My Simon Kalivoda headcanons because there is literally no content for him:

He has been held back twice. He's been providing for his family since 15, that doesn't leave him much time for homework or studying.

Piggybacking off of that, he is 20 and in his senior year.

Hey, so I know the Tumblr Rock-afire fandom has kind of always embraced the Aaron Fechter hate, but can we please address the fact that he just did the closest thing to calling Dook an ableist slur on the Internet? And essentially called Duke Chauppetta the same thing because Dook's voice and personality are based heavily on himself?

Night 4: "Fear Street Part One: 1994" (2021)

I tried to watch this movie a year ago, but stopped only a few minutes in. I think I was going through a phase where I had a hard time keeping my focus when watching movies, and just opted to play a game instead. Anyway, I decided this was the perfect time to give this film another shot, and I'm certainly glad I did. This movie utilizes a lot of the same tropes as other horror films, but it also has a lot of unique, or at least uncommon, aspects that make it special. And, of course, when it comes to the tropes. there's a reason why they're tropes to begin with. It's because they work, and this film is a testament to that. It starts off strong, and gets even better as it goes along.

4th panel -

Onto the more specific points of review. The main protagonists are LGBTQ+ (one is a lesbian, but I think the other is bi), and, of course, when it was revealed, I did my usual internal scream of delight. Next, there's a character that's supposed to be percieved as kinda gross, but later in the film he's wearing a cardigan without an undershirt, and there's just something about it…LOL. Listen, I just have a thing for guys in cardigans, but ANYWAY… I gotta give another gore warning. The kills are pretty tame at first in terms of horror films, mostly stabbing and stuff. BUT, there is a CRAZY kill later in the film that I did NOT see coming. I was so shocked that I had to rewind it a couple times (like a total weirdo) just to fully absorb what had just happened. It reminded me of "Freaky" (2020), another horror/slasher film I love.

IMO, if you're gonna make a slasher film, you should take the opportunity to kill off the characters in unique and memorable ways, or at least have one gnarly kill like this one had. That's how you get the film to stick in your audience's brain. On a lighter note, another film this one kinda reminded me of was "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" (2019), which I also absolutely love and can't wait until the sequel comes out. I'm so glad that the other parts of this trilogy are already out for me to watch, and I definitely will be watching them before my Movie Art-athon is over.
