friend just looked at you amused and continued her duty of clearing out her old home. She was nervous, she had a solution for you but wasn't sure if it was an option for you.
After a few hours of exhaustive work like moving your whole life to another place, both of you contemplated the completely empty apartment where you used to spend nights together having sleepovers. Hari sighed, ready to confess something no one else knew.
âY/nâ she spoke to you.
You made a sound indicating you were listening, but you weren't really, you couldn't stop looking at that wall, thinking about what you had to do as soon as possible to get extra money. Hari called your name again until this time she caught your attention, so you turned to look at her; she felt nervousness and wanted to swallow for a second, you furrowed your brow at her sudden strange reaction.
âIf I tell you something, promise you won't judge.â
âOf courseâ you quickly answered without thinking, her behavior seemed odd, but suddenly you were so curious to know.
She looked at you with big eyes of âI'm seriousâ, while you returned the look more than obvious.
âWhat is it about?â
Hari took a breath, hesitant, and suddenly she had all your attention.
âHave you ever wondered how suddenly I get all this, finally moving, nicer clothes...?â she replied with another question.
You furrowed your brow and tilted your head a bit confused, not meaning to offend, but your friend's life wasn't something you were so concerned about since you saw her completely normal, it wasn't something to be alarmed about, every time you met she was still the same... you wondered if there was suddenly something you didn't notice and that you should feel like a bad friend about.
âDid you get a big promotion at your job...?â you speculated without an answer.
She smiled mockingly.
âThere's someoneâ she finally spat out, unable to express it entirely.
You got excited, those words meant she was dating someone of whom you didn't know details and suddenly it excited you. You raised your eyebrows in surprise and turned your whole body towards her, looking at her straight ahead, enthusiastic.
âOh my God, Hari, why didn't you...â
âOr something like thatâ she cut you off abruptly.
Again, you looked at her confused, this time waiting for her to start talking. Hari looked at the floor and finally said:
âI have someone who gives me money.â
Silence embraced you, you didn't know what to say so you just laughed incredulously letting out a little air, Hari quickly looked at you with her expressive eyes of âyou promised not to judgeâ, so you hurried to say:
âA sugar daddy or something like that? Well⊠good for you, I guess.â
âI think you need oneâ she cut off your sarcastic comment so now you laughed out loud. âBeing a companion.â
âNo thanks, I have enough dealing with Felix and his specific complexâ you scoffed.
âI think you're not getting it⊠I don't know how to explain it but, I can live my life for 5 years without working a single day.â
You were in denial and totally ready to continue to contradict and mock your friend until that comment caught you by surprise.
âWow, well that'sâŠâ you closed your eyes deeply trying to process the kind of conversation you were having. âI think you're exaggerating a bit hereâŠâ
âNoâ she interrupted you again, âthis is different, I think you reject Felix because you know him and⊠these are just unknown men willing to pay a lot of money.â
âDo you really think you can give that kind of power to a man, of just giving you money without him expecting anything in return?â you added without thinking.
Silence returned⊠and it was when everything made sense and you understood that Hari did give something in return. You didn't want to say it out loud, but suddenly your best friend was a prostitute; you were really surprised. You couldn't help but open your eyes in surprise. Hari felt the need to explain herself before feeling judged.
âThey are really wealthy men, it's something really exclusive and selective, you can choose andâŠâ
You dissociated and stopped listening for a second, did they have methods? What did she mean? Why would she believe in the first place that you would be part of something like that?
âAnd are you with someone or do you have multiple relationshipsâŠ?â you interrupted her.
You had no idea why you cared about that, you weren't a saint to judge, but maybe it was just curiosity. Hari rolled her eyes annoyed.
âAt first a few until I finally found someone, Iâm telling you it's surprising what can happen; so far it's him, he gave me the apartment, he'll decorate it and-â
You closed your eyes again incredulously.
âHe bought you the apartment? I thought you rented it.â
âI had to lie.â
âAnd what happens when your fantasy and money run out?â you said mercilessly.
Hari smiled, you were too honest and straightforward sometimes.
âWell, I don't think that will happen for a long time and⊠Chan and I reached an agreement that I could work in his company as much as I want, even if our relationship ends and he stops supporting me.â
âOh, so he has a name and now you're dating.â
âIt's complicated, I like him but it's obvious that guys like him don't end up with the poor girl like a a TV show.â
And with a hooker, you thought. At least you were grateful that after all the senseless chatter something with common reasoning came out of your friend's mouth. You really had nothing against what she was doing, it just took you by surprise.
Hari sighed.
âI know you don't believe me, but do you remember that time months ago when we went out to eat and jokingly I showed you the meager â©50,000 in my bank account?â
You nodded, still perplexed and cautious about what she might show you now. Hari took her phone and in a few swift movements with her fingers, handed it to you, displaying on the screen an incredible amount that made you sigh just seeing it. You couldn't believe it. How was it possible for someone to have so much money? Why would they give it to Hari?
âI think it's dangerous, maybe it's just sex with strangers but in exchange for that ridiculous amount⊠I don't know, you shouldn't trust strangers like that.â
Hari opened her mouth, offended, as she took her phone back.
âIt's not always sex, it's about companionship.â
You pursed your lips, unable to believe it; maybe for old men with erectile dysfunction, you thought, but somehow or another, they are men looking for something.
âI'm just giving you an option to give it a chance. It's a really exclusive app, you even send your data to be accepted; it also comes with details of the people offering money for you, how they are, how much, and you can reject them all, you're in control. Come on, y/n, desperate times call for desperate measuresâŠâ
âI wouldn't categorize it that way, no thanks, Hari, I'm not that desperate, and by the way, how did you find out?â
âI went to a party months ago and overheard a couple of unknown girls talking about it, it changed my lifeâ she quickly checked her phone again. âI have to go, he came for me, but think about it, okay? Just out of curiosity, like I did until I saw a really impressive amount. Also, they specify if they want companionship or something moreâŠâ
You rolled your eyes annoyed, it was crazy, you thought that Hari could live anonymously but your dream was to be an actress, what were you supposed to do if they ever found out that you practically sold yourself. Both of you left the apartment and stood there in the hallway for a few seconds.
âDo you want to meet Chan?â
Your attention returned to your friend as soon as she said those words and confusedly you thought in your mind âwho?â until you realized who she was talking about. You were curious, you expected an older man but you were surprised to see that shiny black luxury truck and inside of it, an attractive young adult driving, he looked no more than thirty, or maybe less than forty. You had descended all those floors to meet the person your friend was talking about with enthusiasm and you were too surprised.
Chan got out of the car as soon as he saw Hari and opened the passenger door for her.
âShe's my friend, y/nâ your friend introduced you.
âPleasure to meet youâ you shook hands.
You were in absolute surprise and denial, suddenly everything started to feel like just a fever dream. You felt the heavy gaze of your friend's âpartnerâ and for a second you wondered if he was really the guy who slept with girls for money or the chauffeur of the lucky handsome rich man.
You gave him a small smile and Chan quickly looked at Hari with complicit eyes, silently asking if you knew who he was in her life to which Hari almost reading his mind nodded softly.
âI'll see you another day, goodbyeâ your friend said goodbye with a strong hug which you were too astonished to reciprocate.
And they both left, leaving you standing on the cold pavement of the parking lot with your thoughts floating.
You returned to your apartment with a million questions, questioning almost your existence. Imagining the possibility of getting into that silly app, you thought for a second that Hari must have had the greatest luck in the world to get the only handsome man in the whole system, whom you wouldn't be disgusted to sleep with even for a second. You thought if you really should pay attention to Felix, fall in love with him, live with him⊠but you shook your head vigorously to dismiss that idea, it was almost impossible not to fall in love with him but you didn't feel bitchy and cynical enough to take advantage of his love and money at the same time. You knew it was cruel and that he should be looking for someone because you understood each of his signals, and it was obvious that he was crazy about you but among the boring and miserable life you led, his attention was the only thing that kept you motivated.
You couldn't sleep and little by little you convinced yourself more, sex with a stranger? It shouldn't be so bad, having the same amount of money as Hari? it was such a bright dream for you. You could pay off your debts, look for a better place, and free yourself from the visit of the little witch every week. Now you were curious⊠if it was really reliable and if all your information was highly confidential.
You didn't even check the time and sent Hari a message: «How high security are we talking about in that app?» She replied «I'll tell you everything tomorrow» you noticed your friend's excitement when you realized how quickly she responded.
Until the next day arrived and after work you visited her new and remodeled apartment. It was unreal, you were breathless, the beautiful view and large windows, the harmony of its decoration, it was so bright to be true that if you managed to have money in this situation that you were about to get into, you wanted to keep it realistic, you were afraid that from one day to the next, you would have nothing, so changing your life drastically without having a fixed support was not an option for you, it wouldn't be something long term, just something to get you out of your soon predicament.
They sat on the couch in her spacious living room which was almost the size of your entire apartment.
âDo you want me to manage your account just to verify the data and all that?â
You nodded, you weren't sure what you were about to do, but there you were.
âOkay, all your data is done, they'll send you an e-nail confirmation and let you know if you've been selected to enjoy the app's services. SoâŠâ
You swallowed, watching as they wrote all your data to a strange email, your name, date of birth, occupation, your measurements, your physical appearance, number of sexual partners, if you've had any STDs and attach evidence that you're 100% clean, history of alcoholism and smokingâŠ
âI think it's illegal for them to ask for so much data.â
âDon't worry, it'll be worth it.â
âAre you sure I won't end up in⊠some dark business?â you whispered the last sentence, terrified and nervous.
âNoo, you'll get all the data from the men who want to hire you, even their address while yours is never exposed.â
âI don't know, Hari, men naturally lie.â
Hari chuckled softly, sensing your nervousness.
âI'll put up a picture of you and send it, andâŠâ
âWait, what?â
âI sent itâ she looked at you proudly. âIt can take 24 to 48 hours to respond.â
Hours passed, and you were heating up your dinner when a call from Hari interrupted your time.
âYou got approved, it was really fast. I'll come to see you.â
She hung up, and you took your food out of the microwave totally bewildered. An hour later, amid the serene night with little rain, your friend appeared at your door with a big smile.
âWhy are you so excited? I'm literally about to sell my vagina to wetpussy.com.â
Hari laughed.
âBut that will make you a millionaire overnight.â
âMmâ you expressed in disgust and let her in.
âI can't believe it was so fast, they really want you. You have the option to put your real name or a fake one, your real name you can only give if you want.â
âPlease, a fake one.â
You were really regretting it.
âWhat name should I put you?â
âI don't know, just not mine.â
âCheryl, like darling in Frenchâ she wrote with a smile ââŠexcept I need picturesâŠâ
âCome on, I sent you the best ones.â
âI know, and you look spectacular, but there's an option where the money goes directly to your bank account once they unlock the function to see your photosâŠâ
You felt like she didn't finish the sentence and you were a little annoyed by the situation, it irritated you to know that you had to do this, well, you didn't have to, and no one was forcing you, but you decided to do it.
âAnd?â
âThey're spicy photos.â
âAbsolutely not, is it necessary to do that?â
âYour face can't be seen, and the money goes directly to you. Every time someone opens the option, you get paid â©10 million, well, it depends on how much the app values you.â
You were in denial until you almost regurgitated your dinner.
âThat's an absurd amount.â
âI told you I wasn't joking, I didn't know what they were based on but according to Chan, they're based on dollars or something like that, so for them, it's quite little.â
âFuck, does Chan have more sugar babies? Because if he continues, he'll go bankrupt.â
âI told you they're not ordinary people and they have to specify what they want, if you ever feel like they disrespect you and donât follow what was previously established, you have every right to fine them and report them.â
âAnd make it a public legal issue? No thanks.â
âThenâŠâ
âWell, I guess I have nothing to lose by taking a few lingerie photos, without showing my face!â
[âŠ]
There you were, in the mall at a lingerie store on your day off, trying to find the best pieces that scream âclassy slutâ, you were so terrified, it means they must be men with a lot of money and extreme loneliness and desperation, so the least you could do was pretend to feel sorry for them and look pretty in a nice set.
You were spending your money on something you hoped would soon multiply by millions, until the sound of your phone startled you because you were so focused that you felt like you were doing something illegal. It was Felix.
âHey.â
âHey, where are you? It's your day off, right?â he said.
âYes⊠I'm at the mall.â
You couldn't lie to him, the music and sound of people were so audible.
âAt the usual one? No way, I'm here too, I'm buying a birthday present for Olivia, I wanted to ask you to help me.â
âWell if you want to waitâŠâ
âWhere exactly are you? I'll come find you.â
You didn't want to see him, you felt so guilty accepting dirty money from strangers and not the one he always offered you in the purest way without asking for anything in return, you felt terrible.
âI'm atâŠâ you looked around trying to find another store to run away when he's near, but you couldn't. âBuying lingerie on the second floor.â
You told him the truth, you didn't think he would come. And you've always been someone without filters, except when it comes to Felix, only with him do you have a soft spot. There was a little silence.
âDo you have a date?â
His voice suddenly became serious and his tone of enthusiasm vanished.
âWell, it's complicatedâ you grimaced but he couldn't see you.
âI'm coming over there.â
Felix hung up on you suddenly and you just let out a sigh; you couldn't guess where he was to calculate his time and leave the store and meet him outside, but you really needed that outfit, your last nudes were taken when you were in high school when you did your first sexting with a guy in your class, who was a nice guy, Kim Seungmin from your science class, you fucked him in the basketball gym closet and he never ever told anyone, nor showed your nudes; but the situation was already twisted enough without putting up your old photos from when you were a minor, plus the light and angles weren't fancy enough to be worth 10 million won.
You rushed to find something fast and before you knew it, Felix had already arrived.
âI like that oneâ he said in his deep voice close to your ear taking you by surprise.
You turned to see him, today he looked cuter than usual, he had his hands clasped behind his back and a small smile on his sweet face.
âFelixâŠâ you whispered.
âSo, what's the occasion? Who are you going to wear that for?â he mumbled.
He wanted to hide his irritation in a soft tone, but he couldn't, he was annoyed.
âOh, it's nothing, I just have to update my closet.â
âThen buy whatever you want and I'll pay for itâ you were about to speak and he gently raised his index finger in objection. âIs it bothering you that I'm here? I can leave you my credit card and wait for you outside.â
Felix looked around innocently, he was surrounded by women's underwear and women. You smiled warmly at him.
âNo, actually you can help me.â
You liked to play with Felix a little, you adored watching the way his face would lift and light up all over, his ears would perk up a little and his round eyes would get bigger, as happy as a loyal puppy. Objectively yes he could help you, he was also an incredibly wealthy man, you thought maybe all millionaires shared the same neuron or tastes to get them turned on.
âI'm between this one and this oneâ you showed him the pairs you had selected.
âTake both of them. Or as many as you want.â
You wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, you were suffocating to the idea of what you were going to do; you loved shopping but todayâŠ.
âCome on, take some more, your closet won't be filled with just twoâ Felix added.
You smiled at him and chose a few more so he would stop talking and you could leave at once. Felix paid without any problem while the cashier looked at you with contempt and envy when she saw the pretty boy who accompanied you, slim, elegant, blond with long hair and an innocent face bathed in freckles.
âThank you, Lixâ you gave him a quick kiss on his soft, rosy cheek.
If Felix had a dog's tail, you were sure he'd be wagging it vividly and endlessly with happiness.
âHave you eaten yet? Let's go get something to eatâŠâ he mentioned excitedly, turning to look at you.
âMm, later, now I'll help you choose the gift for your sister.â
âOh, yes, sure, what do you think, Cartier or Tiffany? Although Van Cleef is very fashionable among young girls. And maybe a Dior bag, I think it's her favorite brand; my father will give her her first Birkin so my bag will be like a toy, I don't know what to give her.â
You rolled your eyes playfully, Felix was talking and you were listening.
[âŠ]
âDo you wanna go to my place? There's a movie I want to see. Only you would listen to me while I pause the movie every 5 minutes to make a comment.â
Felix spoke while he was driving, he looked at you out of the corner of his eye and noticed you distracted; you couldn't help it, you thought to yourself that you have to take good pictures and that maybe soon your pussy will be tasting a stranger's cock, for money, which made your hair stand on end. You came out of your trance when you realized Felix spoke.
âYes, it's okay.â
You needed a distraction. And you missed movie nights âand commentaryâ with Felix, your best filmmaker friend.
âWhat are you doing on Saturday? You should go to Olivia's party, she's having a themed party after dinner with us; I don't know what her theme is yet, but I'll let you know. Olivia remembers you and likes you very much.â
Felix suggested trying to get your attention. You didn't even have to think about it, Felix's younger sister was a sweetheart like him, it was his older sister who was a tough crowd, you knew she didn't like you and that she thought you only hung out with her brother for his money, she almost fainted when she found out you were on scholarship and lived in a middle class neighborhood. It was enough for you to know that Felix drove you everywhere, that was too much for you.
âI'll think about it⊠I have a deadline this Sunday for a report.â
He pressed his lips together, knowing you were lying, but he didn't blame you, he thought maybe it would be too much pressure to meet his family.
âSo⊠Are you going to tell me who you're going to wear that lingerie for? Is it someone from the university that I know?â Felix tried to be subtle, but he was dying to know who was going to touch you other than him.
You and Felix had almost done it for multiple times but you always stopped yourself, you couldn't do it because you were afraid he would do it so well and so sweetly that you would end up falling in love with him. He loved the way you made him completely horny, almost cumming in his pants.
And then you had a great idea, if you were going to get into that business you had to be cool and think it would only be a simple fuck, you wouldn't concentrate on anything but feeling a hard cock in your pussy⊠so you had to fuck Felix right now, there was no other way to prove you were an insensitive bitch than to fuck the only man you have ever felt love and respect for.
You tried to get flirtatious and quickly changed your mood.
âMaybe you're right, he's someone you know very well.â
You spoke slowly and seductively, staring at him, you must have recognized that you really have a very attractive best friend, he quickly noticed your heavy look and the change of mood, so he swallowed nervously and looked at you surprised with opening his pretty eyes in pity and that didn't help you at all, he looked fucking cute when he was like that.
âOh yeah?â he added playfully looking sideways and running his tongue along the inside of his cheeks.
You moved closer to him and brushed his cheek with the tip of your nose seductively, while your left hand traveled dangerously from his thigh to his crotch where you massaged his growing bulge.
âLet's go to your place and you tell me what you think of each of the sets you bought me, for him.â
You noticed the irregularity of Felix's breathing, you didn't want to act clumsy and end up fucking him in the car, even though it was incredibly spacious enough⊠but you knew that when Felix was aroused and totally yielding to your charms and touches, he wasn't thinking clearly.
âLet's listen to music while we waitâ you added amused.
You moved away from him and played music through the screen of his modern car, almost letting out a giggle, you didn't know if Felix hated you for that or was just turned on and, for him it was the second option, all the way he was uncomfortable with his pants drowning his cock, but he didn't know how to ask you nicely that if possible you could give him a handjob right there, to which he concluded that there was no decent way to say it so he waited until finally arriving at his pent-house.
As you entered the elevator you both kissed desperately, you almost smiled between the kisses knowing how much fun it would be to finally taste your best friend. Felix was holding all the shopping bags tightly, or at least he was trying to, he wanted to keep his hands on your waist and glued you to him, so once you reached his apartment, he let go of the bags and kept kissing you mercilessly, it felt so good, his warm hands on your waist, his tongue exploring the inside of your mouth and your lips joined with a huge appetite. You realized he wanted to take control and if he did, you would end up making love slowly and not just fucking, so you gently pushed him away, he saw you confused with puffy lips and a look of lust.
âLet me show you how good it all looks on me.â
You gave him a quick kiss and took his hand, directing him to the couch where he sat.
He licked his lips as he bit them, stretched out his arms and settled back, trying to ignore his throbbing sex. He loved the way you played with it.
You took the first piece of black full body lace lingerie. You undressed in front of him and slowly and painfully slipped it on, Felix was struggling with his immense desire to make you his.
âHelp me.â
You dropped onto his lap pretending to have trouble putting the garment on, you were so wet, you wanted to feel him like you had never wanted to feel him before. Felix put his hands on your body and quickly reached for your pussy, pulling the tight, thin fabric away from your center and began to play with your clit. You moaned, losing control of your initial plan as you were surrendered to his touch.
You unbuttoned his pants, removing them and his underwear in exasperation. And there was your friend's hard, firm cock lightly lubricated in semen, as nice and thin as he was, it looked exquisite, and you were going to ride it so well.
âFelix, the condomâ you practically begged.
He gasped at the touch of your hand and firm grip, âover there,â he mumbled pointing to a cabinet with a drawer, you thought for a second if he fucks regularly or why he had condoms in accessible and strategic places. You walked by the condom, feeling your wetness with every step and positioned yourself in front of him, your knees on either side of his thighs.
âYou should take pictures of me, with each of the lingerie, exclusively for you; I want you to know that I'm really grateful every time you do something nice for meâ you stared at him as you opened the wrapper.
You put the condom on him, you could see how gorgeous, red and swollen his cock was ready for you, and slowly, carefully pulling the fabric apart, you sat on it, inserting it and feeling every inch as you went down.
âShit, y/n, move for meâ Felix gasped.
You moaned as you felt it buried in your pussy and began to enjoy yourself endlessly, jumping on his erection as each squat made you lose your breath. Felix held you tightly by the waist, accentuating each movement. You gave yourself thrusts leaning on his thighs and, when you felt his cock throbbing and his body getting weaker and weaker indicating his orgasm, you hugged him on his shoulders and kept moving your hips and ass with agility.
Felix completely agreed that you would take control and held your ass helping you a little until, between gasps and almost crying, Felix finally cummed. You were so possessed by adrenaline, you could feel your orgasm so close, that you accelerated your squats and held your breath for a second until you finally exploded in a sea of sighs and glistening fluid.
You dropped your tired body on Felix's shoulder, feeling his scent and immediately regretted it, it had been amazing, but you always thought the first time you would fuck Felix would be so sweet, on a warm day, maybe in spring, involving roses and a date⊠not in such a dirty way on a cold October night on his living room couch.
âYou know I like you a lot, y/n. Let's stay that way.â
And you said something really stupid, something you had no intention of saying. You wondered what he meant, whether to continue to stay like this fucking, or cuddling?
âI like you too.â
You kept hiding in his neck, you were a coward who can't accept that you were capable of feeling something for someone.
And if that wasn't enough to make you feel bad, he gave you the sweetest cuddles once you came out of his cock, he tended you carefully and told you how pretty you looked.
After that he took your long awaited pictures and after taking your last one, he made sure to reward you so well that he ended up eating your pussy.
You ended the night by taking a shower together, and fucking you again in there; you watched the movie while he commented on each annotation he made, but Felix fell asleep halfway through, in your arms. You didn't know what to do, you didn't know if you were going to continue that way with him and you still weren't ready to take the big step of accepting his money just because suddenly you go out and he gives you everything, his sister already hated you⊠what would people think; you cared more about your situation with him than about what they would think if I slept with a stranger for money situation, although, nobody had to know it was for money, if somehow someone found out, you could say it was just a fuck, you thought.
So, resigned to the fact that you still had to pay your rent, you sent the pictures to Hari, to which she quickly replied with a «wow! I got em» Thirty minutes later, a screenshot of what your profile looked like, it was embarrassing for you. «I'll be sure to get you the best dealsđ», she wrote back.
The next morning you woke up in Felix's bed, wearing his clothes; he must have moved you and you hadn't even noticed, you reached for your phone and couldn't believe your eyes, notifications from your bank account app, you had received â© 40 million.
You were ready to tell Hari that you had enough with what you were getting just for the pictures, you couldn't believe it.
[âŠ]
And, on the other side of the city, in one of the best, luxurious and exclusive hotels in the place, the hotel owner himself, the young and wealthy Hwang Hyunjin and his friend who fit in the same category as him, Lee Minho, were having brunch.
âAh, Lee Minho, he can finally have brunch with you in his busy scheduleâ Hyunjin told him.
Hyunjin had arrived and Minho was waiting for him, sitting in one of the hotel's restaurants next to the large window with a view of the city. Hyunjin was more into art, but being the only son of his powerful father who owned hotel chains, he gave him that one right on his 18th birthday, since then Hyunjin has taken more than good care of it, and decorates it in his favorite pieces of art, his favorite part.
Minho stood up to greet him, shaking hands and a quick hug.
âBusy me? If it's you who's going around the country with your galleriesïżœïżœ Minho replied, sitting down.
âI know, I know, it's unbelievable. Have you ordered lunch yet?â
âYes.â
âI'll order the sameâ Hyunjin shouted to his employee as he sat in his chair facing Minho.
âBig day tomorrow, huh?â added Minho.
âOf course, you have to be there, I even left the presidential suite just for you.â
Hyunjin leaned back in his chair clasping his hands together with a smile on his face. Minho laughed softly.
âI don't get ready in hotels anymore.â
âWell, do it for me this time, like old times. Besides⊠you have a plus one to my gallery event.â
Minho's soft, amused look tensed a little when he heard his friend.
âOh yeah? Well, I think I'll go alone.â
âIn fact it's mandatory that you go with someone, so I got you that someone.â
âNo thanks, I'd rather not go.â
Hyunjin smiled sideways seeing how cute his friend was getting when he was getting into his temper.
âIt's a girl, but if you want a boy you have to tell me before tonightâ he joked.
âWhy can't I be your date then?â
âI'm sorry, I'm already going with someone tomorrow. But I think it's time for you to start seeing more people.â
Minho gave him a dirty look, he didn't want to have that conversation at their meeting after weeks of not being aware of their lives.
âI'm fine, I'm busy.â
âWhen was the last time you fucked someoneâ Hyunjin blurted out in amusement trying to smooth the conversation.
âIt's none of your business.â
âI'll take that as you haven't done it in a long time.â
âIf you care so much why don't you fuck me in the suite.â
Hyunjin laughed, gently touching his nose, though deep down he believed this was no time for joking⊠or at least it was a little since he didn't know how to tell him what he had to say.
âI would but you'd have to pay back every penny I spent on the pretty girl.â
âYou paid money to a girl to sleep with me against my will? Artists are weird, I thought we were in the 21st century.â
Hyunjin couldn't hold it in anymore so he licked his lips and finally confessed:
âSoyul will be there.â
Minho's smirk left his face little by little and his heart almost stopped when he heard after so long the name of his ex-girlfriend; and that was exactly what Hyunjin was referring to and of the expression on his friend's part that Hyunjin feared for. He couldn't lie to him, Soyul was one of his biggest investors, she had to be present and he couldn't fool his friend; he knew he still wasn't over her, not even after two long years since their breakup; in fact, the idea of getting him someone started a few weeks ago, at their meeting where a drunken Minho confessed to him in tears the deep pain and misery he felt after the one he considered the love of his life left him. That was for Hyunjin the straw that broke the camel's back, he was not going to see his friend depressed.
âSo?â Minho tried to sound nonchalant.
âShe's going with her boyfriend⊠and I think you're still not over herâŠ.â
âAnd you decided to hire a hooker? That's why you left me the suite, isn't it, motherfucker?â
âShe's not a-, well, if you don't want to fuck her, don't, just let her keep you company at my event.â
âWeren't the regular girls available?â
âAll the normal girls in our social circle know Soyul and let's face it, they are very gossipy, it will be embarrassing for you for them to know that you haven't moved on withâŠ.â
âI can go aloneâ he interrupted him, he couldn't bear to hear him say his ex-girlfriend's name one more time.
âCome on, Minho, give yourself a chance, she is really pretty, she is an actress andâŠâ
âA porn actress?â he interrupted him, not taking it seriously.
Meanwhile, their waitress was delivering their food and drinks, trying to act normal after overhearing the conversation.
âShe's a real actress. I'll text you all her information. She's a Scorpio like you if you care about zodiac signs.â
Minho didn't answer, he didn't feel like dealing with anything else.
âThey're freakyâ Hyunjin poke as he picked up his cutlery, Minho frowned. âScorpios. They say theyâre good in bed.â
[...]
âI got wonderful newsâ
Hari suddenly appeared with a huge smile at your work.
âHello to you too?â
âCan you take a break?â
âI'll be back in 5â you shouted and took off your apron to go out with your friend.
âI'm about to close a deal, I think you should have the money by now. You have to quit your job now, you have a date on Saturday.â
You were perplexed.
âHari, what did you do?â you felt your phone vibrate in the back pocket of your jeans.
And there it was, your bank account with an imaginable amount, you opened your mouth in surprise, this was starting to get serious with an amount like that.
âI told you.â
âBut who is it? What does he look like?â you didn't know how to react.
âDon't worry, they are Chan's friends, they are 100% reliable.â
âIs it more than one?â you opened your eyes in surprise.
âIt's not⊠itâs complicated, a friend of Chan's, Hyunjin hired you for his friend Minho, who said he agreed, he just didn't use the app. I wanted to negotiate for him to pay for both of them but I guess he was pretty generous. Anyway, he just wants you to accompany Minho to Hyunjin's exclusive exhibition and pretend to be in a relationship with him for at least two hours?â
It was a lot of information to process, you didn't know what to say.
âHyunjin will explain you more in detail but seriously you have to go otherwise you will be fined that same amount paid and a little more. You can leave as soon as you feel uncomfortable since apparently Minho has a strong personality.â
âBelieve me, I'll leave as soon as I walk through the door.â
[âŠ]
There you were on your Saturday night, standing in front of the door of a luxurious hotel, you walked in and met the handsome young man who was in charge of filling your bank account. You walked shyly toward him and greeted him with embarrassment. His dress code was clear: a short black dress fitted to your silhouette, comfortable shoes and normal underwear. He was going to dress you.
You looked at him, there he was, the famous Hwang Hyunjin himself from the large dynasty of the Hwangs, very influential people; he was taller than you, he had sharp eyes and thick lips, he was more attractive in person and he had to tell you the same.
âYou look spectacular, chĂ©rieâ he mentioned flirtatiously. âCome hereâ he invited you to come closer and you did.
You weren't a big fan of this, but you had to admit that something inside you grew and made you feel incredibly horny, the atmosphere of the hotel, the tense silence and the incredibly handsome man in front of you, in addition to your submissive behavior⊠rarely turned you on a bit.
âDo you want me to call you a make up artist or your make up itâs fine?â he gently touched your hair.
You looked up to see him.
âI think, itâs okay like this.â
You were nervous and slightly horny.
You did your best job with your make up and hair already, the make up was natural and elegant but still visible, matte nude eyeshadow, sharp eyeliner, elongated lashes, soft blush and lipgloss. Your hair was styled with soft waves.
âGreat, so we donât waste more time. You look beautiful already, actually you look better than the photosâ he put his hands in his pants pockets and looked at you up and down biting his lip. âThe dress is ready in the room, but you know what actually, bring it right here. Dress in front of me.â
Hyunjin was already aroused and was fighting his instincts to seduce and touch you, yet you were his friend's tonight, but he thought it only fair to see first what he had paid for. He sat comfortably on the couch and waited for you to return. On the other hand you were more than nervous and strangely agitated with excitement, that dark-haired man dressed in a tight suit all white because that was the theme of the party and finally there it was, a dress whose style and logo you could recognize so well. A white Versace mini dress that you assumed would fit to your mid thighs, you thought you had only seen that style in black so it was strange to see it in the brand's signature pearl white; until you saw the name Hyunjin embroidered on the label, was it designed for you? A shiny black Jimmy Choo silhouette heels, and a white crossbody bag from the same designer of the dress, you were speechless, so amazed that you almost forgot Hyunjin's request, he wanted you to change in front of him, then you saw something that terrified you, a beautiful white lingerie that went perfect under the dress, he wanted to see you naked.
You wanted it to be quick, almost like pulling off a bandit, so you tried to take everything and brought it close to him where you found him sitting on the couch ready for his little private show. You undid your black dress at the bottom so as not to ruin your hair and unthinkingly removed your underwear. Hyunjin was engrossed, he wondered why he didn't choose you, but for him after seeing your naked body. He was struggling as hard as he could to keep an erection from appearing in his pants, but it was too late.
You took off your low sandals ready to put on your underwear but he interrupted you.
âLet me help you.â
He took the garment and squatted down while helping you slide your panties to your area. Hyunjin enjoyed every second of the soft touch of your legs and then stood up to help you fasten your strapless bra. You could feel the tension in the air so you just bit your lip, resisting his hot touches and his warm breath on the back of your neck.
Finally you put on your dress and heels and you looked completely different, you never thought you would get to wear something like that to a type of event you don't frequent. You awkwardly moved the things from your bag to the new one and tried to regain your sanity.
âSomething's missingâ he spoke and grabbed your left wrist.
Hyunjin put on you the characteristic white clover bracelet with gold from the refined Van Cleef jewelry.
âWell, you've seen Minho. This is the key and it's two floors up from hereâ he added, handing you the access card. âI want to see the two of you together in the gallery, he may even could offer you the double of money so you can leave, but please, you have to go with him.â
Hyunjin now spoke in a commanding tone giving you instructions, his hot moment had passed, he had to concentrate.
âAnd please⊠let me know if you and Minho fuck, if the idiot doesn't touch you we can maybe go toâŠ. how about Santorini?â
It seemed that you had your feelings locked in a box and that you acted according to a fever dream. You thought you were an actress and could get out of it easily, you just had to act. Your role was now about a rich girl wannabe.
You entered the room unannounced as instructed by Hyunjin and took a few steps forward until Minho heard the door open, interrupting his grooming time so he came out of his room wrapped in a towel and still with slightly wet hair.
âI didn't order room servâŠâ he said.
Minho stopped dead in his tracks as he looked at you standing there. You didn't know what to do, you were frozen in place; you looked at him, he looked handsome and was half naked, except for the towel covering his private parts, you couldn't help seeing him, his worked body, muscular arms but not exaggerated, his abdomen marked with a small scar above his navel andâŠ. you felt bad but you thought he was looking directly at you too, his marked penis above the white towel. Minho smiled sideways at your nerve to look at him and could tell your mild surprise as you looked at his package, a valid reaction he thought.
âYou're in the wrong room or are you lost?â
Minho could predict why you were there, after all you could only get in with the key. He looked at you sternly waiting for an answer. You took a breath and spoke.
âI will be your companion today at the art exhibition.â
Minho laughed and let out a breath.
âI don't remember ordering a hooker either. That fucker Hyunjin sent you, didnât he?â
The term took you by surprise and you were offended, you were about to defend yourself when he continued speaking.
âSeriously, you can go, I'll pay you more than whatever that bastard gave you, just goâ he waved his hands in a gesture for you to leave.
âI won't.â
âWill you make me call security?â
âDo itâ you challenged.
Minho exhaled in annoyance and touched his forehead in concern.
âI'm going to kill Hwang Hyunjin.â
Without another word he went back to his room and thirty minutes later he came out ready dressed in a white suit with his serious expression. He looked at you for a few seconds with contempt as he passed by you and headed towards his door ready to leave, you ran towards him, leaving at the same time.
âI don't know what Hyunjin is up to but when I see him I'llâŠâ
He was expressing himself annoyed until more people entering the elevator interrupted him.
âI'll get my car keysâ he said to you indifferently as he walked away towards the hotel counter.
You followed Minho, keeping a distance; you glanced around, being able to see from the huge waiting room to the large entrance to the restaurant where you could also see and your heart stopped for a moment when you spotted a long dyed blonde hair sitting at one of the tables. You turned quickly, hoping he couldn't see you, but as if fate would have it, you managed to see him leave his seat and approach the foyer. In panic you slipped into the waiting room where you sat with your back turned.
Felix went straight to Minho.
âLee Minhoâ he blond greeted him enthusiastically.
âHey, Yongbokkie, what brings you here.â
Minho turned to look at Felix and frowned when he saw that you were no longer behind his back, he looked at you for a few seconds until he deduced that you might have finally run away, which made him happy and disappointed at the same time.
âIt's Olivia's birthday dinnerâ.
âOh, congratulate her for meâ the blond smiled at him.
âAre you about to leave?â Felix said.
âYes, I'm going to Hyunjin's.â
âSure, sure, maybe I'll stop by later.â
Minho just smiled at him and asked a few more trivial questions about his parents.
âMr. Lee, your car is outside waiting for youâ the employee interrupted them.
âI have to go Felix, I'll see you later.â
âOf course.â
You were hiding, praying that Felix wouldn't recognize your hair and suddenly you saw him chatting with your 'date' for tonight, apparently they were friends so you felt more terrified, what if by chance Minho decides to tell Felix? Oh you would be ruined. After the short talk you saw Minho leaving towards the exit so once again you slipped away almost running to catch up with Minho. He was surprised to see you back by his side. Minho said,
âMm, the night was just starting to get nice when I thought you had left.â
You gave him a dirty look and followed him to his car where you sat in the passenger seat. When Minho put on his seat belt he noticed the shiny gold detail on the strap of your dress, it was the medusa logo characteristic of that high fashion Italian brand.
âThe bastard dressed you in Versace, you already look more like his than mine.â
You stood still not knowing what to say, it was maybe the first nice thing he had said to you during all your short time together.
Minho inspected you quickly, he was so upset that his friend didnât lie, and just like Hyunjin said, you were a really pretty girl.
âBut he didn't put earrings on you, if you're going to come with me you have to look your best.â
Once again he spoke in a resigned tone and arrived at Tiffany's jewelry store. Minho was resigned to the fact that you would accompany him tonight so he thought if you were going to make Soyul jealous, you really had to do it. Besides he had already inspected you, at first glance you were too pretty and that dress fit you like a dream so that speeded things up.
Once again, you had to go behind him and you entered the luxurious establishment.
âGood evening, Mr. Lee, how can I help you? Would you like something to drink?â the worker hurried to say to you once you entered, with a smile, looking quickly towards you.
You noticed how she looked at you in surprise since Minho hadn't brought another girl since two years ago when he was still in a relationship.
âNothing for me in particular, I'm looking for earrings for women.â
âOf course, I'll show you.â
Minho followed the young woman and you followed Minho, who led you deeper into one of the display counters; you had come a lot of times with Felix every time it was a special occasion for his family since he had been raised among only women, he always offered to buy you some jewelry but you flatly refused. And now there you were, about to accept them from a stranger.
âChooseâ he ordered you. âQuickly, I don't like to be lateâ he looked at his watch.
Timidly you leaned down to look at each one of the fine jewelry until a pair of gold diamond earrings in the shape of a flower caught your attention.
âTheseâ you murmured to Minho.
The clerk stood waiting for his confirmation.
âI'll take those.â
He quickly took care of paying for them without looking at the price and they were finally delivered in their characteristic turquoise box with a white bow. He got into the car first and left the box there, you snorted for a second annoyed at how ungentlemanly and attentive he was, one second you felt like a princess wearing Versace and taking you to Tiffany & Co. and the next you had to run to keep up with him.
As soon as you got in, he said curtly:
âUse them, we're about to get to Hyunjin's.â
You watched him take the steering wheel attractively and noticed two boxes in between of you. You didn't know why you took the other one and Minho, noticing it, quickly placed his hand on yours stopping you.
âIt's the other box.â
You looked at him, he acted a little strange; you took the other box and put on those sparkling diamonds. You had taken the old engagement ring that Minho bought for Soyul before they broke up, he was ready to give it up as it was of no use to him, it was made to fit his ex-girlfriend's finger.
When you arrived you saw that it was not a simple exhibition, but a chateau style mansion with many cars parked at the grand entrance, you got nervous, just like Minho, normally he didn't get like this but it would be the first time he would see Soyul accompanied by the man why she left him and also he had his first kind of date after so long.
Minho let out a breath.
âWell, we have to do it right. You're an actress, right? Create a character right now so we can both be on the same page.â
You didn't know what to say.
âI can change my name andâŠ.â
âYes, thatâs right.â
âWhich one is right for you?â
âAnythingâŠâ
âChoi Eunjoo⊠photographer fromâŠâ
âA place far away, what about Jeju?â he mentioned intensely, he was nervous.
You nodded. You had chosen the name of an inactive random actress who studied at the same university as you, who was a friend of Felix's mother and whose cinematography he forced you to watch while your friend argued how good she looked at her age. If they try to look you up for your name, they would be surprised to see only her and her inactive projects in the early 2000s.
âOkay, let's go.â
You both walked down the dirt road, once you came out of the darkness and Minho noticed people watching, he grabbed you by the waist.
âAnd what is your real name, Eunjoo?â he whispered to you.
[âŠ]
It was better than you expected, you didn't imagine that there would be a construction like this in the modern city, you drank Champagne while you didn't leave Minho's side even for a second; after a couple of drinks you both relaxed completely and walked around the house and admired Hyunjin's paintings. This was maybe a normal Saturday for Minho, but it was for you a dream, you felt like Cinderella, once the clock struck 12 and the charm would be completely gone.
At one point in a room you both finally met Hyunjin, Minho came over to greet him and you shyly watched them chat, Hyunjin gave you a complicit look and smile, he hadn't seen Minho relaxed in years, sadly it was short lived as Soyul entered the room.
You noticed Minho's jaw tighten and saw where his eyes were fixed, on a pretty slim woman with the face of a celebrity. You quickly understood and walked over to Minho, linking your arm around his.
âYou're hereâ she said to him.
She quickly looked at you.
âI'm still Hyunjin's friend.â
âJung Soyul, nice to meet youâ she introduced herself.
You held hands and Minho saw something that broke his heart once again, an engagement ring on her finger, suddenly the alcohol left his body, he felt sick, the suit was suffocating him.
âChoi Eunjooâ you smiled at her.
âSo are you dating?â
Hyunjin could notice the sour look she had on you and that caused him satisfaction.
âYesâ Minho went ahead to say.
âI havenât see you before, Choi Eunjoo.â
She said hypocritically, blinking repeatedly.
âOh, it's just that, I'm an indie photographer from Jeju and⊠I met Minho and the rest is history.â
âOh, now that's romantic.â
âMore romantic than getting to know each other when you're in another relationshipâ Hyunjin added amusedly, taking a sip of his drink.
Soyul gave him a dirty look. And Minho didn't find it funny, he wanted to get out of there. Soyul knew him so well and noticed his expression, meanwhile you were analyzing the look of pity she was giving your boss, so you turned to see him, he looked serious and pale. You quickly approached his ear, covering your lips and whispered to him:
âWe can get out of here if you want, pretend I'm saying something nice to you and smile naturally. You're acting weird.â
And so he did, Minho smiled softly; he hadn't felt the touch of another woman in years, suddenly your warm breath and soft lips brushing minimally against his ear pleased him.
âWe haven't seen the whole exhibition yet, excuse meâ he added, taking your hand.
You moved far enough away and, in a crowded room, he let go of your hand and walked out the large doors to what you could see was a balcony. You didn't know whether to follow him, but you did anyway.
He had unbuttoned his suit and a few buttons on his shirt, he felt suffocated. You saw him leaning against the white stone railing.
âShould I ask what's got you like this?â you said softly.
âYou don't have to follow me around all the timeâ he added defensively. âSoyul cheated on me and now she is going to marry that motherfucker, what a great night to find out.â
You didn't say anything, you didn't know how to comfort someone and in a way, Minho was grateful for your silence.
âWell, once I say it out loud it sounds patheticâ he added.
âHyunjin told me it was complicated for youâŠâ you approached him and hesitated to touch him, but slowly rubbed your hand on his back, âthat he wants the best for you and you start to meet new people.â
Minho let out a chuckle and watched you carefully, he hadn't given himself the task of observing how pretty you looked in that dress, under the moonlight, the way your eyes sparkled and how your lips looked so appetizing, Minho found himself losing his temper a bit for you so he quickly rejected any feelings and immaturely, he became elated and said:
âI don't know why I'm saying this things to a hooker anyway.â
He brushed off your touch and walked away leaving you absolutely lost and somewhat hurt.
The rest of the night you didn't find Minho and you were starting to get scared, you felt out of place, lost in a huge house, full of rich people laughing in their own social circle, you were so sensitive you wanted to cry, you wondered if Minho had abandoned you there.
You checked the time, past midnight and 5 minutes, it was time to go. You tried to look for a way out until you made it, you felt so embarrassed that you would ask for a cab but the signal on your phone there was terrible.
Suddenly you felt a big hand grab your wrist, you turned around scared and found the man you almost cried for tonight.
âLet's get out of here.â
Confused, he led you to his car and you parted on the road in silence. Minho had pondered all night and wanted to take the next step, to finally be with a woman other than his ex-girlfriend, but he didn't know exactly how to ask you.
As you merged into the city you realized he was heading in an unknown direction until you reached the hills in one of the more upscale neighborhoods and finally saw that he had taken you to his house.
You thought he was a selfish piece of shit and there were two options, suddenly he wanted to fuck you or he went home exhausted and sad and would let you call a cab to take you home. But what you didn't know was that he was cynically leaning towards the first option.
You got out of the car and now he was the one running towards you.
âWhy that face y/n?â he said, approaching you.
You looked at him indignantly, suddenly he was calling you by name and wanted to have you close, you thought he must be drunk.
âLet's go inside, you have to be a good girl and thank me for the earrings, I'll make sure to buy you more pairs.â
He grabbed you by the waist, you noticed how his voice became gravelly, but that wasn't how you fell and he knew he said a couple of hurtful things but he didn't know how to apologize. You questioned whether you should play along, fuck him and call it a day and go home, as sadly you had to play along, or so you thought.
You stared into his eyes, those big dark eyes in a cute cat shape, he was attractive and from what you saw earlier he had a good dick, so you decided that if you would cry at least make sure it was worth it.
âWhat do you have in mind?â you rounded his neck and moved your face closer.
He smiled mischievously and, the next thing you knew, you were both in his home entrance devouring each other's lips. Minho had a lot of dirty ideas while he was away from you during the party, the alcohol made him horny. He took off his coat and untucked his shirt and undid his belt. He slipped his hands under your dress lifting it and shamelessly squeezed and massaged your ass, drawing you to his body where you began to feel his erection rubbing against you; Minho loved the idea of touching your bare ass since you only had tiny panties on, you moaned as you felt his lips and tongue on your neck, for some reason his mouth was so soft and you were a complete sucker when you were treated to a lot of physical contact during sex.
You parted and an act of lust, he sought to undo your dress and bra, he stared at you, semi naked for him and began to move his kisses down your breasts without breaking eye contact, it looked fucking good to watch him as he moved down your body and feasted himself on your tits until he moved down to your underwear and wet pussy. By this point you were panting and in need of action. His sharp nose brushed against your mons pubis and he slowly slid your underwear down your legs until he stripped them from you. He parted your legs a little and you felt his hot breath on your area screaming for attention. Minho took your pussy with his big hands and parted your folds, sticking his tongue out shyly and giving your whole pussy a deep, dirty kiss. You gave a little cry of excitement and didn't think you were capable of standing in heels while he ate you out.
Minho felt so good, with his thumb he stimulated your clit as you gave little spasms into him from your excitement. He noticed that you were becoming increasingly impossible to hold so he stopped, carried you suddenly upstairs to his room. Minho laid you down on his bed while he stayed on the edge of it finishing undressing himself. You watched the spectacle with excitement, from his notorious veins to his hands undoing buttons that looked tiny and finally his pants releasing his big firm erect cock, your heart raced faster just watching it, it was delicious, he was incredibly endowed, it was big and thick with notorious veins, you bit your lip thinking how incredibly painful but pleasurable that would feel in your pussy.
Minho saw your reaction and quickly positioned himself over you, he took your wrists and held them with one hand above your head.
âDid you like what you see, little whore?â
You nodded, unable to speak properly, if you tried to say anything it would surely be in a needy tone. You could feel him slapping your belly every time he came closer to you.
âYou want it in your mouth?â
You almost screamed please, but before you could speak, Minho lay back waiting to be satisfied. On your knees and arching your back purposely giving him a view of your dripping pussy, you took his big cock and inserted it into your mouth tasting every vein. Minho sat up and began to fuck you with two fingers inserting them into your vagina. You are a mess, completely wet, with cum and saliva sliding down the corner of your lips, you didn't think it could have been better until you feel his hands on your hips and he tries to position you on top of him. You helped him a little and for the first time you were experiencing the 69 position.
You were panting between his big dick, your nose was starting to get slippery and little tears were coming out of your eyes. On the other hand Minho had his tongue deep inside you, he was tasting your labia, and stimulating your clitoris and from time to time he passed your wetness stimulating your exposed ass.
You stopped sucking him off when you felt your climax near, you sat up while resting your hands on his marked abdomen, only your gasps and grotesque sound of Minho devouring your pussy could be heard in the room, occasionally he would let out tinies 'mmmh' enjoying every second of you. You clung more to his abdomen and lifted your ass gently so as not to rest all your weight on him; you threw your head back blinded with pleasure.
âI'm gonna cumâ you announced in a desperate, choked cry.
And just when you didn't think it could have been any better, Minho accelerated his licking and sucked harder, bringing you to the edge until you collapsed in his mouth. Your orgasm had been so strong that it hurt your abdomen a little.
You pulled away from him, embarrassed and soaking wet but Minho was more than happy. He leaned back on his elbows and wiped his mouth with a smile, it had been a long time since he had the intimacy of good sex, let alone eating such an appetizing nice pussy like yours, he smiled as he was satisfied that he was still excellent in bed.
You looked at his naked body again, his hard cock was needy and sensitive and within seconds you were horny again. Minho grabbed you roughly by the face and kissed you heatedly. He pulled away from you and with his hand made a motion indicating you to turn around, confused you showed him your ass and put yourself in four.
Minho without thinking caressed your buttocks and then spanked you hard 5 times in a row, each stroke exalted you and made you moan pleasurably, your skin was burning with pain, you could predict that your ass was thus as red as your riotous cheeks.
Minho played with your pussy a little, reinserting his fingertips, you saw him take a condom and within seconds you felt the latex on the tip of his penis teasing your entrance. Until you felt him slowly insert half of his erection and then insert the rest all at once causing you to let out a soft cry. You arched your back again as you gently moved your ass, adjusting yourself to his massive cock, filling your insides.
âI'm going to fuck you hard, kitten.â
He murmured and without warning and without mercy he began to ram you bestially making the sound of his pelvis slapping your buttocks resonate along with the sounds of your wet and well lubricated cunt. You couldn't help but moan every time he was inside, you felt like you were going to swoon all over him, it felt so good for you as well as for him, finally, the adrenaline and desire to fuck someone who wasn't as vanilla as his ex-girlfriend, Minho always liked to fuck hard.
You were in paradise, you were wearing diamonds and he was abruptly pounding your insides. Minho was holding you by the hips but soon grabbed a fistful of your hair and pulled it, riding you wonderfully; his view was beautiful, he pulled his grip tighter and pressed you to his body, your back rubbing against his bare chest, you could feel his cock protruding from your lower belly, thrusting you hard. In one swift movement, he held you with his strong right arm whose naughty fingers pinched and stimulated your clit and with his left hand he began to gently choke you. He gasped from time to time in your ear âfuckâ over and over again. You both synchronized your climax and you felt the grip of his hand on your neck getting tighter and tighter until you couldn't breathe, you adored it, you loved how your body was fighting for oxygen but at the same time seeking the culmination of your pleasure, your heart beat faster and oxytocin shot out of your system and in desperation you placed your hands on his hand on your neck, you felt every vein exalted from his strong grip.
You thought you were going to pass out but it was only your shuddering second orgasm, Minho slowly released you and cum on the condom still inside you. You ended up exhausted, racing and with your limbs trembling.
You had never been fucked so well that you almost felt the need to tell him I love you so you could have him forever.
The next morning you woke up naked, still in his comfortable bed. When you opened your eyes you found Minho buttoning his shirt, he looked all tidy and was getting ready.
âAre you going somewhere on Sunday?â
You spoke, hoarse and still asleep.
Minho turned to see you and smiled, he thought you looked cute with your hair in disarray and your face a little puffy, but after a second he regretted it. He refused to feel anything for you other than just desire.
âYou have to go. The driver is outside.â
He told you coldly and walked out of his room, leaving you slightly heartbroken.
He was unbelievable.

In a world where everything seems superficial, they seek to get to the truth and know the essence behind everything.
Sagittarius Rising: The Wanderer
There is an air of mystery in their relaxed and contemplative appearance. Natives with a strong physique, gifted with the charisma and wisdom of Jupiter, these natives tend to look older when they are young and younger when older. A charming enigma, they can go from being hilarious, witty and jovial, to being rational, analytical and observant. An insatiable thirst to see beyond appearances, seemingly perfect systems and the masks people seem to wear. Strong will and mind, endowed with courage and bravery, no obstacle seems greater if they take a look at everything that forged them. They are people devoted to the beliefs they have and, no matter how open-minded, making them change their minds is not an easy task. Adventurous and curious when something catches their attention, rooted when making a decision. An inquisitive mind with idealistic overtones, a strong need for independence and a character with ambivert tendencies.
When we see Capricorn in their 2nd house, we can define that they firmly believe in the value of hard work and effort. From a very early age they learned that the best things in life or the most valuable things require work, sometimes giving up things that, although deep-rooted, only cause pain. They are willing to make sacrifices and work intensely long hours to achieve their goals. They do not usually take unnecessary risks and prefer safe and stable investments, both economic and time and energy. They have a strong ambition to achieve success and feel proud of themselves. They set high goals for themselves and are willing to work hard and persevere to achieve them. These natives are the clear representation of valuing quality over quantity, and can be considered picky by other people. Their self-esteem and self-worth are often linked to their achievements of all kinds, leading them to feel that sense of security when they have achieved their goals. They think long term and plan their future with vision and strategy. Their focus is on building a solid foundation that will provide them with lasting security and prosperity. It is likely that they grew up feeling that many things were missing in their lives, materially, emotionally or even spiritually.
Since they have Aquarius in the 3rd house, these natives are very open to new and different ideas, a trait that is often constantly associated with this rising. They enjoy discussing and debating theories and concepts on many diverse topics, from the simplest to the most profound. They have the quality of adapting well to different communication styles and are able to speak with people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives, ironically, they hardly feel that other people understand their way of thinking. Sometimes they may even feel judged for the way they communicate and think. They value mental independence and prefer to think for themselves rather than blindly following what others say. Their thinking is free and they do not easily conform to traditional opinions, nor are they afraid to question them. They have strong intellectual intuition and can reach conclusions quickly through intuitive perceptions. They are not afraid to question or debate regardless of the person they are dealing with. They are prone to feeling creative during short trips and can be inspired by things that to others may be very mundane or simple. Their rational nature helps them find ingenious solutions to complex problems. They have an insatiable intellectual curiosity and love to learn about a wide range of topics. There are chances of being only children, having some kind of distance from their siblings, or feeling very different from them. They can treat friends fraternally.
There is a lot of depth in the overlay of Pisces in the 4th house, as it is a part of the natives that others do not have a notion of so easily. In their childhood they could have been sensitive children, with that curiosity about the world around them, to understand how things worked, the people around them and, even at their young age, how life worked. There may have been that feeling of being lost, of not finding your place and a longing for that security that is associated with the word 'home'. For these natives, it is an important refuge for them, a place where they can retreat and recharge their energies, and I clarify, this does not necessarily have to be the one in which they were born, but rather the one they create. They dream of a quiet home, in which they can lower the volume of the outside chaos. Many of these natives need a serene space to maintain their emotional balance. They can find comfort in movies, books, music or even in the art they create, whatever it may be. This placement sometimes suggests someone who from an early age had to take care of someone else, whether it was a sibling, an older relative, or even their own parents. They are very perceptive people of the emotions of others, especially those that are deeper, those that others seek to hide. They can also be very intuitive with the emotional needs of their family members. They like to create a welcoming and hospitable environment in their home, as they enjoy making others feel welcome and comfortable in their space. They need a space where they can escape the demands of the outside world and find solace. They look for an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity at home.
With Aries in the 5th house, these natives tend to have a passionate approach to romances. Romance with them feels like an awakening, the awakening of excitement, intrigue, and a desire to explore new things with them. An emotion that drives you in your daily life, that motivates you and drives you to live the day as if it were your last. They greatly value their independence but once they know that you are what they want, they jump in with enthusiasm and can be very direct and honest in expressing their feelings. They like certainty and indecision in a person may seem unattractive to them. There are no grey tones, half-hearted feelings or unfinished ideas, they are looking for a lover as willing, daring and passionate as they are. Love makes them feel alive, fills them with enthusiasm and the desire to go after what they want. It is very likely that once they find love they will feel more ambitious, creative and confident. They value their independence and freedom in love, so they will not tolerate any type of relationship that restricts them or makes them feel limited or incapable of being themselves. They will always focus on motivating their partner and encouraging them to do what they are passionate about, they will never limit them in any way. These natives attract a lot of attention and stand out for their attractiveness, confidence, and sexy and independent aura. Many of them enjoy playful competitiveness. Their self-expression is direct and unfiltered. They are not afraid to be themselves and express their opinions and desires clearly and forcefully. If they decide to have children, they will be active, expressive, playful and very authentic. They can be parents who prioritise that their children have a strong sense of self-acceptance, that they are not afraid of anything and that they feel empowered.
Something that these natives will prioritise a lot no matter what their well-being is, from physical, to emotional and mental, which we attribute to Taurus in the 6th house. When they see that something is not positive in their lives, they do not hesitate to keep it away from them, because they are in constant search to keep what gives them pleasure and comfort close, distancing themselves from what sinks them and prevents them from growing. They can be very selective about what they make part of their day to day, and this includes the people they surround themselves with. They are people who will make part of their routine things that they find pleasant or comfortable, so they may have problems doing chores or things that they find boring or repetitive, postponing them and falling into procrastination tendencies. Taking care of their body and emotional tranquillity is something of great importance to them, so it is common for natives with this placement to exercise, do or have skincare routines, read constantly, meditate or practise similar activities. Many of them have this need to stay active, to be constantly doing things and even if they stay busy, they may have that feeling that they are not using properly most of their time or that they could be doing even more productive things. This placement tells us about the importance of comfort for them when choosing a job, without forgetting that it can also indicate earning a lot of money doing something that they really like and gives satisfaction. In their work they can enjoy not only a good reputation, but lasting bonds and courtesy with others. Taurus being here shows us natives who can be very devoted and constant with any task they have to do, investing a lot of time in it. A good work ethic is possible and a calm and relaxed way of working, as they dislike putting themselves under constant stress.
They highly value their independence, it is difficult to get their attention, and it is even more difficult to awaken in them that desire to have a long-term relationship, and it is not because of fear of commitment, but on the contrary, they think deeply and are very clear about what they want in a relationship and a partner for the long run. This rational and analytical, but above all precise approach is thanks to Gemini in the 7th house, as it means that Mercury is ruling this house. These natives do not have a long list of requirements that you have to meet to be their life partner, but they know perfectly well what things they do not want to deal with. Their discernment makes them realise this easily, and their blunt personality makes them not hesitate to make it clear. They want a partner who makes them look twice, who awakens their curiosity, interest and that has a magnetism that attracts them. They are fascinated by people who always have something to say, those with a clever and agile mind that fills them with excitement and makes them discover sides of themselves that they didn't even know they had. Someone that speaks their mind, that turns daily and boring into exciting and pleasant. They have a fear of deception and sudden distancing from their special person, so they will look for a partner who seeks to be present without the native asking for it. They are people who think a lot when it comes to being with another person. They want to find someone who will erase their doubts with actions and words, a person who will constantly let them know their intentions, feelings and thoughts, someone who will surprise them, not necessarily with seemingly big and outlandish things but by showing that they are not the same as the rest of the people that the natives to found throughout their lives. Good communication is something of utmost importance when thinking about a potential long-term partner, much more than other aspects even. For them it is crucial that this person can talk to them about anything regardless of the weight of the situation. Their future spouse is a person with great intelligence, good social skills and a person who uses his resources and knowledge astutely, someone who is difficult to catch off guard, open-minded and often a fascinating communicator. They will enjoy a marriage with adventures, fun and many learnings. Both the natives and their partners will feel intrigued and strongly attracted to each other, they will be intellectually stimulated and may even feel that they are both friends and partners.
One of the aspects of their personality that is less talked about but that is very determining in them is Cancer in the 8th house. These natives experience their emotions in a very intense and deep way. Their emotional world is rich and complex, and they can be very sensitive to the energies and emotions of others. Although they are protectors and caregivers, they can hide their own emotional vulnerability. Many of them, due to their experiences, are often afraid of showing their weaknesses and tend to build a protective shell around their emotions. They have an innate capacity for emotional healing, both for themselves and for others, transforming themselves and those around them internally. They can be excellent counselors, therapists, or emotional healers. They are firm protectors of what they consider family [whether biological or not], they will keep those they love safe and will not hesitate to attack to defend them if necessary. Their approach to sexuality is deeply tied to their emotions as it is crucial for them to feel a strong emotional connection to fully enjoy their sex life. They may have deep fears of abandonment or betrayal in their intimate relationships. They need to feel a deep emotional and spiritual connection with their partners and can be very protective and nurturing in their intimate relationships, being attentive to their partner's needs. They love the idea of ââhaving a relationship where both can be vulnerable with the other and where both fiercely defend the other, giving themselves body and soul to the other.
These natives usually have Leo in the 9th house, which tells us that their pride lies in their intelligence, talents and abilities. They are excellent and fierce debaters who will always seek to speak their truth without filters and without trying to win the good side of others. Strongly tied to their convictions, they give great importance to justice and will always act according to what they consider optimal and most correct in certain situations. Since I mention their strong and fixed opinions, it is worth mentioning that it is difficult to change their minds. If the native is not grounded enough, they are likely to believe that they have the absolute truth and refuse to listen to other people. Their intelligence and ability to create is great and they can bring many interesting and successful projects to life. They will have a lot of happiness traveling or connecting with other cultures, as well as a source of ideas and the ability to create warm memories in places far from home. They may feel very different from people from whatever group they belong to, from school, or even from the stereotypes of their countries. They have a strong passion for knowledge and education, as they love to learn and may have a great interest in philosophical, spiritual or cultural topics. They can communicate their ideas passionately and effectively, motivating others to learn and explore. They have academic ambition and in some cases this placement leads them to seek high achievements in their education.Â
With Virgo in the 10th house, these natives are seen as reliable and responsible people in their professional field, coupled with their serious and committed approach to their work, earning them the respect of their colleagues and superiors. Their integrity and work ethic are fundamental to them, and they do everything they can to avoid mistakes or failures. For them it is always crucial to charge and show that they act based on their principles, seeking to do things correctly. They stand out for being adaptable and able to adjust to the changing demands not only of the professional environment, but of what they experience throughout their lives. They are extremely dedicated to their work. They have a strong and admirable work ethic and are diligent and meticulous in everything they do. Always seeking to improve and achieve high quality standards. They can be very critical of themselves and others, especially those who boast of being superior in role or morals. They can be excellent in roles that involve analysis, administration, or any type of detailed work. They may choose jobs in which they maintain order, have control of a specific area or a specific group of people, that are related to analysis and research, or something that involves supporting or helping others. They do not seek recognition or glory, but are satisfied with doing their job well. They are not interested in pleasing others or meeting other people's expectations, rather they constantly strive to meet the expectations of a single person, themselves.
Natives with Libra in the 11th house are selective with friends, thinking a lot before giving that title to someone; Despite their initial wariness, they remain cordial enough. As friends these natives can be very supportive and caring, giving not only sympathy and affection, but also bringing realism to the lives of their friends and colleagues. This placement gives them the tendency to be popular and/or recognized either in their environment or on the internet. They value their friendships very much and will always focus on them being fair relationships in which they get the same as they give to others. They can create very strong ties with friends and vice versa, in some cases it can be expressed in friends being very attached to the native and relying on them, although there may be a risk of dependence on either party. They are very good at working as a team and can count on diplomacy. They are the kind of people who seek social justice, can defend others from injustice and prevent them from getting hurt. They hate injustice and discrimination, because they believe in equality regardless of gender, age, race or beliefs. They are skilled at mediating and resolving conflicts within their social groups. Their natural diplomacy allows them to find fair and balanced solutions to disagreements. They have the ability to positively influence the groups to which they belong. Their ability to see both sides of a situation allows them to provide balanced and fair perspectives. This house is also related to earnings through their work, with Venus ruling this house we can also determine that they can have many economic benefits in a job that they genuinely like.
What lies within you, love? How does Scorpio in the 12th house play a role? When someone sees you they immediately perceive your strength, they sense your impetus and courage, many even tremble at the power that you naturally emanate, but only those who dare to look directly into your intense and sharp gaze, realize the pain that has forged your shell and attitude. You are secretive with many aspects of your life, you deeply bury the gray and overwhelming tints that life has poured on you. You don't let anyone know for fear that it will be used against you. You have learned to watch you back, that trust is not something that is given to just anyone. From betrayals, disappointments, people's cruelty and prejudices... you have been through a lot and yet you remain firm, because you know that you yourself are your most faithful companion and your strength. Fear of betrayal, revealing too much of yourself and being judged or ignored, fear of loving someone who doesn't love you with the same depth. You have a fascinating mind, a fervent desire to get to the bottom of things, and the ambition that allows you to achieve it. It is difficult to hide things from you, because your keen intuition accompanied by your need to discover the truth are your most lethal weapon. You feel things deeply, many times more than you would like, and for you there is no middle ground. You are decisive and do not hesitate, things may be black or white, yes or no, all or nothing⊠Unlike other people, you find refuge in the spaces where you are on your own. At the end of the day it is better than the masked crowds, those who smile in front of you and conspire behind your back. You have the ability to sense when someone is not what they seem, you can detect people who have shady intentions for miles, a gift that experience has given you. All of these traits protect your noble and loyal heart, the one that makes you capable of completely surrendering to something or someone that makes you feel safe and comfortable. It's never too much for you when it comes to someone you love or something you're passionate about.

Difficult Placements in the Natal Chart
*Difficult: defined as "not easy; needing effort or skill to do or to understand"Â
I'm going to be discussing what placements I believe are more difficult to have in a natal chart. I just want to emphasize that this is my opinion (Tamra Judge voice) . Let's remember that all placements have their pros and cons, you are not defined by a few unfavorable placements. Of course, aspects and orbs matter... Chiron with 3 squares to your personal planets will be more difficult to handle than if you had Chiron trine Sun and Venus, for example.
One last thing: Difficult placements can be the ones with the most value. They teach you things, make you stronger, and they can make you an inspiration to people dealing with similar situations. Difficult placements have their positives too, which we will discuss.
đ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§ż
Sun conjunct Chiron: These natives go through a lot of pain, physically and emotionally. They go through many trials and have to learn how to heal again and again. I feel like the universe puts them through a lot so that one day they can help others, which is nice but damn. This aspect can easily make someone slip into addiction, depression, and bitterness if the energy isn't channeled correctly. These people are prone to psychic attacks that lead to chronic illness, specifically migraines.
Positives: Can become a healer, can help other people through their problems, can become an inspiration, selfless character.
Sun square/opposite Neptune: These natives struggle when it comes to their fragile ego. They are deeply sensitive and feel things intensely. They absorb energies meaning if they're around negative people, they themselves will become negative as well. It's so important for these people to be surrounded by positive and successful individuals. Sun square/opposite Neptune is also easily manipulated and taken advantage of since they tend to see the world through rose-colored glasses. Throughout life, this placement can make an individual feel unworthy and inferior which can lead to a victim mentality that's hard to break. Watch out for escapist behavior because these people are prone to addiction.
Positives: These people are very psychic and should work on their spiritual abilities. Becoming religious or spiritual can be very beneficial for them. They have the most impressive imagination and are super creative.
Capricorn Moon: I've noticed that people with Capricorn as their moon sign have difficulties with being vulnerable and asking for help. They are the people that hold their family and friends together - they are the strong one. Oftentimes, they become responsible too early in life, which probably cut their childhood short if they had one at all. Their sense of responsibility is their strength but its also a weakness; they don't want to be thought of as "weak" or "needy" so they hold their feelings in. Like Pisces, when their emotions come on strong they need an escape, Capricorns rely on work and their sense of duty. They are prone to becoming workaholics and will ignore painful situations by working all the time.
Positives: Likely to become successful career-wise, very driven and ambitious, people trust them, they make great friends because you can rely on these people.
Aquarius Moon: Similar to Capricorn, Aquarius Moons struggle with their emotions and how to express them. Their emotions might not even be felt in some cases. They look at things intellectually and in a detached way; they think "Should I be sad about this?" or "Am I supposed to be angry?". Growing up, they probably didn't have someone that they could emotionally confide in or even worse, they could've been punished for showing their emotions. I've noticed a lot of Aquarius Moons have a detached sense of family, they could've been adopted or they just feel "different", they could even look at themselves as the black sheep.
Positives: Can come up with creative solutions to problems, a great friend, nonjudgemental and open minded when it comes to others and their life experiences.
Moon square Pluto: This placement could've been the victim of abuse, especially from their mother. Their mothers could have struggled with mental illness and unfortunately these natives could've been the scapegoat and received the backend. Their mothers could be careless one second and the next they could become obsessive; the obsessiveness usually shows when the native leaves home and creates space between them. This leads to distrust in people, women especially. Moon square Pluto people cling onto any sense of control because they grew up in utter chaos. Unfortunately, these people can deem self destructiveness as "normal" since it was what they knew throughout their whole childhood.
Positives: If these people conquer the negative traits brought on by this aspect, they could become great psychiatrists or therapists. These people are devoted and loyal.
Moon square Saturn: This placement could've struggled with feeling unsafe in childhood; like they couldn't count on their parents. Their mothers were less affectionate than normal and they didn't receive the comfort that they needed, which leads them to being uncomfortable with affection in adulthood. They probably went through some tough changes in childhood which is why they loathe change as an adult. This placement could've felt like they had to parent their parent, specifically their mother. And their mothers could've vented to them about problems that they had no business hearing, cutting their childhood short. Their mothers could go to them for advice a lot of times. They could've felt like a burden growing up, usually an emotional burden but more likely a financial burden.
Positives: Strives to become successful, these people are independent and self sufficient.
Virgo Venus: Virgo Venus isn't too bad but can make a native struggle with self esteem issues. I put this on my list because these people attract lovers that need fixing. Venus in Virgo love to fix people and make them "better". The people they're trying to fix could be toxic and destructive; the "bad boys/girls". But having their partner in focus and ignoring their own needs makes them resentful after awhile. I've noticed this placement attracts creeps and stalkers as well because they have a vibe of innocence and purity. In love, they can grow to be very demanding and make their partners feel inadequate in the process. They also get the ick quite easily, meaning its easy to turn them off.
Positives: Is reliable in love, a lady in the streets freak in the sheets type, definitely someone you want to bring home to your family, will take care of you.
Venus in the 8th house: Venus in the 8th house natives tend to be possessive and jealous in love. It's not that they view their partners as property (they can but this placement alone doesn't indicate that imo), they are just extremely loyal and expect their partner to be as well. From my experience, Venus in the 8th house people are ready to give it all up for someone they love. They want to merge and become one with their partner. Their intensity comes from a good place but once a relationships ends, it can be very very painful for them. Love and relationships trigger transformations for these people and sometimes triggers transformations in their partners. They come out of relationships a stronger and better version of themselves but this is usually achieved through heartache. This placement also has a real fear of abandonment and will stay in toxic relationships for this reason.
Positives: Loyal and devoted in love, is a ride or die person. They are very alluring and magnetic. Not easily forgotten.
Venus in the 12th house: I believe these natives are too good for the world. I say this because, like 8th house Venus, they are ready to give it all up for love. Venus in the 12th house is self sacrificial to a fault, oftentimes neglecting themselves in relationships. Love can bring subconscious pain to the forefront, attracting lovers that make them face hidden problems they hold within themselves. Venus being in the house of the hidden, it's not uncommon for these individuals to be the "other woman/man" or be in secret relationships for whatever reason. They can be easily manipulated and taken advantage of since they're hopeless romantics. This can lead to them having to regulate how much love they have for someone; they'll hold back their feelings and needs in fear of being naive and walked on.
Positives: They love people genuinely and whole heartedly, they see the best in their partners, they form deep connections in love.
Venus square/opposite Saturn: These natives may have grown up in an environment that lacked physical affection. This creates a person that is uncomfortable in love and becomes very regulated with how they express their emotions. They may be inherently insecure when they're young which creates doubt around being loved; they're prone to thoughts like "why would anyone love me?" which then creates trust issues. These people also struggle with self-love, they have feelings of inadequacy and compare themselves to others a lot. Since they have low self esteem, they often attract partners that treat them badly and the worst part is they think they deserve it. These people aren't fans of PDA or physical touch and often express love through gift giving or acts of service.
Positives: Self sufficient, usually has a "glow up" later in life, once this placement is conquered (could be the second half of life) they are unstoppable and have so much love for themselves.
Mars in 4th, 8th, 12th house: Mars doesn't feel very comfortable in water houses, this is especially true if the native has a lot of squares and oppositions to their Mars or water house lord. Mars ignites the emotional watery nature of the houses which can lead to sudden outbursts. Mars in the 4th house natives could have dealt with a prominent mother who dominated the household (4th house). This could indicate that a father figure was absent or estranged. Either that, or his role was weak compared to the mothers. Mars in the 4th house could also signify an aggressive mother and hostile home environment. Mars in the 8th house natives experience extreme emotions a lot of the time, this can include anger, obsession, and jealousy. Since Mars is in the 8th house of transformations, you can expect these people to go through many many painful changes in their life because Mars here speeds things up. These natives are prone to accidents involving vehicles, tools, gym equipment, etc. so watch out for transits! Mars in the 12th house could suppress their martian traits; sexuality, motivation and anger... or it could be the opposite, they could become addicted to sex and have a wicked temper, depending on the sign and aspects. Trauma related to sexuality and the inability to stick up for oneself could be prevalent here as well, or they could be downright violent towards others. These people can either lack motivation or become extremely restless. They also probably have crazy vivid dreams and aggressive hidden enemies.
Side Note: Mars in water houses can either be horrible or not so bad, it really depends on the rest of the chart. I included this because the negatives can be extreme.
Mars square/opposite Pluto: These natives usually had a childhood filled with violence and witnessed a lot of strong emotional outbursts. This makes the native think that reacting aggressively or even violently is normal. They could've been abused by their peers, siblings or parents. As they grow up, physical violence, fights, and anger issues could arise. They can get offended really easily and people just assume they're picking fights. Has a lot of physical energy that can manifest as aggression.
Positives: If they channel their energy correctly, they could become talented athletes. Has enough energy to meet their goals and then some.
Saturn in the 1st house: These people have had it hard since childhood. These natives struggle to be comfortable within themselves due to being surrounded by critical people and even being bullied growing up. The judgmental voices they grew up listening to becomes the voice within. They could struggle with body dysmorphia and have deep rooted insecurities. They are confused within themselves and their insecurity could make them miss a lot of great opportunities.
Positives: These people often have a deep sense of responsibility and can be very successful in their career, depending on the rest of the chart.
Saturn in the 7th house: Saturn, the planet of restriction and blockages, sitting on the 7th house of partnerships can make a native go through a lot of trial and error when it comes to one on one relationships. These people could be shy and fear intimacy due to their self esteem especially when they're young. Since Saturn is very karmic in nature, these people could attract toxic relationships or partners that don't fit well with them in order to learn necessary lessons. These people should be careful of going into business with people and also should be careful of divorce settlements (sign that prenup!)
Positives: After Saturn return, these natives will finally meet an adequate partner and since the universe put them through trial and error, they'll be ready for it. Has meaningful life long friendships.
Chiron opposite ASC/Chiron in the 7th house: These peoples' lessons come in the form of lovers. Betrayal, deceit, heartbreak, and infidelity can make their way into these natives lives. It doesn't have to be those themes although it can be. Depending on the sign of your 7th house, those are the themes that'll teach you the lessons and open up old wounds. For example: Leo in the 7th house (Aquarius rising) you may attract and deal with partners who, worst case scenario, are selfish, egotistical, and want everything to revolve around them. This could trigger your childhood in which your parents fought with each other and forgot about you in the process. Another example is Aries descendent (Libra rising) you may deal with partners who are aggressive, dominating, and maybe even violent. This could trigger old wounds from childhood: maybe you lived in a home where domestic violence was prevalent. You get the idea.
Positives: You're not doomed in love by the way, it's just 7th house signs and their themes that will show up throughout your life. The examples I used were pretty extreme to get the point across. The positive here is that most of the time, the themes are much more discreet. For the 7th house Chiron in Leo example I used, it could be that your partner is self centered and you recognize and treat this. Could be an easy lesson learned (well it better be because if not it's gonna keep showing up).
Chiron in the 11th house: Chiron in the 11th house is a placement I personally have using Placidus. These natives never feel like they fit in, they feel like they're looked at as the outcast, like they don't belong. This is usually the consequences of being bullied as a child and made to feel less than. These people could go through a hard time in life where they have no friends and feel like they have no one to turn to. Loneliness could be a prominent theme in their lives especially when they're young. Chiron in the 11th house would rather have one on one connections than be part of a friend group.
Positives: Could be an advocate for people sharing similar experiences, knows how to be a good friend, values friendships and knows how to be alone.
Chiron conjunct Pluto: I have this one! I've noticed that certain painful experiences; death, heartache, betrayal, rejection affect me SO much. Growing up my mom would just brush these things off and say that they're a part of life. But to me, these things would happen and I would grow to fear them immensely. For example; my grandmother who I was super close to passed away when I was 17 and ever since then I've been terrified of my parents dying. Painful experiences really change people with this aspect, for better or for worse.
Positives: These people are forced to confront their deepest fears which in turn makes them stronger. They have the power to transform themselves after traumatic events.
Lilith in the 1st house: Lilith is the exact opposite of what "women should be" which rubs people, men specifically, the wrong way. It also rubs older generations the wrong way or whoever believes in traditional gender roles. Here in the 1st house, these natives embody Lilith which, you guessed it, rubs people the wrong way. They usually have trauma related to males trying to put them down or put them in their place, even as a child. Growing up, adult women could talk about them negatively as well. Everywhere they go, there's people that look at them sideways; they're either disgusted or intrigued. They often experience people hating them for "no reason". The real reason for this reaction is because they make people feel threatened just by being. They were also sexualized from a young age and could've had older people, mostly men, commenting on their bodies.
Positives: Extremely magnetic and alluring, blessed with beauty, intense aura and presence, always gets what they want.
Lilith in the 10th house: Similar to Lilith in the 1st house, these natives have a tendency to set people off just by being themselves. This creates a lot of disturbance in the workplace; people either love them or hate them but either way their reaction to them is extreme. Male authority can either sexualize them or belittle them making the workplace uncomfortable. Lilith being Lilith here, they may use this power to their advantage and climb the ranks so to speak. Rumors about them swirl around the workplace because people are just obsessed.
Positives: Strong people, very attractive, can use their good looks to their advantage, will grow to be a boss.
18° in Personal Planets/1st house/6th house/8th house: 18° is the shadow side of Virgo. Having this degree could indicate serious illness, tragedy, and critical misfortunes playing a role in your life. This doesn't have to be the native themselves experiencing these things, but it will affect them whether that be through family, a partner, friendships, etc.
Positives: I feel like this could be true but not always so if you have this degree anywhere you're most likely safe. But then again you might not be. Good luck. :)
đ§żđïżœïżœđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§żđđ§ż
I'm definitely forgetting a bajillion placements but it's all so negative so I'm going to end here. I'm not trying to be negative I'm just shining a light on certain placements because they're fucking hard to deal with!!!
To the people that say no placement is bad or negative: how does it feel to have rainbows and sunshine shooting out of your fucking ass?! Be forreal.
Life is hard, we all know that. How could we appreciate the fortunes if we didn't have misfortunes? For all the negative there will be positive too. Here's to all of us and our shitty fucking placements đ

Stolen Destiny (II)
Feyd Rautha x fem!reader
summary: the na-baron takes an interest in you
warnings: adults only, all characters are over 18, smut in future chapters, misogyny, dark themes, canon typical violence
word count: 1.8k
previous chapter / dividers / masterlist
â...humiliatingâŠdisgustingâŠbarbaricâŠâ
You flinch as your fatherâs anger roars. Nothing you do will ever please him.Â
âWhat do you think will be said of me? Of how I raised you?â
âYou didnât,â you want to say. Instead you apologize. Harkonnens are animals you rationalize. They were testing to see if you were prey and you had to show them you arenât.Â
âAnd in doing so youâve tainted yourself.â
Itâs like a slap. The cut on your hand still stings from the solution theyâd scrubbed on it. It had only been a handshake. It was a show of strength. Heâd understand that sentiment if there was a cock swinging between your legs. He doesnât stay to say more, leaving you to nurse the wounds alone.Â
A feast is held that night. A welcome to your guests. You're squeezed into a new outfit, one you've been told your father deems more appropriate than the one youâd had chosen. Itâs the first time heâs ever taken the initiative to dress you. It gives you no pleasure to recognize the dress as one of his courtesanâs.
âYour dress is lovely,â says the Princess Irulan when she sees you again after the food had been taken away and the party mills about in the Hall. She takes your arm and strolls with you between the bodies. The familiarity between you is striking. She speaks of her sisters, the planet she calls home. You tell her of your studies. It seems you share a fondness for the same authors.
Itâs odd to feel her warm smile. There were few women in your life. Maids mostly, though they rotated frequently. A few of the castleâs regular entertainers when allowed. You donât count the courtesans who keep your father company.Â
âPrincess,â Paul greets her with a bow, intruding on your talks of taking an excursion around the palace grounds. Those green eyes turn on you and sweep across your form. âMy lady, you look stunning.â He takes your hand again and bends to kiss it while you try not to flinch. âI hope Iâm not intruding.â
âNot at all,â Irulan says with more kindness than deserved. âWe were just making plans to visit the lake the day after tomorrow.â
The way his face lights up has your excitement plummeting. Heâs eager to join. You stay as long as you can stand his conversation. Itâs not long. You excuse yourself, claiming the need to check on the rest of your guests, and extract your arm from the princessâ. You accept a kiss on your cheek from her before disappearing into the crowd.
You have no desire to mingle more. Whatever consequences youâll face when your father finds out about you slipping out donât worry you. His anger would have found something to punish you for anyways. Cool air greets you as you step into the gardens. Itâs not your favorite place, but the training yard is too far in this getup.Â
âItâs rude to leave your own party.â
Hair raises on your arms, but you donât turn to the voice. âYou have my apologies for my rudeness then.â
âAnd it is unwise to keep your back to an armed man.â
âWhat fun is life without a little risk, na-Baron?â
He chuckles at that. Thereâs quiet footsteps as he paces behind you like a panther appraising a potential meal. You keep your eyes forward. âYou and the princess seem to have bonded quite quickly.â Heâs been watching you.
âShe is easy to be fond of.âÂ
Shadow swallows you as he steps behind you. Breath ruffling your hair he asks, âBut Paul Atriedes is not?â Heâs been watching you closely. A fingernail scraps down your bare arm. âDo you resent him for what heâs stolen from you?â
You spin.
The black void that is his smile is wide on his face. Humiliation sears your throat. How many people know of your fatherâs deepest shame? Feyd-Rautha seems to revel in that silent moment. Your pain brings him pleasure.Â
âI must return to my guests,â you say and step around him. His hand shoots out to grab your arm, but you're prepared. You evade, pull your arms taut to your chest, and dart down the hall as his laugh taunts. The respect you built with the Harkonnens was nothing more than delusion. It doesnât matter what teeth you bare or claws you present, any show of weakness will be exploited.Â
You round a corner and nearly crash into a guard. The same one from earlier. He questions if youâre hurt, eyes darting the corridor behind you. He seems to find nothing. You agree with his warnings now. Itâs best you donât wander alone.
You wake unrested. Images of blackened teeth, slicing blades, and hoarse laughter haunt you into the morning hours. Youâve made the decision to retain a personal guard. The choice in who is easy.Â
You spend the day reviewing everything for your coming of age in a couple of days. Your father is supposed to do it, but heâs nowhere to be found. Itâs tedious but the hours of distraction are welcome. And it gives you reason to decline Paulâs lunch invitation. Itâs only when the sun is past its peak that youâre forced to hand over the remaining duties to your grumbling father. The swordmaster demands your time to refine a performance you still canât rationalize. Who is it for?
Your father? A man who despises any display of femininity from you? The princess? In some attempt at an apology for a marriage that can now no longer be? Or House Atreides? The ones whoâd stolen your destiny before youâd been a seed in your motherâs womb? This artistry certainly isnât for the brutes of House Harkonnen.
The music halts half way through the fourth run. âYour timing is wrong,â the swordmaster says and has you begin again.Â
By time heâs satisfied, your legs burn and your patience is worn thin. You can only glower at your guard, Fandral youâve learned is his name, as he compliments the dance. âI like the story it tells,â he defends.Â
âThereâs not a story.â You massage the shoulder of your sword arm. The ache isnât unwelcome, but the cause is frustrating. The time would have been better spent actually training.
âAll art tells a story,â he says.
You scoff. âAnd whatâs the story? I go crazy and start fighting air?â
âYou can see it that way, but I think thereâs more nuance.â He eyes the girls as you hand off the swords as if expecting one of them to run you through. âItâs the story of a girl turning into a woman.â
A laugh erupts from you. Itâs a fitting story for your coming of age, at least. He tries to explain his reasoning. The symbolism of the first sword as the first menstruation, the second as the final years of youthful rebellion, and the end is the acceptance of the new role as a woman. You donât quite believe it.
Thereâs no dreams of black teeth or the bite of blades that night. This nightmare is of your mother. Her face unmoving. Silent as you scream. She never moves, but sheâs forever out of reach. Then sheâs gone and youâre left gasping in the dark alone.Â
âThis is beautiful,â Paul says in awe as he stares out over the lake.
Itâs difficult to not let every word out of his mouth annoy you. You remind yourself he didnât steal anything from you. His mother did. âYou should see it at sunrise.â
He tears his gaze off the water. âIâd like that.â He says it so earnestly you feel youâre missing something.Â
âAs would I,â Irulan says. You turn your head to look at her on your otherside, but her eyes remain focused on the scenery.Â
âAnd I,â the Harkonnen rasps in your ear.
His addition to the excursion had been as unexpected as it was unwanted. He didnât seem the type to enjoy a day by the water. Even now, heâs at odds with the world around him. His stark white skin and ghastly black clothes unsettling out amongst the colors. You doubt he truly wants to see the beauty of first light.Â
âAnother day,â you say. Itâs not a promise.Â
You only plan to stay for an hour at most, enjoying a light lunch under your favorite tree, but Paul asks about going out on the lake. Thereâs only a small canoe available on such short notice, but itâs enough. Irulan has no desire to get on the water and says sheâd prefer to ask Feyd-Rautha about the Spice harvesting on Arrakis. You arenât keen on leaving her with him, but she insists and thereâs guards to keep her safe.
Paul tries to play the gentleman and offers you his hand once heâs in the canoe, but heâs unsteady and nearly tips it over. You return his apologetic smile as you hear hoarse, barking laughter from the tree.
Heâs inquisitive as you row out of sight. About your studies, arts you partake in, foods you enjoy. He even asks about your favorite color. You try to respond in kind, but he doesnât leave you much time to catch your breath between answers let alone ask your own questions. Itâs frustrating but you smile and bear it.
âWhatâs that?âÂ
Blinking at him confused, you follow his gaze. A few meters from the shoreline was a small marble pavilion. Itâs overgrown with vines, graying from the accumulation of dirt and grime. Youâve forgotten it was here. It feels like thereâs cotton in your mouth when you speak. âJust an old pavilion.â
You let him take the canoe further for a while longer, before turning it back. You donât look at the pavilion when you pass it again. Itâs a relief to come back into view of the others. The canoe floats to stop beside the small dock. Fandral is there waiting, his arm extended. But Paul stands too quickly and the canoe sways. Your hand brushes Fandralâs outstretched one for a moment, but you tilt the other way and spill into the frigid water.Â
It's not deep. Once you have bearings youâre able to stand and your head breaks through the surface. You take in a deep, shuddering breath. Thereâs a commotion beside you. Paulâs head pops out and sprays more water in your face.
Someoneâs speaking, but there's a river flowing in your ears that makes it impossible to understand. It's a difficult walk to the dock. Your dress is heavy and the water slows your steps. An arm reaches out to you and you take it to help pull yourself up.Â
Feyd-Rautha stares down at you. Not with a smile. Thereâs no amusement on his face. There's something new in his eyes you donât recognize. It takes Fandralâs interference to release you from the intensity of his gaze. The guard shrugs off the jacket of his uniform and drapes it around your shoulders.
Irulan frets despite your multiple assurances youâre fine. It wasnât deep. There was no danger. Youâre wet, thatâs all. Paul apologizes over and over and over again. âIt was an accident,â you say in hopes of appeasing his guilt. You want Paul Atreides to leave you alone.

it's a story about hands (reprise)
Yeah, okay, today's the day.
I gave my blog that title for a reason, you know, and it has loomed over me for years because the hand motif is absolutely everywhere and you could go on about it forever.
Maybe that's something I'll never actually attempt to do, but this chapter, we reached a breaking point.
Before I continue, I need to give a big, big disclaimer: I do not have a physical disability, so I'm not able to speak about that from the standpoint of representation as a first-hand perspective. I have at least listened to enough disabled people to know that fictional characters who become amputees only to miraculously gain their limbs back is, um, a trope. Disabled people in general being "healed" is a conception we would really prefer to avoid here. Not to call people out, but I don't think we're giving enough space to acknowledge that.
I donât feel comfortable making the judgement call about what should happen. Iâm leaving that open. I also don't want to downplay people's emotional reactions. Honestly, I don't know if I can accurately define the line between acknowledging real pain vs. ableist pity. But Iâd like to talk about the possibilities of what could happen. Other characters have definitely gotten permanent disabilities as a result of their hero work, or even just the side effects of their quirk. But, for better or worse, I don't think this case is really about representation. Not that Horikoshi won't do that justice. He might. What I'm saying is that's not his purpose for having Izuku lose his arms. It's meant to be symbolic, so we can explore what it means. The other thing Iâm keeping in mind here is that Horikoshi is notorious for playing with our expectations, like, alllllll the time. I mean, just take a few chapters ago for a classic example. Eri appeared at the end, and we all assumed she was about to take some sort of action to save someone with her quirk. Then, immediately following, we were given an explanation for why that wouldnât be happening. And now itâs clear he wanted to do that âfake outâ not just as a silly cliffhanger prank, but specifically so we would know not to suspect that Eri could be the miraculous solution to Izukuâs loss of his arms. Rest assured, there is no easy way out of this.
The expectation at play in this particular instance is an old one. Itâs very understated, but its subtext has burned so brightly, youâd be a fool not to notice it. It sits with anticipation like one half of a call and response. Man, I was so certain. Lots of people still are. I was really looking forward to printing the panel where it happened onto a t shirt and wearing it proudly. All the hand motifs in this story radiate thematically from a single moment, the one that started it all for Izuku.
It raises all kinds of questions about the act of saving, who needs saving, why, what does it mean, what are the dynamics of power, politics, honesty, exploitation, compassion, pity, disdain, sacrifice. Katsuki has dealt with many of these since he first rejected Izukuâs hand. While Izuku was the one who was convinced Katsuki would keep on rejecting himâŠ
âŠKatsuki was the one who kept that moment in his mind all these years and eventually came to regret it.
Katsuki is the one yearning for that hand-hold, the one who has imbued it with so much more weight than it ever originally had. Izuku, in contrast, does not allow himself to dwell on what he wants. To illustrate this difference, we need to look at another piece of foreshadowing:
Ugh, do y'all remember when lots of folks were complaining about how there never seemed to be actual consequences for Izuku's destructive treatment of his own body? I don't blame them, I was concerned and confused about it too. There were several "fixes" along the way. Recovery Girl healed him, but left a physical reminder. Then he started training to fight with his legs⊠sometimes. Then he got support items. All of these were unsatisfying non-conclusions because they didn't present Izuku with a lasting enough impression to change in a meaningful way. They didn't address his core, his origin.
Of course, that all changed this chapter. Now it looks like our frustration was inflicted intentionally. With the current context in mind, all of these moments look more sinister, like this day was always gonna come because they kept putting bandaids on a deep emotional and psychological wound. The problem is pretty much spelled out for us here:
As Katsuki put it, he just doesnât take himself into account, ya know? He doesnât care what happens to him. And he lies about it, to keep others from worrying, to keep them safe. To keep them from returning the favor and putting themselves in harmâs way for his sake. His motivations are noble,
âŠbut what about the little boy inside Izuku? Who saves him?
This is all about Izuku giving himself up to the point that he literally has no more to give. The thing is, I bet he saw this coming. He knew his limits and decided to keep going anyway, because his personal safety and wellbeing are not important. Now that way of thinking has come back to bite him because the fight isnât over yet, and heâs already made his sacrifice. So now we know who will be more distraught over this. Not IzukuâKatsuki.
Itâs not about Izuku becoming disabled, itâs about how Katsuki wanted to use the intertwining of their fingers to communicate that he would never let go. Never stop valuing him most. Never let himself make the mistake of rejecting him again. Never let Izuku be so reckless with his life. To say: âwe are in this together.ââŠif only Katsuki believed he deserved to be able to say such things. To reach out his hand would have been the ultimate way to simply imply them and let Izuku be the one to decide. Then, to feel their hands clasped together would be more than either of them dared hope for, but so beautiful, so right. A moment theyâve waited their whole lives for.
Yeah. Thatâs what we were expecting. Weâve been so comfortable. Horikoshi gave us all the signs. He tempted and teased us over and over. BUT. You know he does this thing were he gives us a desirable, completely plausible and simple thing to look forward to, and then he snatches it away. And THEN he replaces it with something much better, something we were not expecting at all because it seemed too good to be true. Thatâs exactly what happened when Himiko snatched Izuku away, and we were robbed of the chance to see him and Katsuki fight together. In hindsight, though, Iâm glad things went a different way because now thereâs so much more depth and angst on display. Likewise, in the present moment, we may consider how, as one door closes, another opens.
As wonderfully meaningful as the hand-hold would have been, perhaps it is still too simple a resolution for Izuku, for his and Katsukiâs relationship. Tbh, it could have been done like 100 chapter ago. At this point, thereâs so much more potential. There are a couple of ways it could go. If Izuku stays armless, Katsuki will be forced to use other methods to get his point across. Heâll have to do something else, or say what he means, or both. Yes, Iâm talking about what you think Iâm talking about. If I say it, I just might jinx it (lol), but I mean it. Iâm being serious. Either way, if Izuku did get his arms back in the end, Iâm sure that it wouldnât be an easy fix. It would be hard-won against Izukuâs self-destructive mindset, and/or by Katsukiâs conviction. Again, I say this knowing it is not meant so much as a representation of disability, but as a representation of Izukuâs greatest character flaw taken to the extreme. I know this might sound harsh, like, hasnât he been through enough? I get that, but⊠Iâve said it before and I say it again: Izuku is stubborn as hell.
I wish I had a resounding final note to end this on, but I kinda donât. Iâm not sure whatâs best. Now we just have to wait and see what Horikoshi has in mind.

â„ Chapter Summary: Lost in the shadows of your despair, haunted by memories of the children you once saved, you find yourself drifting further from your purpose. But when a call from Chairman Netero breaks the silence, you're pulled back into a world you thought you'd left behind, drawn into the unknown for one last round â for the sake of saving a young man from making the same mistakes you did. â„
The church was still, bathed in the soft glow of flickering candles. You remained in the pew, feigning prayer, while your mind wrestled with turbulent thoughts.
But before you found yourself here, in this quiet sanctuary, there was a journeyâa path that led you back to the world you had once left behind.
âYou canât save them all.â
The words echoed in your mindâa truth you had grappled with for most of your life. So why was it so hard to accept that cruel reality? Why did you live your life the way you did? Most people would argue that they wish they had your power and skills. But they didnât understand. They couldnât comprehend the burden that came with such strength.
Why would anyone want to carry that weight for so long?
Power is a double-edged sword. If you arenât corrupted by it, youâre crushed beneath its weight. How easy it is to destroy rather than create.
You often wondered why Netero had chosen you that day. What did he see firstâthe helpless child who had lost everything or the Hunter who would grow into his greatest soldier?
You trailed behind the men, each step leading you deeper into the belly of this vile place. They had no idea you were not one of them, no clue that every word you spoke and every move you made was part of a carefully laid trap. The air around you was thick with malice, a foul concoction of despair, fear, and predatory intent.
Since taking the head of your familyâs killer, there has been a void in your heartâone you filled with vengeance.
But now, you had a new purpose: to use your power to hunt down the worst of humanity, like this network of mafia traffickers.
Suddenly, your senses sharpened. You heard itâa soft, muffled cryâthe children.
The group leader, a man with greasy hair and a twisted grin, laughed. âYou hear them, little rascals?â he sneered, gesturing ahead with a perverse pride. âGot a fresh batch of chicklings just yesterday. Innocent, full of life... worth a lot more in certain markets, if you catch my drift..."
A wave of revulsion swept over you, but you kept your face steady, fighting internally the burning in your throat.
Sick bastards. Thatâs all they were to you. There was nothing more vile than preying upon children, tearing away their innocence, and selling their pain.
Once, you had believed killing was always wrong. But when faced with monsters like these, death seemed like the only solution.
âThat shouldnât be a problem, right, Mistress?â The leaderâs voice was thick with expectation, his beady eyes studying you for any sign of weakness.
You met his gaze with a cold, calculated, calm one. âThe price is no problem, but Iâll need to see the âqualityâ of the children you speak of to ensure theyâre worth it,â you replied, playing along with his sick game. He grinned, his yellowed teeth bared like a predator sensing victory.
âOf course, my lady, right this way,â he said, gesturing for you to follow him up a rickety flight of stairs.
As you ascended, you noticed the tapes scattered on the floorâstacks of them carefully labeled and arranged. Your heart sank at the sight. You knew exactly what they were: recordings of abuse. Child pornography is waiting to be sold and distributed. Evidence of what these children had endured and what they were being forced to relive in the most horrific way possible.
Images of small, terrified faces pinned to the walls, some in tears, others with expressions frozen in fear, burned into your mind. You forced yourself to keep moving, to keep your eyes forward, your face blank. Every fiber of your being screamed for you to lash out, but you had to stay focused. You had to see this through.
When you reached the top, he led you to a door and pushed it open with a creak. Inside, the children were huddled together, wide-eyed and trembling. At the front stood a small boy with big gray eyesâ"The runt." of the group. His clothes were torn, dirt smeared on his cheeks, but there was something in his gazeâa spark of defiance that hadnât yet been snuffed out. The other children seemed to hover protectively around him, even in their weakened states.
âWell, what do you think of these little lambs?â the leader asked, his voice dripping with mock sweetness. âArenât they precious?â
You glanced at the children, your heart aching. For a split second, your gaze softened when you saw the small, porcelain-skinned boy, his eyes locked onto yours. He seemed to sense something in you, something different. You took a slow, steady breath, and without moving your lips, you mouthed, âIâm here to help.â
The boyâs grip on the bars loosened slightly. Hope flickered in his big gray eyes. You could feel the childrenâs fear and desperation mingling with a fragile thread of trust. They were so small, so fragile, yet somehow still fighting.
âThey are precious,â you murmured, your voice taking on a steely edge. âBut not in the way youâre thinking.â
The menâs laughter faltered. They sensed the shift, but too late. You moved swiftly, raising your hand. A wall of stone shot up from the ground, separating the children from their captors. Panic spread among the men as they scrambled for their weapons, but you were already moving.
With a flick of your wrist, a vine extended from the stone wall, and in its grip, a sword was handed to you. The blade flashed, slicing through the air. In one swift motion, you severed their hands before they could draw their guns. Blood spattered against the walls, and the men screamed.
âYou crazy biââ one of them began, but his voice was cut off as you grabbed his face. Nen flames flared from your palm, melting his skin. His screams turned to a hideous, gurgling cry as you slammed him against the wall, against a picture of him touching one of the children.
âMy flames are nothing compared to the ones youâll face for eternity,â you said, your voice cold and unwavering.
"THE DEVIL! YOU'RE THE DEVIL!" he shrieked, his voice cracking in terror.
âYOUâLL GO TO HELL TOO!â another screamed.
You tilted your head slightly, unbothered. âI know,â you replied calmly. âAnd Iâll be right there with you... to make sure you suffer.â
With a final, furious surge of nen, you let the flames consume him, his body twitching as the fire took hold. One by one, the men fell, their screams swallowed by the inferno of your rage.
The air thickened with the stench of burning flesh, but all you felt was a calm, cold satisfaction. You took a deep breath, letting the fire die down, leaving only smoldering ashes behind.
The floor was now slick with blood, staining everything it touched. You closed your eyes and focused, drawing on your nen, the energy that flowed through your very being. You felt a ripple within yourself, a gathering of moisture in your veins, pulling towards your fingertips. With a single thought, you summoned it forth.
20%
A small, shimmering blob of water began to form, hovering just above your palm. It glistened with a faint blue hue, infused with your nenâyour life force flowing through it. The water was more than liquid; it was an extension of your will, a manifestation of the purity and cleansing you desired.
You moved your hand slowly, and the blob expanded, reaching toward the crimson stains that pooled on the floor. It touched the blood, and a strange, almost serene reaction occurred. The nen-infused water seemed to drink up the blood, absorbing it into its depths, turning it from a crystalline blue to a dark, murky red. It quivered and shifted, gathering every last drop, until the floor was clean.
Once it was done, you flicked your wrist, and the blood-tainted water dissipated into steam, evaporating into the air. The scent of iron and smoke faded, leaving behind only the faintest whisper of moisture.
You turned to the vine still hanging from the wall. âTake the corpses to another room,â you said softly. âI donât want the children to see this.â
The vine extended, wrapping around the charred remains and dragging them away, leaving the room clear. You watched it go, feeling a pang of sorrow in your chest. âIâm sorry, Mother,â you whispered, âbut someone has to purge the evil, right?â
The vine nodded as if in understanding and vanished into the shadows.
With the room now clear, you lowered the stone wall, allowing the children to see. They were still huddled together, wide-eyed, trembling, but there was a new light in their eyesâa glimmer of hope.
You kneeled, using a tiny flame to illuminate the room gently. âYouâre safe now,â you said softly, your voice switching to a delicate tone.
The small, marble-eyed boy stepped forward. His hand slipped into yours, his grip surprisingly strong for his size. âYou back came for us?â he whispered, his voice shaking but resolute.
You nodded, squeezing his hand gently, a warm smile breaking through your hardened expression. âAlways.â
The children began to move toward you, timid at first, then with growing confidence, their small hands reaching out, seeking comfort. For now, at least, they were safe.
And you would make sure it stayed that way.
It was mostly your funding that kept the orphanages in Meteor City from crumbling. Your money was funneled into the broken, forgotten corners of the city where children like Chrollo and his friends sought refuge. You couldnât always be there, but when you were, you made it countâyour presence, your touch, your attention. That was the difference, wasnât it? You had to put your wealth somewhere, after allâunlike Ging or Pariston, whose fortunes seemed to disappear into the wind, chasing their whims. For you, though, Meteor City had become an escape, a place to atone for the things you couldnât control.
But it was more than duty, wasnât it?
Chrollo had bonded to you in a way that you hadnât expected. The other children admired you, but he worshiped you. His innocence clung to you, unsettling and infectious, dragging you into a world where, for brief moments, you almost believed you could be more than just a Hunter. That you could be someone who stayed.
It was one of those quiet, unguarded moments when you found yourself in Meteor City again, his small, frail body curled up against yours on his bed, his head tucked beneath your chin as if he could melt into your very being. His face pressed into your chest, and his small hands clung to your shirt as if you were his entire world.
âStay with me,â he murmured, his voice soft, pleading. His wide gray eyes blinked up at you, still so full of that childlike adoration that made your chest tighten painfully. He didnât understandâhow could he? He was too young, too innocent.
You combed your fingers through his shaggy, jet-black hair, pretending it didnât hurt to hear him ask. Pretending it didnât make you feel like you were betraying something inside yourself. The glow from the windowâthe familiar golden light of dawnâsignaled your impending departure. Mother Nature, it seemed, always knew when it was time to pull you away. You would have to leave again. You always left.
But not yet.
âOkay,â you whispered, the lie slipping from your lips like it always did. âIâll stay.â You tucked his head back against your chest, hoping to drown his fears in the safety of your embrace. He felt so small compared to you, so fragile. You held him tighter, but no matter how tightly you cradled him, you knew it wouldnât be enough. You couldnât stay.
He sighed, his words soft and filled with frustration. âI wish you were just a normal girl. Not the Great Hunter. They always take you away from me.â
The weight of his words crushed your chest. You swallowed hard, burying the guilt and sorrow that always surfaced in these moments. He was just a boy, after allâa boy who didnât know what it meant to live a life like yours. His love was simple, innocent, and untainted by the reality that you could never be what he wanted you to be.
He sighed again, his voice thick with sleep. âItâs not fair. Youâre just a kid like me, but itâs like... youâre not. Youâre stronger, taller... you have magic. Youâre not afraid of anything.â His sleepy eyes blinked up at you, half-lidded, his gaze lingering on your face as if you were the only thing keeping him from falling asleep. âYouâre so cool, Y/N.â
You forced a smile, your heart aching with every word. How could he say these things so easily, not knowing the storm they stirred within you? You shouldnât be here. You shouldnât be feeling this pull toward him, this unbearable conflict between duty and something elseâsomething darker, something you didnât want to acknowledge.
âI want to be strong like you,â he continued, his voice fading as sleep began to pull him under. âThen Iâll be the one to save you.â
You let out a chuckle, though it felt hollow. âOh really? I canât wait to see you try.â Your voice was soft and gentle, as if you could keep him safe from the weight of your feelings. But even as you spoke, your gaze lingered on his longer than it should have. The way his eyesâthose innocent gray eyesâheld yours made something inside you crack. You didnât want to look away.
And yet, you had to.
As Chrollo yawned, his body slowly relaxing into the warmth of your embrace, your heart clenched in that familiar, bittersweet way. You knew what was coming nextâthe moment when he would fall asleep, and youâd have to leave. You always left. He knew it too, even if he didnât say it. His eyes fought against the sleep pulling him under as if staying awake would keep you there just a little longer.
You should go. You needed to go. But instead, you held him close, brushing your thumb along his cheek, tracing the outline of his pale face. He murmured something so soft, so quiet, you almost didnât hear it.
âI love you, Y/N.â
Your heart shattered.
The words hung in the air between you, heavy and suffocating. You didnât respond. How could you? What could you say to that? You werenât supposed to feel this way. You werenât supposed to let it hurt. And yet, his innocent words cut deeper than any wound you had ever known.
You didnât respond. Instead, you cradled his face in your hands, letting the silence fill the space between you. Your mind and heart were at war, clashing violently as you tried to convince yourself that you felt nothing for this boyânothing beyond duty, beyond the role you were meant to play.
But his words lingered. His love lingered. And it was killing you.
Only you could carry this burden. You had to ensure that you were the last shepherd, even if you were just a broken saint now.
And when he called, you would answer, no matter how much time had passed since that harrowing incident.
Isaac Neteroâs familiar contact flashed onto your phone just as you returned to your quiet estate. The grand home, surrounded by vast lands, had become your sanctuaryâwhere time seemed to stand still. Bamboo trees swayed in the wind, whispering secrets you couldnât quite hear, and the rustle of leaves was like a lullaby to your broken spirit. This land, untouched and isolated, had become your refuge. Here, you could pretend the world had forgotten you, just as you had tried to ignore it.
You rarely needed to leave; everything you required, you grew with your own hands. The earth was rich and forgiving; the bamboo was tall and kind, your only companions, as well as the critters that inhabited the land, your only solace. They tried to aid in healing your scars, though they only made the loss more bearable. They connected you to reality, keeping you grounded and pulling you back from the edge whenever you felt yourself slipping away. They depended on you as much as you did on them.Â
But even Mother Nature, with all her quiet persistence, couldnât fill the gaping void left by your loss. She could only make the emptiness more bearable, less suffocating.
You had given in to the silence, but she hadnât given up on you. Yet the moment Neteroâs contact appeared, the corpse of your heart couldnât help but beat with a retired purpose you knew you could no longer fulfill.
Still, your hands, worn and deft, quickly picked up the phone, bringing it to your ear.
âY/N L/N. Think you have a chance to talk, my dear?â
His familiar, softened gruff voice was a reminder of how time had aged him, even though he had left you with so many unanswered questions. He was still your father in many ways.
But you were now Neteroâs little fallen general.
âIâm here,â you replied, your voice a ghost of itself, as if unused to forming words meant for anyone else. âIt's good to hear your voice. I would ask, How have you been?â
âI am well, Father,â you cut in, a weary undertone threading through your words. âTrying to keep the ground from swallowing me whole.â
A heavy silence fell between you, a shared history that neither of you wanted to address hanging thick in the air. Netero sighed, his voice dipping into a tone you had not heard in yearsâgentle, almost pleading.Â
âY/NâŠâ
You remained silent, unyielding, waiting for him to continue.
âListen to me, just this once,â he started, but you interrupted again, sharper this time, like a blade cutting through the fog.
âMy nen is gone, Isaac," you said, each word deliberate and hard. "Thereâs nothing more to that story. There is no Master of the Hunters anymore.â
The silence that followed was colder, heavier. You could almost hear him wince at the use of his first name, a name you rarely called him. You knew it hurt himâthat it stripped away the façade he liked to wear around you.
He hesitated, then took a deep breath, his voice laced with quiet desperation. âI'm not asking for her to listen to me,â he said carefully. âI'm asking for you, Y/N.â
Your gaze drifted to the bamboo outside, watching the stalks bend and sway in the wind. There was a part of you that wanted to hang up, to let the silence consume you once more, but another partâa faint, barely alive sparkâkept you on the line.
âThere is a young man,â Netero continued, âwho is the spitting reincarnation of you."
Your chest tightened, the ache spreading like a slow poison through your veins. You swallowed, but it felt like shards of glass in your throat.
Neteroâs voice softened, almost as if he were trying to soothe a frightened child. âI know I pushed you to retire early, and for that, I am sorry,â he confessed, his words heavy with regret. âI couldnât bear the thought of what might happen if the wrong people found out you had lost your nen. But this boyâhe needs someone who can show him the way. Someone who can give him a chance to choose a different path. A scent he can follow.â
He paused, the weight of his words settling into the air between you. âNone of us can do that.â
A flicker of frustration sparked within you, threatening to crack the numbness you had wrapped around yourself like armor. You closed your eyes, the familiar heaviness of duty pressing against your chest. "Why... why do you always drag me back, Isaac?" you murmured, your voice almost devoid of emotion, a whisper lost in the wind.
âBecause,â he replied softly, his voice steady but filled with quiet insistence, âyou lost your nen, but you didnât lose everything. I couldnât save you from your fate... but you can save him before he makes the same mistake.â
For a moment, the world outside seemed to be still. The bamboo stopped swaying, the wind held its breath, and even the critters paused their quiet movements. Everything waited for you to decide whether you would let yourself be pulled back into the life you had tried so hard to leave behind.
A slow exhale escaped your lips, and your grip tightened around the phone. Maybe it wasnât about saving yourself. Maybe it was about saving someone elseâjust one more time.
âIâll think about it,â you finally whispered, knowing you were already halfway convinced.
Netero's sigh of relief was almost inaudible, but you felt itâa soft echo in your chest. "That's all I ask," he said gently. "Just think about it."
And with that, the call ended, leaving you standing alone in the quiet of your sanctuary, the wind picking up again, the bamboo swaying once more.
For the first time in a long time, you felt the stirrings of something beyond emptinessâa faint, fragile thing that might have been hope.
You let yourself fall back against the mat, feeling the familiar, frayed edges pressing into your back. Your phone lay loosely in your grip, screen dark, but its weight still anchored you to the moment. You stared blankly at the stone pond before you, the water still and silent under the overcast sky. But inside, that gnawing feeling had grown stronger, louder, and more insistent. The doubt and emptiness you had tried so hard to bury now surged to the surface like a wave, threatening to swallow you whole.
Then you saw herâthe familiar, ethereal form rising from the pondâ"Mother," your nen-made spirit, tilting her head at you, trying to read the emotions you kept so tightly locked away. Her shape shimmered and wavered, the liquid surface of her body catching the dim light, reflecting a thousand tiny, dancing fragments of your surroundings.
âYouâre cruel...â you muttered, not bothering to lift your head. You didnât need to see her to know she was there, watching you with a concern you could not bear. The water spirit hovered closer, her presence radiating a gentle insistence. A wave of water reached out, almost like a hand, and as she moved, droplets broke away and splattered onto your face. The cool water trickled down your skin, obliging you to finally look up and meet her gaze.
Her expression was unreadable, but the tension in her form, the way her edges seemed to blur and tremble, told you everything. She was worried. She is always worried. Especially when you have attempted to end your suffering...
Seeing her like that... It only made the ache worse. It plagued you and gnawed at you like an open wound. You hated it. You hated feeling like thisâso useless, so empty. Once, you had been so certain of your place in the world, so sure of your purpose. You had moved like a blade through the darkness, cutting down every evil in your path. You had saved countless lives and fought battles that others had deemed impossible. You mattered.
And now... now it felt like all of that was gone. Stripped away the moment your nen vanished. When it had left you, it had taken everything with it. Your sense of self, your purpose, your reason for beingâit had all crumbled to dust, leaving nothing but a hollow shell behind.
"Quit it," you muttered, your voice low and tired. "I'm not in the mood."
But Mother didnât listen. She never did. Instead, she moved closer, her form rippling like a soft wave, the water elongating until it seemed to reach across the space between you. With a sudden, playful motion, she curled around your feet, a cold grip tightening around your ankles. Before you could protest, she yanked you off the mat, dragging you across the ground.
âReally?â You groaned, exasperation flaring. You knew what she was doing. She was trying to wake you up, to stir something inside you. âCut it out, Mother.â
She didnât respond. The water around your ankles tightened, and with another tug, she lifted you upside down, your hair falling toward the ground. The blood rushed to your head, and you blinked, momentarily disoriented. For a moment, you dangled there like a rag doll over the pond, your feet held aloft by a watery tendril.
You found yourself staring directly into her faceâor what passed for a faceâher liquid eyes focused intently on you, unblinking, unwavering. She was demanding your attention, forcing you to look at her to confront whatever was buried deep inside. The silence stretched between you, filled only by the gentle slosh of water moving with every slight motion.
âI said quit it,â you repeated, a hint of irritation in your voice. But she didnât budge. Her expression seemed almost stern. The water droplets that made up her body shivered slightly, as if she were speaking a language only you could understand.
Motherâs form shifted, her eyes narrowing slightly. Her head tilted again, and for a second, she almost seemed to frown. The water that held you up began to twist and turn, slowly spinning you in the air as if examining you from every angle. Her touch was cold, but there was something else thereâsomething gentle, almost comforting, beneath the chill. She wouldnât let you hide from this. She wouldnât let you sink back into the darkness youâd been wallowing in for so long.
âQuit it, Mother,â you muttered, voice strained, but there was no real fight in your tone. You were too exhausted to fight her, too tired to do much more than dangle there, your heart heavy and your purpose frayed.
Mother, ever persistent, moved the water around you in a swirl, as if shaping something from the depths of her core. You felt a coldness, a thin sheet of water sliding up to your face, and then you saw itâyour reflection mirrored perfectly in the water.
But Mother didnât stop there. Slowly, deliberately, she turned the reflection around.
Your eyes widened as you caught sight of your own back and your skin. The large, red Hunter symbol emblazoned between your shoulder blades, stark against your flesh, with the L/N family symbols woven underneath, bearing the phrase that had once given you strength:
"No child left behind."Â
The words, so familiar, stared back at you with a cruel clarity. Your vow, your creed. The promise you had whispered to yourself a thousand times over, in the darkest nights, in the quiet moments of despair. The very words you had once tattooed onto your skin were like armor against the world.
Your breath caught in your throat. You tried to look away, but Mother twisted the mirror slightly, making sure you couldnât escape it.
The reminder was as sharp as a blade, cutting through your excuses and your self-pity.
You were The Great Hunter, not because of the nen you wielded, but because of the promise you had made. Because of the innocent you had sworn to protect.
Mother watched, her watery eyes soft but firm, refusing to release you until the weight of that reflection settled back into your bones.
You sighed, a long, tired exhale, and for a moment, just a moment, you allowed yourself to feel the ache of that old purpose stirring within you.
She stared back, unyielding. Her watery surface rippled slightly, as if in response to your unspoken thoughts, and you felt a tear prick at the corner of your eye. A tear you quickly blink away. The silence stretched on, filled with everything you weren't sayingâfilled with all the things she knew you didnât want to admit.
You sighed, feeling the fight leave you, your shoulders slumping. âFine. Fine, you win,â you said quietly, feeling defeated, but in a way that almost felt like relief. She had always been there to stop you from corrupting yourself, always pushing you, always forcing you to face the things you wanted to ignore. And now, as much as you hated to admit it, you needed her to do it again.
You felt her release your ankles, and for a moment, you simply stood there, breathing, your heartbeat slowing, the cool air biting at your skin. She hovered closer, her watery hand reaching out as if to touch your face, but she hesitated, just a fraction of an inch away. You stared into her eyes, feeling something inside you break loose like a dam giving way.
You hated this... You hated feeling like you were nothing. Like you were just a vessel for the person you used to be.
Your Nen was gone, but you were still here. That gnawing, insatiable need to matter, to make a difference, was still there, burning quietly beneath the surface.
You took a breath, your fingers tightening around the phone still in your hand. "Alright," you whispered, almost to yourself. "Alright, I'll do it."
Mother seemed to shimmer, her form brightening slightly as if she were smiling. Her droplets swirled around you, a gentle, swirling dance of liquid light like she was encouraging you, cheering you on.
Your thumb moved over the phone screen, almost of its own accord, and you found Neteroâs name again, hesitating for just a heartbeat before you pressed the call button. The phone rang once, twice, and then his voice came throughâcalm but expectant as if he had known you would call back.
âY/N?â
You closed your eyes for a moment, steeling yourself, and then spoke, your voice steady. âWhere is he?â
You stepped off the airship, choosing to take a more grounded approach this time. It had been so long since you walked among society; today, you wanted to feel the earth beneath your feet and hear the noise of life all around you. Normally, you would have flown in on Khan, your Seraphridâa creature resembling a winged horse, only larger and more formidable, a loyal companion since your youth. But today felt different.
As expected, Khan had already beaten you here. His sleek, black form stood tall among the trees, his six powerful legs moving with an elegance that defied his size. His head was turned in your direction, and the two long, string-like antennae that served as his natural bridle extended, sensing your presence. They wrapped around your arm, their touch gentle but firm, syncing with the veins on the underside of your wrist. The bond was immediate, an ancient connection that required no words.
With a familiar pull, you mounted him, his raised hoof serving as a stepping stool, an unspoken offer only the two of you understood. You clicked your tongue softly, a signal youâd always used, and he responded with a low, rumbling neigh that resonated through your bones.
Khan didnât need instructions. He read your intentions through the link you shared, feeling the subtle shifts in your thoughts and emotions. He began to trot into the dense forest, guided by your thoughts alone, the rhythm of his steps matching the cadence of your heartbeat.
Netero had informed you that the young man, the one you were to meet, was training in these woods. He had given you the young manâs contact information, though he had been elusive with any real details. When you had pressed for more information, Netero had only chuckled, his words tinged with mystery: âYouâll see...â
Typical of him to leave you to uncover the truth on your own, to dig up the bone yourself, like always. As Khan weaved through the thick underbrush, you found yourself wondering about this boy. What was it about him that had made Netero reach out to you after all this time? What was so special that it warranted pulling you back into this world?
The dense forest began to thin, opening into a sun-dappled clearing. Khan slowed to a gentle canter, his antennae twitching as if sensing something ahead. You felt it tooâa presence, quiet yet intense, like a heartbeat echoing through the trees.
This had to be the place. As you dismounted, Khanâs gaze remained fixed forward, his body tense and alert. You patted his side, reassuring him, and he relaxed slightly, though his eyes never wavered from whatever lay beyond the clearing.
You took a deep breath, feeling the familiar stir of curiosity and something deeperâsomething that felt like the whisper of purpose reigniting within you. Stepping forward, you moved into the clearing, ready to meet the young man Netero had sent you to find, ready to face whatever awaited you on the other side.
You dismounted slowly, your feet sinking into the damp earth as the coolness of the soil crept up through your boots, grounding you in the present moment. The clearing before you stretched wide, dappled sunlight breaking through the thick canopy above, casting shifting patterns of light and shadow across the forest floor. The air was thick with the scent of moss and earth, a living, breathing presence around you. Khan stood tall beside you, his powerful form coiled with restrained energy, his antennae twitching in tune with the undercurrent of tension that rippled from you like a stone dropped in water.
Ahead, the low murmur of voices reached your ears, punctuated by the rhythmic clack of wood striking wood and the sharp rustle of leaves disturbed by quick, deliberate movements. You moved forward slowly, cautiously, each step bringing the sounds into sharper clarity. As you reached the edge of the clearing, you paused, taking in the scene before you.
Two figures moved with practiced grace, their forms entwined in a dance of combat, their bodies speaking a language of strength and discipline. One of them, tall and broad-shouldered, had a presence that radiated intensity and controlâIzunavi, a hunter you had known from years ago. His sharp, unwavering gaze and the calm precision of his movements marked him as a hunter, one who had taught countless others the art of survival.
But it was the boy who drew your attention.
He was younger than you had imagined, his golden hair catching the sunlight like a halo, his eyes narrowed in concentration, a fierce determination burning in their depths. His posture was taut, muscles coiled and ready, every motion calculated and precise as he mirrored Izunaviâs steps, his gaze never faltering, never leaving his mentor for even a heartbeat. His body moved with the grace of a predator, but there was a tension thereâa rawness, a desperation that was almost painful to watch.
So this was Kurapika.
Your breath caught in your throat. It was like staring into a ghost, a specter of who you had once beenâa younger self, with that same consuming fire, that same drive, that same reckless need to prove something to a world that had never shown mercy. You recognized the look in his eyes immediately. You had seen it in your reflection, in the faces of those you had saved and those you had failed. The beast of burden lay heavy in his gaze, the weight of vengeance familiar darkness that seemed to clutch at his very soul.
He was still a child. Just as you had beenâa child thrust into a world too cruel and too vast, carrying a burden too heavy for shoulders so young. You lingered in the shadows, your heart tightening in your chest, a sense of foreboding curling in your gut. Finally, you decided to step forward, your presence pressing through the air like a ripple in still water.
Izunaviâs movements stilled. He sensed you first, his eyes flickering toward you, his expression a mask of calm neutrality, though you saw the faint recognition behind his eyes. His stance eased, a subtle acknowledgment. Kurapika followed his gaze, turning to face you, and the intensity of his scrutiny hit you like a blowâa look so piercing it seemed to strip away layers, searching, demanding answers before he even spoke.
âMaster,â Izunavi greeted, his tone respectful but carrying a hint of something harder beneath. "Netero told me you might be dropping by."
"Y/N," you corrected, voice soft but firm. Each syllable felt heavy in your mouth, burdened by the memories of your past. You inclined your head slightly, stepping fully into the clearing, moving with purpose, though a knot tightened in your stomach. "Itâs been a while, Izunavi," you said, your voice sounding almost foreign to your ears. "I see youâve taken on another pupil."
Izunavi nodded. "One with a special kind of determination," he replied, a note of pride softening his otherwise stern demeanor. He glanced at Kurapika, who stood like a coiled spring, ready to snap. "Kurapika, this is Y/N L/Nâonce known as Master Hunter, The Great Hunter, the Hound of the Hunters⊠too many names to count."
Kurapikaâs eyes widened slightly at the sound of your name. Recognition flickered across his featuresâhis expression shifting from curiosity to something deeper, something darker. You could almost see the thoughts racing behind his gaze, the questions forming, and the curiosity and anger mingling in a storm of emotion.
Netero had left you a note from the first examiner of the 287th Hunter Exam: "Kurapika Kurta said he wishes to become a Hunter to exact revenge on the Phantom Troupe and seek aid from the Master Hunter." The Phantom Troupe, a name you had only heard in passing, a whisper of a threat, a gang too small to matter back then. But now, seeing Kurapikaâs face, you realize how much had changed and how much you had missed.
âWhere were you that day?â Kurapikaâs voice was low but steady, each word laced with a simmering rage that seemed barely contained. "I read stories about you... Master Hunter, the one who made crime vanish like mist before the sun. When my people were slaughtered, I didnât fear, because I knewâyou would come. You would hunt them down for me."
The pain in his voice was like a knife twisting in your chest. âI waited years for you! Held onto that hope until I had no choice but to become the hunter I needed.â
His voice cracked, but the fury within it did not waver. "You let them walk this earth after what they did to me... to my people." His hands clenched into fists, his knuckles white, his breath ragged. And then you saw itâthe flash of scarlet behind his gray contacts, the burning rage of his clan's curse, the anger and grief all mixed into one volatile storm.
A lump formed in your throat, and you swallowed hard against it. The weight of his accusation bore down on you like a physical force. In your absence, the world had shifted and twisted, and you had been powerless to stop it. You had lost your Nen that day, the day you had lost everything.
Thatâs why you werenât there.
The same beast of burden now latched onto him had once latched onto you. You had failed him, and his words cut deep into whatever was left of your fractured soul. If only you had known... If only you had hunted them when they were small, a mere whisper of a threat. If onlyâŠ
But you hadnât. And now you were facing the result of that failure.
Your silence hung heavy in the air. You felt the burn in your eyes, the sting in your throat, and the weight of every decision and every choice you had made that led to this moment. There was nothing you could say to erase the pain in his eyesâthe sense of betrayal that seemed to radiate from him like heat.
Kurapika's expression hardened, his jaw tightening, his eyes narrowing to slits. âI need justice,â he said, his voice colder now, like a blade drawn against a stone.
You drew a deep breath, fighting against the rising tide of emotion within you. âJustice is a fine line, Kurapika,â you replied quietly, meeting his gaze with a steady resolve. âAnd revenge can blur it until you donât know which side youâre on.â
His jaw clenched, his eyes burning with a mixture of fury and something deeperâsomething fragile and almost broken. He turned away, shoulders tense, his footsteps heavy, as if carrying the weight of the world on his back. A part of you wanted to reach out, to stop him, to pull him back from the edge. But you knew better than to force it. He had to find his way, just as you had.
âKurap-â Izunavi began, his voice edged with concern, but you raised a hand, silencing him. Your eyes remained on Kurapikaâs retreating form, watching as he disappeared into the trees, swallowed by the shadows.
âLet him go,â you whispered, the words barely more than a breath. "Iâll talk to him later... once heâs cooled off."
Izunavi hesitated but finally nodded, trusting your judgment. You stared into the forest where Kurapika had vanished, the weight of his words still heavy on your heart. You knew that if he continued on this path, it would lead only to more pain and more loss. You werenât sure you could bear to watch someone else descend into the same darkness that had swallowed you whole.
You had to try for his sake and yours.
âHow far is he in his Nen?â you asked, breaking the stillness. Izunavi turned, his expression solemn.
âHe's a determined, quick learner, but heâs already made those terrible vows for his Nen ability. Itâs been five months since he started, and heâs planning something for September 1st.â
Next month, you thought. Not much time. âIs it related to the Troupe?â
âPositive.â Izunaviâs response was immediate; his voice edged with tension.
You sighed deeply, feeling the familiar heaviness in your chest. Another lost child, another soul standing at a precipice. The memory of the children from Meteor City flickered in your mindâthose small, eager faces filled with both mischief and hope. Even now, you could remember the way they looked up to you, their eyes wide with wonder and something moreâsomething like belief.
Chrollo, Feitan, Phinksâall those troublemakers who had once felt like yours in some way despite being the same age. You had often wondered where they were now, how life had treated them, and if they had stayed on the path you had hoped for them. Maybe, when all of this was over, youâd find them again. Just to see. Just to know.
Izunaviâs voice pulled you back. âHis vows are monstrous, Y/N. I donât know what he sacrificed, but his chains are still out of control. Heâs powerful, but he canât command them yet.â
âChains?â You repeated, an eyebrow arching in surprise. âThatâs his ability?â
Izunavi nodded gravely. âYes. He wants to bind the spiders to hell with them.â
A small, amused laugh slipped past your lips, as that did sound like something he would say. Then your expression turned serious. âIzunavi⊠Iâve lost my Nen. If I decide to teach this boy, will you be my eyes?â
Izunavi blinked, momentarily stunned, but he quickly nodded, his gaze steady and filled with a new understanding. âI will,â he promised softly. âBut... are you ready for this?â
You took a breath, the weight of your own words settling within you. âI wasnât Neteroâs best hunter just because of my Nen.â
You could still feel Nen, even Motherâs Nen whenever she came to you, like a whisper at the back of your mind, a gentle reminder of the power that once flowed through you like a river. You hadnât lost your instinctsâif anything, losing your Nen had sharpened them. It was like losing a sense and gaining another. You could feel things now, in ways that other Nen users couldnâtâlike sensing the shift in the air before a storm.
Izunavi hesitated for a moment, then spoke again, his voice a little softer, a little more unsure. âY/N, you can do it? Teach him? With your Nen goneâŠ?â
You looked at him, a small smile playing on your lips. âI can.â
Izunavi seemed to consider your words, then nodded again, more firmly this time. âAlright,â he said. âIâll be your eyes.â
Your gaze drifted toward the direction where Kurapika had stormed off, your thoughts tangled with the past and the present. You knew the path he was onâyou had been there yourself once. And you didnât want Kurapika to stain his hands as you had stained yours, even if it was for what you believed was âgood.â
If you could help him find another wayâif you could keep his hands clean, you would. You were willing to stain yours all over again for the sake of keeping him from the blood that had already marked too many lives.
You had to operate in his shadow. Teaching Kurapika while also trying to beat him to the Phantom Troupe would be no easy taskâespecially if you had to do it behind his back. There was still so much you didnât know. The years you spent disconnected from society left gaps in your knowledge. You couldnât deny it, and the thought made you clench your fist. At least you could still rely on the physical strength of the L/N bloodlineâbut even that might not be enough. What if the Phantom Troupeâs Nen abilities were stronger than you anticipated? If they were all together, no matter how much experience you had, they could easily overwhelm you by sheer numbers.
What if you couldnât protect Kurapika? The thought sent a shiver up your spine.
This was a mess just waiting to explode.
Izunavi watched you quietly, sensing the shift in your mood, the old scars being reopened, and the new purpose forming in your heart. You felt the stirrings of a familiar resolveâa quiet, burning fire that refused to go out.
âLetâs start now,â you said, meeting Izunaviâs gaze with a calm but determined look. âWe have until September 1st. I wonât let him fall.â
You followed Kurapika as the sun began its slow descent, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink. Shadows lengthened, and the woods grew quieter, the sounds of the day's creatures giving way to the nightâs. You had given him timeâenough time, you hopedâfor his anger to cool and for his heart to steady. But you knew that the embers of rage didnât die so easily; they could smolder for a long, long time.
You found him near the lake, sitting against a tree with his knees pulled up, his blonde hair catching the last rays of sunlight like threads of gold. He stared blankly ahead, lost in thought, his face a mask of quiet resolve. You watched him for a moment from a distance, letting your presence be felt without imposing yourself. You knew words wouldnât be enoughânot yet, not for a boy with a fresh wound.
Slowly, you made your way toward him, moving carefully and deliberately, leaving space for him to turn you away if he chose. He didnât look at you, but he didnât push you away either. That, in itself, was something. You took a seat beside him, leaving enough distance between the two of you to let him feel unpressured but close enough that your presence was felt. You let the silence stretch, understanding that sometimes it was the only thing that could truly speak.
After a while, you finally broke the silence, your voice soft, almost tentative. "You want to hunt the Troupe, right?"
Kurapika didnât move at first, his eyes still fixed on the water. When he finally spoke, his voice was quiet but resolved. âI donât have a choice.â
The words hung between you, heavy with finality. You have heard that before, spoken in different ways by different people. It was always the same. A choice made in desperation, when the soul felt trapped by the past, by the need to correct something that could never truly be fixed.
âYou always have a choice,â you replied softly, your tone neither reprimanding nor coddling. It was simply a statement of fact.
Kurapika shifted, his hands tightening around his knees. âNot when it comes to this. Not when it comes to them.â
You glanced at him out of the corner of your eye, studying the lines of tension etched across his young face. He was still so youngâtoo young for this kind of rage to live so deeply inside him. But rage wasnât something that cared for age, wisdom, or even reason. You knew that better than anyone.
âThey took everything from me,â he continued, his voice harder now, laced with bitterness. âEverything. My family, my home, my future. I canât just let that go!â
You exhaled slowly, a quiet sigh that was lost in the soft rustle of the wind through the trees. âLetting go doesnât mean forgetting,â you said gently. âIt doesnât mean forgiving either. But this path youâre walking... Itâs not just about revenge anymore. Itâs about who you become at the end of it.â
Kurapikaâs eyes flicked toward you then, sharp and wary like he was expecting a lecture heâd heard a thousand times before. But you werenât here to preach.
âIâm not asking you to stop,â you clarified, your gaze still on the water, the gentle waves reflecting the dying light. âI know thatâs not an option for you. But you need to be careful, Kurapika. Rage has a way of consuming everything in its path. Itâll burn through you if youâre not careful. Until thereâs nothing left of the person you used to be.â
He was silent for a moment, absorbing your words. The tension in his body hadnât lessened, but there was a flicker of something in his eyesâuncertainty, perhaps. Or maybe it was understanding.
âI can control it,â he said, his voice quieter now, but the determination in it was unmistakable. âI have to.â
You nodded slightly, acknowledging his resolve. âControl is important. But you also need balance. Power without purpose is dangerous, even to yourself.â
Kurapika frowned, his lips pressed into a thin line. âPurpose? My purpose is to kill them.â
You turned to face him fully then, your eyes locking onto his. âAnd after that? What happens when theyâre gone? Whatâs left for you?â
The question caught him off guard. He opened his mouth, but no words came out. For a moment, the hard façade he had built around himself seemed to crack, and you saw the lost boy beneath. A boy who had lost everything and didnât know how to live without his hatred to guide him.
âThatâs why Iâm here,â you continued, your voice softening. âIâve walked this path before. I know where it leads. If youâre not careful, youâll reach the end of it and find that nothing is waiting for you on the other side. Nothing but emptiness.â
Kurapikaâs hands slowly unclenched, his fingers tracing the edge of his sleeves as if grounding himself in the present moment. He didnât say anything, but you could see the conflict in his eyes.
You reached out then, gently placing your hand on his shoulder, a rare gesture of comfort. âIâm not saying this to stop you,â you said, your voice low, almost a whisper. âBut I am saying you need to think about what comes next. After the bloodshed. After the vengeance. What will you be left with?â
Kurapika lowered his head, the weight of your words sinking in. The silence stretched between you again, but this time it wasnât filled with tension. It was a moment of quiet reflection.
âI donât know,â he finally admitted, his voice barely audible.
You gave a small nod, squeezing his shoulder lightly before pulling your hand back. âThatâs okay. You donât have to know yet. Just... donât lose yourself in the process.â
For a long moment, Kurapika didnât move, his gaze fixed on the ground, deep in thought. When he finally looked up, there was a new clarity in his eyes, though the fire still burned there, too. He wasnât ready to let go of his vengeance, but at least now he was starting to see the danger in letting it consume him completely.
âIâll keep that in mind,â he said, his voice steady but quieter than before.
You nodded again, satisfied for now. It was a start. He would need time to fully understand what you meant, but at least the seed had been planted. And as much as you wanted to protect him from the pain of the path he was walking, you knew he had to walk it for himself. All you could do was guide him along the way.
As the last traces of daylight disappeared from the sky, you stood up, brushing the dirt from your pants. âCome on,â you said, offering him a hand. âLetâs head back before it gets too dark.â
Kurapika hesitated for a moment before accepting your hand, pulling himself up to his feet. He stood beside you, his gaze lingering on the horizon for just a moment longer before he nodded, turning to follow you back toward the camp.
As you walked side by side, the soft sounds of the night surrounding you, you couldnât help but glance at him, the weight of the future heavy between you both.
The journey was far from over...

Disclaimer: These readings are not professional, I use my intuition + tarot and a translator because English is not my native language! Choose the pile that resonates with your intuition â„ïž you can choose more than one if you like. Your partner have neutral pronouns! sorry if some paragraphs are longer than others!

-
Pile 1:
Knight of wands, 6 of swords reversed, Temperance
They like to live adventures and are impulsive. Furthermore, they like stimulation, although one must be careful as they have unresolved issues from their past which can cause difficulties. However, they are still able to remain calm and find harmonious solutions when problems arise in the relationship since they are capable of putting themselves in your place.Â
"With you, chaos is ordered in harmony"
Pile 2:
9 of swords, the hermit, the empress reversed
They are a very lonely and anxious person. Additionally, they are quite shy initially. Furthermore, it is difficult for them to integrate into groups as they do not easily express their feelings. Instead, they are someone quite reflective who thinks a lot before acting. Gradually, they will start to open up emotionally, though they do this with only a few people.
"Resolve with your tenderness my secrets"
Pile 3:
3 of swords reversed, the devil reversed, 8 of cups reversed
They are mature and, while they had ex-partners before, they have overcome them and are ready to commit to a relationship. Specifically, they have accepted their pain and want to move forward. Namely, they know that being in a relationship is not easy but they will do their best to make it prosper. Notably, they demonstrate a lot of security and dedication to the couple as they are not afraid of commitment for a worthy cause. Essentially, they have freed themselves from many things and do not flee from conflicts, instead, they are willing to face everything so that the relationship succeeds.
"What used to tie me down no longer stops me, my heart is yours"
Pile 4:
King of cups, king of wands, the sun
They are a very compassionate, sensitive and happy person. In addition, they dedicate a lot to the couple and can understand the feelings of others. Also, they are very fun and dynamic. Moreover, they are meticulous and spread their good mood to people around them. Likewise, they are good at giving advice to people and have a lot of leadership presence as they radiate light and warmth.
"With you, life taste like colors"
