HI sorry for confusion we're not Turkish, we're Bulgarian and taking Turkish in school (cause one of those languages is a lot easier for a monolingual English speaker in the US to learn than the other haha) 😔
But our phone is like 50% Turkish cause we're nerds and like the language lol
hii!! all good and thats so cool!!!

I've gotta say I'm not a huge fan of putting Dragonese into the HTTYD movie franchise. The concept of a full-on dragon language they all share, that can just easily be translated into English, just really doesn't fit imo
I imagine they're a lot more like Orcas
Tumblr media
There are universal ways to communicate with strangers of different species, like it's pretty easy to signal things like "i want to fight you" "i want you to leave" "it's dangerous here" "i'm in pain" etc. by just body language and vocalizations- but ways to communicate more complex ideas have to be developed and learned as unique dialects by different groups, especially flocks of dragons consisting of different species.
I imagine a terrible terror flock or a group of Speed Stingers have a lot of an easier time communicating with each other than a Thunderdrum and a whispering death do.
Dragons with their own dialects, cultures, and habits depending on location and group is really cool- I just don't think it should be a direct translation of how humans do these things, such as straight up language or mythologies or such.

I think S6 should have Adrien show more of his British side and let him Brit tf out... Mr. Brummie Agreste.
Adrien: "That's bostin, Marinette!'
Marinette: "What?"
Chat noir: "Tara-a-bit, M'lady!"
Ladybug: "What the hell is going on...??"

Something something Decepticon recruitment (+physical exam) yada yada putting my Malay twins headcanon to good use and making names (and a non-typical matrilineal last name as opposed to a patrilineal last name) for them :P
Old fanfiction as well as echo chambering myself I have got some headcanons in my mind that do not make surface level sense but have Syakir and Darwesh bin Kalsom!
#skyquake#tfp skyquake#dreadwing#tfp dreadwing#transformers#tfp#humanformers#fanart#look look look- i used [western] sources for names because i'm in [english majority country] and maybe can't get a good list of names#especially not knowing whether they're authentic or not :P any malaysian folk in the chat do forgive me#eitherway- i did at least try to find what the sources claimed the origins of the names were#from my understanding syakir is the malay (and indonesian) form of arabic and urdu shakir (which means thankful but i that didn't matter)#darwesh is the hindi version of darwish which is an old persian but also malay name that i actively chose to make hindi#(because i wanted to hear how it was pronounced but since i didn't have the script version the only way i could hear it was the hindi way)#and kalsom for a character that only exists in my head is the malay and urdu form of the arabic kulthum meaning full-cheeked/beautiful#again- my outsider understanding of the names mostly as a way to kinda brute force the terms skyquake and dreadwing into malay forms#it was really funny looking for dreadwing's human name a lot of them that i could find ended up being versions of david haha#one of them was i think dawoud (which i think was muslim)#it did make me shudder that if dreadwing anglicized his name he'd be david so i hopped the train to darwish/darwesh#which is more technically darvesh give or take dialects so no wumbo here#which btw skyquake ends up being right about the callsigns- human dreadwing hates that his callsign is DREAD wing- skyquake loves his tho :

I thought my accent deafness wasn’t so bad anymore… I was wrong. The whole conversation between Gwen and Brett I kept thinking “huh, he has an interesting accent. Can’t quite place it tho” ITS FUCKING AMERICAN

Wanna learn urdu/hindi?
I have some pretty common use phrases used by every married couple from the north of the south of the east
These are called taane (taunts) and to taunt someone is called "taane marna"
1. Khaana teyaar hai, invitation bejoon?
The food is ready, do you need a formal invitation 🙄 (sarcasm)
2. Bas ab chutti karo/ shabash ab chutti karo
Its time for a break 🙄 (jab/impatience)
Or more closely: ok now wrap it up/ wonderful, now wrap it up
Basically saying "are you done yapping yet?"
3. Sir pe rakh do/ sir pe rakhoon?
Put it on my head/ should I put it on my head? 🙄 (sarcasm)
Often response to "where should I put it?" Or when something is given with no handling instructions. "What should I do with it? Put it on my head?"
4. Aanken phaad ke kya dekh rahe ho?
What are you looking at with those wide eyes? 🤨 (judgmental/ confrontational)
Basically saying "tf you looking at huh?"
5. Ghar ka rasta bhool gaye the?
You forgot the way home? 🙄 (sarcasm)
This is said when someone comes home late
6. Mujhe kya pata, main to bas mehmaan hoon yahan
How would I know? I'm a guest in this house 🙄 (sarcasm)
This is said by the partner that isn't being consulted/is being ignored for joint decisions
7. Main to bas tumari seva karne ke liye paida hui thi (f) / Main to bas tumari seva karne ke liye paida hua tha (m)
I was born just to serve you 🙄 (sarcasm)
When someone feels like they do all the work without appreciation (household work)
8. Aapka to baap ka raaj hai na
This isn your father's kingdom, isn't it 🙄💀 (sarcasm/confrontational)
Usually said when one partner is being authoritative or making too many decisions or not doing housework

I think for me the thing I struggle with re: saying that the apocalypse is a certainty in the ElysiumVerse™️ is like… idk how to explain it other than for me it’s sort of similar to looking at things through a Doylist vs Watsonian lens even tho that’s not quite it. Yes, Sacred and Terrible Air takes place 22 years after Disco Elysium in the world of Elysium and the world ends. Yes, Disco Elysium makes references to the events/timeline of PJÕL. They are the same canon etc etc. But for me I still always come back to “I need you. You can keep me on this earth. Be vigilant. I love you.” “You could say we believe it because it’s impossible.”
It is literally impossible to argue that the world isn’t going to end which is why I have to believe that there’s a way to prevent it. U know? Because the Pale is the manifestation of nihilist acceleration and the only thing that keeps it at bay is belief in something else. “You are the miracle.” Etc. The only way to save the world is to first operate under the assumption that it can be saved. Be vigilant. Or whatever.

Book recommendation for yall! Found this in the library and checked it out bc I was a curious. It’s a really interesting look at the lives of women in the UK and the lesbian community, and has lots of chunks of stories from the various folks who were interviewed
The stories are very honest and very interesting! It has a lot of different answers to questions such as “how do people conceptualize themselves when they don’t have the language to do so” and is super insightful, I think a lot of it is applicable to non-UK folk as well
If your local library has it, definitely give it a read!
