"Let alone a calm and gentle mom" I wonder what Sabine is like in their world to make Emonette feel like she's so alone.

I like how they handled the villains tbh. I wasn't a fan of making it seem like Marinette was one step away from becoming a supervillain at all times, but it seems less like that's the case and more like The Supreme took advantage of her suffering and vulnerability at her lowest moments.

It's also nice that they established that Shady and Claw weren't the actual big bads and are just hurt kids who got recruited into a fight they weren't ready for. Their motivation isn't some rehash of Gabriel's, they are literally trying to survive under the rule of someone who will kill them if they don't do his bidding, and because of whom they're dying. Their life is literally full of suffering and they're trying to find something that'll give them a way out. Shady wants Marinette's life, and Claw Noir wants his mother back.

Like, it doesn't excuse their actions, but it does add a more humane element to them that lends itself better to the kind of redemption Miraculous likes to do, which is to fix things with a speech. That's why this redemption works, and Gabe's doesn't.

Anyway.

The back and forth between Chat Noir and Claw Noir was pretty funny ngl.

And we discover that Claw Noir wants his mother back. Of course.

MY POOR BABY

When Marinette was talking about how she was also angry and hurt, but chose to love herself and the world around her and chose to try and fix it... that hit hard. Honestly, it did. It's everything I love about Marinette in one speech. I love it.

And then onto my personal favorite scene in the entire special, possibly in the entire show.

That whole conversation was powerful. "I'm as well as I can be anyway," that's so profound. Like, of course you aren't going to be 100% okay after losing someone you love, but Adrien wants to move on and be happy like his mother would have wanted him to. This scene really showcases Adrien's empathy and his strength, when he acknowledges that having no friends can make it harder for Claw Noir to move on, and then he tells him that only he can make the choice to stop being alone. And that's really true. This scene really showcases everything amazing about Adrien, his hope and optimism, his empathy and his strength. How he finds the strength to keep going by choosing to not be alone. It's beautiful.

Like, it could have been so easy for both Marinette and Adrien to give into their darkest impulses, and Shadybug and Claw Noir really are just representations of how letting your hurt overpower you can lead you down a dark path, and it really highlights their strength, that they choose to make the right choices everyday, despite everything. It really highlights their characters and their arcs. And they're able to take everything they've learned, and look at what they could have been in the eyes and help them change too. It's so poetic.

It would have been a little more impactful if the show had spent more than 10 minutes out of 5 seasons focusing on Adrien's grief and how it has impacted him, but whatever.

Anyway, it also had some Adrien and Nino friendship crumbs, and I'll be darned if I didn't gobble it up like a starved animal. Also, we have confirmation that "Space Mutants vs. Ghost Shark" is Nino's favorite movie, so Nino stans please say "thank you Paris special."

And they are REDEEMED.

Shadybug fixes everything with her Lucky Charm after spending the whole special making destructive ones. My heart.

Shadybug and Claw Noir stop being evil and immediately go from hating each other's guts to flirting shamelessly. They just speedran enemies to lovers in a matter of seconds. They literally just defaulted to flirting. Truly, the natural state of Ladynoir in any universe. We stan.

Gotta be honest, I'm not a fan of the new designs. Wish they had kept the old ones. I'm one of those people whose toxic trait is liking Claw Noir's design, so I'm a little unhappy with it, but hey, it's a sweet scene.

Also, Claw Noir's hair went from the color of rotten bananas to ripe bananas. If that was intentional, I applaud the writers for being both profound and funny as hell.

Aaaaaaand Gabe is back, because we can't have nice things.

The montage going through different realities was great, it was small but I enjoyed it.

They're literally so cute omg. Couple behaviors fr. I'm so obsessed with them.

And they're gone. But their adventures will continue forever in my mind and in my fanfics. And in other people's art that I will ravenously consume.

Cute Alya and Marinette scene. This is really sweet, I love the exploration of the impact Alya has had on Marinette's life.

And now, I'm not an Alyanette shipper, but I think they should kis- oh, wait, never mind, they did it.

And thus, the endless night comes to an end (it happened a while ago but that's just semantics).

Final thoughts

I really loved this so much. Sure, there were some exposition dumps that probably should have happened in the actual series, but that's not the fault of this special. This is probably my bias talking but this is the best special and it's literally perfect, no I will not take any constructive criticism on that. This, this special and everything in it, this is what Miraculous is all about. This is exactly what I wanted, this is what I signed up for. It's literally the best thing ever to come out of this entire show.

Is Dan's shadow a succubus? Or more appropriately an incubus?

Homie, how would I know?! I'm watching the same show as you. If I knew what that shadow was, I wouldn't need to suffer through the last seven episodes. I was too busy being scared for my life the first seven episodes to truly think about what that shadow was, and now I have to sit through seven more just like alls the rest of ya to figure this puzzle out!

But why are we gendering the shadow? Is the shadow male? To me, the shadow is just energy, possibly a physical manifestation of Dan's trauma; therefore, is it an extension of him. Like Peter Pan's shadow!

@kenjiyabuki went full big-brain and noticed the painting in the background of Brother Anurak's office is Henry Fuseli's The Nightmare.

Ain't no detective like a Tumblr detective.

And because of this, I immediately went to my favorite art historian (I go to departments often asking BL-related questions which is one perk of working in higher ed), and she immediately said, "It's about sex."

More specifically, repression of desire.

Not everyone subscribes to this interpretation, but . . .

There is a mirror and a vial of water in the left bottom corner on the table in the painting. Mirrors mean truth and serve as a bridge between the two worlds (truth/lie, life/death, conscious/subconscious), while water (describe as a mirror-like substance) also serves as a bridge between two worlds. We don't see the mirror fully, so we don't see the truth of the situation, but two worlds are colliding within the painting.

We've seen a good amount of mirrors in the show.

And water.

The show doesn't have a crazy-looking horse in the background unless we are considering the makruk pieces, which are called "horses" and not "knights" like in chess, the horse in this scenario.

That's a stretch even for me, but we still have the bare basics - a person with the weight of desire resting on him.

A desire to be comforted when nobody holds him.

A desire to be protected when he feels abandoned.

A desire to feel normal.

And Trin had the same desires.

There is definitely some funky business happening at the school because Trin and Dan are linked through their desires and experiences, but the shadow was there long before Dan stepped onto the campus.

Detour - In the third episode, the monk told Dan in order to change his karma, he needed to forgive when the time came after Dan saw his dad briefly playing makruk in his dream. At the end of that episode, Dan saw his father's ghost while he was acting the ghost scene from Hamlet, which is a play about revenge and forgiveness.

The shadow led Dan through a tour of his family's happiest moments in episode four right before he encountered his father again.

And his father asked for his forgiveness.

To which Dan said "hell to the no"

And this is why I think the shadow IS Dan. The monk told him to forgive to change his karma. The shadow led Dan to do just that, but Dan didn't; therefore, he didn't beat his karma and ghost-dad told Dan he was becoming everything he hated. Was this conversation all in Dan's head? Was he, through the shadow, guiding himself to be better than his father? And did he override his subconscious to seek revenge instead because that's what he truly desires?

More interestingly is what shows up every time someone chooses revenge over forgiveness - Trin! Rather than the shadow lurking in the water after Dan's dad died, Trin was waiting for him.

Trin was waiting for him in the bathroom to lead Dan into the funhouse when Nai decided to teach Anan a lesson.

And Trin showed up right before Anan attacked Dan.

Each time, the mirrors and water are present, so wouldn't that make Trin The Nightmare?

Of course, I, a color demon must mention how I find the use of red fascinating mostly when thinking about it in correlation to the painting since red is behind the nightmare figure.

And it spreads underneath the sleeping person in white as if that innocent person is being surrounded by this desire.

All of this is to basically sum up that Trin has a face. The shadow doesn't. Trin is a person. The shadow isn't. Just like those headless figurines the locals use as stand-ins for them to appease the wild ghosts and protect them from harm, Dan's faceless shadow could be his way of protecting himself and hiding his desires from outside forces.

And Trin could be a way to expose all that's hidden, including those desires.

Psycho-Pass Providence:

my attempt to write a movie review.

I finally went to the movies and watched Psycho-Pass Providence with a friend last Tuesday. I knew the film would be packed with plot and action so we decided to see the German dubbed version. We just wanted to have a good time, and some nachos with cheese dip and beer. The cinema was maybe a quarter full which I don’t think is too bad for a weekday. There even was a girl cosplaying as Akane. I was pretty nervous the whole day. After reading so many negative reviews on Tumblr over the past few months, I prepared myself for the worst. Will Providence ruin this series for me? Is Shinkane dead? My friend encouraged me by saying, “watch the movie and form your own opinion”, and that’s what I did!

Providence is a diffuse colossus of a story but I liked it much better than PP3. The story is very action-heavy and plot-driven. You can feel the absence of Urobuchi’s writing because relatively little emphasis is placed on the emotions of the characters or their development. The dialogues are rather short and the action scenes quite long. Explosions and battles largely replace social criticism. Precious moments are few and far between. I think Ubukata came up with a really cool and offbeat plot, it’s just way too big for one movie. He should have made Providence into a series with many episodes, but that’s just my opinion. I can’t shake the feeling that he simply placed the characters into his massive plot as if they were chess pieces. Everyone does their job. They rush from one action to the next. Saiga is dead. On it goes. Akira is dead. There are no breaks. The ending is also very rushed and if I hadn’t already known why Akane shoots chief Kasei, I probably would have left the cinema with a massive question mark.

The Shinkane content in Providence is quite nice. And to say it right away: yes, I saw their hands touch in that bridal carry scene. It was very clear and less rushed than I thought. I’m just not sure if their fingers were intertwined or if Kogami had his fingers around Akane’s hand squeezing it. The phone call was also funny. My friend just sighed in her seat next to me and said a little too loudly: “I can’t believe Akane is in love with this clumsy idiot! Why can’t he just apologize?” Yeah, why? Akane hung up the phone and her face was so adorable. The romantic comedy was only perfect when Saiga cheered Kogami on in the elevator afterwards (“Come on, make an effort!”) and Ko acted like a petulant child (“I don’t know what you mean!”). Really, Ko? You were playing dumb in front of sensei? Was Kogami embarrassed that his former teacher was interfering in their relationship? However, these two were in dire need of counselling that’s why I found the idea of Saiga acting as their therapist quite entertaining.

I still don’t know what to make of Shinkane in Providence. I have too many thoughts and feelings, that’s why I’d like to deal with this topic separately in another post. Shinkane is not dead at all, but it hasn’t evolved either. Each of them basically does their own thing when it comes to work and I can’t shake the impression that Akane would have found Kogami rather unsexy if she had met him for the first time in PPP. I love Kogami, but he doesn’t contribute much to the story except that he saves Akane’s life in the end.

Now that I’ve seen the film, it sounds more than absurd to claim that they have no other relationship than a collegial working relationship. I mean, it’s obviously not work or a shared conviction that ties them together and makes Akane answer the phone late at night, but their old acquaintance. They have an unresolved personal conflict between them, and a wide range of unexplored emotions. All the social awkwardness fits in with that. And the creators even went one step further with the romantic scenes:

I already knew about the scene in which Kogami jumps on top of Akane (and between her legs) to protect her from an explosion but I didn’t expect the whole thing to play out in slow motion. Holy shit! My heart leapt. I mean, what am I looking at here if not a romantic subplot? You can see every detail crisp and clear: how his hands are embracing and protecting her head from the impact, how their bodies stick together rather indecently. And Akane and Ko don’t immediately get up and run, no. They stay put for the time being looking at each other and then Ko states the obvious like a brain dead fool: “It’s a dangerous place, we should retreat.”

Yeah, well… who would have thought that explosions and shootings would be dangerous? Kogami’s blood must have gone from his brain to some other part of his body, there’s no other way to explain this level of silliness. We’ve already seen Kogami protecting Akane from an explosion before. He threw her like a sack of potatoes in the movie but THIS is something else entirely. THIS is screaming “You’re the most precious person on earth to me”. Same goes for the bridal carry. The scene isn’t as rushed as their encounter in the wheat field, no. The animators kind of savour their last scene in Providence and you have to be wilfully blind to not notice Kogami’s affection for Akane or their touching hands.

I can understand the widespread criticism of Kogami’s strange behaviour in PPP. It’s not quite what I expected either, but I didn’t expect anything else. Sounds crazy, huh? I know. I don’t know if Ubukata’s writing style is to blame for Ko’s derailment. I guess the writers deliberately wanted to create some tension in the form of personal conflict which is a common and cheap trick that can also be found in romantic YA literature.

It is nevertheless credible to a certain extend. Kogami has returned to a world with a wall between latent criminals and citizens with healthy Psycho-Passes. Social conventions are a corset. They make us act differently. The fact that he doesn’t hit on Akane actually says a lot of good things about his character. He knows nothing about her life, except that it hasn’t gone down the drain yet. What role does he still play in Akane’s life? Does she even need his help? When you look at Kogami’s issue with addressing Akane properly, it becomes clear that he’s uncertain: kanshikan, omae, anta, yo. Akane has already gathered a team around her and Kogami is standing outside the door. He’s the odd man out. He’s also an incorrigible idiot who doesn’t have it in him to apologize.

They give each other nothing at first. That’s why I like the scene in the hospital so much because it changes their relationship for good. Akane’s visit is proof to Kogami that he is important to her. She cares about his health and she even takes the cigarette from his mouth. Akane also invites him to join her team (“We’re a team, right?”) and you can see the relief on Kogami’s face. After that, their interactions become lighter and more honest. Team PSB and Team SAD no longer go separate ways.

I really like the camaraderie between Kogami and Frederika. I found them both very independent in their work, which led me to ask whether Frederika is his boss at all. I read somewhere that they both have the same rank of “special investigator” which also fits in well with the way they talk to each other. I remember Akane asking Kogami during their phone call what Yabuki thought of his past actions. I guess that makes Shogo Yabuki his boss and Frederika his senpai? There was one thing that annoyed me, though, and that was that Frederika did everything her boss Yabuki told her to do. She even kept it a secret from Kogami that they were using Saiga as bait. Why didn’t she say “no” for once?

Providence has a few highlights that I just can’t leave unmentioned. It isn’t the best film, but it’s also not as bad as many have made it out to be. The scene in which Gino grabs Kogami by the collar, calls him an asshole and pushes him roughly against the glass pane of the office was quite the cliché. It could have come straight from a fan fic. Kogami remains calm and I don’t find him arrogant. Sugo tries to intervene, but I had the impression that it’s primarily Akane’s staged indifference towards Kogami that keeps Gino from exploding with rage. Gino pulls himself together the moment he sees Akane entering the office. If there’s one thing I love about their dynamics, it’s how they always try to protect each other in the most subtle but effective way. Gino is like the big brother we all want to have. He is by Akane’s side after Saiga dies and he reminds Kogami of the duty to not let Akane become a latent criminal. I can’t say often enough how much I adore Ginoza and his loyalty to Akane.

But Gino does not only protect Akane, he also saves Frederika’s life twice. These two have a little scene in Providence that I find cute. Standing amidst the ruins of the building after the battle, Gino asks Frederika how she is. She says “not too bad” while stroking her hair almost sheepishly like a schoolgirl. Is it the first time that a colleague asks Frederika about her well-being? Is this how things are at the SAD? I never saw Kogami turn around to look at her, even though she always saves his stupid ass from getting kicked. And her boss Yabuki only ever entrusted her with the most dangerous missions (aka “dirty work in the name of justice”). It really sucks to be a strong woman sometimes. It sucks when performance is always expected without complaint. That’s why it’s all the more refreshing when a hot guy like Gino asks if you’re still alive, right Frederika?

Overall, it was very cool to see Frederika on the battlefield since she’s quite capable and knows how to handle weapons. I didn’t like her passive role in PP3, where she just sat in her neat little office and gave orders. PP is kind of understaffed in terms of female characters so it was good to see Frederika having a more active role this time. I hope that in the future they will give her a backstory. It’s more the personal things that make a character interesting for me. I mean, what was her relationship with Yabuki? She shed a tear after his death, or was this just an optical illusion?

There was nothing to complain about the quality of the animation in Providence. It was first class. The wedding was beautiful and I really liked the colours and fireworks of the Chinese New Year festival in the streets of Dejima. It made a nice contrast to the gloomy dark dystopian world of Sibyl. The Chinese New Year also brings me directly to the scene that, oddly enough, touched me the most: Akira’s death. Atsushi Shindou shoots him on the roof of the MoFA as the fireworks go off and with his last words Akira says, “Take care of Kei, I want him to have a different life than mine.” It was a beautiful but also very sad moment. There were many deaths in the film but the pace of the story was way too fast for me to mourn them properly. It’s a shame, especially since most of the time was spent on action scenes. I don’t know how many minutes I watched Sugo trying to shoot a satellite out of the sky with his drone.

Saiga’s death is tragic but it has great influence on Akane. In the end, his last words (“justice and truth are multifaceted”) encourage her to stand up for her convictions and turn against Sibyl in order to uphold the law. I noticed that Saiga is already very tired at the beginning of Providence, as if he no longer expects anything great from life and prefers to pass the baton to the younger generation. Perhaps that is also why he tries to persuade Kogami to bury the hatchet with Akane. “You should apologize to her. Take this advice from an old man like me.” It seems that he wanted to leave the world in peace, knowing that he has given his students all he could give. So from that point of view, his passing is dignified. His hands are even folded and placed on top of his chest after he dies. I couldn’t help but think that it is meant as a religious gesture: that he will be accepted by God if not by Sibyl.

Sibyl is as disgusting as ever and that’s all there is to say. Their hypocrisy is simply unbearable. And then no one has the courage to stand up for the preservation of the rule of law – least of all the Ministry of Justice. What a joke! We also learn that it’s totally fine for Sibyl to give absolution and sovereignty to a group of criminals (the Peacebreakers) as long as they come from their own criminal ranks. Well, one crow does not peck out another crow’s eye, right? I don’t know whether Atsushi Shindou could be trusted or not, although he has pulled some important strings in the background. The old man seemed weary just like Saiga, but he thought very highly of Akane and campaigned for her in front of Sibyl which made him likeable in my eyes. He was also a good mentor.

I must not forget to mention the true antagonists of the story, first and foremost Tonami the White. He is the leader of the Peacebreakers, a group of former soldiers and mercenaries of Sibyl who see themselves in the tradition of a cult. They worship a similar AI like Sibyl that also has wired brains in boxes and they see it as their God and commander. The cult did seem rather bizarre and fantastic sometimes, but I got the impression that this is exactly Ubukata’s style.

Tonami is a despicable man. He tells Akane that despite his old age, he can still take on a young girl like her, then he draws a gun and starts to shoot her. Congratulations, man! She’s unarmed, and pulling a trigger is really not much of a feat. Asshole! He was clearly afraid that Akane would be superior in a fistfight.

I remember a heated debate on social media about whether Kogami should have killed Tonami or not. Well, I would argue that he had no choice but to shoot this man if he wanted to make sure Akane got out of there alive (“Protect Tsunemori!”). Akane looks relieved when she sees Kogami. She smiles at him as if she knows that her life is safe from now on. But then she continues to provoke Tonami with her words. The man points a damn gun to her head and she has already been shot twice and lies bleeding on the floor in handcuffs. Should Kogami twiddle his thumbs and wait to see what happens? Well, he does. But only for a moment.

Kogami’s face is empty while Akane is being tortured. It’s devoid of emotion, not even anger shows on his face. I was like: huh? I first thought it was bad animation or some artificial intervention to evade romance and keep the Kouakas from losing their minds, but in retrospect, it occurred to me that perhaps… Kogami is simply listening to the conversation in front of him? Akane and Tonami are talking about the Sibyl System and it’s true nature. They are talking about AI vs. humanity. They are talking about integrating this other AI into Sibyl and the boxes with the brains are standing just a few meters away from them. Snippets and fragments, but Kogami isn’t stupid. It was him who found a decapitated professor Stronskaya on the ship. Her head was taken away by the Peacebreakers and we later learn that her brain was put into a box for their AI. Kogami has been wondering for a while what kind of influence Akane has on the system. And even Tonami (who calls her “a witch that disturbs the social order”) is kind of astounded at what Akane knows and what she is capable of.

Kogami agrees with Tonami and then shoots him in the head. I really don’t know which part he agrees with. I can only explain it by saying that, unlike Akane, Kogami has lost faith in humanity. Kogami knows what humans are capable of and that they are easily corrupted. But he believes in Akane, so there’s that. It’s only natural that he would save her at any cost.

I didn’t perceive Akane as angry though. She knows Kogami well enough and wanted him to come with her on the mission. Kogami “breaking the law again” certainly saddens and disappoints her, but I don’t think she necessarily wants to enforce him. Atsushi Shindou shot Akira in front of Akane and she didn’t arrest him. If she were now to arrest Kogami, she would have double standards. I remember director Shiotani saying in an interview that Kogami voluntarily let Akane arrest him. Well, that actually sounds quite logical to me because I honestly don’t see Akane taking the initiative. But Kogami acting like a repentant little puppy in front of Akane, the “goddess and bodhisattva” he expects to make the world a better place? Yes, I can very well imagine that – only that at this point she is just a bleeding human being in his arms.

Akane’s incident was… wow. I knew what she was up to beforehand, but I still found the whole thing quite mind-boggling. Where did Akane get the gun she shot chief Kasei with? Everyone was looking forward to her inauguration. Gino, Sugo, Shion and Yayoi… they were watching it on TV. What has my girl done?

I wouldn’t go so far as to blame Kogami. There is a trend right now to make him the scapegoat for everything that happens to Akane, but somehow that is not right and would completely undermine Akane’s independence. There is no guarantee that the arrest and prosecution of Tonami would have worked. Sibyl is not a reliable negotiating partner. I think Akane chose a more effective way by immediately involving the public and getting them to discuss the preservation of the law. At least, it worked. But why the letter to Kogami? It wasn’t a tit-for-tat response. I think Akane wanted to say goodbye. She didn’t know what would happen to her or whether they would see each other again. These two threw their lives away and stood up for their beliefs in justice. Was it brave or was it foolish? Who knows. But the closing of a circle was pretty well executed by the creators of the series in my opinion.

I still have no clue why Kogami was released from confinement. I can only speculate that MoFA has negotiated a deal. I also remember that his Psycho-Pass was encrypted in PP3 and no longer accessible via Sibyl’s dominator. There is a strong competition between the ministries and certainly no help can be expected from Sibyl. Mika had to literally beg chief Kasei to allow her to send out a rescue mission for Akane who was already classified as a traitor because she went to take on the Peacebreakers on her own. Why would they let Kogami go, the traitor who killed a criminal pardoned by Sibyl in order to rescue the traitor Akane? No. He was released at the behest of MoFA. It is therefore not surprising that Akane has arranged the transfer of Gino and Sugo to MoFA. Nothing bothers Sibyl more than loyal dogs and I’m certain that these two would have been thrown into the isolation facility the moment Akane lost her position as inspector.

Okay, I’ll stop rambling now. I’d like to end this post with a quote from the friend who went with me to the movies. We saw Psycho-Pass together five years ago and I was very curious to hear her opinion. We both agreed that Akane's performance in Providence is once again superb. She’s a queen. One of the best female characters of all time. What she said about Kogami may irritate some but I can only agree: “It wasn’t his most mature performance, but in the end he could be relied upon!”

Providence was fun. It was okay. It wasn’t Psycho-Pass at its best but at least, it answered the question that has been on my mind for almost four years: what did Akane do that landed her in prison?

THE BIG FIND 2023: Day 6

The Big Find is a 10-day long Drarry fic-finding marathon to celebrate the blog’s anniversary. Below is the Day 6 compilation of lost fics, both old and new, that we’ve been unable to find. Our aim is to get as much attention to these lost fics as possible, to help people finally find their missing fics! Anyone can participate by reblogging, reading through each list, providing additional fic details, and informing us the title, author, or link of a fic, and their respective number in the comment section. Happy finding!

6.1 8th year, Harry is a bit of an ass, all the 8th years share a common room, Ron is actually the first one to befriend Draco and plays chess with him. Harry treats Draco poorly after they hook up or something so Ron punches Harry in the face. Probably AO3 but idk

6.2 post-Deathly Hallows fic. After the war, Narcissa and Lucius are dead or imprisoned. Malfoy Manor was auctioned off, Draco lives with his godfather Severus. Somehow Drarry get involved in a relationship, there is a scene where Harry gifts Draco a few things he found in thrift store like a teddy whose stomach lights up when pressed given by Severus to kid Draco who is scared of dark and parents ignore him.

6.3 ao3, E and probably one-shot. Harry and Draco are flatmates, Harry likes Draco and is convinced Draco is straight because he goes on many dates Narcissa plans bc he must marry a nice pureblood girl and blah blah. Harry is gay and has a group of friends he goes out with that are OCs, i think. The thing is Draco is a virgin and no one has ever given him a bj and Harry, as a very good friend not at all interested, gives him one. I think eventually Draco gets angry when Harry takes his one night stands home, but maybe not, not sure about the ending.

6.4 Basically Draco and Harry both speak French in this one, but Draco doesn’t know Harry speaks French as well and says a bunch of things to him that I’m pretty sure he never wanted Harry to find out (these things were romantic/sexual in nature). I’m pretty sure it was rated E Fic is not Say Anything by megyal

6.5 i remember a fic, it was a short one shot. i believe i read it on Tumblr. eighth year. i remember the line “your boy is a bit angsty” and harry finding draco sitting on a bench near the lake. i also remember pansy being in the fic.

6.6 I am looking for a fic that is probably on AO3 where Draco and Harry are friends i believe and Narcissa dies of cancer, she spends her last days in a muggle hospital. At the end i think Draco loses his memories from his time dating Harry bc he stayed in Azkaban (if I remember correctly it’s bc he was found in number 12 and taken into custody by Kingsley)

6.7 I’m looking for a fic where Draco returns to Hogwarts for 8th year, post war and either his magic is limited, or he knows not to use his magic if he doesn’t want to be kicked out of school/sent to Azkaban (don’t remember what it was, just that there was a consequence). This meant he was in a vulnerable position and Theo Nott kept bullying him. It escalates to a scene where Theo catches Draco in the shower and threatens to rape him with his wand and Harry arrives just in time before he does

6.8 I only remember that harry and draco cross through some kind of portal through a holly and hawthorn tree. Fate or magic or some kind of deity tells them they were always meant to be together one way or another eventually, but she brought them together now to avoid Harry and Ginny getting together and having a child who eill be a dark lord or some villain. She tells them that now they are boud together they can only be with one another and dont have to worry about the “evil” child every coming into existend because of their bond

6.9 fic on ao3 that was with a drunk Draco and he has a drinking problem and at slughorns party he tries to kiss harry but harry pushes him away that’s all I remember

6.10 fic I’ve read on ao3 but can’t seem to find it anymore. if I’m not mistaken, it takes place after war, and they were both working together (not sure if both of them are auror) but the case was about a girl possibly being sexually abused by his father, and draco help going through the case. i think harry once asked draco how he’s kinda prepared or at least know how to handle this type of case.

6.11 it has eventual Drarry and might be part of a series? I remember it starts from the beginning of the series and Draco either has visions or time travels, but I believe it was visions. He single-handedly defeats the troll in the bathroom and often meets w/ McGonagall for private lessons and check-ins. I remember Draco was receiving training from McGonagall, and this was a very predominant part of the storyline. I believe it was because he had visions. I think there was also something about an extreme blast of magic when he defeated the troll. Fic is not History Repeats Itself by tragicomic_relief, or The Mirror of Ecidyrue series by starbrigid

6.12 Dom Harry and sub draco. They were at some like sex/bdsm club . Draco was completely naked and was sitting on Harry’s dick while he was sitting at a bar talking to others Doms. I think it was because of the things the Doms are talking about or watching what other Dom’s were doing to their subs but draco was getting even more aroused and was squirming and whimpering. That was kinda turning Harry on and was annoying him I think so he whispered something along the lines of “stop or you'll get punished” and I think he didn’t stop and ended up getting some sort of spanking In front of everyone.

6.13 I read it YEARSS ago and have been trying to find it since! So its Draco centric- Draco is raised by Regulus (i think) he’s best friends with Cho Chang, and he has a massive crush on Cedric. (Cedric also has siblings in the fic, if that helps!!) The fic takes place around the Triwizard tournament so 4th year! From what I remember the fic had multiple chapters. I remember this scene where Draco was sitting in a bathtub having a panic attack and Cedric made him feel better. I also remember a scene where Draco ran to Cedric as he was putting his name in the goblet to  stop him and Harry making fun of him?? Theres this OC i remember I think her name was Nana Mars? And of course Cedric’s siblings- i don’t remember their names. I think the fic was tagged with eventual drarry

FOUND! 6.14 I didn’t look when it was made or ratings and all. But I remember that it started when Harry was walking towards some tower? And he saw Draco naked (actually only without his shirt). Draco had made a potion that was suppose to make him disappear, but he accidentally made a love potion, which was from a very old potionbook. So because of that he fell in love with Harry because he was the first one he saw. And as the story goes on, Harry and Draco try to solve how to break the lovepotion curse and even Hermione tries to help them. I wasn’t ready reading it and i haven’t found it anymore.. i thought it was on wattpad, but i’m not sure anymore

By the end of July 2023 I posted my first Kyoshi novels fanart and maybe one month earlier I started rebloging and commenting on posts from others, this was after I read the novels and I jumped into their fandom and then in the procces I've also got into tlok and atla (I enjoyed them way earlier but I just didn't participate in their fandoms)

Your favorite trope in fiction?

HMMMmmm Grumpy serious stoick ish x chaotic more fun (and other antonyms that matches first character idk) (whatever heituat has going on))), expressive women with strong personalities, girlfailures<3, severe stern ruthless etcetc women but caring deep down inside (optional), morally gray characters, and I'm just a little obssesed with mother daughter relationships in fiction if that counts as a trope

That might be well known idk, but sometimes for a video game character they'll hire one person as only just face model, and then differnt person as voice and acting/motion capture

Now I don't really play video games myself but since I've watched Until Dawn gameplay yeaaaars ago I still like to watch playthroughts of those choice based horror games (the quarry, devil in me, resident evil etc), and later I watch other playthroughts for different choices outcomes scenes etcetccc, The games can be kinda stupid but fun, alsooo playthroughts of adventure games(???), I usually watch them when I eat something

Also CHECK OUT "STRAY"!! I only watched playthrought too but it looks so cool, you basically play as a cat (they did good job with motion capture, feels like real cat moves and it looks so fun to play) and you're in a world when humans no longer exist and there are cool looking robots, you can stratch walls and make robots pet you but I promise it's not just that lolol it has an actual plot and wordbuilding

Aside video games I like chess but I suck big time, but for my defence I mostly played with my friend who sucks even more aHA, we downlanded one chess app for two players and played during some classes

I think I'm just interested in 3d models and graphics hehhh I like 3d modeling

I had watched over 260 works of QL when I started my tumblr in February 2024, so bear with me as I try to remember all the visually beautiful shots from the series I’ve already watched. It will take some time to go through my list of already watched series (at the same time as I’ll create posts for those I’m currently watching).

DRDT Secret Theories (Part 1 because Tumblr hates me)

My predictions about who has who’s secret. Please note a lot of this will be stretching, or what I feel will happen, without any real evidence. 

Spoilers up until Chapter 2 Episode 4, as this was written between the gap from Ep 4-5.

Let’s start with the secrets/clues we know for sure.

-Teruko has Rose’s and someone else’s

-Arturo has J’s secret

-J has Charles’s secret

If we also assume everyone was being truthful in episode four, Ace, Veronika, Nico, Arei, Arturo, David, Eden, and Charles all cannot have Whit’s secret. This leaves Hu Jing, Rose, and Levi, which I will get to later.

Eden has a boy’s secret.

Everyone knew whose secret they had, inferred from the fact that no one raised their hands to say that they had their own secret, meaning they must have seen the name.

Ace, Arei, and J seem to have the most emotional reactions to their secrets. David’s is sort of emotional, - he’s quiet and looks down, crossing his arms. We see two other reactions (Eden and Veronika), both of which are much less emotional. J’s reaction is explained by the dead-brother thing.

Presumably, no one has their own secret… except one person who I think does, so let’s talk about that.

David Chiem

Okay, I don’t trust this guy at all. I didn’t trust him from the start, and I trust him even less now.

In the scene where he was telling everyone his “secret”, his star eyes were up, indicating his fake persona was also up. Not to mention, as Whit said, there’s no way to know your one secret for sure. So I’ll assume he’s lying about that.

The only way he would be comfortable lying about his secret is if, you guessed it, he has his own secret. I imagine he’s trying to protect his actual secret by causing a murder. By telling people to talk to the person whose secret they have, he’s making a surefire way to get someone murdered. As for why he didn’t raise his hand when MonoTV asked who had their own secret… I don’t know, maybe he was already playing 4D chess?

Summary: David has his own secret.

Arei Nageishi

Well, she’s certainly got… a backstory. Yeesh.

I would’ve said her momentary silence after David revealed his secret meant she had his secret, but, well, you know.

In Episode 1, when Levi agrees with Arei that the motive is a big problem, she is quiet for a second and looks down. Along with her first reaction to the secret, it makes me think she has Levi’s secret. I’m pretty sure Levi’s secret is something about his family. Also, if she didn’t have his, there wouldn’t really be a reason to be quiet after Levi spoke. Of course, she could also be just thinking, but I think her having Levi’s secret makes the most sense. Especially because I’m 60 percent sure he kills her in chapter 3, but that’s another matter.

Summary: Arei has Levi’s secret.

Eden Tobisa

Hooray for clock girl. 

We already know she has a boy’s secret because she’s not watching her words (still love you girl), and I’ve already said I believe David has his own secret. Whit and Levi are also cleared. This leaves Arturo, Ace, and Nico. 

Personally, I don’t think her having Arturo’s secret makes sense. Not sure why, to be honest.

I think out of Ace and Nico, her having Nico’s secret makes more sense. Again, just feeling. I think it would some sense for her to have another softie’s secret. Plus, I don’t think Nico’s secret was that bad, because he’s just… Nico. Her reaction to the secret she received wasn’t too… dramatic? She just went “oh”. So I don’t think the secret Eden received was too bad. So I think it’s Nico’s secret.

Not too strong on this one, but what can you do?

Summary: Eden has Nico’s secret.

Whit Young

It’s the guy, you guys. It’s Him.

Okay, this one is mostly based on my predictions on this chapter’s victim rather than any solid evidence. I think he has Ace’s secret. While Ace cannot have Whit’s secret, Ace did not request that whoever had his secret share it. As Charles says, Whit is great for not sharing people’s secrets in public (looking @ you Arturo), so I imagine he would respect Ace’s privacy and, taking David’s idea, talk to Ace about his secret alone. The situation escalates, and Ace ends up dead. I just think Whit is gonna die in this chapter, maybe give Charles a bit of character development (or maybe I just really really want Charles to be the support), and I can’t see him being a victim. Sorry man.

Summary: Whit has Ace’s secret.

Nico Hakobyan

It’s him… the autism

In episode 1, Nico states that he was “really nervous earlier, but now I’m a little disappointed.” This implies that the secret he received was not very big. I imagine Teruko and Arturo’s secret would be very impactful, so they’re out. I think Veronika’s secret might be pretty shocking, so she’s out. I think Eden might be a traitor, so it could be that… but it also could be just a normal secret, because Eden is just… Eden. 

Summary: Nico has Eden’s secret. Pair #1

Ace Markey

He is becoming so unlikable it’s unreal.

In episode 1, Ace seems very shocked at the secret he received. I doubt a character like Ace would receive Teruko’s secret (no offense my guy, you just don’t seem very important), so it has to be someone else. The only other person I can think of that could have a shocking secret would probably be Arturo. I’m 90 percent sure he has some screwed-up secret like scars underneath his mask or what made him Like That.

So, I don’t know if this has been discussed much, but in the first episode of KP, when Chan and Korn are playing chess, the opening move is moving the king’s pawn forward two spaces, which frees up the queen and the bishop. It’s textbook chess. A popular opening move with pros and amateurs alike.

Now here’s where things get INTERESTING for me. It’s established with a fairly heavy hand in this scene that Kinn is the king, whom the queen (Porsche) protects. So this begs the question. Who is the bishop? Well episode 8 gives us a big honking huge hint, when Pete and Porsche break into Kinn’s room. Pete gives them codenames, his own being tailorbird. Why is this important?

Because if you look up the definition of bishop, it’s not simply a clergyman. It’s also another name for the AFRICAN FRACKIN’ WEAVERBIRD. So, my tinfoil hat firmly cutting off circulation to my head, what purpose does Korn have cutting loose booth Pete and Porsche? How does this help him control the center of the board in an open game? Where does the bishop (Pete) fall into all of this.

Well, in a classic game of textbook chess, you have options, with one of them being sacrificing two pawns on d4 and f4 to rapidly advance the game. And what do we see him do in the beginning of the series? We see him put Porsche in charge of Big and Ken. He’s establishing them as the pawns to sacrifice and Porsche as the queen he wants protecting the king. And what’s the purpose of our bishop Pete? Well, we already know. Our boy is a Greek sacrifice. Someone who will also inevitably be sent to purify Vegas, fulfilling his duty as both bishop and sacrifice.

So why are Big and Ken the pawns you may ask? Well, Tumblr, it’s because I think both those hos are the mole. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

it's the anniversary of tubbo joining the dsmp, so here's some general ramblings about why c!Tubbo Good

cc!Tubbo is great at acting and i appreciate him so much. his line deliveries are amazing. c!Tubbo has said some of my favourite lines on the SMP. "best of luck!" (x), "yourself" (x 56:08), "this is checkmate" (x 56:46), the entirety of the "selfish" speech (x 1:03:18), "The discs don't matter, Tommy! How can you not see that?" (x 47:04), "Hey Big Q! Look what I found" (x 10:14), the scene where he yells at Quackity for wanting to execute Ranboo (x 1:23:46), the whole "it's been a lot of fucking fun" scene with Tommy right before the election results are announced (x).... THERE'S SO MUCH GOOD STUFF. the checkmate line was improvised. like holy shit

his story is just so interesting. he went from just Some Guy, to child revolutionary soldier, to secretary of state, to a dictator's right hand man and also a spy, to president, to married man living with his piglin son and being periodically visited by his former political rival/cabinet member/now husband in his own little commune that also happens to be concealing nuclear weapons. like where else can you get a character like this

he's been through so much. manberg spy arc. hhholy shit. i adore the new l'manberg/exile arc so much and a huge reason for that is Tubbo. his acting when talking about missing Tommy is so good

his relationship with c!Tommy. they've been through so much together. the entirety of season 2 just. ow. that bit where Techno and Tommy went to visit nlm to get techno's weapons back and Tubbo like. reached out to Tommy when they were leaving (x 1:00:07). it was just a minecraft punch in his direction but i'm interpreting that as him reaching out and refuse to believe otherwise. that bit after the Green Festival when they part ways. the entirety of the disc finale. aaaaa

his relationship with c!Ranboo. they went from political rivals, to working together in the nlm cabinet, where they were already kinda friends but still somewhat distant, to better friends to the point where Tubbo believed Ranboo was the only truly loyal member of nlm (x). Ranboo was so fucking upset when Tubbo got the memory book at the Green Festival because Tubbo was "the closest person he had" and he would "never get the way Tubbo looked at him out of his head" (x 1:44:58). and now they're fucking married with an adopted son. they're genuinely one of my favourite relationships on the entire SMP it's so fucking interesting

his relationship with c!Quackity. they've been through so much together and now they're on opposite sides of a conflict that's driven by forces that were shaped by the things they went through together (-> Manberg). cabinetduo. there's so many things about their relationship i just. man.

Tubbo is so fucking funny. this is also just a cc!Tubbo thing but it still deserves a mention. teach him about the political climate of berlin. he wants to know

just his entire characterisation is so good. he goes non-verbal in stressful situations (-> the entirety of Doomsday, Wilbur's revival, a ton of stuff). he's so self-sacrificing to the point that he was completely okay with tommy letting him die for the discs (x 38:10 and 55:03) and jumped in front of a firework for Tommy at Doomsday (x 55:47) and said he'd rather "take himself out of the equation" than choose between ranboo and tommy (x) and put a fucking dead man's switch in his nukes. he takes shit other people say to him to heart (like Dream being absolutely shit to him at the Green Festival) and has terrible self-esteem as a result. he represses his emotions to hell and back.

there's just so many interesting little things about Tubbo's character. he collected old books in his little secret bunker back in manberg. he builds lots of bunkers and tunnels and shit. he canonically consumes drugs/alcohol sometimes. that gets overlooked a lot

I could go on and on and on but I think you get the point. c!Tubbo is my absolute favourite character on the Dream SMP and these are only some of the reasons why

“Stay,” Ron whispers after dinner, when everyone gets ready for bed, pale faces looking empty and wiped out. “Don’t go back to Grimmauld Place. Stay here, Harry. Please…”

Harry nods, then follows Ron upstairs, to the room where they’ve spent countless summer evenings, chatting in bed with a laugh and a cheeky grin on their faces.

They lie in the dark in silence this time, and Harry feels so cold.

Oh, the angst. You'll get a truck load of angst with this but also so much Rarry-goodness. Great story written by a talented author.

Because Draco had made Ron swear to not tell his loved ones they were dating—not yet, not until Draco was ready. And Ron had agreed. But now, as he lay dying on a sidewalk in some random Muggle town, Ron rather wished he would’ve broken that particular promise.

When Ron doesn't return home from a mission as expected, Draco has to swallow his pride and figure out what happened to him.

This is a angsty and fluffy story. Very very sweet.

I try to respond to every comment because there’s nothing I like more than talking with people about my writing and the stories that inspire it! I’m more than happy to answer questions on here too, if anyone has any!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

So, these days I’m generally a firm believer in happy endings, but in the pre-AO3 days, I used to mostly write death!fic and a few highlights actually made it onto AO3:

The Death of Spock - Spock dies during the original five-year mission and Kirk is left to pick up the pieces

Only a Fool - Watson dies at Reichenbach and Holmes is left to pick up the pieces

Honorable mention: Devoted - the inevitable tragedy of Mary Watson (nee Morstan)

Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

As it turns out, the other thing I used to write is crazy crossovers, many of which were never finished, let alone saw the light of day. I’ve dialed back on it (a little), but here are some highlights:

Millennium Death Note - currently in progress! (What if Light Yagami solved the Millennium Puzzle?)

The Mysterious Mr. Jeeves - Jeeves and Wooster x Everything, but I think the most outlandish one in there would have to be The Phantom of the Opera

Honorable mention: my old BBC Sherlock x Harry Potter - the writing isn’t great and the plot is a bit of a mess, but it will likely always be my most viewed fic

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Only a little bit and mostly just on FanFiction.net - there was one person offended that my big Star Trek TOS x TNG crossover was “secretly” Kirk/Spock. More often I get people who like most of my fics, but then get annoyed about Kirk being polyamorous or Spock being ace or don’t like how I decided to end something, which isn’t terribly helpful, but could be worse.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Nope, don’t read it, don’t write it, just not for me.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge, thankfully.

My first and dearest will always be Holmes/Watson from the original Sherlock Holmes stories

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I’ve gotten to be pretty good at finishing things I want to write, but there’s this huge Disney crossover I started writing with a friend that is glorious and complicated and almost 1/3 of the way done despite being over 90k already. Whenever I think about it, I always think that, yes, I will finish it some day, even though my co-author has lost interest, but the truth is probably not... But who knows, maybe I’ll turn around and have it done for next year’s @wipbigbang!

What are your writing strengths?

I’ve discovered a secret talent for finishing what I start, which is nice - a combination of planning and just keeping at it, slow and steady.

I think I do a good job of capturing characters’ voices, whether in dialogue or narration, and it serves me particularly well when I’m trying to imitate a style - I’m especially proud of some of my Jeeves and Wooster. I can also do some nice flowery prose if put my mind to it.

What are your writing weaknesses?

For all of my love of pretty prose, it’s easy for me to forget to describe things, so my writing can end up fairly sparse. I also feel like I could get better at integrating romance and plot - the romance often ends up getting drowned out by everything else going on, which is especially frustrating because I’m usually writing it because of the romance.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

That’s a good question. Probably Death Note (my friends and I used to ship L/Light) - that’s the oldest fic I have on my computer, at least, but I used to write on paper, so there may be something even older there. The first fandom I posted anything for is Harry Potter (a next-gen OC fic about the daughter of Bellatrix Lestrange - it’s best not to ask). I also posted my first Holmes/Watson fic at about the same time (it’s pretty bad, but I tried).

What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

I’m actually really happy with a couple of my somewhat recent longer fics:

I have been insanely busy with work and directing a big musical for my local community theatre, so I've barely had time to enjoy my favorite thing, Ace Attorney, or hang out on tumblr. HOWEVER... I have been using as much time as I can steal from my days to work on that sequel to Turnabout Feelings. It hasn't flowed as easily as Turnabout Feelings, and *many* things about it may still change, so I'm not ready to start posting it on AO3. I haven't even decided on a title yet. 😝 But, in the spirit of celebration, I'd like to post a couple of excerpts from what I've written, with the caveat that the whole dang scene/chapter might be scrapped. For now, though, just enjoy it as a stand-alone bonus ficlet.

Excerpt 1: Phoenix was used to Miles’s lavish Beverly Hills home by now - he’d spent many a weekend there since their return from Paris two years ago - but it had taken some time. First of all, it wasn’t anything like he’d initially pictured it. The house was incredibly sleek and modern, both inside and out. Not at all the stuffy, antique architecture and decor he’d imagined, but clean lines, minimalist design, and far too much white. Phoenix never asked, but he’d concluded that Miles had hired an interior designer, since only a few small pieces here and there betrayed Miles’s true aesthetic; a grandfather clock in the foyer, an ornate chess board in the media room, and a portrait of Gregory Edgeworth in an antique frame in the upstairs hallway. Otherwise, the house normally looked as if it was staged by a high-end realtor, and hardly ever touched. Which, incidentally, was true - Miles was rarely home, and when he was there, he spent most of his time in his bedroom.

All of this Phoenix had grown accustomed to. This time, however, as Phoenix walked through the door, he practically had to pick his jaw up off of the floor. The house was thoroughly decked out in elaborate decorations. Black and red tablecloths covered every surface, topped with bouquet after bouquet of red roses. Black and red streamers zigzagged above them through the foyer and snaked up the bannister of the stairs, and twinkling fairy lights cascaded down the walls. Phoenix could see the dining room just to his right, where more of the same sight greeted them. Black chair covers adorned the chairs, and a red sash was tied around each with a large bow in the back. The dining table was set for six, with place cards at each setting. Rose petals were scattered along the surface, and the centerpiece was a glittering replica of the Eiffel Tower, no doubt a callback to that very night two years before. Above all of it hung a black banner that said “Happy Anniversary” in elegant white script.

“Wow!” gasped Trucy.

“Yeah…” was all Phoenix could say. What else was there to say? He’d already laid into Miles earlier for always going too far, but this was even worse than he’d imagined. I should have known, he thought. He can’t do anything halfway. “...You really went all out,” he finished faintly.

“You don’t like it,” responded Miles. It wasn’t a question.

“No… no, it’s…” Phoenix noticed the pitch of his voice was too high, and he cleared his throat as he forced a smile. “It’s beautiful, really.” It is beautiful, it’s just too much. We’re talking two years of dating, not fifty years of marriage. Excerpt 2 “As you all know, I credit Phoenix for changing my life. There is no doubt I would have walked a dark path without his light in my life, and I… I am thankful for him every single day.” Phoenix could feel his face growing hot, and he lowered his gaze to his empty crème brûlée dish. The whole evening had turned out lovely after all, but now Phoenix was again uncomfortable with just how overboard Miles was taking it. Miles’s grip tightened on his hand.

“And so, I feel I would be remiss if I did not express my undying gratitude, and my joy, and most importantly, my love… in the only way I think appropriate.” Miles slipped his hand out of Phoenix’s, and Phoenix looked up just in time to see something that gave him a strong sense of déjà vu - the sight of Miles sliding out of his chair to kneel on the floor… on one knee. Miles reached into his pocket, and Phoenix’s mouth fell open as he produced something small and shiny. A ring.

Yes, they’d talked about marriage. But only in “somedays” and “maybes,” perhaps when Trucy went off to college or when Phoenix got a better job, and certainly not until the current mission they were on was completed. Yes, it was something he wanted - desperately - but only when the time was right. Hell, he hadn’t even wanted to move in together yet, despite Miles’s insistence that he had more than enough room for him, Phoenix, and Trucy, so why not? And Phoenix’s answer had been to wait until they were engaged, something Phoenix had thought was surely further down the line. The past two years had gone by in the blink of an eye. He wasn’t ready.

And yet… Now that he looked into Miles’s expectant grey eyes, he was overcome by his love for the man. The man who had transformed from a bitter and cold adversary to the warmest, most caring partner in life. The man who always went above and beyond and would jump through a thousand hoops just to make sure Phoenix was okay. The man who, despite Phoenix’s spectacular failures, chose to be with him every day, and was now asking to be with him forever.

“Phoenix Wright. Will you marry me?”

Phoenix’s heart began to hammer in his chest. He could feel all of the eyes in the room on him.
