i've been seeing a lot of californians aghast at the proposition to abolish prisoners being used as slave labour getting voted down and i have no idea how to fix this on a societal scale but after having enough conversations with people you really do start to realise that a massive percentage of the population sees prisoners as subhuman and therefore believes that once someone is in prison for any reason then everything bad that's done to them is simply their just desserts

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

#seeing some discourse and im not saying lucy grey didnt know #im saying she never dropped the kind of hints that she knew like she did in the movie #or if she did snow isnt worried about them until he very suddenly is consumed by them #snow is not concerned about whether or not she believed him. of course she did! hes snow!#but then shes gone…. for a while……#and its the sudden immediate drastic unravelling that comes across so clearly in the book #that i knew wouldn’t translate to screen yet still cant help but miss #the hunger games #coriolanus snow #tbosas #lucy gray baird #not a crime or anything just a note that i cannot stop thinking about #the ballad of songbirds and snakes #this is all from memory of reading it quite a while ago. so maybe 3 pages is an exaggeration #but i remember it happening VERY quickly and without much external cause #like we as the reader have no indication as to whether shes nearby or not.#snow has no idea either. he just SUSPECTS. and his suspicion breeds the hatred that has been bubbling inside him all this time #he hates how she undoes him. he hates that he WOULD run away with her if shed let him keep his secrets #and he HATES more than anything that she makes him WANT to tell his secrets #he wants to be vulnerable and reveal the ugly nasty parts about himself and still be loved #but he does not let himself and it is everyone’s downfall #he chooses cruelty bc it is easy and familiar and makes him feel more powerful than the vulnerable give and take that real love requires

I can't believe I decided to read orv on a whim because I just wanted a good manhwa with no romance subplot and here I am knees deep into the novel questioning my whole life because whatever these mfs have got going on is much more nastier and visceral than any romance.

making LEAPS and BOUNDS with the feral kitten!! tonight I managed to slowly move her food onto my lap to encourage her to put her paws on me while she ate, and once that clicked, she kept kneading on my hands and my legs. I've already broken the seal w/ being able to touch her, but getting HER to touch ME seems huge, I think she's been really needing that, since I don't know how long it's been since she's been around her family. wooo progress!!! p.s. I don't have any pictures yet, bc whenever I'm with her, I'm playing a youtube video of cat purrs / trills to calm her down, and if I go to take a picture it'll pause the video. but I WILL take a picture of her soon!

#CONTEXT: she was born in our garage and we've been seeing her and her litter on-and-off ever since #we know she had at least two littermates and I've seen her mom around too #but recently she was all by herself (made her easier to catch) but I haven't seen the rest of the family (I am concerned)#obviously she misses her litter. because she's not used to being alone.#and the only way to make her comfortable is to put on a video of a mama cat trilling at her babies OR a video of a cat loudly purring #it needs to sound like there's another cat around somewhere. again. not used to being alone!#I'd like to see if I can't introduce Toby to her so she can have some feline interaction but he's kind of a cunt. so.#I'll see how I feel about that after she's continued to warm up to these new surroundings she's found herself in.#It's HUGO who truly wants to see her but I doubt a big as fuck dog is what she wants to see right now #but he's desperate to interact with her. he loves kittens.#sergle.txt

James walks around the corner of Regulus’ dorm building and sees someone pinning Regulus against the wall with his hands on his shoulders. James is on them in seconds. He grabs the guy’s arm and pulls him away from Regulus, twisting his arm behind his back.

“Touch him again and I swear to God it’ll be the last thing you do.” James seethes in his ear before pushing him away.

“Oh yeah? He needs you to fight his battles for him?” The guy taunts.

“Do you even know Regulus?” James almost laughs. “He doesn’t need anyone to fight his battles for him. I’m protecting you right now. Not him. But it’s a one-time offer. Next time I’ll just enjoy the show.” James tells him with a smirk.

James sees the guy look over his shoulder and his face pales and James can only imagine the expression on Regulus’ face.

“You’re both psychotic.” The guy says as he turns on his heel and stalks away.

James turns around and Regulus is casually leaning against the wall.

“You never let me have any fun.” Regulus pouts.

“Sorry, love. Kinda like having you around. I didn’t want you to get expelled… or arrested.” James tells him.

“I wouldn’t have gotten arrested.” Regulus rolls his eyes.

“Oh, no?”

“They would have never found the body, James.” Regulus says with complete sincerity.

“Of course.” James huffs a laugh. “Come here, my little homicidal maniac.” James puts his arm around Regulus and kisses the top of his head and they walk off in the opposite direction of the idiot who was stupid enough to pick a fight with Regulus Black.
