Golden Hour
Jing Yuan | M. Reader
----------
Reincarnation AU
----------
There's a particular painting inside the Luofu Museum. It's a painting of the former General, they say that the General never smiles and always has a blank expression. That painting is the most precious and one of a kind in the whole world...
Why?
Because it's the only time...
Where the General finally smiles...
----------
"Huh... "Wise and Brave; Jing Yuan." Hey, wouldn't it be funny if he's actually you from the past?"
"Nonsense, we just have the same name."
[Name] turn his head towards the white haired man with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah.. Sure.. But you do have the same smile as him." He said as he look back at the painting in front of them.
The General in the painting looks almost identical to the man standing beside him down to the same smile. Then again, [Name] couldn't imagine Jing Yuan being all stoic like, a smile fits him better. "You know... They say that the General had fallen in love with the Strategist in the Xianzhou, some even say that the Strategist was the reason why he started smiling."
"Really?"
"It's just a myth though, don't know if it's true."
Jing Yuan chuckles at that statement, after all myths are just myths, there's no telling if it's real or not. It's probably fake, people usually make up things just to satisfy their own fantasies, but something in him tells him otherwise.
That maybe, just maybe... It's the truth.
.
.
.
.
.
"ARE YOU INSANE?!"
"It's the most optimal solution, General."
"BY SACRIFICING MY MEN!?"
"Losing a handful of soldiers are better than losing civilians, plus—isn't it their duty to give their live for the people and die in battle?"
"HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT WITH SUCH A CALM VOICE?!" The General huffs as he glared daggers at the man in front of him, the man who proposed the very strategy that practically sacrifices his men "for the greater good." Jing Yuan always wonder how this man is able to be the Strategist of the Xianzhou...
A man who stood to benefit from betraying others... It's not proven or anything and yet...
Jing Yuan is certain that he'd turn against the Reignbow Arbiter in a heartbeat...
There's isn't a sane bone in his body.
The other man sigh at Jing Yuan's response as he crosses his arms and spoke up with his usual calm yet firm voice. "And here I thought you'd be more reasonable, given that you're the General."
"The leader of an organization is at the pinnacle of it and, at the same time, he is its slave. The leader must be more than willing to commit any atrocity in order to ensure the organisation's survival."
He hates it.... He hates this man so much...
How could he talk about that so casually? As if these men... Were just mere pawns to him... After all sacrificing a few pawns means relatively little if it means your King's safety.
'He's not thinking about the people.. He's thinking about the Xianzhou Loufu's survival instead...'
"They were right about you... You're a wolf in sheep's clothing..." He started as he continues to glare daggers at the man. The man only gave him an unamused look as he asked in a calm voice. "And why would you think that?" Jing Yuan scoffed at the question as he crosses his arms. "Talking to you is impossible."
"But in all honesty, give my strategy some thought, General."
"There's nothing left to think regarding that. I want you to change it this instant."
The man sigh at the order he was given, he uncrossed his arms and took back the papers from the General's desk. "As you wish."
And with that... The man left his office.
Jing Yuan sigh as he put a hand on his forehead and look down at his wooden desk. "I can't believe that man... [Name] was it..?" He mumbled under his breath.
'It's as if a life meant relatively little to him.'
.
.
.
.
.
"I never knew you could be a skilled doctor.."
"I was the Head Physician before becoming your strategist, General."
"..."
The two fall silent as [Name] bandaged the general's wounds. It seems even the "Mighty General of the Loufu" can get hurt. How fascinating. Once he's done, [Name] lets out a sigh and puts back the supplies he had used. "I suggest you shouldn't go to any missions at the moment. Let your wounds heal."
Jing Yuan remains silent as he inspects his carefully treated wounds. The bandages aren't too tight, and his body isn't as sore anymore. [Name] might be a sociopath with the types of strategies he comes up with. But he's a wonderful physician. Maybe he should stay as one.
"Can't have you start bleeding out in the middle of a fight after all. Unless you wanted me to operate on you then go ahead."
Jing Yuan can't help but sigh at those words. Of course the doctor has to open his mouth and end it on that note... even if he's good, [Name]'s still a sociopath though..
"...Understood."
"Good."
.
.
.
.
.
The crowd was silent as they watched the starskiff flies to through the sky. Reaching greater heights. "Another sent of.." The doctor mumbled under his breath.
"Sad, isn't it?"
"Not really."
Oh you sociopath! Jing Yuan snapped his head towards him. He was about to argue until he saw a soft smile on the doctor's face. A soft. Melancholy. Smile.
"It's not sad. It's poetic." [Name] says softly as he watches the starskiff. "In a way, if you're at a loss, you could look up at the sky and.... remember that they're watching over you.. and there's nothing to be afraid of.." Turning his head towards the general, [Name] gave him a closed eye smile as his hair got caught in the wind. "It's almost romantic, is it not?"
Jing Yuan felt a strange and warm feeling on his chest. Without thinking, he returns the smile with his own. "If you put it that way.. it is kinda poetic.."
----------
"Well... I heard that the Strategist is far more worse than the General." Jing Yuan spoke up, making [Name] turn his head to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "Really?" He asked as he crosses his arms, waiting for am explanation. "Yup, they say that the Strategist is a sociopath. I've also heard that the General was the reason the Strategist began to have a "heart". " Jing Yuan concluded with a smirk on his face.
[Name] can't help but chuckle at those words. For some reason.. he had a feeling it was true..

Hii!! I have a Larissa x reader request. Larissa is in her late forties, has a shit ton of money (cause that woman screams money) and she's also a tad lonely, so she decides to find herself a sugar baby and that's where reader comes in, they are broke, almost finishing college and in need of quick money. I really just need this woman to pamper me with money and love and good sex, lots of mommy kink and out of the bedroom dominance pretty pleeeeeaaassseeee
Secret Benefits (NSFW)
Part 1. (Next part)
Larissa Weems x fem!reader
A/N: Anon, I loved this request so much I’ve decided to turn it into a multiple chapter fic. We’re mostly setting the scene in this chapter, but I added a tiny bit of smut. Thanks for the request, enjoy!! <3
You didn’t feel very proud as you clicked on the “sign up” button on the app your best friend told you about. You typed in your information - Name, age, height, weight, eye and hair colour. It did feel like you were only a product to be bought but it was what you were looking for, after all.
You filled in the “looking for” section - women, preferably. You didn’t care much about height or weight or anything like that, really, although you hoped you would be able to at least find someone attractive. But you couldn’t afford to be too picky.
It did feel like signing up for a normal dating app until you reached the “monthly income” criteria. This was by far the most important criterion, the one that had led you to this website, and yet you didn’t know what to answer. You stared at your phone screen for a moment before eventually typing in “Minimum $3500”. It felt like a correct amount, enough for someone to take care of themselves and you as well.
You uploaded a few pictures, a couple of selfies and one where your whole body was visible. You probably would have more chance of quickly finding someone if you uploaded a more revealing picture, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to do it. Not yet.
You took a deep breath and clicked on the button that would make your profile public, watching the message that popped up on your screen - Welcome to Secret Benefits, the number one sugar dating app in America.
Your profile had only been public for a few minutes when you received your first like and inbox message. A man saying he would pay you a thousand dollars a week and didn’t want anything in exchange, only to chat with you. Your friend had warned you about this kind of scam so you simply rolled your eyes and reported the profile.
Browsing through the app you quickly realised that most people on there were men over forty searching for a pretty thing to parade around with. You knew it was the whole point of this app and those kind of relationships, but still.
It felt like you had been scrolling for hours when a profile finally caught your eye. Larissa, 48. Her picture was what first caught your attention. The woman was half-turned from the camera, holding a glass of red wine in her hand. Her white hair was tied in an intricate updo, her lips painted with a crimson red that matched her nails and her blue eyes fixed on the camera as if she had caught the photographer in the act of taking her picture. It almost felt like she was looking right at you. She looked beautiful.
You clicked on her profile, hoping to learn more about the woman. You read her body description, eyes widening when you reached the height criteria and read that she was 6’3. She looked like the type of woman who enjoyed wearing heels and you felt dizzy at the thought of a two metres tall woman towering over you.
You noticed that she had picked “Unspecified” for the monthly income. You weren’t sure what that meant exactly. Was she wary about sharing her income? Strange, given the kind of app you were on. Or perhaps she was old money. She did look wealthy, the kind of woman who would have grown up in a rich family and inherited it all.
She had listed a few of her interests in her bio. Art, luxury fashion and haute couture, feminism. There was a single sentence written underneath, one that had your breath hitch in your throat.
“I call myself a hedonist, I seek utmost pleasure in everything I do.”
And that was enough to have you hooked. You didn’t care about the other thousands of profiles on the website anymore. You only cared about her. Larissa, her sapphire eyes and crimson lips, her hedonistic lifestyle and promise of utmost pleasure, and most importantly - her money.
You clicked on the little heart next to her profile picture, like your friend had told you to do. Now you were supposed to wait and see if the woman would like your profile in return. You could have sent a private message straight away, but your friend said it was better not to, it would make you look too desperate. I am desperate, you thought.
It was only hours later, when you were freshly out of the shower and about to get into bed, that your phone pinged and you quickly grabbed it to check the notification.
Larissa liked you back! The start of a beautiful story?
You stared at the notification for a minute, what were you supposed to do now that she had actually liked you back? You weren’t even expecting to get that far when you signed up.
You sat down in bed still wrapped in your towel and took a deep breath. How were you even supposed to engage in a conversation with a woman like her?
Your fingers hovered over the keyboard for a while. Everything you could think of sounded lame and you even considered calling your friend for some advice but it would have just been embarrassing.
You: Hi there! I came across your profile and was very intrigued by your sophistication and the way you described yourself. How has your day been?
That wasn’t too bad. At least you hadn’t sent a cheesy pickup line.
The little “seen” quickly appeared under your message and you bit your lip in anticipation.
Larissa: Good evening! Thank you for reaching out. My day's been quite busy with work, but I'm always up for interesting conversations. How was yours?
Okay, she had answered. She had liked you back and she had answered. Great, it was great.
You: I'm glad you're taking the time to chat. My day's been mostly filled with classes and hanging out with my friends, a normal day in the life of a college student haha. What do you do for work?
Larissa: I’d rather keep my work private, at least for now. But I promise I’m not doing anything illegal! College student, what do you study?
Well, that was a bit strange, although you could see why someone wouldn’t want to share their work field on this kind of app, there was no doubt those arrangements could ruin some people’s lives.
You: Sure, no worries! I study marketing. It’s not always easy but I enjoy it for the most part. I’m really curious about what brings you to this app?
The message was read almost instantly but it took the woman a few minutes to answer. Was she hesitant? Searching for the right words?
Larissa: I appreciate your curiosity. I'm mostly looking for a mutually beneficial arrangement where we can both enjoy each other's company and experiences. What about you? What are you looking for on here?
A mutually beneficial arrangement, that was certainly one eloquent way to put it.
Larissa: I'm seeking someone who can support me as I navigate my studies. I live on my own and have a job on the side but it’s getting really hard to finance everything alone. Plus, I think having someone older in my life, someone with more experience, could only be beneficial. It’s all about benefits and enjoying the finer things, isn’t it?
Larissa: It is! I suppose it’s the main reason why so many young women are on this app. Tell me, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
You: Well, I honestly don’t really get much free time. But I like to sit down with a nice book whenever I can. I enjoy going for walks and I could spend hours in the kitchen cooking and baking. What about you? Any favourite ways to unwind?
Larissa: I don’t get much free time either if I’m being honest. I’m a busy woman. I do enjoy sitting by the fireplace with a book and a glass of red, one of life’s simple pleasures. I love exploring art galleries, trying out new restaurants and I sometimes, although very rarely, indulge in spa retreats.
Spa retreats? These things cost a fortune! You were lucky if you could indulge yourself in a night out with your friends!
The two of you kept exchanging for a while. You learnt that Larissa was British, that she had moved over here for her studies. She loved travelling, had been to many places around Europe and was a big fan of French cuisine. She felt like the kind of woman you could listen to for hours without ever getting bored.
It was getting late, your eyes were practically closing themselves and you knew you would be absolutely exhausted in the morning, but you didn’t want the conversation to end.
You had been talking for nearly two hours when the woman asked if you had ever dined at Ambrosia, a restaurant way out of the centre of Jericho. You snorted loudly as you searched the restaurant on Google and realised it was a gastronomic one. Did she really think you could afford that kind of place?
You: No, I’ve never been there. But I’ve just googled it and it looks like a nice place!
Larissa: It’s my favourite restaurant in Jericho, I think I must have tried everything on the menu by now. Would you like to join me there for dinner, let’s say on Saturday night?
Saturday night? You quickly checked your schedule, you were working at the bar that day.
You: I would love to, I really would love to, but I’m working that day and I can’t miss a shift…
Larissa: If it’s about the money, you don’t need to worry. Call your work tomorrow, let them know they will need to find someone to fill in for you on Saturday.
You swallowed thickly. What if this was some joke? What if you showed up at the restaurant and she wasn’t there? You would miss your shift, and lose money for nothing. But if she did show up…
You: Fine, I’ll call in the morning. What time should we meet at the restaurant?
Larissa: 6.30 pm? If you give me your address I will have a car sent for you. However, I understand if you feel wary about giving that kind of information to a stranger.
You did feel more than wary about giving her your address. For all you knew it could be some creep hiding behind that profile. But if you didn’t take the leap, you might miss a great opportunity. So you did it, you sent Larissa your address and thanked her for wanting to send a car.
Larissa: Thank you, darling. The car will pick you up at 6. I should probably let you get to bed now, I wouldn’t want you to fall asleep during one of your classes. Thank you again for reaching out, it’s refreshing to connect with you.
You: Thank you, Larissa. Likewise, I enjoyed our conversation. See you on Saturday!
You closed the app and took a deep breath. You were insane, absolutely deranged. Who in their right mind would agree to something like this so quickly? You groaned and pulled the duvet over your head. You’d think about this later, all you wanted at that moment was to sleep.
-
Saturday couldn’t come quickly enough. Your friend had asked you if you’d had any luck on the app yet and you lied, telling her that no one seemed interested in you yet. Maybe you would tell her about your meeting with Rissa once it’d be done. Maybe.
You had exchanged a few more messages with Larissa the next day, just to keep in touch and let her know that you were looking forward to meeting her, and so was she.
The doorbell of your flat ringing woke you up early on Saturday morning. You quickly threw on some pyjamas and went to open, your eyebrows shooting up when the courier handed you a big cardboard box.
“What the hell?” You whispered to yourself as you placed the box down on your coffee table.
You grabbed a knife from the kitchen drawer and carefully cut the tape, holding your breath as you opened the box. There was a small note on top of something wrapped in gold tissue paper.
I picked you an outfit for tonight, I had to guess your size using your pictures but I’m pretty certain it will fit. I suggest wearing a pair of black heels with it. See you tonight, darling.
-Larissa
You had to read the notes a few times to make sure you weren’t just making things up. She had picked you an outfit, really? Did she think you couldn’t dress up on your own? Well, to be fair you weren’t sure you had anything chic enough in your wardrobe, but still.
You carefully opened the tissue paper and your breath hitched as you unfolded the black slip dress that she had picked for you. The silk fabric felt incredibly soft under your fingertips and the lace trim on the neckline was beautiful.
“Simone Rocha.” You read the tag out loud. The name did ring a bell somewhere in your mind, was that a designer dress? Well, at least now you knew the woman was serious about taking you out for dinner tonight.
You were about to close the box when you noticed there was something else in there. You picked it up, eyes growing wide at the sight of a burgundy thong. It was beautiful. Made out of lace and embroidered with floral details, it probably cost more than your whole underwear drawer.
You bit your lip looking at the two items of clothing in your hands. Maybe you could get used to this lifestyle.
-
The car sent by Larissa arrived at your place at 6 pm sharp. You quickly put on your heels, fixed your lipstick, and took a last look at yourself in the mirror. The dress fitted you like a glove and you had rarely felt that beautiful in a piece of clothing, you looked expensive.
Hundreds of thoughts were rushing through your brain as you sat in the back of the car and absentmindedly looked outside the window.
And suddenly it hit you - would Larissa be expecting sex from you? Your eyes widened at the possibility. You had not talked about this. Sure, the woman had said she wanted someone to spend time with, but spending time with someone could mean a lot of things!
You were almost thinking about changing your mind and going home when the car pulled over and the driver let you know that you’d reached your destination. You took a look at the building outside and swallowed thickly. There was no going back now.
You thanked the driver and stepped outside, taking a deep breath of fresh air. You were halfway to the restaurant door when you heard your name being called, causing you to spin on your heels.
“Larissa?” You asked as your eyes landed on the woman walking towards you. She looked just like her picture - tall, elegant, beautiful.
“Yes!” She smiled and nodded.
Noticing that she looked you up and down, you allowed yourself to do the same. She was wearing an emerald fitted dress that perfectly hugged her waist and hips. Her legs had to be the longest you’d ever seen, they seemed to go on and on until you finally reached the silver heels that were on her feet.
“It’s nice to meet you.” You smiled back, feeling a bit awkward and not knowing what to say.
“Likewise.” Larissa answered and pulled the door open to let you in, her hand falling on the small of your back as she followed you inside.
Everything inside the restaurant reeked of wealth. The high ceiling, the polished wood floor and the leather seats. You were out of place and you felt like everyone around you knew it.
“Miss Weems, good evening!” A waiter flashed the woman a bright smile. “Your usual table?”
“Good evening, Adam. Yes please, the usual.” Larissa nodded and her hand on the small of your back gently pushed you, signalling for you to follow the waiter.
You sat down at the table and could immediately tell why it was Larissa’s favourite table. It was at the back of the restaurant, in a quieter space, and it had a perfect view of all the other tables.
The waiter brought the menu almost immediately and made a few suggestions as he poured two glasses of water. You could feel the older woman staring at you as you opened the menu and flipped through the pages. Everything was expensive, a whole three-course meal in this place would cost as much as your biweekly grocery budget. It was insane.
“Anything tempting you?” Larissa smirked, a strange glint in her eye.
“Um…Yes, yes there is a few things that sound really good.” You nodded and pushed an awkward smile.
“The dress suits you perfectly. You picked the perfect shoes to go with it.”
A blush crept up your cheeks hearing the compliments and you pushed out a shy “thank you”.
“Are you wearing everything that I picked?” Larissa asked, her head slightly tilting to the side.
Her eyes briefly dropped to your chest - no bra, that was the right choice for this kind of dress. Larissa was pleasantly surprised. She had purposefully chosen not to include a bra in the package but she wasn’t sure if you’d wear one of your own.
“Yes,” Your cheeks turned a deep red, not far from the colour of the thong you were wearing. “I’m wearing everything you picked. Thank you, by the way, I loved your selection.”
Larissa’s nostrils flared and she let out a satisfied hum, looking up when Adam reappeared by your table.
Larissa went first, there were far too many French words in her order for you to understand properly, but you enjoyed hearing her accent. It was like honey dripping from her lips. When you snapped out of your thoughts, the waiter was looking down at you expectantly. You opened your mouth to place your order only to be cut off by the tall woman’s voice.
“She will have the seared foie gras as an entrée, followed by the filet mignon - medium rare - with grilled asparagus, and the passion fruit mousse for dessert.” Larissa said, her sapphire eyes looking at you above the menu.
Your mouth dropped open. First, she had picked your whole outfit down to your panties, and now this. I want control, she had told you in one of her messages. You hadn’t really understood what it meant at that time, but you did now. You would never admit how turned on you were as you closed your menu and handed it back to the waiter who gave a polite nod and walked away from your table.
“You’re staring, darling.” Larissa pointed out, making you close your mouth and look away for a second.
“Sorry, I-“
“You weren’t expecting that?”
“Yeah…”
Larissa let out a soft chuckle and reached out, crimson nails taking hold of your chin to make you look at her.
“When we meet, if we meet again, I would like to be in charge of those things.” She simply said.
“In control, you mean?”
The woman’s nostrils flared again and she gave a small nod.
“Yes, in control. I do enjoy knowing you’re wearing something that I picked for you, that you will be tasting what I want you to taste.”
There was something almost erotic in the way she said it, something that sent a shiver down your spine and had your eyes dropping to the woman’s lips, watching them curve in a smirk.
“I wanted to ask-“ You mustered the courage to say. “If you would be expecting…more than just my company.”
“Sex?” The word sinfully rolled from her tongue.
“Yes.” You let out in a whisper.
“Would you like to have sex with me?”
Maybe.
“No.” It instinctively slipped from your mouth. “This is not the kind of arrangement I’m looking for.”
“Well, then I’m not expecting sex from you, no.” Larissa simply answered. She seemed sincere, like she really had not been expecting anything more than your company.
What if you had said yes, though? Would she have sex with you if you ever changed your mind? You swallowed thickly at the thought and picked up your glass, taking a couple of sips of water.
Larissa asked about your day and if you could explain what your studies consisted of, which you happily did. You told her about economics, and how you had learnt about analysing consumers and competitors. You were sure that it was boring, having to listen to these things when you weren’t involved in marketing, and yet Larissa’s eyes never left you. She gave a nod here and there, and asked more questions when something wasn’t fully clear to her. She seemed genuinely interested in you, and it felt nice.
“Thank you, Adam.” Larissa smiled when the entrées were placed on the table.
You looked down at your plate, it was beautifully presented and smelled incredible. What was it again?
“Seared foie gras,” Larissa said as if she could read your mind. “Enjoy, darling.”
“Thank you, enjoy!” You answered and picked up your fork to try the foie gras. You remembered having tasted it once, years ago at a wedding. But it didn’t taste this good in your memory.
Larissa watched your every move. She watched you push the fork inside your mouth, how you closed your eyes when the food filled your tastebuds. The foie gras was exquisite, the woman knew it, and she relished in the pleased hum that escaped you.
“What do you think?” She said, eager to hear your thoughts.
“It’s delicious, thank you for picking it.” You answered honestly, causing Larissa to let out a shuddering breath. Was she getting off on this?
The rest of the meal went smoothly. Larissa seemed determined to keep most of her life private, only answering a couple of your questions, often with well-thought answers that wouldn’t give out too much. It seemed like she enjoyed hearing you talk about yourself, though, for she asked you question after question throughout the evening.
“Thank you for tonight, Larissa.” You said when the two of you walked out of the restaurant. She had paid for the whole bill and, even though you had expected it, it still brought a blush to your cheeks.
She wrapped her arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer against her, walking with you towards her car. She had convinced you to let her drive you back to your flat, although it hadn’t taken much for you to agree to it.
You sat down in the passenger seat of her Chevrolet and stayed quiet as Larissa turned on the engine and drove away from the restaurant. A silence fell between you, it was a bit uncomfortable until the older woman turned the radio on and a familiar new wave song filled the car.
Larissa softly hummed along to the tune and her hand moved to rest on your leg, just above your knee, her thumb soothingly rubbing your skin. You didn’t think you would love it as much as you did, but her hand was warm against your flesh and it simply felt right.
“I think we’ve arrived.” Larissa said as she pulled over in front of your flat.
“Mm? Oh, yeah, yes!” You nodded taking a look outside. You had been lost in your thoughts for the entirety of the ride.
Larissa leaned over and pulled something from the glove compartment before handing it to you. It was a small golden envelope with your initials handwritten on it.
“For your missed shift.” She smiled and placed the envelope in your hand.
“Thank you.”
“Mhm. Now go, get some rest.” She purred. “I will text you later.”
“Goodnight, Larissa.” You bit your lip, hesitating for a second before eventually placing a kiss on the woman’s cheek.
“Goodnight, darling.” She squeezed your thigh and watched you step out of her car, waiting until you were inside the building before she drove away.
You closed the door behind yourself and let out a breath you didn’t know you had been holding. It had gone…surprisingly well. Larissa was truly charming, she was intelligent, eloquent, and wealthy. And she was breathtakingly beautiful.
You stepped out of your heels and walked through your flat, dropping the envelope on the kitchen counter before you made your way to the bathroom for a well-deserved shower.
Thoughts of the older women flooded your mind as soon as you stepped under the hot water jet. Was she home already? What was she doing? Had she enjoyed her evening? You were pretty sure that she had. More than once you had caught her pupils dilating as you thanked her for what she had picked for you, whether it was the food or the clothing. Was she thinking about you right now like you were thinking about her?
Would you like to have sex with me? - her voice echoed through your mind and you whined, dropping your hand between your legs. There was a sense of urgency in the way you fucked yourself as you thought of Larissa being in control of you, your food, your outfit - God, you’d probably let her take control of your whole being if she asked for it.
“Fuck- Larissa!” Her name rolled from your tongue as you reached your climax, leaving you panting heavily against the shower wall. It was depraved, you thought, fucking yourself thinking of a woman you had just met.
The same thought crossed Larissa’s mind as she slowly pulled her fingers out of herself, pushing them between her lips to lick them clean. It was depraved, but you had looked so good in the dress she’d picked for you and you had been so thankful all night long.
The tall woman opened a kitchen drawer, pulled a cigarette out of it, and lit it while she poured herself a glass of red with her other hand. It usually was either one or the other, but tonight she really needed both. Larissa was hooked, she couldn’t help herself, she loved taking care of a pretty thing.
You grabbed the envelope from the counter on your way to bed, opening it once you had settled down under the duvet. Two hundred dollar bills fell on your lap, making your eyes widen. This was almost double what you’d have made for your shift tonight. You bit your lip and put the money back into the envelope before shoving it inside your bedside table. Maybe you could get used to this, spending time with a beautiful woman and being paid for it. What was that thing she said? Ah, yes, to seek utmost pleasure.

Tell me every reason you enjoy Zootopia enough to give it all the rewatches you do.
Every? Oh boy.
Good Story
Perfect Characters
Visual Appeal
Earnestness
Let me break it down.
1. Good Story
Zootopia’s main point is: “Try to make the world a better place by realizing we’re fundamentally the same.”
That’s a really good main point.
It has the benefit of being true. Right now our culture is super into “self-identification,” and this crazy contrast between, “I want to be able to identify as something special” and “Now that I know what categories I fit in, I can choose who’s ‘one of us’ and who’s ’not one of us.’” Okay well that sounds pretty and I’m sure it fulfills some emotional need at some point, but it’s actually super divisive, and self-serving, and it’s the seeds for all prejudices. Including racism.
Do we have differences in origins and experiences? Yes. Of course. Do we also have some fundamental things in common? Yes. Of course. Which truth are you going to give the highest priority to? If it’s “no, I’m a prey animal, I know exactly where I belong, that’s who I am, that’s how I dress, that’s my compass for how I interact with others” then you’re getting all your security from your “sense of self,” and being able to understand what that is…which is just a fancy way of saying “I’m all about me. My own perspective informs everything I do.”
Anyway. Zootopia’s message was super true.
And the coolest thing about it is that if only Judy were in the wrong, and the other half of the dynamic duo, Nick, was this open-minded, un-prejudiced guy…and she just hurts him and has to apologize…the movie’s message wouldn’t be as well-communicated.
They have their prejudices and their hurt-from-being-prejudiced-against in common!
They’re the same…because they’ve both felt what it’s like to be treated like they’re not “the same.”
Nick isn’t the only character being mistreated and written off because of his species. The whole first half of the movie is about Judy being mistreated and written off. They think she can’t be a cop because she’s little and cute and a prey-animal. They think Nick can’t be trustworthy because he’s sneaky and small and a predator.
So literally…if Judy represented one race, and Nick represented a completely different race…the movie would be saying that both those races are discriminated against. They even have discrimination in common. AND, if Nick represented men who people make assumptions about because he’s a man, and Judy represented women who people make assumptions about because she’s a woman—the movie would be saying that both those genders are falsely judged.
I mean. Wow. Right now, your movie is either pro-woman or pro-man. Right now, your movie is either BLM or white-supremacy. Everybody’s lining up on one side of the line or the other. Zootopia says, “it doesn’t matter what character you’re looking at, from the elephant that can’t remember anything to the two main characters—every single one of them has fundamental things in common, and one of those things is that they all live like they’re in their own special category. When actually, they’re all fundamentally the same.”
I don’t want to keep beating the dead horse. But I have a post somewhere that lists every background character and points out that each animal is the exact opposite of what you would assume they are based on their animal-stereotype. The otters are never shown being playful or snuggly, only traumatized and ferocious. The cheetah is fat and slow, not quick or even quick on the uptake. Etc.
Even if you look outside of characters—look at the sets. Look at the environments. The whole city is designed “for animals, by animals.” But it’s in neat little segments. The animals organize themselves by habitat. Of course, in one sense that’s practical—the polar bears can’t live in Sahara Square, etc. but the point is, by making Judy and Nick, the main characters, small animals, in a city where everything is built to accommodate by species—UGH this is so good—they have to figure out how to problem-solve in situations that weren’t made to accommodate them.
Little Rodentia? Judy has to avoid stepping on all the mice or knocking over their buildings. Parking tickets? She has to figure out how to jump to reach bigger animals’ windshields—or she inconveniences smaller animals because the tickets are all printed at the exact same size. Stuck in a cell? The guards didn’t think about the fact that small animals can fit down the pipes made to accommodate big animals.
Zootopia is a city advertised to be where all the animals can come together. But the way they do that is by trying to accommodate every species’ preferences. So then actually while they try to come together, everything from their cars to their districts remind them of their differences. The whole idea is that they prioritize the wrong truths. Yeah, mice can’t drive giraffe cars—but they still have “driving” in common. See?
And oh my word. Initially it was supposed to be a spy story. But they changed it to a buddy cop story. Why? Well because justice doesn’t discriminate. Or at least, it’s not supposed to. So then there’s another lens to look at the story’s main theme through.
It’s just that every layer, every perspective you look at the movie from, is just hammering that truth into you: “Try to make the world a better place by realizing we’re fundamentally the same.”
2. Perfect Characters
Every character is so well-thought-through in this movie, even the side characters. You get the feeling you could watch a whole movie based on the side characters, because that’s the amount of love and nuance built into them.
Look at the main ones, though. Bellwhether is supposed to be soft and a follower. She’s a sheep. Instead, she’s hard and bitter—and she’s a leader. A villainous leader, but a leader, nonetheless. Even as she tries to keep animals divided based on fear of their stereotypes, she’s not fitting her own stereotype. Her voice actress has this strained, half-hoarse, but sweet voice. Like you can tell that this character has spent a lot of time under pressure and trying to manage appearances. Appearing like she’s fine, and she can handle it—until you realize that the appearance she’s really managing is “the cultural fear-based identify of the city.” They dress her in plaid and flowers and she’s a farm animal, because that’s the kind of character Judy would be most likely to trust. But she still has green eyes, and jagged teeth, so that when she does start making evil expressions there are some caricature-pieces in there that come out and accentuate that.
Nick Wilde—everybody’s favorite—is supposed to be sly and smooth and shifty. And he is. He’s a fox. But he’s also brave, helpful, and trustworthy. The first time you see him is when he’s dodging out of the way of a bigger animal ignoring him and about to run him over. Well, that’s important.
Because Judy knows what it’s like to have to get out of the way of larger animals, because they overlook her.
So right off the bat, this character she has to get along with and work with, this character who furthers her development and nails the main point, is introduced in a way that has something in common with her. But he’s also introduced in a way that gives her an opportunity to focus on a different truth—that he is different from her. Because the sheep is yelling that he’s a “fox.” Right away, we’re back to species-as-identification.
And that’s what the movie does, all the way through. It presents new animal characters, and with those new animals characters, more than one thing is true at a time. And Judy has to try to focus on which truth is more important. “Try to make the world a better place by realizing we’re all the same.” Yes, Nick is a criminal. But Nick is also brave, helpful, and eventually, becomes trustworthy.
Judy, too. Judy is an incredibly well-done character. Because she believes, in her head, that anyone can be anything—which is not what the movie ends on. In fact, she goes from saying, “anyone can be anything,” to saying, “we all have limitations.” It’s not true that a fox can be an elephant. But it is true that a fox can be trustworthy. Figure out what’s true, and try to make decisions for the better, based on that.
I could talk about character design and acting. Ginnifer Goodwin gives just the right amount of smugness and self-confidence to Judy without making her unlikeable—you don’t realize she’s smug and her self-confidence is misplaced until she does, when she fails to make the world a better place for Nick.
Judy wears tight, actionable, well-fitting uniforms for the whole movie. In her civilian clothes when she comes to Zootopia, she’s wearing athletic t-shirts and shorts. Ready for action, that’s Judy, even in her civvies. Meanwhile, Nick? Nick wears loose-fitting clothes. Loud, patterned clothes that don’t match. Like he didn’t even what, ladies and gentlemen? Like he didn’t even TRY. “Try to make the world a better place…”
Because when you meet Nick Wilde, he’s long since given up on trying, in life. So his character design reflects that. He rarely even stands up straight, or opens his eyes all the way—his default is drooping. And guess what?
When Judy “gives up?” Quits her job? Goes back home? Stops trying? Her civvies aren’t ready-for-action, trying clothes. They’re loose flannels. And her “ears are droopy.”
SERIOUSLY, you can find things like this in every corner of the movie. For every character. Not one character is a throwaway, not in voice acting, not in design, not in animation, and not in narrative.
3. Visual Appeal
Which leads me into this point—no other animated anthropomorphic animal movie is as visually appealing as Zootopia.
What Zootopia does is it matches the best of the best anthropomorphic animal designs from past Disney movies:
And they marry it with this incredible intentionality with modern CGI.
Did you know Disney invents its own software for things like fur textures?
The sheep’s wool, the velvet pig skin, the fox fur, the bunny fluff—it’s all completely different textures. There’s no one “fur” covering all the hairy mammals.
Nick isn’t just orange. He’s orange with deep red and dark tufts. Judy has black tips to her ears, too—which helps the two of them look like, in some sense, they belong “together” in every shot.
It’s so important to the movie that the animals feel like animals that they worked this hard to do this. And then that extends to the textures of the snow, the ice, the sand, the wet leaves, the grass, the fire.
Every character moves like their animal, and like themselves. Nick and Gideon are both foxes, but they don’t move similarly at all. Gideon is aggressive and glowering and physical. Nick, again, is slouchy, leans on everything, completely non-confrontational.
Other anthropomorphic animal movies like Sing or Puss in Boots—they’re not doing both as well. Zootopia is appealing, without sacrificing realism completely, and without cutting character acting.
The lighting. Nope. This post is too long, I can’t talk any more.
4. Earnestness
There is no disingenuous moment in this movie.
The animators are never lazy. They always go for the challenge. They don’t cut corners. Have you ever seen “Over the Hedge?” I like Over the Hedge. But I watched it recently and it’s crazy how many shots are strategically placed so that the animators don’t have to solve a certain effects problem.
For example, when RJ sprays Hammy with cool whip to make it look like he has rabies? He doesn’t. You never see the cool whip leave the can. It just cuts away, then cuts back when RJ is pulling the can away from his face. The shots are also cut so that you never have to see gas actually come out of Stella—and you never see Vern’s full body as he gets back into his shell, just the upper part of the shell as he wiggles it around, going through the motions of putting it back on.
That’s because that stuff would be painstaking to animate. Any time one character has to interact with props or substances (especially liquids) that are not part of their model, it’s harder on the animator.
Zootopia? We’re getting full-on views of characters getting wet, fur and all, characters touching various objects and elements, foam coming out of the mouth, new clothes, new set pieces, multiple models, huge crowd shots of different animals in different outfits, all with their own movement patterns and acting.
And all that hard work and effort, aimed so totally at the main theme of the movie? Making sure it looks as good as it can? Not just that, but the way it’s written, the acting, is so genuine. They don’t hold anything back. They don’t shy away from real emotion.
Judy Hopps’ apology scene is brutal. She’s crying, having a hard time finishing a sentence, her voice is all tight. It’s not pretty, it’s not romantic, it’s like…ugly crying. And her character is wrong in a super embarrassing way. They're not afraid to go there. The writers, the actors, the animators—they’re not afraid of being too vulnerable with these character flaws.
So many movies, especially kids’ movies today—they just pull up and shy away from being real through their characters. They think a quick sad facial expression will get the point across. And it does. The audience gets that the character feels sad about whatever the circumstance of the scene is. But not as powerfully. Because you didn’t put as much work and heart into it.
Zootopia is all heart, from work ethic to vulnerability to the filmmakers enjoying what they’re doing, enough to make it as good as it can possibly be. I can’t explain it better, other than to say, you feel like they would’ve been happy making this movie much much longer than it was. You feel like they’re cramming every bit of joy and passsion into every little joke, every side character, every hair on a CGI bear.
There you go. Long post, you did ask for it

**THIS IS PURELY A WORK OF FICTION AND DOES NOT REFLECT THE TRUE NATURE OF THE PEOPLE MENTIONED**
To truly be alive is to make the most of every day and live each day like it's your last. That's been your motto for the past 5 years since you graduated college.
You ended up on what you'd call a dead end office job–boring, mundane, and tedious. Well, at least it paid the bills, right?
To say you missed the lively experience of college was an understatement. Non-stop partying on the weekends with all your sorority girls, jello shots all around, even the hangovers before school the next morning–it was exactly the life you loved so much.
And so, every Friday night after work you'd escape your dull 9-5 and life like your youth was on repeat all over again. Nothing could compare to the dazzling show of lights and upbeat music to release you from your fears.
It's at one of these parties where you meet your ride or die best friend, Aeri.
What started out as seeing a pretty pink haired girl standing in the corner of a club with a red solo cup quickly turned into bar hopping on the weekends with her. You always knew that she'd be there dancing and partying alongside you, no matter how bad the hangover would be the next day.
You'd say that you knew each other fairly well–after all, you both shared intimate secrets about your life and office horror stories while drinking too many shots of tequila at a V.I.P. couch. You knew that she too had a job she despised as a CEO’s assistant and retreated regularly on the weekends at the clubs alongside you, and that her only close friend besides you was her dog. What you never seemed to know, however, was her love life. You'd ramble on while tipsy about your ex-boyfriends constantly–but Aeri never seemed to have any expert advice to give you, other than saying “That's why men suck, girl.” to you. But hey, at least she was right–men do suck.
That's how you felt, at least this weekend. Your friend with benefits had ghosted you entirely, and the only swipes you seemed to get on dating apps were pervy old men wanting a younger girl. Gross.
Oh well, at least you could talk to Aeri about your woes over some Pink Whitney tonight–and hopefully forget that shit ever happened.
—--
Chat Log With: Aeri🤞💕
You: Heyyy wyd tonight
Riri: Not much, wbu?
You: Hopefully going out tonight, wanna come?
Riri: Duhhhh babe
You: Sweet! Any places in mind?
Riri: Well there's this new place in town called Passionfruit that everyone keeps raving about, wanna check it out?
You: For sure. 8 as usual?
Riri: Yep! I'll send the addy, don't be late ;)
—-------------
You followed the directions your GPS gave you and ended up in the somewhat run-down part of town, no signs of life in sight. You were a little bit scared hopping out of your car, hoping no one would hop out of the bushes and attack you–but your worries quickly vanished as you heard a familiar voice.
“HEYYYY! Y/N, OVER HERE!” Aeri shouted across the street, waving her arm frantically to get your attention.
You quickly dashed across the street to meet her at the doors of the club. There seemed to be no indication that this was a party of any sorts–no LED lights or bass booming music coming from inside.
“Soooo is this one of those underground places?” You asked, your attention on the seemingly deserted looking lobby.
“I guess so, let's just go in and make sure this isn't some lame ass attorney’s office.” She replied, opening the door and letting the both of you in.
The lobby was bare, repping only a bland white wall and a desk with a flower on it. What did catch your attention, however, was the large man standing by the club entrance glaring at the two of you.
“ID's, please.” The large man demanded, causing both of you to fummel through your purses and hand your IDs to him. He checks them very intently before silently handing them back and nodding, opening the door for the two of you.
The club inside was vibrant, with iridescent purple and red lights dazzled by disco balls scattered around the ceiling. The bar was packed and the pool tables were swarmed with cheers from all sides. Girls were all over the dance floor with each other, drinks in hand and someone's tit in the other. Normally the few women making out with each other in the corner wouldn't pay you mind, but something seemed off.
Wow…there's a LOT of women in here, you thought.
“Hey Aeri…where's the hot guys?” You asked.
“I dunno, they must be - ohhhh. Whoops.” She replied, causing you to raise your brow at her.
“Whaddya mean whoops? Is this a–” You cut off your speech after quickly realizing that this was not, in fact, a normal club.
“Oh, so that's why there's no men.” You answered.
“Sorry girl, I didn't know this was that kinda club.” She replied.
“Eh, it's whatever. As long as there's enough tequila for the two of us.” You responded, ushering Aeri to the now less packed bar.
The rest of the night went surprisingly fun. You and Aeri met a lot of different girls, some single and some with their girlfriends–both the single and taken ones seemed to be interested in you both. Seriously, you'd never gotten this much attention in your life. Girls were swarming to call you “sexy” and “hot mama” just as much as they were to Aeri. To be honest, normally, you'd just laugh it off, but the alcohol in your joint systems made you both flirt back.
“You know what?” Aeri turns to you, “This shit is awesome. This place is my new lesbian paradise.”
Wait, what'd she say?
“What do you mean lesbian paradise?” You ask.
She freezes in place, almost like she turned herself right in.
“Uhhh nothing, forget about it, let's just go dance!” She says hurriedly, grabbing your hand and rushing you to the dance floor.
For the next few minutes you had the time of your life, though still wondering what Aeri meant earlier. The music began to slow into a cheesy love ballad as women intertwined with each other in a slow embrace.
The two of you stood there awkwardly at first, but as you watched the fiery room of passion igniting around you–it clicked.
Aeri liked women too.
Not like she'd be any less of your friend, but a lot of things were starting to make sense–like how she felt strangely at home here and never indulged you with her own stories of men. Your head began to spin as butterflies filled your stomach. You wondered if maybe–she thought you were pretty too?
Well, you were gonna find out, no matter how drunk you were.
“Wanna dance?” You asked, sincerity in your voice.
“Wait..for real? It's ok we don't have to-” You cut off her speech by dragging her to the center and embracing her close.
“Y'know…” You spoke. “...It's cool that you like girls. It must be nice never having to deal with pussy ass men.”
“Wait, who told you I liked girls? I never said-” You pressed your finger over her mouth and shushed her. “It's kinda obvious, silly. I still love ya tho~!” You giggled cheerfully.
A smile rose on her face as her head rested on your shoulder.
“Sooo is it fun kissing girls?” You asked, earning a chuckle from Aeri.
“Yeah, way better than men.” She replied.
“Y'know, I’ve always wanted to know what it's like to kiss a girl. Katy Perry swears it's awesome.” You said. “Maybe I should ask that hot ass masc over there to gimme a smooch.”
“I wouldn't if I were you.” Aeri replied.
“Why not?”
“‘Cause she's a regular here from what the bartender said, she might have STDs or something from all the girls she's slept with.” She replied, rolling her eyes.
“Okay, so, can I kiss you then?” You asked.
“W-w…what?”
“So can I? I really need to kiss a girl Aeri, I need to know if it's better than kissing a man. Help a girl out, please?” You pleaded.
She could tell you were being dead serious despite your now drunken nature. You'd never been this direct with anyone, let alone her. She'd been dreaming of kissing you for God knows how long now, but never said anything because she knew about all the guys you dated.
“Alright.” she sighed, almost contently. “Pucker up, baby.”
And so your lips locked with hers. They were so warm and yet so soft and plump, you felt like you were on Cloud 9. You never wanted to stop, so you didn't. Even if Aeri pulled back slightly out of anxiety, you swooped right back in, ravishing her cherry chapstick flavored lips.
“Why don't we go somewhere more private, ‘kay?” She asked. You nodded, the two of you scurrying through the crowd towards the women's single stall bathroom.
—-----------
The bathroom you and Aeri rushed into was run down and filled with graffiti–but it didn't matter at this point, you needed her.
As she locked the door behind you two, the heated making out resumed once again as she firmly grasped your waist to pull you in and feel your body closer to hers. You, of course, with your liquid courage, decided to go straight for her breasts– and dear god, they were so supple and soft. How have you been missing out on this your whole life?
Your hands roamed her entire body, from the soft skin on her neck to her firm and supple ass. It had never occurred to you truly how gorgeous her body really was, but you felt glad nonetheless to touch her as your tongues collided roughly.
You bit down on her bottom lip, earning a soft moan from her–which sparked something in you.
You wanted her, badly.
“Aeri…c-can I touch you?” You whispered, slowly pulling away from the kiss and gazing deep into her eyes.
“Fuck, I mean… if you want to–but don't feel pressured obviously.” She muttered. You could tell she wanted this almost as badly as you did, but her worries still seeped through the drinks in her system. You'd never kissed a girl before today, let alone pleasured one.
And yet, you felt more ready than ever.
“Hop up on the sink for me--kay’?” You asked, nudging her towards the counter of the bathroom faucets.
“You sure, babe? You don't have to just to make me happy, I promise.” She added, leaning up against the counter and pushing her weight against it.
“Yeah, I'm sure.” You replied.
“Girl, you're drunk as shit.” She giggled, now sat on top of the sink, fingers fiddling with the hem of her skirt and panties.
Your hand assisted her in sliding off her coverings, giving you a full view of her now bare soaking cunt face view to you.
You'd never done this before clearly, but something inside of you couldn't resist even if you tried. Her pussy was glistening right before your eyes–begging to be tasted and worshipped. Besides, who were you to deny her?
Your second thoughts seceded the moment your tongue delicately ran up her slit, causing a whimper to come from Aeri's mouth. She tasted so sweet and yet so warm–your senses were flooded.
You swiftly swiped your tongue across her soaking cunt, swirling around her poor swollen clit. Aeri cried out at the sensations of you ravaging her as she desperately tried stimulating her clit on the tip of your nose, while you moved down to fuck her starving hole with your tongue.
“F-fuuuuck Y/N, just like ngh…that.” Aeri moaned, almost desperately. All you could think about in this state was how pretty she looked with her eyes rolled back as you ravished her. Maybe she'd look even prettier when she came.
And so you decided to speed up the process, sliding your two center fingers into her greedy hole, earning a loud and drawn-out moan from her. God, she was so wet–and all for you. You quickly found your steady pace as Aeri bit her lip and threw her head back in pleasure–but you didn't want her to stay quiet. You wanted to hear every melodic moan that came out of her. You quickened the pace at which you were sliding in and out of her–taking notice of the involuntary squeezing of her walls around your digits.
The drinks in your system couldn't compare to how drunk you were off her pussy right now. Every thought in your head was now turned into a haze as all your senses were focused entirely on the divine goddess in front of you. You could tell by the desperation in Aeri's cries for you that she was close–and you were gonna milk every last drop out of her.
“Mmmm~fuck! I’m gonna cum, please don't stop Y/N!” She moaned, her thighs now tightening around your head.
Your lips latched onto her clit in response and sucked harshly as your fingers trusted in and out of her at a newly fast pace. The pressure around your head increased as you felt Aeri's body begin to violently shudder. Your eyes peeked up to see her eyes rolled up to the heavens accompanied by her cries of pleasure.
“Holy shit–I'm cumming I'm cummi–oh, fuck~!” She shouted as waves of pleasure flooded her entire body–causing her cunt to leak creamy white liquid. You licked her entire pussy up and down, leaving not a single spot uncleaned as you took all of her juices in.
You looked up at her now disheveled figure as your eyes met, a smile crept up on both of your faces.
“Yeah, ok, I'm never going back to men.” You chuckled.
“You didn't have to do that, Y/N.” Aeri spoke.
“I really wanted to, though.”
“You were a natural, Y/N.” She giggled.
“Let's go back to my place. Wanna come back next week, same time?” You asked.
“Definitely.”

the original post i want everyone to see is way out of my hands now, so i’ll repost this again here as new but separate post. it touches on things i want to go into more depth about.
@wasabikitcat gets this idea. this reply—thank you so much for not just understanding what i was going for, but putting my exact thoughts into cleaner words on the bad reading comprehension site.
i can't believe how misunderstood my point was about “spirituality” (i didn’t know it was that much of a loaded phrase!), but thank you for putting what i meant into more nuanced terms.
it's something that can be hard for me to put into words, and maybe i gave people the wrong impression by using the word "spirituality", since words mean different things to different people. i just haven't seen people discussing it so i wasn't sure how to really put it. but regardless of terminology, this reply is exactly what i'm getting at. and this is coming from someone who has a very scientific mind. i wouldnt even consider myself a traditionally “spiritual” person in the normal connotation of the word.
edit: this one as well!
i see this as a cultural/political factor that we shouldn’t ignore, because this sense of meaning has driven people's motivations since the beginning of human civilization.
there's a primal aspect that hasn't really left us but there seems to be no room for it in our modern culture because half of these “guides” seem to be driven by “i cant wait for civilization to collapse so MY ideology can rise from the ashes" and the other half of it seems to be driven by greed. and often they are hand in hand.
i would really like to see actual enlightening ideas stemming from buddhist thought, analytical psychology, collective unconscious, and archetypes to take off in the public consciousness. (completely divorced from jordan peterson. just the original jungian stuff)
i am especially supportive towards getting people interested in carl jung's works. his idea was to get people to understand, "what myth am i living?" based on the same archetypes and symbols that recur time and time again throughout human history that we can all collectively recognize regardless of culture. so it's a sense of meaning based in the self. i don't want people being sent down reactionary paths when looking for meaning in their lives.
i think it would benefit people to who feel lost especially in uncertain/unprecedented times like, with those “there's got to be more to this, something deeper,” insinct. i see that people are looking for this but get taken advantage of or manipulated.
but on this deeper sense of meaning in life thing, the Left isn't doing a great job at providing an option for “lost” people looking for meaning that the Right seems to be having no trouble with. i wonder if this is why we've seen so many of these lost young men flock to reactionary commentators?
this reminds me of an excellent point contrapoints made in her video about jordan peterson, saying,
“The last thing I like is that you talk about deep shit. I was watching a video where you and a couple of zany goons were talking about Plato and Aristotle and the meaning of life. And I thought, ‘Huh… on the Left, we don’t really talk about that kind of thing. All we talk about is how society oppresses people.’ And that might not be enough. Because people need to have a positive purpose in life. I mean, personally, I don’t give a shit. I’m pretty happy to sit here watching the same three seasons of Strangers with Candy until I die. But other people, like Dostoevsky, Camus, other white guys who talk about lobsters…they have this need to have purpose in the face of suffering, and like, not just complain about patriarchy. I guess it’s easier to not complain about patriarchy when patriarchy isn’t the thing that’s making you suffer. But I do think that an education that only teaches people about oppression is inadequate. We spend four years teaching undergraduates why capitalism is bad, and then we say, ‘Well, you’re educated now. Good luck getting a job under capitalism, bye!’ …And that really kind of sucks! But you know, I think that’s a point that can probably be made without comparing transgender activism to Stalin.”
speaking of her, this is a related post i wrote earlier on young men being radicalized and how to approach communication
and by the way, if you are interested in learning jungian psychology and want to see what it’s about, here are some resources to get you started:
i think the jung subreddit has a great collection of resources on its about page.
i highly recommend Demystifying Jungian Psychology to start. it’s meant for beginners. it is available in english and spanish. you can currently find the book in the comments section here. since sometimes these links lead to a 404, i don’t want to link directly to the google drive page. i want you to have a link to the original thread in case it gets broken.

hey there! i don’t mean this in bad faith at all, and i’m not trying to use a term that’s a fascist dogwhistle. i promise i’m just confused😭
so i’m not a guy, nor have i ever been perceived as one, but in one of your recent posts, you said that men can’t experience oppression solely based on the fact that they’re men. which was kind of confusing to me — i don’t think you’re wrong, i think it’s me but i don’t know how to get to how you see it like that.
because in my experience, men can experience oppression because they’re men, although i don’t know if i’m saying that right or conflating the meanings of certain terms. i’m probably wrong, and would just love some clarification?
for example, my brother and i were always held to different standards growing up — it was expected of me to always cry and be emotional, and i was a ‘stone cold bitch’ if that wasn’t the case, but if my brother wanted to show negative emotions like sadness he was treated like there was something wrong with him too. and i know it wasn’t my brother — i spend a lot of time working with my high school’s diversity team, and in a lot of the events we organise, guys talk about how they feel enormous pressure to be angry and never sad, and to have stereotypically masculine interests and never deviate from that norm.
i also know men who’ve struggled to get jobs such as teaching as those are viewed as ‘female’ jobs and it’s a common view that men who want those jobs are ‘only in it to be around kids’. i’ve heard many women around me perpetuate sentiments like that, so i know they’re not making it up, even if it isn’t equal to the systematic oppression women face in almost every aspect of their careers.
i’m not providing these examples to prove you wrong, since i do think you’re right. i’m hoping that a window into the way i’ve always thought might help you clarify this in a way that can help me to change my mind, since i just think i’m lacking some clarity or context here. i think i’m conflating abuse and stereotypes with oppression, but i’m really not sure. any advice would be really appreciated!
i’m so sorry if this comes off badly, i don’t mean it that way. i’m just trying to learn, i promise i’m not trying to promote the kind of hate and close mindedness you’ve been seeing in your inbox as of late.
Hi! As always, I do not mind answering genuine questions!
The things you're talking about growing up and seeing boys around you pressured to present only certain emotions, that's part of the patriarchy!
Certain emotions are supposed to be "feminine" and thus boys shouldn't show them, while girls are often always considered "emotional" in some fashion. That's not oppression based on those boys being men that you're talking about.
It's the backlash that the patriarchy, and by addition trans/misogyny has on men. It's boys being pressured not to show certain emotions because those emotions are "feminine" and they're supposed to associate feminimity with weakness and shit.
What you're talking about there is also trans/misogyny!
The idea that men who do things perceived as feminine are predators, the idea that specific jobs are "female" jobs [while even in those specific female jobs, men are generally paid better and find it easier to get into those jobs than women trying to get into traditionally "male" jobs"]
[Though obviously this varies based on race and whether they're trans, etc, etc.]
To be a little more clear, all of the things you're talking about don't primarily affect cis men/boys. They fuck up transfems, because it's trans/misogyny.
You're right! It's not systemic oppression.
You might wonder if it's social oppression, which is also a no. Social oppression would require a historical/systemic oppression behind it. But that doesn't exist in this case.
What it is is the common issue oppressors run into. While they benefit greatly from oppression, there is also backlash they face from their own systems of oppression.
Like white people who fall into suicide cults trying to work towards white supremacy, or TERFs who fall into groups where they slowly pick each other off as they discover they're not all exactly the same and wind up accusing each other of not being "real" women, systems of bigotry simply do not work out perfectly even for the oppressors.
They never do.
To create the patriarchy, you must establish trans/misogyny, you must establish intersexism and you must push people to conform to those ideals, even if they hurt your own.
It's similar to how white supremacy can harm white people, despite white people obviously not being oppressed racially. The backlash of oppression hits even the oppressors sometimes.
Suppression, as a term, would honestly work far better to describe what you're talking about.
So yes, it's stereotyping, yes it's abusive to tell your children not to show/feel their emotions but it's not oppression based on these guys in your life being men! It's part of how trans/misogyny, transphobia and intersexism are enforced.
I understand exactly where you're coming from! It doesn't sound bad and I genuinely don't mind answering questions! Especially since you've got some good ones!
I'm not sure if I rambled too much to explain this properly but I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions and/or need me to clarify anything here. <33

As I read up on terfism and how it hinders progressive efforts I find myself curious, if it weren’t for all the ways that anti-masculinity turns around to bite queer folk would you be as against it? Like if you could be sure that man hating only ever effected cis straight white neurotypical men would it be an issue at all?
it would still be an issue, and i am still 100% against it. i am always 100% against hating someone for their gender, sexuality or neurotype. i do not believe in hating someone, or treating someone like they are beyond redemption just because of their identity, and how their brain works.
demonizing cis straight white neurotypical men is exactly why they behave like this in the first place. when we teach cishet men than they are "just like that" and that "men just suck," it provides an ultimatum where they can never improve. ever. so why would they want to? would you want to improve if everyone around you is straight up telling you you can't? that you're destined to be a rude asshole? that you're a monster who exists just to hurt people?
you have to ask yourself: how would you feel if someone told you these things just because of your gender?
if we want men to improve how they treat us, we have to improve how we treat men. patriarchy only benefits a small handful of men. the rest, we treat like absolute dogshit and we have to acknowledge it. we call men weak the second they have a singular emotion. we call them pathetic if they struggle. we devalue their entire lives if they can't work. we have to show them that they are just as capable of a broad range of lives and emotions as anyone else. we force men to be stoic workhorses that hate anything feminine. we force men to be emotionless. we force men to be distant and cold. we force men to do all of these things.
reinforcing that men deserve to be hated inherently only serves to create a further divide between sexes and genders, which is exactly what we don't need in order to liberate ourselves from the gender binary. by insinuating that one group of person will always be bad, no matter what, and deserve to be hated is not what will bring us forward in life. queer people should never inherently hate cishet people, because that's exactly what they do to us. it doesn't help anyone. hate for the sake of hate only hurts you. hate breeds hate
you, and everyone else, should care about men- yes, including cishet white neurotypical men. when we care for men, we create caring men. we have to show men compassion and kindness in order for them to understand it and reciprocate it. if we treat men with hostility and standoffishness their entire lives, is there any reason why they tend to struggle with emotions, compassion, and kindness?
i don't know why it's so controversial to say this, but you should just respect people and not make assumptions about them based off of how they identify alone. that includes non queer people. man hating will never, ever be okay. no matter what men you hate. if it's not okay to hate women, it's not okay to hate men.

An incredibly pernicious anti-transmasc argument that keeps making the rounds is that everything we do was plagiarized from trans women.
Coining a term to describe our unique and gendered experiences of oppression? We're just copying trans women.
Complain that we're often rejected from queer circles for our perceived violent maleness? We're just parroting what's happened to trans women.
Forcemasc fetish blogs? We're just copying One Specific Trans Woman-Run Blog that got popular.
These claims are annoying on their own, but together they paint a clear picture of what transandrophobes want you to believe: that trans men and transmascs are incapable of creating anything ourselves, or if we did, it would have nothing in common with what trans women and fems are doing. The function of these claims is to convince you that trans people of seemingly opposite identities are equally opposite in experiences, and any evidence to the contrary is actually cultural appropriation fueled by jealousy.
This is gender essentialism. It's fueled by the radical feminist belief that "woman" and "man" are not so much terms that get abused to justify people's oppression as they are positions in a class conflict, one where All Men seek and/or directly benefit from the oppression of All Women, and that indeed, manhood and womanhood themselves are defined by this relationship to one another. To be a man is to be an entitled parasite; to be a woman is to be an overworked victim.
That notion is racist and transphobic on the face of it, and that is equally obvious in these arguments about trans men - all of which are predicated on the idea that the average trans man is white, well-off, and able to go stealth whenever necessary, and therefore benefits from the maximum amount of male privilege a trans man can be afforded. Following from that logic, any trans man or that you encounter online can be reasonably assumed to share that experience, and any mention he might make of trans men who fail to meet those qualifications is nothing more than a rhetorical cudgel that we use to deny our own privilege.
I'm sure you can see the problem there.
It's not surprising that I typically see these claims made by white women, frequently about Black and Indigenous men. Speaking from the perspective of a white person, it can be very easy to fall into a trap of thinking that our specific experiences with oppression makes us general experts, and grow defensive when someone provides knowledge that shows we were wrong. It can like we're being victimized on the basis of the oppression we do have, and it can be incredibly hard to stop, listen, and admit that we fucked up. This is doubly difficult when the person criticizing us is a member of a demographic that seemingly contributes to the oppression we face.
But just because we think it's happening doesn't always make it so. Yes, there are times when people are acting in bad faith, or overlooking their own areas of ignorance - to err, as they say, is human. But often, we're the ones in the wrong, and need to recognize that fact before acting. So where do we draw the line?
The thing that I've always found crucial is to stop, breathe, and think. We have to honestly ask ourselves whether the other party is saying "your experiences are not real", or just "your understanding of these issues isn't as all-encompassing as you assumed". Simply asking yourself "am I really being harmed, or do I just feel like I'm being harmed?" can often save you from a massive foot-in-mouth situation.
It's necessary to remember that people whose identities are different from our own have their own experience and knowledge. Unless they are coming out and telling us what problems we do or don't have, we need to trust that they're coming from a place of good faith and genuine knowledge, and be willing to listen and change our minds if necessary.
We have to make ourselves comfortable with the fact that we are not always the most, or only, important voice in the room.
That's something that a lot of anti-transmasc women love to remind us, and I wouldn't say they're always wrong. Simply being a man can and often does incentivize people to engage in misogyny, to talk over women and disregard their experiences, when we find them uncomfortable or irrelevant. Again - everybody fucks up sometimes. But it crosses a line when you start demanding that courtesy from others while refusing to extend it back to them; when you treat any information they offer as automatically inferior or entirely invalid, based solely on their perceived relationship to privilege.
In fact, doing so is literally an ad hominem argument.
Aside from that, I must point out that these arguments are being employed specifically to silence trans men's and mascs' voices. This is not an honest misunderstanding; it's an act of profound self-centeredness at best and outright malice at worst. How do I know this? Well, stop me if you've ever heard one of these before:
"Women don't have real interests; they just like silly frivolous things. Men's hobbies are real and meaningful."
"Women are inherently wired to be emotional. Men are logical and level-headed. I'm not sexist, it's just science."
"If you hear a woman say anything smart, you can bet she learned it from a man."
These, too, are silencing tactics, historically (and currently!) used to devalue and silence the voices of women. In fact, they're things that I have personally heard and been affected by, as a trans man who has spent the vast majority of my life being seen and treated as a woman.
I didn't fall for it then, and I sure ain't falling for it now.

SOTM: Gabe/Stephen; a low-key occasion (pt II)
For the prompt: Stephen Petersen, Bridezilla
Follows from here.
“Unbelievable,” Stephen says. “What are they thinking?”
Gabe’s tired. He just wants to veg in front of the TV with his bento box and his fiancé, but even though Stephen’s supposed to be picking the movie right now, he’s scowling down at his phone instead, his expression the one Gabe can only describe as ‘wedding face’. Gabe’s started to feel dread every time he sees it, and today’s no exception, though tired still narrowly beats it out. “Who is ‘they’?”
“They can’t truly believe that this is an acceptable substitute for our napkins,” Stephen says.
“Wait?” Gabe says. “Substitute? What happened to the original ones?”
“They discontinued the colour,” Stephen huffs. “Of course.”
“They discontinued white?” Gabe asks. “How do you discontinue white?”
“Alabaster,” Stephen says. “Not white.”
“Steve,” Gabe says.
“That’s what it’s called!” Stephen says. “And look what they want us to use instead!”
Gabe is suddenly blinking at a picture of white napkins on Stephen's screen. Presumably they’re different than the napkins they originally picked, but if Stephen hadn’t told Gabe that, he doubts he would have known. They look like napkins. White ones.
“They look fine,” he says.
“This looks fine to you?” Stephen says, shoving his phone in Gabe’s face. “This?”
It’s honestly harder to see with Stephen’s screen an inch from his eye, but —
“Yes?” Gabe says.
“Ridiculous,” Stephen says, yanking the phone away. “At this point it’s getting easier to list the things they haven’t fucked up about my wedding day.”
“It’s my wedding too,” Gabe says, though honestly, that’s feeling less and less true lately. “Are you going to pick a movie, or—“
“I’m not in the mood anymore,” Stephen says,
Of course he isn’t.
“I need my laptop,” Stephen says, springing up from the couch. “I’m sure they’re still available somewhere.”
“Dinner?” Gabe says, but Stephen just dismissively waves a hand at him on his way out of the room.
“They’re fucking napkins,” Gabe says, but very quietly. Stephen has exceptional hearing, especially if the topic involves him.
“Did you say something?” Stephen calls.
Exceptional.
This isn’t a battle Gabe’s willing to fight today. “You need to eat your dinner,” Gabe calls back, but, as he expected, silence is his only response.
“Well,” Gabe says, and grabs the remote, listlessly scrolling through options while he eats. He’s not in the mood anymore either.
~
“I have heard rumours,” Stephen says.
“Tell me!” Dmitry says. “I love rumours.”
“Rumours about you,” Stephen says.
“Even better!” Dmitry says.
Stephen’s mouth twists, and Gabe turns away. It’s not like Stephen doesn’t know he’s hiding a smile when he does it, but at least there’s some plausible deniability. Stephen’s usually fine with Gabe laughing at him, but not if other people are there to see him do it, even if it’s just Dima.
“Apparently,” Stephen says. “At my wedding, you are planning on making a speech.”
“Is my duty,” Dmitry says. “As Gabe’s best man.”
“We don’t—“ Stephen says.
Gabe can already hear the speech about how they don’t have any best men or maids of honour because this is not a traditional wedding and the people in their lives shouldn’t be arbitrarily ranked by — he can’t do it. He can’t listen to it again.
“Stephen,” Gabe says. “He’s baiting you.”
“I’m not!” Dmitry protests, but he does it with a smile.
Stephen takes a deep breath. Gabe’s half predicting Stephen’s preparing himself to give the spiel anyway, half hoping he’s finally listened to Gabe about about the numerous benefits of conscious breathing. Physical and psychological effects aside, if Stephen is focusing on taking deep breaths, he isn’t saying something he may later regret.
Or saying something that he won’t regret at all, but Gabe certainly will.
“What will be involved in your speech?” Stephen asks finally, after several deep breaths. Gabe’s proud of him.
“It’s a surprise,” Dmitry says, still grinning.
Gabe is less proud of Dmitry.
“See, no,” Stephen says, puffing right up. There are deep breaths being taken, but Gabe doesn’t think he’s exhaling them. “That is not acceptable. There will be no surprises on my wedding day. Our wedding day, jeez, Gabe.”
“I didn’t say anything,” Gabe says. Not even under his breath.
“You thought it,” Stephen says. “What’s going in the speech, Dmitry?”
“I haven’t actually decided yet, Stephen,” Dmitry says. “What do you want me to say?”
“Oh, you want me to help you write it?” Stephen asks. “I can do that.”
“I meant—“ Dmitry says, then looks over at Gabe as Stephen springs out of his chair, probably off to grab his laptop. “That is an English saying, yes? ‘What do you want me to say’?”
“Yep,” Gabe says.
“Stephen knows that saying?” Dmitry asks. "He is just pretending to misunderstand?"
“Yep,” Gabe says.
“He is about to write me a very boring speech,” Dmitry says glumly. “Isn’t he.”
Gabe takes a deep breath. He still hasn’t exhaled when Stephen returns, laptop in his arms.
“Okay,” Stephen says, sitting down. “So what sort of tone are we trying for with this speech? Comedy, I’m sure, but what sort? I know you like to play the buffoon, but—”
Dmitry looks at Gabe, presumably for help. What he doesn’t know is that Gabe can’t help him.
Gabe shuts his eyes, and takes another breath.
“Would you stop breathing, Gabriel!” Stephen says.
Gabe opens his eyes.
“Oh come on, I didn’t mean it like that,” Stephen says.
“I am adding this to my speech,” Dmitry says. “I think it will get a big laugh.”
“I knew you had already started it!” Stephen says, spinning on him and pointing an accusing finger.
Gabe takes another breath.

“Trans men are men, and because they are men they are advantaged by the patriarchy”
I’m so tired of hearing this and only this as the reasoning for my words and ideas being dismissed.
Because it misses how patriarchal structures actually work in favour of positing all men as treated exactly the same under those patriarchal structures.
The first thing that comes to mind:
Do trans men, even the most stealth of stealth trans men, really benefit from the patriarchal structures within medicine which were made by focusing on cis, straight, white, thin, middle class men over all other patients? Does he really actually receive the benefit you’re imagining by him being perceived as cis? And if so, then do men of colour also have that same patriarchal structure? Even though their bodies weren’t considered in making it?
Sure, there is some benefit to, say, not being assumed to be a woman when discussing things to a doctor. That’s not insignificant. But there is a specific type of man that is actually what the patriarchy prioritizes, and proximity to that can gain those benefits (often extremely conditionally), and to talk about it like all men are equally privileged here, and then to further blanket narrow down transmasc experiences, is reductive.
That’s my big issue, honestly. Not that it’s being pointed out that patriarchal systems can benefit trans men and mascs. But that, in response to transmascs asking for our struggles to be at least acknowledged, we’re being given this unnuanced and reductive take on how the patriarchy functions which is supposed to make us realize that our experiences are actually those of cis men so we’ll shut up. There’s no nuance at all going on when people are saying transmascs benefit from the patriarchy in the process of shutting transmasc conversation about our struggles down (especially because it’s also often relying on the idea that women categorically cannot benefit from the patriarchy by playing the correct “woman” role laid out for her and policing the expression of other women and of men who aren’t that patriarchal ideal).

Completely random ask, I just want to share my opinion with someone because it's too, "inappropriate", for the groups I'm currently in.
I fully believe gender dysphoria is a thing, and generally I don't really care about what makes someone trans because I consider it none of my business. I will call people by the pronouns they want to be called, live and let live right and I have no interest in disrespecting them.
But. Trans women pretending to never have lived as a man pisses me off. I have to deal with their awful opinions every feminism conversation because they think calling themselves women gives them full insight on what it's like to be seen as one from birth. I really think they deal with a different kind of misogyny or oppression from cis women, and trying to make feminism all about them is wrong. I can't talk about how they've obviously not lived as a woman during their teenage years because otherwise I'm a TERF but god does it show. (I also hate how all the transphobia discourse is focused on women btw, men are the ones killing trans women the most, and being least likely to accept them)
Honestly, my experience varies a lot (like when trans people pass I feel like they tend to lose this mindset) but they're entitled like men. They act like men. They benefit from being seen as men in their daily lives if they don't transition. I don't think they should be talking about what it's like to be a woman. Even cis women who are misogynistic are bigoted in ways that feel different and more directed towards themselves.
Binary and non binary amab trans people both have told me "notallmen" rhetoric to me complaining about men sexualizing me for just existing. Like sure, have chasers, stuff akin to all that. But I don't think they'll get what it's like to be degraded that way on a societal level. Like I really don't think transphobia permeates every aspect of society as much as misogyny does. Transphobia is a violent form of oppression but it's just not the same and they're not "more oppressed than me", honestly. Trans women who do experience misogyny, like for real not in the "being seen as a gnc man" way, and who talk justly about it have my respect tho.
I don't know. I'm exhausted because I have to pretend I'm privileged compared to people who have never been treated as women outside of online groups. Because misogyny is disregarded as an axis of oppression so they treat me just like I'm a white cishet guy even if I'm a queer women, but without agreeing with me as default. I'm treated like a dirty misandrist and a dirty transphobe in those groups. I'm friends with and I have dated a lot of trans people, and I've never had any issues with them, but online acknowledging there is a fundamental difference between a trans and cis woman is the worst thing I could do apparently.
Yeah, I actually wanted to add something to you ask, but I kinda can't because you already said it all in such a well-articulated manner so I the only thing I can say is that I couldn't agree more. I'm sorry that those people are around you and I hope it gets better but even if it doesn't, you know that you can just DM me (as sending asks will result in me taking a long ass time to respond lmao)
So yeah, I hope that you don't have to spend too much time around these people

It's crazy how people don't realize that patriarchy ISN'T just "when men"
Cuz like no. That hypothetical trans guy isn't entering the patriarchy because he's trans, he IS HOWEVER experiencing multiple layers of intersectional trauma from existing in a society that enacts violence on anything that isn't seen as masculine from before transition AND you actively trying to say he has some kind of magical invisible privilege that has never been there because you can only conceptualize someone transitioning into what you've been lied to assume is "the enemy" as being done as a power move, because you transphobically assume that someone's doing it for any incentive other than that person's happiness.
Like my gamer that constant accusations of having that so-called patriarchal privilege is ONE of those intersectional aggressions, separate from the overt acts of violence that already happens to trans people, now additionally being downplayed because of some perceived privilege in their cases a lot of the time. This is some "Republicans actively Go out of their way to remove all possible ability to do stuff for us, and then once people start getting desperate and just killing themselves over it they point to that as the reason why they took that stuff in the first place" type argument. Like it becomes obvious it was meant and done so in a "I finally did it kind of way" but being pointed out like a "think of the children" kind of way cuz it's real easy to lie to people when you say think of the children first, in this case "think of the victims of patriarchy" while actively stepping over people who are direct victims of the patriarchy.
I know it's a crazy concept to get through some of y'all's heads, but like multiple groups can have multiple different AND same delineating pieces of like information. There can be intersectional terminology AND intrasectional terminology.
Cuz no bitch, a trans man talking about HIS PERSONAL LIFE and the SPECIFIC TRAUMA HE FACED as someone who was forced to experience the inherent traumas that come with being socialized growing up as someone societally seen and presented as female, is not him "trying to make you feel bad for someone who's privileged". Because he doesn't have The Patriarchy™.
Patriarchy is when the homogeneous concept of a straight white guy is going to have as much leeway as he can possible in the systems and in terms of getting proper justice and treatment. Because patriarchy isn't when men, patriarchy is when the societal standard of "whiteness" & "man & woman" is upheld.
A standard that in its own right is completely arbitrary because any delineation of human, other than just "Person" is needless categorization or at the very secondary aspect the main part, the fact that that's a person first, as the existence of intersex people shows, what's considered the standard of sex even Is just random characteristics people who either didn't know better or could benefit off of making sure people thought about it this way, had decided are "the correct ones" amongst a sea of what is actually just how reality works; no two people's bodies being the same, just the same as no two people's unique existences are, and each individual strand of DNA is unique.
And this is coming from a trans girl. Because I'm on that intersectionality shit. No one's free till we all are, it's pretty simple. The best way to do that is to not try and get angry at someone else for... *Checks notes* sharing their personal life because they used terminology that applies to them as well, that you personally didn't want to hear used that way even though there is no reasoning why it shouldn't be as it also can apply to him too
and also separately because for some reason that's a different problem but from the same crowd, it's not making up a new word if you don't want people to be using what you've decided Is "your" terminology, and either way what even do you mean by "making up a new word" all of them are fuck you. Because it's just people trying to be bigoted from within which is FUCKING WILD TO ME. LIKE???

I saw ur comment for my earlier ask where u said “since she's been spending some time in midgard, she's become pretty politically aware of what's been happening in america, so she knows something's off when one day the president declares war cuz things were NOT bad enough for that to happen (let's pretend this is after trump lmao)”
and I’ve never heard a truer statement in my life. Honestly, with everything that’s been happening I wanna disassociate so bad. Just from, like, all the straight WILD things that are being reported every five seconds he’s been in office. Like during his first presidency I feel like it was easier to ignore it cause I was younger, didn’t have TikTok (where I get CONSTANT updates about every detail of what he’s been doing just because it’s so far reaching that even my fav tiktokers that aren’t usually political (GRWMs) can’t NOT talk about how bad everything is getting and how much WORSE he wants to make it than it already is?!
It’s like I’m constantly waiting for him to be like “okay that’s enough villainous shit for the next 4 years now let me go golfing with Elon and Jeff in the Poconos” or whatever.
But HE.JUST.KEEPS.GOING!
Literally a couple days ago, I read that he gave a LIST(and/or flagged) a list to the NSF (the people who give out grants to fund acedmic research) of all the things their proposals (the scientists) can’t have in their proposals or they more than likely will NOT receive funding for their research. They were all words associated with “DEIA” (which don’t even get me started on that because I literally just recently got into the LONGEST fight with some guy in my TikTok comment section trying to tell him that DEIA has ALWAYS been about merit. It’s simply a way to make sure everyone’s voices are heard and everyone gets a fair chance at positions they are more than qualified for but might get passed over if their a certain race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Not so “unqualified” ppl can get things they didn’t earn. I had to explain to him that no POC, disabled, or marginalized group has EVER been handed a job they didn’t earn. But I digress because if I go into depth about it this comment will be too long.
What I was trying to say was that of that list one of the words that was flagged was the word female?!?!?! WTF?!?! FEMALE! Are we being SO.FUCKING.FOR.REAL. rn?!?!
I’m sorry but HOW is anyone supposed to get anything done or research ANYTHING of significance if you can’t even talk about or include an entire gender that (tho they might hate to admit it) makes up half of the population of people in the world?!!!
Also what about research regarding female animals?
What? Is it gonna be male and non-male?
I’m so triggered rn it’s not even funny.
Anyway, sorry about that, ur earlier comment just made me think that if he could do dumb shit like this then yeah I do think in that Percy AU that he would throw us in a war for no reason at all.
At this point he’s just living off spite and vibes, I guess.
I SAW THE LIST OF STUPID FLAGGED WORDS THING TOO. i thought it was just another one of those "i hate pronouns thing!" until i realized that "male" was allowed but "female" wasn't 💀💀💀
i think this is they're way of saying that they want all research to be male-focused only and focused on male benefit rather than girls and women, which is DANGEROUS because male-centered research has caused huge problems multiple times in the past. generalizability is an important factor for research, your research needs to be generalizable to a wide array of people, not just straight cisgendered white men.
especially for MEDICAL RELATED RESEARCH?????????????????
god, i knew they hated women but i never expected them to pull up with this bullshit

If your idea of a trans masc/man is a young white guy using he/him pronouns in his 20s-30s who started transitioning young and is now "basically a cis man", you'd likely benefit from listening to marginalized voices more often.
If your trans rights advocacy doesn't extend to trans mascs & men who are non-transitioning by choice or due to life circumstances, who are on T but don't pass, who pass but not enough to be stealth, those who are single working fathers or primary caregivers, those who were pushed into marriage before they knew themselves, who were raised to be homemakers dependent on their cis male partners and thus weren't granted the privilege of an education, who live in places where gender affirming care is heavily gatekept or ilegal, and those who are disabled, who are mentally ill, who are trapped in abusive relationships, who are intersex, who are non-binary, who are BIPOC, who are immigrants, who are sex workers, who are victims of systemic sexism - who can't or aren't allowed to just open a bank account, get a job, a car, an apartment and gain independence in the way their cis male peers can - all those trans mascs & men who, due to patriarchy & misogyny, can only dream of living their truth - if you pretend they don't exist and never even acknowledge their existence in discussions, can you really say you "support trans people"?
(This is addressing all trans people btw. I've seen trans men/mascs say dismissive stuff like "sure we have issues but it's like affording to go on T or getting top surgery, it's basically nothing and everyone who says otherwise is a MRA". Like I'm sorry but regardless of what some of you might want to believe, systemic sexism doesn't give a shit about whether you were actually a man all along, and if talking about misogyny the way it affects ppl who were raised as girls & forced to live as women makes someone a misogynist, then I have some really bad news about feminism. Maybe it's just your perception that's biased because that's been your personal experience and the trans people you tend to meet and talk to are those who actually have the freedom to be openly trans.)
