Man, the hate for Yoruko and even how people treat Ayame as an extension of the Akane of their games always bother me and I think it's why I'm writing the 2 as their own characters and nor just connected to a ship.

Seeing a weird uptick in counter meta (for lack of a better term) that really wants people to emphasize that Gale or Astarion are flawed, selfish assholes instead of ~just blaming it on their abuse~ and my buddy, my guy, my pal...

Many of us engage with trauma in media because we have trauma in real life. There's not a single abuse survivor alive who has a lack of people lining up to tell them how fucked up they are, how much about themselves they should still change, and how much is their fault, suck it up and take responsibility blah blah blah.

What there IS is a lack of care, lack of nuance, lack of a trauma informed approach to abuse victims & trauma havers irl & in media, very often even by the media that depicts it. We all just saw the world fall for the dumbest DARVO campaign in the hellscape and bite-sized hatefulness of the social media age. I am NOT gonna spend time reminding you that I think this person is flawed because fucking duh.

You, whomst have not survived abuse or grooming or religious indoctrination or whatever, are also flawed. Everyone has flaws, dipshit. It came free with your fucking Xbox. You don't need to constantly qualify discussing someone's abuse & trauma with pointing at how bad they are.
