The purpose of a non-violent segment of a movement is to show that even when the oppressed are acting in the non-violent way that critics have deemed is the only VALID avenue for them to obtain their rights/freedom/equality, the oppressors will still subjugate, brutalize, and murder them as if they WERE acting in violence. By definition, the oppressor does not believe that the oppressed are as human as they are. Non-violence alone against a force that does not see your life as equal to their own or your existence as having any worth, will not result in the end of your oppression. It is only through those who DO understand you to be human and to have worth that any benefit is gained through non-violence.

Non-violence is one part of a larger whole used by the oppressed to obtain humanity from the inhumane. A few of the other sections of that whole include economic pressure, education, and yes, in most cases historically, targeted acts of violence. The importance of any given part of the whole depends on the situation and each situation of oppression throughout history in which positive change was made required their own unique blends of tactics from this whole.

Also I LOVE all of the transparent genocide enablers out there saying that if the Palestinian people wanted the occupation and oppression they've been experiencing for 75 years to end they should just try non-violence… Bith, what do you think the Great March of Return was?!?!?

An enemy that bombs and uses white phosphorus against civilians doesn't know nor practice what your broken moral compass describes as "peace". Freedom was proven throughout history not to be achieved through kneeling and asking the oppressor to kindly stop. Freedom needs to be taken by force. Your little Utopian way of thinking doesn't work in the real world. Your feelings don't matter because you're not the one living under occupation. Your feelings don't matter because you're not one of the thousands of children who lost their limbs. You're not one of the children who became orphans due to this genocide. You're not the mother who lost her child to the carpet bombing. You're not the father carrying the remains of your child in plastic bags. You're not the newlywed woman who lost her husband. You're not the one at risk of either getting killed any second or losing your loved ones in the blink of an eye!

"Peace" is not really a thing you see during a live ethnic cleansing!
