I love reading comments on cooking videos because some people have really bizarre and unscientific ideas about food safety and hygiene

#gloves are not inherently more hygenic than bare hands #wearing gloves can actually be WORSE because people assume they're cleaner and don't change them in-between touching things #if you are washing your hands it's better #also the waste if you're using several pairs of disposable gloves every time you cook is unbelievable #why do people think you need to wash chicken specifically and no other meat?#cooking it kills bacteria #it's unnecessary and if you're rinsing it off in the sink you're actually just spraying the potential salmonella all over your kitchen #a lot of people seem hung up on weird hygiene theatre things #while ignoring actual cross contamination issues or food safety risks

As someone who was unable to dust her entire room for the entirety of the kitchen reno, kiddos, I beg thee: Dust your stuff at least once a month. Weekly if you can manage it but once a month at least. I'm dying. I've never sneezed so much in my life. No wonder I couldn't breathe well even after the "heavy" stuff was done.

Also open your blinds during the day. This isn't a mental health thing this is a "UV light can help kill bacteria" thing.

I had a dream last night that I was afflicted with some kind of exhaustion disease probably brought on by my irl subconscious resisting the no-dreams buff from the weed gummy I ate before bed, and in the dream Justice Guilty Gear was coming to my house and I didn't know why so I like struggled over to the door with my sword and constantly kept rubbing my eyes to stay awake

It turned out she wanted to apologize for being evil and wanting to kill people. She could tell something was wrong with me so I invited her into my house and idk what happened after that because the dream wasn't very vivid to begin with lol Idk if it was a Sol dream either because I couldn't see my hands. It probably was though, based on the everything else happening

Which could have killed the otters and the lake's ecosystem #I told him that if someone didn't refill the lake the otters were going to die anyway #And he explained that there were so many other ways that the lake could have been saved #and I was like 'Come on let Axl feel like he's being useful for once' lmao #Actually yeah maybe this was a Sol dream #It cracks me up how my subconscious decides to deal with Axl. It's like mean about it but not really. Tough love?

currently half asleep trying to figure out how I could rearrange the laws of the tlt universe to make harrow rb number 9

#you really just have to rearrange the one: necromancers need thanergetic planets which are planets that have been killed #well okay and also when john reached and killed all of them #those are two. pretty big plot points that occurred #the timeline does not line up for harrow to possibly fit the rb inside her it was already released before her birth #however! i'm also still confused on how planets' souls form in the first place!#because it seems like there's some expectation it forms in conjuction with the life on a planet?#since alecto is clearly tied to life on earth and the rock critter was like a bacteria or something?#so planets with no life might not have one? but then it seems like anastasia was the first one to go to pluto #so how would the planet have had a soul to kill when john killed it #unless he didn't kill it because it wasn't alive #but it grew a soul gradually but then harrow's parents killed it with a controlled thanergy burst #you see where i'm going with this but the fact is they had always been able to do necromancy there so it must have always been flipped #trying to find my way around this so i can create various horrifying events but i am sooo sleepy

i am FUCKING pissed about the feral cat situation yet again

#killed the fledgling bird ive been happily watching be nurtured by its parents over the last few weeks #and which had just started out trying small flights on its own #i guess technically i managed to chase the cat off before it finished the job but the baby is almost certainly going to die #almost all the feathers on the back half of its body were ripped out and it had a large bleeding gash down its back #if the wound isnt fatal the bacteria from the cat teeth and claws will be and it got out of sight so i cant even find/help it #i hate it!!!!! i hate it that a group of 'animal lovers' can just decide the rest of the cities wildlife doesnt matter and deserve to die #just because they get sad 100 cats a year or whatever were humanely put down in shelters #first nubfoot my beloved one footed dove and now the baby :(((((#ive tried trapping ive tried deterrant sprays ive tried plants they dont like the smell of ive tried chasing it off every time i see it #nothing works!!!!! it does not care. and no it cannot be taken to a shelter. they just dump them back where they were collected #thats how TNR works. makes it everyones problem and lets the cats die miserably of heat exhaustion at 115º in june instead #bc apparently thats the nicer thing to do i guess #anyway keep your FUCKING cats inside #not sure if it also got one of the parents :(((((( have only seen one dove kind of looking around trying to find its family #:((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

why should you wash your rice? isn’t it just excess starch that makes the water cloudy?

the excess starch is exactly what you dont want -_- on top of just getting rid of general dirt. starchy rice creates a gooey film all around it just making the rice worse in general, its a different texture, flavor and is less absorbent so if cooked with anything you wont be getting as much flavor. ik for like white and brown rice ppl say rinse it 4 times but thats silly and depends on how much rice youre making so i say rinse it until you can at least see it. for jasmine rice youre supposed to rinse it until the water is completely clear!

#asks #ive heard the goo can also mess up rice cookers but i dont use a rice cooker #but anyway you should wash/clean most things you will be cooking and putting in your mouth??? obviously #yes the heat kills bacteria no that is not enough -_-; theres literally bugs on this earth

It feels like lately Game Freak’s been paying extra attention to Gen 2 Pokemon.... especially those single stage “weirdos” that were just hanging around. Hisuian Qwilfish here is our first example of this... and boy was the attention necessary! Half the fandom just kinda ignored the poor thing because it was just a random single-stage porcupinefish! Normal Qwilfish can launch their spines in an attempt to poison their attackers, but Hisuian Qwlifish prefer to just spray the poison out of their spines instead! This makes them hated by fishermen all over the region, since their poison tends to make a mess and also hurts the fish they’re trying to catch! (One would think Hisui would be driven to eating Qwilfish fugu if this kept up, but then again that poison spray might make the whole thing toxic instead of it being confined to certain organs!)

#pokemon #doodledex #qwilfish #hisuian qwilfish #speaking of fugu the main problem with it is that if it's not prepared correctly... well. it could potentially kill you #but apparently it's been discovered that the species of pufferfish commonly used for fugu get their tetrodotoxin from their diet!#(more specifically from toxin-producing bacteria that's already infecting their prey!)#the puffers themselves are immune to the poison so they pretty much let it build up in their bodies and use it as their own defense #what this means is farm-raised puffers can be kept away from this bacteria and become way less toxic... and therefore safer to eat!#(that said the most popular species used for fugu (torafugu) is also the most poisonous #so if you don't know where the fugu came from you should probably avoid it! (unless you like playing deadly fish russian roulette....))

christmas is officially over which means i have 364 days to get a life and get too busy to go to family christmas or come up with a really good excuse to never see these people again

#gee how was everyones christmas #my uncle tried to convince everyone that that story r*publicans tell about the furry kid getting to use a litter box #at the school bathroom was true. bc he heard it on j*e r*gan. so of course it’s true #then an entire conversation about pronouns ensued.#they leave tomorrow i literally don’t know if i’ll make it. i’ve been hiding in my room all day bc i have a pounding headache #and also i have my period then i have to listen to that on top of it all. if 2023 isnt looking drastically different by february #i’m killing myself for real #on top of all that too there are 6 of us sharing 1 bathroom and one of my cousins doesn’t wash his hands or flush the toilet so everytime #someone goes in there /i/ have to go in after and sanitize everything like. i’ve never been so happy christmas is over.#also that same cousin is sick bc he’s been coughing for the last 2 days and also leaves his snot tissues uncovered in the trash can and yes #it’s green tmi i know but that means bacteria if i’m not mistaken and anyway i’m so tired of it i am so tired of them i’m just laying low #until they leave. i hate it.#oh! and then i had two computer monitors that my mom gave me bc her job let her keep them when they gave her new ones #and i was like sweet now when i move and finally have space i can have a setup with two monitors bc she. gave. them. to me.#anyway last night my cousin started using her monitor. without asking. and she was like oh ok. .. but u can use these and also u can #take one of them with you when you leave! like what the fuck fr when u gave them to me #and yeah that completely sounds like first world problems i know but it’s like. don’t give things to people…and then…give them…..#away……..#anyway. going back ot my original life plan of marrying rich and dying young and never seeing these people again.
