saw a post on bluesky about how this person was scared that reverse 1999 will reveal itself to be just as racist as hoyoverse. This made me thought about it, because hoyoverse was always a bit racist, Carole being the most racist point of the company if my memory is right (and i think she was also the first playable character with dark skin that hoyoverse released).

Reverse 1999 really didn't release more dark skinned characters after Mor Pankh, but the characters were really good and well done (they are some of the most beloved characters of the game). This is something really important because be full of white characters is just the basic of gacha games, a big problem but something common to all gacha games. But when Hoyoverse introduced Carole in honkai impact 3rd, well, it was kinda polemic because she have as a one of her personality traits HATING THE FACT THAT SHE HAVE DARK SKIN, and they made her white in some official arts, but she still have dark skin in game, something she was born with because her mom also have it and Carole is all worried because she thinks that her skin is ugly and tries to become as white as possible.

That's the different between hoyoverse and Bluepoch games, yeah it is bad that bluepoch didn't introduce more dark skin characters after Mor Pankh, but i don't think they will ever reach the same level of problem hoyoverse have, hoyoverse problem is more than just cultural appropriation, hoyoverse is openly racist

I watched An Idea of ​​You.

I didn't know I needed Nicholas with a beard until I had Nicholas with a beard - my god, I love this man and his acting so much. In that scene where he goes to her house for the first time, the conversation at the table and the way the sun hit his face, seriously, how beautiful.

And I also didn't know that I needed to see Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine in the same film until I had Anne and Nicholas in the same film.

I certainly wasn't the only one who didn't know who to look at in the kissing scenes and stuff, like, Jesus, the chemistry. The whole movie had a whole meaning about their relationship and the age difference and Solène being a mother and everything, and I loved it, but seriously...these two

i just finished the doll factory and i’m so disappointed, it was a such an interesting premise with so many good elements (the double/mirror with the twins, the dolls, taxidermy, model vs painting) but it didn’t lead anywhere

i hated the deliberate misleading narrative to make the twist more “surprising” silas having imagined everything was fine but louis’ house being called the factory and the “missing models” that ultimately meant nothing was very annoying

also silas being the bad guy left a bad taste in my mouth, the socially awkward outcast is evil and the misogynistic fuckboy is actually the nice one? seems like a bad thematic choice

maybe the point is that louis actually listened to iris at some point and silas didn’t? or maybe that someone who names their iguana guinevere and throws a birthday party for her can’t possibly be evil?

also i might have missed something here but why did silas even kill bluebell???

again someone on twitter calling Nami from One Piece Useless just because she's not a fighter, but this time, they also compared her with Sakura... i'm tired of this bullshit.

If we talk about utility, Nami is just the most important character from the straw hat pirates, she is the Navigator, the crew would be dead before the grand line without her, literally.

Nami is a great character, not perfect, but a really great character and one of my favorites from One Piece, she is not a fighter so she barely give us cool fighting scenes, she is not strong, but she is really smart and she uses her inteligence a lot, her personality is amazing and she is just the best. But, the problem is, battle shounen fans only measure the utility of the character in battle scenes, if the character is not powerful, they became useless and female characters in battle shounen suffer from this a lot.

Compare Nami with Sakura is bullshit because Sakura was expected to be just as strong as Naruto and Sasuke, but the manga never delivered that or show that and Sakura kinda does nothing on Naruto, she have no real character arc of her own, everything about her spin around Naruto and/or Sasuke, and she also have nothing of a deep personality either. Sakura is badly written, just like all female characters in Naruto. Nami on other hand, is an amazing character, she does have some problems, she is not perfect, but she is her own character and her story is remembered as one of the big moments of one piece, even after a 1000 chapters, everyone remember her story with kindness, because is just perfect, Arlong Park is just a perfect arc that develops Nami a lot, it kinda defines her.

One Piece doesn't expect nami to be as powerful as Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Jimbei, because her job on the story is totally diferent, she can fight, but she can't defeat someone like big mom, because the story doesn't expect her to be able to do that and she still great, not perfect, but great.
