so many variables like is it an isekai? does he know nightwing's identity? was it just a random coincidence? and like, dick has the skills and experience to breeze past that and not let anything show, but i think it'd be Way funnier if this was an isekai au and vines didn't exist in the dc universe. or at least not that specific one. so dick breezes past it but is also mentally freaking out like "shit that sounded really sincere... does he know? how would he know? there's no way he knows. does he know??"

i find big buff traditional hollywood celebrity alpha dave in a suit to be handsome like everyone else but i can't help but think of him as this scrawny eccentric socially awkward dude extremely dedicated to nothing except his abstract radical performance art. fans develop images of him but there's nothing of himself he deliberately puts out into the world besides his projects. no real friends, no lovers. fronts and fake personas galore. isn't trying to waste his time and emotion on people he'll lose anyway. that kinda thing

I just finished The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton, and I have to say---there's nothing like setting your novel among the youthful and arty to confuse a reader as to whether you're being overly pretentious and sticking monologues in characters' mouths, or if you're cunningly and accurately parodying how the most annoying Art Teens would like to speak every moment of every day, if anyone would let them.

#maybe six of one half dozen of another.#it is very moving! and the framing - the uncertainty over what is a narrative; what is a performance (and for whom) is great #as a first novel I think it's an incredible achievement; it took me a minute to sink into #but if you let it rush over you it's a lovely text and the images are uncompromising but very human.#(plus what I think of as that particularly kiwi sense of cutting humor!)#but more than once I had to roll my eyes because. well. I have been friends with theater people.#........I am no longer friends with theater people.#from the bookshelf #next up on my list is some graphic novels because I read a couple last month and find myself interested in the medium

i can just imagine childe beating the abyss’ will down with a stick whenever it tried to make him take on a new form like it’s a particularly bad dog

genuinely unsure how to answer this ask because on the one hand yes, that's kinda funny and it would indeed be something like that had the abyss essentially come back to him time and time again like 'new form? 😳' and childe would've slapped it away like 'no!!!' like some sort of shitty spam email that lands on your regular inbox without fail, BUT

uh

the abyss only wanted him to take on one form. in cyanide that form was the foul legacy, and to be frank childe did take it. he just refused to remain with that form. and also like- for it to have reached the 'haha the abyss is like an insistent dog' status, it would've had to have been-

not agonizing. like i get the joke but the process of rejecting the abyss' insistence on taking the FL form was not only a one-time process, but also like- nearly cost him his life. so uh.

#IF the abyss had then returned with a new form for him to take and then proceeded to do that again and again #over the course of a long-ass time #enough time for childe to get powerful enough not to nearly die everytime the abyss insisted he change clothes #then yeah it would've eventually devolved into that dynamic #but i do remember childe menioning how the abyss 'offers' you one (1) form #it's not a thing that's constantly trying to turn you into a different monster #more how durin and the melusines and elynas see the world differently #and so the abyss sees all things differently #and by being within it you sort of subject yourself to its reality. and if its reality has you in a different shape #that's where the problems come #but afaik the 'different' sight the melusines and elynas and durin have isn't one that shifts and changes #i may be wrong on that tho #for the purposes of cyanide it's a set reality #it's just not one that aligns with the normal reality and that's what causes problems #what nearly kills childe is finding a way to remain in the shape he was born in as the abyss is essentially dismembering him #and the FL transformation is him gaining enough power to dismember himself into the form the abyss wants #and then dismember himself again back into his usual human form #so it feels- odd; to think of it like childe beating the abyss with a stick like a bad dog #not that i don't see the humor of course #like i said i don't know how to answer this ask hahah

عاد الدكتور باسكال أندريه، أخصائي الأمراض المعدية الفرنسي، من مستشفى غزة الأوروبي في خان يونس. وأكد على الظروف القاسية السائدة وسط انهيار نظام الرعاية الصحية وتفشي الأوبئة بين آلاف النازحين الفلسطينيين.

عاد الدكتور باسكال أندريه، أخصائي الأمراض المعدية وطبيب الطوارئ (المسؤول في روديز)، إلى فرنسا يوم الأربعاء 21 فبراير، بعد أكثر من أسبوعين في المستشفى الأوروبي في خانيونس، قطاع غزة. كان في مهمة مع وفد طبي من الأطباء الأردنيين والأمريكيين، أرسلته مؤسسة رحمة الأمريكية وجمعية بالميد (فلسطين الطبية) إلى آخر مستشفى رئيسي يعمل في القطاع الفلسطيني. التقينا به عندما نزل من طائرته في مطار رواسي شارل ديجول.

كيف يبدو المستشفى في غزة اليوم؟

باسكال أندريه: لجأ 25,000 نازح إلى المستشفى الأوروبي في خان يونس الذي يتسع فقط ل500 مريض.

داخل المباني نفسها ، الأماكن مكتظة بالكامل. فمثلا، يضم جناح الجراحة المصمم ل 40 مريضا 110 أشخاص. يعيش اللاجئون ال 70 هناك منذ أسابيع ولا يريدون الانتقال، حتى الذهاب إلى الخيام في الخارج، لأنهم مرعوبون من المرور بأشياء فظيعة (مثل قنصهم من قوات الاحتلال الأسرائيلي لو خرجوا كما حدث في بقية المستشفيات) ..هذه الظروف تمنعنا من القيام بعملنا بشكل صحيح.

في الممرات أو الردهات أو غرف العلاج ، يجري تمديد الملاءات لخلق مساحات من الخصوصية. تنام عائلات بأكملها في المستشفى في كل مكان. عائلة إحدى ممرضاتنا تنام في المرحاض. الأطفال يركضون.

يعيش الناس في المستشفى في ظروف غير صحية. معظمهم لم يكن لديهم سوى زي واحد لمدة ثلاثة أو أربعة أشهر. في عدم وجود الصابون ، يستخدمون محلولا كحوليا لتجنب نقل الجراثيم. مع عدم وجود المال لشراء الحطب، يمسكون بصناديق ويحرقونها لطهي الطعام. نحن ، مقدمو الرعاية ، نجد أدويتنا متناثرة ...
