About Beads 🐾
Currently worrying a lot about my little bean of a cat. Beads has had a coryza when still in foster care. He was vaccinated and all, but as you may or may not know, when a cat gets coryza, it will always carry the virus.
Yesterday, we were strolling around in the city (as we often do, never longer than 30 minutes), him in his special travelling cat backpack, sniffing around the book store while I would look around and relax. Everything was fine, he seemed really happy, as always when we go out together that way.
However last night, his third eyelid was showing a lot on his right eye, even with his eyes opened, light seemed to hurt his vision and he would squint his eyes a lot. He was very calm, which is unusual for him at night as he is usually playful during dinner hours (he's almost 7 months old). He would also not find any enjoyment in food. My partner and I got very worried very quickly, and tried to check if something was perhaps stuck in his eye : maybe there was some dust? Nothing. We tried to find some sleep and not worry too much about it.
Today, we were very happy to see that his third eyelid was no longer obstructing his vision! But our relief was cut short when during the day, we began to notice his right eye got really foggy. We tried to feed him wet food (which he devoured!) and make sure he always had fresh water to drink so that he would be hydrated enough. Tonight, his still foggy eye started crying and we're worried sick.
We're two young adults, my partner doesn't have a job currently, mine doesn't pay enough to be qualified as a job. We struggle paying rent and paying food. I don't want Beads to suffer because of human money problems. And I'm genuinely scared for this little angel.
PS. Those pictures weren't taken when his eyes were visibly impaired. I just think they're very cute. Also, I just wanted to vent about this.

Morningbloom doesn't mean to haunt anyone, she swears it.
But when she dies, and she's welcomed into the ranks of Starclan, she finds herself lingering. She lingers as her loved ones mourn, as they hang their heads and tears stain their fur. She lingers more often than she should, to simply see and watch, because her loved ones still live there.
Morningbloom lingers as she sees Sunwish refusing to grieve. Out of guilt, out of feeling like she doesn't deserve to. The molly watches as the medicine cat throws herself into her work, into her duty. She watches as the medicine cat pushes herself again and again, learning more of her role, pushing aside bitterness to ask the other clan healers for help or advice.
Morningbloom tries to be there, she really does. She lingers every time Sunwish helps a queen successfully kit or anything of the sort. She tries to wrap her tail around the other and whisper, "Look, you're doing well! You're an amazing medicine cat."
Morningbloom finds herself often gesturing to the kits or the newly patched up warrior. She tries, and she tries her hardest to let Sunwish know that her death wasn't her fault and to please, please, allow herself to grieve.
It doesn't work, as much as Morningbloom wishes it did. She doesn't know if it's Sunwish's guilt, or her fear, but the medicine cat never listens. Shuffling away when she's no longer needed, throwing herself into making sure the herbs are always stocked.
It aches Morningbloom, but there's not much else she can do.
..
When Morningbloom descends on day, seeing Scorchstar silently stalking Sunwish, her heart drops to her stomach.
No. No no, please, no.
She races, she runs, and she tries to stop the leader. "Scorchstar," she'll try, her voice so echoy yet so desperate, "Scorchstar no!"
But she's a ghost. There's not much Morningbloom can do.
She can only watch, her starry pelt dimming with her disbelief, as Scorchstar pounces upon the medicine cat. There's an exchange of words, blame placed upon Sunwish by the leader. She can tell that the leader isn't in her right mind, but what can Morningbloom do?
As she watches Sunwish's spirit rise to Starclan, Morningbloom follows.
They meet there, and Morningbloom smiles at the other. Sunwish's ears pinned back, and she could see the former medicine cat was grasping for words.
All Morningbloom does is approach, wrap her tail around the other, and say..
"You did the best you could, Sunwish. And that's all anyone could have ever asked for."
