#I'll copy them ->#i'll end my rant here since it's already so long #but like. i'm more mad about how they're disregarding almost everything about sasuke retsuden over kakashi's eye bags #that just feels so disrespectful towards the artist. who actually does a good job #i feel like the amount of attention the other blogs are putting on to kakashi just says they're more concerned about how kakashi looks old #rather than about inconsistencies in the manga or anything else #which is understandable i guess. but i think it's a flawed way to critique media #also also. kakashi retsuden doesn't even say kakashi remains wrinkle-free or looks like he never aged a day in his life #so the fact that they're annoyed about eye bags just seems to say more about what their beauty standards are #rather than giving us a 'canon' kakashi look #i'm not sure if i got my argument across properly. but i haven't slept at all tonight and it's now 8 am #i'm just. irritated that everything about a story is being ignored just because of a minor detail #and being called 'tainted'#like. that's literally an interpretation of kakashi's appearance for this time #because the artists for both boruto anime and sasuke retsuden have to make up something #bc the original medium is actually written words--no visuals from kishimoto #if an american comic suddenly draws a character kind of different or in an ugly style. is it suddenly 'non-canon'???#or should/would you actually base that decision on whether you agree with the writing choices made?#i would like the assume it's the latter #it's just so Rude to ignore everything kimura shingo is doing bc of how he thinks a 50yo kakashi would look like #and he's not even that wrong??? 50yo people normally have eye bags or wrinkles #why are you immediately assuming there /must/ be different artists working on sasuke retsuden because of this??#is it that shocking and outrageous??#that he might've just maybe not put that much attention to kakashi in the side view panel (which i think might be traced?)#and then put in the eye bag detail bc now the reader's are getting a better look at kakashi?#i don't know how to explain why i'm so annoyed over this. the artist is literally doing a good job!!

I was absolutely clenching my teeth during Paths Unknow because I was so afraid that something could happen to Hunter or Wrecker in that abandoned facility with those hell plants.

But then my boyfriend just let out a random "Gonky isn't gonna survive" in the most chillest tone of voice.

I have many fears about that season, but this one wasn't part of my list before, thanks, love.

i used to be of the opinion that actors (particularly in scifi/fantasy media) tend to give better and more memorable performances when they understand the story and genre and feel somewhat passionately about it. and then i remembered Catherine Tate giving some of the best performances on Doctor Who, helping to make one of the most memorable characters, and she still doesn't really know what a Dalek is. and that really makes me rethink my former opinion.

I love the rhyming on ttpd. can only think of two examples currently but I know there’s more.

#the dancing phantoms on the terrace do they get second hand embarrassed #is e v e r y t h I n g #but also I can’t stop thinking about:#you. look. like. taylor swift. in this light—we’re lovin’ it #like just the flow. the cadence. not even just the rhyme but #her ease with language and playfulness with it and all the little pockets and corners of so many songs #even ones you think you don’t like. settle in with time!#like the thing about taylor is that she is VERY much a poet #in that some of her genius/way with words is innate #and the images and stuff she uses the turns of phrase can feel so garish and embarrassing on first listen #they JAR #but honestly I think it’s because she is truly …. new? she is doing something NEW #and the shock and outrage that always goes with new things is always present with a Taylor album #and I think she’s drawing on so much from the past to write but she is so deeply rooted in the present cultural moment #so it’s so easy to dismiss her writing on first glance as like. idk a college girl’s idea of poetry #as being too Stark or Melodramatic.#she loves OBVIOUS imagery and extremely dramatic ones too #but she isn’t actually just throwing stuff at the wall #because pretty much always. it starts to land and soften and settle #and the image she’s chosen has done its job of drawing you into a world #and/or communicating an emotion #and sometimes it’s so upsetting. like. get me out of the bedroom with Matty Healy taylor!!!!!!!!!! but. the art is art-ing!#I guess is what I’m saying. she’s good at this it isn’t just hype #but some of it really is that she’s taking us places we might not want to go or are so quick to pass judgment on #as being unworthy of a song or more importantly a poem. but present art HAS to do that #and does do it!!!!!! idk I am just. musing

I follow, on and off, a Japanese YouTube who vlogs about the meals and bentos she does. And for a long time she only recorded herself from the chin down so we could only see her hands.

Then she decided to start showing her face and now every time I see it in a video I'm like. "OH MY GOD?? AND YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL, TOO?!"

The thing that confuses me is that we know that Tumblr has protected racists and deleted Black bloggers who racists hated. We know that they've flagged trans accounts and allowed Nazis to roam free. We know that they've literally been supporting genocide. Why do people still act surprised when the entity of Tumblr, or hell, even the user is trash?

I have people here who I don't have in any other place, and a long catalog of curated content and kept memories. So, I stay here to keep that for as long as I can. But Tumblr is a site made up of and run by the people who also make our real lives a difficult environment to live in. And with every new terrible thing, there is a new wave of, "Tumblr is allowing this?"

YES. TUMBLR IS ALLOWING IT. It's okay to say, "Tumblr is not a safe space, just a space I'm used to navigating." Instead some of you will perpetuate that "Tumblr is good actually, just sometimes a bad person gets on there and is allowed to go wild. Lol." All the time. All the time bad people get on here and are allowed to go wild. It's not any better than any other site that has people on it.

Y'all have put so much useless pride in only being here and not on other sites where y'all think the stupid people are. But you're bad at even recognizing dangerous people, at best, and support dangerous people on purpose, at worst.

Tumblr is not a safe space and I'm just used to navigating it. There should be no affection left for the nature of the site. And yet, people will still say that they feel safest here. Fine. You're very privileged to be able to do that. Doesn't mean the site is safe. Just means that you are not a target of the rampart hate and hostility of Tumblr. Congratulations on your success at fitting in down at the Tumblr.

"Well why don't you go to...?" I do. I'm there too. I'm in a lot of places. And I say full chested Tumblr has not been "the best" of good or "the least" of bad. They just have had in the past an easy way of me keeping close people that I didn't have everywhere, and a way for me to tag my things I wanted to come back to and come back to them.

#uk politics #if you haven’t been following: a young man for some reason attacked a Taylor Swift-themed dance class for children #he went in with a big knife and ran around stabbing people #multiple people were badly wounded and worst of all three little girls died #there was understandable shock distress and outrage in the community #the far right started spreading rumours online that he was a Muslim and an asylum-seeker who arrived by boat #none of these things are true #his parents are from rwanda he was born in wales and he’s not a Muslim #the right-wingers started ‘protesting’ (rioting) in the streets and attacking mosques and police stations #they have used the murders of these poor little girls as a pretext to act like complete shitheads #and it’s all just really upsetting #riots
