guys I accidentally deleted the essay I wrote in my drafts bc I’m an idiot (I’m crying) so I’m just gonna summarize in less words bc whatever I’m not typing several more paragraphs on this. Anyway I just had to say that I feel like there’s an ableism problem in the Stranger Things fandom. Either that or this fandom just doesn’t like when characters show obvious neurodivergent traits. We see this with El being either infantilized or deemed annoying by fans when she’s clearly developmentally impaired and autistic because she struggles with understanding social cues and just wants to be normal and fit in like everyone else. She was raised in a lab, obviously she’s going to be immature and not have a strong handle on her emotional responses to things, and you don’t have to like her but it kinda sucks that she’s being hated for these things when I can relate to her so much. We also see this with Mike, and I feel like the people calling him the worst character are forgetting he’s literally just a teenage boy dealing with trauma. Like it’s as if they were never a teenager before because trust me I was just like Mike at that age if not worse. I’ll admit I used to hate him too but maturing is realizing the reasons people dislike Mike can easily be explained by either internalized homophobia or neurodivergence. He’s a bad friend? It’s because he’s trying so hard to appear straight and struggles to balance his relationships in a healthy manner, and he often speaks before thinking about how what he’s saying comes across to others, which is something many autistics/ people with ADHD do, not because we mean to hurt others but we can often be blunt or brutally honest and come across as rude (or even just lash out when we feel attacked or hurt as a way to defend ourselves but it often comes out harsher than we want it to) in my experience. He’s a bad boyfriend? He’s actually not and even then it’s because he’s gay and not in love with El but just doesn’t want to lose her. Besides he doesn’t have a great model for what a loving relationship looks like because of his parents so he may not be able to differentiate between romantic and platonic love and stays in a relationship that he’s clearly not happy in because of societal pressure to appear straight and it would be suspicious (in his mind) if they broke up because a) El literally is the coolest girl on the planet, how could he not love her and b) he loses his cover and people might start to notice and question his lack of attraction to girls. But not only that, he clearly struggles with describing and expressing his emotions or recognizing those of others (aka alexythemia) which is common in autistic people. So if he didn’t notice El’s obvious discomfort at the skating rink that’s probably why, and it’s also why he couldn’t tell her he loved her (bc it was a lie but I digress).
But perhaps the best example and the reason I decided to make this rant post is Robin’s character in s4. I remember seeing so many people saying that once the writers decided to make her lesbian they realized they didn’t know what to do with her character, some even going as far as to say they made her ditzy and stripped her of her coolness, which basically proves my point about y’all (as in the fandom in general) not liking ND people because god forbid we unmask around you, it’s no wonder so many of us feel afraid to be our true selves in front of other people. It’s almost as if she was hiding behind a persona to seem more normal and not draw unwanted attention to herself because she’s a lesbian, and once she came out to Steve and was accepted she… didn’t have to do that anymore? She felt more comfortable and safe around him to show her true personality? I don’t know but there’s something off about the way people are acting like she’s suddenly dumb or just there for comedic effect in s4 when she’s literally been so useful like she’s the one who realized music could save victims from being possessed by vecna. She’s literally the same except now she’s out to someone and she gets nervous when it comes to girls she likes, big fucking deal. Not only is this mischaracterization ludicrous and flat out wrong but it’s quite upsetting to see as someone who can relate to Robin in season 4 and is also autistic. Yes, not everyone with autism is like that but some are and to say she’s no longer cool because of it just enforces the perception of autistics as weird and unlikeable just for simply being themselves and makes us feel like we can only be liked or taken seriously if we keep the mask on.
look at me I said I would keep it brief this time but I still ended up writing an entire wall of text on this anyway lol thanks for coming to my Ted talk ig

How can I change how I feel towards aoiaoi? Let me explain, they are both of my favorite characters, but seeing them together in a relationship makes me wanna puke /srs I feel it . Their relationship is so complicated... I would like to like them bc obviously will gonna be endgame, and I feel triggered when I see anything related to their ship 😞I understand the points of their dynamic but I just can't. Like. It... I like them platonic but romantic uhhhmmmn... I'll pass. I wouldn't say it's bc their relationship is toxic bc let's be honest, almost every tbhk ship is, also, they are so well written so. idk if I hate it bc I prefer other akane and aoi ships (terukane and aoinene) but I really would like some advice bc this hurts me seriously T_T my autistic ass can't stand it. Sorry if this dumb theme. I love your fics btw
Hello! This isn’t dumb at all, don’t worry. I totally understand this, there are some ships that I get but for some reason they make me uncomfortable so I tend to stay away from them. I know I rant a lot about people mischaracterizing AoiAoi but I never intend for that to come off as “you have to like them.” The ship isn’t for everyone so don’t feel pressured to like them if they aren’t your thing!! If it makes you uncomfortable you’re better off focusing on the things you enjoy, there’s no harm in not liking a ship :)
But if you really do want to try and like them (with them being canon and all), I would recommend reading some analyses from fans who properly understand their characters. I’m pretty sure it’s widely agreed that @/mari.lair has the best AoiAoi + Terukaneaoi analysis in this fandom, so I would definitely recommend checking their account out. Even if you already understand them, reading about their good points might give you a more positive outlook on the ship. Fan fiction is another good way for a ship to grow on you, I honestly wouldn’t be as passionate about Aoi//nene as I am today without all the amazing fanfics I read of them. Unfortunately there aren’t many AoiAoi fics but I have seen some cute ones. And other content like fan art/edits/etc. might help change your perspective
I’d like to reiterate though, don’t feel pressured to like them if they aren’t your thing! People tend to get overprotective of the ship because it’s so hated but the fact is, no ship is going to appeal to 100% of people. AoiAoi might just not be for you, and that’s okay
I hope some of this advice helped, and I’m glad to hear you like my fics ty ty🥰

I love my friend group actually bc it’s always like “this person is definitely a vampire!”
“And this one is the spitting image of how I imagine my favourite podcast character!”
“This one is a feral animal (and I have a sneaking suspicion they’ll turn into a fox and root through my garbage if my turn my back on them for even a second). I am still working on house training them.”
“This one is absolutely some kind of eldritch Fae horror posing as human. Every time I see an apocalyptic mutated hell scape, I think of them.”
“This one likes making friendship bracelets with colourful beads but will absolutely stab a bitch with no hesitation. They found out I was enby years before I did and was subtly dropping hints to me in all that time. Somehow their whole body decided to pull some absolutely insane shit on them, and at this point even the doctors are impressed.”
“This one is a pixie and we all call them ‘Mother’. I’m pretty sure I’ve never met someone who made me feel like I still have time to make up for my childhood”
“This one is the living embodiment of everything anti-vaxers fear and turns everyone they meet Autistic. They’ve called me on my bullshit more than once,”
“This one is loving embodiment of what conservatives fear, and turns everyone trans, and is also dating the autism virus. Together they are terrifying. We actively warn new cis friends of their immense power. ”
“This person we picked up on a train to the middle of nowhere. They have a toadstool named Terry and treat every bug they meet like a new friend. I’m pretty sure they aren’t human either, or at the very least not entirely.”
“This person is my go to for chatting about and sharing fanfiction. We are both unapologetically seeing feeding each others fanfic addictions, and have no desire to get clean.”
“This person is 6ft and has the demeanour and fashion sense of a fluffy pastel unicorn. I met them at a youth group, I scare away the men at bars for them.”
“This person helped me figure out I was touched starved by giving me hugs and gave me all their favourite recipes they made us during final exams”
“This friend helped me understand what sharing in fandom with friends could be like, and we did our first cosplay together”
“This friend and I trauma bonded during high school and adopted a legion of younger teenagers”
“This friend pulled me out of quicksand that one time, and gets mad when I don’t update my fanfic”
“This friend is always there to chat when pulling all nighters”
“Me and this friend have a relationship exclusively built on bullying each other for the most mundane things”
“I feel like it is my god given duty to protect this person at all costs”
“This person is my go to if I ever have a group project bc we work so well together.”
“This friend said some of the wisest shit I’ve ever heard, and they have all the experience in things I was too scared to try”
“I have no idea who this person is but I must have met them at some point bc I invited them to the discord chat and they’re always there for us”
“This person is my go to if I need a scary as fuck monster design. They are definitely some flavour of undead.”
“This person is constantly bidng their time for the perfect moment to say the funniest fucking thing you’ve ever heard. No one ever sees it coming. It’s uncanny, and frankly impressive.”
“This person is secretly absolutely a kids tv show host. And not the human kind, they’re probably made of felt to be honest.”
And so on.
What a strange and wonderful group of people I’ve collected in my life. 🙃
#to any of my friends reading this#ha#have fun figuring out who is who#you haven’t even met all the ppl I’ve talked about yet#queer friendship

helaena's the sweetest person & it's the funniest fucking thing because during that entire feast she'll have no idea why the fuck aemond, aegon, jacaerys & lucerys are all beefing at the dinner table like "i literally thought we were fine???? aemond just called you handsome & strong what's wrong what's the matter????" it all goes right over her head just like. most social interactions do rip her. & it's not bc she's dumb or stupid or anything like that bc she's autistic, it's just that sometimes she needs things clearly explained to her. she can get overstimulated or understimulated, have meltdowns & shutdowns & stims in order to self regulate herself to the point where i think it'd be sweet if she gives either her handmaidens or her mother a gesture & they escort her out of the area so she can go someplace quieter if court gets too loud & otto has a maester make a type of special proto headphones of sorts for her as a gift bc he actually loves his granddaughter & can temporarily lose speech during meltdowns & shutdowns so in her nonverbal state she writes things on pieces of parchment & makes gestures; i genuinely think she would be almost completely nonverbal in the last few months of her life due to her trauma. she's very overly trusting & takes things at face value but she also has a strong sense of fairness, honor & justice & is very loyal, honest & has a very difficult time lying, i think she helps the common people out because she knows what it's like to feel dismissed & ignored & if you know any autistic person irl we're very hardcore on justice & fairness for everyone. in our world we don't really have anything that i can think of when it comes to princesses & queens that may have been neurodivergent or specifically autistic so i& explore what an autistic dragonrider queen might have been like in the medieval period. autistic girls, women & femmes NEVER see themselves be portrayed as regal or elegant let alone worthy of being a queen or a dragonrider.
also to be VERY clear: as an autistic bodied system ourselves&, helaena is not stupid nor is she a child, she's a grown woman who has an interest in creatures, flower language, life, death, divination & astrology, a mother, a queen, a prophetess & a dragonrider. the smallfolk, the common people literally rioted because of helaena's death. i& find a lot of the fandom's treatment of her (/nbh ofc y'all are chill) borders on infantilizing & i& nor any of us& fuck w/ that at all. ESPECIALLY bc it's autism awareness & acceptance month.

ok now I kinda wanna hear your hot takes about the patho fandom 👀
putting beneath a cut bc idk how long this is
my hot takes about patho fandom generally fall into one of two catergories: 1. stop taking literally all of your characterization and information from the hbomb video and 2. stop making artemy and daniil generic tall-short blonde-brunette seme-uke top-bottom cardboard cutouts in fic. and they kind of bleed into each other if i'm being honest.
i tend to see two kinds of characterizations of artemy and daniil that strip all nuance and three-dimensionality that made them interesting to me in the first place, and then i think fandom tends to respond to the fanonization/flanderization by doing the exact opposite. both in fic and in analysis. so i'll see a lot of posts and fic and whatnot that treat daniil like this incompetent idiot who cannot even administer flu shots properly and never has a nice thing to say or think to or about anyone, and this gets coupled with a huge amount of fic and posts where artemy is this sweet gentle herbivore (someone even said he would be a vegan which was just baffling) who is incapable of ever doing anything wrong to anyone in his life. less often i'll see woobified daniil with all his actions excused and explained away to make him into someone who is never intenionally a dick, paired with borderline abusive artemy who is a literal serial killer for fun. and also fuck anyone and everyone else in this game because no one seems to give a shit about any other character. (which isn't to say that no one's writing or interested in writing about it; it's rarer, but people in the fandom also just do not give a shit about interacting with anything else. rarepairs get little and gen fic gets nothing.)
i know everyone gets bent out of shape about 'gatekeeping' things like fandom but like i'll be honest, if you openly and proudly proclaim that you've never interacted with the narrative of pathologic on any level then i kinda don't give a shit what you have to say about it. in analysis or fic. and why should i? who would read a book review written by someone whose sole interaction with the material was a nostalgia critic review of the film adaptation? because that's kind of what it feels like.
also the way the fandom interacts with the stamatin twins is just really really odd to me. people will woobify and infantilize peter worse than i see them doing to anybody else (although murky is a runner up like ffs she is autistic not a toddler stop drawing and treating her like she's 4) and make andrey out to be a saturday morning cartoon villain. and as an andrey stamatin fan i'm kind of tired of the endless "anything and everything potentially negative about peter is andrey and andrey alone".

🍋+🌚!
🍋 favorite genre to read / watch / write
---
READ: character studies and other "oh hey this character is fucked up let's explore that and watch them heal" stuff...... and porn
WATCH: mystery or fantasy! Also children's stuff I guess, mostly bc I am adamant on hopeful work and happy endings~
WRITE: either silly stuff or gut wrenching tragedy, depend on the mood
----
🌚 a show you’d tell people to stay away from
BBC Sherlock. It failed on truly astounding levels at being a mystery show bc the lead solves everything off camera with shit like "the homeless network" and is so staggeringly queerbaity (characters in the show keep making 'jokes' about the relationship between John Watson and Sherlock), homophobic (MORIARTY) and ableist (the lead actor said some horrific things about how 'infantile' autistic people are and resented comparisons to his character) at once that it is truly impressive. A full breakdown of all the sins is this video but even HBomb missed the Ableist stuff though. I didn't! I remember! I was there and I am on that spectrum and it gutted me like a fish!!!
Steven Universe is great, fuck everyone who ever claimed it was promoting fascism (a real, honest to god take), but BBC Sherlock owes me monetary damages for the bullshit it did to the entire mystery genre, fandom in general (the Johnlock conspiracy.....), and the autistic community as a whole.
FUCK BBC SHERLOCK.
#swinging a baseball bat at a long gone fandom#no hate towards people who like it; you horrify me and I coax you lovingly towards the RDJ and Jude Law movies#ask meme

for the choose violence ask game:
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Already answered 12, so I'll just do 8. It's been a while since I watched/read these things, so my memory is a bit rusty :/
[The Owl House]
-That Evelyn & Caleb are all that interesting lol. They practically took over the fandom (/hyperbole) when those portraits of them were showed, but I've never once found them that fun to think about. I don't know what it is that's grabbing other people and not me, but I just have zero thoughts about these people.
At least Belos is a fun character, so some fanart exploring him and Caleb's relationship is enjoyable, but other than his relation to Belos, IDC about Caleb. I care about Evelyn even less, and never cared about her being a Clawthorne either.
We got like, 2 minutes max of screentime of these guys, and 90% of it is just photos of them. We didn't even get to know them as characters. There's barely anything to talk about with them
-I don't think everyone is wrong about this (so doesn't really belong on this question?), but that Amity &/or Hunter are autistic. I don't necessarily disagree with this opinion, I just never picked up on that myself. I've seen people call them "autism coded" and I'm like "...where?" If I went looking for posts abt it, I'm sure I could get on board w/ it though
-Any romantic ship with Willow bc that girl is aromantic (Dana told me herself /j)
[Nevermoor]
That Ezra Squall is in any way good or redeemable. This is a divisive opinion in the fandom itself, so not "everyone", but as it stands in the series, I am nottt on board with this yet. If that's the direction Jess wants to take the story, I trust her to do a good job with it, but from what we've been presented of Ezra so far, I don't think he is good nor will become good.
I found the split between "Ezra the boy" and "Ezra the monster" and if those lines blur pretty fun to read, and I'm curious to find out if he has any motivations for the massacre (or any of the other stuff he did) besides power hunger. If it turns out he's just been unfairly villianized, manipulated, or just misunderstood, it'd have to be really well written or I'd be disappointed lol. I simply find him more fun as a villian
[The Walking Dead]
Prolly weird to bring this up out of nowhere, since I don't think I've ever spoken about it on Tumblr, but I am indeed a TWD fan.
Shane is a bitch ass motherfucker and not remotely fun to watch. Every second he's on screen he's nothing but a pain in the ass. I love Rick, so whenever he and Rick are arguing (which is constantly), I just want him to SHUTTT UPPPPPP. He keeps wanting to control the group in ways I hated, and is a bit too content with killing people to meet the ends. (For example, when he shoots a guy he's out on a supply run with JUST so the zombies will stop and eat him and let Shane run away?? He could'a just shot them when he'd gotten back on the bus, but nah, he had to kill his companion and wasn't even honest about it to the rest of the group.)
Some people say Rick is like this too, but he doesn't truly get murderous until several seasons of being the leader of a survivor group in a zombie apocalypse. And whenever he gets content with killing people, it's not framed as a good thing, it's a consequence of the stress, hurt, and lack of trust that builds up in the apocalypse. Rick is at his best when he's extending a hand to other survivors. Shane didn't even make it past S2 before being okay with unnecessary killing.
(Do note that sometimes, Rick killing people is a good thing. For example, when a group of men attacked the fam and one man attempted to rape Rick's son, to which he proceeded to rip out one man's throat with his teeth. That was quite cool of him.)
People who like Shane tend to also be unfairly judgemental of Lori, in my experience. Either because she started a relationship with him while being married or because she later wanted to end that relationship.
She started a relationship with him because she believed her husband was dead. Shane was even the one who told her he was. In her eyes, she was single again. It's fine of her to have sex with any other man at this point, and to slowly start viewing him as family, even letting him get close to her son.
When her thought-to-be-dead husband waltzes up to the survivor group, very much alive, though, it's reasonable she would want to be in a relationship with her husband again. It is also reasonable that she doesn't want her apocalypse fling to be a father figure to her son when his actual father turned out to be alive. She isn't unreasonable for ending the relationship with Shane, nor for not wanting him to act as Carl's father anymore. Shane doesn't have any right to act as the father to her son.
There may be other reasons to criticise her (she died pretty early on and I haven't seen TWD in a while so IDK) but if anyone criticizes her for either of these reasons they r wrong <3
Conclusion: Shane was an infuriating character and I'm glad he died
#tw rape#<- brief mention in the TWD section#ask time#lilh text#once again i feel like these opinions are basic#i don't think i'm very good at being a hater

I wake up and realize belatedly that you asked for my list of trusted techno authors! Let’s go.
hoorayy (author of deviltown)— not a techno or emduo main, but consistently writes pitch-perfect techno in ensemble stuff.
third_crow: also writes ensemble stuff, did an excellent boreal-focused fantasy fic and is now writing a SBI foster au that’s actually nuanced and good? Who knew.
Odaigahara: I see you’ve already mentioned her. Everything she writes is so good. AHHHH.
EmJay_Panziku: the horror fic. The space fic. Somehow it’s not Tommy-centric for once. I am throwing my credit card at the screen. MORE PLZ.
AdrianaintheSnow: if you are okay with Tommy-centric SBI, this is actually good and fun character writing for everyone in that quartet, interesting worldbuilding, soft and cute moments.
Scrolling through my bookmarks like Odaigahara, Odaigahara, Odaigahara again…
Beans_McGee: I think they’ve gone over to hermitcraft now, but they have an unfinished series named Angel teeth that is just some of the best actually funny techno writing around.
Spice_ghouls: haven’t updated in a while so I don’t know if they left the fandom, but some very good emduo.
Inallthingsgoodorbad: okay so yes their most recent work is superhero AU, but it’s a really GOOD one, actually.
Dreamdx (thereisdefinitelyawordforthat): everything they write I must put immediately into my eyeballs. I am throwing my credit card at the screen again.
Fensandmarshes: !!!!! He is so good at every character but his technoooooooo (okay yes I am an awkward autistic but beyond that). Worldbuilding! Voice! Autistic characters!
H_mellohi: they’re more focused on angelduo, but when they write techno or emduo I just relax knowing they are in safe hands.
So for this one the author is anon, but if you search up I Asked For A Monster And You Gave Me A Fairytale, the author has two fics, (both Tommy centric but y’know, you gotta muscle past that I guess in this fandom), one where Tommy goes into the woods to die and gets adopted by a house of monsters, one where Tommy’s a vegan neceomancer used by a cult to bring The Blood God back. They are both very stressed.
Sigh so much of this fandom is Tommy-centric I’m still scrolling—
Okay we all know about findingkairos BUT ALSO FINDINGKAIROS.
OHHH THANK YOU.... i guess i should go grab links for these authors for myself and others hold on lemme--
i dont know hoorayy bc i havent read devil town or anything else by them, but ive heard good things about the fic!
third_crow.. OH TRUST ME. THE BOREAL TRIO FIC, YOU MEAN VISAGE? I KNOW ABOUT VISAGE. ITS MY ALL TIME FAVE DSMP FIC. IM OBSESSED W IT. CANNOT RECOMMEND VISAGE ENOUGH. PLEASE READ VISAGE
i didnt realize how much odaigahara i read until i made that list for that last ask but i really will have to read thru their works purposefully now that its come to my attention. good stuff, quality author
EmJay_Panziku i have read just the space fic (which i absolutely adore) but now that i have their account open i see they have another fic noted, in the tags, as being similar to Sweet Home.. I fucking LOVED that comic!! i followed it for years!! i will be back for this fic For Certain. (i assume this is "the horror fic" you mentuoned)
AdrianaintheSnow ill be honest i just. dont read tommy centric sbi i cant. not my thing. i get bored if techno isnt there and that happens much faster if its tommy instead. HOWEVER if youre ranking this author as being as good as all the other ones that i know in this list then i am sure theyre very good and to my followers who might find this of interest? heres a person to look at. esp if you said their worldbuilding is good, i love fun worldbuilding
Beans_McGee i have read these fics actually theyre fun. i def recommend ppl give the angel teeth series a shot, tho its been a while since i read them so i cant remember specifics anymore
Spice_ghouls ive seen these fics but i havent read them, ill have to check them out!!
Inallthingsgoodorbad i have NOT seen these fics but scrollling thru they look really interesting! i like superhero aus well enough so thats no deterrent, and the snippets of writing used in the summaries on here sound very neat indeed
Dreamdx OH YES. I KNOW THEM. LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR... SO SHIT HAS HIT THE FAN... SO MANY GOOD FICS IN HERE. really nice writing style and really honest and compassionate look at a lot of characters, esp the latter fic's handling of The Fireworks Duo Issues And Problems. its rlly interesting and thoughtful
Fensandmarshes this dude has 400 works. thats insane?? kudos to this author jesus. i dont know if i knew any of their work bc thats So Much to look thru but ill def check this dude out
H_mellohi i trust h with my life. h if you see this i trust you with my life. i love love Love red eggs and ham but i also have read and liked more of their fics but i really need to go back and check out Even More i think
findingkairos. findingkairos
heres a link to that anonymously published fic you mentioned. honestly seems incredibly entertaining as a premise. i dunno i'd personally want to read it but it sounds like an objectively good read
also i want to add to your list, if you dont mind... acuteroses, who ive liked quite a few fics from!
thank you so much or this list!! of the authors of yours i have read, you have fantastic taste

I haven't seen anyone in the fandom talking about it but I'm pretty amused that Agatha found a girl who is like Simon (a bit socially awkward, sturdy build, strong sense of duty, first instinct appears to be FIGHT ME) just like Simon ended up with someone kind of like Agatha. I know the prevailing conversation is compulsive heterosexuality, which yeah of course, but I think it's more entertaining that they weren't entirely wrong about what they liked.
Hey sorry if this comes off rude, but I wholly disagree with what you’re saying. If not just from a personal opinion, but a literary view.
Starting off, I literally wrote this meta on why Agatha is a Simon mirror. Which means that she is there to reveal things about Simon to the reader. So from this standpoint alone, her falling for another Simon mirror doesn’t make sense. The point is that she’d fall for a BAZ mirror and continue to reveal things about Simon and snowbaz through that relationship. That’s just baseline literary analysis.
Secondly, I’d like to debate your description of Niamh. “A bit socially awkward.” Perhaps, but A! Simon is described as being much more personable in everyday settings. Baz is a diplomat but Simon is a lad. And B! Agatha is way way more socially awkward and antisocial than Niamh. Who’s the one with absolutely no friends at Watford? Who hated parties at college? And who wanted to become a vet because she hated people.
“Is that why you became a veterinarian? Because you like animals better than people?” That’s why I want to become a veterinarian.”
“No,” she says.
[…]
“Fine.” She’s fed up. “Why did you want to become a veterinarian, Agatha?”
“Because I like animals more than people! Like a normal person!”
“I also like animals more than people!” she says. “That just wasn’t the deciding factor!”
-Chapter 62
Literally if anything this just proves they’re both assholes honest to god.
Ok next descriptor:
Sturdy build.
Ok she’s gotta sturdy build but let’s just take this apart.
In this book especially we learn that simon never got to a comfortable weight. He keeps calling himself fat but everyone else is just like “yeah you can’t see his ribs anymore.” Even AGATHA goes oh look he doesn’t look a starving child how nice. We’re not getting true sturdy build plow you over Simon until after the events of CO. Rainbow herself has said that CO Simon is a twig.
As for Niamh’s physique, a major part of Agatha being like Oh A Woman, was her remembering her from lacrosse. She was a great player. Very aggressive. One… could…. Say……… ruthless.
You know who else is “ruthless on the field”?
Lastly for this section, I DONT think that Niamh’s instinct is FIGHT ME with anyone except for Agatha. At worst she just comes across as tactless and mildly autistic-coded. It’s literally only Agatha that she goes WHATS UP YOU STUPID BITCH YOU SUCK!!!
And before I get into my last point, Agatha literally did Simon’s thing of not knowing she was attracted to Niamh until the moment they kissed in the woods during a life or death situation. It was a very obvious parallel to chapter 61. (But softer. Bc the point of this book is learning to be softer and vulnerable.)
Ok also one more thing: Agatha isn’t really like Baz except rich and dress fancy. But maybe that’s just me
Finally, and I hope I don’t come off too rudely, this ask just puts a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. It’s not fair to compare “what you liked” when you thought you were straight to what you want in a partner when you figure out you’re queer. Agatha’s whole story is not wanting to be defined by her relationship with Simon, and yet you’re doing that right now. One of Simon’s main trope flips is that he was never actually attracted to the fair maiden. He never had any feelings. If we put compulsive heterosexuality aside like you said, then they are basically siblings. Simon is pretty much Agatha’s foster brother.
I can tell you didn’t mean this in a bad way anon, and maybe you yourself are a lesbian, but from my own lesbian perspective, I know very very few lesbians that wouldn’t be at least uncomfortable with someone saying this about their possible past entanglements with men. I’m not trying to accuse you of anything or trying to be rude. I just feel uncomfortable at best with this take. Let’s not compare the butch lesbian to a man. That’s all I’m saying.
#sorry if this came off shitty I just don’t like.#like don’t quantify lesbians by their relationships with men I guess?#maybe someone else will be more willing to play in this space with you Anon#it just makes me uncomfy#awtwb spoilers

hlvrai: about tommy
going to be honest. how tommy is portrayed by the “fandom” or w/e kinda bugs me. like...i know. he’s sweet and talks a little silly and gets a spin-y cap near the end. i was there, i get it. and i love that about him! as a “childish” autistic man, i love that he’s himself, and those traits don’t bother me at all!
but like, in fandom? every other character is at least treated like an adult? they’re characterized to have like...a thought process. they’re shown thinking and reacting and SAYING things, while tommy throws out a cute, comedic one-liner, and another character speaks
other characters have fanon deep dives and angsty stories written about them, and tommy is mainly just...also there.
their creepy/cryptid natures are pointed out, and loved. everyone else is allowed to be violent, to have fanart and blurbs reflecting that, except tommy.
I UNDERSTAND that a lot of his character in canon is sweet. but that’s not all he is. he’s multidimensional. he’s as much of a person as any of the other characters. NOT ALL FANART depicts tommy as ONLY child-like and pure uwu “””boy,””” which is great...and i understand that a character’s tropes are often focused on, meme-ified, i get that!!!
but it feels like every single drawing of tommy is baby-fied. despite getting his spin-y cap later in the series, EVERY drawing has it. his “simple” remarks are often shrugged off by other characters, he’s always. smiling. and yellow.
i’m getting kinda emotional so this probably doesn’t make sense. but i can’t go in the tags anymore without feeling humiliated, like my whole self is being minimized and cute-sy-fied. i know i know i know a lot of it is in good faith, but it hurts and i can’t stop seeing it everywhere.
i also know some of the creators (of hlvrai), and a lot of the fans! are neurodivergent, but it still. i just wish more people portrayed him as a man. a 36 year old man, who has autism. and is a person. not just a “wholesome boy” bc it makes me feel infantilized when he’s ALWAYS, CONSTATNLY portrayed like that
hjksskhlaaaaaaaaaa idk anymore i just a a a aa fsdaiaaaah
#greenie made some goods#hlvrai#tommy coolatta#ableism tw#infantilization#actuallyautistic#i feel stupid saying any of this like im taking him/hlvrai too seriously#but it hurts and icant enjoy this anymore bc hes always always#hhhhhhhh#draw him crying and angry and sh-stimming and shutting down and#draw CANON SCENES where hes violent and competent and an adult hjes an adult#sorry im kinda not doing to greaat#aa. anyway..................

(dw about the ask, its all good mate)
you know the way that every fandom has that one headcanon about that one character that everyone accepts as canon even though the creators never said anything about it? because i havent really seen one for fantastic beasts.
therefore i believe as a community, we can all mutually agree that tina is a raging bisexual. in this essay i will
also hey! another autistic here 👉👈 ive kinda been stalking your blog for a while, and as an avid tina simp im so so happy someone else is giving her the love she deserves. im also curious if you have any hcs in general :0 personally im a firm believer in sapphic!tina and enby!newt (which i may or may not be writing an essay on why i believe in this lol) and also newt being on the spectrum. as for tina, honestly i didn't really think about it before, but to be honest i think she might be showing a few signs of asd or adhd 😳 anyways im rammmmbliiing so bye! have a good day my comrade <3
hey anon where’s the essay where is it i need it right now.
there’s a lot here so this is def gonna be in my drafts for a bit so i can get to everything here we go.
I THINK TUMBLR LET ME TYPE ON THE ASK YOU CAN IGNORE THAT LOL I CANT REMOVE IT
first and foremost thank you for resending your ask! i’m so used to having things in my drafts that hit delete i’m so used to edit😔
1. i’m so glad you agree that tina is bisexual!!!! once again i thought i was projecting but at the same time if i was i’d hc her as ace too which i don’t. like she just gives off that vibe. it’s the 1920’s she’s wearing pants. you know who would do that? people who are attracted to women and men.
2. i’m very glad to meet someone who loves tina too :D she deserves better and it’s super weird that she gets treated so badly. like right off the top of my head i can think about a certain post. tina haters are cringe and fail. i’m tired of people treating my wife like that🙄
3. as for headcanons i can’t really think of anything of right now mostly because i’m in class and there’s lots of talking. i know i made a hc list for tina awhile back i’ll have to find it bc some of those went hard af
4. YESYEYSYSYEYSYYSS TO ADHD TINA YESSSSSSSSS. i’m diagnosed w both autism/adhd which i did not know was possible. i thought they’d cancel out but nope :( and the idea of tina chilling and then all of a sudden being like ‘if i don’t go run 15 laps i will die someone help’ is so funny. i started hc her w adhd after cog i was like ‘? why is tina going everywhere does she ever sit still. ...wait. i also cannot sit still i am everywhere. she has adhd.’ also her stuggling to read newts letter is also a funny but relatable thought lawl
i’m sorry this ask has taken so long to be answer :’( i also try to take my time to answer so that way you get the best answer!!! also never feel sorry about rambling i ramble so much in here you could feel a novel. anon if you ever wanna talk feel free to keep sending asks or dm me! i love talking with ppl :D love you and i hope ur day is swag
#asks#first ask#meant to post this earlier but bad internet in class then no phone in class🙄#here you go anon :D

im super glad you love hetalia too. its been hard to find similar fans of it who arent like well you know. im honestly just super excited for it as well because it was one of my first anime and a contributing factor into why i im accepting of other people (i grew up in a more closed minded home despite being a minority myself) so always seeing it (kind of rightfully at moments w the fans) slandered and on whole dni lists always made me feel down. so im super super glad you like it too
Oh big mood. Seeing people diss it makes me feel sick to my stomach bc I feel like a lot of the time, they never even watched it, they just saw the fandom from the outside and automatically assumed that everyone in it were freaks because it was a cutesy anime that ridiculed lots of history from a pov that isn’t American-centric (which is what drew me to it, because let me tell you when you grew up hearing your dad berate you for not valuing your food or your home or the fact that he was still around bc the revolution destroyed his home, left him starved, and lead to his father drinking himself to death, you get really fuckin’ sick of how history in America is taught).
Like, I def. understand saying the fandom was a cesspit, because let’s be real, it was, but the manga and subbed anime wasn’t nearly as bad as a lot of people claim it is. And despite the fandom being pretty...Like That, it was also the first place where I met a lot of people who were either openly gay or accepting of people being gay, so it helped me come to terms with being queer and quirky, as well as being the first comedy that I saw that was either blatantly unfunny or made me feel sick. I also really liked how even if it has problems, the nations overall are representatives of their people instead of their governments. Because hello, I grew up in a purely Iranian community (my mom’s white, but she broke off with the rest of my family a while ago, so I don’t know them very well at all), and all I ever heard was how fucked up and evil Iran’s government is and how that must mean all Iranians are fucked up and evil too. And I feel like a lot of people who are against it are people who are big on that point of view as well, where the government is representative of the people and so on and so forth. Despite the source material, you know, refuting that a lot. It’s one of those pieces of media that looks annoying and weird and attracts the kinds of people who are annoying and weird (mostly autistic and adhd people, let’s be honest), so that means its automatically Bad and Problematic despite specifically trying to diss all the things they’re bitching about.
But I feel like I also had a good relationship with it because the few friends I had who were also into it were minorities, and the ones who were briefly into it but ended up being those obnoxious homophobic shipper girls were...still nd but probably also hidden republicans, so getting dropped by them, while confusing as hell and kind of hurtful, was probably a good thing. Anyways, point being is that a lot of the people who I see enjoying it are autistic/adhd and not american/white so I feel like that was a contributing factor of me feeling more comfortable with myself and like there was some sort of community of people out there who weren’t all these weird staring folk that were into things I didn’t understand
#i think the nauseous feeling is bc i have trauma with people mocking my interests tho#usually from a religious or moral perspective#also usually family members#so anytime something that is near and dear to me is called horrible#even if i know it has flaws#i feel really sick and upset and filthy#anon#reply#anyways its not perfect but its dear to me

JK ROWLING & SEPARATING THE ART FROM THE ARTIST
As everyone knows, the Harry Potter fandom is in chaos and ups and arms about JK Rowling’s transphobic tweets. Many people stopped buying Harry Potter merchandise, some threw away the books and some claim that Daniel Radcliffe wrote the Harry Potter series.
So, the question is: Do we stop supporting Harry Potter as well?
I absolutely love Blue Jasmine. Not because of Woody Allen’s direction and writing, but because of Cate Blanchett’s marvellous performance. I walked away from the movie impressed by Woody Allen’s craft but I bought it FOR Cate Blanchett (this was way before the allegations came out.) Many people yelled at me over social media, telling me that I am supporting a rapist. That I am ignoring their victims. But they don’t understand that just because I like people’s art doesn't mean I support their actions and I will never defend Woody Allen for what he did.
So, how does this apply to JK Rowling?
I am comparing JK Rowling and Woody Allen as they have done terrible things but created the art on display. And I am comparing Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine to the characters and world building of Harry Potter. I am not reading it for JK. I am staying for the beloved characters and the world.
Look, when I read the transphobic tweets, I was more puzzled than angry to be honest. Yes, trans women don't have periods and can't get pregnant. So???? Was she trying to outline the differences between cis and trans women? Was she reminding us of this? What was her point exactly???
If her point is that trans and cis women are different in a biological standpoint, she is right since face different health risks. However, Trans women should be treated exactly like a cis women. They should be respected and should be addressed by female pronouns (and trans males as well.) These people are incredibly brave to step up and live their life like they want to. JK Rowling has left so many beautiful themes in her books and one of them was courage. These trans people are taking a step forward and are trying to live their best life despite the judgement they receive. Yet JK humiliates and judges them???
As someone who wrote a fantastic series with depth and detail, she sure missed the bull’s eye with this one.
Not only that but she made a very personal attack by highlighting that autistic people are likely to go through this. I obviously love being a woman (except the periods) and I will remain one. However, I was diagnosed with autism at age 6. There is so much stigma around autism and we are portrayed as retarded, dependent and violent. This has severely affected my mental health and studied extremely hard in high school to prove them wrong. I went above and beyond to gain academic excellences and school awards. And in the years when I failed to get them, I would beat myself and believe that I am retarded due to my autism. So I am no longer standing with JK at all because of her ignorant comments.
Still, I will love Harry Potter for the rest of my life. I will not associate Harry Potter with JK Rowling at all (she has also dragged the series down with the stupid Cursed Child.) But I will always stand with Harry Potter as it is the biggest source of happiness and the reason why I am so optimistic and imaginative. And if I stopped liking Harry Potter, how would I ever believe in true love without Romione in my life?
If you like HP, but do not want to give money to JK, buy the books second hand. Or the merchandise from Ebay. Or paint your own Harry Potter jackets with acrylic paint and fabric medium (this is only to those who don't want to give money, you don't necessarily have to stop buying HP objects. Your decision!)
From now on, I will hail Daniel, Rupert and Emma as the collaborators on this fantastic series. Bc they are unproblematic legends.
And can we please appreciate how fucking amazing the Harry Potter cast has been lately? They are not afraid to stand to the creator of their world and do not hail her as a goddess!

4. What made you want to watch Promare? What drew you in?
i saw a teaser trailer for it early 2019 and thought “that looks fun” and forgot about it until like september when it was showing in theaters in the us and ppl started posting about it, the summary sounded neat and the trailers looked fun and i was autistic about it immediately. i really dont know what drew me in i just DESPERATELY wanted to see it (i drove like 2 1/2 hours to go see it the first time cuz all the showings in my area were over by the time i got to looking at tickets lol, it only played for a few days here. i was very depressed at the time and needed something to cheer me up and it definitely did its job at that) after id seen it it was just like the WHOLE thing about it that got me even more invested, i loved the animation and the music and the characters but esp galo and lio! idk it was one of those ‘love at first sight’ special interest things i guess
5. Did your opinion on a character change over time?
kray makes me more and more uncomfortable every time i see him i hate that dude. i hated him so much the 1st time i watched the movie but i hate him even more now and thats really saying something
but besides the villains (and remi) ive grown to just love the other chars all more over time lol. i loved galo and lio from the start and liked various other characters and my opinion hasnt changed much on them besides getting like More Love. theres prob a good opinion i have that im forgetting but idk
10. What character do you feel is under appreciated in the fandom?
pretty much all of them to be honest. i feel like even lio as the fan favorite character is underappreciated for like his actual character. lio and galo in particular are really interesting characters with a cool dynamic and id like if ppl talked abt their characters more in general in ways that werent like blatantly wrong lol. but besides a general ‘everyone and the protags’, probably aina.. i like her a lot but i can also understand why ppl think she doesnt have a lot going on when a lot of her character is unfortunately written to contrast a mans (galo) so anything we know about her we know from her contrasted or paraleld (thats not how you spell that word) to him :/ at least we can guess some interesting things abt her from that ig.
i also wish lucia and varys werent shunted to the side so remi could get in merch with galo and aina as burning rescue bc galo seemed like he was actually friends with or at least closer to lucia and varys is way cooler than remi. the only time galo even interacts with remi is for remi to be a dick to him why is remi in merch with him help
17. Favorite AUs you’ve seen/heard of or your own?
i honestly dont interact much w promare fandom as like A Fandom i just kinda hang out here so i dont know of a lot of aus, i guess id say thyma doesnt die aus and the promare stay lol. also roleswap aus with like burnish galo but where he doesnt completely 180 in personality. also any au i invent is genius of course but i cant think of any atm. god bless

Regarding Vulcans and autism
Since why the hell not make it a series with recognizable titles that will make it easy to look up and create links for if I ever make enough of them for it to be worth it. Disclaimer: it might be hard to understand what I’m getting at without reading the other posts since this isn’t supposed to be, like, a comprehensive analysis on how one is like the other.
Thing is, as an Aspie woman, I can see perfectly well how Vulcans expressing nothing but neutrality gets twisted in reception and interpreted as smugness/disdain, and autism (or at least Asperger’s, I am sorta more knowledgeable about one than the other) does tend to include self-awareness issues that leads to feelings of superiority and/or inferiority, and with the most recognizably “autistic” (either explicitly or through coding) being the Sheldon Coopers and the BBC Sherlock types, the assumption that anyone like them in some ways will follow in others (heck, might be why pop culture has accepted Holmes as an asshole at all, since he wasn’t that bad in the stories but he WAS smart and eccentric and every once in a while disdaindful of the people whose jobs he did better than them) is not unexpected.
The problem’s not really there because I actually have faith that we could have talked about it and raised awareness of not only this case, but also made people question why seeing a smart(er), seemingly cold but all-around just neutral characters or races made everyone raise their hackles to such a degree, assume that they’re actually mostaken about their skills (literally have seen people go “but what if Vulcans only think they’re some of the best scientists around bc they’re supercilious assholes and it’s just not true”)and wrong about life in general. Don’t get me wrong, I do get the impulse ever since Star Trek (2009), but, well, that’s just the thing, that’s where the problem is. Because we could have talked about it in fandom and be friends about it, but now there are TWO official canon sources that depict the Vulcans as intolerant, xenophobic, racist, ableist hypocrites, and not only is it harder to argue with actual canon telling you that you were right about your worst assumptions, but now you’ve seen them be actually WORSE than you first thougt, and to your faves, and in such a way that none of their positive/redeeming qualities (say, being all of that stuff sorta kinda messes up the whole IDIC thing, but it wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t doing it out out of malice, but out of ignorance and genuine misunderstanding, and if the only members who were shown to be sorta kinda decent weren’t at least partly from a different species (u.s., uh, I mean, us) and/or implied to have been influenced by a different culture) were shown. In fact, those good qualities, such as their pacifism, reverence for life, belief and respect for diversity, their curiosity and constant push for knowledge that probably wouldn’t let them just let a kid fall by the wayside becuase he was dyslexic (“there is no other wisdom, and no hope for us, but that we grow wise”), their deep attachment to their morality that’s even more important to them than to be liked by the other members of the Federation COUGH COUGH AUTISM MUCH COUGH COUGH were the first to be dropped in favour of what’s anathema to all of this, the last one in particular was turned on its head so it wasn’t that they used their logic to arrive to the most compassionate and fair choice, and it had to be logic since emotion would resist a sacrifice in a way logic won’t, making logic the compassionate choice (as they saw it, I don’t think it’s universally true, but also not universaly false), but that they were mich more willing to let people suffer and to look the other way and not be affected at all because, I don’t know, they mistook logic, which is a tool, with efficiency, which is a goal, I’d guess.
They lost the best things about them because freaking J J Abrams decided to make movies about a franchise he didn’t even like and then, even though all of it could have stayed in a parallel universe were, as many have proposed, Vulcans were worse because the Kelvin accident led people to know what Romulans looked like earlier so THEY were worse and everyone was just an asshole to each other, but then Discovery took a leaf out of his book and used his version of Vulcans and even changed old characters to fit this new version better (Sarek doesn’t disagree with Starfleet because of its bellicosity [you can’t even argue that he still disaproves of violence because he spent the worst part of the war following General Cornwell around and idk commiting mind crimes] or because he sees it as a rejection from Spock [since he says he’ll keep his distance because it’s what Spock would want and what the fuck even was that?] and he’s a cold bastard who’d take a child to a completely different culture than the one she’s used to purely for superficial beliefs and even then he’ll still prioritize his more Vulcan son, Amanda doesn’t think Vulcan’s is a hard but better way [and honestly she wouldn’t be justified to] so since she can’t be staying because of her children since they’re being mistreated, she must be doing it because of Sarek which is just so feminist, you guys, and ok, I better change topics before this becomes an “everything that’s wrong about Disco with a sidenote of everything that’s not objectively wrong but I still didn’t like”, but also, Vulcan brains can literally lobotomize themselves while dealing with trauma, don’t you think they’d take mental health seriously?) so now it’s canon in the original universe, too. Even with Enterprise (which, to be honest, I haven’t watched, I’ve only learned what was going on with Vulcans from Memory Alpha and the recounting might hace left events and/or the essence and implications of the plotline out), the tomfoolery was supposed to be Romulans infiltrating the government and twisting Surak’s teachings, all of this is supposed to be how things vecame after they got his katra back and went through the Reform.
And this got long, but the thing is: it’s not just about the Vulcans. It’s about the fact that some of the worst assumptions made about them were recognizable at least by this one Aspie as, among other things, a neurotypical’s response to an autistic trait and a long history of negative autistic coding, and now they’ve been confirmed by canon, so instead of having a nice discussion and maybe a bit of disk horse about this, we’ve gotta deal with the fact that now some people feel legitimally repelled by and resentful of Vulcans (insofar as any emotion applies to fiction) because they are now the bigots and oppressors - now it’s not a one episode race of black&white and white&black people ridiculously pointing at the obvious differences between each other, but Vulcans who have said and done bigoted things many people have been exposed to during their lives, and if they were ever willing to give them, and by extension us, a chance, now it’s ruined. I am not, of course, saying that if you hate Vulcans, especially now, you’re ableist, or that making them the Asshole^tm will turn people ableist. Just that it would have been nice to see people like me who didn’t end up justifiably despised.*
*Especially through character assassination, couldn’t you have at least made them unlikeable from the start?
#Star Trek#Vulcans#Spock#am I metaing yet?#I don’t know#it’s been bothering me#because I really love Vulcans and all of this seems like a permanent giant stain
