Despite having one of the worst titles of the year – perhaps thevery worst one – My Old Ass turns out to be a sweet and charming coming-of-age film with a slight supernatural bent.

The film’s high concept – that a teen girl named Elliott (Maisy Stella) is smoking mushrooms with friends in the woods and somehow comes into contact with her 39-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza) and ends up being able to continue to communicate with her future self and learn about what is coming for her life, for better or worse – is a fascinating and intriguing idea. Yet, at the same time, this plot thread is mostly dropped for long periods of the film, and honestly, it’s not missed all that much.

This seems like a strange statement to make because Aubrey Plaza is terrific as adult Elliott and every time that she is on screen the film perks up. Still, I could see a variation of this story without the whole idea of the older Elliott, and it probably still would work out pretty well.

Elliott is a high school senior, comfortable in her lesbianism, who lives in a gorgeous farm by a lake in the wilds of Canada. She hangs out with her friends and girlfriend and can’t wait to go off to Toronto for college and leave her small town behind.

During the mushrooms episode, adult Elliott tells her a certain amount about what will happen to her and how her life will turn out. She also has one specific piece of advice for her younger self – to stay away from a boy named Chad. Of course, she meets him soon after that, and to her surprise, Elliott – who had never even considered that she may be bi or even straight – finds herself having feelings for him. This puts her in an awkward position, she has been warned away from this guy but finds herself drawn to him.

In the meantime, other parts of her world start to fall apart when she finds that her father is planning to sell the family farm. While Elliott felt that she was desperate to leave the place behind, she never imagined that it wouldn’t still be there for her if she ever wanted or needed to return. This puts strain on her relationships with her father, mother and brothers.

To make things worse, suddenly she is unable to contact her older self to talk it all over and get advice about what she could and should do with her life. So, she tries haltingly to figure it all out for herself.

My Old Ass turns out to be a sweet and charming look at growing up, surprisingly funny and heartfelt. It’s definitely worth giving a chance, despite its title.

Backstage X Bar Boys Part 1: Rafael

Shortly after filming and promotions for "Coco" is completed, Héctor and Ernesto decide to visit a new bar in town. There they meet three men, two of which also work in the industry but to varying levels while the other one is the bartender/owner of the bar.

Let's talk about Rafael Herrera Meza first:

Rafael Herrera Meza is a triple threat in the industry, and is the second Latino entertainer ever who has won an EGOT (followed by Robert Lopez, another talented songwriter who co-wrote "Remember Me" with Héctor), while also working as a talent scout/music producer. His charisma stage presence is on-par with Ernesto's and Héctor's, and his baritone voice is second to none. However, off-stage he is a shy and anxious man with the driest humor known to mankind.

He used to act in telenovelas, movies, and musical theater during his prime as an actor before making music production his main thing.

If you think Imelda Rivera's social media life is private, Rafael's is even more private nearly to the point of nonexistence. Nobody knows anything of him outside of his career. His strong feelings towards the paparazzi, his age (he's around forty or so, and yet he already has a few streaks of white on his jet black hair), and his familial connections to the Herrera Oil Company also play a role in making him extremely private. He is also very rarely seen on interviews and social events, unless he has an obligation to attend.

Because of how private he is, whenever a project is revealed and Rafael is somehow involved it is considered as a major cultural event. The thing is, he also up in the most unexpected places. One minute you can see him as part of the cast for a Hispanic remake of Parks & Recreation as its equivalent to Ron Swanson, then the next time you see him he is on the cover of Vogue México along with his longtime friend/protégé Ronaldo, and then you see his name in the voice actor credits part of a video game or an animated series, then you see his name as the producer for México's greatest hit of the season, and if you are extremely lucky you can even see him sing with the local mariachi just for the fun of it.

He is very embarrassed to admit it, but he is more than aware of how women see him. Particularly younger women. Their reaction towards him is similar to how people see men like Pedro Pascal, Hugh Jackman, and Oscar Isaac. He did think of becoming a father before deciding on the life of an eternal bachelor, but being called "daddy" or "papí" in this context is not what he signed up for. He does appreciate the gifts from fans. After his trusted secretary Brenda sorts through them, of course.

He is just as shy and anxious as he is private, and this goes up by the tenfold when he is with a woman he is romantically interested in. And it just so happens that the woman he has been crushing on for a while is none other than the renowned opera singer/actress, Rosita Álvarez, who was also a supporting actress for "Coco" as Tía Rosita. Héctor and Ernesto, along with Miguel have been trying to set a date for the two of them.

Rafael met Rosita during a charity concert the both of them were a part of. Rafael was impressed with Rosita's soprano and wished to work with her. Well, that's what he would tell you. In reality, he was smitten the moment their eyes met when it was his turn to get on stage. Rafael noticed Rosita gazing at him from her seat, and before he knew it he winked at her as an attempt to flirt.

News of Rafael Herrera and Rosita Álvarez dating was well received by fans of both parties, with references to them being the cutest middle-aged couple. Their relationship is also just as private as Héctor and Imelda's, if not more due to Rafael's dislike of paparazzi and the fact that paparazzi don't go after opera singers that much either, much to Rosita's delight.

After around three years of dating, they got married at a church near Rafael's childhood home in Jalisco. The wedding was simple and was only attended by family and friends including the cast of "Coco", but due to Mamá Herrera's insistence on something more lavish for the two of them she gifted Rafael and Rosita tickets for a cruise all around the world. Here are some of the major (and minor but interesting) ‘Teen Mom’-related things that happened over the last week or so…

Kail Lowry Says She’s Considered Adopting or Fostering Kids

Kail has shot out seven—count ’em— seven babies over the past 15 years, and the former ‘Teen Mom 2′ star has made it clear that her baby birthin’ days are over. While Kail insists she will not be shooting out any more kids, that doesn’t mean her family will stop growing.

During the most-recent episode of her Barely Famous podcast, Kail revealed that she is very open to the idea of adopting or fostering a kid (or kids) who need a home. She also talked about why she doesn’t want to have any more pregnancies, despite her live-in lover, Elijah Scott, feeling like he may not be done having biological kids. (As fan know Kail and Elijah share infant twins Valley and Verse, as well as son Rio. She shares sons Lux and Creed with Chris Lopez, son Lincoln with her ex-husband Javi Marroquin, and son Isaac with ex Jo Rivera.)

“I definitely think that the journey of me carrying children is over, and I’m confident in that,” Kail said. “I’m solid in that decision. I’ve loved my time [pregnant] and I appreciate the opportunity, but we’re moving on now. That chapter has closed.”

Kail mentioned that Elijah– who got a vasectomy earlier this year— had a bit of “snippers’ remorse.”

“I don’t know if it’s regret. Just, like, realizing that that door has closed, that chapter has ended kind of thing,” Kail said.

While she may not want to birth another child, Kail said she is interested in expanding the family even more.

“Would I adopt a child? Maybe I would explore an opportunity like that,” she said. “Maybe not even adopt, but, like, maybe foster a child. I feel like that would be more of something that I would entertain more than, like, IVF or something. Because that feels like a lot. And, I don’t know; I would rather help another child that needs a home than bring another one in. Like, I think 7 is a lot.”

Kail— who, earlier in the podcast episode revealed that, counting her live births and miscarriages, she had been pregnant for more than 10 years of her life– said she doesn’t want to shoot out any more babies.

“This has been a 15-year journey for me. Right? Like, I’ve been having kids for 15 years,” she said, adding that Elijah has “only” welcomed three babies in three years, so he’s more open to having another one.

“We don’t have three toddlers yet,” she said. “When we have three toddlers, he might be like, ‘Wow. I’m glad that we didn’t continue with our own.’

“With the foster[ing] situation, I don’t know what that looks like. I’ve never explored it,” Kail added. “I’ve never really entertained it before, but we might be able to foster, you know, a baby and then hopefully they would reunite with their mom or their parents. Or we could foster a toddler or an older kid and that might be a very different experience, too. Like, that would fulfill us in a different way.”

Kail— who also recently had her tubes tied— said that she is not interested in pursuing IVF to get another baby.

“Like, I personally am not willing to put my body through it. I don’t wanna deal with the hormones,” she said. “I get it, that’s some people’s only option. But for me, personally, I would rather explore the idea of, like, adoption, foster, surrogacy.”

Kail said she has even brought up the topic of adoption to her plethora of kids.

“I asked the kids …I was like, ‘Hey, what would you guys say about, like, adopting a toddler?’ Lincoln was like, ‘Can you adopt one my age so we can play soccer?’ And I’m like, ‘You literally have siblings for that.’ I was thinking more so, like, toddler and up…Those are the children that need homes. Like, they’re the ones that need [homes] because people want [to adopt] babies. They want [to raise them] from infants to adult. Right?”

Kail is not the only ‘Teen Mom’ alum with a desire to adopt a child. Maci Bookout has stated for years that she and her husband Taylor McKinney would like to adopt or foster a child; however, in April she said that she and Taylor are not currently in the position to do so. However, Maci remains open to the idea.

“Even if it was fostering and not adoption–- just fostering in hopes that they do find adoptive parents-– I could never take it off the table,” she said during an interview last month. “But right now, it’s just not realistic for what we wouldn’t be able to give, everything that would need to be given and what we want to provide. It’s just not possible right now.”

David Eason Reportedly Bans Daughter Ensley from Filming ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ Season 2

Jenelle Evans’ return to the ‘Teen Mom’ franchise has hit a snag, leaving her with one less person to film with.

As The Ashley previously told you, shortly after kicking her swampmate David Eason to the broken down boat curb earlier this year, Jenelle was asked to return to the franchise she was previously fired from. However, according to The Sun, David is not allowing his and Jenelle’s seven-year-old daughter Ensley to partake in the filming festivities. 

The aspiring “rapper”– who was fired from MTV back in 2018– reportedly told ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ producers “no” when they contacted him to get permission for Ensley to film with Jenelle and Jenelle’s two other children, Jace and Kaiser.

“David hates MTV,” a source told the outlet. “There was no way he was going to allow them to film with Ensley after they fired him and then Jenelle.

“They’ll have a really hard time filming around Ensley, she’s a whole personality so I’m not sure how that will go down,” the source added.

While Jenelle’s oldest son Jace will be able to film without issue as his father, Andrew Lewis, doesn’t have custody or any rights to the 14-year-old, nine-year-old Kaiser– whom Jenelle shares with former fiancé Nathan Griffith– will only be able to film under certain conditions, per Nathan.

“Nathan knows the kids being on the show can set them up in the future,” a source told The Sun. “He’s currently in talks with MTV and he’s ready to allow Kaiser to be filmed, he just wants to make sure the money is protected for his son before he gives a definitive yes.”

As The Ashley has previously stated, parents who have shared custody of a child (like Jenelle and David currently have for Ensley) have to both consent in order for the child to film for the show. 

Javi Marroquin & Lauren Comeau Reveal Why They Chose the name Maizee Joelle For Their Daughter

Former ‘Teen Mom 2’ dad Javi became a girl dad last week when his longtime girlfriend, Lauren, gave birth to their daughter. As The Ashley previously reported, the baby girl (who is Javi’s third child and Lauren’s second) came a few weeks early and hadn’t been given a name when the couple announced her birth.

Over the weekend, though, Lauren and Javi announced that they have named their daughter Maizee Joelle Marroquin…and the Internet had…thoughts… on the interesting spelling chosen. In a series of comments on the Instagram name announcement post, Lauren revealed the way she and Javi came up with the baby’s name and it’s unique spelling.

Maizee–pronounced “May-zee,” according to Lauren— was chosen by her, Javi, their son Eli and Javi’s son Lincoln.

“It was on my short list [of baby names] and then we let the boys chose between my top 2 [names] when they came to visit her,” Lauren explained in an Instagram comment. “The Linc and Jav decided on the spelling. Fam effort lol!”

“I’ve never seen the spelling before,” Lauren told another person in the post’s comment section. “The boys picked it, but I love it…”

Lauren confirmed that the other names they were considering were Nora and Remi.

“Maisey was just on my short list of names I love, I thought Maisey Marroquin was adorable. Joelle is what Eli called her before we even knew it was a girl so that’s where Sissy Jo came from & we wanted to keep that,” Lauren told another person.

Kail Lowry’s Son Isaac Posts Video Roasting Kail’s Past Red Carpet Looks 

After years of creating content and filming storylines based around her children–- including eldest son Isaac Rivera– Kail Lowry got a taste of her own medicine over the weekend when Isaac posted a video rating– and in some cases, hating– on some of Kail’s red carpet looks from over the years.

Isaac– whose dad is Jo Rivera– kicked off his video with an ensemble that Kail wore the MTV VMAs in 2016. Before going on to complete his description of his mom’s fit, Isaac paused to let everyone know his thoughts on her hot-roller hairdo.

“In my opinion, the hair was NOT eating,” he said. “It just doesn’t look good.”

Isaac then slammed his mother’s decision to wear a see-through red lace top…with nothing underneath.

“This is not cute to me and I hope she’s wearing a bra under this,” he added. “What is going on? Also, what is going on with her nails? It kind of looks crazy.”

Onto look No. 2— a black lace jumpsuit that Kail sported at the 2018 MTV VMAs— Isaac gave his stamp of approval on Kail’s makeup, emphasizing that “she looks so good.” As for Kail’s nails, however, once again, Isaac wasn’t a fan.

“Why are the nails green but she has a gold purse?” he asked. “The hair is eating. The makeup is eating. I don’t know what even to call this but it’s a black outfit. I don’t even know what to say.”

Isaac absolutely lets his mom have it as he moved on to look No. 3, which showed Kail wearing a long sleeve black dress at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards. (Kail’s escort for this event was— randomly— Isaac’s dad, Jo.)

“What do you look so old in this picture?” he asked. “The hair? Getting there.”

For look No. 4, Isaac treated fans to a two-for-one critique as he shared a photo of Kail and her former ‘Teen Mom 2’ co-star Leah Messer at the 2019 MTV VMAs wearing semi-coordinating denim and bustiers/bra looks on the red carpet.

“Leah’s wearing a cute top, but she could’ve picked better pants for this,” he said. “Leah’s shoes, they look like elf shoes. What is mom wearing for her earrings? You look like you’re in a cult. The shoes, the makeup, it’s alright, I just think you can do better.”

As he wrapped up his video, Isaac declared look No. 2 as “the best overall,” though he declined naming a “worst overall” look.

‘Teen Mom’ fans seemed to enjoy watching Isaac playfully poke fun at his mom’s best and worst looks from over the years, and even after catching some strays herself in the post, Leah encouraged Isaac to keep the videos coming.

Kail also seemed to find humor in Isaac’s post after insinuating in the comment section that he posted the video without her knowledge.

His parents were killed when their home town was set on fire, He managed to escape and take Joel with him. After fleeing Mike and Joel had nowhere to go and led them to escape Mexico and cross the Mexican Border. After months of strong heat and cold weather at nights Mike and Joel manage to make it out alive and start fresh in the United States. Joel was only 6 when they made it across and Mike was only 14 years old when he made it. It was Very challenging for them to adjust to the surroundings and having no parents with him. Mike was able to get a small part time job at a cinema and raise enough money to get his little brother everything he can to make life easy for him. One day While Mike was working and Joel was in school there was a big earthquake and that's when America stopped and looked at the sky to see a big planet with rings and fire. Mike ran to get his little brother but when he got there it was too late Joel had died because of the earthquake. His brother's death causes him to lose control and be full of anger but he can't do anything. Mike would find a soldier and ask him how he helped and that's when the soldier told him to come with him. It was like America was coming to an end as alien ships were coming down and Demons were Crawling out of the big hole caused by the earthquake. Mike Had flashbacks from the fire in his hometown and realized this exact thing happened then and it's happening now. While being driven to safety from the soldier he sees a Serum in the back of the Army truck and wonders what it does. Demons attack the truck and kill the soldier as they drag him out of the window and Mike runs to the back but falls and as the truck flips and loses control Mike thinks he's going to die.MIke Drinks the serum Praying it does something and boom,  a beacon of light shines in the sky and Mike flys up glowing green, his eyes were bright white and his energy felt hot as if the sun was closer to earth. Mike Realizes he's not normal and panics thinking that he's dead and it's just a dream. That's when someone out of ship comes out flying, tours him and presents himself as The devil of the galaxy. Mike is young and scared and is not sure what's going to happen.

about the setting!

grr rawr is an ocverse that takes place at elysian university, a fictional college located in rhode island. the plot centers around 22 students, all of whom are actually the reincarnations of the famous ancient greek heroes; except, they don’t know that. all they know is that they have been tasked with fighting monsters that have appeared with the powers that have been bestowed upon them. however, not all is as it seems as the gods always have their own agendas.

Personal Opinion: This sequel to Burn Zone and High Heat was everything to me. Tucker Ryland, a partnerless dad and demisexual is suddenly reunited with his first love, Luis Rivera. They have a lot of history and baggage together but is it possible that they could still work again? Childhood friends and second chances, this book truly has it all!

Likes:

- Definitely the best book in the series (thus far) because the stakes do make sense. Linc wanted to leave to put distance between himself and Jacob. Garrick had thought that Rain wanted to leave because Rain wasn’t the staying type. But if the older guys had just talked and truly listened to Jacob and Rain, it would’ve made their relationships go a lot smoother. Luis and Tucker had a history that proved they didn’t work due to distance. Luis had family and career obligations in LA while Tucker had kids and a social network in Oregon. There was no clear answer to how they would stay together but it was clear they wanted so badly to try and be together. Basically I’m saying I like this book more than the others because the solution to their problem wasn’t as obvious. It took real sacrifice on their part for them to work.

- Communication! There was no reason for a deadly fire for them to realize they couldn’t stand to be away from each other. But also, when they had been reunited after two decades of radio silence, they finally decided to clear the air about their past. Both of them were able to admit their fault in what happened between them. Tucker was afraid and Luis wasn’t being flexible. But in the end, Tucker grew up. He was able to break away from his phobic father and brother and embraced himself as a demisexual man who just so happened to be more inclined toward men. And I love that he had that open line of communication with his sons and with Heidi about it. About how he wanted to be himself and wanted to make sure that his children understood that he would love and respect them no matter how they identified.

- Just the mere fact that we had a character on the asexual spectrum at all is honestly so amazing. And the fact that Luis was so respectful of that when they were having sex was so adorable. He never pushed for sex, he was perfectly content with cuddling and dates and feeding Tucker and it was just domestic bliss.

- Speaking of domestic bliss, I am never going to get over Walker walking in on Luis in the kitchen after the night he had just fucked Walker’s dad. I mean, talk about awkward and hilarious! But Luis handled it well and all of his interactions with Walker were honestly so pleasant. He became a sort of confidante for Walker when he was going through a tough time and didn’t know how to talk about it with his parents. I love that. I also love the fact that Wade was so supportive of his dad getting laid. He even gave Tucker a condom! Those boys were raised right and I think Tucker, Heidi, and Isaac should all be very proud.

- I don’t think I talked enough about Wade. He is literally just so funny. The way he supports his dad and Luis. The fact that he proposed going to Disney the moment his dad said he might be job hunting in California. The fact that he eats like a pig. He kills me.

- I also need to talk about the fact that they ended up in California with two kittens! Like they didn’t stay in Oregon like the other two couples did and I support that! But I also love that they’ve stayed connected to Garrick and Rain and hopefully Linc too. And oh my god, Garrick’s dad was also in the book and he offered veggie options to Luis with absolutely no comment or double-take on the amount of queers in his son’s home. He’s come so far and I love them all so much.

Dislikes:

- A shame that Jacob didn’t get any lines in this book at all. He’s not exactly relevant huh. Which only makes me think about the fact that Wyatt really made all of the queers in town suffer and for what. Luis actually remembered that bigot so he clearly left an impact. And I’m guessing Luis was one of the few out people in their school too since Garrick had only come out five years prior and both Linc and Tucker were in the closet. Ugh, I hate thinking that Wyatt made people feel bad to be themselves, especially if they already had families doing that. Tucker didn’t deserve a shit dad and brother like that. To think that they would actually shut him out too. But I’m glad Tucker stood up to them when they were out here talking shit about Heidi. Just fuck them. All bigots.

- Fuck Mary Anne too. She made all these plans for her future with Walker and then just ended up falling for an exchange student? She made him feel like he had no choice but to stay with her in Oregon even though his dream was to be a marine biologist and those courses aren’t available in their state. Like, she is truly a terrible girlfriend if she thinks she can just control him like that. But the fact that she wasn’t shown at all made me feel better because I knew she and Walker weren’t going to last. And I was right. In the end, they broke up around January. And I’m glad Tucker and Luis are there to comfort him.

- Not many gripes in this book to be honest. Would I have liked for them to not fight? Yes, but unlike in the other books, no one had stormed out or said something to truly hurt the other. The bar is so low but they barely managed to step over it. Besides, this seemed like a reasonable couple fight and one that didn’t raise red flags for me.

Meet the New Yorkers Who Say They’ve Given Up on the Subways

Florin Petrisor swapped the No. 7 train for an electric scooter and never looked back.

Claire McLeveighn started walking to work and hasn’t been on the subway since last March.

Isaac Himmelman began the pandemic without a bike or a car but now he’s “the proud owner of both.”

They are among the millions of New Yorkers who once rode the subway daily, but who, one year into the pandemic, have found other ways to get around — while largely staying away from the transit system.

“It’s the freedom of riding the scooter wherever I want, at any time and it’s much more reliable,” said Petrisor, 40, a dog walker who commutes between Queens and Manhattan on an electric scooter he bought last March for $1,200. “This is how I look at it: I used to buy the unlimited MetroCard every month, but with this scooter, I have gotten my money’s worth and then some in 10 months.”

MTA data shows subway ridership stayed north of five million on weekdays throughout the first week of March 2020 as COVID-19 began to climb. As late as March 6 — five days after the first confirmed coronavirus case in the city emerged — there were 5.2 million daily trips.

But it marked a fleeting ridership peak that, within weeks, would crumble by more than 90% as the pandemic took hold and the subway system turned into what one commuter described last April as “an underground ghost town.”

While ridership has rebounded to nearly 1.8 million trips a day — or about 30% of what it was prior to the pandemic — the MTA is still trying to win back straphangers who have continued to stay away from the subway in large numbers.

The collapse in ridership has also forced the transit agency to repeatedly seek billions of dollars in emergency federal aid as officials call for more police amid a disturbing spate of crimes in a less-trafficked system.

Business leaders say the return of safe and efficient subways is crucial to the city’s economic recovery, and hailed the recent restoration of overnight service to all but two hours daily as a good sign.

Meanwhile, some transportation advocates say there’s a bigger opportunity to transform how New Yorkers get around: On Monday, Transportation Alternatives released a report calling for 25% of city car space to be dedicated to use by people by 2025.

‘Everything Changed’

Asked how the subway can regain riders, MTA officials pointed to cleaning and disinfecting efforts in the subway, along with mask-wearing requirements.

“We are pleased that millions of New Yorkers are once again relying on public transportation on a daily basis,” said Sarah Feinberg, interim president of New York City Transit. “Our commitment to providing a safe and dependable way for customers to get where they need to go remains steadfast.”

But the MTA must contend with riders reluctant to return not only because of safety concerns, but who have moved on to other ways of getting around.

“It was my sole method of transportation before, but once the pandemic started, everything changed,” said Meghan Addison, 31, who used to get to work by subway from Brooklyn to Manhattan. “I just don’t foresee myself using transit unless it’s in the winter or for longer distances.”

Addison, who is now working remotely for her job at a tech company, travels almost entirely by bicycle and said that’s unlikely to change even after COVID-19 is under control.

“There are just so many things you can’t prepare for or predict in New York,” she said. “There is something really liberating about not having to rely on a subway.”

McLeveighn, who previously commuted on the No. 4 train from The Bronx to Lower Manhattan, now treks more than a mile from her home in Kingsbridge to an office in Morris Park on days when she isn’t working remotely.

“It’s a good [long] walk,” she said. “But after having been in a lockdown, it’s kind of enjoyable to walk to the office.”

‘People Aren’t Rushing Back’

Edgardo Rivera, 42, has relied on his yearly Citi Bike membership to commute from Bushwick to his job in DUMBO, Brooklyn, saying the 25-minute ride is “for my health” and tops what would be a 45-minute trip by subway.

“We’re a city of commuters and people aren’t rushing back,” he said. “There is a big mental hurdle and you’re talking to a native New Yorker who’s not afraid of the train system, like someone from out of town might be.”

The number of bicycle trips across East River bridges has gone up, according to city Department of Transportation data, along with usage of Citi Bike, the bike-sharing network.

More New Yorkers are buying automobiles, too, as THE CITY reported last summer. In four of the boroughs, the number of vehicle registrations increased by nearly 40 percent between August and October.

Beatrice Lors-Rousseau, 33, of Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, said she has not been on the subway since going on maternity leave in December 2019, choosing instead to travel by car.

“We’re thinking about our exposure to others,” said Lors-Rousseau, 33, whose parents live with her family.

Rivera said elected officials, the MTA and employers need to “be on the same page” about encouraging people to eventually return to the subway.

“They’ve got to do something about saving mass transit,” he said. “New York is a city that relies on mass transit whether there is a pandemic or not.”
