Finally part 4 of the Railway Investigations voice drama

So, Part 4 picked up from where Levi complained that Hange had piled all her shopping bags to him, as they made their way to Nagoya castle to gather with everyone. Hange exclaimed about the fast and efficient of the railway again. And she made fun of his name. (Li Vai Eee Eee heee Eee heeee heeee)😆

Levi then poked fun at her hyperactive brain again, and Hange seemingly knew what he is thinking about (i think is her just running away when he complained about the bags). So Hange tried to appease him, saying she didnt want that too, and tried to give him a little bags to carry only. (The way she said "For real", is just like little puppy pleading 🥺). And then a tentative "yeah?" To check that Levi is not angry by putting up a cute and spoiled expression? 🥹

Anyway a few more banter about her idea of light luggage etc then Hange saw Nagoya Castle and they talked about how grand it is, how strong the structure is that it can probably endure a titan attack but Levi can still sneak in with the ODM gear. Then Hange explained that the castle is 400 years old, and regarding attacks, even with ODM gears there are also windows and points where bows and guns can attack invaders. Then she add that although there is attack capabilities but the castle was never involved in a battle and that it can endure a huge earthquake about 100 years ago.

Then Levi said the castle looked new for being 400 years old and Hange explained that though there was never a field attack, there was a war where attacks drop from the sky, burned the castle to nothing. So the castle they are looking at now is a reconstruction from about 60 years ago.

Levi then said why the need to rebuild if it may break again. Hange then said it is their perspective but she was told that in this country, they preserve history and culture to pass to future generations. So even if there are problems they cant fix down, the future generations can study the way of thinking to solve the problem. In a way the solution to a problem is to think ahead and not just focus on a solution now.

Anyway, Levi then conclude the mindset of looking beyond the current problems and then he reminded Hange that big global problems aside, there is a small problem that they are late.

And after Hange realised they are late and everyone had gathered, she grumbled that Levi did not remind her (😏)

Then Hange told him to hurry but Levi decided to irritate Hange and said he had a lot of luggage to carry. He told her to hurry up and there is nothing else to do cos they are already late.

And Hange order Levi to take care of the supplies and dont rush but hurry, while she walked ahead of him.

Now, this monologue by Levi is also very interesting.

After commenting that Hange gave him a crazy order, he reflected to Erwin that Hange too, had the same look as the kid (i am guessing is Armin).

Ok, here's how I interpret the last few sentences, I may be totally wrong. (Levihan lens on)

I think Levi is trying to feel assured that Hange is doing well in Erwin's shoes and that she doesnt need his support yet. Probably just his support to carry the bags.

Why do I say so. Cos in Part 2, he had been asking Hange what did she want to see besides the railway. It is like him asking Erwin in Season 3 what does he plan to do after the truth in the basement is known.

And I remember that there was some interview that Armin could be the next "landing" for Levi after Erwin is gone to commit his Ackerman strength to.

Now, my thinking is that this whole liege thing, is based on free-will from the Ackermans and driven by a deep sense of emotions. Like Kenny's sense of compassion being instigated by Uri and Kenny wanting to see what Uri sees.

I see this similarity between Levi and Erwin too. Like there is a purpose for both Kenny and Levi to support Uri and Erwin. This is inspired by a deep sense of emotional purpose and meaning from Uri and Erwin.

Which is why I feel that in Part 2 of this voice drama, when Levi repeated Erwin's words of "if there is something we dont understand, just go and seek it" and then him asking Hange again and again why she wanted to see, I feel that there is something going on there.

And Part 2 and Part 4 are where Levi ended the voice drama with his monologue to Erwin, and Part 4 ending that Hange had that look in Armin as well. Comparing Hange's crazy orders and Erwin's order, I think that sets a different Commander-Captain relationship between Hange and Levi, vs, Erwin and Levi.

And of course, putting Part 3 with all the Levihan moments, about spending good time with important people and looking at all the small things in life, together, I would say that somehow somewhere, Levi's dream of setting a tea shop, while Hange take things slow and enjoy and savour discoveries in life, is starting to form in both of their minds.

Of course, these are just my thoughts, with Levihan filter on. If anything, it is still just enjoyable to listen to the voice acting of these 4 parts.

Part 3 of the Railway Investigations Voice Drama

This is the best so far! I had so much fun reading the translated text on Google translate.

It started with Hange getting excited (again) by the view at the observation deck where she pointed out where they had been earlier. Then Levi nagged at her to be quiet because they are in a room and the sound gets amplified.

Of course Hange had to ignore him and start to look at the vastness from the observation deck, exclaiming how small the things are. Then she saw ships coming out of the dock and Levi said it is on course to/ from the station.

Levi then said that he noticed some rivers around the station and wondered why the river level and sea level are not the same.

Hange gave her evil laugh 😏and explained that the rivers are actually waterways channeled from the sea. The watergates control the levels to provide direction of water flow.

After quite a detailed explanation on how the seawater is channeled into the waterway, Levi then said he had been wondering why the water levels are different and conclude it is to provide a means of transportation for the ships, not just road. (Now I realised when he said "iron" here and in the previous videos, he was likely referring to the cars and ships). Then he talked about investigating water transportation.

Hange then attempted to blabbering about the watergates but was shut off by Levi

"Wait". His ear is painful from her blabbering earlier on. 😣. Hange then said she cant help it cos she gets so good at talking about technology.

So then Hange spotted a ship coming out and pointed to Levi that it is a cruise ship, explained it transport people.

Levi then said it is still iron (like cars transporting people on land😆). He then question why people want to take cruise ship when it is so slow.

Hange then explained that their way of understanding how things should be had always been about efficiency, that they dont focus on things. Like not realising the daily small things, change landscapes, history cultures etc. That the reason to bother taking a railway or slow ship is to have a good time with people important to them. And that is something she can afford in peaceful times.

And then she asked Levi if that is a wonderful idea.

And Levi said it is a naive, happy ideal world aka he agreed. Hange reiterated her wish for peace and proceed on the information processing for the expedition, and kind of bring back the whole interaction to "that is also the role of the Scouts- fight for peace"

Then a little awkward pause and Hange said it is time to gather at Nagoya castle. Then Levi started to complain how Hange had shopped and bought so many things knowingly but somehow he is the one ended up having to carry the baggage. And he asked Hange "why is that so😒"

And Hange, being the spoilt rascal wifey, decided to run away first. 😏

And Levi can only lament that she is a blessed one (we know what he means by that, eh😍)

I just love the second half because it confirmed for me 2 things

1) in the anime, when Levi had his monologue before killing Zeke, I am now more assured that he is indeed talking to Hange. Because of the naive, happy ideal world of peace both of them talked about.

And before Hange talked about that world where she can be at peace, hanging out having a good time with important people, it was like the both of them crafting out their future lives without Titans/ in a peaceful world.

2) Second, this scene in the anime has so much meaning now as he looked at her on the ship.

It is not remembering Erwin in Hange, but seeing and learning about Hange, her ambitions and aspirations and what she sees. In Part 2, he kept asking Hange what she wanted to see besides the railway and this, I feel, is so important because Levi is also trying to overcome the burden he probably felt he had given her by giving Armin the injection. (My guess).

Part 2 of the Railway investigations Voice drama

So Levihan exited from the shopping street and is now at the jetty.

Hange was exclaiming how fresh the air feels after coming out from the shopping street and being near the sea, while Levi was thinking how the iron road and tracks can be built underground (or is he thinking that iron mining is incredible?). Then he also talk about how the jetty, being steel and iron and all stops the seawater from flowing inland.

Lots of discoveries for them, I would say.

Hange again exclaim about all the technology that she wants to know. (Like she just want to discover and discover 😣)

And Levi repeated her and Erwin's words in the anime. "If there is something you dont understand, go and seek it". And something clicked within Levi when he said this.

(Sidenote: this is important for the later parts)

Levi then asked Hange something. After all the shopping, why did Hange come this far (to the jetty, I presume).

Hange then replied that he had asked well, or asked a good question. Hange then said the railway investigation is not just investigating the railway technology. She also wanted to study how the livelihood are affected by the rail, like the cargo and logistics.... and she gets into babbling mode... until Levi tell her to calm down

I just cannot with Hange's slowly trailing away voice. Romi park is tooo cute 🤩

So Levi said he had not interest in listening to her babbling and repeated his question

"What do you want to see?" (Important!!!)

Hange then apologised and said the summer heat is too hot and told Levi that she wanted to see the port, how the port can be the mouth or opening for people and things for Paradise Island. She relate to Paradise island and the place they are visiting and kind of wonder if they can be the same.

She then talked more about the facilities near the jetty, she is hungry and planned out what to do at the jetty. (Eat food and gelato, read book, candle making, buy souvenirs etc).

Then Levi said to get a model cargo ship so she can inspect it. Hange then relate some difficulties again, and she reflected how their previous expeditions are always dangerous, that they can only retreat fast once the mission is done. Then she talk about how the railway expedition is done with peace, so instead of just completing the mission and tasks, also to widen the field of vision to see more things. Hange loved that idea 😍cos it brings her new discoveries.

Levi listened. And agreed.

Hange then get into her crazy mode again, spotted an observation deck at the jetty and wanted to see the jetty from a higher ground. And told Levi to follow her. 😏

Levi sighed, and lament to Erwin that life is just like that.... 😮‍💨

Finally had time to do this. Thanks to levihansackerman from IG, the Railway Investigation voice drama is out!

I tried to translate using Google translate but am too lazy to type it out. Cos I realised the translation into English for this software makes the dialogue feel a bit weird.

There are 4 parts. The first one is on the railway station, where Hange saw a unique car and wanted to sketch it. Levi then poked her saying that she is not feeding the car carrot and that ahe had grown a little.

Hange then exclaim her happiness that she is seeing so many new things like the railway, not just the car. Levi then comment she is such a happy guy. And proceeded to comment on how the railway tracks are like nets, and the complexity and efficiency of the train. Then he compared it with the railway track at Paradise Island and said it is imcomparable.

Levi then said the investigation is different from their usual expeditions but is back to the basis of the Scouts original purpose.

Hange then saw shops near the railway station and commented on the variety of items and the crowd there. A mixture of cultures. Levi then commented on her heart of discovery again, and something about the Scouts being happy this summer, like in the past it is always painful news they hear. (I think he mean he is feeling pain in the ears listening to her being happy). Hange then apologise for her happiness and commented on all the stuff that they can find on the shopping street that caters to the needs of everyone.

She then commented that the street is like underground with a ceiling but the feeling and atmosphere is different. Levi talked a little about selling and buying and the underground likeness of the shopping street, the difference in the atmosphere. (I think Levi was thinking about the selfishness and harshness of the underground)

Hange then caught him and said she is leaving. And of course Levi sighed and had to follow her.

The other parts are really cute too! I have to put a disclaimer. I am not a native Japanese. This is just me trying to interpret this using google translate and piecing the sentence structure together.

Reminds me of a fan fic I read which I love alot. I think it is called A Good Fight. Part 2 of this fanfic had Levihan working together to clean up after a meal for the Scouts in the forest and then sharing a tent after that. And of course, some things will have to happen between them (nsfw)

Of all the official merch which showed canon moments of Levi and Hange together in the anime or manga, this actually opens the door of "What if". Thats why I had to get it because this is very unique.

If only....

If only Levi saw this piece of titan part moving after he defeated Zeke...

He can then wait for the titan to regenerate and get that titan to eat Zeke....

Then the military/ Scouts would have the Beast titan power.....

And Levi and the Beast titan can take out Floch and saved Hange.

The Rumbling cant happen. Armin and gang took out the titans in Shiganshina. Hange tries to befriend Zeke's sympathisers among the Volunteers. The Scouts and Historia ruled Paradise island the same way Marley did with their Titans.

Gabi and Falco convinced Pieck and Magath, are released back to Marley and worked with Reiner to convince the world that there are no Paradise devils.

Everyone work towards peace, while Eren finally accepts his remaining years and spending them with Mikasa. Levi and Hange decided to retire and do undercover work in Marley/ the rest of the world.

Falco helped to release Annie 🙂‍↕️

This is very interesting. I read somewhere that Levi had wanted Hange to be the one to break the news to 104 cos this is his response when Nifa brought Erwin's orders in the manga.

I am guessing that they are ready to convene a meeting after Nifa arrived but Levi noticed that Hange is not around. "What about Hange?"

And he is obviously not happy. I think that Levi and Hange probably had discussed about how to break the news to his squad, and would cook up some skit to convince Historia to take up the crown.

Because....

Now, the skit cant continue without Hange and he had to break the news to Historia himself. So Levi had to find a way to explain why he havent told them the news.

I think if Hange is around, she likely would stop Levi from manhandling the queen, and then using their own language, reprimand him like "you really have a short memory that you forgot she is the queen".

Then she would talk logic to Historia to convince her, and then poke at Levi again saying something like "if you dont agree to this, Levi is going to suffer from Erwin's unhappiness" or something.

This is quite fun to think about.

So curious that this scene was cut out of the anime. It reveals a side of Levi that I wish would’ve been explored more in the anime. And (my levihan lens is on!) I wonder how this would’ve played out if Hange was present. Would they stop Levi or would they watch because it’s supposedly part of a bigger plan (kinda like when Levi was beating the shit out of Eren)?

This is something I have been thinking about after watching a video of a Japanese fan analysing if Eren had told Hange about his Rumbling plan. There, they made reference to this panel in the manga.

So apparently, these memory shards from Eren (Chap 130 if I remember correctly), are what he saw of the future when he kissed Historia's hand.

Now, we can match these memory shards in Eren's perspective with the events that happened after that, except for the one with Falco and Hange.

I had been very curious why the perspective of Falco is that of the bird flying across him, which was the opening scene for Season 4.

There, Falco had some memories of the Survey corps in the Paradise.

Of course, anime-wise, it could be a bridge for story continuation. But if I think of possible intention from the author in the manga, it could also mean some form of contact with Eren, whether it is in human form or via the Paths, or some form of contact that is not shown. I do not think that he transformed into the bird and thats why the perspective of Falco is as such, but likely he made contact with him via the Path while Falco is lying down injured.

So, what about the one with Hange. In that video, a few points were brought up:

1) Hange was wearing her cape, meaning she was in combat state when the contact with Eren happened

2) She was depicted with the eye-patch and without goggles or glasses. Now, the analysis shared that it could be an emotional meeting (cos Isayama did mention that Hange view the world via her glasses which acts as a filter to her inner emotions), one where Eren told Hange that she is going to die. And Hange, knowing Eren's helplessness and what is going to happen gets emotional.

3) The video then conclude that Eren did meet up with Hange in the Paths and discussed his plans with her. It was also observed that both Eren and Hange concluded that the Rumbling happen because Eren is an idiot (not because he wanted to save Humanity, Paradise Island or his friends).

So, when did Eren possibly met up with Hange?

This question has been bugging me for a while, and here are my take on Eren's memory shard of Hange.

1) Suppose he met up with Hange via the Path, like with Falco, then the timeline would be when she is wearing the cape.

2) Now, we know that Hange was taken by Floch and the Jeagerists to see Shadis first. She was not wearing the cape then. Thereafter, when she led Floch to find Levi ans Zeke, she was in her cape. And glasses.

Now, it is likely that she didnt get to change to her goggles, or that after being Commander, she started to wear her glasses more. But I thought it was significant because the glasses kind of signify the non-combative side of Hange in this situation.

Anyway, thinking in terms of the timeline, there is this cut of Eren which caught my attention.

3) This scene was after the scenes where Eren pushed away Armin and Mikasa, Zeke screamed and Levi commenced his fight with him, and Hange on the way to bring Floch to Zeke after Shadis got bullied by Floch.

One can also think that he is just waiting. But I feel that at this moment, Eren know that his end is inevitable.

If I think on a very broad perspective, Eren has already laid his chess pieces for both the Rumbling and the Alliance to stop the Rumbling. He has:-

- Keep Armin, Mikasa and the 104 safe by locking them in the cell

- Separated Levi and Zeke cos he needed Zeke to activate the Rumbling.

So, the unknown factor here is if Levi can survive Zeke's suicide explosion. Because Levi is also important in ending his life towards the end. He needed Levi to be alive, and the only thing he needed to make sure is that someone can find and save him.

4) So this is where I think Eren connected with Hange via the Paths and let her know about the future. I also believe that he wanted to know the determination of Hange to find and save Levi, while putting her life at risk, similar to how he may have connected with Falco, who also played an important part in the Marley arc of the story. He needed these important pieces to move his next step.

So I think that Hange and Eren had a heated discussion and that is where we see an emotional Hange in the memory shard. And I think that is why both of them concluded, he is just an idiot who is helpless against all the things that will happen.

So I do think that Eren, once knowing that Hange will go all out to save Levi, then erased her memory and the sequence of events followed as what was depicted. This is because he knows that when Hange sees a mortally wounded Levi, she will make a decision that is driven by her feelings that she hide deeply, or not even aware of until she realises it. It could also be her response knowing that Levi could die because of the explosion.

5) So, why do I say that Hange's intention is important? Why didnt he let Hange know when he was in the cell and doing his very cool hairdo? I feel that he is waiting for triggers that would signify the next steps. And all these are not in his control. Like Floch is the one making sure his plans work, so he can only rely on Floch when he is in jail. Same thing, he needed to rely on Hange to reach the final scene that he sees in the future memories, whether it is saving Levi or forming the Alliance.

6) I believe that he wanted to make sure that Zeke is alive. But with Founder Ymir repairing the Titan that Zeke ripped apart and then sending that Titan to revive Zeke, I think this is something he realised that his future's death may not happen because if Zeke is alive and Levi died, Eren will not die at Mikasa's hands without Levi's help.

That memory shard of Hange could well represent something else totally. But it will be so interesting to think, what did happened in that memory of Eren's with Hange that she is so flustered and emotional.

Marleyan Hange au

I've wanted to try my hand at a Marley au for ages and well I have been doing it for ages too because this got way out of hand lmao, like this is part one out of at least three (that's how far I've drawn), probably more if I follow my plan to go over the whole canon in little vignettes like these.

There's a bit (a lot) of yapping about the au itself under the cut if you want some context:

First of all disclaimer this isn't like super thought out in the logic sense and when you spot plot holes just uh ignore them ig xD this whole thing started from me just wanting to draw a few specific scenes

So basically Hange is born and raised in Marley, trained into a warrior and sent to scout out Paradis a few years before the Marley kids in canon do. In the pic there's a little bit of their childhood, they and Zeke are friends and I gave them a little sister for reasons:)

Hange's parents are fanatically loyal to Marley and so were they before they actually were sent out to war as a warrior candidate and saw how Marley uses eldians as disposable weapons, which caused them to question how things were and become kind of disillusioned. They kept their true feelings to themself and continued going along with it, feeling that gaining honorary status for their family is the best thing they could do for them and it would give their sister Essie a peaceful life.

After they come back from the war they and Zeke are promoted to warriors, Zeke gets the beast titan and Hanged gets... Also the beast titan?? Or maybe jaw I really don't know XD (here's kinda the biggest plothole so if you're super attached to the canon lore and rules I'm sorry idgaf I'm just here to draw freaky titan and put blorbo in situations so there's an extra titan now) anyway it's based on a hyena, I also thought about a kangaroo but that felt too powerful, imagine that thing jumping super high and slamming down to cause an earthquake or something.

Anyway Hange is sent to Paradis to look for the coordinate. They immediately fall in love with odm-gear the minute they see it since they're still their ever curious scientist self. This leads them to join the military, though they justify it to themself by researching what the enemy can do. They find that they actually really like life on Paradis, not the least because they can be their true self and most people accept them as they are, whereas in Marley they had to assimilate to stricter gender roles.

Eventually a certain Levi is scouted into joining the survey corps and Hange's immediately interested in him (totally for research purposes, yeah) and it takes a while but suddenly they realise Levi is their closest friend and maybe not just a friend anymore, which seems mutual but they dance around the subject until Levi's had enough and just straight up kisses them. They get together and on the other hand Hange is the happiest they've ever been but on the other they're panicking inside cause they know this can't last and the guilt is eating them up

Canon happens pretty much as it does, Reiner & co are sent to Paradis cause Hange has taken too long without presenting results. Once the kids are in the military Hange makes sure they don't blow Hange's cover even when the kids are revealed to be titans. The Marley kids are shocked when they realise Hange is in a relationship with Levi and have differing opinions on it, but Hange can be scary when they want to to shut their questions down

Shit has been going down, it's the night before they'll leave for Shiganshina and Hange knows this is the last peaceful time they're going to spend with Levi, because tomorrow they're going to have to go back to their old life and fulfill their mission.

Hange worrying about Levi. Of course Levihan lens is on so proceed with caution.

Now, we all know that Levi was worried about Hange and the rest in Season 3, Shiganshina battle, esp when he asked about her after the Colossal titan's transformation.

Hange, after surviving the explosion and helping the 104 take down Reiner, had no idea what is happening on the other side.

However, we still can see her worry.

As the most senior officer on this side of the wall, we can see Hange hesitated and stopped to collect herself after she knew that the farthest place they can reach is Eren and Armin's place.

And so, she had to focus on the more impt thing at hand- how to dispose of Reiner. I think that while she thought that all was gone at Erwin's and Levi's side, part of her wanted to go beyond the wall to check on them too.

But she had to focus on the task of getting the injection from Levi. Now she had asked Mikasa to replenish when she reached Eren and Armin, and then get the injection from Levi. Part of me is thinking that Hange had already prepared herself for the worse for Levi already.

And then "... if you cant do that for whatever reason...."

I feel that she does not want to think that Levi has been killed and shredded like the rest of the squads from the Beast Titan's rocks. She cant even bear to talk about the possibility of Levi dying, even if that is something on her mind.

And that's why in the manga, she already started to think who to eat Reiner. Because she thought Levi, the one entrusted to use the injection, had died.

And when she lost Reiner to the Cart titan, she only know for certain that someone (Eren or Armin) is still alive, because Mikasa had fired the flare. And after losing Reiner, she can only regroup with Mikasa and the rest of the 104 first.
