who up seeing their disorder in a fictional character but feel like its not their place to put a name on it
#id have to be waterboarded before i can talk abt how i see a lot of my adhd and personality in mitsumi iwakura let alone post it#idk how to talk abt this without feeling like im talking over or invalidating ppls experiences relating with a character#someone was talking abt how ppl tie laios' autism to special interest and social difficulties but not much else which kinda flattens it#and then went into a respectful in depth analysis of other autistic behaviour that laios exhibits and it wasnt phrased meanly#its fascinating and important to me to hear someone explain a little bit abt traits that they recognized and often go overlooked#because it does help me learn more about it. but i think thats also where hesitancy kicks in when it comes to depicting it accurately#like i have adhd and some of my adhd symptoms overlap with autism (time blindness and pattern seeking behaviour) but that only means#it feels familiar to me even without having autism. on top of that traits arent always cleanly determined as being /caused/ by#a disorder. to understand my environment i compare it to something unrelated but similar to make it more familiar and for the longest time#i thought that was a personality thing and not an information processing thing since i loved playing pretend in my head as a kid#so if you make a character who experiences that hoping to reach people that also experience that and tell them its not weird or#smth youre making up like. thats the goal. ppl who dont get it arent expected to it just means it doesnt cater to them but it helps them#become familiar to it yk? since i dont have autism myself i dont feel confident i can depict it properly or explain it in my own words#but that doesnt mean im trying to dismiss it or try and cut it out completely.. ill just leave the floor open to someone who /can/#a lot of issues around fanon depictions are when smth is baselessly popularized or a characters personality and behavior is flattened#especially to fit them into a trending meme. its harmless and its supposed to be for fun but it gets tricky when you drag things that#need to be carefully explained beforehand or else it gets lost in translation. like that tweet abt 'hyperfixating' on cooking pasta#once it becomes popular language usually the original meaning is left out for the sake of simplifying it for everyone that when it#circles back theres a sort of hesitancy like. am i using it the way it was intended or am i unknowingly using the popularized version of it#actually thats probably why i felt wrongfooted during diagnosis bc it felt like i was misusing the words i heard to describe what i felt#i /know/ i see a lot of myself in mitsumi because our minds are always somewhere else and we tend to put good faith first and for me#that personal connection is enough. but idk it feels like its always gonna have to be 'palatable' first before i can talk abt it openly#mad respect to writers and creators who stick to their story even if theres the looming fear of ppl misinterpreting it and letting them#have it.. its been almost 2 weeks and i am so close to deleting that m3 dunmeshi drawing bc ppl keep saying chilchuck wouldnt have 200 HP#IT LITERALLY SAYS I MADE IT WHILE WATCHING EP 1. i think about having a girlfriend more than a boyfriend in the future and i was wondering why because i'm bi and demiro so i don't have a preference i'm just attracted to whoever i'm friends with so logically it should be like. gender unspecific but i think its really just the fact that i desperately want to be visibly and obviously queer

okay fuck it i went to a leonardo da vinci exhibit today and now i have a leonardo da vinci death note AU in my head because i am a parody of myself so you can fucking have it i guess what do i even do with this
light yagami: young genius polymath who is good at literally everything
unfortunately for him he is a foreigner in italia (his family immigrated) so the government is not letting him anywhere near their weaponry projects. instead he does art. yes light yagami painted the mona lisa no i do not take criticism i’m in too deep
his portraits are predictably amazing. smash hit. soon aristocracy from all over italy is contacting him to draw them and their mother. this means he doesnt even have time in the day to draw giant fuckoff warship designs anymore. what point is there to life, he sulks.
eventually he accepts a commission from one kyosuke higuchi! we’re italianizing him because i really don’t think this AU works otherwise but let’s call him higuchi anyway. higuchi is a fifty-something duke of something or other who has recently married one misa amane who is twenty-something (the same age as light). misa is the subject of the portrait because higuchi just loves his darling wife so much (read: they had a shotgun wedding and higuchi needs to keep up appearances)
light is like wow someone who isn’t white it’s been like five years. i kind of feel bad for her, this situation is very suspicious. hello miss amane if you’ll just sit down over there while i get my brushes
misa (seeing the first person who has been even remotely sympathetic to her absolutely horrific life, noticing he hasn’t tried to make any advances on her at all [this is a good thing]): I AM DRASTICALLY IN LOVE WITH YOU.
light: what
misa’s plan of seducing light predictably fails because he’s light, so she explains she has to get the fuck away from higuchi somehow
light is like okay well i am sorry to hear that but what does this have to do with me.

so light’s plan is now to worm into the yotsuba court to get funding and hopefully sway them enough to let him pitch his cool weaponry ideas so he can Change The World. he does need income in general too (both for himself and his family; expected lifespan was way shorter then obviously).
misa’s plan is to kill higuchi somehow which will be much easier with light as backup she thinks
so. light packs up and moves to the yotsuba court which is thrilled to have THE light yagami portrait artist (i do more than portraits…) in their employ
oh yeah, misa mentions, the prince of the yotsuba court is kind of… weird
light: you could have told me this before
misa: ehe. dont worry about it!! it’s just um. he had a weird personality shift a few years ago? and now he refuses to wear royal attire. he always dresses like a peasant.
light: well it’s not like i’m going to be there to judge him on fashion am i.
THAT’S RIGHT. SIKE THIS IS AN ISEKAI NOW. yes L does remember light killing him <3 he (L) woke up in fifteenth century renaissance italy in a twenty-something-year-old body immediately after the heart attack. by some miracle he already knew italian.
so everything is going swell until one day light walks into his workshop to find the prince flipping through his notebook
light, sleep deprived: hey what the fu—i mean. uh. good morning your highness

on the contrary i find it completely readable, as long as one reads backwards and caesar shifts it three letters forward.

ryuk is the patron light eventually gets after being in higuchi’s court for a bit
rem is higuchi’s personal assistant, who was disowned by her own royal-blooded family because her family sucks. she hates her job. if it weren’t for misa she’d probably be on the other side of the country by now
i don’t know where the wammy kids are. they’re definitely competing to be the heir to L’s throne but also they’re not related because there is no way that all the wammy kids (the whole orphanage of wammy kids) could have come from the same person. maybe some kind of insufferably high collar royal boarding school? did they even have those? help me
kiyomi and teru are both advisors in other courts (which are extremely corrupt, light seethes, in his perfect world there wont be any of those anymore) (you work for a court light) (thats different)

HIII. can i just say. absolutely ADORE your gravity falls stuff!! i'd love to hear more of your headcanons (especially abt gideon) (that's my SON)
yes yeeees i was part of the Original Wave of Gideon Enjoyers back when like, episode 4 aired and it was about ten blogs who didnt hate his guts. i mean, i still want to throw him out a window, but I also think he has really interesting character stuff going on that some people just didnt wanna look at bc they hated him! which like, fair, he's a villain, but that freaky little dude will always be one of MY faves, haha
this post got. very long im sorry I had to put a readmore here haha but I haven't had an excuse to infodump about this for ages so here's a couple Things I like Thinking About... also a doodle I did the other night to break up the wall of text below
ok ok to start i LOVE him so much as a foil to dipper (and to an extent ford too) as examples of what the journals/that kind of power and information can do to people. its why im so adamant that he does actually have albinism, even if its not Technically Canon. dipper and ford both have a like, 'physical oddity' about them (birthmark, sixth finger) i think it makes sense for gideons to be his albinism as something that set him apart. all three are 'weirdos', were ostracised to an extent by the world, had that longing for something special or important, and then found it. and its what they DO with that which sets them apart
especially as a foil to dipper like... from time to time in the show, he gets a bit gung-ho about abusing the journals power for his own gain. but he has friends and family to reign him back in. he has more of a moral compass about not wanting to hurt people, generally. dipper never became like gideon did
this is getting into headcanon territory here but, my general summary of gideons childhood is an isolated one. only child, fairly sheltered, had some medical complications early in life which led to a lot of time on his own in hospital, attended school briefly and was subjected to significant bullying. and without a real support network outside of his parents who were very doting to the point of spoiling him because hes their Little Miracle he wasnt exactly well-adjusted even as a kid
but basically, that kid ends up finding this journal and learns about spells and evil artifacts and suddenly he has the power to make people like him. not only that but Fear him. he goes from feeling powerless to an absolute ego-trip. and his only close relatives would never tell their little boy 'no' about something, so they're not disciplining him in any way. its a perfect storm for a disaster to happen
it stems from this childish desire to go 'look at me im important and special and everyone likes me' and hes become so embittered already by people being dicks that he doesnt care if he hurts people on the way
that only really changes when mabel shows up and is the first person in town to approach him from a like... normal level. shes nice to him but not in the overly-saccharine and doting way his fans are, just in the way a girl who wants to be friends is. she treats him normally and is nice and he thinks she's pretty and that ALSO becomes a perfect storm of 'well shes nice to me and i like her so i must be in love with her and she is with me!' and, of course. kid who has never heard the word No before. so the later rejection becomes a HUGE sticking point and grudge to the point of being flat-out murderous
later in life with a little Introspection i think he'd realize it was less love and more just. basically imprinting on the first person to be normal and kind at him in years
UM. I should wrap this up i have so much in my brain. gideon was one of my earliest roleplay muses i'd write and draw with my pals, so I subjected him to a LOT of personal characterization stuff and also making a thousand AUs for fun. (aus always come in two flavours either its 'im going to make you marginally more well-adjusted' or 'im going to make you so, SO much worse')
ive got a soft spot for con-men and fake psychics and generally shitty little weasels and gideon just stormed into the show being a jerk with an aesthetic i adore and i was like ahhh. i want to punt him. hes my favourite.
ok im going to shut up now. last minute headcanon. gideon got into wood carving in prison art therapy because using a knife to stab something in a non-murder way helps soothe his urges. he whittles little people figurines

also sure idk if these will be helpful but these are things that help me:
smut:
i think the cardinal rule of smut writing is if it doesn't make you horny, re-write it until it does. lol.
i am a very visual person so i like to close my eyes and imagine the scene before i write it. not just going through the motions either. if this is me, reader, what am i thinking, feeling (both physically and emotionally).
5 senses (touch, taste, smell, sound, sight) should be covered. not every action needs all 5 but if you are describing something you should at least be hitting two of these. " tears falling, you cry out as he enters you slowly" is fine but "blinking away tears you hiss from the overwhelming stretch of his girth entering you, even slowly, proves to be too much" is better.
sometimes i need a boost and if you partake then a few puffs from a weed pen or a glass of wine (im partial to bubbly) will put you in the MOOD lmfao.
*note i dont think you need to have experienced something to write about it, sex included for any virgins however in lieu of that, with anything you don't have experience in, you need to do research to make it believable.
dialogue:
use dialogue to tell us/reiterate who the character is. you can tell us the character is nervous but then its highlighted by the stuttering, rambling, etc of their spoken words.
break up long dialogue with descriptions. this is also a pacing tip. also can insert memories, i will have readers have a whole dialogue and in the middle their will be a relevant memory to give context and insight to the character and their motivations.
using subtext to explain character feelings, you dont have to be so explicit with dialogue all the time. instead of a character saying "im so fucking mad at you right now," use "alright" your voice is clipped, flipping your hair over your shoulder you go back to your task at hand, not even sparing them another glance.
i rarely use explicit dialogue tags now like "said, spoke, cried, yell" i will still use them but ill weave into the description that follows. ex instead of "please stay!" you cried—i would write—"please stay!" your lip quivers as tears gathered on your lashes.
action:
the last subtext tip also helps with action too, alot of times its what we see that really enriches the dialogue so "show" dont "tell".
this is also a pacing tip but during high action/intense scenes using shorter sentences helps express the urgency. although it all depends as long sentences/paragraphs too can help build tension, slowing down descriptions/actions during the climax (lol non sexual) of a scene builds anxiety/thrill.
explaining emotional reactions of heart racing, sweaty palms, etc, is just as important as physical reactions (even tho these are physiological actions they still are emotion driven).
pacing:
besides the pacing tips above in the other sections i think the biggest pacing issue i think people have is adding in details, actions, etc that don't inform your story. everything action/thought you take time to elaborate on that your character does, should be relevant to their motivations, story or characterizations. if it doesnt apply to one of those then cut it out. (note: sometimes it does apply and needs to be cut out and moved another section if its making a scene go on to long)
edit your stories, i know some people post and go and thats fine. everyone has different goals. some just want to get out thoughts and go. however, pacing can be hard to effectively capture on the first go so you will need to reread at least once to ensure your fic is properly paced.
editing leads into eliminating redundancy. often i will write something where i expressed an emotion/feeling then did it again a paragraph or two down the line just in a different way. unless that feeling is evolving, its redundant. redundant doesnt mean the feeling isnt applicable in both places, it means ive already established this feeling/state of mind in my story and it isnt needed both places. this can be one of the hardest things to identify or even fix. however i think my fics are 100x better when i do.
descriptive:
i think people fall into one of these buckets, 1) having the inclination of being overly wordy descriptive or 2)not being descriptive enough. i am the former, so my issuing is editing is pulling back and giving emphasis on somethings but not others. if you arent descriptive enough you will have to decide where in your story its important to give emphasis.
use metaphors that make sense to the person speaking or narration style. you wouldnt use overly flowery language for example if you were writing how sukuna is feeling about something lol.

I just can't wrap my head around the narrative purpose of Nina. Her characterisation was lacking, she didn't leave any memorable impression I even forgot what she was about other than a leverage for Johan or a refuge in a way.
Her motives were not really mapped out well I feel like the author could've expanded on that more. It overall left a bad taste in my mouth.
What do you think?
About Nina;
I agree with you. I read a lot of Nina metas and i understand what she was supposed to symoblize (Nina; human, Tenma; God, Johan; Devil) but i think Tenma fits the role of human anyway and it doesnt work in Nina's case because she is not some random victim whom Johan killed her parents. She is her brother so her forgiving him at the end (especially when she already forgave other villains) doesnt work out as 'act of love'.
So the reason I think she isnt much memorable to you, thats because she is too similar to Tenma during the series.
They are good people who helps others
They investigate Johan separately but somehow at the same time.
They both project their inner monster on Johan so they think killing him will solve everything
Both use guns
Their interaction with Dieter is same
Everyone loves them
They are the only people Johan cares about and only people he lets them live Though Nina is different, her personality is more expressive and extrovert but this side of Nina is barely seen. Only at the beginning and ending. Tenma's character and ideals makes sense for his character because he is a doctor, also why he is obsessed with Johan but Nina as Johans sister, she couldve been different. More personal, more obsessive.
This is the problem with writing "good people". Her place in story is also mess and kinda replacable....yes, even though she is Johans sister. When i said replacable, i mean a lot of scenes were just there. Even if she wasnt there, nothing would change.
After not being able to meet her, Johan never go after her. He is more obsessed with Tenma, not Nina.
After escaping from her brother, she didnt need to meet Neonazis. Another character would stop the bomb and Tenma would see Johans writing anyway.
Her training from sugar man is just side character story, couldve been Tenma and same with meeting old cop. It couldve been Tenma who met the guy and nothing would change.
Even if Nina didnt come library, Tenma still wouldnt shot Johan. Her "dont shot him" scene with Nina has no build up and cringe. Johan didnt even interact with her at all in that scene and Nina also doesnt attempt to talk with her brother. She literally acts like random cop who suddenly appeared in the scene.
Other characters learnt "nameless monster" book, or 511 or the mansion etc on their own.
Nina remembering her flashbacks, or learning other book stories etc was important information only she knew but she never shared those informations with other characters. Its almost as its just written for audience to learn, to understand Johan.
Her interaction with Johan at broken house, that was meaningfull. That was only them after all but that scene didnt change anything for Johans plans. Johan was already remembering his memories and planning his suicide anyway. Only usefull information is that Nina found out Johan will kill himself but neither Nina and Tenma cared that information enough to do something different. Then at the end everyone find a way to find Franz's town.
At the end, another usefull and important flashback we get with Nina. Only Dr Gilleun heard this but its not like he did anything about it. Then Nina ran to Johan and told him she forgave him. Of course. Of course, it is important but its not impactfull (for audience) if Nina can forgave other characters. And once again, this doesnt stop Johan.
And no, Tenma wouldnt shot Johan even Nina didnt come. Even Nina didnt tell him to save Johan later, he would still save Johan. Literally any other character could say that.
And at the end, Nina lives her life again just a normal girl. Tenma is the one who is with Johan and his words 'You had a name' is what saves Johan at the end.
I am not saying she isnt important character. She is but as character, she didnt change things much, even though she shouldve as main heroine. She shouldve played more role that affects things around her, especially her interaction with Johan. But it didnt.
We could maybe say the same thing for Tenma or other characters but not really. There is already a certain role Tenma symbolize, humanity, saving lifes and most other characters are just side characters. But thats the thing. Nina isnt meant to be side character. She was supposed to be main heroine but even characters like Lunge and Eva, even they mess up or dont do much, they are still more memorable because their invidiuality shows itself. They affect the storyline in their own way.
I think we shouldve seen her inviduality more rather than her just going after on her own. I mean, on her own way, different than Tenma. Most importantly, i wish we shouldve seen her love for her brother, her family (Fortners) but her connection with them, our connection with people shows us who we are. Maybe she shouldve traveled with Tenma, then their connection would makes sense. And definitely we shouldve seen more about the her connection with Johan and her memories as Anna and after remembering, it does affect her so she shouldve done something to affect things around her as Nina, as heroine but none of these happenned.
So i understand why she can be forgotten because we dont see much of her really. And thats a shame. I wish she has done more, and more on her own way, more different than Tenma, more personal because its her brother but she acts like they are strangers so well. I think she isnt well written.

scummy milo variant... aka a milo tailored for my questionable tastes. more about him under the cut
1) i think he would definitely be a variant of manipulation milo since this one relies on manipulation too. except instead of coming off as friendly and inserting himself in social circles this one would embrace this kinda emo or whatever look and a bad reputation because it makes him more attractive in a bad boy way
2) he plays with peoples feelings when they fall for him, using them to get money and information/blackmail on other people. he weaponizes his charms to get to people and once he got what he wanted and theyre no longer useful he throws them away and moves onto the next person
3) hes only doing this for eris of course. he has a tattoo of eris' initials in a heart on his neck (which would be really painful to get) to show his devotion. he may lie to his "lovers" about breaking up with eris to placate them but in the end theyre less than filth in his eyes; just a means to an end and nothing else. he absolutely despises when hes asked shit like "me or eris?" because he cant lie about that even if he must, so he often just says dont bring them up again and shuts the person down
4) unlike m milo, this one would be more willing to resort to violence if needed. hes not as violent as violence milo, but hes not particularly averse to it either. pick a fight with him over him stealing your girl or whatever and he will be knocking you out cold within 30 seconds and moving on with his day to smoke. he does frequently work out; maintaining his physique is important for his attractiveness after all (and the fights that come with it)
5) high alcohol tolerance. he gets people drunk to get information out of them. his size (and the fact he drinks a lot) mean he can hold his liquor well. after all, he himself cant get loose lipped. thats reserved for his victims. he needs to be sober to catch all the dirt they spill when drunk. besides he cant get himself into a vulnerable position like that.
6) probably almost got expelled multiple times, but he has his ways of keeping everything under control (blackmail)
7) cross him and youll face one of two fates: seduction or blackmail. i lied theres a third: getting your ass beat and thrown in the woods where no one will find you
8) lifeless eyes. his eyes only light up when he looks at or talks about eris. drops off everything he earned at eris' feet like a puppy and nuzzles up to them after a long day of being a bad boy. he will only get soft around them. he refuses to take orders from anyone else
9) really assertive. probably the most assertive of all milos, or up there with violence. he has manipulations confidence and violences ruthlessness, so he really has little to no fear outside of losing eris. nothing else makes him feel threatened nor embarrassed.
10) grew to overcome his fear of insects and even started liking spiders. he likens himself to one, catching his prey no matter how much they struggle, meticulously weaving inescapable webs.
11) probably acts averse to cute things, but he does have a soft spot for them secretly, especially bunnies. he looks back at his past self, pre, and feels a hint of fondness and pity. he doesnt dislike who he used to be even though hes nothing like that anymore. if pre milo was his own individual and existed alongside him, he would treat him like a younger brother and stand up for him.
12) really protective. has this death glare that communicates he will really throw your mutilated body in the ocean if you go anywhere near eris. probably really possessive of eris and, ironically enough, hates being touched or looked at by people other than eris, but will still tolerate it for his end goals.
13) while he may have no sympathy or reservations about what he does to his victims, he does feel a bit guilty when it comes to people who remind him of his past self. it wont stop him; nothing would ever stop him when eris is the one asking this of him, but were it up to him he probably would have some mercy on these types of people. he doesnt, though.

ok ok i wanna talk about this at length and not on twitter where i can say like three sentences but i think a lot about how femt will sit around and say how humanity is just awful and disgusting but theres SO many times he seems to be rooting for them. like here how he Let Leo Go. he just let him leave. "he said he didnt wanna play so yknow. He Left." and he yells about how Of Course Hes Not Gonna Kill Leo. leo was so important to stopping the second collapse and femt just let him leave and then when he explained this to despair who is like Dude Why Didnt You Kill Him Or Leave Him There femt seems to be pretty genuinely concerned about despairs wellbeing and. general depression.
then there's in the ova where it's most obvious. hes running around trying to stop this restaurant from being destroyed which Just So Happens to have libra in it. tells leo to forget he was ever there. "i dont need a reason to help them out" femt i am shaking u
and THEN !!! theres curious. curious is fascinating to me for several reasons but i think its really interesting that femt seemingly shows up for no other reason than to Get Curious. wants to take him home for whatever reasons (i have thoughts on this but its too much so maybe another post). but then they immediately start fighting and it really seems like femt is just trying to keep curious preoccupied, buying time for libra to do something. he doesn't really have any reason to get into a petty fight with curious. then when curious is about to attack steven and klaus, femt IMMEDIATELY gets eve and odd to attack him which leaves them in pieces, ultimately ending up letting steven klaus and chain get the upper hand. and then femt just Leaves.
AND THE CALAMITY AUCTION !!! my favorite femt scene. pretends to be the president to break klaus out of jail as hes the only one who can really do anything about whats going on. and later when hes revealed to be the "president" klaus is surprised that someone like femt would even bother to get involved, cuz why WOULD he get involved?? hes constantly saying how worthless humanity is but here he is, actively trying to help. this pisses femt off who attacks briefly but just. Leaves. Again. destroys all the cameras in the room too. god forbid he be seen trying to help out a bad situation
which brings me to the light novel!! as i've said i've been translating it and theres a lot of interesting things. femt talks about how he feels extremely isolated from humanity and when people try to get information from him he just cant understand why they would ever want to be him or have what he has, cuz he clearly has..... Lots Of Issues! it's almost like he's so worried about what will happen to humanity if he isn't there to save them or on the other side of that he has to keep. testing humanity or something. he puts them through his games but even libra admits that theres a line he wont cross. they prefer to deal with him over Other Threats because while hes mass murdering lunatic he still wont. you know. Kill Everyone. unlike curious. i think femt and curious are being set up as foils and i have lots of thoughts on this but theres just too much to say about those two...
tldr i think femt cares a lot more about those around him than he would ever let anyone know. yeah he'll murder hundreds of people but the second hes faced with someone in person that he cant just pretend is part of this vague crude idea of humanity he has in his head its like something clicks in his brain that this is a Real Person and now he suddenly cares. he seems to have this recurring idea of humanity killing themselves or being unable to save themselves which leads him to Extreme Violence and when he helps its like he doesnt want to admit that he cares in some way. hes constantly distancing himself from everyone and i think he should go to therapy <3

I just need to get this out.
I just watched a video giving opiniated views on AOT characters and the views given on Hange is so stupid. After doing a few research on analysis for Hange, I realised that there are not a lot of in-depth analysis of her. Most of what I read are about her achievements, habits and behaviours. Perhaps I am not searching in the right directions but knowing that there are people who dont know Hange, and disliking her just because there is a lack on information/ back story on her, it is so unfair.
So I need to get this out. Like it or not, this is my views of Hange, and I will try to be logical and rational as much as possible.

First and foremost, we need to know that Hange is the ONLY major character that we have no personal background story on. Even characters like Pieck and Annie, who appeared lesser than Hange throughout the whole story, were given a backstory to explain the reasons for their actions or choices. This means that we get the chance to understand them, empathise with them and thereby making a more holistic judgement on them and their choices or actions.
We do not have that chance with Hange. We only see her choices and actions. Hence, without understanding the why and underlying reasons for her actions, we can only judge her based on what we see only. Blame it on Isayama and not Hange.
Which is why most of the analysis I read are mostly about what we can see in the mange and anime: her optimism, her eccentricity, her compassion, her self-esteem etc etc. But we cannot link the "why" to all of these that we observe in her.
Honestly, another character I think is in a similar position is Armin. Both of them just have that drive, which is difficult to have an explanation to. Like, they are just like that.
Hence, Hange's character, in my opinion, is someone who, if you get her you get her. You cannot logically analysis her completely but if you know, you will love her. She is written in such a way that you have to experience intuitively.
So I am going to start this post now....

1) Pre-104

4) Rumbling.
I may get lost along the way but perhap will tidy up this in time to come.
And now, I would like to introduce the 3 men that are important to Hange's character:
Not them but they are definitely important.

1) Pre-104 and Pre-Basement
Now, I am going to compare Hange during the Pre-104 period and Pre-Basement period.
Essentially, we know that pre-104, Hange was first driven by hatred and anger towards the titan. But somewhere along that time, she decided to change her perspective and took on a different approach in the war against Titan. She is on Humanity's side very clearly.
The moment shifted when 104 came. First, there is new info of Titan-shifters, enemy shifters, Wall titans etc. All these changes happen in the span of 1-2 months (from the Battle at Trost to 57th expedition to Stohess batte). Comparing to what Hange and the Survey Corp had tried to seek and understood for so many years, this transition is important.
No one knew what is going on but I think this is the start of Hange's transition back to Pre-104 period for her.
Essentially, Hange is brought back to where she had to fight the Titans enemies with hatred and anger. Of course we do not have the reasons for why but she is very consistent here. She is tough and will not hesitate to resort to violence for the greater good- Humanity
I just want to insert a scene from Levi explaining this in the manga (reminds me of the part where Hange said she wanted everyone to feel safe. This also tells me that Hange is terrified knowing that Humanity can be enemies too):
"Choosing the hell of humans killing each other over the hell of being eaten....That way all of Humanity doesnt have to be damned"
This is very very deep. (Foreshsdowing cue on Eren's intention of thr Rumbling)

Nick here, kind of represents the Titans that Hange used to hate, but now seek to understand. You can see the parallels in Hange treating Nick and Titans in both the Pre-104 and pre-basement timeline. If she cant understand the situation herself, she make Nick understand the situation himself so that he can disclose the information. And in the process, she values them (Titans and Nick).
2) Pre-Basement
The next important man is Sannes, because this is when Hange started to realise the real enemy. Are they the titans? Shifters? What is humanity actually?
Nick kickstart a new realisation for Hange as she transits from knowing "humanity vs titans" to "humanity and friendly titan vs unfriendly titans" to "friendly humans vs hostile humans".
This scene which didnt make it to the anime gives a hint of Hange's future struggle with the violence in Humanity when the story later unfolds that humans will continue to kill one another.
This is very similar to Armin's speech when the 104 listened in to Sannes' torture.
Now, I have seen people commenting that Hange has not qualms about killing people and even titan after she knew that titan are actually human. And for that they did not like her decision to stop genocide, aka she is hypocritical.
Now, if you understand Hange's perspective of Humanity, it would be much more clearer that she is all for the bigger picture. For Humanity to survive and be free. Sannes and the king, on the other hand, is for Humanity to submit to the titans and accept any retributions that come.
Hange's Humanity perspective start to transit during her interactions with Sannes because it is a different belief she has to build upon her bigger goals now. Which type of Humanity is she on? Just like Armin's speech: Humans can be enemy because they have different beliefs.
Remember how Nick brought Hange back to the feeling of terror pre-104? Sannes gave Hange the opportunity to re-examine how she should respond to this new threat: human with different beliefs. Which is why I like her kicking of table scene so much. She is thinking and digesting a lot of what is going on. We dont see it but I think, we can feel it.
So pre-104 and pre-basement Hange are similar.
- She faced an enemy (Titan/ Humans), she respond emotionally and with violence (Titan's head football, Nick over wall, torturing Sannes)
- Given time, she eventually change the way she view her enemies (Titans, Nick, Sannes).
3) Pre-Liberio
So, after the basement and killing off all titans so that humanity can be free of the walls (I mean what can she do to those mindless titans right? They still possess a risk to humans if they cannot be restrained like Connie's mother or the baby titan), I feel that Hange reached her golden period.
I think that this is where she is most at ease with herself. Pre-104 period, once she is sure of how she wants to view her enemies aka Titans, she goes all out to experiment and understand them. Similarly after Basement and Pre Liberio, Hange now seeks to understand other humans, instead of titans now. Onykopon is the person that gave Hange that opportunity to be curious about human and their intelligence now. So we have her probing at guns and cars and what-not.
Hange at this stage is still on Humanity side but she does not differentiated them. I think she struggles with the idea of Humanity controlling the power of titans by giving up and sacrificing human lives. It is quite contradicting and we see Hange trying to understand once again, the Humans now.
I think Onykopon understood her and supported her as she tried to figure out what Humanity wanted.
I think her inner speech here is so important to understand that Hange is always on Humanity's side. I think many have pointed out she is always pro-life and she seeks a win-win situation, which can be idealistic, but at the least she tries to avoid a lose-lose situation. She is not being a coward at all.
4) Rumbling
I think many people just thought that she had changed after the timeskip and may dislike her for being wishy-washy about many decisions here. But if we follow Hange throughout the story, she always seek the way of understanding. She is going through a transition herself of understanding the world and she does not have the luxury of accessing anyone's past or future memories like the Titan shifters, or Marley's Eldians.
True, there is no time for Paradise to make a decision, she doesnt have the luxury of time to understand humans or to build relationships, which Hange is so good at. And it definitely will take time to change a system or global worldview. Sometimes it is impossible.
I included this scene from Armin during the Sannes torture scene. There is a lot of foreshadowing here, which hints at the continuation of humanity and the change in the way they should fight. I draw attention to Armin's observation that Erwin's coup is a rebellion against a system for almost 100 years. With Hange now trying to address a problem that newly arise within 5 years, how can anyone even question her competency!?!? And Armin's conclusion basically also foreshadow Eren's effect of Rumbling: creating a significant event (Rumbling) so that the Survey Corp (Alliance) can be seen as a saviour and putting the blame on the MP or the government (Eren and the Titans). That is what basically happened for the Rumbling, and Hange initated that, with Armin continuing this form of retaliation via means of Alliance.
Her role now, is not to initiate change or gamble for change but to facilitate transition to the next person. Her decision to stop the genocide is exactly why Eren can only kill 80% of the world's population. Her decision to try to seek to understand help patch Magath's delusional view, changed Marley's victimised persception of themselves, lead the foundation of the Alliance and many others. Some say her sacrifice is unnecessary. It is if we only think of the situation in a micro view, ie Paradis vs the world. But Hange's view is always for Humanity to be free. She has to move on so that Humanity can move on. I would go as far as to say that she is the parallel of Eren's Attack Titan in human form. Thats why Levi knows she wont allow herself to stay out of action even before Eren declare that he will activate the Rumbling. (She was already fixing the cart when Eren spoke to all Eldians)

So if I compare Hange after Liberio and with pre 104 and pre basement, she is still very similar:
- She faced an enemy (Titan/ Humans/ humans' internal violence), she respond emotionally and with violence (Titan's head football, Nick over wall, torturing Sannes, i think she struggled here and was redirecting a lot of the aggression internally towards herself-being hard on herself instead)
- Given time, she eventually change the way she view her enemies (Titans, Nick, Sannes, she accepts and embrace that violence within her, because she still believes in Humanity and she does not have the time to change or remove the violence within human).

I was curious about this conversation between Yelena and Levi. Now it makes more sense to me.

In a way, many people have seen the most precious thing about Hange: the willingness to change yourself. I think, even for us, irl, we always want others to change for us, we always want the external environment to change for us. Much like Eren, when things dont go our way, we want them to change or die or disappear. Hange's willingness to admit vulnerability and change themselves, is something not many people can do. She is not avoiding. She is not even in the fight/ flight mode against threats. She is being in total control of herself by changing her perspectives, opinions and worldviews. Her level of self-awareness is not something many people observed because, we dont have a very complete understanding of why she is like that. Aka, we need her backstory so that people can understand her actions and choices easier.
This voice drama is so important to understand her as a whole.

i was already suspicious when i got a random dm from someone i barely knew who i havent talked to since 2021 saying 'i need to talk about something serious' like... ??
but also the shit they were saying was dumb as fuck. first of all, over 300$ on nitro?? not to mention the ultra specific number of 362, like, thats just weird to me. also 'mess with your ip and stuff' how. how though.
also the weird implication that somehow my friends or family could also have hacked this person. my family who barely use discord/know how to use discord, and my toootally real irl friends that i have that got on my computer, right....
but also like i say in the screenshots, they were avoiding all of my questions asking for clarification, including me rightfully asking how this person would even be thinking of me after 3 years of not talking, not to mention we werent even friends, we just sent a few dms to eachother... but most of all how theyd remember me based on a pfp i drew after i stopped talking to them, or how someone would have a similar pfp to the one i drew myself of my own OC. yeah, sure buddy.
and most of all how dumb it is to be like 'oh noo, the person who i reported you to wont listen to me, please can you, the person whos account is at stake for actions you may or may not have taken, please go beg for your account for me?' like... that doesnt make sense. on no level does that make sense.
i took the picture they sent me, erased specific details like their username and my name and pfp, and reverse image searched it
and every single result was how its a scam.
and like i said, naming yourself that on discord, also that pfp?? thats cop shit. thats some cop shit. fuck no.
they prey on your fear of losing your account. the realistic idea that many people get hacked all the time from suspicious links, so that you feel bad for this person and are more likely to listen to them. they obviously go through peoples friends lists or dm lists so that its someone they might know, or previously knew, so that youre less likely to be like 'hey, fuck off.'
and they send a screenshot that is actually fairly convincing at first but its also like... bruh. cause im pretty sure ive reported some accounts in recent months and never got that image, though i didnt report them on the discord website because discord has a built in report button in app. and honestly whos gonna bother going to the website unless its like, extremely serious, like the time someone sent me images of fucking dead bodies on discord. thats what you go directly to the website for.
anyway, other people online have said that the person they attempt to send you to is the real hacker trying to steal your shit, if that wasnt already obvious by this persons insistence... so yeah. dont fall for scammers bullshit, guys.
if youre wondering why im even bothering posting this and saying so much shit, im just hoping if other people reverse search the image people send them that they get informational posts like this, cause its important people dont fall for this garbage

I feel like it’s important to make intentional decisions and do whatever you believe is right when it comes to art.
I really care about artists that are just loud and brash and bring whatever you believe in to question.
I feel like Bowie and Iggy did that for a lot of people. I’d say even Smiths did that.
I don’t think this is entirely political though. It could be spiritual. I just feel like Gerard is really quiet about what he believes in until most people start talking about it. Or maybe he wasn’t informed at all. He caters to a very specific audience and doesn’t actually try to break any sort of taboos or extend the boundaries in art. Most of what he does is just ok to do.
I’d love to hear why you think this doesn’t matter. As I said, I think this kinda art really matters. I don’t care much that Gerard isn’t that kinda artist but I feel like a lot of times he wants it to seem that way. I feel like he has a lot more potential if he didn’t tip toe around these things.
(Also I know lady Gaga hasn’t done anything controversial recently but hey at least she did it for a WHILE.)

I personally get the sense that gerard doesn’t have a strong stance about Anything, at least according to the lack of strong direction in any of his art. He doesnt make a stance as much as he just lives what he believes in — women as people, queerness as interesting, even institutions (military, industry) as exploitative. Especially the last point he neverrr talks about, but it’s an undeniable part of black parade and killjoys et al. But i never got that as a political statement or call to action or anything like that. Just an opinion he has that is a normal part of his life and informs his art.
It isnt like any of the influences u mention, since they have such a strong vision. Sometimes political like the Watchmen comic, sometimes apolitical like Bowie, but nevertheless mainstream revolutions in art. I know what you mean. But i dont think gerard (and others) withholds as much as he . Just doesnt have anything to say.
An example. Fans point to ProRev stage gay as a strong stance against homophobia. And the band members frame it this way sometimes. Some other times, however, they say it was a “heat of the moment”, adrenaline thing. Which I believe wayyyy more. impulsivity over intention. Doesnt mean they didnt mean it, but their lack of intent points to a lack of overall intent. Bowie did something similar, but in a different way that was & still is crazy.
The thing is, you can see the lack of strength in the lack of real influence my chem has had on music, at least so far. The only big artist i can think they’ve influenced is Billie Eilish, and in a way that’s more stylistic than musical. Even small artists are often extremely derivative rather than inspired. Pinkshift & glass beach are the only bands I can think of who were properly inspired by mychem. They were the last hurrah of popular rock, rather than a reshift or revitalization. Time will only tell whether anyone picks up the mantle 🤷🤷 Bowie influenced mcr 30 years later — Nirvana & Thursday 5. Who’s inspired by mcr?
I’m a very formalist person, I think, meaning I care about qualities more than the message, and gerard (and all of mcr) are just fantastic artists Intuitively. It feels good to listen to them. That is their strength. And that is very hard to recreate.

i've actually been marinating on this more or less nonstop! like how to phrase it and stuff. i have, like, notes.
& part of this is i had some spoilers as to who mickey WAS before i watched the show because he was what was dangled in front of my face like a pie in a window to get me to watch shameless. but the thing about mickey is like every thing you learn about him CAN absolutely be traced to his behavior in s1. mickey's one of the most consistently and unrelentingly himself characters in the show (the other is debbie). everyone else has like personality crises.
you can fit a shitload of development into someone like mickey being aggressively himself the whole time because he has every reason to be afraid of the consequences of his personality w/out actually being insecure or not knowing himself. so we as the viewer get to know him w/out any of the information being startling in any way from the jumpoff of s1. it's insane that i'm pretty sure he was meant to only exist in season one i just know he'd be haunting some psyches.
he like never apologizes for his personality. which is i think easy to attribute to "confidence" as a sort of nebulous concept but i think he's just kind of a realist. everything he hides has a very straightforward reason behind it and when the reason disappears so does his hesitance to just be that. & i think a lot of what reads as confidence comes from disinterest in other people's opinions & a pretty intense pragmatism and get-shit-done-ism. mickey kind of sorts people into "who gives a fuck" or "useful" & eventually he expands his "people who matter" category enough that even people he doesnt gaf about in the main cast he at least doesn't want to piss them off.
another thing about this is i've seen sometimes people who over-relate (very understandably) to mickey sort of take very seriously how much he must've been hurt in end of s5, end of s7. which is. i mean i will be honest i KNEW it was coming and watching love songs in the key of gallagher RUINED MY WEEK. which is a good thing. because i am out of my mind. but i think sticking on "well, ian should've been more sorry, or said something nicer later" out of feeling bad for mickey misses a little the point where what i really see in mickey is a "it hurt. obviously. extremely badly. fucking anyway" sort of angle.
this ^ isn't something i know how to explain very well. there's kind of a difference between going "well that was horrifying and i need to throw the fuck up" and moving on, and the sort of therapy-speak adjacent urge to linger over how everyone should be looking at their feelings about it. not mickey's language IMO. so mickey's pretty in tune with what's going on in ian's head so when ian hurts his feelings on purpose he's like mad that it worked, you stupid jackass. and then ian's guilt is sitting right there and he's like well you were so mean but it's more important to me that i can be around you than that my feewings are made much of. mickey's pretty steadily uncomfortable with touchy-feely validation or anything. this interpretation is also a me thing. obviously everyone's reads are going to be informed by their life experience but this is what makes sense to me.
1 of the biggest things i've noticed rewatching is how FAST plotlines start moving when mickey decides he's getting something done. which is interesting because he's also one of the least ambitious characters in the show.
mandy and ian both really believe they can get something nicer and safer and better (&fancier) out of life. mandy has the strongest drive out of them to grab something nice for herself (like.. even vicariously through lip, she's always trying) mickey is kind of right that it's not realistic for everyone to get something better than where they grew up. it's depressing as fuck to be resigned to but especially with a criminal record it's pretty predictable under capitalism that you would just get stuck. these things happen to people
it's very sweet to me that ian keeps dragging mickey along to like nice places and optimism while mickey is like be so for fucking real. weird enough this is the most mickey has in common with lip - the "steal it or scam it" observation that lip makes, but mickey is chill with breaking more serious laws and being arrested for it. & lip also doesn't go for ambition the same way other people in the show do because he has noticed these patterns. he aims for a nebulous "more" jump up in the class system ONCE specifically because of mandy.
fiona is the opposite to all this ^ naturally. in the way that her ambition keeps coming back to bite her way harder than anyone else, because she gets caught up in her ideas of how to expand and do better and bigger really fast. funny enough both lip's "well it has to be a scam and you can't ever actually get anywhere" and fiona's "i bet if i just played my cards right i could make a million bucks rn" philosophies are frank traits.
BUT ANYWAY i also really like how mickey's pragmatism sort of lands him to being a very romantic person. because once he has reason to care more about someone else he decides to put all his eggs in that fucking basket. contrast -> ian is A Romantic. he wants to believe in like a soulmate and he pretty obsessively pursues validation through means of romance. m/while mickey never plans to be in a relationship and commits really hard when he decides that that's where he's going.
which comes to mickey's impressive skills at reading people. when he's not just completely disinterested, he can predict people really well. which is obviously like a survival technique but is also the only explanation of why he'd come back twice after getting written out. maybe it wasn't supposed to be the way his character played out but it can be traced back to s1 with the information we have and is the only way that his actions make sense.
& in like. the completely fucking insane way that mickey is as gentle as he is. you even see the intent here in his introduction. sure, he's showing up in a violent way to enact revenge. which being into prison abolition i don't necessarily agree with. but it's sweet! like, i know the revenge mob is kind of a THING but with everything that he does following it also seems very personal. so he shows up and the first thing he really wants is someone to look after. ian gallagher you may not believe you need a fucking caretaker but you literally snatched up the single person most desperate for someone to take care of
-> wrt gentleness also: i cant get over how fucking bonkers it is to be a violent teenager having a Massive mental breakdown and that mickey refuses to start the physical side of the "you love me and you're gay" confrontation. not a hand until ian shoves him multiple times. even though ian showed up explicitly as an attempt at using mickey to punish himself for something he really thought was his fault! what the fuck!!
um but anyway with mickey's fucking anger going on also i was personally very touched by him as a fantastic way to represent irritability and anger as an anxiety response. because anger is really fucking like that. again, visible from his intro to the end. ya habibi...

I've been working my way through Unmasking Autism, and am very curious about the "bottom-up" or systematic processing definition of Autism. I am autistic, and consider myself a pretty intuitive person-- I lack certain common kinds of intuition, certainly, like social intuition-- but I find that I tend to learn or internalize information only when I get the *vibe* of it. I rarely remember things word-for-word, for instance. I feel that my most important ideas and insights are intuited; if I systematize them or justify them, it's after the fact. Some other autistic friends of mine have a similar feeling about this.
Now, I recognize that I'm approaching this explanation in a fairly (autistically) systematic way, and I'm do wonder if what I'm describing is the experience of someone with a largely systematic mind grappling with the fact that it occasionally intuits. I wonder to what degree it's really possible to understand or measure this kind of thing, or if it's an "is my red the same as your red" kind of situation? Or is it just another way that every autistic person varies?
In my experience at least, a lot of Autistic 'intuition' is finely tuned pattern matching and systemization of information that feels so first-nature to us that we don't think of it as an effortful data organizing process, but the second we share the fruits of that process with allistics theyre totally fucking gob smacked by it and cant believe we bothered putting something so intricate together because they operate primarily on vibes. Distinguishing between vibes and systematized intuition is tricky to do, but it's the difference between having a gut feeling you cant describe even when pressed and having a framework that makes so much sense to you that it now operates effortlessly (but can be called forth when needed). For example, I never was taught grammar rules and never had to effortfully learn them, I just have a natural fluency for language that allows me to pattern match and adopt new linguistic rules on the fly without much effort, but then i can think through what i'm doing by instinct and describe it to conclude what the norms actually are. (prescriptive grammar sucks but i do like learning descriptive norms ' "rules" in the sense of the dominant social tendencies).
this is all further complicated by the fact that if your an AuDHDer, you might just have a more intuitive processing style! the bottom-up versus top town model of Autism is still just a model, it's a summary and a way of explaining a lot of different disparate features, so if it doesnt work for you that just speaks to the limited rendering capacity of the model, and it's not a sign youre not Autistic or anything like that

Any tips for an amateur writer? I've been writing a pmd:eos fic series on ao3 that's been getting praise, but I still feel inexperienced

Hell yeah best pokemon game to make fanfic of, easily. its an absolute BANGER Ok i got a few pieces of advice for ya, i don't mind sharing! 1 - One of the most important ones for me personaly, is to know and understand yourself and your own style of writing. By what i mean its like; you get an idea for a story, or a concept. But knowing your writing style, your capability to write scenes, and even the characters in question, do you KNOW that you can write this story? Its actually pretty important; Because writing takes up a LOT of time and effort, and if you just start blanking halfway into it, you'll have wasted so much time with a story that you don't exactly know how to do. I personaly have so many ideas, but i only execute on the ones that i am aware i can work on, and would know where to take, even if the idea is small. (For example, i had an idea for writing a fic of rarijack but only when theyre older, after the events of FIM. I started writing immediately because i knew exactly that i could do it; and am already 25 pages in and might finish today, heh) 2 - Write horizontaly, not verticaly. by that i mean; don't start at the beginning and work from there, consider all of your story's structure before you even start, act 1, 2, and 3, and its most pivotal moments. Much like you would sketch a drawing before lining and coloring, its important as hell that you are planning all your setups and payofss in advance, all of the arcs and character progression in tandum and stuff. This applies well to the first advice too! Don't be afraid to make an ugly ass sketch of a story, as long as youre aware that this is indeed a story you can make. Make the skeleton before adding the meat, and only after do you add the makeup. And as you write, more ideas will come to you! 3 - This one is more for my own, personal taste, but never be afraid of writing multigenre! By that like. If you're writing romance, dont be afraid to put action, if you're writing drama, dont be afraid to put a moment of comedy here and there; stories are infinitely more interesting when they're not just one note, not just a single tone! And the readers would absolutely be delighted on having moments of respite or shock, it keeps them on their toes. 4 - This one is hard to execute, and i cant give examples that arent long, but like. None of your scenes and sequences should be just what they are in the surface. Like; A character knows something that the other doesnt, or the audience knows something that neither character knows, or the underlying conflict is constantly clashing silently. A short example i can give is a scene in on of my fics in which a character was being asked about her past, and she spoke ernestly, but every once in a while i'd add a "She lied" after the information she provided; And i didn't need to add anything else, that in itself is enough for the audience to understand and consider why this character is doing what shes doing, and just that simple little thing added an really interesting layer to the simple conversation. Essentialy, there's no reason why a conversation should *just* be a conversation in your stories, and there is no reason why you should have filler for the sake of it. Pacing is important, and you can make every single scene and chapter on your story interesting, nothing stops you but you! The "She lied" thing is specialy important, because you don't have to treat your audience like babies. I didn't explain why she lied, because if any reader was paying attention, they'd understand completely, everything would simply click. A character can sometimes say something, and all you need to do is write the tone of their voice, and the reader can already connect the dots, or even something as simple as describing a facial expression or body language without explaining why it is what it is; It makes your story more engaging! I have a million other advice, but i felt like these were the most important ones i specificaly could provide. Good luck!

Can I have some advice? I'm trying to write Ink as canonically as *possible. How should I go about his personality? He's a very complex character after all.
Oh boy where i go.
First off i want to say that i'm extremly glad you want to search about Ink's character to portray him as accurate as possible! Not many people do that and writing Ink can be very trick (but you get used to it after some time i swear-)
Like you said Ink is indeed a very complex character so the phrase "How should i go with his personality?" can be a very vaque question, Ink can be many things regarding certain situations and people he meets/talks too. But to answer this matter i divided in sections how he acts generaly and in some situations/individuals!
To start off
...
Ink with another characters! (strangers/new monsters and humans etc....)
If you want to write Ink meeting another person i feel this section is just for you!
Ink does NOT bring a good first impression to people he first meets. He's often described as being "a jerk on accident" and surprising people by his level of 'quikness' and 'weirdness'....
The first thing to make your characters notice about Ink is his social problems and social obliviousness that plays a HUGE part on how Ink communicates and interacts with people. Because of this matter, he's often blunt about his thoughts and visions in which Comyet herself clarifies that it is linked to or even caused by the social problems he presents.
| So if your character is ,for example, extremly tall Ink WILL point out how tall the character is, even if its clearly not appropriate to the situation in hand|
He also doesn't often presents himself to people. Ink doesn't go "Hi, my name is Ink! Nice to meet you...", but instead he says "You have a funny face! Want to be friends?" (It's probable that the character meets Ink and doesn't even know his name, since he doesn't present himself). Keep in mind he doesn't do that intentionally or slyly, it's genuinely something he accidently does. And he also tries to befriend a lot of people but he often fails to do so, because of his social issues of course!
|Also, he doesn't seems to have much of a ' social filter. Calls everyone 'Pal' even when the person clearly isn't his friend. And yes he calls bad people 'pal' too|
In short, the person is more likely to meet him by first impression and think he is an idiot of some sort (yes, his social issues are bad like that)
On the other hand, when said character meets Ink by the second time it's likely they'll start to think Ink as an 'endearing' person. That's what happened to Top!Gaster for example! He thought Ink was strange at first but learned to love Ink as time went on. Speaking about that...
It's important to learn that INK NEEDS TIME!!No one is going to instantly loves Ink!!! In order to build a relationship with him you .need .to. give. him .time!
But If your character never meets him ever again, they will think Ink is a jerk 'till ever.
....
Ink with close people! (family)
This part will be short because Ink doesnt have much close friendships with anyone in particular.But Ink can come off as completly different with strangers and with close people.
For example, Ink is canonically Top!Gaster and Zephyr!Gaster (or aster) adopted son! Like i said, they saw Ink as a weird person at first but learned to love him and respect him by the way he is! He is in short very tender with them!
You need to put in mind that Ink BARELY gets emotionaly attached to people, he's kind with them but he's not particullary attached to anyone. The only two situations where this isn't true is with his fathers (thats why their relationship is so important!)
But when he DOES get attach to them the relationship will certainly last through tick and thin.
Ink (individual)
For this part i really recommend looking through Ink's FAQ "Personality section" for more information in details! But i have a specific advice on this matter!
Ink can be anything! He's a very grey character than can do both good or bad, but It doesn't mean he's good or bad. Don't be afraid to write Ink as very flawed and complex!
I think this ask answered by Comyet in 2018 says it all.

honestly just his whole arc being a pretty blatant abuse/depression metaphor combined with like. some of the most realistic disabled writing ive seen in fantasy. like i remember reading dunmeshi for the first time and pogging about seeing a character with ptosis because i NEVER see that shit outside of my own ocs and also some of the stuff discussed about him like. having a weird sense of direction (which is partially bc of dungeon lord business but also iirc he is stated to have weird walking/gesture patterns so!) and not really being aware of his own energy or triggers.... like it hits very close to home for me as a chronically fatigued guy with bad balance and bad eyesight and its just really nice to see someone like me portrayed in like. a way which doesnt exaggerate mithrun's disability as laughable or tragic in a very unsympathetic way. like the way the canaries accommodate him and the way his arc finishes up (+ the little chats he has with marcille....) i think its very sweet very comforting. ive just been very into him recently after like. coming to terms with being abused by an ex and going through the whole rollercoaster of emotions that comes with that. like. ughhh. i saw this thread recently and it keeps swimming around in my mind. its good

i guess like the dude's bigotry but considering other chapters in the adventurer's bibble he seems to be self aware of it? its kind of an unexplored facet of him altogether.... and at the same time i think it informs a lot of like. the inherent supremacist ideas elf culture harbors.

i think the fact i dont like yaoi with him in it is unpopular enough i feel. oh uh i also think like. the few scenes where he shows off like. genuine bursts of aggression and violence are really fucking interesting and everyones far too keen on dismissing him as like. A Numb Mindless Boytoy like hey. think about this dude for a second as like an individual please.
