kiss with a fist [ii]
"Blood sticks, sweat drips, break the lock if it don't fit, a kick in the teeth is good for some, a kiss with a fist is better than none"
===+++===
pairing: tara carpenter x reader
summary: you signed up to help tara with her stupid plan. not whatever the hell one would call this.
warnings: implied sex, use of alcohol, puking, arguing loudly and wrongly, curse words(?)
word count: 5.2k
A/N: sorry to make you wait so long, but here's the second part. there will probably be a third, so fear not, the story doesn't end here. i originally thought i would be able to just end it off right here, but it’s going kind of really well and i think a third or maybe even a fourth part is more reasonable

Tumblr media
===+++===
For almost the entire walk to the frat house, Tara didn't actually say much. It surprised you too, the way she just glanced around the city that passed as you walked and fiddled with her nails. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, but you were so used to Tara having something to say that it made you speak instead.
"Wow, for once, you're speechless," you commented as you passed under a streetlight. Tara shot you a glare, shoving her hands into her jean pockets.
"Would it kill you to shut the hell up?"
“There we go, back to normal. Why are you being weird?”
“I’m not being weird,” she scoffed. “Mind your own business.”
"I'm just saying."
"Well don't say. Don't say."
===+++===
The party fucking sucked. It was quintessential college, with frat boys who attempted to yell over the loud music that rattled your eardrums. Coolers upon coolers of shitty, cheap beer sat against the far wall, and a crowd had gathered around them to pick off all the free alcohol they could. Maybe a year ago this would’ve been fun. Now you found yourself disenchanted with the ordeal.
Tara was off god knows where, doing god knows what, which you figured was the point of the arrangement anyway. You weren’t too concerned with tracking her down, especially if situation also presented itself as a pleasant bonus— not having to put up with her.
Chad had wandered out of the room when he saw you and Tara arrive together hand in hand, going deeper into the party without a word. He was usually the one you hung around with at these kinds of things, but he had been a sad little dog with his tail between his legs since you and Tara announced you were meant to be a few days before the party. It seemed some of your friends were still adjusting.
The immediate reaction after Tara said “soooo, we’re together,” was to laugh, like you two were doing a bit. It got less funny when they saw you both blankly staring back at them and then Tara grabbed your hand and held it up with a forced smile.
The whole group was going through a somewhat awkward seven stages of grief thing. Chad was avoiding you completely, Quinn was a bit annoyed you were off the market now after an egregious few months of hitting on you, and Ethan was the only one to be a bit normal, even though it was clear he too had a crush on Tara and was disappointed with the matter.
When Mindy had gotten over her disbelief, she dove right into an endless game of questions, only occasionally staved off by Anika. "So who confessed first?" had been one of the first ones, accompanied by a glint in her eye. Tara jumped in before you could even open your mouth, eager to answer.
"(Y/n) showed up on my porch, all sweaty and disgusting looking, just smelling so unbelievably bad it was overpowering-”
“I had been working out,” you rolled your eyes. “That’s why I was sweaty."
“Mhm, whatever. Anyways, apparently they were just being such an asshole because they were in love with me," Tara said, with a wide, shit-eating grin. "Right?"
You had to hide your glare behind your solo cup. "Mhm. I was just overflowing with it. I have so many things to say about you."
“All nice things,” Tara corrected.
“Yeah. That’s what I said.”
“Was it?”
“Uh huh.”
Mindy’s questions followed you everywhere she did. Who kissed who first? Who’s more cuddly? Have you guys slept together yet? They volleyed back and forth and you and Tara fought for the first word each time to pin it to the other with gleeful sadism. Of course, it was then flipped around once the next question came and you would huff in annoyance at the other for being an asshole.
It wasn’t as bad of an arrangement as you had dreaded. You only had to be couple-y when other people were watching you two interact, or when Sam would glare in suspicion. Hold hands a few times, smile, share a glance. Other than that, things stayed mostly the same. The group probably appreciated you both not acting head over heels for the other and you liked it because it meant you didn't have to pretend to like her.
Tara had a brazen way about her that made you roll your eyes. She never took no for an answer, had a teasing remark for anything, and always felt the need to be doing something. Other people seemed to find themselves charmed by it. Others, but not you. Never you.
The walk there had been about all she could take of your personality, and the moment after you two were seen together, she ditched you at the door and wandered off to the dance floor. After that you had lost track of her, and ended up splitting your time between the kitchen, the bathroom, and the front room, away from the crowd. Mindy found you there, tugging Anika along with her.
"Cut the bullshit," She said with an eye roll, sitting right down on the couch in front of you. Anika plopped down next to her. "There's no way in hell you got together with Tara."
You grinned, sipping your beer and partially using it to block your expression. "No, we're together. I really like her."
Mindy scoffed. "You're a terrible liar." Your cheeks warmed and you tilted your head to the side.
"We have to separate you two like warring chihuahuas every time we hang out together," Anika said. She leaned forward and narrowed her eyes in a study of your face. "You're not confessing your undying love."
"I did."
"You didn't!" Mindy said, and she threw up her arms.
"I did."
"You didn't," Anika snorted.
"I...," you looked at them both, "...are you guys going to snitch?"
"Snitch to who?" asked Mindy. Now they were both leaned in, like eager children around a campfire. You swallowed.
"Sam." Mindy blinked. Then she sat back.
"What the hell did Tara get you involved in?" she asked. As much as Sam was part of your group, it was known not to fuck with her, and that's exactly what Tara was making you do.
You frowned. If anyone was going to ruin the plan, it probably wouldn't be Mindy or Anika. "You can't tell Chad, but we're not actually together."
Anika raised her eyebrows and shot Mindy a glance. "That didn't take a lot of brain power to figure out." You shrugged.
"Well, we fooled Sam. Tara needs a fake partner so she can go to parties and see people and stuff. And, well, you know how Sam is about that stuff."
Mindy crossed her arms. "And you said sure?"
You shrugged. "I mean, I didn't really see why not. Plus, she was being super annoying about it. Showed up at my house. She was begging, almost."
"So, you what, took pity?" Anika asked, giving you a look. You rolled your eyes.
"Trust me, it's not because it's fun. She's way too annoying and she'd probably say the same thing about me."
Mindy frowned, looking out the doorway and into the booming party. "Chad wouldn't like it."
You sent her a worried look. "Please please please, don't tell Chad. I know he's upset by the whole thing, but Sam would literally kill me if she knew I was helping Tara run around town."
"I don't know...," she said. "I know Tara wants freedom, but this is kind of bullshit, (Y/n)."
"It won't be for long. She just wants to meet someone. When she does, it's over. Life goes back to normal."
"Do you guys have a target in mind, or something?" Anika asked, a bit amused.
"Not even a little a bit. It’s like, her second party ever,” you shrugged. “I don’t know if she’s really dead set on a person yet.”
“Well… she better figure it out soon.”
“Mhm.” You looked out the same glass door and into the booming party outside. Through the jumping crowd, you could see in the distance Tara, who was dancing with her eyes shut and a smile spread wide across her cheeks. She looked happy like that.
You took a swig of your beer.
===+++===
The boom of a fist on your door shook the thin walls of your apartment, and you jolted awake to hear three more hit the wood.
“OPEN UP (Y/N), NOW!”
Immediately, a headache washed over you and you groaned. You tried to smush your head into the pillow to make it go away but there were the banging fists again, and you sat up, letting your legs dangle off the edge.
“OPEN THE FUCK UP,” came the voice again, and you blinked. Oh shit. You knew that voice. You clambered to your feet and stumbled out your bedroom and down the hall in a dusty pair of shorts and shirt. “I’M NOT KIDDING! OPEN THE—”
You pulled the door open like a deer in headlights, seeing Sam seethe on the other side with her fist raised. Nostrils flared, forehead creased, eyes narrowed. She looked about ready to rip your head off.
“You,” she said, spitting the word. You flinched. “Where the fuck is Tara?!”
Shit shit shit shit shit. Had she not gone home the night before?? Things felt a little bit fuzzy still. You remembered grabbing another beer from Ethan and flopping down in an armchair, then another and another, and then maybe wandering home while the sun started to rise. Had you seriously lost track of the attempted murder victim on her first night out???
You blinked, already aware that your cheeks were a dusty pink. "I, uh... she, um..."
Her hands went to her hips, glaring at you expectantly. "Well?! Where the hell is my sister?!" When you were still staring like an idiot, she threw up her arms. "I fucking knew I shouldn't have trusted you with her! This is what I get"
You stared, feeling a lie (though probably a clunky one) come to your brain. "I think her phone must've died, but she just left."
Sam's eyebrows rose, but you weren't sure if it was in disbelief or even more rage. "What do you mean?"
"We, um," your eyes went to the floor, feeling her glare laser itself into you as you spoke. "We got super drunk last night at the party, and I brought her back here and we both fell asleep," you looked back up to see her giving your pyjamas a once over, nose wrinkled. You flushed. "No! No— we didn't do that. We just fell asleep."
Sam looked at you for a moment, then crossed her arms. "I waited all night for her, you know," she said.
You nodded. "I know. I'm so sorry, it won't happen again."
"It won't." Sam repeated. "When I don't hear from her for a whole night, you know what I assume happened, right? You know how that feels?"
You swallowed. "I do."
She sighed. "I'm really trying here. I know she doesn't want me worrying about her, and I know she wants freedom. So I'm trying, (Y/n). Don't make me regret it."
"I won't, Sam." It felt like a giant wedge in your throat, and you tried to smile at her but she continued to frown, and she turned around and walked off. The moment she was gone, you spun around and slammed the door. You dashed through your apartment, grabbing your phone off your nightstand and quickly pulling up her contact.
Little Shit (do not pick up). You pressed the button and put it up to your ear, wandering over to the nearby curtain and lifting it to look out onto the city. "Come on, come on," you pleaded aloud. "Fucking pick up, asshole."
After the third ring and a good prayer to god even though you weren't especially religious, it stopped ringing and you could hear her grumbling.
"Tara??" you rushed. "Tara, where are you?"
"Mmm," she groaned, "the hell do you want so early?"
You scoffed. "Tara it's almost noon." There was a pause on the other end of the line.
"What?"
"Uh huh," you grunted. "Your sister just almost ripped my door off it's fucking hinges because she doesn't know where you are. And you know what, neither do I!" There was some shuffling from her end, and then what sounded like running footsteps.
"I went home with this girl last night, I just woke up," she rushed. "Sam is going to kill me!"
"She almost killed me!" You almost yelled into the phone. Now that the worry had subsided you were left with anger. "She almost killed me because you wandered off and didn't go home."
"It's not like I meant to fall asleep," she argued back, and you could hear some talking in the background in faint voices. "I must've slept through my alarm— wait, what did you tell Sam?"
"That your phone died, and you were on your way home."
"WHAT?! (Y/n), this girl's apartment is at least fifteen to twenty minutes away," Tara said into the phone.
"Well it's not like I knew that, now is it?" you shot back, scratching your arm, "considering I didn't know if you were even alive until you picked up."
"God, not you too. I'm fine, drama queen."
"Drama queen?"
"Yeah, drama queen," Tara repeated, and more noises flooded in. It sounded as if she was in the city now, walking, "you sound just like Sam. I picked you because I thought you knew I didn't need a babysitter."
"That's not being babysat, Tara. That's making sure you're not dead," you rolled your eyes.
"Well, I'm not."
"Good."
"Great."
"Fine!" you shot back.
"Awesome."
You sighed into the speaker. "Pick up some flowers or something on your way back. Claim that's why you're late."
"Good idea, actually," Tara hummed.
"I know." And you hung up.
===+++===
You found yourself at an identical party the very next Friday night too, and the Friday after that, and after that too. The walls were just as stained. It smelled just as full of mold. This one didn't have a front room for you to barricade in, so you sat at the bar top instead, in the kitchen with your chin rested on the cool granite.
It had taken a whole night to get rid of the hangover from a few weeks before, and in doing so you had remembered why it was exactly that you didn't find these things too fun, anyways. You hadn't gotten anywhere near as drunk since. Mindy and Anika had decided on date night instead, and Chad and Ethan were off to watch a movie that originally you would've been invited to, had it not been for Tara.
It was painful, that Chad was ducking you. The irony wasn't lost, that the more time you spent with your fake girlfriend at parties and outings like a couple, the closer you got to actually repairing your relationship with him. You still would've rather gone to the movie, though.
You could actually see Tara, from where you sat. Through the bar window in the kitchen, she was on the dance floor, moving along with the rhythm of hard EDM as best she could. It was a giant mob of people, all clumped up and hopping around in excitement, and you didn't especially want to be out there.
As you watched, a guy came up behind Tara, tapping her on the shoulder and smiling down at her. You thought nothing of it, until you got a longer look at the guy's face. In the revolving, multicoloured lights that hung over the crowd, you recognised him in an instant, standing straight up and weaving your way through the party.
"You having fun, Carpenter?" He asked, with a douche-y smirk on his face as he said it. You rolled your eyes, coming up behind Tara and standing right behind her.
"I—" but you interrupted her.
"She is, Frankie," you shot, staring at him and crossing your arms. Tara whipped around to you with a glare.
"(Y/n), go away," she whispered loudly. But you stood your ground.
"Tara, literally anyone but him. I mean, anyone—"
"That's not your decision."
"Sam tased him in the balls last time. I mean, come on, you have to know he's a douche."
Frankie scoffed. "I'm sorry, who are you?"
"(Y/n) is just a—"
"—We're dating," you interrupted again. "So fuck off."
"No, we aren't," Tara shook her head. "Not really."
"Yes, we are," you nodded at Frankie. "Please leave. She's not sleeping with you tonight." He frowned, but started to walk off.
"That's not your decision, asshole!" Tara scowled and she reached out an arm to stop him. "Frankie, stay. You know what, I wasn't going to, but I will now."
"Frankie, leave. I mean it, you creep." You turned to her and glared. "Tara, listen to me, you—"
"No! Frankie, stay. Maybe I need the company," she shot back, narrowing her eyes. Frankie looked between you both, as did a few other people in the room who were starting to notice.
"They literally call him Date-Rape-Frankie, Tara. There's no way in hell you're sleeping with Date-Rape-Frankie. Frankie, leave."
"Frankie, no, stay. Well, what if I want to?"
"Then you're being stupid."
"Bold choice of words coming from you! You're not my mother."
"I'm not trying to be your mom, Tara. I'm using basic common sense. That guy is a creep and a perv," you pointed to him.
"Hey!" Frankie interjected, raising a hand to your shoulder.
"Fuck off!" you and Tara said in unison, dismissing him to glare right at each other.
"Well maybe I deserve the freedom to sleep with weirdos and whoever I want! I mean, who are you, the fucking sex-Nazi?"
"I don't have a problem with literally anyone else, Tara, but he's a weirdo!"
"Well then let me make that call! I'm not five. You don't need to baby me, I know he's a weirdo!" People were definitely staring now. You were both shouting, but a lot of it was drowned out by the EDM. It didn't stop others watching you point in each others faces and scowl.
"It's not babying you, Tara! It's basic caring! You have no clue about this shit, this is like your fourth party ever!"
"I've managed this far, haven't I?!"
"What, you want a cookie?!"
"Yeah, maybe I fucking do! I'm an adult, asshole! Let me do adult shit!"
"Wow, it's so adult and mature of you, to sleep with creeps and get hungover every Friday. How adult."
"Well, maybe it's not, but who gives a shit! I'm having fun for once! I'm being free without a fucking serial killer on my ass! I know you can't relate, but Christ, take the stick out from your ass!"
"Real nice," you shook your head. "This is what I get for helping you. Of fucking course." Before she could reply, you turned around and headed out the sliding glass door, into the fenced-in backyard. There was a pool back there, and you collapsed into a wrought iron pool chair, right near the edge.
People watched you warily, as you sat out there, but within minutes, the party was resumed. Even from outside, you could hear the thumping bass shake the windows gently as the glass moved in the panes.
There was a faint scent of petrichor from the small patch of grass out there, and the sky rumbled in the distance. It was peaceful out there, with small hanging fairy lights and the pool in front of you. You propped your legs up on the glass table and tried not to scream.
This was exactly what you should've expected, from Tara. Of course she would be selfish. Of course she would be brash. A part of you wasn't surprised. Disappointed, sure. But not surprised. You just sat there and tried to cool your breathing, watching the city lights in front of you.
You must've sat like that for an hour or two, just watching the city. It didn't feel like long enough. You might've even felt at peace, until you felt a hand on your shoulder.
"Um...excuse me?" You craned your neck around, looking up in your chair to see a concerned guy looking down at you.
"Are you (Y/n)?" He asked, awkwardly scratching his neck. You nodded, confused.
"Uh, yeah? Do we know each other?"
"No! No, I was asked by Tara, I think was her name? She wanted me to get you. She's your girlfriend, right?"
The worry came back, and you stood up. "Why, what happened? Where is she?" Sam was really going to kill you.
"She's in the guest bathroom, I think she's sick."
===+++===
"Tara?"
"(Y/n)?" you heard a very uneasy voice on the other end.
"Can I come in?" you asked, and when there was no response, you let yourself inside. She was on the other end of the massive bathroom, leaned up against the bathtub with her head close to the toilet bowl.
Tara looked absolutely green, with her hair sweatily stuck to her forehead and eyes barely open. "Christ Tara, how much did you have to drink?" you asked in worry, coming to stand over her.
"Oh, just—" she gagged like she was about to puke and you bent down to grab her and tug her towards the toilet bowl. You spun back to the guy in the doorway, who stared at you both with wide eyes.
"Can you get me some crackers and Gatorade?" you asked him, sending a hopeful glance. He nodded and closed the door, and you turned back to Tara, who was bent over the toilet bowl.
You moved her gently and lifted the toilet seat up. "Are you okay?" you asked with a frown. You felt like an idiot the moment it left your mouth.
She raised her eyebrows. "Do I look okay?" Tara mumbled.
"Well, no."
"Thass' good," she slurred. "I had too many," she hiccupped. You nodded.
"I'd say so. How much did you have Tara?"
She giggled. "This many." She held up four fingers with a giant, toothy grin and slumped with her arms encircling the toilet bowl.
"Since when?" you blinked.
"Since you got allllllllll pissy!" You sighed, hands going to her hair and pulling it back. She wrinkled her nose at you. "Why are you touching my hairrrrr?!"
"So you don't vomit all on it, idiot," you replied, shaking your head. Tara huffed.
"I'mnuh gonnuh puke."
And then Tara puked. Everywhere.
===+++===
You both sat there, that way, for about ten minutes. Tara vomited three times, during that span, and when she was done, you handed her the crackers and Gatorade and told her to do her worst.
She downed them in another fifteen minutes, sitting in the bathtub and eating while you sat leaned up against the bathroom wall, across from her, just in silence. The sounds of the party seemed to have died a little bit as the night droned on, and by now people would be wandering home or to someone else’s place.
While you waited, you shot Sam a text, letting her know you’d bring Tara home and that she was okay. Sam didn’t reply but she saw the message, and you figured that was good enough. When you checked the weather app, Tara finally spoke, coming to her senses a bit with more food in her system.
“Thank you,” she said quietly, staring down at the package for the crackers in her hand. “Thanks.”
You shrugged, staring at the toilet in front of you. It probably reeked in there, but at this point you were nose blind. “For what?” You meant for that to be it, just a small little acknowledgment, but Tara shook her head.
“Thank you for that. For being here.”
She stared right at you when she said it, and you knew she meant it with conviction. You nodded. “I know we don’t always get along, but I had your back, back there.”
“You have my back?” she asked, smiling a little and grabbing her Gatorade from the edge of the tub.
“I agreed to help you, didn’t I?”
She paused for a moment, then nodded. “You did, yeah.” Tara looked over at you, then tilted her head to the side. “I still don’t get why, though.”
“You were honest, for once.” It came from a surprising place, and you said it before you entirely knew you were speaking. You didn’t completely know what it meant either, until after you said it, but the words passed between you almost like a new understanding.
A few moments of silence came and went, before she spoke again. “I walk silently places at night in case I hear I’m being followed. By Ghostface. Same thing as when I’m home alone. I don’t do it as much anymore, but I still do it sometimes. Don’t tell Sam, please please please. She’ll make me go to therapy.”
“Okay,” you said, nodding gently. You leaned your head back up against the wall, craning it up to look at the ceiling.
“Why are you being nice to me?” She asked. You laughed, tracing the popcorn pattern of the roof with your eyes.
“I’m not the devil, Tara.”
“…Neither am I.”
“I know,” you said, and you reached your arm out for a cracker. She gave you one and you crunched down on it, while an especially large bass hit came from the speakers outside. “God, this music fucking sucks,” you groaned.
Tara nodded. “It’s really hard to dance to.”
“Well,” you shrugged, “it didn’t seem like you were struggling earlier.”
Tara frowned, then tilted her head in curiosity. “What’s your favourite song?”
You raised your eyebrows in amusement. “Why?”
“Just wondering,” she said.
“Okay… you’re going to laugh, though.”
“Am I?” she grinned. You nodded.
“Do you know that one song, The Promise, by When In Rome? It’s from the 80s, it’s super cheesy?”
She stared off for a moment, in thought, then shook her head. “Don’t think so, how’s it go?”
You rolled your eyes, but began to quietly sing it in a tone that wavered in between spoken word and humming. It was terrible and you were tone deaf, but it was the song. “If you need a friend, don’t look to a straaanger. You know in the end,” your voice broke a little at the low note, and Tara giggled but you continued, “I’ll always be thereee.”
“Wow.”
“Mhm. And then it skips a little bit and the chorus goes, ‘I’m sorry but I’m just thinking of the right words to say, I know they don’t sound the way I planned them to beee.’”
She cut you off with her hand, laughing hysterically. You felt your cheeks flushed, and in any other time you would’ve been annoyed with her laughing at you. But this didn’t feel mean. You just smiled right back.
“That was good, actually,” she managed, between small laughs. “Why is it your favourite?”
“Um,” you shrugged, “my brother used to sing it to me, years ago when I was scared.”
“I didn’t know you had a brother,” Tara said, leaning her head on the tile wall of the tub.
“I have six.”
She blinked, then sat up straight. “Since when?!”
“Always, Carpenter,” you shrugged. “Everyone knows.”
“Everyone who?”
“Chad, Mindy, Anika. Even Quinn.”
“I didn't know. How come you never talk about them?”
”I just don’t,” you frowned. Tonight was definitely not the night to get into that. Instead, you pivoted topics. “Why, what’s your favourite song? I showed you mine, now you’ve got to show me yours.”
“I’m ninety nine percent sure that’s not how that saying is used,” she laughed, “but fine. When I was crying as a baby, my mom sung me this song, called Baby, I Love You by The Ronettes.”
“Don’t think I’ve heard of it.”
Tara shook her head. “Probably not, but they’re the same group that does that one song Be My Baby?”
“Oh, yeah.”
“Apparently my mom had Baby, I Love You playing in the hospital, when I was born and everything. It’s kind of comforting. When I miss her, I play it.”
“How often is that?”
She shrugged. “More than you’d think, considering she’s a giant asshole.”
"That's always how it is."
"Mhm... and just so you know, I know Frankie was a creep. I wasn't actually going to do anything with him. Just flirt. Have fun."
"I know. I wasn't trying to babysit you, I just wanted to warn you. That creep has so many stories."
"I know. I just don't like being told what to do, sometimes. It's a whole thing. I'm working on it, seriously."
You didn’t know what to say to that, so you didn’t say anything at all. You both sat in what you assumed was a prolonged silence, until you looked down finally to see Tara’s eyelids falling heavy.
You stood up with a sigh. “You should go home.” There was no reply, and you checked out the small window in the bathroom to still see it was pitch black out. It was definitely too late to send her home this sleepy, and after the incident a few weeks ago, there was no way Sam would let her stay at yours. “Tara,” you nudged her.
She groaned, rolling over in the tub and snuggling up. You rolled your eyes, then looked out the window one more time with an annoyed grumble.
===+++===
The longer you had to walk with her on your back, the more you regretted this. Her arms were wrapped around your neck, face pressed onto the back of your shoulder and knees held up by your hands. You couldn’t see her, but you knew her eyes were shut and she was super close to being actually asleep.
"We make a good team, you know," she mumbled into your shoulder. You knew she was being funny, but you were too tired to laugh as you trudged up the hill. Carrying a drunk girl home was not at all what you had anticipated of the night, and though it had been shitty at the beginning and shitty until almost the very end, you could definitely say it wasn't shitty right then.
When you arrived at her apartment complex, Tara was soundly asleep and Sam came out to meet you both, taking her sister from you and stumbling with her towards the door. In the distance, right over another hill, the sky was already beginning to lighten up a bit.
Right as both Carpenters reached the door, Tara stopped for a moment to turn back to you with a smile. "Thanks, babe," she said with a cheeky grin that was only half awake. You smiled back.
"You too, babe."
Sam rolled her eyes, pulling Tara through the door. It was a pleasant night, still with the same faint scent of rain oncoming. In your weird, newfound peace as you walked home yourself, you didn't see that Quinn was watching you from the upstairs window.
===+++===
so that was fun lmao. anyways there will be a part 3 but you and tara are kind of maybe friends now? now it's time for feelings 😈

There is this one storyline somewhere that I think either I watched somewhere, read somewhere, or just dreamt or thought abt but it’s stuck in my head lately and it’s soooo perfect for buddie, that I must share because I can’t write fanfics but I can tell you guys the ideas my silly little brain comes up with:
Three words
Buck car crash
Bonus points if Chris is in the backseat (we are sick and twisted for the fact that ik yall will agree)
Okay but to the actual idea
So Buck’s car crashes but in the end all of them are fine and obviously the jeep has a lot of sentimental value so when he sees the ruins of it it hits him hard and the mechanic or whoever is like cos it’s an old car and had some problems and the damage is so bad it’s better easier and cheaper for you to just get a new one
Now this part is specifically from the storyline with ambiguous origins not just cos of my hatred toward a certain Thomas but in that story the girl’s (?) bf is like a secret subtle asshole in the dismissive way like he kinda just says like oh the crash could’ve been worse, you should be thankful, it’s just a car, you can buy a new one that’s the same make, all that jazz - so imma honestly say that that reaction tracks for tommy ngl
Okay as I’m writing this I’m realising that storyline may 88% be from a dream so maybe we DO know the origins of it (yes I dream in stories sometimes)
Anyways so buck is like it wouldn’t be the same it wouldn’t have this sentimental thing or this idk sharpie writing or this nail polish stain or this blah blah blah
but ultimately he’s like you know what? okay yeah you’re right and says goodbye to the jeep
And the best friend- Eddie- knows or is there for all this and goes behind Buck’s back and buys the damaged car from the place (I’m just a girl 🎀 is it called a junkyard or do they take it to like a mechanic lot or what?) and fixes up the car in secret and keeps as much of the original pieces as possible and keeps the pieces he can’t salvage to turn into some sort of keepsake like idk cutting parts of the metal and turning it into some sort of trinket (realistic car restoration? Not round here partner not round here🤠)
Bonus points for emotional moment when he has to fix the interior of the car and sees the blood remnants from the crash
Skip forward to a big celebration like Christmas or a birthday or something (birthday is my preference for this plot but Christmas does canonically make buddie gayer so 🤷🏽‍♀️) and the actual boyfriend got a good but generic present like idk a nice sweater (idk what you get boyfriends?) and ofc the bestie has the secret restored car
BUT
The bestie SWAPS WITH THE BOYFRIEND
Big sentimental reaction toward having the car back, thanks exchanged, Eddie looking on yada yada
After the party or maybe just a quiet moment at the party Eddie is chilling outside or whatever and then buck approaches and is like *meaningful look* “thank you” and Eddie is like tryna play it off and be like ah yes ik how much you love sweaters *mental facepalm* and then buck is like🤨 unimpressed cut the bullshit face and he’s like no Thank you™️ (in bold and italics and tm to communicate to you guys the tone) and eddie drops the act and is just like “fuck how did you know?” and then buck is like “I’ve never mentioned half those minor details or their sentimental value to him before” and then Eddie once again tries to play it off and be like “well I helped but it was him” and then cue unimpressed cut the bs look no2 and Eddie gives up and is like you’re welcome (do I need to tell you guys why I’m putting this in bold and italics or can you envision the cow eyes that go with this line?)
*soft smiles from both*
Then the scene literally ends with them sat next to eachother on a bench or wherever they are and chatting abt none sense or maybe over the semantics of actually fixing the car while they do the little head leaning on the shoulder thing

honestly could you just straight up review every song on brat
deal
360 - functions perfectly as an album opener (and i appreciate the work it puts in to set up the far superior 365 at the end) but doesn't do much for me as a standalone song. i'm not sure if this is actually a problem with the song itself or if i just dislike the post-ironic nyc it girl culture featured in the music video so much that i now have beef with the song as a consequence
club classics - i have not heard this song while off my face in a grotty warehouse club in an east london industrial estate and as a result i don't feel i can truly give it the impartial ranking it deserves just yet. this is not a song that reaches its full potential in any other setting
sympathy is a knife - i don't find myself returning to this song often but i do objectively think it bangs hugely. i just have surprisingly little to say about it honestly
i might say something stupid - huge song, and yet so small at the same time. it is very rare that i call a sub-2 minute song perfect because i'm 5minutesongfucker420 but it comes in, says what it needs to, and rips your heart out in the process. i go back and forth comparing brat and melodrama quite often (SORRY CHARLI, I KNOW YOU HAVE A SONG ABOUT THIS COMING UP) because they're both Party Girl Concept Albums and to me this is brat's "liability" in terms of early album moment of complete braking-hard-and-hitting-the-wall vulnerability.
talk talk - SOOOO fun. absolutely love the production on this one, right up my alley, i am also a huge sucker for a big fun song about having a crush. i would also like to shout out this song for ruining any international sporting event where france and spain face off because all i can ever think is TALK TO ME IN FRENCH TALK TO ME IN SPANISH TALK TO ME IN YOUR OWN MADE UP LANGUAGE
von dutch - absolutely gigantic and a perfect opening single to set the tone of the era. those massive revving synths encapsulate the sound of what i thought clubbing would be like when i was about 13 years old. also a perfect confidence boost song - i have strutted at olympic racewalker speed down the street with this blasting in my airpods more times than i would care to admit
BONUS: the various von dutch remixes - i don't always subscribe to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule of remixes (for example, to go on a complete tangent, i adore both deadmau5's original raise your weapon and the madeon extended remix because they do entirely different things equally well) but nothing in the von dutch remixes make me think yeah, this is worthy of existing alongside the original and adds something cool and interesting and different to the track that i wasn't already getting from the og. the one exception i'd make is, of course, addison rae's extremely cunty scream in the a.g. cook remix but i'm not going to keep returning to an entire remix for just one fun moment that's already been oversaturated on tiktok
everything is romantic - i will confess, for all i claim to be an open minded enjoyer of music and a fan of Insane Tracks For The Club, initially the jagged production was a bit jarring to me and i thought yeah, i probably won't be coming back to this song. and now i'm obsessed with it. however it does make the children (me) yearn for the mediterranean and as a result i will be invoicing charli for the damage to my bank account when the day inevitably comes that i listen to this song too many times after half a bottle of wine and immediately book myself an italian weekend getaway
rewind - first time i heard this i was like oh okay we're getting into the slightly more fillery second third of the album, it's a fine song but not quite on the level of all that has come before it. and now it is one of my absolute favourites. i also LOVE how direct and specific the lyrics are on this track, which is something i normally beef with when it comes to a lot of contemporary pop music but the difference is 1) charli is good at it 2) her delivery is so direct that it sort of dares you to sit still and listen without criticising it. incredibly strong song
so i - a genuinely beautiful song that i rarely listen to because it makes me feel like i am intruding on something. i think the fact that it exists out in the world on this album is a wonderful thing and the most perfect tribute to sophie & full circle moment when it comes to charli's insecurities around working with her - "when i make songs i remember things you'd suggest... would you like this one? maybe just a little bit?" - but at the same time i'm always like. i kind of feel like i shouldn't be listening to this
girl, so confusing - the original is a lovely little paradox. i enjoyed it enough on my first listen and the lorde version quite simply would not exist, let alone be as impactful as it is, without it, but now that the lorde version exists i don't want to listen to any other version. the remix is almost certainly going to be my top brat track of the year
apple - initially a skip, then i had a moment of realisation that it is in fact the best marina and the diamonds song written in years (that froot looks familiar, i suppose), and then it rapidly became overplayed as the result of, to be fair, the very good and fun tiktok dance that i still do on instinct every time i hear the song. i think instead of riding the wave of its virality by releasing it to radio as a single etc charli should lock this one in a vault for about three months so nobody can listen to it and then when it comes back we'll all be like oh yeah wait this is a really good little song
b2b - love it, was my immediate fave out of the club classics/b2b double single release, but once again i feel like i've not yet heard it at its full potential (inside a cramped and small and extremely sweaty basement club when i'm 8 shots deep planning a terribly ill advised pulling mission)
mean girls - the thing is i think it's a fun enough song as a storytelling concept if you view it as Just A Little Fun Song, also i love the production, a little bit of house-y piano is always going to hit for me. the issue is i've already told you what i think about the post-ironic it girl subculture this song is about and i think if you actively listen to this song and go wowwwww she gets me then you need to have your internet access forcibly removed for at least six months until you calm down and develop a personality outside of the red scare podcast and pretentious "overrated vs underrated" columns hosted by wannabe substack celebrities. also the thing is this song is going to be dated within the year, which is a shame bc it does, musically, go
i think about it all the time - this song should NOT hit as hard as it does considering i staunchly plan on never having children. i cannot relate to the sentiment behind it at all but charli paints such a beautiful and vivid picture with her lyrics (all perfectly intertwined with that understated, quietly pulsating production) that you can't help but have an emotional connection to it. beautiful and vulnerable and a really perfect moment of quiet towards the end of the album
365 - first of all, a perfectly placed song when it comes to encapsulating those dizzy night out mood swings of "wait. should i settle down and have children.... nvm let's go back inside and do coke". second of all, as a musical theatre girlie to my core i love ANY song that reprises an earlier theme and this not only repurposes the 360 stems excellently but actively improves on the earlier track. thirdly, i think charli's "okay, OKAYYYY" at the beginning of the song is a flawless and fun way of rounding out the album - it really feels like she's bringing you back into it, going OKAY let's do this one last time, are you FUCKING READY, etc. fourthly, it's just FUN. definitely a standout track to me
hello goodbye - LOVEEEE, i do greatly enjoy and appreciate charli's more experimental music but i can't lie. sometimes she releases a fairly straightforward poppy banger and it just hits the spot. like this
guess - YOU WANNA GUESS THE COLOUR OF MY UNDERWEAR YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT I'VE GOT GOING ON DOWN THERE IS IT PRETTY IN PINK OR ALL SEE THROUGH IS IT SHOWING OFF MY BRAND NEW LOWER BACK TATTOO. btw the billie eilish verse on the remix slays, i know this is a charli review but i love that billie has devoted her first two explicitly gay singles to being just outrageously horny with it, you go girl, i think the discourse around the song is so unbelievably daft and we need to settle down and have fun
spring breakers - i know this is a fan fave that people were begging to put on the album but i just simply do not care about it. sorry

i havent been tuesdayposting the past few weeks so this is a convenient time to try shabbosposting instead! we did it. we finished the semester.
listening: Homestuck Made This World podcast, more WTYP podcast, my spotify top tracks of the year playlist mainly, also scheherazade suite (the budapest philharmonic recording)
reading: nothing ♥️ I'm looking forward to looking at my reading list and hitting some of that though. Also making posts to queue for my museum blog
watching: I watched basically all of Bocci the Rock in one sitting with my partner, it's soooo cute
Tumblr media
playing: hadesgame!
making: theoretically embroidering, I'm so close to being done with this project but the last stretch is trying me
BONUS: what delights have I experienced?
walking around: home for break so I've been walking my family dog every day :D before coming home I had some good lil walks around downtown too. a lot of pokego happening
fellowship, deliciousness: had some good hangouts before coming home; birthday dinner for a friend at a really good burger place (had a REALLY GOOD blackberry cocktail there) and played billiards after, small gettogether on the first night of Chanukah (my roommate did the cooking and while her latkes were not coherent shapes they were delicious) ... and obviously now that I'm home, hanging out with my mom and SO, making plans to see friends, made sufganiyot with @saltedcaramelbastard!!! and my brother gets back home from study abroad today so it'll be awesome to see him too (plus meet his gf)
Tumblr media
goofing: well so. okay. the process of making the sufganiyot involved filling them with cream right. we made a lemon custard for it and put that in a piping bag, used a chopstick to make a hole, and then piped the custard in. the required jokes were made. however my mom thought this was so funny that when she asked if she could try filling a donut she (and I) broke down in hysterics. i do have a delightful candid shot that I will not be posting here but it was so silly
transcendence: semester is over..i finished the nightmare semester...
wildcard: not only is the semester over I PASSED ALL MY CLASSES. WITH WIGGLE ROOM NO LESS. B in quantum, B in the stupid math class, A in the machine learning class. i am akin to a god etc. never doing that to myself again lol lmao.

Week ending: 13th February
And like that, after last week's decidedly unhip offerings from the perpetually grandfatherly Pat Boone, the 1950s as you imagine them happening are back with a bang! (And with it a bit of bonus lore about my weird childhood music listening habits).
At the Hop - Danny & the Juniors (peaked at Number 3)
I should confess here that I have known and loved this song for a long time. It was the title track for at least one disc of a four-disc Shake, Rattle and Roll set of rock and roll compilation CDs that for some reason I owned as a kid. They weren't my family's CDs, they were mine, and I loved them (and played them) every bit as much as I loved (and played) my Disney hits CD, my Pop Party compilations and my Harry Potter audiobooks. I have no idea how or why I ended up with these CDs. I have no idea why I latched onto them so hard. I have absolutely no idea what my parents must have thought of me bopping round my bedroom to tracks like this. I do, however, think it's a not-insignificant part of the reason why I'm doing this project now - a mix of nostalgia and just a general love of rogue older music.
So yeah, all that to say that this song feels weirdly nostalgic for me. I distinctly remember enjoying this song for its pace, its silly hop hop hop hop backing singers and its stupidly catchy, repetitive hook. And honestly, I think that all holds up. It's just a good song - a bit repetitive, with lots of let's go to the hop, but all tied up with these tight doo-wop harmonies, a classic 12-bar blues structure, and this driving piano playing triplets underneath everything, keeping the song tripping along. There's even a section where the piano plays a solo and you get all these hand claps. In short, this has everything you might want - perfect for reeling in particularly discriminating pre-teens.
I also enjoy the glimpse we get into 1950s youth music habits that the song gives us. I think as a kid I assumed a hop was a type of bar, but no, it's a reference to a "sock hop", which is a phrase I've heard a lot but never really has a solid concept of. A sock hop, then, was apparently an informal dance for young people held typically in school cafeterias and gymnasiums from the 1940s onwards. Before the rise of sneakers, the idea was that you had to take your shoes off so as to not damage the floor - and it's at venues like this that novelty dances took off and whole genres of music, particularly rock and roll, doo-wop or otherwise, really got their start.
The song's lyrics, appropriately for this, also reference a bunch of novelty and fad dances, as Danny sings about how you can rock it, you can roll it / Do the stomp and even stroll it / At the hop / You chalypso when you chicken at the hop / Do the dance sensations that are sweepin' the nation / At the hop. They're deliberately difficult lyrics, sung at breakneck pace and made opaque to anybody but the coolest and best informed teens on the block - certainly nobody above the age of 18 was coming away from this record any better informed about what the kids were doing, and to be honest, that's probably deliberate. These are the Tiktok dances of their day, and half the fun is doing them, but the other half is baffling your parents and pretending like your parents arejust soooo uncool for not knowing how to chalypso when you chicken. Honestly, dad, ugh.
But yeah, it's a good song, and while Danny and the Juniors aren't quite one-hit wonders, this is definitely the thing they ended up best known for. In fact, it has quite the afterlife - it got covered at Woodstock, over a decade later, and the original version got reused four years after that for the film American Graffiti, which prompted a rerelease or Danny and the Juniors' original that seems to have done pretty well for itself. So yeah, a nice little success story for a track that couldn't be more stereotypically 1950s if it tried!
Love Me Forever - Marion Ryan (5)
And we go from pacy 1950s excess to this, a track that definitely slows the pace down. Marion Ryan is not a name I'd ever come across until I listened to this, but apparently she was quite the popular artist in the UK. She did occasionally appear on the Goon Show - a mark against her, if you've seen my Goons entries - but that misfortune notwithstanding, this is a pretty standard bit of British pop balladeering, nothing wrong with it.
Marion has a voice that somehow is just very British, mannered without being too old-fashioned, and technically very good, without ever thrilling me. It's not dissimilar to Petula Clark, and has a quality to it that wouldn't feel entirely out of place in the 1960s, something in the way she hangs back then leans into certain words, without ever really belting, or pehaps it's just in the indulgent la la la la bits. I don't know, the overall effect is pretty timeless, is maybe what I want to say here.
The song doesn't have much to say for itself, just lots of Marion asking her love to Love me / Love me forever / Take me, make me your own. There's a bit of promising, a bit of kissing strongly and sweetly, and a bit of swearing to be true, now and forever, as I love you. It's simple, and I also do think that this simplicity might be what makes this song feel more modern, to my ears - earlier in the 1950s you'd have had a lot more rhetorical flourishes and cruft. This is simple, stripped-back - not quite singer-songwriter, but it's going for that same bare, confessional vibe, I guess.
All this, backed simply with some (very extra) backing singers, an electric guitar that also sounds maybe like a mandolin (?) and some notionally vaguely Latin background drumming rhythms. All of which, when I write it down together, sounds like quite a weird combination, but Marion does just about make it work. So there's that.
I think writing about that last song, I might have brough myself round to liking a lot more than I did the first time I hit play? I certainly think it's a lot less old-fashioned than I initially assumed - ironically, it's actually a lot more forward-facing than the theoretically much more hip At the Hop, which is cool, but will age like milk as soon as any of the dances in it go out of style. But nostalgia has to win the day, for me. At the Hop is just a good song, man!
Favourite song of the bunch: At the Hop

OH MY GOD HAVE YOU SEEN DICKINSON??? i loved it sooo much!!!! 😨😭😭💕 emisue made an actual crumbled piece of paper of my heart, i felt that relationship too closely and more so because of the actresses’ chemistry. like honestly i haven’t seen such a real and emotional media representation in a looong time and that needs to be well recognised! BUT YES the ivy references are SO obvious, it is for sure one of her greatest lgbt+ coded songs and a lot of straight swifties agree that the vibes are unquestionable!!! especially if you’ve watched that show too, like goddamn it just HITS (different) sksksk oh and i love watching fanvideos as well!
no need to apologise for rambling bestie!! i also do it and your replied put my fangirl shoes on lmao but to answer your questions; yes i’m excited about speak now tv because it’s another rerecording plus new content from the vault! though tbh i’m probably more excited about the rest. like i know for a fact 1989 and reputation are gonna bury me alive, i cannot even prepare myself for that. but i agree!!! mine is SO GOOD and it also has lgbt+ vibes imo! along with wonderland and cruel summer ofc, iykyk!! haha my faves from speak now are mine, better than revenge, last kiss, haunted and long live. so those are the ones i’m waiting for the most! ✨
ohh great, i’m a yntcd/me supporter too!! they don’t deserve the slander they get, i really don’t get it! i wish i had a vinyl player though… i’ve always loved vintage stuff and it’s a shame they’re so expensive, but i trust you 100% the sound coming from them must be something unparalleled. OMG wait you have tattoos!!! woah those look SO pretty, i’m obsessed! i’d say i’m more of a piercings girl but me and my gf have been discussing to get ourselves Seven tattoos, so that’s the one i’m wishing for (another great lgbt+ song if you ask me, also cowboy like me!) but my fave is rep, definitely another gay coded album if you just feel it that way… or i’m probably too gay for my own sake and i just like to queer code everything 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
alright this got unexpectedly long and i’m so sorry! please feel free to answer whenever you can and feel like to, no pressure here!! i just got too excited sharing these little things with you and getting ideas for a perfect gift! 💌😋 but i’ll see you soon, lots of love ! - 🌈
hiii hiii <33 sorry it took me some time to answer i had a crazy weekend and i was on vacation so i kind of stayed out of tumblr for most of it!
and yes ofc i’ve seen dickinson! i had like a whole dickinson era, i literally bought “open me carefully” but i haven’t even finished reading it because i’m having so much feels every time i’m opening this book but like. AHHHH how can people just say they were “best friends” or whatever? and i remember when i watched it and i was in my dickinson era i even started writing some draft about emisue + ivy. it’s actually not so popular tv show which kind of makes me sad because she’s soooo good! i didn’t got into the dickinson fandom actually but idk i haven’t seen many edits or headcanons. but ofc in ao3 there are great fics! and yes yes i agree with everything you had to say! the chemistry between the actress was so rare and it one of the best wlw representation we had in the recent years!
god i hope that in 1989 tv she’s gonna add a bonus track of style ft. harry styles because it’s been my dream since 2014 and i literally do not care about anything else. oh, and need (from the leaks) feels like a reputation tv vault to me?? like i feel it in the same vibe of ✨dress✨ but she couldn’t include both so she basically gave up on need for dress but i love dress so much as well so i’m like? i want to have both but. i don’t know if i’ll ever gonna get both, y’know? 😂
also yes now that you mention it rep has some gay vibes i haven’t noticed before!! like dress? getaway car?? gorgeous?? “only bought this dress so you could take it off”??? I MEAN HELLO also in a parallel universe it could be fitting for emisue! hmm maybe i will edit them with dress one day… we shall see….
and omg yeah seven tattoos could be so cool!!! and thank you i really love my tattoos <3 kind of funny to me how both of these songs I tattooed (ivy / august) talking about cheating and having illicit affair in a sense AMFHKFK but out of context i just really love the sentence of “to live for the hope of it all” idk how to explain it
can’t wait to hear from you again!! <3

ALL OF YOUR ANSWERS ARE SO FUCKING GOOD AND CORRECT.... man I thought I had my own answer to this but I've just been absolutely floored by how perfect of a pull My Computer is holy shit i loovvvvveeee also god Point Numero Dos is so bigbrained and hot
okay so my gut check was Same Plane Dream because I think they would get LOUD and WEIRD and QUITE EE on the guitars and vocals like.. it's already kind of on the loudest and weirdest end of duncles stuff and I do believe they have it in them to just take it to that next level and really kick its ass. i am Also thinking about Accelerate, because I want to let Alex run all over the place on the synths like a wild fucking animal, and because I think the backing vocals would be gooorrgggeous,, yfm. my WEIRD PULL is Lovebone ???? ? idk it's HITTING for me for some reason, the way the vocal kind of falls apart at the end,, there's a weird moment that's begging for a classic jonathan EeeEEeeEe,, I could also see a quite jennifer-y Nometo like, working. um yeah. okay. but also everything that you said is Also Correct
it's going to be soooo hard to pick an other-way-round answer that isn't just my computer now because I think you just. got it correct, objectively, empirically,,, I feel like there are a lot of answers that are Too Obvious like well of course a fever dream, i could see the vocals kind of getting canon-y back and forth between duncan and rob/the rest of them in a way more call-and-response loopier way than the orig, and like of course r u happy is well in their wheelhouse. I think jon's much-maligned GTH bonus tracks are also ripe for this, could really see them fucking about with brainchild.... and what I REALLY have said already is that we just need them to drop a duncles remix of don't ask me to beg. it's what the world deserves.
if everything everything were to cover a dutch uncles song which would you like for it to be/do you think would make the most sense. and same vice versa. and should members cross over between bands to make this happen
look i know i say this every time but this is an EXCELLENT question. much to think about......... POINT NUMERO UNO: i really want to watch alex robertshaw play the marimba, actually, now you've put the thought in my head. truly the anti-panto pete. i want them to do threads and for jon and alex to do the marimba thing together POINT NUMERO DOS: i think jeremy could do a lot with the big balloon bass riff. sexually speaking. POINT NUMERO TRES: babymaking. my actual answer i think might be poppin' because it's funky and it's fun and also i want jez and alex to yell READ MY MUPPET LIPS real loud. bonus points if someone constructs a muppet-jon and puppeteers him from just behind jez's amp
and vice versa: duncan 'sounds like he's about to cry on 90% of true entertainment' wallis could do a Lot with in birdsong but i fear there wouldn't be enough for the rest of em to do. i'm gonna say my computer because that's one that ee Don't do live and i AM mad about it and also. i just think
also: pete sené and henry broadhead as the two Background Guys of the bands swap places and nobody acknowledges it. thank you for coming to my ted talk
(i want to hear your answers to this OBVIOUSLY please i feel like you'll have thought about this a lot) (i also want to hear @qwertyfingers answers to this if he feels like it, as one of the only other Both Bands Likers)

omg maddy can we take guesses on how badly she is gonna destroy all lore for speak now, 1989 AND rep? that lady has told SOOOO many stories about those songs, i know she's gonna say something like "so this bonus track i wrote in 7 minutes after meeting the guy who wrote and sang fireflies. also i wrote this song and it was 12 minutes before i wrote enchanted and i wrote this one in december when it snowed yes it was the 13th of december so anyway yes so they are really sister songs and a continuation of each other and yes i literally came up with the lyrics in the shower humming the melody according to the way the water hit the tub. oh thank you so much yes i recorded it in 13 seconds hah!!! love that for me ok bye"
christ she's never going to live that down huh she's gonna sit there and say enchanted is about uhh fucking gossip girl or something and an interviewer will be like "what about adam" and she'll be like who
side note i'm actually so stoked about speak now tv because it's one of my faves and her new vocals are gonna sound so good 🙏🙏

Christmas with poly!Slenjack, Slendra, and Y/N’s kid from slenjack x single parent!reader (and Jasmine and Juliette if it’s not too much)? Love your writing btw!
I LOVE THIS ASK AND I AM SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO GET TO. I kind of fell out of doing requests and writing except for lore stuff so I apologise. I’m getting back on track now and I’m going to clear out my inbox and get to the requests that have been rotting away in here for so long. I’m sorry for all of this yall :( I just needed a break I guess. Edit: forgot to tag @queenofmandy bc she basically fleshed out the twins and made them developed characters and ik she’ll wanna see this HSDGDSJ
Anyway enjoy!
Your conventional christmas would be spent with family, surely. Dinner with your parents and exchanging gifts with your little boy, Sam. But this year is a little different. You took Sam to see his grandparents that morning. He seems very happy with his gift, and all the extra candy that's probably going to keep both of you on a sugar rush till January. Now though, it's afternoon, and you're headed for another place. Your boyfriends house. Not boyfriend's, boyfriends. Plural.
"Y'know I don't know HOW Slender keeps managing to get the minivan through to the house," you murmur as you lead Sam through the forest. He giggles and you adjust the big plastic bag in your free hand. "You excited to see em sweetie?"
"Yeah!" He chirps. "Are Jasmine and Juliette gonna be there?"
You laugh a bit. "Sweetheart, it's christmas. They're not going anywhere."
"Juliette doesn't have a date?"
You snort. "For once, no." You chuckle a bit as you walk over the line of mushrooms and into the spacious front yard of the house. Typically, it'll be full of colour from the bushes and flowerbeds, and the large tree in the yard would be bearing lots of fruit, but now it's all covered in snow. You trudge through it, noticing a few snow angels in the ground as you pass, before reaching the front door. You knock a couple times before opening it. They always leave it unlocked for you. "C'mon sweetie." You call gently as you step inside.
You help Sam take off his coat, hat and scarf before doing the same with yourself. He's dressed in a brand new outfit you got him. Denim overalls and a rainbow striped shirt. It's probably obvious where he got that outfit idea from. In the other room up the hall you can hear laughter and yelling. You grab your bag again and walk up the hall, Sam following at your heels.
"Can ye reach luv?"
"Pff- yeh da, I can-"
"Or do ye need ta go higher?!"
"DA! PU' ME DOWN-" Juliette squeals as LJ stretches his arms, lifting her higher up into the air. She kicks her legs and laughs along with him.  You grin as you enter the living room. LJ is holding one of his twin daughters up to the gigantic christmas tree, cackling in amusement. Sam stares up in amazement.
"Sammy!!" Jasmine, the second twin, squeals as she spots you. She dashes over and sweeps Sam up off the ground, holding him up. ‘’There ye are ye li’le bin lid!’’ she coos. You chuckle a bit. Jasmine adores Sam, and Sam adores Jasmine. She grins.
‘’Hi!’’ Sam chirps quietly. He kicks his legs and giggles at her.
Jasmine puts him down with a grunt. ‘’Ye’re ge’in big, ain’tcha?’’ she says with a wide smile. ‘’No’ g’nna be able ta pick ye up much longer.’’ Sam whines in response and she pats his head. ‘’Don’ worry, da can still lif’ ye up,’’ she looks over at Jasmine. ‘’Righ’ Jules?’’
LJ turns to look at you. His bright blue eyes widen in surprise as he spots you. He puts Juliette down and turns to you, grinning wide. He’s wearing a thick lavender sweater, rather than his usual monochrome outfit. ‘’y/n!’’ he chirps before rushing over to you. He hugs you tight and sweeps you up off the ground. You cry out in surprise and he leans up and pecks a kiss onto your lips. He giggles. ‘’I’s good ta see ya luv!’’
You laugh a bit. ‘’You too, sweetie.’’ you reply fondly before kissing him again. He blushes a soft pink and giggles some more.
“'Ow are ye, me dear?" He asks softly, looking up at you with big blue eyes. You smile gently at him.
"Good. Saw my parents. Sam is really happy," you glance over at your son and smile. He's excitedly talking with the twins, probably about the gifts he got earlier. You look back at LJ. "How about you, birthday boy?"
He grins and giggles. "Pre'y good," he gently sets you down again and toys with the sleeves of his sweater. "Th' kiddos 'ave been 'avin' a grea' time." He glances at the girls. Juliette notices and pauses for a moment, giving a gap-toothed grin and waving before going back to playing with Sam.
The kitchen door suddenly swings open behind him. "Jasmine dear can you-" Slender leans out of the kitchen before suddenly noticing you. "Y/n!" He steps out into the living room, having seemingly forgotten about Jasmine. You smile softly as he walks over to you. He’s wearing a red apron with a fluffy white trim. He leans down and you peck a kiss onto where his mouth would be. He stands up again. ‘’You’re early.’’
His stern tone surprises you. ‘’I am?’’
‘’Yes! You said you’d be here by three, it’s half past two!’’ he glares at you and you laugh nervously.
‘’Oh. Oops.’’ you murmur. He stands up and sighs, moving quickly back to the kitchen.
‘’It’s fine, it’s fine- you’ll just have to wait a little for lunch.’’ he mutters.
Sam’s head perks up, noticing Slender. He grins.‘’Slendy!’’ he squeaks. Slender stops for a moment and looks at him. A tendril reaches over and pats his head of messy curls. Sam giggles and Slender disappears into the kitchen again.
‘’’E’s comple’ly run off ‘is fee’, th’ poor bugger…’’ Jack murmurs behind you. You glance at him and he shakes his head, sighing. ‘’Ev’ry year ‘e does this, worries abou makin’ th’ day perfec’...wish ‘e’d jus’ relax fer once, ye know?’’ he looks down at you and shrugs, as if to say there isn’t really much to be done about it.
‘’y/n!’’ you turn around at the sound of your name being called. Standing in front of the kitchen door is Slendra, LJ and Slender’s third daughter. She’s short, but also taller than her older sisters. Her hair is fiery, turning from blonde to red at the tips, and she has small horns that curl toward her face. Her skin is a reddish-brown, with golden eyes and freckles across her face. She’s wearing a small red dress with a white collar and trim. She smiles at you, hands clasped together politely. ‘’Happy christmas!’’
You smile and step toward her. She runs over and hugs you. ‘’Happy christmas, sweetheart.’’ you murmur softly. She steps away and looks at the bag in your hand.
‘’Want me to take that?’’ she asks, polite as ever. You chuckle and pull it away.
‘’No, no. Those are the presents.’’ you wink at her. She looks surprised for a second before breaking into a grin. You can feel LJ’s eyes gazing intently at your back. He definitely heard that. You walk past Slendra and crouch down at the gigantic christmas tree. A bonus of having a big house with high ceilings. You take your gifts out, one by one, and set them under the tree. You glance up and see LJ is standing next to the tree, watching you intently. You giggle. ‘’You’ll get yours later, sweetie. Promise.’’ you chide. He smiles and laughs a bit before moving over to you. You let out a noise of surprise as he suddenly picks you up and carries you past the kids to the couch. You laugh a bit as he sets you down.
‘’Ya want anyfink, luv?’’ he asks. You think for a moment.
‘’A drink would be nice.’’ you say before glancing at Sam. ‘’Sweetie, do you want anything?’’
He looks over his shoulder at you. ‘’Do you have batteries?’’ he asks. Jack arches a brow and looks at you.
‘’He got a car from his grandma. It needs batteries.’’ you murmur. He smiles in understanding and nods before reaching into his sleeve.
‘’Sure, kiddo.’’ he pads over to him and pulls out a package of batteries. ‘’Le’ th’ girls pu’ ‘em in, okay? Don’ want’cha ge’in ‘urt.’’
Sam grins and nods, taking the batteries. ‘’Thanks Jackie!’’ he chirps before handing them off to Jasmine. Slendra walks past them as LJ disappears into the kitchen, sitting down beside you with a sigh. You tilt your head at her and smile.
‘’I like the dress.’’ you say simply. She looks at you and smiles. ‘’You been working in the kitchen?’’
She nods. ‘’Yeah. Mum needs ‘elp, and th’ twins are lazy soooo…’’
‘’I ‘eard tha’!’’ Juliette calls, glaring at you both. The two of you laugh. You listen to Slendra talk about her morning so far. She got some notebooks, a new dress from her uncle and a couple stuffed toys. You listen to her ramble about the lunch she’s been helping Slender make. Apparently she’s supposed to get more gifts, later, after everyone’s eaten. Slender and LJ must be saving some for when you and Sam came over. Considerate, you wouldn’t expect anything less.
"Ere luv," LJ's voice makes you look up from your conversation. He's holding a glass of champagne in one hand. He smiles at you and holds it out. "Budge up, will ya?" He moves over and takes a seat on the couch, putting himself in between you and Slendra. Definitely on purpose, as he ruffles the girl's hair affectionately.
"Pops! Be careful! If ye mess up me 'air mum will be mad!" She squeals, pouting. LJ laughs and looks at you.
"Kids, eh?"
You roll your eyes. "Tell me about it." You reply with a grin. You sip your champagne and look over at Sam and the twins. The car is up and running, and it's spinning around the floor in donuts. You smile a bit, watching Sam play with the twins (if by playing you mean listening to them talk his ears off).
The kitchen door swings open and you glance aside. Slender seems to smile. ‘’Lunch is ready, my dears.’’ he calls softly. You smile and get up. Jack takes your hand in his and tugs you into the kitchen. You can hear the twins behind you, still talking to Sam. He doesn’t seem to mind. He’s probably happy to be included in a conversation, especially with much older kids. The second you enter the kitchen you’re hit with the heavenly smell of fresh-baked pastry and roasting meat. You glance around, admiring the decorations before your eyes fall on the table. It’s practically a banquet, with plates of pastries, bowls of vegetables, a roasted ham and what you assume to be a casserole? You stare in wonder at the pigs-in-blankets before the sound of a cork popping makes you look up and over at Slender, who’s holding a bottle of wine. ‘’Do you want a drink, dears?’’
‘’I’ll ‘ave one!’’ Juliette calls with a grin as she sits down at the table. She ushers Sam to come over and sit between her and Jasmine.
Slender shakes his head. ‘’I know you do, Juliette.’’ he murmurs. ‘’You too Jasmine?’’ he asks. The girl nods. He doesn’t even need to ask Jack, he already knows it’s a yes. He looks over at you as he walks over to the table. ‘’y/n? Wine?’’
You smile and nod as you sit down beside Jack, across from Juliette. ‘’Sure.’’ Sam watches Slender pour out the wine and glances at you.
‘’Can I have some too?’’ he asks innocently. Your eyes widen with surprise and Jack wheezes beside you. The twins both cock a brow, looking at him in bemusement. Slendra watches him from her own seat, seemingly impressed by his brave ask.
‘’No, wine isn’t-’’
‘’Sure, sweetie,’’ you interrupt Slender, catching LJ’s eye and grinning slyly. ‘’One of the girls can give you a sip, can’t they?’’ you look over at Jasmine. Her eyes narrow at you for a moment, seemingly debating if she wants to go along with you or not. Eventually she gives in, holding her glass to Sam.
‘’Aight.’’
‘’Jasmine!’’ Slender practically shrieks, making LJ snicker. Slendra has to slap a hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing. Sam takes the glass from Jasmine and takes a small sip.
His nose scrunches up in disgust and he shakes his head. ‘’That’s icky!’’ he declares. Juliette wheezes beside him, leaning her hand on the table for support. You can’t help it- you start laughing too. LJ is the same, cackling with that infectious laugh that has Slendra giggling beside him. Slender folds his arms.
‘’You’re all ruining christmas.’’ he mutters before sighing. ‘’Slendra, Sam, do you want juice?’’
‘’Yes please.’’ they both chirp. The rest of you start eating, passing around plates and bowls. The food is delicious. The roast potatoes are cooked to a perfect crisp, the meat is juicy and flavorful and the casserole is apparently potato, cheese and chicken. The pastries too are perfect. Fluffy and crispy, filled with delicious vegetables and meat. This is supposed to be just lunch?
‘’I think I did the ham wrong.’’ Slender murmurs, breaking the silence. You didn’t even realise nobody was talking, you were all too busy eating. You glance at him in surprise. ‘’It’s a bit too sweet.’’
Jack rolls his eyes. ‘’Slen, ye did i’ grand. ‘Ones’ly, this is amazin’. This is good enough fer th’ bluddy queen.’’ he gives Slender a firm look and you nod in agreement.
‘’Yeah,’’ you pause to swallow the bite of casserole in your mouth. ‘’This is delicious, sweetheart. I don’t think I’ve ever had something this good! Definitely better than I can do, right Sam?’’
The boy nods. ‘’Yeah! You could never make something as good as Slendy’s cooking!’’ he chirps. Your smile drops.
‘’Gee, thanks.’’
The twins giggle on either side of him. You roll your eyes playfully and get back to eating. The food is amazing, as you expected, and the meal is fun. LJ and Slender’s family are always fun to be around. The twins poke fun at each other, LJ makes bad jokes and Slender always has a blunt comment to add that makes you and Slendra laugh in unison. By the time you’re finished eating, you’re stuffed, and dinner feels like an impossible task. Slender shoo’s everyone out of the kitchen, and LJ leads you by the hand to the living room and onto the couch. He pulls you onto his lap, nuzzling against your neck lovingly. He feels soft, like a giant pillow, which makes you giggle. Jasmine shoots you a dirty look, but it disappears when Slender walks into the room.
‘’Are we ready for gifts?’’ he asks. Sam and LJ’s heads snap up, looking at him. You laugh a bit.
‘’Think so.’’ you reply. You wriggle out of LJ’s arms and move over to the tree, crouching down. ‘’You guys mind if I go first? I uh- put a lot of effort into my gifts and wanted to make them really special…’’ you look over your shoulder and smile a bit. LJ grins and Slender nods. You smile and sit back on your knees, pulling out two of the presents. ‘’Uhh...these are for Slendra and Juliette.’’ you turn around, holding out the gifts. The two girls walk over, taking their gifts. Juliette shakes hers, since her gift is bigger, while Slendra kneels down and carefully unwraps the paper on her gift. She gasps and holds it up.
‘’No way!’’ she grins at you. In her hands is a small box, with transparent plastic on the front, showing off the bow-tie inside. In the centre is a bright blue gem, and on either side, several peacock feathers. She grins and looks down at it. ‘’This is so fancy!’’
You chuckle. ‘’Yeah! I saw it and- well I remembered that time we went to the zoo.’’ you smile at her. She chuckles.
Juliette suddenly squeals and you turn to look at her. She’s grinning wide. ‘’Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!’’ she squeals, picking up the box.
LJ tilts his head from the couch. ‘’Wo’ is i’, luv?’’ he asks, smiling in amusement.
‘’A nail kit!’’ she squeaks. ‘’L-Like in th’ salons! ‘Cept I can do i’ a’ ‘ome now!’’ she grins, turning the box over to look at the information on the back. You chuckle.
‘’I remember coming over here and hearing you complain about how expensive getting your nails done is so…’’
She looks up at you and smiles in surprise. ‘’Ye were listenin’ t’ all’a’?’’ she asks, her voice soft and taken aback. You nod and tilt your head.
‘’Of course I was.’’ you reply. She looks down at the box again and smiles wider. She looks genuinely happy. You grab the other gifts and stand up. One large, flat triangle and an elegant black bag. You walk over to the couch and hold out the triangular gift to Jasmine. Jasmine has always been a little...wary of you. You don’t blame her. You’re dating her parents so it makes sense. She takes the gift, unwrapping it curiously.
Her eyes widen and she gasps. It’s a large, heart-shaped eyeshadow palette. ‘’I’ve been savin’ up fer this!’’ she yelps. You catch LJ’s eye and he winks at you. Jasmine looks up at you and smiles, pressing the palette to her chest. ‘’...Thanks y/n. I luv i’.’’
‘’Ye be’er plan on sharin’ tha’!’’ Juliette calls. Jasmine purses her lips and narrows her eyes.
‘’...only if ye do me nails fer me.’’
‘’Deal.’’
You laugh and turn to LJ and Slender. You smile nervously and reach into the bag. ‘’I hope you guys don’t mind...I combined your gifts into one.’’ they both tilt their heads curiously as you pull out two small white boxes. You hand one to each of them. ‘’You guys are...really open about yourselves. I mean- the matching wedding rings, eheh- and I know I’ve only been dating you guys a couple months but...I wanted to get something that represents all three of us.’’
LJ opens his box and pulls out a small, gold necklace. He gasps. ‘’Oooh!’’ he grins, eyes sparkling excitedly.
Slender is more delicate as he lifts up his own necklace, examining it. ‘’Oh- oh! Oh, dear you shouldn’t have…’’ you can tell he’s really happy. His head turns, looking at LJ. ‘’Dear do you- know what the symbol on it is…?’’
LJ looks up. ‘’Eh?’’ he looks down at the necklace. ‘’I’s er- well i’s a ‘eart, and one ‘f em uh- infini’y symbols!’’ he looks up, smiling, seemingly proud of himself for getting it right. You laugh a bit.
‘’I mean you’re half right,’’ you murmur. He looks at you as you tug out the gold chain around your neck, revealing that you yourself have a necklace to match them. ‘’It’s an infinity heart...it’s a symbol for polyamory. It represents us.’’ you explain softly. LJ looks at you in surprise, then smiles.
‘’Awe...luv…’’ he grins and reaches over, pulling you onto his lap. You giggle and grab his necklace, fastening it on for him. He smiles proudly and pecks a kiss onto your forehead. You laugh again, blushing hard. Slender suddenly taps your shoulder, catching your attention. You look up at him.
He’s holding a small gift, wrapped in festive red paper. Curious, you take it and pull off the paper. Inside are two things. A picture frame, and a piece of paper. You flip over the picture and your face lights up. It’s a picture of yourself, Slender and LJ from one of your first dates. You smile. ‘’Awe...Slender…’’ you don’t even have to ask if it was his idea. This has his name written all over it. He pats your head, pleased that you like it. Your attention turns to the slip of paper. You grab it, flipping it over. Your eyes widen and you look up at Slender. ‘’A- a spa weekend…?’’
‘’Tha’ wuz my idea.’’ Jack says above you, sounding proud. You look up at him in surprise and he smiles. ‘’Ye work real ‘ard, y/n...fer Sam, fer me an’ Slen...ye deserve a break. Ta trea’ yerself.’’ he leans in close and kisses your cheek. His clawed hand runs through your hair.
‘’We can look after Sam while you take the weekend to yourself.’’ Slender adds. You look up at him, then back at LJ. You smile softly. ‘’We really care about you, my dear…’’
‘’Yeh!’’ LJ smiles at you gently and caresses your cheek. His expression softens. ‘’...ye are g’nna look after yerself, righ’ luv?’’ he asks. ‘’Cuz we care abou’ ye...a lo’.’’ he tilts his head, cupping your face in his hand. Slender’s hand rests on your shoulder, reminding you he’s there, and that he loves you. You smile gently and give a meagre nod.
‘’Yeah...I will. promise.’’

Dear John (Joe Mazzello/John Deacon x Reader)
A/N: Hi! I’m back from the dead haha! This is an imagine that nobody asked for! I haven’t been writing for a quite long time, so please bare with me and my grammatical errors. English is not my native language soooo sorry if this sucks but, I hope you’ll still enjoy!
This is based on Taylor Swift’s song, Dear John.
Tumblr media
You continued walking on while crying. You didn’t mind the pain in your foot. The cold wind started to seep through your white dress, making you shiver. But you couldn’t care less. You were too numb to think and feel about everything. You’re too hurt to complain. You don’t even know how many hours you’re walking, you just walked, to get away from him. To get away from them. You don’t want to see their faces anymore. You just want them to vanish in your life completely.
You finally reached your flat. The vast darkness of your room welcomed you; making you feel more alone. You wiped the falling tears briskly as you started moving to get to your bedroom. As you enter your bedroom, you saw your reflection at the mirror. Your hair was disheveled, your eyes are puffy. Your dress is a complete mess too.  Seeing yourself being so broken made you cried more. I should have known. You said to yourself as you cry. You propped down to your bed, still crying. You didn’t bother to clean up or remove your heels.  You just lay down there, staring at the ceiling while crying.  You wished you could vanish for a moment or just get numb for a while  and the feelings will just come back right after you feel alright.  But it’s not happening. You’re not vanishing. You don’t feel numb. You’re still hurt.
The exhaustion hits you slowly, making the vivid ceiling blurry. You were sleepy. With the tears streaming down your face, you slowly closed your eyes, finally drifting asleep.
“Oi!” you shouted at your best friend, Dana. The two of you met at the uni. She was a literature major who entered a wrong room the first day, and it was your room. She really thought that it was her room that she even chatted you about William Shakespeare. And after that day, the two of you were inseparable. “Where’s my guitar?!” you added. “It’s in the sofa you dummy! You better kill that performance darling!” she said, smiling at you. It was your big day. You’re going to perform at the pub called, Copacabana. You’re an aspiring singer-songwriter; you’re a music major at the university you’re currently studying in.
“You’re not coming?” you asked her. “I am going Y/N! Chill!” she said, as she finished putting her lipstick on. “What’s the use of that bloody red lips Dana?!” you asked her, laughing. “I might find a hot guy there you know.” she said as a matter of fact. “So you’re going there to find a hot guy?” you pouted.
“Don’t be a baby Y/N! Of course I’m going there to support you, finding a hot guy is just a bonus.” She laughed. “Now come on before you get late!” she exclaimed.
The two of you stood still in front of the pub. A big “Copacabana” in a neon light sign welcomed you. You’re starting to get nervous.
“Dana, I think I’m going to back down.” You told her, as you fiddle with the strap of your guitar. “What?! Are you crazy?” she asked you. “We didn’t drive here just to waste my gasoline. We are now entering this pub and you’re going to perform that song!” she told you, voice is filled with conviction as she tugged you towards the bar.
A small crowd welcomed the two you it was filled with students from the university you’re studying. Some of them listen to at the band on the stage, while some of them sit on the pub’s sofa while talking with each other. You started to get nervous again. What if they don’t pay attention to me? Or they didn’t like the song? You’re overthinking again.
Your thoughts are suddenly interrupted when a man tugged you while holding out your wrist.
“Holy shit!” your best friend shouted as you got separated from her.
“Oh my god please don’t!” you plead at the man.  You can see he was clearly, well, tipsy?
“I’m not really interested Sir, p-please I still have to perform!” you told him. He suddenly stopped on his tracks, body’s tensing a bit.
“Fuck.” He mumbled as he scratched the back of his neck. You can’t clearly see his face since it was dim.
“I-I’m really sorry, I thought you’re..” he trailed.  “Never mind, I mistaken you with someone else.” He added. He immediately pulled out his hands out of your wrist, apologizing again.  You felt like you heard his voice before but you weren’t quite sure where. You’re still stunned with what happened. Your best friend finally reached you.
“You bastard!” Dana shouted at the man, lounging a fist on his face. You immediately pulled you’re your best friend is a fucking black belter on karate, you don’t want to cause any scene. Getting kicked out of the bar that you’re going to perform is the last thing you want to happen.
“What?! This bastard needs to learn his lesson!” she told you, still mad. Some people started looking at you now. “Let’s just g-go Dana. Quentin is probably waiting for me.” You mumbled at her, while looking down.,
“I’m really sorry.” The man told you. “I don’t really have an idea, I mistaken you as somebody else.” He added guiltily.
“Just don’t drag anyone again if you’re not quite sure who are they.” You mumbled at him, walking away. You saw your best friend snicker at the man.
“What a fucking dick.” She said rolling her eyes. “Are you alright?” she asked you, voice full of concern.
“I’m alright!” you smiled, to convince her. But you’re actually a bit scared with what happened.
“Hey Y/N! Dana!” you heard a voice called, making you turn. “I thought you’re not coming! Come on, let’s go at the back stage!” he added. That was Quentin. He’s your classmate, and they owned this bar. He helps his father manage this pub as he study. He saw you had a lot of potential so he asked his father to let you perform tonight. He also performs in the pub sometimes, but managing it is his first priority.
You finally went on the backstage. Your best friend bid goodbye to you because she went on the crowd to watch you. You were really nervous.
“Y/N!” Quentin called you again. “You alright? You’re next after them.” He spoke softly.
“I’m kind of n-nervous.” You mumbled shakily. “First time performing.” You added.
“You can do it Y/N. I heard you sang at the music room the last time, and let me tell you. It was heavenly. So don’t get nervous. Everyone will love it.” He cheered you up.
“Thanks Quen.” You smiled at him. At least your nervousness eased a bit.  You finally heard the band performing bid they’re closing remarks. Shit. You told yourself.  It was finally you’re time to shine.
“Go get it Y/N!” he told you, as he pushed you towards the stage.
You finally walked down the stage. A lot of people are there, watching. You’re actually shaking as you fiddle with your dress.
“Go Y/N!” you heard your best friend shout in the crowd. You heard the crowd laugh a bit, making you smile.
“H-hi!” you started. You were very nervous. “I’m Y/N. And it’s my first time performing here.” You laughed nervously.
“Just start already!” you heard someone in the crowd. It made your heart beat double.  You’re already getting anxious.
“S-sing a long if y-you know the song. This is called Love of my L-Life.” You stuttered.
You closed your eyes as you started strumming down your guitar. You removed all the nervousness you felt, and you started pouring out the emotions you feel on the song. You started to get lost with music. It was your safe haven.
Oh, hurry back, hurry back
Don't take it away from me
Because you don't know what it means to me
“That was wonderful darling!” an unfamiliar voice shouted as you finish the song. You finally opened your eyes. The crowd was staring at you with complete awe. You finally bowed down after the song, rushing towards the backstage because you feel like your heart is going to explode.
“Oh my god, oh my god!” you shouted, still shaking. You can hear their loud cheers and clap even though you’re already in the backstage. It was a very fulfilling moment for you since it was your first time. Smiling like an idiot, you walked out from the backstage to meet your friends. Dana is waving her hands at your direction so that you can go to them but before you can go near them, a horde of people suddenly appeared and bombarded you with tons of compliments because of your performance.
“T-thank you,” you stuttered, still not getting used of the attention you’re getting. The crowd finally dispersed after they congratulated you. “Ah, finally it’s done,” you mumbled through yourself but before you can even walk away, you felt someone tap your shoulder.
“You had a great performance,” the man told you, as he smiled shyly. He is wearing a white shirt paired with a wide-legged pants. He has long brown wavy hair, and dark brown eyes. His nose is pointed, and his pinkish lips is curved into a smile. He almost looked like a girl to be honest and he looked good under the dim lights of the pub. You looked at him intently.  I know met him already but I don’t know where. You said at the back of your mind.
“Oh! I’m sorry for the incident earlier. I’m sorry for startling you, I mistaken you as someone else I know.” he told you, making your eyes go wide. You finally remembered him. He’s the asshole earlier ago!
“Yeah I know I’m quite an asshole earlier, I’m sorry,” he said, scratching his head. You covered your mouth from embarrassment. It was never your intention to say it out loud! “Just don’t do it again, it is never really nice to grab someone you don’t know,” you replied coldly, so that you can hide the embarrassment you feel.
“I’m really sorry,” he quietly said. You just nodded at him in agreement and finally turned your back so that you can go to your friends.
“I’m John by the way. John Deacon,” he followed up. And I’m not interested. You mumbled to yourself as you finally walked towards your friends.

DJ’s: YOU AREN’T PRODUCERS. TAKE THAT WORD OUT OF YOUR SOCIAL BIOS.
Possibly controversial opinion:
TLDR: DJ's: If you're not posting original music, edits, remixes, or anything of the sort. Please don't put "producer" in your SoundCloud bio. It's alot like that guy in High School who would say "Yea man I play guitar, I shred like, all the time" then you hand him a guitar and he just starts goin ham with a poorly executed and under-practiced "Smoke on the Water" or "Enter Sandman" opening riff. On repeat. The entire time he plays. Except with DJ/Producers you can't just hand someone a laptop to "hear them shred on a DAW" so its alot easier to get away with in our EDM world.
FULL RANT: There is a huge difference between "DJ" and "Producer" and there isn't a single thing wrong with just being a "DJ" and not both. People still need and want DJ mixes. There's zero shame in admitting that you don't, or don't know how to, produce music.
It only bugs me (and to be clear, it doesn't even bug me all that much) coz producers like myself and my friends spend countless hours learning and mastering our craft, so that title of "producer" is somewhat earned in my opinion. You can't just download a DAW and say "I'm a producer" if you've never once truly used it.
Producers create. DJ's mix. If your SC page is only mixes, you're a DJ. If your SC page contains original content/music you created yourself, then there's nothing wrong with adding that "producer" bit in your bio. Even if what you're posting is ID's, WIPs, ideas, bootlegs, etc. It doesn't need to be fully finished and mastered music.  If you created it, you produced it, you are a producer on some level (beginner/intermediate/TUNE GOD, etc)
If you're a DJ now, and are just now learning to produce, just wait until you start posting/uploading your tunes. THEN add that fabled "producer" title to your socials.
I'm also not alone. Myself and several of my producer friends have expressed at least some frustration towards the DJ's that both call themselves a producer in their socials and even (sometimes) out in public. It can definitely be a "wtf" moment (and this has literally happened to me before) when you are talking to someone, be it an Entertainment/Booking manager or a bigger DJ, telling them about your music and your work. Then another DJ shows up and starts doing the same. But you know that person, and you're aware of the fact that they've never made a tune or have even tried to start learning.
Now there's the possibility that someone who's never worked on tunes in their life could get the credit or booking that you were working so hard for, and they didn't spend a minute doing the same. They just happen to be VERY good at talking to promoters, knowing what they want to hear, and manipulating the truth to fit a narrative that will get them hired or booked. And this has happened to me. They ended up getting a better time slot than me as they grossly exaggerated their SoundCloud stats, and played a song to the promoter by an underground artist claiming that it was their own. I kept my mouth shut. I should have spoken up, but I didn't think his ploy would work and I was new to that particular local scene, I wanted to avoid burning bridges or looking salty/bad. His set ended up being really rough, he'd lied about knowing CDJ gear (he didn't), spent an hour trainwrecking almost every transition, the dance floor was empty by the end of his set, he left the venue in a hurry afterwards and I've never seen him since.
Unfortunately it's not like many local event managers actually care. They just want a good DJ, and they'll often believe you if you tell them you're more than just a DJ. They likely don't have a reason to doubt you, and often don't care enough to check the validity of those claims. Or maybe they don't even know the difference between "DJ" and "Producer"
So in in summary: DJ's. You're not producers. Not unless you make your own music/Unless you are a creator. And just for the record, opening a DAW, playing with Serum for a few minutes, and tossing a few loops into a bus/channel doesn't count. Take the time to learn properly how to write progressions/melodies, program sequences, mix-down your track elements, structure your tune and bonus points for doing it all without presets (learn sound design) and without loops (learn drum & pattern sequencing) If you have that DAW installed, you're already sooo much farther ahead than tons of others in your position. Hit up YouTube for some tutorials and you're on your way!
In Conclusion: Please. Please. PLEASE don't take credit for the kind of work producers spend up to 10-15 hours a track doing (my average time to finish a song entirely). You could cost a talented soul a gig or time slot they've been busting their asses for for years. There really isn't anything wrong with being JUST a DJ. Its a good thing, and still a valid and useful skillset with tons of work/gig opportunities. I played plenty of gigs before I really started calling myself a "producer". You may not get the best timeslots as compared to producers. But be honest with yourself, you could be a fantastic DJ, but who most deserves good timeslots at events? The guys with something to promote. A product to offer. And that product is their creative content/music/whatever. And that guy could be you, you just need to take the time to learn and work hard at honing your craft and skillsets.
Soooo take "producer" out of your bio if all you're posting is mixes and mashups. And if your bio says it, or you identify as a Producer, you better expect me to fuckin test you on it cause I will. Immediately. And if you don’t pull a home made, non-plagiarizing, ORIGINAL piece of creative expression/content out of your ass in that very moment then I swear to Cthulhu I will perform a social/career crucifixion (alot like “social/career suicide” except I do it to you) on you. Your ‘music career’ ends right there on the spot, ESPECIALLY if you play some underground artist and act like its your music and take credit for it. That’s just so far from ok. And I WILL notice. I was an underground non commercial radio DJ for over 2 years. and a lifelong enthusiast all around. Trust me. I will know. So just be honest with yourself, and others. Please, and thank you.
           - Signed, bedroom producers the world over.
PS - I’m SERIOUS guys. I won't stay silent next time. If I see a DJ try to take credit for another artists work (especially while talking to promoters, and especially taking credit for underground artists work) I will shut that shit down instantly. I will ensure they're instacancelled on the spot and won't play a gig in that area ever again. Plagiarism is NOT COOL. Don't plagiarize. Seriously. You will never have a career in music if you make Plagiarism a part of your “strategy for success” in the music industry. And I will personally work towards ensuring that. (example: I still to this day convert people to the cancellation of DJ Bl3nd. That POS blatantly ripped off so many artists, and is a perfect PERFECT example of a DJ claiming to be a producer. But isn’t. AND he used plagiarism + ghost producers COMBINED to make it seem like he was a producer) I don’t care if you do end up learning to produce after the fact and start making decent tunes.. If you plagiarize and try to use it to advance your career, I will do everything I can to stop you. For ever.
P.P.S. - For those of you DJ's who are learning to produce, don't take any offense to this rant its not directed at you guys, and please PLEASE don't get discouraged. You're likely not even applicable to this rant as you're actually working towards the title. So let me help you in that, below this text I'll be linking a few awesome YouTube producer channels who upload educational music/producer content. As well as some links to great sample/drum kits and more useful tools to help in your learning curve. I am also always available for producing tips and advice, just send me a direct message or comment on this post and I'll give you the best answer from my own experience/abilities/knowledge. Thanks for taking the time to read this ridiculous and stupidly long rant. I hope you can see where I’m coming from. And I’m sure many actual producers can agree with a lot of my points and reasoning. Have a good one. Peep my tunes if you have some time. Peace and deuces to all! -Anton Radke

Resources and tools for learning producers: Some production education channels on YouTube that I highly recommend:
Dylan Tallchief has some fantastic tutorials for many different EDM genres which cover more than just production. He talks in depth about music theory, sound design. All of it. He shows how to use both Ableton and FL Studio. HIGHLY RECOMMMEND this channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIu2Fj4x_VMn2dgSB1bFyQA
For rap/hip-hop producers, I recommend watching videos made by these two gentlemen:
Praxi Plays covers tons of genres/sub genres, and different styles of commercial, and less than commercial rap/hip hop music. He teaches using FL Studio:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAE7Doxo5WQRjLPz7JYa7Fw If you prefer darker, more underground rap music, or just less than commercial stuff in general, Based Gutta covers tons of styles of rap beats from the underground rap culture. He’s great, and also pretty hilarious. Also uses FL Studio. Oh and he does Lo-Fi stuff a whole lot as well:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTrrlfsv-5IBQ1SgPBawT3w
COMPOSERILY is also a good one. But a lot less serious. His videos are definitely more parody and satire than anything, but there’s still lots you can learn from watching him. Tons of useful stuff in his videos. He also does both Ableton and FL Studio depending on the song/artist he’s trying to sound like.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8Ujq8PBm0MWraaXd8MsIAQ
For drums and other samples, I highly recommend getting a Splice Account. Its incredible So many options! And you can download individual sounds. You don’t have to download an entire sample pack if you just want one kick drum that it happens to have which is great. A good brokeboi alternative would be Looperman. Its basically a discount/Wal-Mart level “Splice” style service but free.
www.Splice.com
www.looperman.com
Some useful sample kits I recommend getting for the sake of drum sequencing/programming:
XFER Pack by Steve Duda and deadmau5 (great for house and 4/4 edm genres)
BIGHEAD Sample Pack by BigHead (available on Splice) [great for trap/rap/hiphop]
literally ANY vengeance or cymatics sample pack will also be a great choice for practically any type of bass music. Face it. Bass music drums are boring and are all almost IDENTICAL from song to song (with the exception of the kick drum) so any Vengeance or Cymatics dubstep sample kit will do you justice here.
VSTs to consider: EDM: Sylenth1 (must have), Razor (underrated), Massive, Serum (must have), U-He Diva, Nexus (overrated but useful), Dblue Glitch, DBlue Tapestop, Engineers Filter (free, amazing Equalizer. deadmau5 approved), CamelCrusher, OTT (overrated but useful), Cthulhu (MIDI sequencer programmed by deadmau5, hella cool but confusing)
Rap Music VSTs to consider: Omnisphere. that’s it. I’m not kidding. A talented producer armed with Omnisphere, and a decent drum sample kit, who is very good at sampling and writing melody/progression can create THOUSANDS of Grammy worthy rap/trap beats without even once reusing an Omnisphere preset.  Its like Nexus. Except it truly doesn’t suck, and is worth the absurd price tag.

Note
Ok, I was gonna ask you about something else, but after reading the part 2 of the Mic and the exchanged student, I'm in DIRE need to see the part 3 where she has to start her hero career and she, obviously, need his help(not because she is not capable of starting it by herself but because she just needs him to continue to be by her side like it always has been)! Pretty please! Thank you! 💗
A/N: SKSKSK hOw cOUlD i sAy nO to tHat prEtTy PwEasE uwu. Haha yeah totally i’ll do this. Sorry if this comes out a bit late i’m working on some things. Thanks for requesting <333 Any requests let me know!
-So you know that bonus thingy i did in the last one? Where the parents were mean and all that? Well let's continue with that story line, I feel like that’s a bit more interesting for this!
-So i feel like after everything went down, realistically your parents would have forced you to come home and not contact Hizashi. Which sucks because he was the only one that really believed in you, And Japan became like a second home, even though your japanese isn’t the best and you may not look like everyone, you grew to love it and appreciate it. The thought of going back home to your parents stormed in your stomach
-Hizashi hated the idea too, he felt like your parents were mentally abusive and he really hated the idea of you going back. He talked to you and wanted to know if you wanted to get others involved and what not so you didn’t have to go back and leave the school. But you didn’t want to go through that whole process
-Besides you were “almost an adult” and soon able to start your hero career. You somehow convinced him to let it go and have faith you’ll be okay.
-”Alright Y/N, If you ever want it, you can always have a job under me and my agency. Even if you don’t wanna be a hero, you can work on my radio show.”
-Damn leaving Present was like the hardest thing. He was like a positive father figure that you always wanted and finally got, then when everything was good it got ripped away. It hurt so badly.
-Plus present took it so hard because he felt it was his fault, ‘Why did i have to say something?’ ‘It’s all my fault’
-Going back to your home country was like heck? Your parents forced you to stop with all this “hero mess” and made you go on a “more stable” path. They took away all your devices and stuff so you can “focus” but in reality they wanted to make sure you weren’t contacting Present or looking into hero stuff.
-Damn You’re really wishing you took Present up on that offer and let him help you stay
-You couldn’t work on your quirk or train so while everyone was asleep you’d do exercises and warmups Present taught you
-In those few years you were so miserable, and all you wanted to do was go back to japan and go on the path you always wanted to. You missed Hizashi and the friends you had made, Here you were lonely and tired, but there you had so much life and happiness.
-So secretly you were saving money so as soon as you get a chance, you can get away. So occasionally you’s ask for 20 or so dollars to get “books” or “go to the mall” when in reality you were just storing the money away in your secret trust fund lol.
-By the time of graduation you had enough money saved up to go travel, thanks to the extra help of graduation money from family members of course.
-As soon as you got home you brought a ticket, reserved a hotel and packed all you bags and left to the airport by the early morning. Whew you felt as if you were running from the Feds and for some reason that gave you a rush of excitement you hadn’t felt in a long time.
-finally you get to see Hizashi after all this time
-When you got to Japan, you went to the first place you could think of. Present’s agency. You couldn’t quite think of where else to get to him, so this was your first resort.
-Upon arriving you were so nervous. What if Hizashi didn’t even work there anymore?? What if he didn’t want to help? After all you kinda of cut him off even though you promised to keep him posted every once in a while. Although that wasn’t your fault but maybe he hated you for it?
-Either way it was too late now and you were already at the front desk, standing awkwardly standing
-“Hello dear, is there anything I can help you with?”
-“u-Ugh wEll uHhh???”
-“....“
-“....”
-“Do you have an appointment...or….”
-“nO...yeS? Haha i'm sorry, I'm looking for Hizashi Yamada. I’m an old friend and he told me to come here if I ever needed him..?”
-“...right...Your name?”
-“Y/L L/N.”
-“I don’t see you name under any notes or messages for him. By safety protocol I cannot let you up past this floor without a proper appointment or verification.”
-“Well is there anyway that I can leave him a note..with my contact and such? Or a way to set an appointment?”
-“Yes I can leave a note but I cannot guarantee he will see it and you can only make an appointment if you’re an endorser.”
-“Ah I see, Well I guess I’ll just leave a note then? Here is my name and number and can you just tell him I’m back in Japan. I need to talk to him.”
-“of course.” The lady at the front desk smiled as she finished writing the small note and moving it aside with the others
-You began to make your was towards the exit only to be stopped dead in your tracks when you heard an all too familiar voice boom through out the lobby
-“YEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH WHATS UP OFFICE LAAAAADDYYYYY! ANY NEW MAIL FOR ME??? HMM HMM????”
-Turning around, your eyes met the sunflower blonde male that leaned against the counter with a Gigantic smile across his face.
-suddenly a similar smile he wore, slapped across your face as you unconsciously shouted
-“H-hizashi?!”
-instantly his eyes landed upon you, yet his award winning smile vanished and turned into a tired expression
-ugh another crazed fan waiting at the front desk for him.
-except you weren’t, you were his most favorite person on the planet. However you looked so different. And he could hardly recognize you.
-For a moment he just stared at you with the utter most bleak face, until it hit him.
-“America?”
-“Mr. Hizashi!”
-HE IS SOOOO HAPPY SKSKSKSKSKS LIKE BRO HE THOUGHT HE WOULD NEVER SEE YOU AGAIN.
-HE SMILES SO WIDE AND LITERALLY JUMP HUGS YOU
-“MRSSSS. AMERIIICAAAA.”
-he has a moment where he pulls apart and just gazes at you
-i-is that tears in his eyes??
-awww so soft
-sMotheRs yOu In kIssEs (friendly forehead ones lmao)
-He’s just so happy to see you looking healthy and safe. He loves you so much, even if it’s been years.
-“I thought something bad happened to you, I tried emailing and contacting you but no response. Oh I’m so happy I get to see you again! Are you okay? Are you hungry?? Wait let’s go talk at a restaurant.”
-So you guys go to a restaurant and talk and reconcile about the past. Apologized for not responding and talking so long to come back.
-“No worries I’m just glad your here now! How has hero work been? Signed with any major companies.”
-“Haha um actually no not yet.”
-“WHAAAAT?! What are you waiting for?? I’m sure by now your quirk skills and everything has gotten waaay better now with all the training you’ve probably had there. I’m sure you’ll get signed just like that.”
-“Actually Hizashi. The last time I actually trained or really used my quirk was the last time we trained together.”
-He literally thought you were joking. No that’s not possible that was years ago.
-“No I’m serious, my parents wouldn’t let me do hero work after all that went down and they limited the use of my quirk. These past years I’ve been studying to be a pharmacist because my parents says it’s a more realistic job for someone like me and hero work is nonsense.”
-What no? They couldn’t of held a grudge that long? No you were on such a good path to become a hero. He was sure of it. The world really needed someone to step up, with the rise of crime and he knew you could do it. So for your parents to say “nonsense” was so unbelievably stupid.
-“What?” that was all he could muster hearing your news
-“yep! And I couldn’t respond to you because my parents took away all my devices, and gave me ones that were restricted and only for school research purposes. Everything about heroes or quirks that wasn’t related to Pharmaceutical Purposes wasn’t allowed. I actually saved up cash for years and gathered up the money I got from graduation to buy a ticket and a small apartment here. Although I’m sure my parents will be hot when they noticed I left the country, but at least I’ll be thousands of miles away and safe from their antics right? Haha.”
-He was so shocked. He didn’t think him telling off your parents and protecting your from them while you were in Japan, would cause them to go to such extremes. What kind of people?
-“Y-yeah. But don’t worry I’m alive aren’t I!” You laughed out
-He smiles at your attempt of optimism and nodded in agreement
- “Do you still want to become a hero?” He asked twirling his spoon around in the soup he earlier ordered
-“W-Well yes. Actually I do a lot, this world is becoming more cruel and I really hate sitting back and seeing these innocent people who can’t fight back get hurt everyday. But I know it’s hard but It’s something I really still want to do.”
-“Okay then, Y/N I’ll train you and help you become a hero. In the moring I’ll start paper works and a letter to get you into my company under me. I’ll make sure you become the hero you always wanted to be...that I always knew you could be.”
-“Wait are you serious.”
-“Only if you are. We’ll train in the early mournings and I’ll take you with me on patrol at night so you can get a feel of what it’s like. I’ll guide you Y/N and do better than I did before. I owe it to you.”
-And after that, that’s exactly what happened
-you guys were out on a morning run by 5 and working out at the gym around noon. Around 11 at night you guys were on patrol until 3 am. And this went on for months
-He pushes you harder than you possibly knew your body could be pushed
-You your quirk became much stronger and stable.
-teaches you different techniques and gives you pointers on where to go out on patrol and how to look for suspicious behaviors
-you’re under his company and training for about a year or so before you break off and go on your own. He makes sure you’re fully confident and he knows that you’re at a good spot beforehand though.
-You actually get signed under a big company and recruited for a few others all over.
-Before you left his wing, you made sure you thanked him for everything and that he was totally fine with it
-which he was
-He’s still always beside you though. You knew in your heart you still needed his guidance and his friendship in your life, and same for him. He really adores you and doesn’t want to just say goodbye. It hurt so bad the first time, he couldn’t imagine how it would feel departing again.
- He checks up on you everyday and make sure to go out to lunch every one in awhile.
-When you’re kind of lost or stuck or need a shoulder to cry on, he’s always right there.
-“Hizashi...I don’t know. Maybe my parents were right and I’m really not cut out for this. It’s so hard and I’m so tired. I just really want to cry.”
-“Hey shh, don’t worry you’re doing great. It just gets hard sometimes but trust me it’ll get better. I’m right here for you.”
-If you parents did come back to Japan and came to harass you or what not, Hizashi is instantly there protecting you and makes sure they won’t ever do that again. You are not going back to the U.S. with them, even if he has to get the legals involved he would.
-Send little gifts to him every so often as a thank you.
-You stay in Japan for the first couple years of your hero career but then branch out a bit to different countries
-collecting Souvenirs and postcards to send back to hIzAsHI
-When you become super successful he’s like “See Y/N, what did I tell you? You’re going to be fucking great.”

Aaaand Action! Part One, Part Two
A Trimberly AU by @5ivebyfive and @bluearrow126
Kim is a hot actress and everywhere Elena goes she gets mistaken for her. And.....Trini is an up and coming hit director.
Poor Elena would be so frustrated. Jane would obviously not know that Kim is a famous actress so Elena likes that shes more chill than most people. And Trini would see Kim having a twin as a cgi budget saver for any scenes that would need two Kim's lol
Lol and Kim would get pissy at Trini asking if Elena would come in.
Kim into the boss from day one.
What kind of films would trini direct?
Angsty young adult stuff?
Kim definitely tried takes over the set multiple times lmao
She thinks she knows better than everyone.
Trini in her director chair waiting for Kim to finish her little rant of why something should be one way over the other for a scene. And when she’s done Trini gets everyone back on track
Trini with that unimpressed look on her face. Makes Kim want to work harder to impress her.
She thinks Trini isn’t impressed with her work when all the other directors she’s worked with were, but deep inside Trini’s having a gay meltdown
Gay meltdown mixed with “is this chick for real??” Kim likes to flaunt herself and flirt in front of everyone, and Trini doesn’t know if she’s really flirting or just being an actress.
Trini always smiles watching Kim work when the set’s dark and no one can see her face
Tugs her hat low over her eyes. Slinks down in her chair.
It’s hard for trini to focus when they do
Usually late, in Kim’s trailer
She freezes when Kim reads this long monologue and forgets to read her own line after. The script reading turns into them talking for hours
And Kim’s just like “still with me?” All cocky.
“Kim, we’re supposed to be back on set in an hour and you haven’t slept”
“Well neither have you” with the usual Kimberly smirk
They always get closer the later it gets.
And then they both realize they have a morning shoot the next day at 3am lol
Lol, Trini gets worried they blew all their shots for the day. Starts to keep a distance after, even though the dailies look good. Cause Trini always has to bring some angst. Then Kim gets mad when she’s being ignored.
And Kim really doesn’t like being ignored especially by Trini lol
Goes extra diva during filming.
That’s when Trini learns about Elena. Elena has a pass to come visit Kim and just shows up at Trini’s side while Kim is filming and Trini’s like ?!?! OR Trini is walking around the studio and sees Elena and grabs her arm “Kim! You’re supposed to be in makeup!”
Kim lives Trini’s confusion
Kim just pops up. “Hey director!” Trini looks side to side “there’s....two of you?!”
Kim won’t stop messing with her lol
Kim just pops up. “Hey director!” Trini looks side to side “there’s....two of you?!”
Kim won’t stop messing with her
Of course not. And Trini just sighs and accepts it, but still gives Kim crap.
Elena just starts calling Trini director all the time from then on because she think that’s how she’s supposed to always refer to her lmao And the thing with Elena was the ice breaker kind of thing they needed for trini to stop ignoring Kim that day
And later that night when they “run lines” Kim just gets up in the middle of it and climbs into Trini’s lap and kisses her.
Trini doesn’t let it go farther than kissing and it annoys Kim lol.
And Kim gets extra diva lol
Trini reminds her that she’s technically her boss they’re technically in a workspace lol
Says she doesn’t wanna be that creepy director that sleeps with her actresses.
Kim gets pouty because she knows it’s not just that and Trini’s being her stubborn angst self lol
So she tries to convince Trini she’s not creepy and it’s okay.
Poor Trini does not know what she’s in for. Is Kim recruiting her sister for help?
She does not. Lol if it comes to that she will. Nothing’s off the table now.
Lol of course not, she won’t let Trini her away with this lmao
Nope. Determined Kim.
Jane should be a stuntwoman on the film.
Elena meets her on set when visiting Kim
So then she starts visiting more. Because Jane is hot, but Jane acting like a superwoman is even hotter.
Kim asks her why shes been visiting so much lately, Elena claims she likes hanging out with her sister but then Kim realizes what’s going on when Elena asks about a certain stunt woman lol
Lol and starts to pry. Talks to Jane and asks her personal questions to know her better. And Jane’s just like....go away loud one.
She smiles when she sees her walking over because she thinks it’s Elena and then realizes it’s the loud twin lmao
“Oh, it’s you”
Kim attempts to interrogate Jane who is mostly ignoring her
Jane really has no time for that lol
Then Trini gets jealous and thinks Kim is into Jane.
Kim goes over to Jane a lot more frequently trying to figure out what's going on with her and her sister and all Trini sees is Kim going over to talk to the tall gorgeous stuntwoman
Trini gets soooo jealous. Of course it’s Trini so she internalizes it and starts berating Kim over scenes in front of everyone.
Kim gets frustrated and snaps at the end of the day when they’re done filming and drags Trini to her trailer to call her out
Yesss. And Trini finally confesses, and Kim just stares at her, and Trini is scared she ruined everything.
Lmao Kim goes through all the emotions at that moment. "After everything we've been through you really think I was flirting with someone else?!"
Poor Kim. Trini just stares for a bit, doesn’t know what to say, then holds Kim’s face and kisses her. Cause she doesn’t know what to say.
Part 2
I bet every time a crew or reporter comes to get the scoop on the movie, Trini just flustered and quiet and doesn’t want to talk. Like she’s great as a director, she can explain things in her head and give orders, she can even talk to Kim privately, but interviews? She does not do. She does not like being in front of a camera whatsoever.
Kim likes to jump in and starts talking Trini up lol
Used to just talk about herself but the closer they got she talked about Trini more.
Kim definitely loves seeing flustered Trini.  won't let her live it down. especially after the first time she sees Trini giving an on-camera interview because she wasn't expecting her to get flustered like that
Cause Trini is so bossy and in control. Eventually Trini starts to loosen up a little when Kim’s there.
Kim teasing her that night after witnessing her interview for the first time “Awww miss big bossy director is shy”
Trini would be so in over her head.
All the bonus features with Trini are just...awkward and sad.
Every blooper of Kim has her laughing and looking towards Trini.
And later when Trini watches the featurettes she sees lots of Kim raving about her and calls her out on it.
Yesss and Kim wont apologize
There would have to be arguments on set. Heated arguments.
Watching them just gets trini riled up all over again
Calls up Kim “BY THE WAY-“
Then they resolve it, Trini hangs up and continues watching, calls again “AND YOU KNOW WHAT”
Trini doesn’t let it go. Though Kim would probably do the same.
Kim would definitely do the same
Ooof the fighting would be hot. Trini knocks on Kim’s trailer door late one night, Kim opens it and drags her in and pins her to a wall like “oh you think you’re the boss of me? Uh uh. I’m in charge now” single “eep” from Trini.
Trini’s used to being in charge for so long and Kim only let her because she was her director but then she snaps and takes charge and Trini’s in for it lol
Who wouldn’t be all for Kim in charge??
Especially trini lol
Trini might faint lol
Kim should learn that Trini hasn’t seen any of her favorite movies. Which are mostly cheesy teen flicks and old, cheap gore movies.
“Have you ever seen a movie ever??” “Yes, good ones”
Trini gets all film artsy and says “how can you watch that stuff?” Then Kim makes her watch it all and she loves it
“I’m not getting naked til we watch three of these”
Trini’s desperate and sits through all of them
And actually likes some of them.
Kim gets all proud “See I told you you’d like them” And like every director Trini’s a camera nerd and Kim loves that she takes pictures of her all the time lol
Kim would love that. Trini keeps trying to get Kim when she’s not looking but she always catches Trini and poses.
“Damn it Kim that photo was supposed to be natural!”
Trini would have like albums of Kim pictures.
she has an album with all the photos that Kim never caught her taking the pictures of. Kim is shook when she finds it
falls in love

my first listen reviews that no one asked for, based on first impression:
unforgiven: give me choruses. Please. prechorus is yummy though as usual. 6.5/10, but will probably grow on me
no return: it starts out with potential and the verses are onto something good but then the chorus hits and it sounds like something disney channel would release in a dcom in 2010. not bad, not outstanding, nothing really showstopping about it. 6.5/10
eve, psyche & the bluebeard’s wife: i wanted to dock off points for the lack of oxford comma but i’ll be nice and judge based on music only /j!! for real tho i. hate talking in my songs like i am here to hear SINGING! besides that i think it’s a pretty solid track, it definitely reads like a song they’d put in a setlist for the end of year awardshow as an intro performance or something. 7/10
fearnot: i love any titles concerning lampposts so it gains a point from me but no oxford comma AGAIN…..we’re back to no bonus points </3 the song itself is hmmmm i need to look into credits later but it read soooo american pop to me? its giving taylor swift in her old country pop days. i like certain parts better than others, prechorus makes me go :((( and chorus kills the hype for me but it’s a cute song. i always feel mean judging fan songs harshly so. 6/10
flash forward: songs to play at a concert where they’re riding around in those carts to say hi to the fans or they’ll have those cute sets where the members are just playing around while singing. 7/10 it’s cute
fire in the belly: fav song of the new releases omg. finally a song with some personality!!! their latin dance slay 🫶 i do feel the chorus falls a little flat though idk… or at least the melodic line lmao. bridge is good. 7.5/10
i wish lsrfm would go back to having real choruses for their title tracks 😭
