On Sept. 21, The New York Times provided a perfect example of Israel Derangement Syndrome in a column written by Michael Walzer, a professor emeritus at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, titled "Israel's Pager Bombs Have No Place in a Just War."

As is well known, last week, pagers used by Hezbollah terrorists exploded, killing a handful of them and wounding hundreds more. Amazingly accurate, the exploding pagers killed very few noncombatants. 

Hezbollah is the Shiite and Lebanese equivalent of the Gaza-based Sunni Hamas. Like Hamas, Hezbollah has one purpose: to kill as many Israelis as possible and eradicate the Jewish state. Hezbollah has fired more than 8,000 rockets into Israel in an attempt to kill as many Israeli civilians as possible. Tens of thousands of Israelis have fled their homes in northern Israel and have not returned in nearly a year.

That Israel is being attacked for killing Hezbollah terrorists is proof that, according to the vast array of Israel-haters -- the political, media and academic left, and Muslims in the Western world -- Israel is not allowed to defend itself. It should now be obvious that the current hatred of Israel is not a result of Israel's bombing of Gaza. When Israel targets Hezbollah terrorists -- and only Hezbollah terrorists -- it is equally condemned.

Which brings me to the Times column by Walzer. 

Walzer writes: "The explosions on Tuesday and Wednesday were very likely war crimes -- terrorist attacks by a state that has consistently condemned terrorist attacks on its own citizens.

"Yes, the devices most probably were being used by Hezbollah operatives for military purposes. This might make them a legitimate target in the continuous cross-border battles between Israel and Hezbollah. But the attacks ... came when the operatives were not operating; they had not been mobilized and they were not militarily engaged. ... It is important for friends of Israel to say: This was not right."

According to Professor Walzer, terrorists can only be killed when they are "operating," "mobilized" or "militarily engaged." If they are not doing so, it is a "war crime" to kill them. Furthermore, the mere fact that these members of Hezbollah had those pagers -- devices the professor admits "probably were being used by Hezbollah operatives for military purposes" -- means these terrorists were "operating." That's why they had them: to plan and carry out operations against Israel.

That, dear reader, is derangement.

The issue I have with everyone screaming "what about the children and innocent civilians" with Israel retaliating to Hezbollah is that most of yall saying that said nothing, nada, not one ounce of empathy for the Israeli children and Israeli innocent civilians harmed by hezbollah.

And this doesn't mean that because yall didn't care about innocent Israelis that I'm not going to care about innocent Lebanese civilians as I still very much do care. I'm just gonna be sitting here side eyeing yall. Especially those of yall who havent said shit about innocent Israelis yet claim that I and other jews who have expressed empathy and that we care about innocent Lebanese civilians surely mustn't care because we haven't reached out quota of posts about it to be seen as good jews.

When he says "destroy Israel" is he speaking about the people of Israel--as in he believes Jewish culture itself is the origin of capitalism--or does he specifically mean the modern government state of Israel, which would imply he believes capitalism was invented in the late 1940s and everyone had just been doing something else before then?

Nearly 500 people in Lebanon have been killed. In a day. It’s absolutely horrific. I’ve long been afraid it would come to this. Israel is turning Lebanon into Gaza. They are trying to drag the US into a war with Iran.

I often think about historical forks in the road, moments when a society must choose to go down the path of war or the path of peace. That path is chosen long before a conflict comes to a head. (My daily worry is that China and the US have already chosen the path to war, that it’s only a matter of time before the consequences of their cumulative geopolitical choices are realized).

One of the few good things to come out of Obama’s colossally disappointing presidency was the Iran nuclear deal, which was secured to the chagrin of the psychopath Netanyahu. Normalizing relations with a country that was no real threat to the US was the sensible thing to do. It was a step on the path to peace, a step toward greater regional stability in the Middle East too. Trump ripped up that deal and assassinated Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, putting us back on the path to war.

Despite Israel’s outrageous provocations, the Iranians have been remarkably restrained. Israel literally carried out an assassination on Iran’s sovereign territory. In Tehran. On the day of their new President’s inauguration. And after that, Iran did not take the bait by retaliating. Let’s also not forget…Israel bombed Iran’s embassy in Syria, an egregious violation of the Vienna Convention of 1961.

I fear that because Americans have Iran Derangement Syndrome we will sleepwalk into this catastrophic regional war. Netanyahu is playing Biden like a fiddle. Someone make this madness stop. No arms to Israel. The war in Gaza and Lebanon must end.

An appalling anonymous letter on behalf of a "collective" of Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) staff sent to their president has been made public. Among its list of "demands" includes this horrific statement:

The letter also refers to the IDF as the "IOF", so automatic F for childishness right there. The rest of it is just as bad; it implicitly blames the October 7 massacre (which isn't even mentioned once) on Israel:

Silly me, I could've sworn the "source of the violence" was when Hamas, the ruling political party of independent, unoccupied Gaza, broke the ceasefire and massacred 1200 Israelis and internationals and kidnapped another 250 to torture and sexually abuse in their tunnels 🤪

But on a more serious note, this revolting letter exposes the level of Israel Derangement Syndrome that has gripped society - finally, the leftists can revel in their Jew-hatred without consequence.

The AHRC is the national human rights institution of Australia. It's a statutory body that's funded by the Australian Government but operates mostly independently. Its responsibilities are primarily in investigating alleged infringements of Australia's anti-discrimination legislation in relation to federal agencies.

So what fucking business does its staff have in demanding the institution, and therefore effectively all of Australia, to not accept the IHRA definition of antisemitism? They don't forbid any other ethnic group from defining what counts as discrimination or racism against their own group. But Jews? Oh, they can't fucking wait to go after Jews - but only to criticise Israel and the evil Zionist lobby, they swear!

I genuinely wonder how someone can rightfully say "never trust politicians, for they're power hungry maniacs out for themselves" only to then tell people to shut the fuck up when someone doesn't like Democrats? "OH BUT TRUMP AND REPUBLICANS ARE SO FUCKED UP AND EVIL" yes, agreed on that, let's not vote for them, why should we never criticize Democrats for anything? Especially when the Democratic candidate onscreen is open about supporting Israel? And another note - I think it's fine for performers to express their opinions during interviews, even if I disagree with them and I believe it's their job to perform, not pretend they are UN Secretary General. However, I don't think calling for people's exclusion will necessary start a productive dialogue and build bridges. As I've said from the start: this is an opportunity for people to bond over what they have in common - their love for music - not focus on differences or try to solve world problems. Baby would help out much more by throwing a benefit concert or doing volunteer work with palestinians (either in Gaza, WB or even those living in Ireland).

One of the more disturbing symptoms of what I and other Jews refer to (with a dark and bitter humor) as "Israel Derangement Syndrome" is how quickly such individuals not only become hypocrites, but self-harming hypocrites.

There are no shortage of examples of hypocrites since October 7: feminists who deny the mass rapes on Oct 7. Landback advocates who deny Jewish history. Anti-torture advocates who support Hamas. Human rights advocates who support Hamas and the Houthis. And so forth.

But the self-harming hypocrites are a whole level beyond those examples, because their anti-Israel stance has the possibility of doing themselves real harm.

Let me give an example:

Leeja Miller. YouTuber, lawyer, and civil rights advocate. She has an entire series on "How [subsection of the US Right] Has Ruined Everything", and did several videos on the danger of a second term for Donald Trump, including one dedicated to Project 2025. That is the openly published plan to remake the US into a dictatorship under the next Republican president, giving details on how they will target minorities to have their rights stripped away, our legal protections against abuse by the rich and powerful weakened or removed, and generally make the US into a real life version of the Handmaid's Tale. So she knows what is at stake, directly and personally from her research. She knows how many people will be harmed or die under a Republican presidency, and how much it will harm the world at large if Trump gets back into the White House. It's not just the US population that will be harmed, it will be places like Ukraine, Taiwan... and Palestine. Because Trump and Netanyahu are fellow wannabe dictators.

And her Israel Derangement Syndrome is so severe that she just uploaded a video saying that, due to Biden supporting Israel alone, she can no longer advocate that her viewers vote for him.

Leeja knows what is at stake both in the US and in the Levant, and knows how Trump will give Netanyahu a full green light to do whatever Netanyahu wants. And yet, she is so fixated on "punishing Biden" for doing diplomacy and trying to rein in Netanyahu that she is willing to accept the risk of Trump regaining power.

And that's not only hypocrisy, that's hypocrisy that can have massive consequences for her and other people like her. And just to be clear here. She's not alone in this. She's just the best example due to her position as a lawyer and educator on the law and politics, and still is so fixated on this that she, and others like her, will advocate for positions that have the potential to harm hundreds of millions of people, because of the conflict in Gaza.
