Marriage of State Housekeeping note

So given that it has taken me ten months to actually start posting fic for this, I feel like I do need to add a disclaimer so no one is surprised and disappointed when the first chapter of of the first fic goes out in the next week or so.

Its current wordcount, in the draft form that I sent to my beta, is almost exactly 3k. I am not and never have been a long form writer.

The past ten months have mostly been occupied with outlining, worldbuilding, and screwing around with the characters to get a handle on their voices and arcs and themes.

So yes hopefully now that we’re getting started on the fics themselves there will be a fairly steady output, but it will not be fast and it will not be large.

For the most part. Sometimes there will be a surprise longer one-shot XD.

I just want to warn everyone that this won’t exactly be a bunch of 10k multi chapters, but I hope that my smaller format is still enjoyable!

🔥Rivendel veil headcanon🔥

Veils are used in rivendel to cover the face of young princes/princess and sometimes even Nobels if their status is high enough.

It's both to protect the royals but also to hide them from potential suitors for ✨MYSTERY✨with only painting for the other royals and suitors to go off of.

Most of the time royals are wed before their coronation so they remove the veil when they become king/queen however Scott never got that chance so for the first few years of his reign he couldn't take of the veil because tradition.

Eventually after xornoth shows back up Scott just says "fuck it" and takes it off because he thinks it's annoying when your trying to plan battle strategies

Jimmy and Scott both cover their face

For Jimmy it's more of a status symbol. A show that he is a ruler just like the others which is what the codfather head is at least in his mind. It's also a pledge to protect the empire and his people alongside it. But he can and has shown his face to the other mostly during meetings but he usually covers it back up after Ashamed of his appearance.

For Scott it's a tradition so he had too cover it until marriage which Katherine allowed since. It wasn't a particular status symbol. he was also allowed to show others rulers but previous rulers still kept it a secret for safety reasons so I do feel like he decided to keep it like that for the sake of his council. He did let Katherine see his face tho because their besties.

The idea of Jimmy daydreaming about what Scott looks like too is also very funny too me my boy is a MESS over this man

Adding on Every painter that has seen Scotts face have told him how beautiful he is and that is TERRIFYING to him. The idea of Scott hating the fact he's objectively pretty it's something I love playing around with.

It's why he keeps the veil on for so long, if your pretty no one is going to take your seriously only every bringing up his appearance instead of what he can do or how he runs his kingdom.

It's why he managed to stay single for so long cause every suitor coming over just wanted to see his physical features or wanted his riches not HIM

With Jimmy, he already admired Scott. Since they first met he knew how strong Scott was and how good he was at being a ruler. Only after they started getting closer and closer is when Jimmy curiousity grew even more. Sure Jimmy's always been a bit curious but it's really not his business but ever since he fell for Scott there's been a growing itch to ask. Not because he wants to kiss him or anything like that NOOO totally not.

By popular demand (one guy) I will elaborate:

Cleo was put together by Joe Hills who in this universe lives in a rundown house at the edge of a junkyard, and almost all of her parts were scraps taken from the junkyard. Joe entered her into the life series tournament, partially because she wanted to enter and partially because the money given to contestants would help them both stay afloat.

Gem is a modified housekeeper bot with added pvp programming and some other modifications to keep her both light and robust, the person who submitted her to the latest life series entry is anonymous and there's some speculation that she went rogue and entered herself under a fake name.

Impulse was entered by a rival company to the Watchers for publicity and to get more people interested in their products, he was originally made as an engineer's assistant and modified in similar ways to Gem.

Scott is a prototype that never got finished due to crucial mistakes with his engineering, he was put together by Xornoth, a developer at Watchers Corporation and due to Xornoths habit of overworking himself to the point of deliriousness, Scott ended up being far too tall (6'8) and had tons of other faults with his design. After testing, Xornoth got attached to him and kept him around as an assistant and gave him a sentient ai engine, and eventually Scott all but forced him to let him enter into the Life Series

So I got inspired by a comic I read to make a robotics au for the life series

The thought is that the whole life series is essentially a game show/tournament started by the Watchers Corporation. It has the same rules as the regular series, except that people can submit robots with sentient/semi-sentient engines and capable of fighting, talking, emoting etc without remote controls

There's lore for each member of the series but I'll talk about that another time

Season 1

Pixl: Watchers are not some big bad evil Gods, but astral spirits watching over the worlds. As they See everything, they are often linked to the Vigil (as well as people given the gift of prophecy)

The life symbol was added after his alliance with Joey

Joel: A terracotta statue given life from the Mother Tree, he's flesh and bones (because magic), but him (and all the Mezalea habitants) returned to their statue form when Joel died of grief.

He does have other clothes to work in, but you're practically never going to see him in those.

Some other Mezalea headcanons

Jimmy: Most witches come from the swamp, and he's one of them. They specialize in potions and talismans.

Hair are important to codfolks, the act of brushing or braiding them are used in certain spells, thus why most codfolks don't have short hair.

His appearance is also more wild looking than before because of his slow transformation into a God.

The Cod Alliance gifted each other jewelries to remind and protect each others.

(Pixl and Joel's jewelries are under their clothes as necklaces)

After killing a certain amount of salmons, codfolks get a tattoo of dead salmons somewhere on their body.

Pearl: Similarly to Mythland, they see physical activities and fights as important (mostly for work but also protect themselves from ennemies).

I. don't have anything from Shrub I'm sorry I didn't watch her and I don't know her lore very well

Gem: Gem and fWhip grew up together to be wizards in the Crystal Cliffs, pressured to be perfect by their elders. Gem turned out to be naturally talented at magic, so everything rested on her shoulders.

She still keeps a lot of her strict education, but tries to make a change in the stressful wizard society.

She has a ring to represent the WRA (and another for magic channeling), and lots of scars from magic experiments.

Hair and the Geminitays

Wizards vs Witches (again, but it's important for Gem and fWhip lore)

fWhip: As said in the posted linked above, fWhip failed the wizard exams (he doesn't have any magical powers) and ran away in the newly founded Grimlands. His ingenuousness made him Count of the Grimlands. The Grimlands do not do magic. They mix science, engineering and alchemy instead. Symbols similar to sigils (or those of alchemy) are often seen engraved in their creations.

The deepslate corruption gave him wings, but they were not strong enough to fly so he has prosthetics to help him fly

He's actually quite clumsy, and ended up with lots of scars, and a missing hand:

Joey: (clearer design of his crown, made to ressemble the pharmacy snake thingie)

He bleaches his own hair.

He bleeds gold, and his scars are golden as well from his over use of Totems of Undying

Him being an avian allowed him a easy access to the Lost Empire. He wears the Ocelot print to look a bit more like its habitants.

Also his spit has healing properties.

Sausage: Mythland and Magic

Blood sheeps are sacred, but also feared, thus the fur to protect the citizens a bit from them.

Sausage lost his eyes when sparring with fWhip when younger. fWhip made him the eye prosthesis, and Gem enchanted it. May or may not have become corrupted in the whole Xornoth thing so they did another one for him.

Scott: I surprisingly do not have much for him. His cape can turn into wings. He stopped being able to do that when his ice powers showed up because they froze.

Very strict haircut, elves must be tidy and proper all the time.

Lizzie: She adapted rather well to her transformation, mostly changed her clothes for better swimming. Joel jokingly made her a bracelet to replace her now too small ring "in case she grows again", but she wears it seriously.

S2 Joel has very similar clothes to her because of faint memories.

Katherine: Yeah I fucked and forgot to color her inking, she was supposed to look like this (I noticed too late and never bothered to correct it)

Katherine has this whole "I want to be friends with everyone" that I associate with lambs, thus her ears and hooves. She's a fae with some weird morals.

SEASON 2

I have wayyy less for season 2, especially for the empires themselves.

fWhip: Goblins are direct descendants from the Grimlands (and a few from Crystall Cliffs), that hid underground after the explosion. They kept digging and exploring the caves until they found a place to settle. The green skin, cat like paws and eyes are from them adapting to living in caves.

Food is very important to them, they eat several times a day, and often have banquets. They also kept the Grimlands technique of blacksmithing, but adapted it for gold.

Jimmy: Yeehaw he's a cowboy. Not much to say ngl, I do headcanon him as a werewolf depending on the day.

Tumble Town heard cows, but also creepers (where do you think they get that gunpowder from!!) (headcanon from @doodleshrimpsad). Also, cats are sacred there

Pixl: He's got some magical and futuristic technology making him able to see builds and events from the past.

Got some knees problems, thus the cane. It has sigils on it that he wrote himself based of books from old times (I'm thinking they're sigils from the Cod Empire and the Grimlands)

I desperatly need to think about more about Pixandria, and how tf David (or at least a newer version of it) arrived at the Ancient City.

Joel: Yeah he got top surgery and got a cool tattoo of laurels, but he also bleeds gold and his scars are golden. God don't bow to human rules anyway.

The braid come from a habit he can't doesn't remember getting. it feels important.

Lower Stratos got a lot of rituals, prayers and offering but I haven't figured those out exactly. Just know that I associate s2 Joel with Dionysus a lot so expect similar stuff /sweats/

False: I have literally no idea what's going in her empire, and even less in her lore. The hp name put me off so. Idk. Cool clocks. She got a prosthetic leg.

Sausage: I haven't gotten to his lore part of his videos so idk his backstory. But he does have a cape that ressemble parrot wings because jungle, animals yadda yadda

Scott: He was actually due a redesign that I haven't gotten to yet so.

The outfit I've drawn him in that lineup is an everyday look, while the costume is for empires meeting or exploring.

Oli: Silly bard, his hat has faling strings that reminded me of floppy bunny ears and I thought it was cute. He bleaches his hair.

Got a lot of magic in his songs, people often stops by at his Kingdom just to hear sing and dance. They're a bit hypnotic and people seem to feel better afterwards.

Katherine: That's her monster hunter clothes. She still wants to keep it cute so pink skirt it is. That would be her normal clothes (it's like reverse magical girl, her poofy dress is her everyday dress)

Shelby: I do not have much for her (again), but I can link my Wizard vs Witches post again because it has my headcanons of why witches have academies now.

After all the complicated spells, she likes to do simple fashion magic. Tying a knot or a bow is to seal a spell, so she uses them a lot to do some simple protection spells on her clothes.

Pirate Joe: He's wearing lots of stolen jewelries, some may be enchanted, some may be cursed. Who knows? Not him.

The gold earring come from that belief among pirates that having a golden earrings gives you a better eyesight ( it's from a acupuncture point, and for some, wearing gold in the proper pierced place would help your eyesight).

Katherine did that braid in his hair, and Joe (like cod folks and crystal cliffs habitants), believes that braiding someone's hair means they will fall in love with you.

Gem: I'll have to link back that link about Hair and Geminitays as it got everything I got for her. She sometimes fight with Katherine about hair and its importance. My start of headcanons kinda got crushed because she's linked to hc Gem so idk what to do with her or her kingdom anymore.

Lizzie: She's got her mask to hide her cat face, but her bow is actually a charm hiding her other cat features. The mask is just to be sure.

Xornoth has Wings, because of course the demon has them! Why wouldn't he!? But... Its just Most of the emperors don't really know About those...

Most would probobly expect him to have either bat or dragon like wings right? Well... Those wings are more feathery and fluffy if anything so he doesn't really show them much...

Yet as you could tell even if you knew about Xornoths wings whenever he didn't have them out and you asked to see them he would just say "my wings are too magnificent for the likes of you" when in reality? He doesn't wanna show them because he really haven't even touched them in a while...

LOOK! NOT HIS FAULT THAT EXOR NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM OKAY!?

Yet one day when he thought there was Nobody around and let them Out, who suddenly comes in? Why Joey and sausage of course and they're bickering again! Yet the Second they see xornoths wings and the state they're in they ask if they can help preen them and well... Xornoth guesses its not THAT bad to let them gry...

Joey has his own wings, after all (a lot of the Lost Empire seem to) so Xornoth doesn't think they'll fuck it up too bad.

In fact, they does the opposite. They're so good at preening that Xornoth falls asleep. Flat out cold. They didn't even wake Xornoth up! They're pretty sure Sausage got a blanket for them, but the pair won't admit who actually did. Sausage was even preening Joey's wings whilst Joey worked on Xornoth's.

Xornoth has no idea how to say thank you. Ugh, they'll have to figure it out.

Just a bunch of species headcanons for the hermits! Also they are all either gods/immortal for fun :)

Xisuma (he/void): Voidwalker prince. Knows he's immortal. One of the oldest immortals

Grian (he/parrot/chirp/they): Parrot hybrid, Head/First Watcher. Minor god of chaos. Has lived a thousand lives. Treats YHS as a joke because why not?

Mumbo (he/him): Half Watcher, minor blood god. Does not know he's a god. Eats redstone for fun, scares his friends because of it.

Scar (he/it/vex): Vexling elf (Vex with allay magic). Does not know he's a god. Was born in Riverdale, kidnapped at a young age.

Pearl (she/her): Half-Watcher/moth hybrid. Also knows she's a god, actually likes the Watchers.

Impulse (he/they/yellow): Demon. Very much knows he's immortal, wishing that he isn't because he doesn't want to watch his brothers die. One of the oldest hermits

Tango (he/magma/they): Netherborn avian, Listener hybrid. Party knows he's a god. His Listener traits aren't visible and more of a development from the experience that was his high school to keep him fucking alive

Zed (he/void/wool): Harbinger of the Nether. Knows he's immortal. Looks like a basic sheep hybrid but also has demon wings and black blood!

Gem (she/her): Faun. Thinks she might be a god but it would mean her brothers aren't. Also has magic and can world-hop!

Etho (whatever vibes work for you): Voidling (Voidborn changeling), Watcher. Knows he's a god, could care less. First player turned Watcher. One of the first players

Iskall (they/he/she + some neos): Cyborg (also something else. I don't fucking know anymore). Doesn't care about gods, marked by the God of the Hunt.

Doc (he/it/blast): Creeper/goat/cyborg. Can and will fight the gods, Xisuma hopes that he doesn't find out he is immortal (he knows).

Ren (he/pup/they): Wolf-shifter. Knows he's the god of the Hunt. Idk this dude is cool

Bdubs (he/sun/sky): Glare/phantom hybrid, also has a connection to plants. God of the sun and flaunts it. Also is a full blooded Listener

Stress (she/leaf/spring): Nature spirt. Knows that she's immortal. Looks like a cinnamon roll, would kill you.

False (she/wing/they): Avian, with golden eagle wings. Does know she's a god, could care less.

Cleo (she/they/rot): Zombie hybrid. Knows she's immortal. Spites her old friends by getting attached to Joe. Also one of the oldest players

Joe (any pronouns): Angel of life. Known immortal. Just vibing with the soul he was meant to harvest.

Jevin (he/it/slime): Slime hybrid. Doesn't know he's immortal. Honestly idk much about him

Cub (he/it): Allayling (allay with vex magic.). Doesn't know he's a minor god. Claims to be a vex for fun.

TFC (he/ender): Ender dragon hybrid. Knows he's a god. Brothers with Notch and Herobrine.

Beef (he/they/it): Cow hybrid. Doesn't know he's immortal. He is basically just existing. Gotta love it.

Xb (he/river/fish/they/it): Guardian hybrid. Doesn't know he's a god. Idk fish

Hypno (he/they): Fire sprit. Could care less about being immortal.

Wels (he/him): Angel hybrid. Knows he's immortal. Hates being an angel because they are a bunch of stuck up beings.

The Morning After the Engagement: Rivendell Edition

AKA, Scott got betrothed for politics and now he is suffering

So this one won't actually be in the fic most likely, because plot-wise I don't want Scott and Xornoth to know what everyone else is thinking, but I thought this was funny and was told it was so here. Enjoy.

Scott opened the door to a hyperactive flurry of scarlet and rainbow feathers and immediately slammed it shut again on the intruder's foot. The pained yelp was very satisfying.

"Brother, your mistress is here," he shouted back into the house, yanking the door open again just in time to see a very scandalized minister of agriculture hurry away down the road towards the marketplace over Joey's shoulder.

The Emperor of the Lost Kingdom was hopping on one foot, his face screwed up while he clutched at the (now scuffed) heeled sandal that had given his toes absolutely no protection from the solid spruce door.

Once he became aware that Scott was looking at him he composed himself enough to sniff disdainfully and limp past him into the house.

"Xorny!" He smelled like warm humidity. Ugh.

Scott follows him back to the kitchen where Xornoth really looks as if they regret everything ever as Joey dramatically flings himself across a whole corner of the table, nearly knocking their breakfast to the floor. His wings trail through Scott's plate. Serves him right. Scott hopes the honey is hell to wash out.

Joey is already chattering a million miles an hour and it is way too early in the morning for this.

Scott doesn't make his escape quickly enough though because Joey rolls over so he's lounging on the table like its a piece of parlor furniture and gives him the brightest, smuggest smirk of a grin. "And here is the lucky bridegroom himself! You absolutely must let me help plan the wedding."

"Unfortunately we have several professionals who are already hard at work," Scott says in mock sadness. "And it would be an insult to them to remove them from the project."

Xornoth seems to be considering the merits of drowning themselves in their sweetberry juice. Scott squints at it and decides to risk freezing it over. The only possible casualty is Joey.

He successfully freezes Xornoth's juice. And Joey's right wing. And Xornoth's feet. Maybe he's not as okay about this whole thing as he's pretending.

Xornoth gives him a guilty look while they're slowly defrosting Joey's wing. "I should have talked to you first," They admit. "I panicked. I thought they'd try to bargain more."

"They think its some kind of rescue," Joey sniffs, immediately snatching both siblings' attention. He doesn't notice at first, intently preening through his newly freed (and damp) feathers. Eventually he does look up and rolls his eyes at them. "Oh come on. Surely you're aware."

Scott has no idea what he is talking about. Xornoth looks equally confused.

Joey sighs and flops back so he's leaning percariously off the edge of the table, wings draped down to the floor, shoulders held up by Xornoth's. "They think you keep Scotty here locked up in a dungeon or a tower or something and they see this as an opportunity to make sure he's safe from the big bad rebel king or whatever."

Xornoth makes a noise equal parts distressed and amused.

"What?"

Joey rolls his eyes again so hard he almost falls. "As far as they know you were exiled, came back, killed your parents and disappeared your little brother. From the outside it looks really bad."

He idly picks at his fingernails and peers over at Scott. "I'm pretty sure if it weren't for Katherine most of them wouldn't even believe you're alive."

Xornoth just blinks over at them both. "Do I really give off such strong Evil Dictator vibes?"

"You both have the social skills of a dead sheep," Joey says bluntly.

"Like you're any better," Scott mutters under his breath.

"I am a fucking delight. You two have the mutual dream of running off and becoming mountain hermits."

I just remembered that some people want Scott's 'him' from Witchcraft to be Xornoth and while I'm a Jimmy truther until the end... that would be fucking hilarious. Scott's desperation to revive someone and that someone being his own evil brother from another server.

A brother that was only his brother because he wanted to play a prank on Shubble and it got canonized and since it was played by Scott they had to have an in universe explanation for having the same accent so they went with related. Because Scott's accent is so strong that he couldn't cover it up like that.

But yeah, that would be fucking hilarious.

For your "Evolutionist's are God's" au, imagine if Pearl and Jimmy decided to gather up the rest of the group, disguise themselves, the go in with bats and crowbars to threaten Aeor and Xeor into dropping the prophecy because for goodness sakes it's been TEN MILLION FUCKING YEARS- The other rulers are wondering the next day why there is now a peace treaty between the stag gods while Jimmy and Pearl have been drawn into a discussion about possibly building an arena with Sausage.

Oh, Jimmy and Pearl are furious that Aeor and Exor are holding this prophecy over Scott and Xornoth.

They would 100% be tempted to gather the rest of the Evolutionists and just go after the gods, but sadly they recognize that their friends are busy doing other things.

That doesn’t mean that they aren’t going to put the fear of the Universe into these lesser gods. After all, they thought they could control people that Jimmy and Pearl loved. They can’t just let that slide.

Aeor and Exor definitely end up agreeing to peace and are suspiciously scared of the Sunflower Queen and Codfather, but everyone assumes that Pearl and Jimmy are just other minor gods. 

At least, they assume that until Pixlriffs pulls out an old tome about some of the Olde Gods, including the Evolutionists.
