Hi! So I just found out that Isaac Albéniz was Catalan. I’ve heard some of his works on classical radio; what is he famous for composing? Are there any other Catalan classical composers we should know about?
I'm sorry, I started answering and left this in my drafts and forgot!
Yes, Isaac Albéniz was Catalan from the village Camprodon. His most famous work is a collection called "Iberia" of music inspired by places around the folk music of the Iberian peninsula, most importantly Andalusia (south). One of the most well-known songs is this one, called Asturies (located in the north, on the Atlantic coast):

He's one of the most famous composers of the Catalan modernist music movement. The other most famous one is Enric Granados

and also Josep Anselm Clavé though he's more famous for his role as creator of the workers' choirs than by his compositions.

The 90's electronic dance music felt quite eclectic as some outfits defied their own scenes with their understanding of them. Eurodance had many as such with Jam & Spoon beingprobably one of the most intriguing ones thanks to them having a certain classicism. Yes, one of the members, Jam, was classically trained, which can be heard really well in their biggest hit, which presented them as one of those machine players that listen outside the box of the genre they were in. Of course, we mustn't forget the tune functions thanks to the vocals, which possess an emotionality that doesn't go over the top. Plavka could have gone full diva in this, yet she holds back to serve the melody that shouldn't really work in a dance floor setting. Nonetheless, Jam & Spoon made that happen.

'Albéniz: España, Op. 165: No. 3, Malagueña. Allegretto’ performed by Laura Lootens
Laura Lootens, a winner of the Andrés Segovia Competition in Spain, performs here Malagueña, from the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz's work España. This work was originally written for piano, but Laura Lootens has arranged it herself for solo guitar.
An incredible arrangement played with formal mastery. Featured on her latest Albéniz focused album. Out now via Deutsche Grammophon
